Featuring stunning art by Jaume Illustration, a half-million word script by Meg Jayanth, original music by Laurence Chapman, and built using the same ink engine that powers our critically-acclaimed Sorcery! series, 80 DAYS is an interactive adventure created by your choices, on the fly, and is different every time you play.

Playing as Phileas Fogg's loyal valet, Passepartout, you must balance your master's health, your finances, and the time, as you choose your own path from city to city all the way around the world. Bribe your way onto early departures, but don't let yourself go bankrupt or you'll be sleeping rough and begging for aid! Trade items for profit, and collect the equipment for the conditions you'll face: but too much luggage will slow you down...

80 DAYS is a breakneck race, with an in-game clock that never stops running. Trains, steamers, hot-air balloons, boats, camels, horses and more leave and arrive minute by minute.

Every city and journey is narrated via an interactive story where you control every action. Will your choices speed you up - or lead you into disaster? Will you earn Fogg's trust and respect? Will you uncover the secrets and short-cuts that can shave days off your time? Murder, romance, rebellion and intrigue await!

The app is networked, with a feed that shows you the position of all the other players of the game, their routes, triumphs and disasters. You can race to be the fastest - or look ahead to learn the secrets of the world.

Share your own journey with friends, and load other's routes directly into your app so you can race head-to-head.

80 DAYS is a complete experience, with no in-app purchases, and was made by a core team of just four people. If you enjoy it, please leave a rating, and check out our Sorcery! series.

Amazing game, Great potential.

I am a video game tester and in my free time I like to test out mobile games. I have been so addicted to this game for a long time, after a while it does get boring. But this game is still great, if you are looking to read something and have an interactive adventure at the same time, this game is perfect for you. This game might even be educational on some levels. If you want an action packed thriller of an adventure, the money this costs will not go to waste. The reason I am leaving a four star and not a five is because at times the game can get annoying, and that can make it fun. It was all realistic just like the movie until, I got lost on ice and kidnapped by mermaids and I lost the game because of that. Overall the game is spectacular, 4/5.

Truly excellent game

Do you have a long car or train or aeroplane ride in your future? Well then this is the perfect game for you! Not only can you take far more interesting and exciting methods of transport than in real life, you can read far more interesting and exciting things than happen in real life! But seriously, this is almost the perfect mobile game. Suitable for either long play sessions or just one leg of your journey during a lunch break, you can play it at your own pace, despite what the promotional materials may imply. The writing and dialogue are brilliant, and in turns both snappily funny and deeply touching. The art for all the different cities and vehicles is beautiful, and the planning aspect is surprisingly deep and complex if you choose to engage deeply, while still being easy to pick up for a more casual player or if you want to focus more on the masterful writing. Five dollars is a great price for this much value. My only complaint is that the Game Center integration where you can see your friends’ past routes as well as your own doesn't seem to work anymore, but I suppose that's inevitable after five years of not being updated. Still, I would strongly advise anyone considering a purchase to do it. If you like narrative games, books, or heck even strategy games, you’ll love this.

Perfect game

I downloaded this game on a whim, and immediately became an addict. The app is beautifully conceived, with a simple, elegant interface and ever-changing storylines. Its setting is in a firmly Victorian world, but with elements of steampunk which make the politics and the modes of transport highly varied and interesting. You play the role of Phineas Fogg’s faithful valet Passepartout, responsible for all route planning, travel arrangements and money handling, while keeping Fogg happy. You visit cities, towns, hamlets and settlements around the world, dealing with situations as they arise as you push forward, trying to get around the world alive, healthy, and solvent before the 80 days is up and Fogg’s famous wager is lost. Surprisingly, you also have the opportunity to shape your own personality and even find romance. The interface, the dialogue, and the background music (John Williams does Elgar) all combine to keep you immersed in this 19th century dream world. An experience not to be missed!

