Vivint Positive Reviews
Equipment ages out, upgrade requires 5 year contract + double monthly rateWe’ve had Vivint for over a decade at 2 separate houses. We have recommended Vivint to countless family members, friends & acquaintances. We sold one house and recommended Vivint to the buyer. He asked if we would leave the equipment behind because he was interested. We did. Within the last 3 years our equipment in our home as well as the panel have failed and been swapped out numerous times. I looked at upgrading. Mind you, we only have 4 indoor cameras and an intermittent doorbell. Upgrade was over a grand…. But I had to sign a 5 year contract AND my monthly rate would double. A tech came out on a trouble call, swapped a camera we were having problems with and added a doorbell, at no charge, because we’ve been with them so long. Our tech Cole Tucker is AMAZING. At least there’s that. Thank you, Cole. If not for you and your outstanding repairs, I don’t think I’d be writing this review. I love Vivint, but there are so many home security systems out there now. If I could maintain my current monthly rate and get a reliable panel & equipment, they’d easily have our commitment for another decade. So long as our equipment keeps doing what it’s supposed to do, we will continue our business with Vivint. If something gets phased out, like the panel, and I’m forced to replace it, then I’ll start shipping around. If you’re on the fence with a security company, Vivint is top notch and responds immediately to alarms and alerts Law Enforcement. I know we, as well as our home and belongings, are protected with Vivint..HarleyBatgirlVersion: 23.10.500
Amazing AppGreat App! It’s hard to talk about the app without talking about the security system itself since the app is only useful if you own the security system. It’s all amazing. My wife and I swapped over from ADT and Vivint is 1,000,000X better in every way! The biggest thing being the system doesn’t rely on wifi like ADT does but rather two separate cell phone towers so both companies (Verizon and AT&T) need to go down before the system finally relies on your wifi so that’s a huge relief considering ADT only relies on WiFi so if someone cuts your cable outside your house, you’re screwed.
The app itself is amazing with the system. Everything is so easy to control and navigate. The ONLY thing I have a bit of trouble with is the shortcuts. Basically you can program shortcuts within the app that, when you activate the shortcut, it can cause your system to do multiple things at once. For example I programmed one that, when activated, will disarm my system, unlock my garage door deadbolt, and open my main garage door where I park my car. I programmed a few more too, but I have yet to see any of them effectively work. They don’t always work the best, but honestly it’s such a small thing that it doesn’t bother me at all.
Honestly, that being the only issue, I give it an 11/10. Would highly recommend!.The Real OzymandiasVersion: 25.10.200
The dashboard could be more useful.I have been using the app now for a week and found some annoyances. Mainly in the dashboard. I feel like it could be more customizable. I would like to have the option of the dashboard returning back to the security screen when I open the app every time, or any specific screen the customer would want to see when they open the app. Secondly, the security screen should have the option to add light/ room switches to the security screen for ease of use. I have ten Phillips bulbs in six rooms and this app does not make me want to go to it to operate those switches. Which doesn’t really make this the smart home controller that I was sold on. Third, I believe camera notifications for people detection should have a link to the video recording. Makes no sense to read the notification and then have to go somewhere else in the app to see the video. Lastly, the administration portion of the app does not work well. Initially when setting up the camera to my specifications, the app would pop up errors of configuration failed, but when setting it up on the panel, there was no issues. Fortunately, I now have it setup to my liking. For a lesser tech savvy person, I could see this as ver frustrating. I understand the connections between admin trough the internet and admin through Zwave, but not all users are tech savvy. And I also understand that there is tech support that can be called, but why should I need them if the product was simpler to use?.Iveyscott1Version: 20.7.401
Works ehThe app is eh, I’m giving it a 3/5 stars, but a 5 star because I know this review will go up for people to actually see this. it works decently but for the price we are paying for all of our equipment you’d expect a pretty well/ finished app. The cameras take a long time to load, at first I thought it was my WiFi but it’s not since I have 2 gigabit WiFi. And the smart hub is right next to it as-well. When you rewind the footage and pause it and try to zoom in, it automatically resumes footage. The hold to talk button 5 times out of ten doesn’t work and is unavailable. Lastly probably one of my biggest concerns is you can take a photo ONLY on live view and it ONLY 4K upscales when you zoom in on live, you cannot do either when you rewind footage. This is concerning to the fact that if something happens and someone vandalize something, we won’t be able to pick up plates from how bad the footage on these cameras are. This review I know is just for the app but for someone out there is considering Vivent, do not talk to a door to door guy, talk to an installer because they are the ones who actually know how these systems work, we got fed a bunch of lies saying that these cameras are 4K in resolution, that they have a ai chip (installer said they are new and don’t really work well until updates go by), that the install would be tied to the outlet hardwired (they are just outlets being used), there are many issues I am dealing with including install charges when we were told that it was for free. But I will leave it here and hopefully this will help someone’s decision considering I spend over 5k on equipment and I am not happy.G20m340Version: 25.3.300
My front door hasn’t worked since it was installed!!I have called about the problem with my front door and been on the phone for over an hour and they even said they were doing an update that would fix the problem! It does not work!! I used to have to set the alarm leaving at panel and bypass front door? I think was what it said!! Eventually it quit saying that!! The alarm would go off at 4 or 5 Am while I was asleep and scare me to death!! It was just the door ajar it was saying!! It never worked when it was first installed! The nice man that installed it called up someone while he was installing it!, and they just decided to have me bypass it! Well, I can now come in my front door and no alarm goes off!! So, I’m assuming anyone can just come in my home and I wouldn’t know it!! This has been reported by me more than 10 times! Usually when a false alarm was going off! They don’t even happen anymore!! I hate the support or lack of support I am receiving from Vivint! I do not feel any safer at all! I feel like I was ripped off! The equipment prices are outrageous!! I’m very disappointed with this system! I’ve had others! Also the batteries don’t last long at all’ I bought the rechargeable ones only to learn they don’t even work on this system!! Also I lost power during the ice storm and was without any security to my home!!! Other systems have backup power packs! That was another poor feature I found out about!! I just wish I could get my front door to work!! Is that too much to ask?? Obviously so!! I’ve asked for a person to come out to my home, but just get told to speak to the tech people!! They are no help!! Very disappointed, Liz Tilley.Trendy on a budgetVersion: 21.5.500
Great design, great concept, great execution!!!The app itself is very useful and comes in handy all the time. I have the smart lock, the smart doorbell, and 2 cameras and they work perfectly. The cameras give me good quality pictures and video plus there is less than a 1 second delay with the live video when monitoring from my phone. The motion-activated sensor on the doorbell works very well during the day, evening, or night even when the front porch light is off. The microphone and speaker on the doorbell makes it easy and safe to communicate with people I don’t know who approach my door. If I see someone trying to break in from the camera, it gives me the option to take a live picture from my phone and it automatically records movement picked up by the cameras. The app gives me notifications without delay for everything that happens inside and around my home whether it’s the doorbell being rung, the door being opened, motion from the cameras, my alarm system being armed and disarmed, or even my door being locked and unlocked. They really thought of everything to give you the maximum protection against threats or otherwise. I highly recommend Vivint for your home security and the Vivint app for easy access and extra insurance for the security of your home and the people you live with. (P.S. the alarm noise is REALLY, REALLY LOUD!!).Marty mcfly1Version: 18.6.100
HorribleI regret choosing Vivint over my previous Brinks system. From the start, this has been an incredibly disappointing and expensive experience. I purchased two thermostats, a doorbell camera, two exterior cameras, an additional keypad for the upstairs, to replace my Brinks panel and a front door keypad lock to replace my - unfortunately, this has proven to be a poor decision.
