AmpliTube CS App Comments & Reviews

AmpliTube CS Positive Reviews

Great idea, needs workIronic that the app crashes when I try to browse "add gear" - Especially since there's a LOT of gouging with IK. IK COULD become my go-to for all my original music needs, BUT: I bought Vocalive but there doesn't seem to be a way to incorporate the effects with other IK apps, and now they want me to buy the effects I already have via in-app to use them here. No AudioCopy/Audiopaste is a HUGE disappointment and an easy fix to the problem. I have iRig, iRig mic, and I'm registered with both Amplitube Free apps as well as having a couple of the percussion apps. I see no reason to buy the full Ampliutube versions since I'm only interested in a few effects, which I can buy separately and which are not included in the full versions anyway. The hardware is good quality and fair value, although iRig is proprietary (iRig works great with Amplitube and with a couple other apps but feeds back with many competitors. Peavey Link is not proprietary - it works on any modeling app - but it's a cheaper build, more bulky, and requires batteries). The software needs to be intra-compatible to be really useful. For now I'll use Amps&Cabs and Riot FX for practice, FourTrack and MultiTrack DAW for recording, and Vocalive as a toy. Make IK work universally with other IK and I'll throw another hundred bucks their way tweaking my gear - but I'm not sinking another dollar into IK until they start showing repeat customers some love. ~D!.Version: 2.2

GreatNothing wrong with this app. Everything works well, just as described..Version: 4.14.1

Doesn't work with Apple mp4 format songsAlthough it lets you jam along with your existing songs, it doesn't work with songs in mp4 format, which is what iTunes uses by default for importing CDs. So none of my 5,000 songs works. I was hoping to use Amplitube to jam along with the songs I have on iTunes. Unfortunately, it doesn't do that, what it lets you do instead is download up to 20 songs to play within Amplitube. I went through the messy process it requires of getting on a computer that's on the same wifi network as my iPod Touch, going to a special Amplitube website, uploading a song file from my computer, downloading it into Amplitube, and "expanding" it within Amplitube, 20 times. The problem is, Amplitube doesn't seem able to handle Apple's default format, m4a. Instead of playing the song, each time I pressed the play button it just "expanded" it again. I believe it prefers mp3 files. Considering this app is designed for the Apple iPod/iPhone, this seems like a rather large oversight and renders the app unusable for me..Version: 0

Great app- needs to keep on top of iOS updatesI’ve just started to rely on AmpliTube. I didn’t think they’d let an iOS update break their GUI! Right now, with the iOS 16 update, AmpliTube is stuck in the portrait mode while in Live. The controls are mostly unavailable, and so none of the presets can be edited. IK should at least have someone test the iOS beta and make a warning announcement about update problems. I was able to use AmpliTube for my last gig, but was really limited. IK really needs to post an acknowledgment of the problem and a timeline to fix it!.Version: 4.14

4.5Not a bad app. Of course it's not going to sound like you tube amp... Duh!!! But, for capturing riff ideas or practicing at the airport, or on the bus this works. Not real sure what some reviewers were expecting for free or a few bucks( some people would complain about being hung with a new rope... :p ) if you read the installed help section and know how to use your phone/computer volume and tone settings, you can get tone that won't sound like your first guitar and cheap digital amp.... I bought the iRig just to interface my guitar to my phones Strobotuner@ application, and decided to try the fee app. You get two effects and a noise filter( not necessary if your guitar is quiet to start with) just keep the effect & amp gains and levels under control and you get close to what your looking for... I play for a living and this combination works for what was designed for.... It does have little, occasional pops but that is the phone audio/ iRig compatability not the app. So Enjoy it, I do.... :).Version: 0