A charming gem

For the price of this app, I’ve gotten more than enough value for it. After such a long time, I’m still getting new experiences and surprises. You start with a meager suitcase and rush off to race around the world in 80 days. But the journey will be nothing that you expect. The game play is simple. It’s a choose your own adventure with some inventory management, time management, area exploration, and keeping Fogg alive and well. You can buy and sell curio items for profits. You can buy items to make the travel less strenuous. You can buy items that allow conversation during travel longer and more fruitful. Managing your inventory is a large part of a successful journey. For downsides, I wish the app had more documentation. You gain statuses like “steadfast” or “well mannered” but there’s no indication of how these affect gameplay. To me, they’re 100% useless as I have no idea of why I would want them or what it does. Maybe it opens new choices? Who knows. For upsides, the adventures are epic. But I enjoy the fact that you can find romance with a man or a woman, making it more LGBT friendly. Also, it seems that your character has African decent, and it certain areas race is taken seriously. These touches really made me happy. You won’t be disappointed if you buy this app. My suggestion is to take the strangest routes, try to always hit different cities, and have an adventure!

A densely packed narrative wonder

You want to know what happened on one of my attempts of this game? I decided I was going to attempt to cross the North Pole, thus cutting the time we’d take going across the world in half. We started our expedition aboard an icebreaker ship, and we had a jolly time. I even got to have tea and biscuits with a charming man in a scouting balloon. That is, until the engine exploded. Everything was gone. Our money, our supplies, everything. It was freezing, and we were forced to survive on scraps of frozen food. Fogg’s condition was deteriorating rapidly. I had to reach the North Pole base. If we could just do that, my master would be safe…But he wasn’t. He eventually couldn’t go further. I held him in my arms as he died, leaving the journal I was writing along the way with his body. And that’s how my trip to the North Pole went. A moment of pure literary genius I will never forget.

Great Journey

This is excellent fun, more really than a game. Very educational. You may want to hurry to get back under 80 days early on and that’s fine, but even if you go over it’s a blast to go through all sorts of adventures and scrapes. Just keep in mind you can start all over again when you return. Also, some southern routes I thought there was no way to make it back in time but I did and had all sorts of wild things happen along the way including shipwrecks and surviving a shooting! Still made it back on that one before 80 days. Last trip I didn’t make it back until Day 111 but it was the most fun ever, including the Nautilus and mermaids! Tip on North Pole if you want to survive, do everything, make friends with everyone or you won’t make it. So don’t be afraid to try new routes, meet new people, explore and have fun along the way. Endlessly playable. 5 stars.

Great Story-based RPG, Strategy, and Resource Management Game

Pros: - Easter eggs and plot twists galore - Factual landmarks (Was pleasantly surprised by the game's accurate depiction of faraway lands when I visited Istanbul and Marrakech for myself last year) make for great travel planning IRL - Thought-provoking dialogue and humanism, eerie dictatorships and the anarchy of revolution. I especially loved the piece on the untold stories of people that "progress" leaves behind. - Still can't tell if I love or hate the Artificers Guild, but the politics are intriguing and got to love the explosives - Making money from great sales - Bribery through costume to get some cheap tickets Cons: - Time passes too quickly to be able to effectively buy or sell before morning departures, forcing you to stay the night - Some options become less relevant later in the game, like socializing at the hotel - Starting items are pretty random - No bonus points for having your boss like you - If you want to "win" and take the most efficient route you miss out on cool stories :( - Hard to keep track of the politics and "quests" Protips: If you selected wrong on one of the text selections, close out of the app and relaunch to reset your choices for the current scene. Only works if you haven't finished the scene. Also, stay away from Muscat.

