Stupendous AppStone cold brilliant. Been using it to create midi chords for my recordings since '20. The ability to drag and drop a midi file of those chords with proper timing directly into one's DAW is incredible. It's where I begin all recodings. I record a scratch guitar/vocal to a click track, create the Suggester file, drag it into Logic, then create a marker track in Logic identifying verse, chorus, bridge, turnarounds, etc., then duplicate that as an arrangement track, then create a "Drummer" track with Logic's built-in capability. Then I can duplicate and manipulate those midi track to create pads, string parts, etc. I even use the midi tracks to create piano or organ, rhodes, etc., tracks with EZKeys. Suggester's Chord Detector is an invaluable aid for guitarists to figure out the names of chords they play that they do not know names for. Worth every penny..Version: 2.1.1
Very impressedOne of the few theory applications to do it right. I love writing progressions on this. The voicing alteration page for the guitar alone can justify the $20 upgrade price. The chord suggestion feature shows all of the chords that fit within the scale you have selected. It is helpful, but I wish there was an additional feature that gave actual suggestions (similar to what the TONALY app or Scaler 2 VST does). If this app had something like that, it was be the end-all solution for writing chord progressions..Version: 1.0.9
Nice upgrade but confusing price structureI loved Suggester and I can tell V2 offers more. However, I have no idea what I should buy. I have a policy that any subscription based app should include making me coffee in the morning and empty the kitty litter to be worth paying a monthly tax. I don’t have a Mac, just an iPad Pro and an iPhone 15 pro max (or max pro, whatever). What should I buy to get all the features without paying monthly? It looks like that’s an option but I don’t want to buy too much or too little and it’s not clear which is which. That aside, the app is great. I guess I am using the free version? If so, it’s pretty nifty even as it is (for those that can play piano, which I can). The advantage of a chord app like Suggester 2 is mental bandwidth. I can play any progression in any key, yet if I come across something I like, it’s like writing in the sand. The app allows experimentation without fear of losing inspiration. I do t know if S2 allows chord input from an external MIDI keyboard. If it does, then I’ll figure out the pricing and I’ll buy it. But I need to figure out what a “key” is and why each has two prices. Actually, I am thinking of buying a Mac Mini, so maybe I should wait and get the key for both, assuming I got the pricing scheme right..Version: 1.9.1
Custom Chords from KeyboardWhat’s really needed is custom chords enabling the user to define any chord from a keyboard and name it. For example closed and spread open chords. This is essential for jazz or orchestration. A few other apps have this. This is the main reason why I have not paid for v2. Also, it’s too difficult to define alt chords or move chords across the keyboard. I know it’s a lot of work to create and maintain an app, but adding custom is just really needed. Thank you for giving us Suggester. Updates: I can’t test custom chords without paying. Also, the chord detection might be incorrect if substitute notes for chord tones. To me, chordpolypad has made it easy to input a custom chord using a fully visible keyboard..Version: 1.2.4
This has now been fixed - change rating to 5 starsHave had full version (unlocked key) of iOS for a while and thought I would get the Mac OS unlocked key version. However in the Mac version when creating custom guitar chord shapes you only get to choose between frets 1 through 3 while the iOS version you get to choose between frets 1 through 12. Hopefully that will be made consistent. My only complaint about the app and only pertains to the Mac OS verssion.Version: 1.9.1
I Appreciate the one time paymentThis is a great app for writing music on the go. Highly recommend. The best thing about it is you only have to buy it once, and then you have it forever. I’m getting so sick of everything being a subscription service these days, it’s so refreshing and greatly appreciated to have another option. Thank you for that! Seriously.Version: 1.9.1
Nice update but..Very nice little app to play around with when bored, but cost is kind of ridiculous upgrading from the first version for quality of life things that should’ve been upgraded into the first version. Also, find it weird that I had to pay again to use it on ipad and Mac after already buying it.. Mostly just nitpicking on the pricing and cross platform compatability with the packages; I ended up just buying the full version out of boredom, but acknowledge it’s fun to use to get more complicated harmonic structures in your ears. I don’t know who I’d really recommend this app for though.. probably mostly for aspiring musicians/writers who haven’t taken the time to or just don’t want to get into music theory, and want to just plug and play harmonies into their music. I just use it to mess around building harmonic progressions, for ideas to manually add into my music later..Version: 1.3.1
The GOAT v2.0The first version of this app was insanely useful and this version has even more functionality. I especially love the new guitar mode since that's how I usually use the app anyway. Now I don't have to spend time looking up the chords on other sites; I can do it all on one app! Mandolin mode soon? That would be awesome..Version: 1.8.0
