Great new update BUT...I love the brand new UI, a completely renovated look, easy accessible to what I need and where I need it except, I feel like you guys missed out HUGELY on the Capture Gallery. This was that one feature I was looking forward to ever since I made the switch to Playstation. As of right now I can edit and share captured screenshots/videos exclusively only on the console itself and nowhere else. I'd understand if editing would have to be done on the console but sharing clips from my library/profile should be an option on the app! Especially with the new PS5 coming out it'd be a great addition to the PS app to be able to seamlessly share our content/trophies etc. to any social media or be able to forward to our friends. Except there's only one option and that too on console, which is Twitter. It's really sad to see how much Playstation emphasizes on 'Sharing' to the point where there's a dedicated button on the controller for it, yet no support on the app itself. It still has the basic most features the last PS App did, but this time it was just revamped with a nice and clean look. I'm hoping that changes once the PS5 is officially released but I'd love to see a sharing/editing feature integrated within the app. I know it's 100% possible and definitely can be done. New update could be better..I love the new update, It looks great! But there are so many things from the older version that i believe makes it better than the newer version. Being able to customize your profiles look by changing your cover image, profile color, and more was a huge deal for me. Customizing group chats was another cool thing. You can do it in the new version, but it has to be with more than two people. In the new version you can’t do as much as the older version. profiles just look so dull to me now. When you start the app you can see what your recently played games are. When you go to your profile, you can also see what your recently games played are. I think that’s unnecessary and boring. I preferred the old layout. Being able to see your friends, who you’re following, and followers was a lot better. Same goes with seeing friends profile. I really don’t want to see just mutual friends. The what’s new page was also removed. I thought that was a great way to see what your friends are up to. what games they started playing and trophies they’re achieving. I love that you can download games to your console and make purchases though the app. It’s a lot faster than doing it on console..Mel VzVersion: 20.11.1

Love the app but one suggestionHi, I’m kind of new to gaming but I love your app so much, it’s easy to message people back instead of in game with the controller, easy to filter invite spamming to just your phone instead of popping up on the screen repeatedly while you’re in the middle of a game, but why I’m writing this review.. one of the first I’ve ever written without ever being prompted nor asked how I’m enjoying the app (kudos for that too!) is the capture gallery! I love how it saves the clips for a certain amount of time and you can easily just download them to your phone camera roll or send them as a message on play station! I make a lot of random gaming videos to post and the only issue I’ve come across is that they sometimes take days to actually load on the app and be ‘ready’, also (so I guess two things), I can only find the clips from the most recent game I played until I reclip in another game again and then those will pop up. It could be because I clip a lot, but there is an ‘other’ folder at the top now, but it doesn’t lead me anywhere. Wonderful update, but having an issue...After just recently switching to the ps4 after a long time of my buggy ps3, i’m still new to not only ps4 but also the ps app. the app is useful don’t get me wrong and the update was really nice but as a gamer who’s always on/in a voice chat the update is kind of annoying. i’ve seen a couple other people have the same problem and i really suggest you fix this for people who like to use wireless gear. my problem is that i don’t own any wired headsets, and in order to do my voice chatting from my phone it needs that. i know, i can just go to my nearest store and get a decent wired headset but it’s a waste of money if i spend all this money on wireless gear just for it not to be compatible with playstation. on a good note, the UI is way easier. i used to have a lot of trouble on the older version and often some features wouldn’t even work. (such as buying games) luckily this update is better. and now since we can link our consoles it’s 10x as easier for me to get games since at times of the year i’m across the country from my ps4..Itz_DogzforlifeVersion: 20.9.4

Update glitches invites on PS4This new update is pretty bad, has added a number of issues in the PS4 system, as well as not being able to add people to your friends list from the invites you receive. It’s extremely annoying, and I’m almost wondering if it would be easier to switch to XBOX. I’ve been an avid ps fan since the ps1, have had every system available. Now it seems like they don’t care about the people playing anymore, or people who stream. Why can’t we use remote play to play from our PS4 and stream the gameplay as a secondary screen to a PC or Mac, to then use things like OBS. Instead you have to connect your controller to the pc, yet be under the same network. Why have the lag when you could just have the controller connected directly to the PS4 pro and stream from the computer without the lag? What’s up with these issues? I’ve contacted Sony support for the PS4 and have gotten the messaging system ended as soon as I ask any question. It’s seeming extremely dishonorable what SONY has done in the past 6-7 years. I’ve even offered to buy the M.A.G. Streams back to create a new game comparable with the PS4-ps5, with no luck, no contact information, and absolutely rude feedback from SONY..ScottIsHot96Version: 20.9.3

