So much fun! I’m a little worried though.This app works beautifully. Especially with music that has a strong beat, like trance. However, I’m worried because I’m not sure at all if the rapid color changing, and especially the strobe effects, are damaging to the light bulbs or not. Fun app but cuts off after a few songsSo I got this app before I even received my hue bulbs in the mail and at first it’s a blast to use especially during this quarantine. I do have an issue though, sometimes the light show randomly stops and I’m not able to reconnect. I usually have to exit the app and sometimes disconnect the lights as well to reset and try again. Great App, Improvements?Great App imakestuff. I have a few recommendations for you. The microphone sensitivity is pretty extreme. The line between going fully crazy and just barely lighting up is very small. This wouldn't be a major issue, but the microphone processor captures all the highs as well as mids and lows, which makes the bulbs change unnecessarily quick. Process this function so that the subwoofer kicks are the only thing that make it change, regardless if the airspace is getting lit up with snares, claps, and other synths at the same time. I know this might be pretty hard to do, but it would make the Mic sensitivity function way more on point. Maybe a "subwoofer" button and "full range" button? (People could optimize it even more by placing their phone close to the sub.) The cycling on the mood lights setting also switches pretty quick, regardless of how long you have the cycle for. Try to make the colors SLOWLY blend into each other, rather than quick and often. This would greatly increase the functionality of the mood lighting, and would look more professional. It does work, with a suggestion...The app works to listen to the mic and changes the lights in hue and brightness, with options for gradual or immediate shifts. I play music to the stereo via AirPlay from the iPad, and the iPhone listens and changes the lighting. It's not well synchronized to the beat, because the mic does not discriminate between high frequency and low frequency sounds. The app should filter to listen to only low frequency instruments such as bass and bass drum (or high freq like hi hat), so the lights can sync to the beat better. But as is, it can help turn your living room into a pseudo dance floor. Strobe feature works well, but you have to hit a button for it rather than have it mixed in with music reactive lighting. This is really a 4 star app, but I gave it 5 because the 1 stars aren't so accurate to my experience. Here's the awesome thing tho. NONE OF THESE APPS REQUIRE EXCLUSIVITY. The best Hue app out thereI've bought a few Philips Hue apps and have researched a few more. This is by far the best one out there. You will definitely NOT be disappointed! Though it's called Hue Disco, it actually is so much more versatile. It can listen to music from ANY source…and not just from iTunes like Ambify does…and can create color sequences to the beat. There's a separate mood feature which has different themes. There's also a strobe light feature also. And you can control which bulbs and add-ons at any time you want controlled by the app. This app is awesome. I hope they branch out to color sequences based on video as well. Awesome app!I just got my Hue Starter Kit and was having trouble figuring out how to make my lights respond to music in the background--but I am admittedly impatient. In any event, switching from the app that came with the Hue and using Hue Disco instead made getting my lights to change color and intensity in response to ambient sounds quick and easy. I'm not sure why others have been having problems getting Hue Disco to pair with their Hue Bridge, but mine paired up right away. The interface in this app is incredibly intuitive--much better than the app Philips provides. I was up and running in less than a minute once I downloaded and ran this app. All I can say is that Hue Disco was WELL worth the paltry 3 bucks I paid for it. Great app! Something changed that shouldn’t haveI used to enjoy this app but now it seems like it just turns most of the lights off and that’s it. Turning strobe mode on works - but I definitely don’t want them to only strobe. Something changed in the last year or so, either in this software or the API it’s using. (It’s also possible that it’s having issues with the number of lights I have - my entire house is set up with Hue, about 50 lights, and while I don’t set them all to control by this app, it may still be a lot more than most people are using.).Eddie OffermannVersion: 3.5

Getting worse, still decent.I do like this app, I like the options it has. It is reactive to music, so it it always a bit behind beat drops. Recently it has been strobing the light, even when you choose a color pallet that doesn’t include white and it’s on “smooth”. Not working with 27 lightsThis app worked fine when i had the starter kit + two GU10 lights. Now our whole loft is equiped with 27 Phillips Hue lights and this application crash everytime i use it.
