A beautiful, intuitive, and inclusive new experienceI work in the digital product design and development space. I am a harsh critic on user experiences in my day-to-day apps. Never have I opened an app that recently had a new version released and been as pleasantly surprised as I was today when I went to order my lunch. (I was actually so happy with my experience that I tweeted about this as well.) The experience really speaks for itself — intuitive it is and it’s beautiful design and innovation for a mobile ordering app. I would like to call out how refreshing it is to see the inclusivity and integrity of a company shown through their user experience. The simple (and not hidden!) pop up to offer the user the option to either SHOW or HIDE calorie information is so inclusive of and sensitive to those with sensitivities around calorie counting. I know this is a simple feature in comparison to the rest of this unbelievable redesign, but I wanted to call that out as it does not go unnoticed! LOVE this update — congrats to the product team and all designers, developers, etc involved!.Version: 3.0.1

Finally an ordering app easy to useI was pleasantly surprised when I placed my order today using this app. Usually, customizations are a hassle to communicate when placing food orders, but not here. I quickly learned that each of the selection buttons will toggle between options for that specific item. I.e. I initially chose the spicy chicken protein for my pita wrap. After reconsideration, I wanted to switch to the the grilled chicken with less bite to it. I pressed the grilled chicken button and instead of completely removing the spicy chicken, it read “1/2” over the grilled and “1/2” over the spicy. Perfect! Press the button again and it toggled to choose just the grilled chicken. It was the same with the sauces. Press it one time to get a single amount and twice to get extra. Very simple to use - a lot simpler than trying to understanding what I just attempted to describe. Enjoy!.Version: 2.13.9

Basic and needs improvementThe apps layout is easy to understand and simple to use if your just looking to preorder your food. If your trying to manage your calorie intake and track the nutrition information then the app is basically useless for these two purposes. For starters the calorie estimates are off by a few hundred calories at the least. One of their standard meals (without ANY edits) comes out significantly higher in calories when the individual ingredients calories are added up separately. Also there is no sign of a meals nutrition information whats so ever. It would be nice to have a overview like the chick-fil-a app gives you of the calories, adjustments and overall information. This is either a relatively new app, this a work in progress, or cava is not putting in half the effort other companies are with the food ordering apps. Love the food and would love to eat it more but I’d need a reliable platform to change me from an occasional user to using it 3 to 4 times a week because accounting for their mistakes takes too much time..Version: 3.0.8

WOW — Amazing UX from a UX EngineerAs a fellow user experience iOS engineer/designer this app blew me away. The app is very intuitive and easy to use. This is exactly what you want when you’re trying to order food. The animations really tie in with the flow of the app and serve the purpose of communicating the feedback back to the user as any great app should. Aside from all the great animations and transitions, the app does exactly what it should. It serves its purpose well—that is to make it as easy as possible for the user to order food and to get out of their way. Keep up this excellent work. It doesn’t go unnoticed. Suspiciously too quickMade an order two minutes later I’m getting a text. It is ready. I thought it was kind of suspicious that it was done that quick. I tried thinking positively and maybe they have no customers at the time which is still possible, but when I went to pick up my order, I checked, and my food was cold and my pita. I went home since it is a bit hard to just look on top to see if everything‘s in there I barely had any chicken and I ordered double the chicken. seems like I got someone else’s order and they just put my label on the bowl. last thing every single time I order to pick up I’m either missing the pita or my utensils even if I could get my own utensils it is something I asked for in my order so I’m able to quickly pick up and go..Version: 3.9.4

Good but could use improvementI love CAVA and the app is super convenient and useful. I would like to be able to do grains AND salad as well as add more dressings and can’t do that. I also wish I could change my pick up time after I submit it. I accidentally put in a time I couldn’t make and I couldn’t change the time or the order from pick up to delivery. Also their phones were down so if there was a way to add commentary to my order after I submit it and it can be flagged on some screen for them to see that would be really great. Other than these I can’t think of any fixes. Overall I’m pretty much almost completely satisfied with the app and I am completely satisfied with the restaurants I’ve been to!!.Version: 3.7.1

Good but not there yetThere’s lots of things that could be fixed. Number one : why is the layout formatted so I can only see items at the bottom? It’s annoying to “side scroll” when all you had to do was list all the items on one page , ya know like a book? Or a website ? Then we could scroll down and select accordingly. Also there’s many options missing like the option for no ice in your drinks. I have dental work done and sensitive teeth , I don’t need or want ice. Now I have to call the store and make sure there’s no ice In my drink being delivered. Honestly McDonald’s app is soooo much easier and user friendly. It’s quick streamlined and makes sense. Take a page from their book on the app. Oh and you get rewards much much faster though them..Version: 3.7.17

Want to love it but...When it works, then great. But lately I can’t enter a pickup time. I have to keep exiting and reopening and reordering then deleting the previous order...what a mess. At this moment I have tried several times and can’t get my order in. Also, this app cost me 13 bucks of wasted money, which has never happened to me before. I’m used to apps that let you reorder. They always ask you where to pick up. This one didn’t. I placed a reorder and it never asked where to pick up from. Once I placed it I saw that it was a different city not nearby. Knowing I just lost 13 bucks I tried again planning to change the city. It turns out you can’t. I had to make a new order and try to remember everything all over again. What a pain..Version: 2.13.9