Works ok.Don't expect to actually use this in a live performance or recording, the tones are not that great and the responsiveness is not very realistic. The tone reminds me of a super cheap multi-effect processor plugged into a small stereo. That said, I was able to play the free version with no perceivable latency with an iphone 3g. the tuner and metronome seem to work fine. The screen layout is nice and the controls are intuitive. The delay, noise gate and distortion pedal are nice and it's great to be able to save your presets. This app, of course, would be useless without a special cable to hook up a guitar. I made my own, so I couldn't comment on the iRig addaptor. Given that this does turn your iphone into a multi-effect guitar processor for free, it easly deserves 4 stars. You can use a camcorder cable to plug your guitar in. The red plug of the camcorder cable is the "mic in", the yellow and white go to the amp or stereo. For your guitar input: Use a 1/4" female to RCA female adaptor to mate with the red RCA Jack on the camcorder cable..Version: 0

Very good practice deviceI bought the PRS cables and the jam amp. The jam amp, amps and cabs and guitar fx deluxe apps, While decent little guitar rigs, distort really easy, and feedback when using active pickups. The free Amplitube rig has it's threshold as well, but with the noise gate feature, this is reduced quite a bit. Tone wise, through passive and active pickups, this thing rocks! Using the PRS cables is perfectly fine, for those of you who bought them like myself. The amp is very responsive, and the distortion has a ton of bite. I am not very impressed with the delay, but it does add a dimension to the tone, and makes it fun to play with. The tuner works great and is almost exactly in tune with my line6 podx3. The jam amp app is not. If you want something to record an album on, this might not be it. But it goes much farther than other apps of it's kind. I plan to expand to the full version now that I have had a chance to play the free setup. If you want a great practice amp, and free is your kind of price, this is well worth the money... And register to get the free distortion box! I give it four stars, because it still does feedback a little, and the delay is not fully realized in this version..Version: 0

Great app one of the bestI don’t know what all these negative reviews are about. I have owned this app for quite awhile I have everything it offers. It looks great sounds great. Love all the extra packages. Only problem is I usually have to unplug my interface from my iPad and then plug it right back in for it to work. I don’t no why but if this helps anyone. Unplug and plug back in from the lightning connector. Also too long in between any updates new sounds for iOS and such. I have both AmpliTube 5 and 4 on my Mac. Also irig keys the irig pads micro monitors the irig 1 irig 2 irig hd irig pro duo 1 st one and the I loud speaker which I LOVE and the I klip stand and adapters. Love it all. I use my iPad more a lot more Otherwise great job..Version: 4.12.1

New Version May Work BetterUpdate: I reinstalled the app and the knob fuzziness cleared up. I agree with another reviewer that the bass guitar sound is often muddy. It is sometimes a little distorted on the extreme low end, this could also be the iPhone limitations. I think it must lose something between the cabinet and the mic in their sample. Also it would be nice to bypass the cabinet and just use the head. It has a funny frequency in the bass sound that is hard to EQ out. I do like the Ultimate Tuner that's in the app but could care less for the drums and recorder for now. They should have put the effort in making it a great bass app before moving on to drums and recording. It might be good for professional use like some of the other apps I have for Bass Guitar. I just haven't tried it yet on stage..Version: 4.0.2

Absolutely amazing! As a gigging guitar player with years of experience and having tried tons of gear on the market, I am absolutely blown away by Amplitube and the matching iRig interface! I have been playing with the software and the interface for a couple of days on my iPhone 4 and second generation iPod and have gotten a tone with the free version I didn't think were possible. I will be trying with my girlfriends iPad and will more than likely upgrade to the full version soon. This with a power amp and 4x12 cabinet may become my live setup..., we shall see soon enough!.Version: 0

Need Access to the Older VersionOk, I was forced to download the app because the older version no longer works with the new iOS. I use it all the time, it works great, just like before, no issues, but my question is: What can be done to gain access to my songs stored on the deprecated app? I have tons of data still stored on my phone which I can no longer access because the developer has not updated the app to work with iOS 11. I hesitate to begin recording on this new app for fear that next year I will be forced to update again. Can a utility be created to import the old data from the older app?.Version: 4.4.0