The keypad battery in my master bedroom constantly dies; I’ve had to replace the batteries twice in the last 12 months. One of the thermostats frequently falls off the wall. My doorbell no longer rings or sends notifications through the app when pressed, and my front door keypad lock has had recurring issues. The door never unlocks or locks via the app, and the batteries have needed replacement twice in a year. I purchased the keypad lock specifically for its app functionality, yet the app has never worked properly, making this purchase completely pointless.
Throughout the installation process, I repeatedly raised these issues, and Vivint continued sending technicians who seemed unable to resolve them effectively. Despite multiple service calls, these problems persist. As a single mother and widow, I feel misled and taken advantage of in purchasing this system, which has never worked as promised..Mylz1213Version: 24.10.400
Old houseI don’t usually write reviews on things. But I wanted to put it out there.
Sales guy came to my door and we said we had to think so he came back the next day and decided to make the switch to them. They were here until 2 am installing everything but then had to come back 3 different times to figure out wiring. I was not that impressed. They state there price only goes down however what they don’t tell you is your taking out a line of credit in your name for the equipment . it is not part of the bill at all so you get “charged” twice a month. They state you do not have to pay for the equipment however that’s what the line of credit is for.
Also I told the sales guy I did not want a thermostat he insisted that I have it .. we got it installed and my ac/furnace is only a year old and came with its own thermostat. When they installed Vivint thermostat they messed up the wires and my ac is now messed up and there is nothing any company can do. I had my ac company put on the original thermostat that came with it and now I’m paying for a piece of equipment I no longer use.
In all I’m happy with the security system. However lately my cameras have been glitching and when I go back to rewatch what happened over the night I can not and it just looks like a picture.
Not saying all this will happen to you however it happened to me so I would just like people aware.Sweetcat1993Version: 23.9.100
Recording delays and 30 seconds videos and merchandise trouble onlyVivint has recording delays, when I try to respond to the doorbell it takes a long time to activate so I can speak to the person waiting at the door. Many times they are gone by the time it allows my to respond. I am disabled customer and it was supposed to be a tool to make it easy. I have repeatedly asked Vivint to correct the problem for the last two and a half year and they keep saying it’s an Internet issue. So we corrected that problem by upgrading our service with the Internet provider to the best on the market and still have the same problem. We also have a similar problem with the recording outside we’ve had issues that has incidents that have happened outside and it has never recorded the urgent matters due to it only recorded 30 seconds each film. And barely get proper content. The door lock has been replaced twice and it was extremely difficult to make the Vivint provider(s)understand the importance of the service. At times I was over one hour trying to follow instructions to fix the issues my self and then they changed the representative and I had to begin all over again. This happened a lot. We are almost done paying for all the equipment that also has giving us troubles. We unfortunately are not too happy. We have given Vivint enough money and years to correct the issues. With no avail. Customer service is only a chat service and it’s never clear with instructions. It would be nice if they upgrade their service to make a almost 3 years paying customer happy. My family and friends changed their service to other providers and I have seen a big difference in service. We have never received any update or follow ups. We are considering canceling very soon..LuzbenzVersion: 22.5.500
Expensive service with poor qualityVivint is an expensive monthly service that sells itself as a home security system. However, in my experience the security aspect is lacking as I frequently have issues with the app being able to remotely connect to my security system and address issues or inspect potentially suspicious behavior in my home’s vicinity. As an example I am currently unable, despite numerous attempts, to disarm my system. Not long ago I had the opposite where I couldn’t arm the system. Anything that requires a connection with their servers often has failures. Which brings me to complaint two: the app is unable to function without server connection despite being on my home WiFi network. I cannot control my local devices on an operational WAN if their services are down. Absolutely inexcusable for a security system. This is the exact opposite approach they should be taking and I’ve spoken to them about this numerous times over the last half decade.
Lastly the app: users have been requesting dark mode support since Apple introduced the feature, well they finally did in early 2026, 5 years after Apple introduced the feature. But don’t worry, Vivint is happy to update the app with more pop ups and ads to sell you more cameras!
Vivint displays a distinct lack of care for product quality and customer experience and only cares about making more sales..Mr.goteeVersion: 26.4.401
Glitch while using the app with an iPhoneI love this system and service but I only have one complaint. I have an iPhone and early on when I first got the system this didn’t happen, but some time after an update on the app things changed where I now have a problem while trying to change the temperature in my home. I go to thermostat and when I click on downstairs this doesn’t happen, but when I click on upstairs and try to change from heat to cool or off, whenever I touch the button it doesn’t work. If I go over and touch fan, nothing either. Only after I go up to the top area and click on the 3 lines or to the sprocket and touch there and come back out can I then go back down to the bottom and click the temp or fan button and it then works. Consistently every time these are the steps I have to take in order to change the temperature but only on the upstairs setting, not the down. This never happens on my husbands Samsung phone. I’ve updated the app so many times through the hub and this glitch never goes away and it’s been well over a year now since this has been happening. I’ve changed cell phones to a new iPhone and still the same issue. I wish someone would fix this. Thank you for listening..JbnryostfamilyVersion: 23.2.301
App is great when system functions correctlyWe absolutely love the app when the Vivint system is functioning correctly. Mainly the video doorbell constantly stops working and the Sky Panel has to be rebooted to get the video functioning again which is very annoying. Technicians have been out several times, get it working only for it to stop working again sometimes hours, days or weeks later. My guess is that the Skye panel itself may need updating because my internet/WiFi works excellently. Only this time, the video is working on the Sky Panel but not on the app. So this issue may be a problem with the app. Also, we have a 2nd indoor camera that never worked after the technicians left our home. It may stay on 30 mins or less then goes offline. I think that Vivint needs to update all video components to their system. The remaining components are stable and works perfectly. We receive a lot of package deliveries which is why we need the video doorbell to work consistently. We love the system but may consider switching to a different company that can offer comparable services on a more stable system..Birmingham44Version: 3.11.1
Automation Management Could Be Much BetterThe Vivint system is a quality security/automation system and has worked mostly flawlessly for 2 years. We have several cameras, a dozen or so window/door sensors, smart locks, smart thermostat, automated blinds, garage door and a couple dozen z-wave switches and outlets. It is great having a single system to manage all these devices in one place. I have 2 main issues (costing a star each).
1) The app is very weak when it comes to managing/defining the automations. As you can imagine with the volume of devices I control, this is an extreme challenge. Not being able to group, order, set priorities or simply edit existing automations is a real pain. If they want to do it right, they should look at the automation interface on the Tramsmart App. It is one of the best I have seen so far.