Photo GalleryI really love the newly designed look and UI of the PS App, a great leap in my opinion, but still lacks behind the Xbox/Game Pass Apps. They have the Photo Gallery right there in the bottom of the interface that lets you see your captures, photos or videos. Just like Stadia. Theirs is right at the bottom of under the games you have. I realize how much work it might take to implement this into an all new designed app, and how much space it could take up to build servers or cloud service to store all photos from the PlayStation family; but your app is behind. 5 stars once it’s added as a feature but it’s just great for now. I only use it rarely because of this lacking (important mind you) feature. Because having to upload to Twitter then save tends to degrade not only the video but wastes time when I could just open the app and save or download the video/photo. Then I’d use this religiously. But still, great job Sony/PlayStation and devs that develop all these, it’s still phenomenal..HoneyholedazzlrVersion: 20.11.1

Pretty great, occasionally buggyReal solid app especially if you have a PS5, everything integrates smoothly and cleanly, remote starting downloads on ps5 works great, it’s hit and miss on ps4 sometimes. Biggest issues I have are clicking links or notifications often sends me to an error page instead of the page it should have. Also the search engine for games on the store is pretty weird with how it finds things, will often bring up every add on first and then the actual game. But these things seem to be improving over time. Party chat through the app works great and does searching your library. Only thing I wish I could see easier was the sale price of games I already own to tell friends what the cost is so they can join me. Also sometimes it can be a little finicky with which console is linked and will get confused but for most people this will not be an issue I think.MyPerfectOpinionVersion: 22.11.1

Needs WorkI would have given this a 4 star at least, but it definitely loses one as a result of how SLOW AND LAGGY the app itself is. It’s so frustrating to be in party chat when you have to click the mute icon about 3 times in order for it to register. Moreover, the share screens take a year to flip when turning your phone horizontally, and the screen remains black on the share screen for a good 5 or so seconds before it decides to display the stream. When pulling up the volume slider for an individual party mate, the tab goes so high up it overlaps with other on screen icons like the battery icon on the iphone. In this state it struggles to minimize whenever you hit the ‘x’ icon to cancel the window. There’s a slew of other functions that need to be refined. The idea of everything they have on here is great, and I’m in chat with friends every night while at work. Fixing the latency would allow for a pleasant experience as everything allowed on the app so far is very useful..GodSmitVersion: 23.11.0

Very ConvenientThe app is very useful. Owning a ps5 is great and all, but there are things that the app just happens to do better. Being able to access my clips are great, and the fact that's it does it automatically for me is even better. Although, I wish it was not limited to only short clips and captures. I would love if I could download one of my larger video clips and I also wish there was an option to have the downloads stay permanently on the app rather than them disappearing after a certain amount of time. The message feature is also great. Typing using a keyboard on the PS5 that you have to navigate with a controller joystick is a hassle at times, so being able to send a text message to my friends that they get on their own PS5 while I play my games and don't have to be interrupted by a giant keyboard is such a great feature..RbrtdxnVersion: 23.10.0

Sign-in screen?It’s not a bad app overall. I’m glad they put messaging back into the main app. But it’s been…how many years since Touch ID and Face ID were invented? Yet, Sony still hasn’t figured out a way to have the app connect to either one, and worse, it doesn’t even connect to Apple’s password system. You still have to exit the app, log into whatever password app you’re using, copy and paste the password, go back to the Sony app, etc. PLEASE just make it so that there’s a fingerprint or Face ID scanner within the app’s login field. For a tech company like Sony, it’s been more than enough time for you to figure out how to do this already! Or better yet…maybe stop logging us out constantly on our own phones? This isn’t a banking app; it’s gaming! On an approved device, give us the option to stay logged in. I don’t have to log into Reddit or Pokémon Go every single time I open the app; not sure why I’d have to do it with my PlayStation app..EZE RuthlessVersion: 22.11.0

