Update to past reportImprovement. The remote works again. Not sure why it sporadically works, but now it does. Also, because I deleted it in an attempt to fix it, the ads came back because I essentially deleted the first download. However, the creator responded to my emails, and provided with information to restore my “no ads” purchase. It’s simple: go to search screen within the remote app, hit the menu button at the top left, and then simply scroll down to the “restore purchase.” So far it works. The remote app has been sporadically working, so I think it’s a WiFi thing. The creator responded to me, so thank you very much for that. It’s working and the ads are gone. Way to many adds!This free version of the remote works great even with the extreme amount of adds. I noticed a handful of one star reviews for the only reason being “to many Adds” If your to cheap to spend a few bucks for the add free experience don’t rate the app poorly because of it. The developers have to get paid just like any body else they are not doing Charity work so that you can have an awesome remote for your 65” $4k TV! I am a free user so I wait for the short 1s-7s add you don’t even have to watch the whole add you can click skip! This is the only remote that works Fully with my Samsung I’ve tried others but always come back to this one. It’s easy to connect click find your tv then click enter bottom with keyboard on your tv and it works. The paid version is hands down worth it because you get the add free experience lol but you get the cool keyboard typing option so you don’t have to click and arrow to each letter when searching. And it’s easier to turn tv off and on you don’t have to click find my tv every time you turn your tv off for a minute. This is my longest review of a free app ever I was just to appalled by the one star reviews because of adds. WAY too many pop up addsI’ve downloaded/used a few different remotes. This one by far has the most amount of pop up adds per remote clicks. They allow you 3-5 remote clicks before an app pops up and interrupts you. It makes using the remote extremely annoying and takes twice as long to get anything done. This is especially annoying when you’re trying to search a movie/show on Netflix or any other streaming service… it literally takes me on average a good 5 mins to punch in a movie/show title. I get that it’s free, but I use another free universal remote for my Vizio tv that has ZERO pop up adds. Still trying to find a free, add free remote for my Samsung tv… in the mean time this one is annoying, but works.. I gave it 3 stars because the remote itself works well. Purchase doesn’t transfer devicesThe app works great for my needs. I did purchase the app to remove ads and it works great. However, the purchased app doesn’t transfer to my iPad which uses the same Apple ID, and so when I upgrade my phone I suspect my purchase will be lost. Worth the "Add Removal" Fee!My Samsung remote, for some odd reason, interferes and works (with no clear direction) on my 2 Black+Decker tower fans. It shuts them off, changes all the settings, and does it with every other click of the remote sometimes. And, I lost the fan remote, so now we have to keep resetting them. Stop complaining if you are using for free weirdosSo far the people I’ve seen that complains are the ones that have ads running. If you are using for free, deal with it. $8 is nothing for a permanent wifi remote you essentially never have to replace. No annoying batteries. Although the wifi connection does “reset” sometimes and if you’ve lost your remote you can simply use your tv button to press yes when pairing is required. Better than Samsung app by far but needs workI like the features of this app. However one big issue I have is if I turn the TV off with the real Samsung remote (not this app nor the Samsung app), I cannot turn on the TV with this app. One main reason for this app is to use it if you lose or misplace your remote. Decent appStores apparently don’t carry company specific remotes anymore and I really needed a remote. Downloaded the app the ads were literally every 5 seconds so I bought ad free. I needed a remote and it was only $6. Ad free works ok I’ve noticed that after I’ve been in the app too long or pressed a few too many buttons at the same time (change the channel then turn up the volume) I have to leave the app, come back then the buttons will work again. Counterintuitive to say the leastApp works perfectly after it’s completely set up. You still need the actual remote to use itI had to download this because my dog chewed up the remote. I didn’t realize you had to actually use the remote in order to connect the TV to your phone. Luckily we were able to play with it a little and could connect it, but if your remote is lost or completely broken there’s no way you can connect your phone. Unbelievable deceit and greedI downloaded this app in 2020, paid the one time payment to permanently remove ad, and everything seemed to work smoothly. 2021, for security reasons, I had to create a new iCloud account, downloaded the app again, and just as the first time, I paid to remove ads permanently. 