2) The logic involved with a custom action that turns on lights when a door is opened (in my case door to the garage). I have the custom action turn the lights on in the garage for 10 minutes when the door to the garage opens. This issue is EVERY open of the door creates a new “off” point 10 minutes into the future. So if I go in/out the door 5 times in 5 minutes, it creates 5 independent “off” times that start 10 minutes after the first entry/exit. This becomes very annoying as the lights go off at that action+10 minute time, no matter what. I can turn the lights on manually, but they’ll still go off if there is another “off” still in the queue. The logic in that case needs to be last occurrence of the same action replaces the previous. Maybe make it a toggle on the definition?.Sfdraper1905Version: 21.10.300
Works well most of the time but...My last three interactions with Vivint. Our alarm went off and we didn’t hear it one night because it was windy and it opened the door which was ajar and the police were came over and we ended up receiving of $420 fine from the city because apparently we didn’t register our alarm? We had no idea that we had to do that and Vivint didn’t let us know. Then one Saturday morning the alarm started activating itself when I turned it off it started activating itself again and eventually started blaring and when I turned it off I turned itself on again and again and again I couldn’t fit it. When I called the Vivint telephone number I had to wait on hold for several minutes for someone to help me. Then it took about an hour to fix the problem, it really ruined my Saturday morning with my family. Then another time the thermostat stopped working and they did not send a technician to come fix the problem. They mailed me a new unit to install myself (which I had to pay $24 for) and long story short, I was having to turn off power to my entire condo and install the new unit myself. I was splicing wires and doing electrician work because they didn’t have somebody who could come fix the problem. Then to top it all off when I called to find out how I can get out of my contract I found out that I’m locked into the contact until 2024 and I would have to pay half of what I owe them which is 800 plus dollars on top of the 600 plus dollars I still owe them for the equipment that they sold me three years ago. Their staff is NEVER professional and I’m ALWAYS having to be on hold for long periods of time. So frustrating! I’ve never regretted signing a contract this much ever! This was my Google review..K_Styles_Version: 21.5.300
Application and installationI’m sure this is a great company. I think they have done away with master electricians because the system is no longer being installed right with the electrical wires inside the walls. It is being installed with a plug. I have personally one on accident bumped the plug and it has been disconnected from the main monitoring system. I left and then the monitoring company called me to tell me it was disarmed and I had worked 18 hours that way and it was really inconvenient. I’m thinking about switching over to a company that will do a different job.
As far as the application, the menus are not at all user-friendly. For example I have brinks at home and I can program it very easily to tell me who is opening the door who is not opening the door. To give them certain privileges. On the Vivint Application it is so difficult to figure out where the setting is, even then you’re guessing because it is not clear in any way shape or form. I think this is something the company can work on as I think they already have a big customer base. It would be nice for me at least because I am legally blind and needed a more user friendly company to work with.
As far as a service, the people that work for this company are excellent people and have never had an issue so far to work with them..SuchetajvVersion: 21.12.202
Can’t live without it now that I have itI really love the Vivint security system. The installation wasn’t fast it took time. A lot of work. Even though it was pouring rain all day they still showed up and installed. The installer was a perfect gentleman full of knowledge. He took the time to explain everything I’m 60 years old and my husband is 68 years old not at all familiar with smart home devices. Because of the simplicity of the Vivint security system we also added google home devices. The smart home that was provided is easy to use and we feel very safe. The first time we left the house my Yorkie set the alarm off and I immediately deactivate it and within a minute Vivint called to make sure everything was alright. We have a complete view of the front of the house including our three driveways, both sides and the back yard of the outside of our home. I have one camera in the den and it’s wonderful to be able to see and talk to the grandkids when they visit and I am contemplating installing more inside cameras. We live on almost a acre of land and the video is clear, even at night. Thank you Vivint for making security affordable and our life simple..IchibonnissanVersion: 20.2.202
Couldnt be happierWe had a new Vivint system installed a week ago and could not be happier. The app has functioned perfectly for us, arming, disarming, viewing live cameras, play back of previous footage, search of old footage (we do have the sky monkey which allows 30 days storage), we use the app to lock and unlock doors and also we have connected our Hue Bridge and can control our lights with the app as well. We have set up custom actions that work like a charm. Things as detailed as, when system is disarmed from keypad, turn kitchen and living room lights in 50% for 30 minutes.
When I needed help adding the hue bridge, I used the support option in app and chatted with an agent. It was 11pm, I had 13 people ahead of me and I had about a 5 minute wait time. Not bad. They helped and resolved immediately. The next day when I needed help on adding a user I did same chat, I had 5 ahead of me and took maybe a minute. We are just completely pleased with our equipment, our sales person Mitch, our installer Ben, the customer service agents and this app. It has worked perfectly for us..Rhondaxoxo43Version: 20.6.300
More reliable than most apps.More reliable than most apps. This is an important and vital app when your home is covered by the Vivint Security System. It’s important that this app perform as necessary for us to manage it. Occasionally, with some firmware updates, the app may misbehave or not perform its functions. However, those malfunctions are corrected quickly as a new update gets pushed out shortly after the issue is identified. I would rate this app as one of the top ten most reliable apps out of the thousands available to us. This app is a necessity to the convenience of using our Vivint Security System. Out of the near decade of our household being monitored by Vivint, we have only had a handful of issues with the app, literally five or less issues have been experienced. When things are going great with such important apps like this one, we can get on with our lives not having to deal with whether or not our security system is being managed as we want it to be. Thank you for keeping this app running with higher marks than the rest..BlckSnShynVersion: 25.6.200
Please bring back Status ViewThe app is good! A few tiny bugs but usually very stable and reliable. Unfortunately and more importantly please! Please bring back Status View on the the Hub. Not sure what the issue is with deactivating the status view. I really miss it! My kids miss it too. We want the option of activating it or deactivating it. Please Vivint give us back control of the status view! I’ll give you 5 Stars when you do.
Update: Vivint has totally removed the Status View from the HUB! Are you guys planning to replace it with a more stable or similar view? Or are you completely done with it? I don’t understand the need to totally get rid of it. The explanation on the panel makes no sense. You guys update all the time but they’re still connection issues with the cameras. Dropped recordings. Communication via the microphone to the doorbell camera whether on your phone or using the control panel is “sometimish.” Something so simply like the ability to always see the time/clock and constant weather is appreciated. Not to mention it would go a long way with most of your clients. Just bring it back please!.BajankurtVersion: 23.9.100
*Edit #2* Orientation on iPadIs there a reason that the app is not compatible with landscape mode on an iPad? It would be great to use it as a secondary touchscreen mounted in another room of the house. All of my other smart home apps have the ability to work in portrait or landscape mode. Please work on this, Vivint.
Thanks for fixing the issue I stated below regarding the cropped screen. Not sure yet about the Nest functionality. I updated the panel to 3.10 so I’ll have to give it a few more days or weeks before I can tell. I’m glad you guys added support on the app and the panel for Philips Hue lights but what about adding it for the Apple Watch? Any idea when this might be updated?? Thanks in advance!