1 step forward 2 steps back...The app has potential, but now it’s missing so much. The ability to post things from your phone to the What’s New section and the fact that the What’s New section is completely gone (no bueno) being able to comment and like your friends achievements or posts is what made the PS app stand out on top of any other gaming app that’s out there. Messages being intergrated into the app and the fact that you can actually buy things off the PSN are both welcomed changes, but all the accessibility that was in the original app needs to return. Profile customization, themes, I personally enjoyed the fact that close friends or family could see your actual picture with the Avatar made it so much more personal. If those changes are to occur I would not just recommend this app, but if you have a PlayStation, you NEED this app. As of now though the app is just...meh*...hope to see these changes in the future, but this is a decent start..Susanoo83Version: 20.9.4

Needs updateHi, I really like this app it makes a little bit easier for when I am not near my PlayStation to play my games but when I’m using the app I get very low FPS/quality and it makes it really hard to play the game and it also lags like a lot I was wondering if there would be any updates that could fix that issue for this app? If so, that would be really great and make this app a five star instead of a four star and also sometimes it will crash the app or my PlayStation will just lose connection to the app. It’d be great if there was an update that will fix that issue, in the near future this app does come in handy. Great and easy to use.I personally always use this app when I'm on the go, or when I'm unavailable and my friends want to know where I am. Overall, I haven't experienced any flaws in usage and have had an extremely smooth experience. This issue is still related to PlayStation matters, but this is about the website. I have had a recurring problem of when I attempt to add funds to my PS5 account, about 90% of the time it will state that something went wrong, try again later, so on and so forth. I spend a good thirty minutes trying to get the website to actually add the funds. Apparently from research this is just a PS5 problem? Good UI but voice chat annoys meTo start this review I love the UI and features the new update has, and I think it was a lot better compared to the one one. my problem comes when I try to join a voice chat on my phone. I have tried multiple times to use a wireless headset connected to my phone in order to use the voice chat feature but the app doesn't seem to support that function so I'm forced to use earbuds or my speaker in order to talk to someone on the voice chat. I find this incredibly annoying that the app, which is made for phones in order to be easy to use, does not let me use the audio device of my choice to communicate via voice chat. I don't think I should have to be forced to use specifically earbuds on the app when I prefer to use my Bluetooth headphones which have better audio quality. It would be nice for the voice chat feature to be more accessible when it comes to what audio devices you can use with it..Forsanain 45Version: 20.9.4

