Highly Recommend!!I recently stumbled upon the Evidence-Based Supplement Scanner app, and I must say, it has transformed the way I approach my supplement choices! The ability to scan product barcodes and instantly access detailed information about their efficacy and safety is incredibly convenient.
The app’s extensive database is a treasure trove of information, allowing users to make informed decisions backed by scientific research. I appreciate how every review is grounded in credible sources, shedding light on both the benefits and potential drawbacks of various supplements.
The user interface is intuitive, making navigation a breeze, whether you're a seasoned supplement user or just starting out. The medical disclaimer is also a thoughtful touch, ensuring users understand the purpose of the app.

Not worth itThe app provides generic info at best. Half of the supplements I use were not listed. The app got more out of me than I got from it because I had to upload pictures to get any information on those. For that, you might as well use an AI tool instead. Prove It - Supplement Scanner Negative Reviews
No Free trial, lotta questions for a setup to stop you at a paywallTL;DR - Endless questions and setup to get to a paywall without even a single chance to see what the app offers. Just the fact that the paywall is at the end of the long setup shows they don’t respect people’s time
There are a lot of apps that let you see if you like the app or if it is even useful to you before they charge you. I understand it’s their business and the app might even be good but to go through 20 something questions, giving out your information just to be stopped at a paywall is annoying and questionable business tactics. “Oh it’s only $2 per week, no big deal” is probably what they are going for. Would have been completely fine if the paywall is the first thing you see but that would have turned some people away and people might say whattheheck after 5 mins of setup. Very snakeoil-salesman like. 1 free scan would have been enough to see what the app is like or capable of or if it is reliable.OytunMattVersion: 2.16
No option to try it free before purchaseI had heard some good things about this app. However I was disappointed that there was not a free trial period so I could see if it really works well for me. I finally purchased the app but there are several functions that need improvement. The process of scanning a product is tedious. First of all the camera defaults to "take a photo" of the product. You then have to select "barcode" which I prefer. Then, after the scan you get your information but you have to press the back button to get back to the photo option and have to again then select barcode. It's very tedious and when I'm in a store and scanning multiple products is annoying. Many of the supplements I'm trying to scan are not in the database so then I have to take multiple photos of the label and then wait to have it analyzed. Hope they make improvements to the user interface..AKiteFlierVersion: 2.7
Wrong about a lot of thingsI work at a small business supplement store where we carry a lot of high tier supplements. I was excited about this app because I wanted to use it to weed out some bad ones that might have slipped through the cracks. Unfortunately when I started using it the app it was lying about a lot of things. For instance we carry a barely juice powder product that had work stupendously for 20+ years and change a lot of lives. The app ranked it a 50 because it was hard to absorb because it’s a grass and “has gluten that some may be allergic too”. The product is a juice powder is highly adorable and there is no fiber of gluten BECAUSE ITS A JUICE. I tried some Terry Naturally products I know they’re all theirs party tested and it claimed that a lot of them weren’t when the boxes have QR codes to scan to bring you to the third party testing and studies. All in all it’s a bad app that charges you $30 to lie about products. I don’t know where it gets its information from..CPL9943Version: 2.6
Wonky AppGot this app. Seemed like a good app to analyze my supplement stack. But app is dysfunctional in several aspects. Many of my supplements are being reviewed. Not sure they will be found. Something odd is that I have added a number of supplements to the stack and they don’t show up. Funny that you can look up a supplement or food and save it as a favorite, but no options to add it to the stack when viewing your favored products. Seems like one could lookup and review supplements and from there add it to your stack. Sometimes the scan camera just showed a white screen and I had to close it and reopen it several times to actually get the camera. Sometimes when adding a product that is a favorite (yes, you have to search it) but since it is already a favorite, you get an error message. To buggy to even be on the App Store. Sorry I paid for the subscription..KelcomVersion: 3.0
Too broken to recommendCreating an account with Apple failed, app provided a long error message. Created account with email and it appeared to fail. Closed app and reopened and was asked if I wanted to get a subscription (which I did previously), I said yes and it told me I already had a subscription. After that it let me login using email so the previous apparent failure must have actually worked. Scanned my first item, centrum multivitamin gummies, it gave me a message that the information in the database was incomplete (words to that effect) and the rating could be inaccurate. Scanned the next item and it wasn’t in the database and asked me to take pictures to upload to the database. After taking the pictures the upload failed. Scanned a third item, same results as the second item failing on upload. I’ve had enough. I’m done. I will definitely cancel the subscription and intend to seek a refund from the App Store..RidirnVersion: 2.6
Sorry I SubscribedThe app sold itself well and was 100% interested in the concept and excited to use it. However, in practice, it’s terrible. Scanning supplements is super frustrating. It recognizes products but does not let you select them or add them to your stack. Truly baffling how this roadblock occurs. How is it that i take a photo of a supplement and the app recognizes exactly what it is, yet if it’s not already in the database, it can’t be added? It’s 2026, any app worth paying for could solve this problem. If I can’t add half of the supplements I take (all from large/reputable brands), what is the point? On the off chance it does let you add and analyze a supplement, the information is pretty basic and I don’t learn all that much. The app is also glitchy in general functionality. Great concept, but extremely half-baked in practice..No issues at allVersion: 3.1
ScamThis app is a scam, do not be fooled into signing up for it.
