The House of Da Vinci App Comments & Reviews

The House of Da Vinci Positive Reviews

Similar to the Room SeriesFinished all of the Room Series Games and looked for something somewhat as immersive as those. Additionally, I am fascinated with Leonardo Da Vinci and what devoted from his inventions/theories. I was not disappointed. The House of Da Vinci developers gave me decent challenges with the puzzles, I looked forward to the next Chapter to continue the journey through Da Vinci’s designs. The only slightly negative critique is the darkness of the environment. While I understand the game’s developers took me through the rubble of destroyed rooms, they could add the need to light an area with torches or candles, etc. This issue is not enough for me to downgrade the game’s rating; however, some may find this irritating when searching the rooms for the subtle nuances required for puzzle-solving. Finally, even though I solved the final puzzle in the last chapter, I thought ending was somewhat anti-climatic and left me wondering if this was truly an ending or a novel method from the developers to arc into future Da Vinci games. (I will not elaborate, since doing so would become a potential spoiler and possibly stop others from purchasing this game...not positive if others share this point of view. Hopefully, this ending arcs to additional games!).Version: 1.0.8

An inferior version of the roomIt’s pretty good, the graphics are great and the game is challenging. They basically copied “the room” game mechanics, along with the eye piece, puzzle style and hint system. Although it’s a quality game, playing it came with some frustration. In many instances the objects you can interact with are not responsive enough and will only move/slide if you do it precisely from the angle they intended it to move. Some of the puzzles made very little sense to me and were not fun to solve. Also, I found the hint system to be pretty bad. It would often give you clues for thing that you’re already a head of, like you’re trying to solve some puzzle and the hint would say “have you noticed this puzzle?”. Sometimes the hint would say “maybe I should use this item in my inventory but where?” Not helpful. Also the hints would try to forward you to a certain location with an obscure description of it. For example, it would say “there was a protrusion near the golden decoration that might be movable” and I’m googling protrusion and can’t find any golden decoration on the screen. Lastly, the eye piece only works if you look at the exact spot, meaning you can’t just scan the room with it. To sum up, if you haven’t played the room games, buy them! They are the original and much superior. If you have played them and looking for a similar game, this would do..Version: 1.0.8

Good game! Very unoriginal. The House of Da Vinci is a very well done game, with only minor control issues every now and then. I managed to get through it in about four hours and I was impressed about just how tight it felt. The problem comes in the lack of originality. Now, I've been a fan of The Room series from the beginning, and this game is the most blatant copy I've ever seen. The Oculi that you receive in the first chapter are clearly direct rip offs of the Eye piece from all three room games. The first of the two Oculi even allows you to see inside and manipulate machinery, which is almost exactly what the upgraded eyepiece in the room does along with letting you see things invisible to the naked eye, which is also something the first oculi does. Although the second Oculi is more original, and I did quite like the time travel theme, I wish it had been used more often. Several times throughout the game I have seen many objects that look almost identical to ones in The Room, especially in the Crypt when you get a particular key that bears a striking resemblance to the Craftsman's Key from the third room game. Now, this isn't to say I didn't enjoy this game, in fact, I quite like it. I would love to see a sequel, but I would advise a little bit more originality. Maybe ditch the first Oculi or make modifications. Overall, I do recommend this game..Version: 1.0.1

I'd give 5 stars, but...As a fan of puzzle games/escape rooms, I really really like this game. Nice graphics, interesting story and fun puzzles kept me very entertained. The problem was with the oculi (hope I spelled that right) when it wanted to work everything was all good, but when it didn't I would wonder around questioning if I did something wrong, of course I was doing it right, but it was glitched and then I'd have to go to the net to see what I needed to do, because no matter how many times I'd refresh the chapter it still didn't work. I see that I'm not the only one with this problem and I'm playing on an iPad mini. Developers please fix your glitches!!! I'd give a 5/5 if you fixed. :D UPDATE: I am changing my review because I was not using the oculi correctly. I am leaving my previous comments above incase this happens to anyone else. I was not aware that the oculi had two functions (well I did, but didn't understand the true mechanics) I thought it was a one button does all, not realizing you need to swipe down for the memory and up for the hidden clues. Now that all my frustrations are gone, I can 100% give this game a 5/5!!.Version: 1.0.5