AmazingThe staff, the food! I don’t know which is more amazing! My order was ready when I got there, but my pita was missing so I waited patiently to the side until the man running the register had a free moment. I waited a little bit, but it was busy so no worries. He warmed my pita and gave me a free drink for my wait. I told him that was not necessary, but he insisted. I got the blueberry lavender lemonade. Delicious! Thank you sir! My bowl was beautiful! All the ingredients that I ordered were there and arranged perfectly. Definitely worth the wait. I struggle through because I like the foodThe app is soooo slow to respond. It’s unintuitive in starting a new order and accessing favorites. Choosing ingredients is painful—sometimes you want extra of something. Adding rewards is also unintuitive. Makes you add the item to your cart first, and then apply the coupon. How about when I try to use the coupon, you add it to the cart? There are solutions here that a little user testing would reveal. Also, would like to see the feature Chipotle uses like “light/regular/extra” for an ingredient. I struggle through the app experience because I like the food. But sometimes it makes me want to just go order in person and wait longer..Version: 3.9.1

Finally clean food goodCava food like my wife cooks which is fantastic, she used to make food like this all the time but now that she’s back in the office at least I have cava lol. As a restaurant, the food is fantastic. It is good for you. Everyone loves cava, doctors, lawyers, police, people who are into Fitness, but also stoners literally everyone likes Cava that I work with, and the place is always packed, it’s also an amazing stock to get into, also the app is slam dunk. They are delivering what the market has been requesting for the past five years, and I wish them all the success of chipotle and beyond..Version: 3.7.11

One of the best food apps!One of the best and easiest food apps on the market today! So easy to read thru and navigate, and pay! Also very cool that you can just walk in and they have a shelf ready with your order with your name on it so you can literally walk up, grab your bag, say thank you and go! The only thing I would like to app to have is to be able to save your favorite order so I don’t have to go thru the choices each time. I ordered them at the other location and but the manager or whoever was here her name was I’ll mobina and was the order and Julian was in the kitchen. They help me to correct the order they gave me the three bowls and they rock. They’re the awesome people, I wanna congratulate Mobina oh that’s gr what shou. She’s the best and I see she has She’s very computerized but . She help me with my computer order and got me what I needed. Yum Yum said no food for you. I’m serious. Unable to Remove ItemsIn using the current version today, I was unable to remove items from my order. I would tap remove, the three dots would oscillate and then go away with the order unchanged. After logging out, deleting the app, and logging in again, I was finally able to remove the items but it still took multiple attempts. I should note that the reason why I had items in my order to remove was because I could not figure out how to “back out” of building an item without losing my entire order and starting over from scratch other than to add the erroneous item to my order..Version: 3.7.8

There’s no way to reorderThere is a function to reorder, and you’ll see the items in your cart, but there’s no way to modify them or even to check out. I had to go to the website to place my order. Also, the history of orders when I login via the website is different from the history in the app. They mentioned that in the description in the App Store, but that’s still pretty sloppy. I like their food but this ordering experience is awful. They should fire their software development team!.Version: 3.1.2

Great food, clunky appThe food is fresh and tasty, but most of my gripes and star rating is about the app. Ordering food is very clunky with horizontal scrolling through options vs vertical scroll. Customizing bowls is limited to the specific bowl you select and requires restarting. Example - pre saved greens and grains bowl, I wanted no rice and greens only, It required a rice/lentil option and I could not submit. Cancelled and selected salad bowl, filled it out and it said salad bowl not available at this location. Okay…then selected steak power bowl, removed everything and was able to add greens without grains. While some of this is localized to me, the app overall has a sub par user experience..Version: 3.9.2

Remarkable Interface!After using apps like Five Guys, Chilis, and Chipotle, my bar for ordering food on apps was quite low. However, this app blew me away!! It's so intuitive, has a great workflow, and I love that it mentions sections you've skipped when looking at the bag. Also, having the sliding buttons for extra items like utensils was a great idea. If anything, changing the pickup time by tapping at the top can feel a bit un-intuitive after the rest of the app was so detailed and hand-holding..Version: 3.9.1

A few tweeks and it would be perfect!I am very picky about how I like my CAVA and the app doesn’t let me customize my order fully like I can do in person. I would love the ability to add more than 3 dip scoops and more than 2 scoops of toppings!! I can do this in person and yes pay more but I’m not able to do it on the app, so ordering ahead won’t give me exactly what I want, I have to choose wether I want taste or convenience. This is one of the few places I can eat and this functionality would mean a lot to someone like me. PLEASE DEV TEAM: consider making this update asap!!!! Thanks!.Version: 3.7.25

Ya’ll Messed UpThe app was a little janky to begin with but at least I was able to get an order in. Since the newest update, I do not know what ya’ll did to this app but you messed up. As soon as I click on an entree, none of the customization options pop up until I get to drinks and a pita side. Fix it please, I really used to like using this app for no contact pick up. I was able to place an order on Uber eats for delivery yesterday with no problems. For the past couple weeks I’ve tried to place pick up orders through this app, I’ve been disappointed. I never even write reviews for apps, that’s how disappointed I am in this update..Version: 3.0.0
