Listen to your racquet and perfect your game!

RacquetTune ensures that your racquet is ideally suited to your style of play. Simple and straightforward to use, the app uses the sound generated by tapping the strings to calculate the tension with high accuracy. In addition, the interactive swingweight calculator aids in customizing your racquet to fit your own stroke pattern, while the stiffness calculator allows you to simulate different racquet configurations.

RacquetTune not only makes it easier to decide when it is time to restring, it is also an invaluable tool when testing different racquets and strings and in identifying which of your racquets is best suited for different types of games. RacquetTune also allows you to check whether your stringer is consistent in his work.
RacquetTune includes the following user-friendly tools:

Tension measurement
- Quickly determines the tension and stringbed stiffness.
- Able to detect changes in tension as small as 0.1 kg/0.2 lb.
- An accuracy indicator ensures results are consistent.
- Graphical presentation of sound waves helps you find the ideal way of tapping the strings.
- Settings can be customized to serve tennis, squash, racquetball and badminton racquets, respectively.
- View the tension history for each racquet as a list or a graph.
- Email a spreadsheet with test data.

Swingweight calculator
- Add as many weights as you wish to the frame.
- Move and change weights to visualize how swingweight, balance and sweet spot location are affected.
- Enter target values for the racquet and let RacquetTune distribute the weights automatically.

Stiffness calculator
- Simulate various racquet and string configurations
- Vary tension, string type and racquet head size.
- Shows load-displacement curves, stiffness and elastic energies
- Handles the large deformations encountered in actual play

RacquetTune - String Tension App Comments & Reviews

RacquetTune - String Tension Positive Reviews

I must be doing it wrongI restrung my racquet at 55#. This app said the tension was 40.2# right after I finished. I checked the string factor and ensured that I’d entered the correct values all the parameters (e.g. string pattern, racquet face size). I followed the measurement procedure to the letter. I could believe a couple lb. change but 15? Nyet. The racquet plays like 50-55. A Gamma String Tension Tester said the two center main strings were at 55# and the two center cross strings were at 39 and 40#. Why are other users getting numbers close to the tension at which they strung? Not even close for this app. Sorry.Version: 7.6

String factor accuracy is crucialFantastic app. Incredibly useful to graph how the racket loses tension over time. Readings are very accurate. (note, if I’m stringing a poly, I can sometimes lose up to 10% by the time it’s off the stringer, then maybe another 10% over the next 48 hours) String factor accuracy is crucial, and the online database can be hit or miss, you’ll see lots of variation in there. You should measure this yourself to make sure it’s accurate, because it will greatly affect the reading. I use the weight method, and that’s worked out well for me so far..Version: 7.6

Better than I expectedI have had this App for a week now and the results have been much better than expected! I use it to find out how much tension drops after each playing session..Version: 7.6

Great TechnologyWithout a doubt the closest thing to an industry standard in measuring relative string tension. Incredibly accurate. Should be in every serious player's toolkit. There is no competition when it comes to this App..Version: 7.3

Measures about 7lbs off for my 3 racquetsStrung all 3 of my DR98 to 55lbs with Solinco Tour Bite 16g. Checked tension right after stringing and gave me readings of 48lbs on all 3. Tried to mess around with the string factor, but it still gave me readings between 45-49lb mark. I’m still going to keep the app to use as tension reference points after matches..Version: 7.6

Amazingly AccurateIt’s almost too good to be true. I get readings and I think, no, it must be wrong. It can’t be a mistake a made. Sure enough, I did something wrong. When I string exactly the same, I get the exact same output. This is an amazing app. It has helped me string better and learn more about how my string tension changes over time. Well done!!.Version: 7.6