I’m pretty sure the “fix” you guys did for the iPhone X has caused an issue with the resolution on all other iPhones. Whenever I pull up a camera now, the image is lowered at the top and cut off at the bottom. Please fix this for users who haven’t made the leap to the X. Also, I consistently lose connectivity to my Nest. I have talked to tech support and performed a reboot on the Sky Panel at least 6 times and it will work for a few weeks and then stop. It’s not my WIFI..Presdad12Version: 18.3.101
Doesn’t always workInitially when I got the system I thought the images were awesome and great but now something has changed. My daytime images almost look black and white I can’t even tell the different colors or shades that are outside which will be a problem when trying to describe someone to the police. I can’t tell what color they have on or what color a car is because there’s no color in my camera anymore. Also my system has disconnected from the Wi-Fi many times. The last time my system disconnected they could not get it to reconnect and had to come out and service my panel and that took a whole week to get an appointment . For that entire week I wasn’t able to view my security system from the app while I was at work or away from home it was a awful feeling. I got a $15 credit ... woohoo! Smdh My water sensor went out weeks ago and it takes at least eight weeks to get a new one so I haven’t had a water sensor for almost 2 months. Its exhausting to deal with this system and I’ve only had it about four or five months and I’m regretting purchasing it. About to call them again and try to figure out why I have Black and white images with no color on my camera..Msfoxe911Version: 19.10.300
Unreliable app and security systemThis app is always lagging and very slow. Every button I press takes 5 seconds or more before it does what it needs to do, that’s if it even works. Last night arriving home from work my alarm’s siren went off because the alarm panel is also very slow and lagging, it took 8 minutes after I opened my entry door for the screen of the panel to turn on and ask for my passcode, I tried tapping all over the screen and it was not responding, (it was pitch black the whole 8 minutes, including the whole time dispatch was talking to me through the panel), by then the alarm’s siren was already going off very loud, I couldn’t turn it off through the panel so I tried to turn the alarm off through the app and the app would not respond as well. I even closed the app 4 times to restart it and still it would not work. I bought 8 outdoor cameras, 6 door/window sensors, 1 doorbell, 1 door lock, and the touchscreen panel which all together cost me over $4,000. I’ve only had Vivint for 7 weeks and it has not been a pleasant experience, my panel had to be remotely rebooted two separate times by their call center off shore, I’ve had multiple talks with their loyalty, claims, and tech departments over the phone because of all the issues I’ve been experiencing with their products since day one, their tech also damaged parts of my home during install and was smoking on the job. I’ve been very understanding throughout this process and had given Vivint many chances to redeem and prove themselves with all the hassle and unsatisfactory experiences I had to go through, but at this point I believe that the money I’ve invested to provide me peace of mind about the safety of my home and my own safety is not even worth it in which I have decided to cancel my subscription from Vivint and return all their products to them..MD89183Version: 25.2.100

Vivint Negative Reviews
App reliability deteriorating w/each updateI’ve had Vivint for a cpl years and the app had minimal bugs at the beginning. Now I struggle to reliably review the videos for detected vehicles, having a grey box for a thumbnail that doesn’t play, at all, and sometimes never even providing a video for an event even though I get a notification and recording is set to “on”— though recording of a person on the same camera is pretty reliable (99% video availability when detection notification comes through for “person detected”). Sometimes when there is a recording that doesn’t respond to being tapped to play I can get around the bug/failure by reloading the event screen and rapidly tapping the screen on the video I need to review to get it to play which only works sometimes, most times nothing happens or spinning icon shows and nothing plays. Then there’s the issue of not reliably being able to deactivate/activate recording and notifications (failed command), like when being outside doing yard work and not wanting 50-75 recordings. There is also an issue now with my doorbell camera not automatically switching from IR to color which can be resolved by switching night mode on camera from auto to off and then back to auto, and many times get the “failed command” message. It’s like there are sync issues between the panel and the app or if it’s all done in a “cloud”, server corruption is causing the failures and video issues..BounceStepVersion: 25.12.200
Poor service at the corporate levelI have had issues with cameras for just about a year. Had a lady call me and tell me about the spotlights that worked with the cameras. They came and tried to install 3 cameras with spotlights. They only got 2 working, but the spotlights and the cameras never worked right. We had our house wired up for cameras but Vivint could not use them. So we had like 7 big plugs in our area where all the cameras came into the house. Those plugs would get so hot, we were concerned about fire. After trying for close to a year to get everything to work correctly. I had them replaced by a individual who knew what he was going , he added 10 cameras and got rid of the fire hazard. I have been trying since then to get my bill reduced by 7 cameras and the spotlights that I have been paying for. They will not do it, they offered a 5 dollar credit for 5 months and then it goes right back up to what it is now. The people I have dealt with some just do not listen, only one guy did but his supervisor would never talk to me after being on the phone for over an hour. The technicians that have come out and told them we do not have the cameras on our system, they will not even do anything for them. Mind you also we have paid for our the equipment which was 1000’s of dollars. So I guess now I will cancel my service with them in a month, which is sad because I have been with them for over 20 years..Hal812Version: 25.2.300
Good system, bad everything elseI want to start off by saying the system itself was great and installation was done quickly. The interface is very easy to use and works well. However, customer service is a NIGHTMARE. I sold my house and wanted to transfer the system to the new owner. It took a month of calls to get it completed: I had to call and request, they had to call the new owner and confirm, etc. it appears they just kept noting they would call her tomorrow but didn’t actually do it for several weeks. She confirmed but they didn’t tell me until I called again for an update. They tell me it’s done and I’m like “great!” They never email to confirm and I get charged for the month they were “processing the transfer”, which I don’t love but was whatever about. The next month I get charged AGAIN. When I call they told me they transferred the account to the new owner but are still charging me. I ask why? And they go “I don’t know. We’ll have our investigators look into it”. Then they tell me I have to call back on Monday for an update…excuse me? Forgive me, but if you mess up, I think you should be calling me to fix it and let me know it’s been resolved. I will never use this company again.
10/25 UPDATE: I called back to check the status, as requested. And nobody had any idea what I was talking about. I was once again told it would be handled by another department and to check back with them in 2-3 WEEKS. At that point, it will have been 3 full months since I started trying to get this completed. This company is a scam..Gabi OrlandoVersion: 23.10.500
30 day recessionThe sales man lied to me about the payment on my system . I was on the phone for 3and 1/2 hours to cancel my service. The first time. When i thought it was done i get an email saying it was denied so i called back and was on the phone for another hour. They said it should be cancelled now with no problems and no worries that a tech will get ahold of me to come remove the system and repair any damages from the install . Well the bills due soon and no one has called or let me know anything else in two weeks now. The camera tells me someones in my yard constantly . All day and night . And its a wasp or a bird i was told these cameras would not do that. The signal seems to be messing with my garage door opener as well. It will barely raise and stop. Before they put all the wifi signal boxes up beside it. It worked fine everytime. The total cost is outrageous. Actually. And you have to pay vivint and a loan place separately. And no one i talked to spoke plain english. So it is very hard to talk and understand what i was being told when i called customer service. They also talk over you and try to make you keep the system instead of realizing you are the customer and the customer comes first. I do not like being lied to and stuck with a payment i cannot pay right now and i was told i was given a free yr. Is the only reason i agreed to purchase this system. That was incorrect info. Just a lie to get me stuck paying payments right after the first month. And for five yrs after that. Beware of lying sale ppl..Jiffy pacVersion: 24.7.200