I saw an ad for this on social media and thought I’d give it a try. When you’re signing up they give you the option to choose from different subscription plans. The plan I selected states “$1.99 trial”. I get on later that day to cancel the plan because I’m not more than $1.99 impressed with it, and lo-and-behold, my subscription says “$99 yearly”, and it’s already been processed. Don’t know what happened to that 1.99 trial! In the settings in Apps, it gives you the option to choose a different membership and they’ll refund you the difference if you choose a cheaper membership, but you’ll be hard pressed to find the previously advertised “$1.99 trial”. The cheapest option you can select is “$4.99 weekly”. Now that’s worlds better than $99, but it’s still $3 more than I agreed to and therefore stealing..RawrrieVersion: 2.15
Works 2 times out of 10The product rarely recognizes supplements via its scan process and the process is kind of confusing and even seems a bit deceptive. After scanning, it will show the supplement name and a high match rating as if it’s actually identified the product. Below it offers up several options and I guess you’re supposed to select the one that matches the product you scanned, but that is unclear at first. Most of the time, the products that it offers up are completely wrong and not even remotely related to the product you are scanning. There is an option to have it analyze your product by taking pictures of the label and nutrition facts, but that rarely does anything. Ironically, you can do the same thing with a decent ai app and get tons of results. I do not recommend this app at all..Heavy PlasticVersion: 3.1
I got over chargedI thought I was paying for a weekly subscription. I have severe health anxiety and wanted to make sure what I was taking for my MCAS (Mast cell activation syndrome) was safe. I figured paying a few dollars was worth checking it out. Next thing I know I am getting charged $99 for a year and I ordered the weekly charge. Yes I planned on canceling it after I checked the handful of supplements I take. This was not what I agreed to pay! When you go look at their options for subscription prices there is a weekly option yet somehow I got charged for a year! That's not right. I only gave it two stars as I did check the supplements before I got the notification from Apple I had been charged for a year.IvyhouseVersion: 2.13
Dont waist your timeHuge pay wall , the make you answer all this questions to then give you some random data and t then ask you for money before being able to do anything, huge disappointment and crazy prices for some data that you can probably just google and research on your own. They also make you sign wish I found super weird like what am I committing with that , that was definitely very odd and didn’t like that . Over all maybe the app does what it says but I was not able to confirm also the plans are wild , who are you expecting to pay $40 for 3 month 100 for a year or 400 for life . Not me at least for something that I’m going to use only the first time to scan my things and just call it a day , lol.Import-GamerVersion: 2.13
Required Paid SubscriptionI downloaded this app to see if the new diet supplements that I have been taking are clean. Unfortunately after a multi-question survey, find out that the only way to access the app is true a required paid subscription. Cheapest of $1.99/week and the highest of $3.99/week, on top of that, they bill monthly, quarterly, and annually for the best prices. They don’t offer a trial, subscription cancellation are always more complicated than they should be. If you are going to make people subscribe to a service, let them sample it first to with maybe a couple scans to see how they even like the “Research and Results” that you provide. Disappointed, to say the least..SlayingDeath408Version: 2.7
Not as advertisedBeware… False advertising!!! The ad I saw for this app said the app tells you if a supplement, its ingredients etc, are as the brand advertises. That’s not at all what this app does. You scan the supplement and it literally just gives you a description of the supplement and the ingredients that are already on the label. There’s no additional information about the supplement. They gave they impression that this would give you consumer reports insights as to whether or not you could trust the ingredients… that’s not what you’re getting. I spent $29 for the exact same thing I can do with ChatGPT. Completely useless. They make you pay before trying it… I’ll never make that mistake again..=Griff=Version: 3.1
