SolidWe just swapped out our home smoke detectors. We had to migrate to First Alert from Nest Protect due to Google ending the product. The App is super simple to follow during device setup process. It’s nearly bulletproof—unless there is an interruption in the setup process (like a network problem or a taking a phone call during the process). If you take too long, the device will register on the company’s database but it will not allow setup in the App. A 25 minute phone call to First Alert, proving ownership and sharing the device’s MAC, solved that setup issue. The App is straightforward to use—all devices appear on the dashboard. We did have a defective unit that decided to sound off in the middle of the night. Because all devices are on interconnect, all the alarms went off. It was VERY difficult to stop the false alarm from the App. We tried to silence the bad unit and finally had to grab the ladder and physically remove the device (and yank out the battery pack). I didn’t remove a star from the rating because I do not know if it was an App problem or a Network problem..Version: 2.24.2

App update doesn’t work properly. You should make it clear that customers must call customer service to delete the units from the old App. Otherwise, you can NOT add the existing units to the new App. Also, the change password function on this new App doesn’t work. I never received a link to change my password. You must test all functionality of new Apps prior to launch. This has NOT been a good UX. I expect better from Honeywell..Version: 2.24.2

Smoke detectorsWiFi is poor on the units when I first the the unit got 2 and try to set up the WiFi on them gave me some trouble and both of the smoke detectors getting to the part of putting my router password on the app would not get connected have to try at least 5 times before it worked on both unit. I have the best router wife that money can buy the unit are not even that far for the router I have ring cameras a lot further and they work great but that’s not the big problem anytime the WiFi goes down because Comcast is working down the street and the internet comes back all my devices come back on line from nest ring hue Alexa lights my old 2 nest smoke detector but the new first alert smoke detector hardwire don’t I have to manually reset the WiFi on the units and go through the process all over to get them back online I think the unit have a poor WiFi signal on them.Version: 2.21.8

Uncoordinated ChangeoverI have used the Resideo app religiously for years and have been thrilled with the ability to control my thermostats with my phone. It’s a very handy feature when I’m not able to physically get up to change the temperature. Yet, this past week I suddenly could not log into the Resideo app anymore. Each time I tried to recover my account the Resideo app indicates the account does not exist. When I tried to create a new account I was forced to Resideo’s new app “First Alert by Resideo”. The problem? I cannot connect my thermostat to the new app because the app indicates the thermostat is already connected to an app (i.e. “Resideo”). If I want to connect to “First Alert by Resideo”, then I first need to disconnect from “Resideo”. How can I do that when I’ve been booted out of the Resideo app? I’ve even gone so far as to factory reset my thermostats, but I still cannot get them to connect to “First Alert by Resideo” because they (somehow) are still connected to the Resideo app even after a factory reset. Now I have to call customer support to try to re-establish the ability to control my thermostats with my app. Seems simple enough, but this is a much larger headache than I would’ve expected for the price I paid for the thermostats..Version: 2.24.2

Face IDWhy does Face ID only work once in a while. I cannot find a way to set it to work every time. Latest update seems to have fixed the Face ID issue. But now it is NOT finding my thermostat. Added once and told me it was already registered. It did finally show up, TWICE. I removed one device and both were gone. Added it again today and it is not there again. Latest update to this very frustrating app. Added the thermostat again. It now shows twice but only if you pull down to update..Version: 2.7.3

Released too earlyEvery other smart home app (google home, alexa, etc.) only is able to work with the Honeywell Home app. There is no option to link with the new First Alert app. For new users this means you are stuck with this app until they decide to integrate it with other apps. Please fix this. Edit: at least the support is good. hopefully this is more straightforward OR better documentation online or in the physical manual per device.Version: 2.24.3

Won’t stay signed in.When it works, it works great. However, it keeps signing me out, and it is a real pain in the rear to sign back in because I have to go through all the resideo advertising. It signs me out at least once a day and the day before yesterday it signed me out three times. I can’t say for sure, but it may be when I leave my home Wi-Fi that it signs me out. this could be very aggravating because what does the cell phone do for you. if you can’t carry it around with you wherever you go.Version: 2.21.8

Used with Honeywell ThermostatThe app installed fine on my iPhone. I was able to connect to my new thermostat and the WiFi router. Seems to work fine. My only issue is that I can’t see the current status of the thermostat on the app. For example, if the device is calling for heat that information is displayed on the thermostat but not the app. Other than that everything seems fine..Version: 2.23.0

Thermostat won’t stop runningHey there, I love my new thermostat, but for some reason when I tell Alexa to turn it off, it tells me it turns it off, but it keeps turning off and on it won’t go to off it just stays in the last mode, even though it says it is off. I’ve tried to check all the settings, but maybe I am missing one, if anybody has had any experience with this, let me know. An example is when it is on heat and I tell my Alexa to turn it off she tells me she sets it off, but then it keeps going turn off and on and off and on..Version: 2.24.2

Pairing & Humidity issuesTried everything with tech support multiple times before determining only one pairing allowed per day. It's a fact. My home has 9 zones, and with the troubleshooting it took 2-weeks to get the app set-up. Also, I have figured out humidity levels don't work. Seemed like a great feature until I realized the remote sensors aren't equipped for this. Would be better if the default display was 0 if no input is detected. Despite these issues I do like the app..Version: 2.24.2

Will not connect to AlexaAlexa goes to you old app and will not let me sign in to link Alexa. UPDATE: I figure out how to get mine to work with Alexa. Menu and scroll down to Integrations. Select Alexa and you will go through the process setting up your Alexa. It works. It would have been nice if they gave you this option when you first try setting up your Alex. Google is also listed here.Version: 2.24.2