Unprofessional and uncaringI’ve been with Vivint for just over five years now. I’ve never had a problem with him until just recently. Here’s the thing, and I could not make this stuff up, I paid off all of my equipment and just weeks after all of my equipment was paid off, door sensors stopped working, window sensors stopped, working my doorbell rings randomly day or night. my front door, back door, garage door will not arm when I alarm my system or my system will randomly arm itself and disarm itself whenever it feels like it, or it will randomly go off all by itself. someday’s my panel works and some days my panel does not. I have reached out to Vivint 5-6 times in the last 5-6 months for them to tell me that I had to go through the whole rebooting system or pay $100 for a tech to come out or get new equipment and then I finally sit on the phone. Finally get them to get somebody to come out here and schedule me an appointment And nobody shows up! I reach out. They said they didn’t even have an appointment for me. The heifer lied to me. I’ve never been late on a payment, never been late on my equipment I’ve never caused a fuss and now every time I reach out I’m wrong for wanting to keep my family safe as I live in the inner city! I’m supposed to just be fine with paying $60 a month for a sign in my window! I tell you what I would never recommend them or refer someone! Vivint needs to be ashamed of themselves.SheRickman056Version: 25.8.300
DONT DO IT!!!!!!!I hope I save someone’s life with this review. Please don’t do it. Keep looking. They hook you in with over selling the service like it’s the best thing out there and when there’s an issue you gotta pay hundreds of dollars. They’re not as available as they make it seem, and the equipment doesn’t even work as it should. I’ve had my camera go offline on a regular basis and I’m not even notified. I literally have to check the gd app twice a day now just to make sure it’s working properly. When we call it’s so much to get things properly working (customer service is not helpful, they’re just trying to sell us the insurance to it which if I’m paying thousands of dollars for it why would it be necessary with faulty equipment?). It’s better just to go elsewhere. We tried to cancel the stupid service and it would be about 5 grand. Not worth it! Also my car has gotten broken into at least twice and one car was stolen. Both cars were within the sight of the camera but did it catch any of the crimes? That’s a big fat NOPE. There is a HUGE discrepancy between the people on the phone in their comfy seats and those that go door to door. No they DO NOT upgrade you “for free” and they DO NOT move your equipment “for free.” They also DO NOT fox their own dang equipment for free!! You have to pay for it all!!!!!! $150 PER DEINSTALLATION AND INSTALLATION FOR A MOVE!!! It is absolutely ridiculous and not worth it at all. This is my biggest regret. I wish I would’ve slammed the door on that kid’s face when he came offering this service..FfghdtgzhhhxhgvjVersion: 23.10.300
Poor customer serviceI have been with the company since 2017. They had me to get the protection plan for $9.99 a month. Every time something went wrong with my equipment, I would call they would give me a problem. They have since upgraded to new equipment, I didn’t want to upgrade because I would have to pay for new equipment, I have the protection plan that you all told me to get and it would always cover my equipment. A technician once came out and told me that as long as I had the protection plan and something went wrong with the equipment and the customer paid for that new item that was having issues, the company is supposed to upgrade your other equipment because you pay for the protection plan, in order for all of your to work properly. They sent a technician out to fix one issue, but I was having multiple issues, the company told me when that technician come out, have him to look at everything. He refused, to look at the equipment, we had a few words because I didn’t want him to wear shoes in my house without shoe covers. He left without fixing my equipment, they won’t send anyone else out, the equipment doesn’t work properly, my daughter care was broken into outside of my house. They are also still charging me monthly for the bill, will not send anyone out, they removed my protection plan without my consent, and the equipment doesn’t work!!!!.HCACSVersion: 26.1.300
Vivint appThe app itself is better than previous version, however connectivity is horrible. I constantly am being disconnected from video when trying to view my cameras, half the time the app does not load or takes more than a minute to load. What’s the point of having security cameras and alerts when you cannot load the video in time? We use a camera in garage for backing up the boat in the tight space and sometimes it takes me 15 minutes because the video would drop after 5-10 secs, then load again and then drop again and take 2-3 minutes to load. I would have to exit out of app and close it, then load the video again and then it would drop the video. Mind you this all happens while I have full reception of Wi-Fi because I purposely bought a strong enough mesh system and put one in the garage for this reason. I’ve tried to get an answer from vivint and they blame the app connecting to the garage door openers which is another problem in itself that sometimes shows that it failed to close the garage door, when I sat there in the car and watch the door close. And then sometimes the app works fine. Not really much help from Vivint other than them telling me to update the app, so every time I have these issues I look for an update that isn’t available..Fishy671Version: 23.2.100
Overpriced Low Quality EquipmentVivint alarm and security response is good. The equipment however is low grade trash with a hefty hefty price tag! Trust me…. The equipment is garbage. The sensor batteries are constantly failing and sensors not communicating correctly to the main panel. Speaking of the main panel - this is the biggest pile of trash - the screen shuts off (totally black) after a few minutes of turning it on. So… instead of being able to view the cameras whenever you desire, you can’t because all you see a black screen. Vivint’s explanation proves their equipment is garbage. THEY CLAIM that the panel needs to hibernate so it does not overheat! It’s an LED screen for crying out loud. Total trash. I have a 10 year old CCTV monitor right next to the Vivint panel. The CCTV monitor shows my other 8 Swan brand cameras that were installed 10 years ago, and the monitor NEVER is off. In fact the Vivint sales person pointed out that my CCTV is totally outdated and the Vivint screen is the latest and greatest and that I will never look at my CCTV again. Well, I never use the Vivint panel because it’s never “on.” So I resort to the Vivint alarm system and ignore the garbage cameras and monitors, and I only use my 10 year old Swan cameras for monitoring activity. Oh yeah… the Vivint monitor and the 3 cameras alone, cost almost $3000! Not including all the sensors that cost about $150 each…. See if you can get the alarm system only and tell Vivint to keep their overpriced trash equipment…..Sucky EquipmentVersion: 22.6.200
Dreidel1. By the time you get to access past clips you’ll have already walked into your home and get mugged.
2. By the time it Actually ARMS your system you can bake a cake abd let it cool.
3. I Would like to DELETE a clip from ANY platform. ANY.!!! Like an email!! Get your coders on it!! I should be able to delete from an individual cameras activity.! I should be able to delete from all activities camera! I should be able to exit out of any platform, any camera in which I am and delete any clip I want to delete. I should not have to then utilize my finger strokes to go back to a particular section in the app to delete. It’s a waste of time and it’s not smart at all.
4. Also, I have screen recorded the continuous spinning that occurs. Ask me how long the app spun on ANY camera!!!! Ask me how long this great App didn’t even time out but ask me how long it kept spinning.!!!! Call me and ask me what the record is for this spinning and me not being able to access my camera when I need to access any given camera at any given time!!!!! What’s your best guess!!! Trust me this record is nothing to be proud of. In fact, you should be downright embarrassed and ashamed. Used to be good, now brokenThis app previously was fine, for over a year of use it did what you would want perfectly well. Then a few months ago there was some sort of update and since then it is CONSTANTLY logging me out and asking if I want to log in via passcode or faceID whereas previously it would just seamlessly login via faceID. Or worse, it just gets stuck forever on the loading screen (this is happening as I write this and I’m completely unable to use the app despite force quitting etc), OR it won’t register changes in the armed/disarmed state. So basically completely broken most of the time.
This is not only obnoxious but downright dangerous. Just this afternoon, a guest accidentally triggered the alarm and normally I would have been able to disarm with the app from my upstairs bedroom and all would have been quickly resolved. But now with the app being its usual stupid self, I was completely unable to do anything via the app, and it fact it never even registered that anything was happening despite the alarm going off. This is DANGEROUS and completely irresponsible for Vivint to push out bad software like this.
Again I emphasize all this worked fine until a few months ago so clearly there has been some faulty update that started this. PLEASE fix this ASAP..TangLaoshiVersion: 24.4.100
Terrible Experience with Vivint Security SystemI’ve had nothing but problems since the day I got my Vivint security system. The cameras constantly give me inaccurate notifications telling me there are people at my door when there’s absolutely no one there. I get alerts for wind blowing, rain, snow, or anything except what actually matters. It’s completely unreliable.
I’ve called customer service multiple times, and no one has been able to fix the issues. They walk me through the same steps over and over with no results. They even sent people out to help after installation, and they still didn’t solve anything. I’m stuck with cameras that do not work the way they should and a company that can’t seem to support their own product.
On top of that, Vivint is extremely misleading. They don’t tell you until installation day that you’ll be signing loan paperwork just to get the system. The pricing they originally give you doesn’t match what they present later, and suddenly they need to run your credit report to finalize everything. None of this was explained upfront, and it feels very dishonest.