This is the best game I ever played, no lie

I first heard about this game from my cousin, this one and invisible inc, (which is good too). Once I started my first adventure, I could not put down the game for 2 hours, it was that intriguing. The graphics are very beautifully done and the storyline is very well thought through with solid characters. The fact that there are 100+ different routes definitely added the extra star, otherwise making it 4 of a way to short story. I love that Inkle can do multiplayer after you do pretty much all the story options (like I have) and It would be cool if Inkle could do updates to advance the story? THAT WOULD MAKE IT SOOO COOOLLLLLLLLLLL. And once you get bored of the story, to you gamers, I advise you create your own achievements for the game or try playing the character in different personalities. Great job Inkle, an astounding masterpiece.

Geek - windsurferVersion: 1.27
Great concept

Great concept. Need more of this multiple choice replay value in gaming. The writer made it a point to present women as positive heroines, and men as emasculated eunuchs, inept bafoons, or malicious psychopaths. One issue that needed a fix was you buy an item in Nice that sells for 2200 in Berlin. Berlin isn't where you want to go, but you go there for the totally different route and luckily figure out how to get there, doing this so you can get that huge shot of money necessary to help cross the ocean later. But then pirates steal your suitcase. Or you can throw it off the train to ward off the Pirates. Either way, you missed out on the route you wanted to take AND lost the 2200.

Frankie2toesVersion: 1.27
Fantastic, highly replayable game

Though I tend to play quite a large amount of games on my iPhone, I very rarely write reviews for them. However, this game is absolutely superb and well-deserving of one. I'm on my third play-through now, and definitely foresee myself going through it at least several more times. The different routes and stories available make it so that you get a wildly different story every time and I sincerely enjoy consciously taking new paths each time. Additionally, the writing is above par for an app of this nature. Very fun and refreshing game given the quality of what is typically on the App Store. Couldn't possibly recommend it more than I do. Enjoy, all.

Refreshing!

What a relief! I've finally come across an iOS game with a unique concept and refreshing gameplay! Usually I'm done with a game in a few days or a week, but I've been coming back to 80 days for quite a while now. If you love to read, are keen on adventures or are a geography geek like I am, this game will definitely suit you. It's all about having a feel for the journey, making good decisions, figuring out smart ways to travel, to trade and to maintain Monsieur Fogg's health. What I love about the game is that every time you play it it's different, there are so many cities, so many stories and so many routes to take! Don't hesitate to pick this up, for a couple bucks it's a steal!

SurrealSoulVersion: 1.25
A great find!

I usually don't take the few games I have loaded on my phone seriously, (only playing them on occasion) until now that I stumbled on to 80 days. Once you start playing, it's hard to stop. I've been totally disabled since 2008 and don't get out very much, so this has been a great way to pass the time. I never knew there were these types of games available. I wish I would have discovered the game sooner. I can't say enough good things about the game so I will simply say thank you inkel team. You're genius! I look forward to many adventures. I'm also looking forward to playing Sorcery sometime soon. Cheers!

NcleeVersion: 1.25
Wonderfully entertaining and replayable

The developers have created a detailed world where the Victorian age is mixed with a futuristic fantasy of incredible inventions. I know I will be playing this again to check out more routes, locations and characters. (Added: I don't know any other adventure type game as enjoyably replayable as this. After 7 completed trips, I'm still not even close to being done discovering all the richly described places, journeys, characters, fantastical inventions and adventures. It's a game created to be played again and again, since more possibilities appear on subsequent plays. This is an amazing game . )

MaewkaewVersion: 1.25
Glad I took a chance on this game!

I’m weary of games you have to pay for before you can even play. I wish iTunes allowed you to try games out for a short period of time before you decided to purchase. Which is why I’m always reluctant to play games you have to buy before you can even download them. This game sparked my interest and I took a chance on it and am so glad I did. I absolutely loved it! It’s unique, easy game play, makes you think and plan ahead, choose your own path/story - basically everything I love in a game! Download it - you won’t be disappointed!

McRizzaVersion: 1.25
Wish I could give it 5 stars.....