Really good!I got a bass for my birthday but i hate using amps because they, especially with basses, can shake the ground and are really loud, and since im autistic, i cant deal with loud noise. my father introduced me to this app though, and it works great! I just wish you were able to close out of the app and still be able to play since im new to bass, i still have to look at online sheet music for the songs i want to play; i cant really do that if every time i close out of the app, the amp shuts off. Besides that nit picky little thing, this is an amazing app and i love it dearly!.Version: 4.11.1

Effects work and then they donI recently downloaded the app and registered on-line. Day 1 I loved the sound, distortion, and delay. Day 2 I turned on the amp and effects tuned up using the tuner on the app. None of the effects worked. Even though I cranked the nobs and switched the pedals on (with red light) and off. I went to itunes to see what others were saying and saw that there was a love hate review there. They loved it when it worked but others were seeing what I saw. I rebooted my iPhone and then "hard" rebooted by pressing the top button and the button on the front of the phone. Guess what??? Everything worked again. I went to the tuner turned it back on and guess what, nothing worked. I hard rebooted and could repeat this again. Just thought you would want to know. A fix would be nice, since I like the tuner and overall the sound is great value for the money..Version: 2.0.2

Awesome, but no multitasking??This is great. I just bought a guitar and am using this for my amp plugged into headphones or speakers. The one thing that is a huge dissappointment is that there is no multitasking. I'm new to guitar and would love to be able to use Tabs Plus or other guitar apps while running Amplitube. Also, for all the bells and whistles and in-app purchases, this app is almost $50. Not bad for such extensive software, just a warning if you are looking for lots of free stuff. Five stars if they allow background audio / multitasking in a future version..Version: 2.0.1

Decent beginningsMake it stereo output and I'll buy it. Reverb and chorus just sound best in stereo. Here's a few ideas for future: Add a floor controller that plugs into the 30pin connector. Give the floor controller a wah pedal. If the iOS4 won't support the higher processing demands of stereo processing, put the DSP in the floor controller and make the iOS device the editor/librarian/display only. Perhaps use the accelerometer/gyros for controlling different parameters (like wah). you could make the spring reverb, in the amp models, clang when you bump the iphone (kind of cheesy). How about an impedance transformer built into the iRig interface?.Version: 0

Nice AppCurrent version I have (?) appears to have a small bug when creating a new label to record, need to unplug / plug the iRig back in. Otherwise you might think its broken. I love this app, even with the prices I think it's well worth it. Getting the bundles will save. The best part is being able to play just about anywhere without really disturbing anyone. Or, you can disturb. 5 stars because I felt it deserved it. Appears the programmers take pride. Perhaps they play as well.Version: 3.0.1

My rig on the go!Let’s be real, it’s annoying to have to lug around your amps, cabs, and FX everywhere. So why not make it easier on yourself and have it all in an app on your iPhone and/or ipad? AmpliTube is that solution. This app makes recording and playing on the go so much easier for me. The physical modeling can be easily reflected within the app as all the gear in there sounds like the real deal. Always looking forward to the next update!.Version: 4.13

Great app, even better rigThis app is very easy to use and I was playing within minutes. The sound quality is obviously not going to be as good as a tube amp, but I'm impressed with how close they got! The occasional click/pop is there, but it doesn't and shouldn't undermine the whole experience of being able to play without lugging gear around! Free version is limited and I'll be buying the full version soon. Great job IK.Version: 0

Good for jammingThere you go, this app is great if you just want to make some loops and play along. Most of the in app purchases are fair, and don't cost too much. The problem is the recorder, that thing is a piece of garbage. I say this because it isn't just a nice simple recorder which allows you to record songs. Instead it's a freaking monster. You only get one channel to work with and you aren't allowed to easily use your loopers while recording! That thing took 20$ from me. If you want to jam it is a good app. If you want to record go find a microphone..Version: 4.3.0

No problems!IPhone 4s ... Not sure why there are negative reviews? But I've had it loaded and used the hell out of for the past 24 hours. It ain't like sittin with you rig but duh!!! You must register your device before it works 100% but the instructions tell you that. It works fine people. I bet any pay stuff would work better. I am hoping to be able to use while I'm playing iTunes. Have not figured that out yet..Version: 2.2.2