Overall, Vivint has been a horrible experience from start to finish. The system is unreliable, the customer service is useless, and the sales process is misleading. I would never recommend Vivint to anyone. Save your money and look elsewhere..NicknameninaaaaaaaaVersion: 25.11.401
STAY AWAY!! Total ScamSTAY AWAY!!! We PAID IN FULL but when the technician showed up, his work order is Completely Different than our paid in full quote (it was missing Several of the cameras/sensors we PAID IN FULL for) The technician left. We spent more than an hour on the phone each representative would just transfer us without telling us they were transferring us, then the person who picked up would have no idea what’s going on. We spoke to a couple different managers but NO ONE knows what’s going on. (one of the managers tried to say that the technician must be inexperienced, although he says he’s told me he’s been with the company for 20 years. Also, another manager insinuated that I must’ve let a random person into my house - who was wearing a Vivint shirt and had all my info - instead of one of their technicians. Ummm… even if that’s true, the “real“ technician never showed up, then. That’s ridiculous.) Before the install debauchery, every time we called to try to confirm our quote and pay for it, NO ONE knew what was going on, nor could they find our last quote (even though we had quote numbers) so we always had to go up to a manager to rebuild the quote that we had. They are an absolute hot mess. My mother canceled her system that she has had for years, and I requested a refund and canceled everything, as well. I have yet to be refunded..LV BewareVersion: 25.8.100
Very disappointed with VivintThe application for Vivint is OK. It stalls a lot and that is not helpful when you need to have a more immediate response when you’re trying to see who’s at your front door. But the service overall has been incredibly disappointing. We have had over the last several years about eight different representatives, all of whom have not delivered on promises that were made when we first got the service. The customer service through Covid was unbelievably terrible and now it’s barely any better. No matter how many customer service representatives we have talk to they all make promises to make the right, the many wrongs of the service and not one person, including the supervisor has responded to concerns that we have registered literally for years. There are always Vivint customer service reps, crawling throughout our neighborhood, and we stop every one of them to share our experience. They all express their regret, take our phone number, and file to have someone to contact us immediately. We’re still waiting, and it’s been three years. I do not recommend Service to anyone. It is a support example of what excellent customer service should be, and it is far less than what any customer deserves. This is an expensive service with very cheap attention to the needs of its customers..Elle J. DeanVersion: 23.7.400
I’m losing my patienceI’ve intentionally held back from leaving a review for months just so I could fully evaluate this app. I got their service in January. So, now let me share my experience. The app and cameras go offline every 1-2 hours per day. I’m very tech savvy, but my experience thus far takes the cake. I’m not impressed and I spend more time I. The phone troubleshooting the issue. Only to discover that I end up with a solution vs the reps. You guys have to hire a more competent staff and fix this app!!! Goodness, it’s so unstable. I can’t even look at the live view after updating to the percentage buffer when the video is loading via my doorbell. I met with constant error messages. Do more testing or get better beta testers to ensure the app will work before releasing it. This is ridiculous. I’m beyond annoyed at this point!!! 😤
Update 11/2
I don’t understand why you all would remove the ability to reset the panel from the phone. It was helpful having that feature. Now if the panel is down and I’m checking my home from the phone. Everyday I have to call you all to fix it because the panel goes offline every single day. Stop removing things and focus on making the app experience more stable. Apparently your beta testers and the app developers need to do a better job before releasing these updates because the app becomes more and more useless every release..Sey Wha?!Version: 19.11.100
Hit and missI am really not impressed with Vivint. Their equipment is overpriced, their app is hit and miss, yet is portrayed to be the best thing since the invention of the wheel. Sometimes it loads, sometimes it doesn’t. Loads on my wife’s phone, but not mine, just today. Didn’t change anything, except waking up to another day. Vivint needs to get it together because although I spent $4000 on the equipment, I’m about ready to throw it in the trash and spend another $2000 on a system that isn’t WiFi dependent on their device connectivity and another thing that irritates me: I’m constantly getting notifications that a sensor has a low battery, but upon inspection through the same panel that’s notifying me, it shows the sensor still has 70+% battery life. Oh, and then the sales rep, Sean, calls me out of the blue asking why I’m encroaching on his territory. I said, “Excuse me?” He continued to press me and I finally told him, “…dude, you sold me the system and know da** well I don’t work for Vivint…” He didn’t even remember me and reluctantly apologized half heartedly at best. Pi**ed me off for a moment, honestly.
Their sales people really need to learn some manners and stop and think before they call people they’ve spoken with at length and practically interrogate them based on false pretenses..PassingmongooseVersion: 26.4.401
VivintThis company is not loyal to their customers. One day just out the blue my cameras stopped working. Was always able to check the cameras away from home inside and out. Footage would stay on camera I guess about 15 days. Had an incident once at the house and had to review footage to give to police. The quality was pretty good as well when viewing from my phone. Then that day came when it no longer worked and I called to report it and was told I did not and never did have playback. The company had new upgraded cameras to offer and I was almost done with my payments, so this was their way of having me to upgrade my equipment. It just really upset me when I was told I never had playback when I know I did…this is not how you get your customers to upgrade their equipment (disconnecting it from their end). I had been with Vivint for at least 10 years. I have never missed a payment, by the way. The newly generation cameras that were install were guaranteed better quality and clarity and that’s a lie. These cameras are awful. They don’t even record properly. I’m so upset with Vivint for selling this poor quality equipment. Now every time I call to speak with someone regarding this I can never get a person to handle this issue..Bluebird GirlfriendVersion: 24.7.400
Wouldn’t recommendI would have never recommend this company to be honest. From the start it was just red flag after red flag. The salesmen offered a buyout of $300 from my original company when in fact my buyout was over $1700. Offering just $300 without asking any questions seemed off until I had to raise the question and call my provider to find the details. They were at my house until about 9:30 pm trying to get clarification and permissions. Proceeded to ask if they could get installation done that same night, that it would only take about 30 minutes. Install crew showed up and didn’t leave until about 12:30 am. The install crew said he didn’t know why the salesman said an hour install because it is well over 2 hours for a complete install. The icing on the cake was when I was charged just under $900 for no apparent reason. No one could tell me what the charge was for or where it came from but it took them two weeks to refund my money. No compensation, barely even an apology was given. Constant calling back & forth, constantly getting transferred through departments, and even trying to upsell me. The front door lock was faulty (unlocking in the middle of the night on its own). Honestly, has been a joke from the start. I can’t wait to be done with this company..Trap***Version: 25.10.200
Getting worse.I did like Vivint at first. But customer service is not great at all. No matter what warranty or not you paying just for them to come look at it. The cams freeze none stop. Can’t record what you need to. Cause it freeze or app just crash on your phone. I have 1G speed no reason should stop. All cams set to HD. But still pixelated. Was told that our system is 4K that’s a lie. The app is ver slow. When you need to play back video later in the day to show cops something that happen like someone stealing from your mail box or someone in your yard breaking into something. You can kiss that goodbye. Cause trying to play back something it either freeze, buffers, or just crash. And can’t download the recording. Nope it crashes. The video keeps getting worse. Can’t see people’s faces at times. When someone triggers the alarm for long time. You don’t get a call like they said they would do. Nope hear nothing. I can’t wait to be done with Vivint to go somewhere more legit. Felt like I got lied to over and over again from Vivint. Hate talk bad bout stuff like this. But Vivint is not worth the money. Someone said they would come back tomorrow and fix the cord they had installed in the garage bring the smoke detector and carbon monoxide detector as well as my fathers life alert no one ever showed. I followed up a couple times a week was never able to get anybody to contact me until I literally was on hold being transferred within five hours at a minimum to get someone to finally come to my home, they never showed. The next day I called I was on hold with someone trying to figure out what happened for three hours promised someone would come out tomorrow between the hours of eight and 12 to deliver the equipment that was missing and fix the cord in the garage, No one ever showed. I called a few more times and felt like I was just getting a run around . Now I’m probably going to have to call again and be on the phone for five hours just to get somebody to come out. Improvements Needed10-ish years Vivint customer. We have had so many issues after upgrading a few years ago.