Good, complex.First let me just say that this game should not be compared to The Room. The only similarities are that there are puzzles to solve, a storyline and lenses that reveal hidden aspects of certain puzzles. That is all. Maybe the graphics, but I digress. Any comparison to the game should be seen as complimentary seeing as they are on par with one another in terms of enjoyment. The House of Da Vinci is a beautiful game. Great music. Models of Da Vinci's original inventions imagined as puzzles. Lots of fun and mystery. The only issue I have with it is the complexity of each chapter. Things will be going smoothly one moment, then the next you're hit with a puzzle so complex that you start considering having to Google the answer. Then, there is a puzzle in the room that you thought you had completely figured out and therefore had discarded it from your mind, then, three or four puzzles later, you are required to return to it. This can become annoying because there's nothing at all obvious about it and you have to resort to using hints to tell you to go back and take a fifth or sixth look or literally tapping on every single object in the area. While these issues are fairly annoying, the game as a whole is quite fun. Highly recommended. 4 out 5..Version: 1.0.1

BeautifulI loved this game. I finished it in 6 game hours, though it was probably less as I fell asleep playing it more than once (not from boredom, but because it kept me up playing long after I should have gone to bed)! The game was challenging but doable, and I loved the fact that you can walk around whole rooms an areas; the play space felt all around bigger than those in The Room series. I did have one small glitch- in the last area, I found a miniature flying device that I was supposed to stick into a camera like machine, except it wouldn’t go. The game thought it did, though it stayed in my inventory. Because of this I could not figure out which symbols went with which tube, so I had to literally go through every combination. Luckily there were only 3 choices for 3 slots, so there weren’t many combinations, but it kind of took the fun out of figuring it out. Besides that it was a fantastic game, stunningly beautiful graphics, and just all around a great time spent. Ive been looking for a game to pull me in with the challenge and beauty of the Room, and this definitely didn’t disappoint!.Version: 1.0.2

It’s not bad but not close to the room seriesSo I went in enjoying the graphics and the interestingness of the story. I honestly think most of the reviews above 4 are those who haven’t played the room series. I have a 4 because I want to be fair playing the room first. It’s doesn’t match up though. The room has a natural progression you can solve without the clues if you think and analyze, which this doesn’t have. You have to muddle around with no natural progression to additional events and activities. The coloring doesn’t allow your eye to catch the clues investigate…it’s hard to differentiate anything and therefore you spend a lot of time wasted searching in vain. The clues once given aren’t intuitive, you literally don’t see the connection until the last clue very often. It is NOT a bad game at all but it is 100% a level below the room series. It will take a lot to get me to pay for the second in the series knowing I will be frustrated and lost unnecessarily. I played the room and enjoy the struggle trying not to use the clues and use my brain. It’s just not possible to get through this game without them and that’s disappointing..Version: 1.1.0

Astoundingly Beautiful Game! Review update below...Puzzling at its best! Reminiscent of the all time great The Room but has a different flare and artistry. I love a challenge and The House of DaVinci does not disappoint! I'm now 30 minutes minutes into the game and am highly entertained and engrossed completely. The graphics are excellent and gameplay is smooth and responsive. The music is absolutely perfect as it's sets an appropriate mood throughout. The puzzles are thought provoking and while indeed challenging, are not impossible. The gaming, artistry and challenging puzzles make The House of DaVinci more than worth the $5 cost. I'll be gifting several copies of this game in order to support the very capable developers. Great job and thank you developers! I contacted BlueBrain Games Customer Service after getting stuck in game. Had a problem with the octahedron puzzle which turned out to be on my end. I cannot say enough about the fantastic customer service from BlueBrain Games. They were quick to respond and very helpful. This is a company that will go far. Very impressed!.Version: 1.0.1

A decent room knockoffAs a huge fan of the room series and their take on the "escape the room genre" I'm constantly on the lookout for similar games that can hold me over until the next room game is finally released. While this game isn't as polished it's a worthy knockoff. Every now and then some actions like turning a crank or pulling open a drawer will get bogged down or laggy. It doesn't happen too much and most occurrences can easily be fixed by zooming out and then in on the object. Although there have been a couple of instances where I didn't know what to do next because the object I needed to move, turn, or whatever didn't respond to my command and I'd end up wasting time thinking the object I needed was somewhere else. That can be frustrating but with it being few and far between I still give this game a solid four stars. There's a story and some lore for people that like that otherwise it's just you stuck in one giant room after the next. No backtracking. No need to speak with other characters to get useful intel. Just a bunch of interwoven puzzles that have so far proven to be both clever and challenging while still being fun.Version: 1.0.1