Not a bad app but needs improvementsThis app is good but it needs improvements like if someone invites you to a party, and you don’t have a mic to connect to your controller. This is a repeating problem, but with my suggestion. It’s to add a function of joining your friends party or heck even having a function even having a mic setting and yet you can’t use it. Here’s another improvement that I suggest, Make sure that if you get an invite to the party, you can actually join the party and chat not giving us the option to get a mic. No doing that., just makes it a waste of time. Do the most good thing and do it. Don’t leave the people without mics. Make sure that they get the best gift from you Sony. Love the app but needs to add some feautersIn my opinion the app is a great idea but there is some problems that i have on ios. 1. I cant see my any of my clips or photos or my captured gallery in general they should add a feature where if we press on a game we could see all of our clips on apple/ios ofc. 2. Needs some work.I would have started at 4 stars and then given you 5, but I felt like you wouldn’t fix what I’m asking for. I think the UI is pretty good and works fine on iPhone X and I have few issues with it. BUT, there are 2 things I REALLY want changed and I don’t know if I’m alone here, but I think they would make the experience a lot better. 1.) On the PSN feature of the app, it is confusing to navigate. The part that is confusing is the back button. It is too hard to find and the X button kicks you out of PSN leaving you to start all over. Messages (Copy Paste)I have a problem when it comes to messaging people on psn. My problem is that I’m unable to copy and paste. It really is a problem because my friend was trying to send me a link to a warzone stunt and I was unable to click it because it said the url was hidden. I assume he had to type in the link and he shouldn’t have to do that. And I was trying to send him a link to one of my exclusive videos and the link didn’t work for him either. It’s really annoying when you’re unable to send links and copy paste. I’m sure a lot of other people are having the same problem. New app looks goodI’m really liking the new look. Especially the resolution upgrade. Everything just looks way better. Definitely next gen release worthy. Only request is that we can make the photos and videos full screen, when viewing the game pages. And make it so that iPads can view the app in landscape mode please. A nice change but a few steps backwardsA nice change for sure as the old app was getting a little outdated. Pluses - Interface looks really nice and organized well. Setup is easy and overall a nice update from the previous app. Minuses - Portrait mode on the iPad has been removed. This is a big bummer as using an iPad Pro 12.9 in portrait mode for browsing and typing is a awkward. Not sure why that feature was removed. All iPad apps should support both orientations. Also, they removed the ability to add favorites from the online store. This was a great feature as you could essentially add a bookmark to a game or games you may want to purchase in the future. On the Nintendo Switch not only can you favorite games but they’ll let you know when those games go on sale, which is really nice. PS Stars ProgramSo happy they added another reward system besides trophies. Although I do think the images used for the display cases looks a little tacky. I mean it can’t just be me who thinks that, right? The 3D digital collectibles look great but when shown in the display cases just on top of a low quality background doesn’t fit at all. If they could possibly have some sort of depth to them or maybe just polish them, up the quality or something to further motivate players to earn and be proud of what they have displayed. I have faith that the people at PlayStation that are know for giving us high quality items could fix this simple matter. Perfect but…The app and its new UI is perfect. I love how you can save which games you’ve had your eye on to your wish list. It would be nice if a feature could be added that would tell you when a game on your wish list has gone on sale. Besides that, the app works very well. Suggestion: Please consider adding a capture gallery to the app. I take lots of captures that I like to share and having a capture gallery integrated into the PS app would be the cherry on top. Review UpdateUpdate: Love the new update and pretty much fixed everything I had mentioned expect the streaming stuff which doesn’t matter cause I have the twitch app. Great UI, I’m very surprised by the new update. Old Review: The app design is great and all but the fact that the psn store is not built in is horrible, instead it directs you to the psn website in safari. I would like to purchase content from the app not log in to the website and buy games or dlc, makes no sense. Also the live from playstation feature can at least send you to the twitch, and ustream apps instead of the website. 5 stars BUT...The app is great! It has improved a lot over the years, and I’m loving it. However, the only thing it is missing for me and I wish it becomes available in the future is access to recorded videos on the PS5. It would nice to be able to manage the multimedia tab of the PS5 on the mobile app. Currently, I find myself sending my recordings and pictures to myself on the PS5 and then open the app and download it from the chat to my phone. Moreover, the chat does not allow video downloads, so I have to use the screen recording feature on my phone. Little things I hope that they become available in the future. These would help A LOT! Not a review of the app it self but more of the PSN network as a wholeThe PlayStation app works quite well, as I’ve encountered few glitches or bugs, though it can be hard to navigate compared to the old way. However there are some issues that I have with the PlayStation Network that apply to this app. First, you can no longer change your cover image from the app, or the website for that matter. I have no idea why they removed this feature as now it’s much more difficult to change the cover image, and it often looks worse because you’re having to take a screenshot of something rather than download the image. Second, Playstation does not allow you to delete shared media so if you post anything, it stays on your profile. This is another feature that seems so obvious to have, as sometimes you post something and later don’t want to see it. Third, when you become friends with someone, you automatically follow them and they follow you back. But if you unfriend them they will still be following you, and you can’t make them unfollow you unless you block them. Once again, it seems only logical to have the ability to control who follows you and who doesn’t but Playstation does not allow you that. If PlayStation could give more freedom to users it would make their network much better..GschraerVersion: 20.11.1