The game is fun. But, once you play it 1-2 times, you'll want new challenges. The app has Game Center achievements & challenges but no ability to SEE what you've earned or what is left to earn. That's really stupid. Makes re-play pointless. Also, the game should keep track of your statistics of past games played. Such as- most money earned, fastest trip, etc. Without these simple features, the game is really only good for one round. And for $4.99- one round of the game is expensive and not a good value since the graphics are simple, it's mostly a reading game and in-game functions are not well explained.

Autumndawn03Version: 1.25
Just Words? Still FUN!

I’m not sure why I thought this would be a glitzy, educational travelogue with a game theme, but I did . Then when I saw it was just a bunch of words, I was upset! But I decided to go ahead and play anyway. Turns out it is a blast! Your choices have immediate consequences and can keep you from achieving your objective- to get around the world in 80 days. My first trip ended after 48 days, the second took 94, and I’m on my third. It is a good game, but honestly not sure it is worth $5.

A TN FanVersion: 1.27
Fun, Adventurous game with great story.

I like how the game has you explore different areas, cultures, people, etc. I’ve learned a lot. It’s Not a game to play if you want to kill people action action action. It’s a chill, relaxed game if you want to take the time to read dialogue and explore. I wish it was a little bit more like the 80 days movie (2004) and you can take a woman with you. Would play it a lot more if it had a little more romantic gameplay because I mean come on, it’s around the world.. guys have fantasies too lol!

This is the best mobile game ever made.

I got this game just over 3 years ago, and since then I have had nothing but amazing experiences. It was fantastic the first time around, and I’ve jumped on every few months to do another one. This is the only game I have ever reviewed, and it deserves it. An expansive world, witty writing and fun gameplay all factor into a beautiful experience, with wonderful art and sound design. It is clear the devs put their heart and soul into this game. 10/10

MichedwaVersion: 1.27
LOVE it!

This is one of my favourite games ever. Not only is it delightful to play and beautifully written, but it’s pretty much a game that counts as a book. You can read it wherever or whenever you want, whether you’re in the mood to relax or be excited. The absence of ads, bugs, and glitches really helps absorb you into the story. I also love the idea of turning a book into a game, and I hope that the creators of 80 Days continues to make more beautiful book-inspired games like this one!

Seashells1234Version: 1.27
A perfectly designed game

This has one of the best stories I have ever read, and lasts many hours. The gameplay mechanics allow for a learning curve that allows you to get better as you play, unlike other story-based games. If you like reading or anything like that, you will love this game. P.S., Try not to spoil the storylines by looking up how to find them, it is still possible to find them on your own as the are sometimes referenced in the other storylines.

Mystery4000Version: 1.27
Fantastic game

This game is beautifully designed and executed. I have played it a few dozen times to try different routes, strategies, etc. and I'm still enjoying it. It has a well-crafted, seemingly endless generative narrative and an unusual design schema of steam punk and automata. One request to the developers- the sound is all ambient but can't be turned off in settings. I would like to play while listening to my own music please. Please add an option to turn off the sound.

KelWhitVersion: 1.25
Fun interactive fiction

80 Days is less of a game than interactive fiction. Readers of a certain age will recall Choose Your Own Adventure books. 80 Days is a modern version of this based on a steam-punk variation of the Jules Verne classic novel. The concept is simple, but the execution is delightful. The text is in short segments, which gives plenty of opportunity for the graphics and sounds to enhance the experience. Overall, a fun world to explore.

Occasionally DiscerningVersion: 1.27
One of my favorites

80 Days is one of or the most unique games I have owned, and it is extremely fun. The amount of choice and openness makes you feel as if you are actually in the story. You get to choose everything from when to depart, where to go, and even what to buy! The branching story really makes the game feel engaging and fun. This is a game that I am very happy with. It deserves 5 stars easily, and is worth the money.

HqhjfkickxjVersion: 1.25
Fun, if I could play

I downloaded this around an hour ago and it keeps crashing right at Paris. I go to the hotel and it crash and will not open again. I deleted, tried it on my iPhone and iPad, yet I can not get past Paris. I see it is a good game an I would like to play it, but I can not progress more than 5 minutes in.

