This is actually really goodI have to admit I’ve been hesitant on audiokits offerings. I generally make music on a desktop and do a lot of my own sound design. I initially wrote off these plugins as pure romplers with not much to offer compared to some of the other more expensive apps from Moog or other big names. Here’s the part where I eat my words. I tried king of FM the other day since it’s free, and while it doesn’t do FM synthesis on my iPad, the DX style sounds and included effects sound stellar. I was pleasantly surprised to see you have a lot of control over shaping the sound. Each patch is comprised of two sound with independent envelopes, and a cross fade between the two, and then the signal goes through some truely wonderful sounding effects. Here’s the part where I finally talk about Nerd Synth. I was so happy with this free offering I decided to try out a few more. Let me just say that this is easily my personal favorite. Nerd synth isn’t a Rompler as much as it is a proper Virtual Analog subtractive synth with rompler tendancies. Just buy this, as well as their other synths, you won’t regret it. Love The SoundI just got the app so I haven’t really had time to dig into it deep but considering the history of this developer and the other apps they sell, I fully expect this to be as thoroughly usable as those others. I have to say though, that just going through the presets, I’ve already found inspiration for a couple of songs. If the presets do that for you, then you know you have a winning synth on your hands. Love this concept!I’m a long time nord fan and I’m so stoked to see someone bringing that experience to the iPad like this. Most of it is here, and it sounds great. Very easy to use, like a nord. However, there’s one huge thing missing for me: morphs! I was hoping I could use this live like I do a real nord. They’re so fast to program with the morph function and I can make really interactive patches very easily. Honestly that + a 12db filter mode is all this synth needs for me to be “the one”. The best part is the waveforms which function as beautiful foundations for creating sounds and textures and motions and I would invite everyone who loves sound synthesis to embrace this app and see what I mean. My new favorite synthI don’t need more synths, but got this out of curiosity and out of affection for Analog Matthew. I am blown away! I instantly know I’ll be reaching for this one almost every session. It’s one of those synths where you play a preset at random and feel a song coming on from every one. Get it!After insane fun with King Digital (KD), buying this was a real no brainer! And I just discovered the LFO3 page (LOL), w/Flanger & Vibrato in KD. Using the Vibrato as LFO4, ;-). Absolute Joy to use. No-brainer for any musician/producerThis instrument in phenomenal. Well done folks! Having been a Nord Lead owner, this was a no-brainer for me to try out. I have to say, the results are absolutely fantastic. It’s pretty easy and approachable to use for anyone familiar with analogue/subtractive synthesis. For total beginners, the range of included sound presets is great. A few updates have added more preset sounds too. For in-depth editing, there are some times you have to flip between different pages to get access to the full range of parameters. And some parameters (ie: LFO’s) end up getting spread across multiple pages. Some hidden little gems in this synth too, like choosing if the Arpeggiator or pitchbend goes to just 1 oscillator, or both. You can easily create/edit/store/share your preset sounds. First step I recommend: use the “roll the dice” to randomly jump through presets. Lastly: The SOUND! It sounds really really good!.Jsi.MilesVersion: 1.6

Knocked out of park…For the cost of a Latte, AudioKit gives me a synth with sounds and sound design that rival any VST or Desktop AU I own. And I have a lot of them. The sounds are hugely varied, my favourites so far being the lovely and eerie pads with subtle modulation and a good chunk of the brittle jig ends beautifully rolled off. Matthew Fecher is a supremely gifted and generous developer, and for anyone out there who still somehow believes that iOS instruments and FX cannot compete with their “larger” desktop counterparts, start right here.
