Recover Athletics App Comments & Reviews

Recover Athletics Positive Reviews

All runners should use this with no exceptionsEvery time someone complains to me about their running injury, I recommend this app. The free version is completely sufficient to decide if it will be useful to you. I upgraded to premium recently because this app has helped me feel in control of my running injuries. The workouts are short enough to not mess up your day, but I still notice improvements week-to week in my balance and strength. The Strava integration is key because the app reminds you to do a short workout when you finish your run, right when your motivation is high, and you can publish your workouts to Strava. You can absolutely use this app on its own, but I’ve been able to have my physical therapist approve routines and set up custom ones to help me recover from injuries. The app has everything you need and nothing you don’t (no ads, hallelujah). I found this app on an Instagram ad of all places, and I have no complaints because this app is perfect and it’s making my life better..Version: 1.6.0

Recovery Athletics Running App is a way overdue evidence-based, user-friendly tool for runners.Recover Athletics Running app is a way overdue evidence-based tool for runners. As a lifetime serious recreational runner and now triathlete, I have been waiting for something like this for years. The arduous task of obtaining a primary doc referral, scheduling and attending an initial PT appointment only to be handed a wordy description of what exercises/stretches my latest injury requires (sometimes with stick figure diagrams if I’m fortunate), I often feel like the experience of transferring meaningful recovery information could be more user-friendly. When I stumbled upon the Recovery Athletics Running app with the short, clear, and sharp videos specific to the injury I was ecstatic. This app is way overdue and greatly appreciated by this runner. The fact that the exercises and stretches are evidence-based from a highly credible pool of medical and PT professionals makes it a home run..Version: 1.2.4

No more knee pain!I’m in my late 50’s started running a year and a half ago. Started slow with waking, to walk run alternating, to all runs. Progressed in distance no more than 10% a week. Tried lots of things for knee pain. Better shoes, yoga, longer intervals between runs, a variety of warm ups and cool downs, running coach, strengthening exercises, running on grass, running on trails, and beaches. Still hurt. I have been using the app now for a month. Just finished 4.5 miles PB time. No pain. 😆Great value, short easy to follow videos. Video format talking only at the beginning then silent. You can watch the video without annoying repetitive narration. Videos continue until you are done. No need to start over. Helps in perfecting form..Version: 1.5.14

It’s good but there is always areas for improvementI’ve had this app for a week and I’ll admit it’s going to take discipline to follow it every day. 1/2 the time I run with a group and meet them 15-20 minutes from where I live so it’s hard to do a warm up before I leave and I’m not going to lie on the cold parking lot asphalt to do it before we start running. Same goes for some of the stretches afterwards and by the time I get home I’m cold and done. One thing I would like to see instead of doing all the sets of the exercises at one time. The app should repeat the sets until you’re finished with the work out. The first time I did it I thought that’s what it did and then I had to start over when I realized it didn’t. A couple of things I haven’t figured out is: 1. I’m 50+ different days different parts of my body hurt worse and there is no way to rate the areas that are tighter than others and I can’t figure out how to change my focus points by starting over with the assessment, I thought when I purchased the premium it would let me but haven’t figured it out. 2. How to share workouts with family members. My son is training for his first 1/2 and I’d like to share custom workouts I created with him. Otherwise, I like the versatility of it..Version: 1.5.10

Just what we needed! We signed up for an annual account so that we could use family sharing. Had little trouble getting the family sharing set up, but when I reached out to the developers they got back immediately and worked with us until everything was working correctly. We have high school runners heading off to college to run and a couple of parents who run to stay healthy and this app has been great for all of us! Love that you can pick out right where the pain is and get exercise to strengthen that area. We have had so much success with this app. Try it out, use if consistently for a few weeks, and I bet you will notice a difference too!.Version: 1.3.7