Good in Theory OnlyThis app has all of the potential to be great, but you can’t enter needed data and the interface is not easy. For example, I can scan a supplement, but I can’t modify dosage, servings, or specify that I take the supplement in the am and pm. It assumes 1 serving and that you take the supplement once a day. Another example is that you can favorite a supplement, but there is no way to get the supplement to your stack from there. You essentially have to rescan to get the supplement in your stack. I wish I had not paid the annual subscription fee as this app is not useful for people who take supplements with split doses or don’t have the time to scan the same supplement multiple times to get it in a stack..Health_ForwardVersion: 3.1
Picture Function Doesn’t Work!?I just paid over $100 for an annual subscription for this app and the main function to allow you to use the app effectively doesn’t work. I can’t take a picture or scan barcodes. If you try to enter a barcode manually, the keyboard only stays up to enter one number at a time, meaning you have to pull up the number keyboard over and over to actually enter the full barcode. After completing that tedious task just for one barcode, the app pulled up the wrong product. This app is proving to be more useless than the supplements that it promises to keep you from buying. I’d like my money back - buyer beware!.K.Nelson68Version: 2.14
Not worth $70/yearI’ve scanned pictures or barcode of a few different supplements looking to see if they were the quality I was looking for and:
1- 3/5 of my scans didn’t show the correct product (example: I scanned a magnesium supplement, the list of options populated, I clicked on the brand & details on “white kidney beans” showed up.).
2- every single one of the “cons” reads like my blanket statement when learning the side effects of medications in nursing school: every single one “may cause GI upset.”
Tell me what’s really bad (lack of 3rd party testing, results of testing, fillers, etc.). Tell me what’s good (3rd party test results, etc). And actually offer “better options.” Not a single one has.
This is NOT worth the $70/ year & I wish I could have had a week trial before having to commit to subscription. But I guess that’s how they make money. It’s fishier than the Fish Oil supplement I just scanned if you ask me..NurseStksVersion: 3.1
9 Of 10 failed to recognize.Prove it doesn’t. I just purchased and uploaded this application and nine of the 10 supplements I checked it had no idea what it was. I was scanning the barcode and then the application would close and I’d have to reopen it and then after scanning barcode again, then it asked me take a picture of the front. Take a picture of the ingredients list. take a picture of the nutrition chart. I feel like I work for them because they’re asking me for everything that they should already know. I am going to try to cancel this subscription and get my money back..Dumb old manVersion: 2.4
Not worth the the moneyI am very disappointed after paying for a subscription to find out over half of my supplements weren’t even found. I also frequently found that the exact same supplement came with multiple ratings so based on whichever one you chose it could give you differing results for the same product. I looked at their resources and would have been better off going to the source for my research. The app is also not user friendly in regards to offering very basic info. There’s no help , FAQ etc..Hrw1080Version: 2.6
Horrible functionalityI rarely give reviews but I cannot believe they’re even charging for this app. As someone who takes a lot of supplements, I had high hopes for this app. The barcode scanner doesn’t work well, the camera can ever get any images in focus, and the search functionality never returns any results. Kinda appealing they’re charging so much for this. I’ve requested a refund. You can just looked up more information than they can seem to generate by using Google. You guys need to get the bugs worked out of this because idk how you’ll stay in business..JDanielle82Version: 2.15
Shady10 minutes of questions about how i found the app, and how many supplements i take and why etc. pop up screen asking me for a rating already followed by 5-6 screens of supplements are bad and then the only option to “start scanning” is to buy a YEAR membership, no trial of any kind. Sure here is 50 bucks before a single barcode scan. App store says other sub options but the only option it gives you is 50% off a year which again is still $50. Shady. Hilarious that they named the app prove it but give no opportunity to prove the app is useful before you buy..Bobbyv13Version: 2.7
SCAM!! Charged $100A few things raised MAJOR red flags.
