Engine Link - OBD II diagnosis App Comments & Reviews

Engine Link - OBD II diagnosis Positive Reviews

Custom interface panels are clunky at bestOk. It works with LeLink and it works with custom PIDs. I wish for a way to delete the default screens I don’t use (I have an EV) and more screens with smaller blocks for more data on the screen. I’ve heard there’s a new app on the block for iOS that does what this does..Version: 7.4

Doesn’t show certain sensors and dtc’sThe app definitely works. Except I don’t get the codes showing in this app that I get when I take it to the automotive store. I’m guessing because it uses a generic OBDII list of trouble codes. I have P0327 which is a knock sensor low input that doesn’t show in this app. I also have an ABS sensor and and YAW sensor malfunction that doesn’t show up in Engine Link..Version: 6.5

For Gen II PriusHaven’t had codes to read or clear yet but what I like most is the PID values for Prius hybrid battery. Shows the 14 block voltages and internal resistance in real time, plus inverter temperature and many other hybrid system values. A better user interface would make it a 5 star app for my needs. But just the Prius specific values make it well worth $5.99..Version: 7.1

Excellent Product SupportThe technicians at K Solutions provided unheard of factory support toward helping me create a workable PID for their EngineLink - OBD2 app on my iPhone. After trying several apps and OBD 2 sensors, the EngineLink app provides the trans fluid temp data I was hoping I would be able to obtain for my 2019 Honda Pilot. I give this app a 5-Star rating..Version: 7.3

Excellent App for home useI have diagnosed and repaired several vehicles over the years I have had this application. On my Dodge Charger it even specified which wheel speed sensor was bad, right rear. No guessing just replace the part and roll on..Version: 7.4

Functional but with a kludge-y interfaceThis app was formerly the only BlueTooth OBD app that worked with the LELink reader, which it does. It connects reliably, if slowly, and displays all the usual OBD information, clears trouble codes, etc. If you're savvy, you'll be pleased to know that this app allows you to input your own PIDs; the app provides a few sets of custom PIDs for various makes. The problem is the interface. It's frankly a bit ugly and feels 2/3 complete. You can customize the dashboard layout with various gauges, but the process to do so is slow and underdeveloped; positioning the gauges ought to be a neat, snap-to grid and intuitive experience but instead, it feels like something home coded. Not bad, just rustic, and that's not why we have iPhones. The rest of the UI and resulting UX has a number of weakly executed aspects and the app really suffers as a result. To top it off, the app updates rather slowly, making for noticeable lag in the gauges and low resolution logging. This was all adequate when it was the only conparible app, but with something like OBD Fusion available, this app is pretty rough around the edges..Version: 5.2

Issues connecting to wifi obd2It used to run fine on ios 10 but since I upgraded to ios 11 on my iphone SE it will not connect and communicate. Too bad. I liked using it..Version: 6.5

Awesome product and supportHad over 6 months and works like a champ! Recently had an iPhone configuration issue and tech support got back lighting fast with the solution Great product Great support.Version: 7.2

Works Well - some recommendations...The application works great with the Chevy bolt EV using the recommended Bluetooth connector. Can anyone explain to me how to add a blank page? Also a request to the developers to please add a ‘super small’ digital dial version.Version: 7.2

Clunky but worksNot the snazziest interface, but it’s the only iOS app I’ve found that properly handles custom pid files, a la Torque Pro. Invaluable for pulling diagnostics on my Chevy Bolt..Version: 7.4

Works great.Works great since updating. Could use a few more PID’s. But otherwise works great since updating..Version: 7.3

Almost a decade of useI’ve been using EngineLink since it was first released. I’ve used it on 20+ vehicles... from Lexus, Acura, Toyota, Honda, Pontiac, Ford... etc. And I’ve used it with every iPhone starting with the iPhone 3 and now the 11 Plus Pro. It’s never failed me except for a couple weeks when the iPhone 6 was first released. I use it on vehicles that are generally 5-15 years old with high miles. Will it read everything? No. It didn’t help me with a wheel speed sensor on a 4Runner. And I’m sure there are other sensors it won’t read. *But... what it is great at is building customized dashboards to read and record several sensors at once in order to diagnose and monitor engine performance. I have 4 custom dashboards each with 7-10 dials of instrumentation. I screen record then watch it later to get the info I need. And also to see the difference after I install a new go fast part or just something as simple as a new air filter or even the difference in engine load with a roof mounted bike rack vs. no rack. Want to see the vehicles MAF/MAP/AMF intake volume and pressure, engine RPM, atmosphere Barometric pressure, atmosphere ambient air temperature , 02 sensor voltage, fuel pressure, engine load, and engine torque all at the same time? This app does it... and many many many more combinations of what ever you want to monitor. Want to know if your catalytic converters are clogged or if it’s just a bad O2 sensor? This app will give you the info you need to diagnose and determine the answer. And possibly save you $1000-$2000 on the catalytic converters Mr. Mechanic says you need. Amongst other things ... I’ve personally and easily diagnosed (and saved myself a ton of cash) bad O2 sensors, good (not bad) catalytic converters, fuel pumps, dirty MAP/MAF/AMF, loose intake hoses to a turbo and tightened a bolt instead of buying a new turbo, dirty EGR valves, bad coil packs, bad or loose plug wires, bad plugs, bad evap canisters.... etc etc etc. If it’s connected to your engine this will tell you what you need to know. The best part about this app is the elm Obd2 port WiFi units are cheeeeaaaaap. And this app is cheap. Do not believe the bad reviews about the app not working anymore because it’s simply not true. I bet their Elm WiFi unit was the problem. They probably dumped a soda on it or something else that ruined it. Anyway... I want to give a huge thanks to the creators of this oldie but goodie app. I used it today to monitor everything on my Lexus after a few new goodies were installed this weekend. Worked like a charm !.Version: 7.3