All Levels of Runners Need ThisI’ve always been skeptical about running apps; especially workout/stretching because they never actually target the needs of runners. But this does just that by targeting the needs of runners! Great app and easy to use, I highly recommend adding this to your arsenal if you’re serious about improving your overall fitness and avoiding injuries. One recommendation for the developers: if someone doesn’t know the area they are having a problem with, can a “click here” feature be added and then asks more details about specific area? Then from there a formula picks out the area that’s affected.Version: 1.5.2

Great app for runners!I had been doing my own strength training and thought I had everything covered, but am realizing how many areas of common running injury I was inadvertently neglecting. I feel much more confident going into marathon training knowing that I’m doing a wide variety of prehab exercises. The app is very clear and easy to follow, and I especially like the explanation of why certain exercises are important. My only suggestion is more variety in core routines/exercises (including for those of us with diastasis recti)..Version: 1.6.0

Hip Flexor issues, I now have hopeI started running a little over 4 years ago I have run several 5K,8K,10K,15K, and 2 half marathons. After a hamstring tear injury, it has been hard getting back on track. Once I started back running, I noticed my hips were very sore, so with the app I make sure I do the 5 minute warm up and the hip flexor post run segment. It has truly made a difference in my running pace and I am in hopes of running a full marathon one day. I am grateful for this app and grateful as well for movement..Version: 1.5.7

Great appI’ve been using this app for about 2 months now. It’s definitely helped with areas that need strengthening and stretching. One thing I wish it had was a short video preview of the workout before I select it so I know if that’s what I want to do on any given day or in any session. Also would be great if you could get some people of color as workout demonstrators in addition to Meb. Brown people run too. Otherwise keep up the amazing work! Thanks for creating the app!.Version: 1.3.9

Enjoying the app! Great, quick reminders.I’ve been using this app after workouts and I love that it uses my Strava history to suggest something that isn’t too long. I do wish it had a better timer. Something with a countdown after I switch exercises and also a light chime that tells me when to switch. Unless I’m looking at my phone the whole time, the timer right now isn’t very useful. Given some positions aren’t really great for also looking at your phone this would be a welcomed addition..Version: 1.287.1

It works.I just signed up for the Recover app last week because of some knee and hip pain while training for the Boston marathon. I have done the recovery strength exercises for both the knee and calf so far and can already see a huge benefit. There was a time before I download this app that I thought I may not make it through the 26.2 miles, but now I have hope that I can strengthen the supporting muscles for these tendons and joints enough for a pain-free run..Version: 1.5.14

LimitedThis app has great stuff for lower body and covers most common injuries for running and cycling. However given the general name and nature of what they advertise they are very limited in actual recovery. There is hardly anything for core and most of the stuff for core is NOT recovery exercises if you have an actual core injury (such as diastasi recti or post op). And there is nothing for shoulder or upper body injuries at all. They definitely should hire a team of corrective exercise specialists and expand their workouts and library to cover those core and upper body recoveries. Until then 3 stars for how limited it is..Version: 1.287.1

Has quickly helped my feet, ankles and sore tendons and musclesLove the collections of targeted exercises. When they didn’t have a set for the peroneal tendinitis I’ve been dealing I told support and they put together and released a treatment plan in just a few days that has helped me to run pain free. Have also been helped by some of the other sets including the warmup routines. Now if I can just motivate myself to keep doing the exercises when I’m pain free!.Version: 1.5.0

If you run, you need this!Recover Athletics is probably the best app I have found for runners (after the C25K app that got me started down this road in the first place). I have had injuries to my ankle in the past that were starting to creep back up on me. I was able to use RA’s exercises to help build strength in my feet and legs to help prevent further injury and rebuild mobility in my ankle. Definitely give them a shot! You won’t regret it!.Version: 1.5.8

I’m not a runner but I really like this app!!!I’m a construction worker, I also do calisthenics 2-3 times a week but I’ve also got arthritis in my knees. I needed an app that had the right exercises and stretches that would keep me on the path to recovery and I think this is it. I also like the voice explanations and videos, plus you can pick movements that customize what you need help with. The only reason why I’m not giving it 5 stars is because it doesn’t write to the Apple Health app and I don’t use Starva or whatever it’s called..Version: 1.2.8