Jilly3118Version: 1.26
An incredible game

This is just an amazing game. Maybe the best I've played on iOS. It's fresh, smart, and compelling. The production value is very high, and it's so atmospheric and evocative. It does an excellent job of communicating the excitement and adventure of a time when the world was just starting to open up to travel, but before the homogenization brought about by mass communication and affordable air travel. This game would be a bargain at twice the price.

AndyMo42Version: 1.25
I need more app game stories like this

Play this over and over again, included kids and family and friends while playing, and it’s one of our favorite games for several years still. The simple sophisticated graphics, the clever storylines and surprise twists made this game worthwhile. Hope to see more of this team’s work!

MelshomeVersion: 1.27
A great escape

Really enjoy this game and have so since I've had it. Tend to binge through 80 days +/- then try to try again via different route. Best to put it down after one run (two max.), then play again in a few months. Perhaps it could be "updated" with some new locations, characters and vehicles (semi-sequel-like)...to add adventures. It is hard to put down/put away. Love it!

Vi ZoVersion: 1.25
Just one suggestion

I really enjoy the game, going around the world seems like a fantastic adventure. At times I wish I was traveling with them using those fantastic traveling machines. My only suggestion would be to make the clock more accessible, many times I try to type it to make the time go faster but it would work at ransoms or not work at all.

MioCarusoVersion: 1.25
Jules Verne would be proud

I just finished playing this game through for probably the thirtieth time or so, and I have once again discovered new stories, new interactions, and a new route across the world. It is reading intensive, but I love the rich, detailed world that was created for this game, it keeps me interested in replaying so that I can learn something new about it. 10/10 will play again 🙃

RebelbookwormVersion: 1.25
Great game, many options gone to waste

It's a great game, love everything about it, completed the trip and won but I feel like many other interactions go unheard of due to the fact of the pressure in completing the trip. Would love to play a sandbox mode if you will where you can do as you please and travel and have fun continuously traveling the world.

JumpingGrasshopperVersion: 1.25
Interactive, Engaging, Uplifting (Great!)

This story-generating app is engaging, intellectually stimulating (because the story brings you to interesting world locations and decision situations, and the story adapts to your choices), and creative. The app is enjoyable and stimulating while being low-stress, allowing your mind to wander to new travel adventures. Definitely worth the purchase price 👍.

Best Interactive Strategy Game

Each time around the world differs. Choose your own path, buy and sell to get yourself and your master around the globe, but be sure to be a respectable valet. The only disappointment I have is that no other games can live up to this one. I've even purchased games by the same maker and they don't even come close.

NicQuinnVersion: 1.25
Amazing! Worth the money!

As someone who has read 80 Days Around the World about 80 times, I love this game! It develops the story just like in the book, no matter what route you take! Totally 100% recommend, but I must say it can get a bit boring after several play throughs.

NicknameSucks100Version: 1.27
Fantastic

More modern take on interactive fiction, lots of replay value and the lore is interesting. Only wish there was a mode that made ‘leisure travel’ easier, sometimes it is a bit lengthy speedrunning through the beginning to get to a particular voyage/city you want to see.

Such a trip

This game truly mesmerised me with it’s concept, writing and sound design. Playing for a few hours I emerged from the deckchair really feeling like I had _been_ places. I’ve eagerly checking the developer’s website for more news on further endeavours. Can’t wait to see what a team so talented can pull off next.

This is a beautifully produced visual novel with some fun trading and travel dynamics and a ton of replay value. A very fresh spin on steampunk / alternate history. Added bonus no connection required so good for flights w/out data. Can’t recommend highly enough.

Amazing! My favorite iOS game of all time.

I got 80 days a few years ago, and have been obsessively playing it since. The beautiful writing, combined with the awesome design, and everything else combines to create a extremely good game. The cost is worth it; I would spend much much more for it if I needed to.