Elm 327The cheap Chinese ELM 327 wifi unit you need to buy is the problem. It takes 10 days to get one that doesn't work and another 10 days to get one that might work. Mine takes 30 minutes to find my iPod. I use an iPod because if I use my iPhone I can't get any data while on the wifi signal so no emails or pandora while you look at your engine info. This really needs to be Bluetooth to be awesome. No mpg info for diesels. No good PIDs for diesels. The display is great..Version: 3.4

Best OBD app available for iOS!Having a few handheld OBD scanners that the mfgs were not supporting custom pids for, I was looking for something that was well supported and worked with a wifi ELM 327. After emailing the developer prior to purchase, my questions about custom pids and other issues were answered quickly, so I bought the app. Setup was simple, and the interface is easy to master. I like the ability to upload custom pid files through iTunes, as it makes the device infinitely configurable. Support has been outstanding, getting GM specific pids sorted out. The software can read from multiple addresses which allows monitoring of info in the PCM and TCM of my vehicle. Support is inviting of suggestions for enhancing the product, and has already started working on a few suggestions. So long as support continues to be this responsive, I foresee this becoming the most popular iOS OBD II app on the market! You simply can't beat it, especially considering the price..Version: 3.5

Works great on Scion XB 2005Product didn't work initially on my iPhone 4s but tech support was amazingly fast at fixing my issue. They sent me a new file which I loaded through itunes and all was good! Update speeds are a little sluggish but I suspect it is either the car or the Elm 327 wifi. But it doesn't bother me too much and the capability for a $6 app is amazing. I've read fault codes, monitored several parameters simultaneously and am on the road to solving a really tricky intermittent problem I am having. I highly recommend buying this app along with an Elm 327 wifi..Version: 2.9

Great app, great support!App works as advertised. Tons of features, fully customizable. I had issues connecting wifi because I had purchased a cheap Chinese adapter. After a couple emails back and forth looking at log files, the support team for this app e-mailed me a file to re-initialize my adapter within a couple hours of my original complaint. What a courtesy considering the adapter had nothing to do with their app!! I am using the ELM327 wifi to connect to the app. Buy this app. Well worth the money..Version: 2.7

Great comboI purchased the LYL® Elm327 WIFI Wireless OBD2 reader and it works great with the app. I love the different options throughout the app, although as I told the support team, I wish there was a way to get a longer description or possible causes on codes rather than turning to google. It took quite awhile looking through readers to find one I liked, but I asked the support team which ones would work and they were extremely quick to reply, I really appreciate their care for their customers..Version: 3.6

Awesome appWas looking at the other obd2 gauge apps, really didn't want to spend $50 on an app.. Decided to get this one, it has every gauge you could ever wish for, with 4 available screens of custom placement, size, and type (Bar, digital, dial) gauges. The new update lets you change the colors of the background of those custom screens. The support for this app is super helpful as well, had a question about getting the IAT gauge, I got a quick response that had exact directions on how I could get it. Love it..Version: 2.6

Great app!First: don't listen to the bad reviews complaining that the app doesn't work with their Bluetooth adapter--it's right in the description that you need a wifi obd2 adapter. The app works great. Easy to customize the gauges. Support is very responsive and helpful. Only complaint I had was that the custom pages were hard to see while driving in sunlight and were too bright for nighttime driving. Both fixed with the custom background color selection..Version: 2.6

You had ONE job! And man, you did it well. This app is a very affordable custom gauge display tool. It has a few nice presets, or you can knock yourself out creating gauges and graphs for custom PIDs. Works well with a Bluetooth OBD-II adapter and roqyBT4. For the price you can't go wrong. If you want to get wild and crazy, try Dash Command, but it costs 10x as much. This is a better choice for casual use, and FAR easier to develop custom gauge screens. (Dash Command requires arcane Windows software to create custom screens.).Version: 3.3

This app works! This app BLOWS AWAY DashCommand. Engine Link supports customizable PIDS, you can actually download a data file to allow for non-standard codes. The author has an example PID file for the Toyota Prius. I think many folks who were unable to get the app to work probably need to try using a router IP under WiFi settings and then hooking the app to that IP. This worked for me with this app as well as other OBD reader apps I have used with the ELM327..Version: 2.7