Everything you needPerfect for customizing rackets.Version: 7.6

Works great!I first read about this over on the Tennis Warehouse forums. Several people mentioned they tried it and it seemed accurate. I decided to give it a whirl myself, and Yes, this app seems to be great! I've been stringing my own racquets for many years, so I have a good understanding of string tension. This app was within 3 lbs of what I strung my racquet at, which is appropriate given tension loss right after stringing. This app is easy to use and will be quite handy to monitor when strings start to go dead. Great app and I hope to see future versions. For the future, tracking/recording options of the data would be nice and perhaps add in specific racquet and string data. But again - WONDERFUL app..Version: 0

It is what it is.I got it yesterday, and tried it on several racquets I had to string. It does a passable job. My problem with this type of thing is it measures tension, in lbs. or kgs. As such, there will always be discrepancies of a number of units. What you are looking for when you measure a string job is consistency, or the drop in measurement from when it was first strung. Such metrics are better stated in units that have no particular relationship to units of measurement. Since there are literally hundreds of strings on the market, it is possible, even probable that there is no linear information for the string you are using. Granted, you can get close with the information available, there will be variations, however slight, which will give a somewhat false reading. The best way to use this app is get a measurement, regardless of variables and use that number to determine consistency between racquets strung at the same time or between string jobs on the same frame. You can then check unit change over time and how much playing. One more thing; there will be differences of measurement between frames that are supposed to be exactly the same. This can be due to stiffness in the head, etc. so one can never be sure the measurements will be exactly the same, regardless of who strings the racquet. RacquetTune string tension appThis is very useful and effective app for racquet stringers and racquet sports participants as well. It is a useful tool to determine, in relative terms, how much your racquet tension has changed over time, and when it's time for a new string job. It is rather accurate and consistent, especially when you consider all the variables and limitations of measuring string tension accurately. I also appreciate that the developer was very responsive with effective and personal feedback with an issue I was having (user error). Also, the "history" feature has replaced my old paper stringing log book. For professional stringers, this app could become an effective marketing tool..Version: 3.3

A must for the serious playerThis is a great app. The tension readings are usually spot or at least very plausible. But more importantly, they are consistent. If you test a racquet several times you will get similar results every time. This makes it useful for monitoring tension loss and comparing rackets. The swingweight part is also a nice addition. For 99 cents it's a no-brainer. Some complain that it shows a lower value than the settings on the string machine. But that is not a problem with the app since the actual tension in the stringbed usually is 5-10 lb lower after stringing..Version: 0

EssentialI have 3 kids who play competitive tennis and so stringing has become essential. I find the app to be incredibly accurate, allowing me to get predictable tension every time. I could calibrate the tension on my stringer with the reported tension on the app but that's not necessary since the readings are so consistent. I now have something like 10 different racquets and at least that many strings in the database . It's easy to add more. It's great for checking tension after a couple of uses as well as for actual stringing. Very impressed. I've strung over 100 times using it and I'm very satisfied..Version: 6.1

Great app for avid stringersI find this app extremely useful. Right off the bat, from my experience, it seems very accurate. I always use this app right after stringing a racquet to test the reliability, and unless my stringer and this app are off by the same amount (usual a +/- 0.5lbs between the app and stringer), it's dead on. From there, I find it very interesting to track the tension decay over time (from playing and not playing with it). Helps me determine what types of string retain tension best. All in all, love this app, use it almost everyday. Can't think of any improvements I want to see.Version: 3.5

Great app for tennis playersBeing an engineer and tennis player I find this racket useful in helping me track string tensions. Since I'm not a pro I'm responsible for having my three rackets strung. I use this program each Saturday morning to see if any of the rackets have become more loose than the others so I can play that racket less until it catches up with the others. I'm now stringing one with different strings and using this program to evaluate how well the new string is holding tension vs. the other two rackets..Version: 4.0

Great app when used properlyTerrific app that works as advertised. However, for the most precise reading, it has to be used in a quiet setting where there is little to no ambient noise. If it can hear the neighbor's lawnmower, the plane going overhead, the birds chirping, or your friends yapping about how it's not gonna work, the analysis will get contaminated, and you'll get a less than accurate outcome. A word to the wise.....Version: 0