The consistency with which Inkle continues to support this stellar app represents the gold standard of iOS development. This Game is amazing in anyway possible, the story is really mind blowing and with a deep suspense behind it, it takes quite some language skills to understand the words you will read, however, gameplay is just great. Get it now!

10/10 Must Have!!!

I saw this on sale in the featured section of the App Store. It was only $2 and looked fun, so I decided to get it. The game is similar to a choose your own adventure style. You start in London as a valet to Phileas Fogg and have to choose the areas you will go to in order to get around the world in 80 days while managing funds, Fogg's health, and other dilemmas that arise along the way. I will admit, I gave up numerous times😂😂 But finally, I did it in only 56 days!!! (almost killing Mr. Fogg in the process lol) Tl;dr - Get this game (especially if it's on sale.)

XoxlindsayVersion: 1.25
High playability

Love the steampunk take on a classic; it still has the old world charm with the intrigued of something new and innovative. Multiple branching means you can play this game over and over again and discover hidden quests and plot lines.

Hugely Engrossing

This game demands you make quick decisions from limited information and lets you use either your intelligence, wit or force and either progress or perish. In addition to finding the fastest route you also need to finance your travels by entering the markets and bazaars to buy goods cheaply in one city and sell them for profit in the next city. You can also use disguises and bribes to gather valuable information, escape danger and evade government officials. It's addicting and even if you don't win the first time, you'll want to play again and agin. Great artwork and immersion in the Victorian-imagined era of wild inventions, flying ships and automated machines. Good fun.

Love this game. So much content that replaying it is always fun. One wish: optimize graphics at the corners for rounded screens- for example Fogg’s health is hidden behind the curve

Beyond Amazing

This game , How to even begin. It is so engrossing. The sound, the story, the endless replay value. Truly a force to be reckoned with. Would love to see a sequel of some sort updated for newer devices, one of my favourites have had it on every phone since it came out.

LOVE the narrative choices

I’m completely addicted to these story ‘games”. First I tried RegencyLove and started looking for more. Got this and the Sorcery series, Imaginary… This one is unique and I found I had to consider different things at the same time. I didn’t look up a walk through until I’d spent about 6 hours on this. Can’t recommend this game more. I’m on my third play through and I’m loving it!

Highly recommendable

This game has a simple concept, travel around the world within 80 days. But it is so much more than that. It is a hectic race against time to get around the world. There are many different routes to take it and so much story behind it all. Can’t recommend this enough for the price it is.

Truly outstanding!

I first played this game when it came out. Since then I have re-installed it to play again every six months or so because the game is just that good! Endless hours of entertainment. Trying to win the 80 day wager is only the start. This game is incredibly rich in substance and I can’t recommend it enough.

I always come back to this game.

I bought this game about two years ago and it’s still the best game I’ve ever played on the iPhone. The writing really brings you into a really interesting steampunk world and you’re always on a new adventure every time you play it. I pick this game back up every few months and I’m always surprised to find a new story because of how small things like one new city, your relationship with Mr. Fogg, and even just the things in your bag will change your travels. I mainly wanted to write this to thank the developers - I’ve passed time on numerous flights and car trips with this game without feeling time pass by.

Awesome, great story, great replay ability.

For those that don't know, I'm fairly certain this is made from an old book called "around the world in 80 days" that had these exact characters and I love the way they turned it into a game. The story is great and there is so many different routes I've done three play throughs. Definitely recommend this app!

Excellent Game

Compared to other games available in the App Store, this game stands its own. A diamond in the rough, it's an original game with quite a lot of enjoyable qualities that gives plenty of game time. While there is plenty of reading involved, if you've enjoyed Jules Verne's works such as 80 days around the world, you should be able to bear all the text at the very least. I'd recommend this game to anyone who likes a good story, but it's highly recommended to those who've read and enjoyed reading Verne's novels.