First, it says that it charges you $1.99/week, and that you can cancel anytime. They charge a total of $109 immediately for a full year. I’d be willing to check it out for a week, as the presented it, but I’m not going to pay $109 for an app I haven’t even tried.
They need to be more clear about their business practices, and really should include a trial period.
Second, there were at least two supplements that weren’t in their database that they were somehow able to evaluate. The evaluation seems to be based only on the information on the label. The whole REASON for this app is because so many labels are unreliable. How can they give an efficacy rating on a supplement that hasn’t been tested. Are ANY of the products/supplements evaluated on an individual level, or are they just saying whether or not the ingredients would work IF the label is correct?.ChiguynextdoorVersion: 2.7
App support not workingInitially I was happy with the app but noticed there was a few duplicates with vastly different scores. I tried to reach out through the app to report an issue but got an error. I then came to the App Store to contact the developer directly and the email bounced back. Happy to change my review if I could have someone respond but unfortunately with no way to get hold of anyone and there being duplicate entries for the same supplement with differing scores it makes it hard to trust the app..P3tersVersion: 2.7
Doesn’t work - misleading subscriptionTricked into subscription with deceptive wording ended up being charged for a years plan when I thought I was buying a weeks worth to try it out. Wouldn’t have mattered if the information was accurate and the app useful. Discover most information presented multiple versions of the same item with different ratings and information for each item. On top of all that the app now won’t load. Waste of money..FreeflyfranzVersion: 2.16
Could be great but they gatekeep with expensive subscription prices. It’s a good idea but very inaccessible unaffordable. The way they word the subscriptions will make you think you’re paying weekly or quarterly but will charge the full $100+. They offer no trial subscription. This would be great info if it was truly accessible like offering a trial period or actually charging by the week and not just for people who can dump $100+ to scan a few labels..SuperShopper9273Version: 2.10
Immediate paywall, no transparency. No thanksI downloaded this after having a great experience with Porter apps for food products, hoping for reliable information on supplements. I’m willing to pay for a good app, but I need a free trial to find out if it’s worth the hype and marketing. I never trust companies that paywall up front with high pressure scammy “offers” and pop ups, especially when the decline option is “deactivate account.” Red flags. I deactivated and deleted immediately. Finding a more trustworthy and transparent alternative..FaeolynVersion: 2.16
Waste of moneyI downloaded and got a yearly subscription because I was very excited about this app. I take a lot of supplements on a daily basis and was excited to learn what they achieve.
This app should give me a comprehensive overview of how my supplements interact with each other. I should be able to input what I'm looking to achieve and give input on how well the supplements I'm having work towards this goal.
I could have plugged this info into ChatGPT for free and received the same feedback.... and saved $100..NikThadaniVersion: 2.13
Awful!!! ZERO STARSI tried for an hour w several different supplements to get it to work right and it’s just useless. They’re either not in the system, give wrong result w no way to say, “hey, that’s not correct”, will give you the right one with wrong item for alternative options, OR give a high score to something everyone is saying has issues in reviews, or I know thru my own research is a bad company using ingredients from China and won’t show you third party tests. Terrible. I want a refund!.Daisy SierraVersion: 2.16
AnnoyingThis is one of the most annoying apps I’ve ever used. when you go to add supplements to your stack, the camera only works 10% of the time. otherwise, you have to keep going in and out of the scan mode just for the camera to work. I haven’t been able to get the barcode scan to work lastly, just whoever makes this app should probably go in and try using it themselves because it doesn’t work 90% of the time.OdinBloodaxeVersion: 3.1

I emailed the company and nothing, so I went through the App Store and there are saying it not available for refund. You have to pay AT LEAST $40 upfrontI was really excited to try this to see if my supplements actually worked but I am not going to pay $40 OR MORE just for that. I definitely do not think this app is worth $40, let alone the $100 and $400 options, HELLO???.AdrianTLMVersion: 2.14

Do not buy - complete ripoff!I purchased this app based on its claim that users can review their supplements. After testing three products, I found the review results to be inaccurate and inconsistent — multiple conflicting ratings and generic feedback unrelated to the items tested. Complete rip-off..JDF0812Version: 2.16