Great app for keeping track of tension loss!If you wait till your strings break to restring your racquet, you are waiting too long! Strings lose their ability to transfer energy to the ball and create the spin needed for accurate powerful shots. This app helps me keep track of my players string tension loss and replace the strings before they lose playability. I highly recommend this app!.Version: 5.6

Works well not perfect but good enoughI believe the string tension is accurate to a certain degree. This degree is good enough for most stringing applications and you usually get within a few pounds of what is accurate especially useful if you have multiple rackets, you string together and you want to know where the tensions are on each of them relatively.Version: 5.8

Ahead of the gameGreat product! For what I paid ($1.99 I think) about a year ago was happy with the product. Since then, the app has been updated to make it much more valuable. I string my racquet and test it with racquetune and it reads consistent time after time. Only small complaint I have is you need a fairly quiet area to use it preferably indoors..Version: 3.5

Works great for meGreat little app. I have three racquets that I have strung the same (50lb) on a digital machine with full bed poly every two to three months. I check the tension with the app every three to four weeks and can see the steady decrease to about 40 lb at which point I restring. I play with confidence that nothing wacky has happened to the tension..Version: 6.0

Not too bad.Only reviewing for badminton equipment. When you save a string pattern it won't show up correctly in the description. You also have to dig into the menu every time the program starts to select the low tension setting. Missing some string pattern combinations as well. Would be nice to be able to enter the number instead of picking it (both for pattern and area). Still trying to get accurate string values but seems to be ok for the most part..Version: 3.01

Measure works, seeing data notI've been using it for a few months and it has helped me to play more often with the tension range I like, therefore help me improve my game. I couple issues are bugging me though: 1- in History the Curve view never works 2- in History it displays the tension in kg only 3- it should have a way to log how many hours were played since last measure.Version: 5.7

This app is great! The app is easy to use, has plenty of instructions. I use it to track tension for myself and a few friends that I string for. The accuracy can't be beat, and it's nice to use each time I string to check for consistency. I recommend this app to any tennis player looking for greater insight into their racquet's performance..Version: 3.4

This app works well!!A great app to monitor string tension. It works flawlessly. I am a 5.0 player and I highly recommend this app to anyone who is serious about their racquet maintenance. Buy it!!!!! Revisited: New update 2.5 is amazing. Buy this app and monitor your gear. Another amazing update ver 3.0. Racquet database is a much welcome addition. Simply awesome!!!.Version: 3.0

Great UpdateI have compared it to a friends ERT300 Tennis-computer (which costs $199) and the results are very similar. One of the best apps I have on my iPhone. To NickLurby: Try and use something else to tap with. I am using a spoon(!) After finding the right tool I am getting very consistent results.Version: 0

Great app for those who string their own racquets. We have a basic tennis stringing machine at home and this app fits our needs perfectly. I can easily check my string tension anytime and it lets me know when it's time for a string job. The app is well supported with updates and always runs smoothly..Version: 5.6

Great appThis app does a great job of giving me a baseline when I string racquets. I check the racquet every so often see how the tension holds. Helps determine best tension for playability and helps me choose string. It's fairly accurate with its calibration but primarily a super useful tool for the average player to determine the best tension for your stick..Version: 5.5

Dont buy a tennis tension meter! This app is so much better than the $30 string tension tools on tennis websites. It not only gives accurate readings, but stores the results so you can see how strings act over time. Great job guys! I sent a question to them about string bed stiffness, and they responded within a day. Love it!.Version: 4.2.1

Very usefulBeen using this for 5 weeks on two racquets with incredible results. A great tool which has already convinced me to switch to a new string that has the same playability but more durability. No more guessing when it’s time to restring. And that’s a big deal!.Version: 5.7

WowI am totally amazed at what you can now do on your mobile phone. Never did I think about something like this. Glad I saw something posted. I am an avid squash player and this did help me to keep my rackets just the way I like..Version: 2.7