Play by ear?!? Excellent AppI am familiar with the distortion that some are referring to. (fuzzy) turn your guitar down and get some good headphones! I love my monster ear plugs. If you play by ear like I do you just can't beat this app. Compressor (free) Delay (free) and when you register your I rig..... (free) distortion pedal. Everyone that I jam with I have told about this product. The tuner is great also! Highly recommend this. Not sure why you would want the pay ver but hay!.Version: 2.2.2

"No Voice" button = 5 starsYes, the out-the-box tone isn't as good as AmpKit, and yes it isn't laid out as nicely as Ampkit either, but when I want to play along with or learn a song, Amplitube - Song - Add from iPod - (processing) - "No Voice". Oh sweet lordy lord, 5 stars. I would buy an app that did just that. This kinda does this as a side project. Crazy. For best practice? Amplitube. Hands down. For sweet tone? Ampkit. But you only ever use these things at home for practice anyway, not at a gig..Version: 2.5

What a GREAT App!Amplitube is such a great app. I purchased the full version of the app a month ago. Before I purchased Amplitube, I tried two other guitar apps to compete with it and nothing beats Amplitube. The app has great sounds with clean tone and distortion, including other effect pedals and quality brand amplifiers that are used by famous musicians. Everything in Amplitube is amazing. I recommend this app to everyone who is a beginner or a professional guitar player..Version: 4.5.2

Sounds GoodJust played around with the free version and the included loops. Using the interface is very intuitive. Sounds decent through headphones. Was wondering how a previous poster was able to use a camcorder cable to connect his guitar. I tried using the yellow rca end to connect the guitar (via a female rca to 1/4 adapter), and using the red and white rcas to connect my headphones. The headphone signal worked, but the unit didn't recognize any guitar signal coming in.....Version: 0

Does the jobThis was more than I expected. I just wanted a practice amp. Buzz doesn't bother me. Anyone who has owned a high gain amp should know how to dial it out - especially with the noise gate pedal. The record function is great. I can lay down ideas without setting up my whole rig and computer. The files are convertible to songs, which means I can make practice tracks for my drummer; that is boss..Version: 2.1

Great for practicingThe amps sound great for quiet practicing. I’m on a tour of duty in Kuwait and need to be quiet with my playing. It really sounds incredible with a pair of powered, noise-cancelling headphones. With regular headphones though, it can get staticky and muted. I did plug it in my old Fender 110 amp at home before I left and it made that crappy little amp sound good. I currently use the iRig 2 interface with it, so an HD or HD2 would probably make it sound even better. The recording feature is great for saving ideas for recalling them in the future. Bump up to the 8 track recorder and drum machine, you could probably write an entire song on it. It can get pricy with the in app purchases of other amps and features. But if you buy the bundles you could save quite a bit of money. Overall, I’m happy with the app..Version: 4.7.0

FinallyWell first try and buy amp for $40 and not have any buzz, u won't. Look at this for what is an amazing tool to become a better guitarist. The difference between a guitar player and a guitarist is one plays and the other is an artist hence the ist like in the difference between guitar player and guitar(ist) so this app is not meant to replace your rig. Quite complaining about apps and go practice.Version: 2.1

TONEX?Is it possible to use TONEX pedal or amp like on pc? The possibilities of the app are nice. But it feels kinda old compared to TONEX app. Would be nice to get a small revamp! Could be nice to be able to sync favorite between mobile and pc too!.Version: 4.14.2