FANTASTIC GAME

I have been enjoying this game immensely. I love the steam punk storyline and the ability to replay the game over and over again. I've only discovered one minor problem so far in the storyline. Why would the German king name his new railway the Reich (German for Republic) Railway? One suggestion would be to let users have control of the audio source and volume. My best time so far is 54 days.

Took a while to warm up to, but very innovative

I must admit, it took about 40 days in my first play-through before I warmed up to this game. My disappointment was because I was expecting an interactive fiction game, but this is really a resource management game. But the innovative gameplay really grew on me over time. This is a fantastic game and you'll get a lot of enjoyment out of it. Gameplay: The ultimate goal is to make it back to London by day 80. You have to manage several variables/resources: Fogg's health, money, time, discovering transportation routes, and your relationship with Fogg. Of course, trying to increase one variable may cost you others (for example, selling an item in Cairo may earn you a lot of money, but you'll have to take the extra time to plot a path to Cairo). And you'll get opportunities where you can only increase one variable (for example, sometimes when you stay at a hotel, you can choose to attend to Fogg, do extra work to earn funds, or socialize and learn more transportation routes). Further, there are mini-stories in most cities and on some transportation routes. Some stories are small and have no impact on your overall journey, some stories give you a "side quest" that you have to go to another city to fulfill, and some will completely mess with your journey by taking you to a different destination than the city you intended. As examples: I got teleported from the middle east to Africa; kidnapped by a submarine captain; led a mutiny; crashed in an airship and almost died; and discovered a floating city. Visuals and UI: the visuals are gorgeous. They're quite simple--just pictures that move around a little, not even real animations, but the game does it so well that it never felt boring. Every city looks a bit different, and there are probably ~20 methods of transport all with their own pictures. My only complaint is the map--although it's pretty, it's also quite clunky to use. I wish there was a flat map option, and an option to turn off other players' progress markers, since those also clutter up the UI. Sounds and music: the sound effects are varied and really help the game come alive. Every method of transport has its own sound effects, and cities in different regions have their own music/sound effects. It didn't bug me that I couldn't play my own music, because the sounds felt like part of the experience. Story: the weakest link for me. There's no overarching story beyond the fact that you have to return to London in 80 days. Mini-stories in cities rarely carried forward after you'd left the city, although there were a few instances where the game remembered my past actions. For example, in one play-through, a chinese mechanic taught me some mandarin, and later on, I had the option to speak some mandarin to chinese workers; in another play through where I didn't learn mandarin, I didn't have that option. However, this example is a rare instance--most of the time your past choices don't matter once you've left the city and its mini-story. Further, I found most of the mini-stories bland. The ones I listed above under "gameplay" were the best examples--most of the time, it was just something simple like meeting a gondolier who doesn't like machines, sheltering a rebel who gives you a flag, etc. (As an aside, I did like that I could smooch a lady in one story and flirt with a gentleman in another) Characters: unfortunately, most characters in this game are just your drivers/pilots, who you can talk to to discover more transportation routes. These aren't real characters, just a clever mechanism to uncover routes. Other characters appear in mini-stories, but only appear in the mini-story and are never heard from again. I found the main characters, Passepartout (you) and Fogg quite interesting though! You can dictate Passepartout's personality through your decisions, though that doesn't seem to have any effect on gameplay. Fogg took me a while to warm up to, especially when he told me he doesn't like socializing with servants. But once you get past that stern English demeanor, he really grows on you. My favorite moment was when he told me I could call him Phileas since we were both dying. Hah! Battery usage: this app is a huge battery drain! It burns through 100% battery in an hour. I have a crotchety 4S, but I've never had problems with my battery. As a comparison, I can play interactive fiction games like Choice of Games and Tin Man Games without much impact on battery, and browse safari or listen to music for hours.

Great game and more than worth the price. Immersive stories that alter your decisions. Amazing writing.