Fantastic AppI am a home stringer and was reluctant to buy one of the real devices due to their high cost. This app was the perfect solution! Tension reads what I would expect and stays consistent every time I retest it on the same racquet. Overall very high quality app.Version: 2.7

Best app for serious tennis playersRead about this on the tenniswarehouse fourms (Oddyssey MK4) thought it was worth a 99cent shot based on what I read. I must say this app is very useful and from testing old strings and fresh from my machine it's very accurate a must buy!!.Version: 0

Great app!Not only good for reading string tension, but also great for previewing and tinkering with weight customization ideas. Much quicker and easier to use than other online customization calculators I've tried..Version: 3.0

Excellent ProductExcellent tool for monitoring tension loss and documenting results! All 3.5 level players and above should use this tool to monitor tension loss and restring when loss approaches 16-20%. At this point, I notice balls beginning to sail just long - on swings I feel should have stayed in..Version: 4.8

Great toolIf you like to customize your racquets, this app is the best! There are all kinds of tools and info to help you out. Highly recommend you download and try this tool. You will not be disappointed..Version: 5.1

Very clever - and goodGreat way to track the loss of tension of your string job. 1st version it was sometimes tough to hit the and get a reading; with the current version it almost always gives a good reading..Version: 6.0

Excellent App!!This app is excellent. I use it for own racquets & for my stringing customers! It measures tension accurately & consistently!! Any reviews saying it doesn't work simply did not take the time to learn it & use it properly. It is a must have for players & stringers!!!.Version: 3.5

Works!Easy to use. Simple intuitive interface. Really helps compare rackets or follow tension over time. Actually showed me how I was failing to maintain tension as I strung my sticks, and that I had to compensate for an inaccurate gauge on my old stringer!.Version: 3.4

Awesome lead tape balancing programFor those of us who want to customize our rackets, this program is amazing! To be honest, i havent tried the string part yet but i am using this from now on to balance / write my custom specs..Version: 3.5

Most excellent!Similar to the old PC app 'freqmass' (sp?) with which I had varied success. This app seems much more consistent with results. Highly recommended for stringers or someone wishing to test and experiment with their racquet setup..Version: 0

Well worth the money if you're serious about tensionIndispensable if you're serious about racquet tension. Works outstandingly well – as long as you're in a quiet room/setting..Version: 5.7

Great appVery nice app. I am a self stringer and wanted to test what tension I strung it at. This application is correct up to the .1 decimal place everytime I tested it on my rackets. I am amazed at how well this application works..Version: 2.7

Must have for string nerdsChecking and tracking the tension of my racket was the original reason for getting Racket Tune. Now, when investigating different strings and tensions I use it all the time..Version: 3.5

RacquetTune 3.4Great app for tracking racquet and stringing information. New version with interface makes it easier to input hybrid string combinations..Version: 3.4

Great long termThis is a great tool to follow relative tension and how it decays after the original straining. It's also helpful to know where you play your best with a specific rqt. I'd pay for it!.Version: 4.3

Racket timeNice app, keep up the good work.Version: 5.3

Great appI only use for tension. Not sure about the accuracy but it's a nice gauge for tension loss..Version: 6.0

Nice appI like this app. I only use it for tension. I'm don't think it is super accurate but it is consistent which is not important for me..Version: 6.0

Wow!I was always wondering about real time tension info on my strings since i wanted to know what tension was my racquet at just when I was getting the best feel from it. Now i can do it and let my stringer know exactly what I want and check his work too:).Version: 2.5

GreatPretty good for a two dollar app. Glitched a little at first but patches have fixed most of it..Version: 5.0

Very helpfulPeople who play a lot need consistency, and this app keeps the stringer in check, if you are not hitting well, you can now eliminate string tension issues, the actual accuracy of poundage doesn't matter (although very accurate actually) what one really needs and gets is a reference point and a way to monitor string tension drop over x hours of play , it's great!.Version: 3.5