We have a farm so we installed extra outdoor camera that are attached to the house just as the doorbell camera. We also have the thermostat and security/alarm system. Whenever I want to playback footage, it either shuts down the app/ panel or just gets stuck and buffers, (can not view playback at this time)
It doesn’t matter if it’s 2 minutes or 2 days, I have to select the rewind button, let it error and then close out the app completely. Every time. Not to mention, the thermostats like to reset randomly, but often. We came home today to thermostats set to 80. This happens A LOT. We have to take the thermostats cover off, wait about a minute and then put it back on the wall, let it countdown from 4:59 seconds to reset itself. THEN…reset up the thermostat to our settings. Sometimes videos will have sound and sometimes not. Sometimes we will have only the sound and a frozen video. We have reset, called, had it looked at here at home by a Vivint tech, unplugged, plugged back in, redownloaded, uninstalled, logged out, logged back in…to no avail.
We keep it bc the system is setup and I’m not desperate enough to tear all this out and start over with a new company. But, I’m getting pretty close as it has lately become worse than usual and much more frequent. Oh, and the microphones are so delayed when talking through them, it just makes for a very awkward attempt at a conversation with someone as to why they are at your door. And the person detected feature only works when very close to the camera. (We checked the settings) Now that I type it all out, I realize just how long of a list this is. 😳🙄.Alinza D.Version: 25.11.201
AppI honestly can say I regret getting Vivint. I first got them back in 2019 and was actually really impressed. We moved in 2021 and got set back up with them in 2023 and it’s been an absolute joke. I normally don’t rate and write reviews but I’m so fed up with them and wish they would take the tiniest bit of accountability but they won’t. Their app is trash. It used to be good about 5 years ago but now If there’s someone at the doorbell the app takes about 30 seconds to finally load and by then the persons usually gone. A lot of times it doesn’t load at all. Trying to watch recorded videos also is a joke. They struggle to load. Oftentimes they don’t so I just close the app. I’ve also found out that if you join an activity live it doesn’t record it, which there’s been multiple times we’ve wanted the recording because something funny has happened. Trying to talk to someone through the camera doesn’t work because it’s not two way talking. If I talk to someone from one of the cameras I have to push a button but it mutes the audio of the person I’m talking to like a walky talky so if they respond and I still have my finger on the talk button I can’t hear them, so it’s often a delay and a lot of people asking “what?”. I’m stuck in a contract or I would just get rid of it..HroebVersion: 24.7.200
Not impressedWe’ve only had Vivint since the beginning of June and the doorbell went offline 3 days after having it. Here we are not even 2 months later and our spotlight pro has gone offline. The technician that initially installed the doorbell and spotlight pro didn’t use spacers, and the wires get easily pinched and were not properly connected to the contact points on the device. When you call customer support they have to reach out to tech support, and it takes them a month and a half to get a tech out to fix the issue. There are not adequate install videos or troubleshoot instructions to fix the issue. I loved having a security system at first, but now I’m seriously regretting my purchase because of the frequent technical issues and lack of supplying a technician in a decent timeframe. The main tech they sent out to fix the doorbell was very nice and knowledgeable and supplied me with his personal number but when I reached out, I was given the same “reboot” “recycle power” instruction and if that doesn’t work call customer support and place a ticket. Called customer support for the spotlight pro and was advised that I’d receive an email with a date and time to expect the tech. Email has not been received. I’m not happy nor impressed with Vivint. Do better Vivint..Wild_dove123Version: 25.8.100
Terrible cameras and detection.I’ve had vivint for nearly a year now and I’ll say it’s not worth the money. The security is great with lock door features and the options of alarming the house when your away, however we really hoped the cameras would be better than Rings camera as they said it should, but it’s worse and lacking. We have terrible neighbors and trying to build a case against them we need our cameras to record any movement in our front and backyard. When we had ring we can save the footage whenever we went to live camera mode as well as talk through our back camera, and the detection sensitivity was so high it even start recording when a cat was detected in our backyard, but vivint don’t even have that feature let alone high sensitivity detection. Vivint never records whenever something is detected in our backyard or porch even when I put the settings to high sensitivity. We always have huge time gaps in our camera recording time. Even when using the app and we need to check the cameras it never fully work or we get a message saying the vivint system is having troubles. For the money and trouble we spent on this service I expected better at the end we still continue to use our Ring regardless of having Vivint that’s how terrible I feel it is..Ryan.2009Version: 21.7.200
This company is a scam and doesn’t deserve 4.5 starsFirst off I just wanted to say that these people lie. I was home one day and a salesmen came to my door and presented me with Vivint, a cutting edge security system that can control your thermometer, lights, motion detector and has a doorbell that records videos. It all sounded amazing so I decided to purchase it. The very next day the system lost WiFi, so I couldn’t even access the system while I was at work. I was told it would still record even while it was offline, which was a lie. I called the service team and was told that they couldn’t fix it. I then had to call the guy would sold me the system and he came over, told me that apparently they received a batch of faulty panels from the manufacturer and they just needed to replace it. That night a technician came over to replace the motherboard, which did not fix the issue. After about 2 hours they decided to replace it with a brand new, “hasn’t even been released to the public” smart hub panel. The seller told me that this new model wouldn’t have any issues. Only a week had passed before another issue with the smart hub panel came up. It is an inconvenience on me to have to call multiple times a month to have any issues with this system taken care of. This security system is not worth buying and I wish I never had..Ver01ynnVersion: 18.7.501
A lot of issues so farLet me start by saying, I wanted my comment nickname to be “frustrated customer” and it was taken…. Not a good start…. We recently had our system installed. It’s our first time having a Vivint system, and have had several issues. The installation technician did not put batteries in the thermostat, and when they were finally installed it caused all other devices (including the A/C) to crash, because the system had not been “calibrated properly”. No doorbell or cameras either. They wouldn’t send a tech out until they walked us through troubleshooting it over the phone. When I say I spent a FRUSTRATING hour and a half on the phone, it’s an understatement.. We were then told that a technician wasn’t available for two weeks. Which meant no air conditioning for two weeks, in August, in Oklahoma!! Then we were told they would wave the service fee and that we “probably won’t owe anything”. SERIOUSLY?? It was never installed properly. Why would us owing anything even be considered?? After throwing a big fit, they were able to get someone out in three days. The new technician showed us features and codes we had not been shown at installation. This company has some improvements to make..System is yuckVersion: 21.8.200
Useless, should be sued, can’t give it ZERO1. Lately all the cameras are “Tap to skip to the next video”, usually happens when we need the video playback the most. 2. Long lag on doorbell camera, by the time I get the doorbell camera to load on the app the people have already left. 3. The alarm started to count down on its own and we didn’t even set it(lucky I was home). 4. The “orange boxes” under detection settings constantly disappear and we have to reset each box for each camera two to three times a month. 5. When we call the customer service center they blamed me for not “checking on the detection boxes periodically” or blamed me cause “our panel wasn’t updated with the latest software?” I have more issues but this post isn’t going anywhere, as I have sent emails up the ladder only to be compt’ed for one one month of service, but it is still crappy service. I don't care how much you charge me monthly, just please make the system work like it is intended to. They have really gone down hill in the last year. Can’t cancel cause it renders the camera useless. They are charging me $35/mth just so I can use my own equipment, no vivint monitoring or emergency calls to the authorities, THAT is the real crime..Mari austinVersion: 21.2.200
Very disappointedSo I will not mention names due to the risk of a good employee loosing his job. Because he is trained to promise a great product. Which it should be! I put my trust in Vivint as I had a system with y’all back in 2011 and wasn’t able to have it moved from one house to another bc of excuses, that there were no available installers. Well a sales man came and promised me that Vivint was the leader in security systems, so I bit on it bc I really do like Vivint as a whole. But our brand new system has so many glitches, garage door opener does not work with installed equipment bc the app will not let me register it. I’ve reached out to my salesman and he has set up technicians to come and check everything and we have yet to see a technician! Since the very beginning of having Vivint. I have hope that Vivint will make things right and compensate us for our system and fix everything. If they do not I will go to the furthest extent to make sure I get everything I paid down! I will not pay another dime until my VIVINT SECURITY SYSTEM WORKS 100%!! I will take this review down if problems are resolved and I’m compensated for lost time with a fully functional security system! Thank you! Hope we can work together and get everything fixed and working soon!.GDA AggieVersion: 25.2.300
Terrible since Telus purchased Vivint. This is supposed to be a security app. Most times it doesn’t load or it takes forever to open. The alerts work occasionally at best. So disappointed as I’ve been a Vivint customer for years before Telus took it over. Telus is terrible..Crusher285Version: 23.11.400

ServiceHorrible service since telus has taken over vivint. our doorbell hasn’t worked in 5 weeks. 6 hours on the phone talking to “customer service” was a complete fail. we will definitely not recommend vivint to anyone. why didn’t the system notify vivint that our doorbell/camera wasn’t working? what if there was a break in at our house? very disappointed in you vivint/telus..Davesgreen2010Version: 23.5.500
Run like hell!By far the worst service we’ve ever had. Grossly over priced, app regularly fails, customer service is horrible..LordKittyhawkVersion: 23.5.301
FuriousHad our carport camera stolen!