80 Days Negative Reviews and Ratings

The writers missed the point…

This is definitely a beautifully designed game. That’s not an issue at all. The problem is in the choices that are given. In a choose your own adventure story, I should be responsible for making choices from situations that are presented to me, not for helping to develop the details of the story that’s going on around me. For example, this story would provide a situation in which you meet a girl on the train, and then you have to choose between whether she has a bored expression on her face, or is smirking at something (That’s not verbatim, I’m just making up an example). But that’s not a detail that should be left up to me - how am I to know what a character looks like? A good choose your own adventure story would provide me with the details, then give me the option of whether or not I want to approach this person, or how I want to approach them. There also needs to be some real consequences to bad choices. I haven’t had a situation yet where I’ve been killed or significantly set back because of a wrong choice. I’ve literally just clicked random options, and still done rather well. There’s a good idea here for sure, and the design and gameplay is beautifully done. The story line and options just needs to be improved

Wish I could rate higher

Finally a game that is not about blowing up my adversaries. A game that is not mindless tapping. I wish I could give it five stars. If you play it more than twice (and I doubt many will win the first 2 times) you'll understand why. Each time the game is restarted there is the drawn out intro screen graphics with a "Where in the World is Carmen San Diego" feel. The every choice leads to a text filled screen and more waiting. The first time is ok. The second, not so bad. But when you can repeat the script before it appears just to get to the place in the game where you want to take a different direction than previous efforts it's just too boring.

Wonderful game. If I was able to leave Paris

It really disappoints me to make this review as I was looking forward to playing the game based on Jules Verne’s novel but the game simply will not allow me to depart the city of Paris(After experimenting a few more times I discovered that the game will crash at the end of day 2)without crashing and exiting to the home screen. I have tried deleting and redownloading the app but nothing has provided any fix to the problem. This really seems like a great game that I would enjoy putting hours into but one glitch is ruining my experience. I would also like to make note that I am playing this on a new iPhone X.

Jess AndersonVersion: 1.26
Decent play -- Horrible UI

This is an ok game marred by a ***horrible*** UI. It doesn't clearly confirm buying tickets, so you don't know if you have only planned a trip, purchased a ticket, or just negotiated the price down but haven't bought a ticket yet. If you try to embark thinking you have a ticket when you don't, it throws you into planning loops you can't get out of. Meanwhile, time ticks on and trips vanish as you try to figure out the stupid interface. And, since you can't save a game, you have to start ***all over*** from the very start if you screw up. Frustrating, inept UI design by someone more in love with minimalism than functionality. Don't waste your money on this game.

I love this game but

This game has so much replay value and I’ve owned it for years. Once in a while when I want to have another adventure I’ll spend a few hours being lost in the beautiful visual novel world. I’m only rating it 3 stars because sadly the sound is no longer working despite reinstalling the app. There’s no way to contact the developers about this either, and the sound is a big part of the magic of the game.

FermiquestionsVersion: 1.27
Not worth the hype.

I feel like it should be amazing, and it starts VERY good, but i don’t know ... it just isn’t worth money, I think if this was $1.99 maybe I would rate it 4+ stars but I gotta compare it to other games from this price point and sadly it falls short, I played it, for bored and tired of reading the story after day 50. Wouldn’t play this again as 80 days is WAY to short of a play through maybe if it was a different game mode or something.

No sound options? Can't use it.

I'm sure I would enjoy your game and the 5 minutes I tried it were good enough, but I hate that I paid for this game that does something so violently anti-consumer by not letting you play your own music or indeed giving you any control over sound. This feels like a perfect commute game, but I am forced to listen to the empty background sounds of the game instead of my music library? I'm sorry I spent a cent on this. I'm amazed any competent developer launched a product with such a glaring fault. Literally nothing else about the game matters when such a basic option is missing.

No audio control

Very innovative game that's a lot of fun. That said, you'd think that this is a perfect game for listening to your own music while playing. I hate when apps enforce their own music and actually all sound in this case. I only play this game by lowering phone volume a lot or muting completely. Please give some audio control to your players. Fix this and easily 5star game.