Buyer Beware! This is a fantastic app. It's very polished; it looks incredible, and it works exactly as it should. The effects are great, and the 8-track Mixer is a nice touch. I'd like to give it 5 stars, and indeed I would have…if not for their very questionable practices regarding in-app purchases. If you buy the free version, begin loading it up with in-app purchases such as effects pedals and/or the 8-track mixer, and then decide to upgrade it to the full, paid version…GOTCHA! You discover that IK Multimedia will not transfer your in-app purchases to the upgraded version. You are expected to buy all of those in-apps AGAIN! They do not connect your purchases with you, the user; instead they are tied to the app. Similarly, if you bought the app on your iPad to learn how to use it, and then want to use the smaller form-factor iPhone or iPod Touch to play the gig…GOTCHA again! They will not transfer your in-app purchases to your other devices either. I was so terribly disappointed to discover this unethical practice from a company that I was initially so excited about. Don't let their "Musicians first" slogan fool you; it's clearly money first. At the very least they should have written something about this in their descriptions, so we know what we're getting into. I hope this helps someone to avoid being unpleasantly surprised like I was. I really love the app…I just don't love this company anymore..Version: 2.6

FX buttonI record on 1 channel with FX then I use the channel 2 to record using FX but then the channel 1 doesn’t work…it sounds distorted and has no effects, please fix/enable all FX/effects to work all at once!.Version: 4.14.1

Multitasking! We NEED multitasking for this, i need to use it along with iRealBook to make it really useful! I know you guys allowed multitasking for a while but then disabled it... Why ?? because too many stupid people found it too hard to turn it off? Why don't you make multitask an option in the setup menu then? I know you guys would sell a bunch of iRig if you allowed multitasking again! Thanks for listening IK!.Version: 2.0.1

Good for a free version, Use iRig only!Register for the free Distortion Pedal to get more gain out of the amp. Also I just wanted to say that the Amplitube iRig sounds much better than the other cables I've tried from PRS and other companies. Don't use other cables or converters to connect your guitar or it will sound muddy and distorted. I haven't tried the AmpKit LiNK from Peavey but that looks like the only thing that even compares to the iRig, although I seen that unit in the store too and it looks much bulkier than the iRig from IK multimedia. I don't know why but the iRig is actually much smaller than it looks in photos..Version: 0

IrigJust got it. Not bad, not great, I would say it sounds better than a similar gadget i have. Why is there no volume if the gain is all the way down?? Why is the overall volume so low and why is there a "hiss" when volume and doodads are set at high?? I can not get my "free" distortion box, since i dont have wireless acess to register, fantastic! Had to upgrade the ipod software, which means i had to upgrade itunes. The process reset my ipod touch to factory settings, Way to go apple! Lost all my contacts, notes and calendar events! APPLE??????? P.S.: The software worked once, now when i click on it i get the loading screen, then it disappears. So, now i have to waste my life trying to fix it or return the irig hardware. Also on their website they claim:The free version includes 3 stompboxes Well one of the stompbox is a noise reduction, the other 2 are delay boxes, 2 of the same one. Wooopie!.Version: 0

I rig no sound prob fixJust got the i rig and set it up and there was sound at first next time i used it there was no sound at all to fix this issu i tried every thing what it is is in the recording tab the is a m and a s the m means mute just unmuit it and it will work it is a great device glad i got one hope this helps out.Version: 2.0.2

It’s ok...Works well for travelling where you can’t use an amplifier. I found that the amp effects drop out and I have to switch between amps to get them to work again. I also found that it will randomly and suddenly let out a deafening blast of static which is painful to the ears when using ear phones. It may be my settings but I doubt it. It’s a functional app but I’m not going to spend any more money on the expensive upgrades..Version: 4.4.0

I love it!Bought the iRig 2 years ago used all the basic free stuff for quiet home playing and recording and it was fantastic for putting ideas together. I do prefer the iPad layout to the iPhone but that’s only because of screen size. But I Really enjoyed it so I bought the iRig HD 2 just an amazing little device. All the bonus content for the app it comes with is great more then I need I’m sure but it makes the app way more versatile with endless possibilities. I love that I can connect my Blackstar Series One and my own stomp boxes to the iRig HD 2 through to my iPad or Mac and use my actual rig for recording. Great work guys love your apps and interfaces 🤘🏻.Version: 4.12.1

Amplitube CS IK Multimedia Update For ios 15Thank you IK Multimedia for fixing the ios 15 issues causing the app crashing. I've been using your products for 2 years and never had and any issues before, Great work..Version: 4.12.1