GlitchyTwo of my units are listed as "Offline" in the First Alert app. The Google home app shows all of them active and receiving updates frequently. They went offline when AC power was applied during installation. I'm not doing a factory reset and going through the initialization again just so they work in this app. It's probably some strange naming problem related to using the same names for the new devices in this program (carried over from Nest), and then linking them to Google home?.Version: 2.24.2

ChangeAppears to have changed from the Resideo app to this First Alert app…kicked me out of the Resideo app with no notice…my thermostat temps were all over the place. I can’t connect to the First Alert app without being asked stupid questions! Fix the app the way the Resideo app worked!!! Nobody wants to call customer support! We want it to work from the app…what are y’all doing?!.Version: 2.21.8

Graph, battery status worseIn the change to First Alert, two things were made worse: the battery charge is now a couple of extra taps away, and the graphs are from the start of the current week and month so near the beginning just a day or two. They should initially cover one week/month back from today (although I don’t know if week is useful, it could be dropped IMO)..Version: 2.24.3

FIXED: Can’t find a way to change unitsI was finally able to change the units by changing the units in my phone’s settings. Still would have been great if there was a way to change it in the app! I’m giving it 5 stars because of the excellent customer service experience that I had with Mark. He kept me updated on this matter while finally coming up with the solution to update it in my phone’s settings. Original review below: —————————————- I’ve been trying to find a way to change temperature units from C to F, but looks like there is no way to do that. Can’t find that option anywhere in the app..Version: 2.0.15

First Alert Smart Alarm FunctionalityOnly got this app to support my SC5 smoke & CO alarm. It seems to be working great! I have a hardwired smoke detector system with existing SMI100-AC units. Removed one and replaced it with the SC5. Now I receive a mobile notification if any alarm goes off since they are hardwired. Gives me good peace of mind when my dogs are home alone..Version: 2.20.9

Help is not helpfulHelp and Support only has videos- not particularly helpful for deaf people or those who prefer to read information. For additional help, chat is offered and once one enters name, email, phone we are told it's after hours and you can only chat during business hours. Perhaps they should not have the 'chat here' bubble pop up when chat is not really available.Version: 2.24.3

Whoever created this app, thank youThis app has been the most user-friendly, easy to use. I love the fact I can control my thermostat either from sitting in my living room or at work. And it tells me if it’s off-line and it tells me how to get it back online..Version: 2.24.3

Filter change reminders brokenFurnace filter change reminders have never worked for me. I set it every month, but it is always disabled when I go in to check why it didn’t notify me. Overall the app has been getting much better than when I first switched from the old app..Version: 2.24.3

Alexa compatibility?I’m revising my rating from 1 to 5. It turns out that the app is, in fact, compatible with Alexa after all. I appreciate the answer from tech support. It’s a great feature to control the thermostat with Alexa in addition to all the other remote features..Version: 2.24.2

MehThis app is convenient, but it goes down with system-wide issues far too often. I have 2 HVAC systems in my house and wish I could schedule on off and temperature settings, like lighting apps such as tapo and alexa. Instead the app asks confusing questions about what time you get up or go to sleep. I would rather heat my living spaces on one schedule, and bedrooms on another schedule. I don't like this app..Version: 2.24.1

An efficient way to monitor the thermostatAdded the app and downloaded the pink from the thermostat. Self-guided instructions to link the two. It's important to know the kind of thermostat you have. I like it because you can customize it to your specifications..Version: 2.24.3

Equipment StatusApp works fine for seeing and adjusting temperature setting, but why doesn’t it display equipment status? It should show me if the furnace is running, what stage is running, and if humidification or just the fan is running, for instance. I can set a temp but can’t see if the furnace is doing what the thermostat asks. Other brands apps do this..Version: 2.23.2

InconsistentNot sure if the problem with the app, thermostat or the dual system. The thermostat downstairs does not stop as long as the upstairs is running. Until, the problem is resolved, I will give a 3 star rating for now. Hopefully, the HVAC company will solve the issue..Version: 2.24.2

App Stopped WorkingEver since newest update, I can’t access the app. Just sits at the load screen. I’ve deleted and reinstalled the app and also restarted my phone. Any advice?? EDIT - Prior to being contacted my the developer it eventually got fixed. Updating to add an additional star!.Version: 2.23.2

Not as easy as pieMake sure you have the MAC address written down, especially if you have another thermostat of the same kind it may recognize the first one instead of the second. Eventually, I was able to set up the second thermostat it may have just taken a while To recognize the new one..Version: 2.22.100

Terrible for trackingThe app should offer more data for tracking. The app only offers one trend: runtime. For someone who is tracking a remote country home, it would be nice to be able to have trends on set point and actual temperature. The default alerts are also incredibly confusing. The language is so poorly written: « The thermostat is above your specified temperature range of 0 deg »…this implies my high temp alert is set to 0 deg. Or are they implying the delta with my limit is 0 deg?! Who knows.Version: 2.24.2

App only reads in Fahrenheit.I’m not sure why but my app (not the physical thermostat) switched to Fahrenheit for some reason, I assume an update, and I cannot not figure out how to switch it back to Celsius. I can switch between both within the app settings and it changes on my thermostat but not within the app itself. My address in is Canada (metric) so I don’t why it seems to think I want Fahrenheit. It wasn’t like this a few weeks ago when I originally set it up and don’t know when it changed. I cannot figure out within the app how to change it. One would assume that if you’d like your thermostat in Celsius you would also like your app in Celsius. Maybe this is a glitch and something with a recent update is causing the app to not display Celsius even when you have it chosen within the settings? Otherwise I’ve had no other issues with the app and am pretty happy with it, except the name makes no sense…. First Alert for a thermostat? Sounds like a house alarm app..Version: 2.19.5