PS Video ReviewApparently the PS Video app is no longer available because Sony does not care about its customers. I have been a life long PlayStation user and began building a library of movies through their store only to have Sony stop selling movies and television in their PlayStation store. Now viewing my purchased movies is a nightmare. Not only am I unable to download my films to my console but even viewing my films through the trash ps video app is terrible. I downloaded some movies to my phone and the film still has issues loading and will frequently restart my movies rather than picking up where I left off. Sonys handling of videos purchased through PS is hot garbage and leaves loyal customers out to dry. This conduct is a huge middle finger to anyone who has purchased tv and film in their store. The more time that passes the harder it gets to view purchased content. Sadly many of the movies I love were purchased through Sony and PS and I will have to buy them again (definitely not through Sony or any extension of Sony). Sony should do the right thing and offer some form of compensation for discontinuing the services that are needed to view purchased content. I shouldn’t have to stream movies I bought and should be able to download them to my console if I choose to. Even one star for this travesty of an app/service..Gh0st1984Version: 22.4.0

PlayStation Is a ScamIf I knew my first amendment rights were going to be violated without a hearing of either side, having robots that are the “best” at looking at detail while a report is in, and it doesn’t matter if one is reported first after also the other sending links to hack my account and also acts like he is a minor. And then there isn’t a way to appeal the fact it’s a short amount of days… but it’s something I paid to use. I pay a monthly fee. So this removal of some days should be refunded. But there isn’t also a way to call them or start a Robot chat. The app is honestly trash. Use the crap console instead of this app. Use the trash plastic junk Until it either sounds like it’s finna explode or it just doesn’t work because honestly it’ll be outdated once ps69 comes out. Honestly the developers of this could’ve been used to fix the gaming community and the toxicity. Maybe separate the age gap in matches and less cross play because fps is another issue. but instead heres a app that is honestly like, there’s better phone calls apps then this. It’s also weird how they go back and fourth with the message app which is also trash. Don’t bother buying games hereWhy did you take away the ability to sort games in the store by release date? Or any other criteria for that matter? Do you not want people to buy games anymore? It sure seems like it. This applies to the PS5 UI too by the way. I really don’t want to see the best selling games and have no way of changing the sorting. In fact, I find myself not browsing for new games at all anymore. I used to buy games all the time on impulse, but now I never do because you have made it so hard to find new games and add-ons. Needs workThis app is definitely better than the old PlayStation app now that it combines everything, although it does not do this very well. The UI is decent but it’s not as fluid as the original UI and has some pointless screens especially in the messages/parties/friends tabs. The overall PlayStation search a user system is broken and annoying now too. You used to be able to search a player’s gamer tag and see the 1 and only result of their name, but now searching a gamer tag often shows a list of unrelated users and friends who share key words with the name you searched and lists the one person you searched somewhere in the middle of all of that and if you’re lucky they’ll appear as the very last result. Sometimes the user won’t even appear at all and you have to go through the same process on the console to get what you want. Also I miss the feature to turn on the PlayStation from the app if both were on the same network. Looks great, buuut pretty disappointed1st, there is no wishlist. I don’t know why the felt like this feature was unnecessary. Having a wishlist actually got me to spend MORE money. Incompetent & CarelessWith all the resources Sony has, they’re utterly incompetent & honestly, I think they intentionally try NOT to make good applications. This is across the board. Only their TVs, console, and phones are good, but the application support across the board is disgustingly bad. This simply doesn’t work, or work inconsistently to the point it’s not usable. I get an error when I type my password in to purchase every time. Works online but what’s the point of the conscience for an app that doesn’t work had the time? Be careful when buying!Unless you enjoy jumping through burning hoops to try and get your Pre-order or Unplayed games refund, then make sure what you’re buying is exactly what you want. Because your money is as good as gone once you hit X on that purchase. Instead of a simple button somewhere on the purchase screen or in the settings, you can expect to go talk in a chat to a robot for 15 minutes. After you provide the robot with all your details (already exhausting), you can expect to wait 30 minutes in the chat window for a “Live” agent. Once you get to that part he will ask for all of the same information you already provided the robot. About 15 minutes into that, he will then tell you that he has wonderful news for you and you will be getting your refund! Mind you I didn’t get to this part when I tried to cancel my previous $100 Pre-order, because “Error loading the page. There are too many requests…” This time I was