When you don’t want to do your PT…it’s your friendly reminderAn app for all runners (injured or not)- it makes doing your pre/rehab exercises so much less intimidating and time consuming. It is concise and gives you all the details (reps, sets, video) plus ab exercises and other strength. I was looking for an app like this for a long time and it’s finally here- simple straight forward mobile phone based PT in your pocket..Version: 1.5.4

Best app to keep runners healthyI love this app. As a coach and runner, I highly recommend it. The app generates recoveries based on your input. The studio is a great suite of strength training exercises and stretches as well. I’ve been using the app for 1+ month and the nagging pains I was experiencing before are gone. Now I use the app’s many pre-hab exercises to keep me healthy. I strongly urge runners of any ability to download and start using this app immediately..Version: 1.1.9

The best app for runners!!!!!Seriously. I am a high school runner who has been injury prone in the past, and has talked to some physical therapistsa however, this app literally has everything that any of those therapists would say + more and it's FREE! Obviously this doesn't replace a real doctor and it certainly isn't perfect, but as far as an injury prevention app it's about as good as it gets. Certainly pretty niche but if this is something you are into, you want this app!.Version: 1.1.6

Get it free with Strava it’s awesomeFinally! I’ve been looking for little post run supplemental workouts for at home or right after wherever I am at. This app does just that. Most workouts require minimal equipment like resistance band or roller. You can see a trainer doing the movements with you so you can see if you’re doing them right. Looking forward to incorporating more of the mobility into my routines..Version: 1.285.0

No more messy papersAs a Massage Practitioner/Personal Trainer/Health Coach, I was constantly writing down little exercises for my clients to do as homework. I even tried to shoot a bunch of videos to make something like this. It was overwhelming when my time is better spent with my clients. Now I have an app I use and can recommend to my clients instead of writing down little exercises on scratch paper. Great program!.Version: 1.5.10

Great for Beginners, Pros, and anyone in betweenThis app has a great wealth of useful features for anyone looking to recover from an injury or just keep their running game strong. I love the ability to track your pain levels and the dynamic stretching/recovery regimes it suggests. The videos are super helpful for learning how to perform the exercises and it’s really intuitive to use! Check it out if you’re in need of a great way to keep yourself going strong!!.Version: 1.1.6

ExcellentThe app gives you canned "workouts" around specific muscle groups. I wish we could build our own out of contituent parts and that for every exercise there was at least one variation to make it easier and one to make it harder. Also it's sometimes confusing what exactly they mean with some reps. Strava integration reduces some friction and the price is right..Version: 1.3.8

Well Thought Out AppI’m running a trail ultra in a few months with lots of technical and hills. This app is exactly what I need to be fully prepared especially at age 61. I’ve run a lot of trail ultras and always felt like something could have been better prepared. I really think I’ll be as ready as I can possibly be with the help of this app. Looking forward to seeing the results!.Version: 1.7.0

Super useful appWith someone with extremely flat feet I’m prone to constant shin flare ups with increasing mileage. They have specific stretches and exercises catered to different parts of the legs that cause problems for runners and the exercises only take a few minutes each to complete. You can schedule what days a week you prefer to do your exercises and for what. Extremely helpful for high mileage runners to build strength and avoid injury..Version: 1.1.6

Steady improvement!I’ve had lingering pain for 3-4 years. It really only hurt when I wasn’t running. I’ve tried different stretches, rollers and massag3 guns with limited and temporary results. In the two months since I’ve begun using the app twice a week and I’ve noticed gradual, cumulative improvement. I’m really happy with this app..Version: 1.5.14