In app purchases are goofyApp is great - but upgrades are stupid. Paid for chord suggestions for iOS... now I have to pay an additional 40 dollars for the features on my mac, even though the applications are quite literally identical. No thanks.Version: 1.9.1
Convenient, but costs too much for upgrade from originalCosts way too much, especially considering I already paid for the original Suggester - got it anyway because it's very convenient for messing around with chord progressions. The interface could use more work since it's already version 2, but I enjoy using it on my iPhone to mess around with chord progressions when bored..Version: 1.2.6
Best app! This is the best chord app I’ve ever seen. It has it all. Every scale, mode, inversions, chord editor… you name it. Simply awesome. I would love to have a venezuelan cuatro as an instrument option to use with arpegiator etc. Great job 👏🏻.Version: 2.8.0
Great tool for songwritingIf I want to write a new song, I first need to come up with a good chord progression. So what is an essential tool I reach for? This app..Version: 1.4.0
Great appThis app makes writing chord progressions easy. It’s easy to use. I like the layout of this app..Version: 1.2.4
Pls add option for alternate tunings on guitarAmazing app i just want an option where you can switch tunings on guitar kinda like how you can pick a scale so that you get different chords and stuff that would be super cool otherwise thanks for the cool app!.Version: 2.1.1
Needs time signature changesI will happily upgrade to Suggester 2 as soon as there’s the ability to change time signatures depending on the section.Version: 1.2.4
NicePretty good👍 I like that I can now decide which chords get arpeggiated in a sequence..Version: 1.2.0
Restricted featuresDownloaded this app a few months ago and actually enjoyed it, never feeling the need to buy the add-ons and i come back to half of the features i used for free suddenly requiring a subscription to use. i totally understand the business model, but please don’t take features away from users!.Version: 1.5.0
The app quits unexpectedly and doesn’t save your projectWhen using the app it closes unexpectedly and doesn’t save your project..Version: 1.0.6
Is there less? Where is Ableton Link?Is Ableton Link removed? Are there less features than Suggester 1?.Version: 1.0.9
MidiLike the option to use it as a midi plugin..Version: 2.3.3
Love it!!Can't wait to learn more!!.Version: 2.3.0
Cool appI’m really enjoying this app.Version: 1.2.5
All you need and more! This app has everything you need. It lets you insert chords to your progression that you can easily modify afterwards. You can change the quality (e.g. add a 7th) or the voicing. You can stick to major or minor chords if you want or go crazy with exotic chords like CM7sus2/E. Anywhere in the app, if you see a chord, you can click on it to hear it. As a guitar player, I like to learn the different ways to play a chord. I did not know there were 46 different ways to play a C major chord on a guitar neck or 83 ways to play a C/E. Suggester shows them all with guitar diagrams. Finally, you can drag and drop your chords in Garage Band and easily build a midi track. Give it a try and enjoy!.Version: 1.1.0
Amazing AppSo inspiring to work with this - quickly try out endless chords I've never played before - and great tools for arranging basic song structure. From there I can teach myself the chords on piano or guitar, or even drag the midi directly into my DAW and make tracks from there. Well worth the money..Version: 2.2.2
The Best Music composition AppAs a user of the first version, I must say that version has gone far beyond my expectations. The developer has made the app better in everway. The key feature upgrade for myself is being able to change the arpeggio options for each chord. This is a game changer for myself as I would export a file twice for up or down. I am only using the monthly subscription for now, but honestly. I paid for version 1 on iOS first and than for OSX. I upgraded my OSX just to use this app. I will be purchasing the main ugrade in the future. And to be honest, for myself, I think the app is woth easily $100 Canadian. Even if I am poor lol. Thank you for this high quality app, for the work you have put into this. It is not just a app, software development. This is about taking musical knowledge, software development, midi development, all of this things and putting them into the best music composition app ever. I look forward to seeing what the developer creates. I hope this app gets more traction, combining with other free Apps like garageband, the sky is the limit. Now we even got guitar chords! AMAZING A MUST BUY!!!!!!!!!.Version: 1.9.1
Only some UI improvementsI was really looking forward to this, as I was frequent user of the first edition. To be honest I couldn’t find much difference between the two editions except for some user interface improvements. This kind of a price jump between the two editions elicits some high expectations for improvements from as a user. So far I can’t see anything to justify it. I’ll carry on using my fully upgraded first version until I see some material improvements..Version: 1.0.7
A promising versionAfter using Scaler 2.8 for both iPad and Mac, this app version lacks in facility and direction. I only used the free version but find it works very little to suggest chords. It merely provides the basics to try, by chance to listen to and add your chosen chord. If you are looking for a more dynamic app with so much more, I highly recommend Scaler 2.8 . Scaler 2.8 is approximately $49-59 and requires much more time to learn, but fulfils in so many ways. This app is, like the first version, a great starting point if you are new to this and need a less expensive option - a one off purchase..Version: 1.0.5