determined! Not as good as it used to be!The app itself has grown as far as U.I. For example, the Playstation Store is now easier to navigate and find, such as most everything in the app, but I give it such a low rating because, for me, the past version of this app had two really important features that kept me using this app often. The first feature is the where it allows you to turn on and off your PlayStation while connected to the same Wi-Fi as your PlayStation. I used to always do this when I was too lazy to get up and turn it off while I was laying in bed on my phone, but now this feature is gone. Looks great but missing key featuresThe new UI is great. Navigation is smooth, and it’s fairly easy to get around. However, I just skipped the PS Store Black Friday sale because of this app. Why? Fix costumer serviceMy friend and I told me to game share. I said yes like a good friend would because him and I need each other games. While i was gonna give him my account my PlayStation signed me out, because i have like 5 passwords and i signed me out on my (I think) 3rd try. Convenient but slow and buggyIt’s nice being able to check messages, see trophies, manage points and collectibles, see what friends are up to, and look at stats like the amount time a game has been played for. But the app is crazy slow and buggy compared to modern apps. It takes one to three minutes to load. This is absurd. Abysmal. Embarrassing. Trying to message someone real quick? 30 seconds for it to stop bugging out enough for you to tap the messages button (longer if it gives you an in app notification first). 30-60 seconds to scroll down and open the message. 15s for the keyboard to come up. 15-30s for the message to send. And don’t you dare try to click back to the main menu, because that’s at least another minute. Sure, these times are not technically very long. 🤔The PlayStation app has lots of good features and helps me know when to play on PC or PlayStation. The big problem is that for user that doesn’t use the PlayStation app very often I often find myself signed out of the PlayStation app every update! Captures aren’t workingI’d love to use the features on this app for sharing content from my games with friends, but, honestly, it’s in a sorry state. It is incredibly inconsistent with uploading screen caps and video clips, even under 20 seconds long. Trying to save or download media sent even by myself through the PlayStation Messages feature proves pointless, as the only option that exists is to delete said screen cap/video clip. No option on the PlayStation 5 itself to directly upload to the app. The only sure-fire way is spending several minutes using a USB-drive to import to computer, and then to phone. Not the worst task in the world to accomplish by any means, but having the app function seamlessly with game captures would make the all around experience much easier and less of a hassle. Poor qualityWhen I first started using the PlayStation app it worked very well because I would only use it to check which of my friends were online when I was away. Cant redeem points. Wasting time and real money.I just wanna redeem the points I’ve earned. But there is one big problem thag I personally have run into countless time; the login. App stops uploading Share media.App stops transferring media from the console after a short time of regular usage. After testing around with some friend’s PS apps we’ve come to the conclusion that PS wants you to get habituated to using the app to share. But then, PS stops loading the media to the app quite abruptly. The use of only the “Share” and “PS App” is incredibly convenient, but Sony gathers little in the way of data during that exchange. They want you to link your Twitter and YouTube accounts to continue to share as that opens up a much larger data trove for these companies to exploit. By making the app stop uploading your shares, it forces you to share your videos and images directly to an intermediary, in this case YouTube and/or Twitter, and in the process gathers a wealth of user data they simply couldn’t have access to if you only used the “Share” function and “PS app” to get the media off your console. This problem is pervasive. Just search and you’ll find it’s been going on for years with no solution from PlayStation customer service. That’s because this is not a glitch, it’s baked into the functionality of PS app. Never forget, your data is worth money. So PS doing this media transfer service for free is only meant to get you in the door. Then they pull the rug out and you’re forced to link these accounts to share. A workaround to this is to use an external HD or USB, but it’s not nearly as convenient as the instant console to app sharing the app initially offers. Linking to Twitter and YouTube is also not as convenient, but it’s still faster than the USB method. It’s a disappointment all around from a company that already asks way too much of its user-base. Horrific Confusing UI ExperienceThere was nothing wrong with the old app layout, same with the old web store. This new system is ugly, cluttered, and (intentionally?) confusingly laid out. It’s very difficult to search for and specific content in. Worst of all, I can’t find a shopping cart or wish list option anywhere. Also, WHERE IS MY PS3 and VITA CONTENT?!? Worried for the future of the platform.The removal of PSP, PS3 and PSVita games from the ps store and the library has me weary about the future of my PlayStation backlog. While I’m happy to finally have a catalogue beyond the awful “download list” their omission seems to only herald the inevitable removal of my PS4 backlog.