Great app, would like Apple Watch integrationI love this app, super easy and motivating to incorporate regular strength and mobility with my running routine. Love that it comes with a Strava subscription. The only down side is the compatibility with Apple Watch. I use Apple Watch, Strava, and MyFitnessPal for health tracking. The Recover workouts auto sync with Strava and MyFitnessPal, but as they don’t connect to my heart rate tracking on Apple Watch, they show up as zero calorie burn on MyFitnessPal..Version: 1.7.4

New to the appI’m new to the app and love this often overlooked component of training! I’m just learning my way around the app and I am using the free version. The stretches and strengthening exercises based on my needs are great! The one area that I don’t see is the forearms and hands. As a climber, I need some helpful recovery for my forearms and hands. Am I missing something? Or would you consider adding it? Thanks!.Version: 1.347.0

Great app, but the “soreness tracker” doesn't workThe app is great in providing multiple strength training plans, recovery options, and notifications to stretch after I run. The workouts take anywhere from 10-20 minutes. The free version is limited in videos, but the paid subscription is worth it! I use the app almost every day for recovery or strength training. The downfall of the app - soreness tracker. I cannot get my soreness tracker to work. I do the recovery workout, as there is no input for my soreness. I can't click on the chart to change the soreness level. I have tried deleting the app, signing out, and anything else I can think of to troubleshoot. Nothing works. I have emailed the company twice and still no response. I recommend this app, you will have to keep track of your soreness..Version: 1.3.3

The best way to fight running injuriesAs a seasonal runner, I have a lot of flair ups when I start running again in the spring. This app has been truly critical in keeping me healthy and running. Anytime I have a slight nagging pain post run, I open the app, complete the body scan, and marvel as the app walks me through stretches and strengthening that directly impacts my pain points..Version: 1.1.6

Extremely helpful appI’m new to the running scene . This app has helped me tremendously with exercises and stretches I did not know about . Very detailed and informative everything I could ask for next to having my own trainer . Also the support is super helpful if you have any questions!!.Version: 1.5.1

Great supportJust starting to use the app but had an issue w the premium version loading on my phone. Tech support was very responsive and helpful fixing issue. Exercises seem helpful and tailored. Hope they keep adding more, as I think I’ll move through these routines fairly weekly. Seems like a good app for runners therapy and strength!.Version: 1.2.1

Convenient and effectiveThis is a really great app! It’s so convenient in that equipment is generally not needed, and you can do the exercises anywhere. The app explains the purpose of each exercise, and then demonstrates each of them. It more than pays for itself with only a few uses!.Version: 1.5.14

Only way to stay injury freeThis app is the best way to stay on top of all those little aches and pains that develop into injuries. On top of that it honestly has the BEST platform to elevate your game in running. Not only can you work on form drills and dynamic flexibility, but you have workout routines and core exercises designed by elites and curated by the best coaches in the business..Version: 1.3.5

Great appThis app is great if you are a runner, or anyone who is physically active I would highly recommend this app. It quickly relieves you of your soreness with a short workout. Not only is it highly effective they also have great customer support and they are super helpful and nice. 10/10 would recommend.Version: 1.1.6

All runners (and athletes) need thisMaintenance PT is essential for any runner to achieve their goals. Outside of motivation the one thing that will keep u from running and getting faster is injury. So many runners get injured every year when proper dynamic workouts can prevent this. This app showed me how to get rid of nagging soreness in my knees and Ive been running happy ever since..Version: 1.1.5 (9)

Helping me get more flexible with less pain!!!As an older rider this helps with cramping and they are very convenient. I like being able focus on specific areas as well as using the pre-ride & post-ride stretches. Big difference since started using!!👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻.Version: 1.342.0

A real difference makerThe on-demand tailored and easy to follow routines are paramount to my ability to fit proactive recovery into my incredibly busy routine. I just don’t have time to make routine trips to PT, nor do I always remember. The Recover App helps me set aside the 10 minutes a day for proactive that make a huge difference in my running..Version: 1.1.5 (9)