When we asked if they would replace it or give a discount, they refused.
We all did the new update and now the app takes FOREVER to load.
Seriously thinking of finding another security company as Vivint’s customer service has gone downhill fast this past year.
Why pay for a system that constantly has issues????.Albertan_PixieVersion: 21.11.300
Not impressedFor a home security app, this is really glitchy. App takes for ever to load, can’t open cameras playback not available at times etc. Vivint! Do Better!!.SpalonkaVersion: 21.11.100
Horrible update to this appI’m a vivint customer for more than 5 years. Since vivint has updated this app the experience has turned for satisfaction to horror. This app is so bad, so unstable , constantly glitching I’m speechless. Vivint please! Fix this app now..RoastfishVersion: 21.11.100

Telus’s takeover from VivintThey suck! They will not repair or replace items and just want to make me spend more money on a system I’ve had for the past ten years..Markj1803Version: 26.1.300
Just. Horrible.App takes forever to load when you get a notification, so what is the point of calling this security?? Example - Someone is at my door, I’m away from home and I open the app to see what’s happening, but by the time it loads, the person triggering the alert is gone and it doesn’t record what took place. Video is also very poor and sound lags and is distorted. I’ve had so many issues with the app and remain frustrated with the lack of support. If an emergency, I would not feel safe, so that’s enough for me to pull the plug on this ‘home security’ system. Moving on...MeUrsTurnVersion: 25.11.201
Waste of moneyThe system works less than half the time. Video clips won’t load. Brutal.Willy7931Version: 25.11.201
Does not reflect what is happening on the panelThe app will not match up with the panel , ie… thermostat read 20*and holding when I open the app it say 19* and cooling also ridiculously laggy on the camera loading on both also cameras and disarming is very laggy.MudyHaloVersion: 25.10.200

Terrible AppThis app is terrible. Constant bugging and crashing. After leaving and arming your home, the app will tell you a door is left open. Upon entering your home and attempting to turn off the alarm, the app will be unresponsive and not allow it. For such high importance of a home security alarm, which carries a monthly fee, I expect a fully functioning app..Dpais515Version: 25.4.400
Telus Canada ruined our service confidence.Ever since Telus took over Vivint here in Canada the app is always having problems. More than ever before. Constant panel reboots, doorbell cams and outdoor cameras going offline consistently. The Apple Watch app still sucks and doesn’t talk back and forth to your phone or the panel properly. The system on the app says it’s armed, or a door is open, or the garage door didn’t close, but in actuality it’s the complete opposite. In the last year I’ve had more problems with my system than I did the past 6-7 previous years when I was with Vivint Canada directly. Plus now on top of everything I get marketing calls from Telus non stop.
When my contract is up I will be cancelling this service and going with Bell Canada or nothing.
Sad because the Vivint products are actually good quality. They shouldn’t have went with 5GHz wifi because there’s way too much interference these days in that spectrum..PieterMonnierVersion: 25.3.500

Half the time it doesn’t workI’ll lock my door and set the alarm, and it tells me the door is unlocked. It notifies me batteries are low in a device, so I replace them. Door Bell doesn’t ring.
Customer service is really nonexistent.

Terrible since Telus take overCameras go offline, have to rebooted through APP, as we’re out of the country. Camera’s say their back online but they’re not synced to the APP & they are still showing images from days ago. Tech support couldn’t give me any phone number that will work from outside North America. The whole reason we have a system in the first place. We’re away 1 week & something always goes down..Aunty KillerVersion: 24.11.200
Trying to cancel but no luckThe salesman came here he lied about the contract when my husband signed it. He had to pay double what he was told. Tried to cancel it multiple times the customer service on phone said we are cancelled but still haven’t send us the cancelled contact and it is still Charing us. And if we want out of the contract we have to payout the equipment. It’s been 5 years and they haven’t sent a person to do any maintenance. Our smoke detector went off and took forever to get in hold of customer service and all they told me was to reset it and they didn’t even send a person to inspect my device. App is trash always crash…overall not satisfy with the company..KwingYskVersion: 24.10.400
UnreliableWe have had this service for years and haven’t been able to lock and unlock our front door remotely for years. We just gave up trying to get it working again because you need at least a 3 hour window to dedicate to problem solving with the tech on the phone and at the end they send a tech to come tell you they can’t fix it.
We have also not been able to removing users either. Same results so we just change their passcode.
And lastly, our alarm will get triggered at random times and sometimes it happens when we are away and we will have police show up to our house while we aren’t there. There doesn’t seem to be a certain action or event that happens. Sometimes we will just arrive home as usual and it gets triggered when we key in our code and the court down starts to enter our code at the panel. When that happens with a pet sitter they shouldn’t need or have access to the panel, but we have to give it to them incase it happens when they are there.
I do like having the cameras in the house and at the door. But the recordings are completely unreliable. We have had our car broken into 3 times 10 feet in front of the camera with our porch light on and the camera doesn’t trigger, but if someone walks down the street 30 feet from our door on the same line of sight it will trigger. Or it leaves are blowing around on a windy day it’s going off none stop. We have played around with the field it monitors but it doesn’t make a difference.
We were given a new doorbell camera to see if it works better but they told us we had to install it ourselves. So it’s still sitting in a drawer..Every nickname taken even thisVersion: 24.8.100

UPDATE what a lousy app!! It won’t play back. Basically can’t do anything on it other than watch real time. I thought it would improve and maybe it was a glitch but nope! Nothing works on the app and when it tries I just see a spinning wheel. Think it time to check out a different company! It seems like there is always something wrong. Playback is rarely available.