2023, I try to use the app, and I see back to ads. Oh no big deal, I think, let me just restore my purchase. Ok, nothing seems to be out of order, at first, then as I try to connnect the app to my tv, I caught drift of how they essentially will screw over people who had made the one time payment. So I see in these reviews they keep saying “hi, just restore purchase” but that’s just their way of mediating their duplicitous nature and appearing to honor the deal with the customers who have paid that one time fee. But that is as far as the honor it. Just telling you to restore it, but that doesn’t do anything. Sure the ads are removed, but lacks functionality. When trying to connect, you won’t be able to. It will suggest you download their “universal control app” every time you try to connect. Even Samsung devices this message will appear and will only take you to the App Store to download it, or dismiss the pop up message to remain disconnected. This universe app, of course, is subscription based. No one time payment. No honor. Ads and more adsTo start off, when I first downloaded the app it connected to my Tv just fine... the only reason I need this is because I haven’t seen the actual controller in like a year. And because it was easy to connect it gets an extra star, because from the reviews I’ve seen on other controllers, weren’t happy about connecting it. This app would be perfect... if it didn’t have ads. I get it that you need to make money and it’s free to download, but $6?! You can get rid of ads on Tetris for $5. This is a TV controller. Tetris is a free video game and it has less ads than this. I believe that a TV controller should have little to no ads because who needs them. As I said, it’s a controller. You’re supposed to be turning up the volume not clicking out of ads. Another complaint is how slow the buttons click, not too much of a bother for me but it still is annoying. Cannot subsequently connect to TVI downloaded this app and even paid almost $10 for it to remove ads. In the first instance, it does show PIN on the TV and can connect to Samsung TV. In just about a week or so, for no rhyme or reason, it stops recognizing the TV. Borderline unusable — just buy a remoteAs a remote this app is functional — if you can handle pressing one button every 7-10 seconds in between pop up ads. UnfortunateThe advertisements are completely out of control. There are videos with sound that you can't exit out of until you watch a given amount of the ad first. When switching from another app to the Sam remote it will initially display the remote screen before reloading another advertisement which leads to clicking on the screen only to be hijacked to the advertisement's webpage. When you come back from that advertisement to open use the remote you GET ANOTHER AD!!!! It is incredibly annoying. Terrible Since New UpdateThis app used to be pretty handy; I lost my remote over a year ago and have been using this app for my Samsung Smart tv ever since. My one reservation is that whenever I’d open the app, was idle for a while, or revisit the app from another app an advertisement would come up. It was understandable, it’s how they make money. UnresponsiveTotally and absolutely unresponsive with my Samsung MU6500 and my Samsung 4k Blu Ray player. NONE of the buttons work, even though it supposedly “detected” my TV and/or connection almost immediately. “And/or”? Convenient... When it works.This app always has trouble connecting to my television even though both are on the same Wi-Fi network. I usually have to try five times and it finally works. You will spend most of your time trying to connect to your TV in frustration. Be warned. Update months later... Still the same situation. I have to go through the same song and dance with the app every single time I load it. I try to connect four times finally says it connects on the fifth time but it is not really connected so then I have to try again and finally get it to connect for real on the sixth time and then it finally works. It gets really old. Another update more months later: I have figured out that it takes five attempts to connect the remote to Wi-Fi before it will give you notification that it has been connected but then you have to let it connect at least three times or it won’t actually be connected. AdsThe app overall works well, but $6 to remove ads? Seems a bit ridiculous. My remote stopped working so until I got a new one I used the app. The app definitely made me go to the store sooner than later as I thought $6 to remove ads was quite outrageous. It wouldn’t be a problem if there wasn’t an add that popped up after every 5-10 taps of a button. Trying to search anything or even just turn up the volume is a multi-minute project because of the ads which typically are videos that last up to 10 seconds. Absurd that u have to pay and limits the amount of downloadsThis app works great but it’s absurd after paying hundreds of dollars for a tv I have to pay for the remote. I have multiple TVs 4 to be exact and I can’t use the remotes that came with the TVs because they work all 4 TVs at the same time. Did not work for meI wanted an alternative to my tv remote so I downloaded. Upon set-up, I learned that both my phone and my tv had to be set up to the same network. That’s not a problem. Works with a lot of effortSure it pairs easily to the tv. Sure it works when it’s paired. After pushing 4-5 buttons in a row, and yes that includes hitting the volume button 4+ times or the channel button 4+ times then you get an ad.