It just works!I've tried a dozen apps to connect with my CLK Device. I bought the wifi dongle on ebay and wasn't sure which app would work. Most apps don't work at all, and the expensive ones have bad reviews and apparently little support from the developers. This app worked just like it should. It's simple to use, allowing me to read and clear codes. I don't need it for racing, just simple diagnostics. Perfect execution..Version: 1.0

Good appI would like to rate 5 starts if it is fully compatible in the iPad. The app functions well and serves the purpose of what I need. I hope it could work at full screen mode in the iPad. However, it doesn't. Though I aware there is a HD version for iPad, I didn't choose that because it hasn't been updated since last year. Besides, I use it on my iPad2, and thus, the HD is a waste for me. I just hope the app could display in the full screen on iPad devices..Version: 4.6

Perfect App with A-1 rated support!App works perfectly! Support for this app is stellar! Had issues getting my ELM327 to connect to the app. App support team responded within five minutes of initial e-mail contact and had me up and running within an hour. Getting all the real time data that I need. And what a steal at the low price! Buy this app in confidence that you will have the support to get it to run!.Version: 2.7

Top 5 OBD2 AppI like the layout, the information it provides. I like the custom PIDS by Ford, Chevy. I would like information on how to use that function, putting in your own mode 6 codes. This App is reliable and never crashes. Always connects without a problem. I would like an iPad version. And anything else you can cram in there. The more info the better. Repair for codes. Etc great job..Version: 5.2

Elm327 holy grailCan't.belove this is free! Its the best free obd app out there. My only complaint is aesthetics.. Pls make it look clean and simple no cheesy graphics if your going to do graphs make them more stylish. Also would be nice to record and export data, maybe some extra performance info like zero to 60 . 1/4 mile times and the like using GPS adding gps tracking in general would be great for mpg and or track use.Version: 5.2

Cool out standingI just open the package with my Elm 327 from my mail box .Went to my WiFi section in the I phone found the device connected to the elm 327 . Can not wait to play with it more in depth. Works great so far. I had no problems with connections at all. Find you WiFi connection in your settings on the i phone first and connect to the elm . No problamo Love it.Version: 3.5

Great App!This app is extremely easy to use with the ELM327 Wifi dongle. The customer service/support for this app is also very good. Emails are responded to within an hour. The only limiting factor is having a car that does not have the capability to perform the reading of certain functions such as fuel level. On some newer cars, all of the functions work very well..Version: 3.7

Best iPhone app of its kind!!!App does everything it says it does. I love the custom PID screens you can pick from. I purchased a $30 elm27 wifi and it works perfect. I use this for my Prius and Land Rover and it is easy to swap vehicles. Wish list: Can you release this for Google Play??? Pleaseee.... I have a tablet that I would love to run this app on but the only apps on Google Play require the BT Elm 327..Version: 3.9

Great appThis app works perfectly with the iPhone elm327. The customer support is awesome. I would like it if the app had the ability to record info during a trip so you could print and save it. For the price you can't go wrong. Have tried all the features and they work great on many different vehicle types..Version: 3.5

Great supportI had issues initially with the application and my 99 Subaru. It took a while and a number of updates to identify the root cause, but the developer never gave up and in the end we were able to find the issue and modify the app so it would work. Definitely worth the price - a much better deal than Rev or DashCommand..Version: 3.1

Great utility, poor interfaceWhat we can do is really nice! You can see and clear codes, load custom PIDs. But the interface looks like it was made 10 years ago. It looks way too big on iPhone 7 Plus. The dials and bars are too big, it would be nice to be able to add smaller dials..Version: 7.2

Wishing more EV tailored supportWould be nice to be able to swap out displays/meters that are ICE car specific for EV specific.Version: 8.0

Works as Expected, FlexibleI use the app for my Kia Soul EV 2016 with the LE Link adapter. Once I found the PIDs for my car online, it was easy to create a .csv file and load it into the app via iTunes (or the Finder for recent versions of MacOS). There is some basic documentation online for the format of the .csv files but any doubts about the correct format are quickly dispelled by looking at the sample files in the app. Customer support via email is great. Good choice of ways to display the values..Version: 7.4

Good apps.Good apps but need more engine info... Need vertical display pls. Not working now........Version: 4.0

Great appGreat app. The support is tremendous.Version: 5.2

Great SupportI have a Viecar module and did not like the free app that went with it so I bought the Engine Link app which would not connect (the app is made for LELink adapter but I had read that you could adapt it to the Viecar) I contacted the developer and within 30 minutes I got an answer to my questions and within another 15 minutes an email with a patch that permitted me to connect to the Viecar… The service and support themselves are worth the price....Version: 4.6

Correct but that's it!Done the job but no design and no customizing possible....Version: 1.3

Great App!!This app is great! Has emission test gauge that will tell you of your car will pass Etest. Also very easy to view and clear engine codes!.Version: 3.6

Works greatSimple easy to use.Version: 2.7

I love itIt's great for the price.Version: 2.5