Great app, one small requestThe Recover app has been a great help to me providing stretches and rehab exercises to deal with the aches and pains of running. One request, it’s hard to see the timer when it overlaps the video of the person demonstrating the exercises because the black digits overlap the black clothing the person is wearing. Thanks for making a great app..Version: 1.287.1

AccountabilityIt’s much easier to stay committed to keeping the body resilient through healing movement patterns when you get reminded with intuitive suggestions after each workout. I feel like Strava has really invested in the endurance community with this healing through movement addition to its training service.Version: 1.280.0

Amazing app!Incredibly functional and intuitive to use. Definitely should be in an athletes toolbox of fitness apps that one would realistically use. This aspect of fitness often overlooked (personally) until injuries present themselves. Great positive reinforcement to address proactively 😊.Version: 1.317.0

New favorite app!I’ve been using this app for a little while now and I love it! It keeps me consistent with my recovery and strengthening. I love that you can choose different target areas to work on. The exercises are quick and effective and easy to incorporate into a daily running routine!.Version: 1.2.9

Nice recovery workoutI like the timer feature, and the fact that it’ll move through a work out. However, I’d prefer if it would give a cute when you should switch sides and would move onto the next exercise without needing interaction from me..Version: 1.287.1

Best. app. ever!!!!!!!!Recover has completely saved my life. I’m an Olympic Trials Qualifier in the marathon and was looking for the best way to recover from the wear and tear of marathon training. Since using this app, I’ve had FAR less issues with my hips and IT band which tend to be stubborn areas for me. Training is so much better with Recover :).Version: 1.1.7

Poor recommendationsWhen I got this app, it would make logical recommendations based on the workout I just completed and it would show how far I ran. Something changed and it recommends the same 2 or 3 nonsense workouts regardless of what workout I did. For example it will recommend a warm up after a workout. Disappointed..Version: 1.285.0

Right ankle painI have sprained my ankle 5+ times in my like l. I always have a pain/soreness in my right ankle after running even just a few miles. Since downloading this app and taking the time to do preventative work outs - my ankle issues have improved greatly. Thanks!.Version: 1.1.6

Good ishI like that I can publish my recovery to Strava, but there are hardly any free routines (I switch between two because they are the only relevant free ones for me). Seems like it should be free for me to make my own routine so I can do what my coach recommends and still post that to Strava. The best part is that I can track my soreness and that it reminds me to do some sort of recovery..Version: 1.7.4

Great appThis is a fantastic app only done two workouts but very impressed with how easy to use and affective they I plan on doing it every night.Version: 1.273.0

Alot of PotentialIt’s a great concept, I like using it but do feel that there needs to be more guided workouts with more variety. The custom routine feature is a good idea but I find it very hard to actually build a routine on the app. I find you have to be extremely careful with where your fingers are because it seems very buggy and glitchy. I wish there was a way to share/learn from other users to build more comprehensive workouts. I almost think if there was a web based version of this app it would be easier to build workouts on a computer..Version: 1.330.0

Great for minor aches and painsReally nice app for some minor twinges I have. There could be some improvements and updates for things but helped me manage some minor aches and pains.Version: 1.287.1

Not worth the Strava price increases $$$Would rather have a less expensive Strava subscription..Version: 1.287.1

Has potentialGlad to have this included in my Strava subscription, but I probably wouldn’t pay for it otherwise. Lacking some basic features such as set counter, and countdown timer. I also don’t think some of the stretches have enough cues to ensure that you’re doing them properly. Hopefully Strava focuses on developing this now that they’ve acquired it!.Version: 1.285.0

This is better than PhysioThis app is great at getting my kinks worked out. I hope they expand the different stretches going forward.Version: 1.6.7

Great app - lower body onlyWould love some shoulder and upper body routines, otherwise these are easy to follow and helpful, the format is great. Definitely my favourite app for targeting stretches..Version: 1.7.4