Best game EVER, if you like challenge/puzzle games!Simply stunning, amazing, thrilling, immersive, captivating, and off the charts great. It’s the first game I’ve had a hard time putting it down even when I should be getting to sleep or taking care of something else. I was actual a bit sad to reach the end, I wanted it to keep going and going with more rooms, puzzles, etc. The game starts just a tad bit slow but once you get past the first room you’ll be hooked by what comes next. It gets better and better as you go through the game. The puzzles are fantastic and everything is extremely well thought out and planned to perfection. You folks have to make several sequels. My congratulations to you for a job extremely very well done. You have certainly raised the bar for what other developers must now attempt to achieve and offer. You are at the top of your game, keep raising the bar and offering more games like this. The entertainment value is certain a 10 and it deserves more than 5 stars..Version: 1.0.8

Fun but a bit frustratingI very much enjoyed playing this game but I do have a couple complaints. The first is that the oculi only worked about 80% of the time. I kept coming to points where I was stuck and begrudgingly used a hint. The hint would point me towards using the oculi on a specific item, but it wouldn't work. I'd have to keep clicking the oculi on and off and by the 9th or 10th time, it would finally reveal what I should have been able to see all along. That wasted tons of time and was very frustrating. Another complaint I have is that is was very difficult to turn some of the cranks and wheels. This was particularly frustrating when trying to solve trial and error puzzles where the cranks had to be turned over and over and over again. My last complaint is that I really would have liked to be able to explore objects more freely. Movements and perspectives are very restricted. For instance, there was a chest in the upper level of the time machine level. I was only able to look at the front and it was annoying to not be able to explore the sides and the top, even if it's wasn't integral to solving anything..Version: 1.0.6

Just like The RoomSo, this game is JUST LIKE the room. Ok, so it is not original, but it is very well produced. The Room is the real thing, but this is just as good. Same programmers???? Im not sure about the ethics about this, but with that said, I certainly enjoy playing it. If this game was called Room 4, I would be satisfied, and that is a COMPLIMENT, as I consider the Room series to be the best iPad games out there. Note to developer: Great work, but maybe go with an original theme next time? airplane, submarine, Romans, aliens, Disneyland? You certainly have the design and programming skills, but maybe you need some help in the creativity dept. But to potential purchasers, if you like the Room, you will like this also. A very slick game indeed. And one thing. I first gave this game a poor rating because of the oculi bug. Except i am now not sure it is a bug. You have to push the ocluli for maybe 2 seconds "sometimes". Once you figure that out, no more bugs. I guess it could be by design, but I doubt it..Version: 1.0.1

A Promising Start to a New SeriesEvery review is going to mention the Room series, and it's accurate. This is very much inspired by them, and it does a decent job satisfying those cravings. Most of the puzzles are clever and interesting, though some lose their logical through-line in the later parts. It doesn't feel as satisfying to solve them when the solutions are random. There was one puzzle I needed help with -- a color puzzle, where the rotating discs were indistinguishable for somebody with colorblindness like me. It would have been nice if the textures or color direction were more distinct. I took for granted how well The Room handled its touch controls until I played this. It's frustrating to try to pull a lever and instead toss the camera wildly every few swipes. The game doesn't put too much pressure on fast or precise control, so it's not a deal-breaker, but a little annoying. The game is a lot of fun, even with its shortcomings. It's a good first entry in what I hope is an on-going series of these puzzle games. It's not The Room, but it's no slouch either..Version: 1.0.1

Great, harder than the RoomI have been wondering for the longest time why there weren't MORE clones of a franchise as great as "the Room." Finally, someone has filled that wide-open hole on the app store. As a Room game every couple years isn't nearly enough. And this team does it very, very well. Just as pretty as the Room... perhaps puzzles aren't quiiite as elegant, but they're easily more challenging. I can complete room games with few to no hints... I find it impossible here. But, the hints are there if/when you need them. Every great game we play today was inspired by those that came before it. I'm truly shocked about how much flack these devs are getting for what nearly all devs do... take something that worked, tweak it and add your own touch. I understand rolling your eyes at the 5000th coc knockoff, but this is a whole genre that has been the exclusive domain of 1 dev for years. IMO, it desperately needed some clones. My favorite Room was Room 1, when it was more like "the Box" than "the Room." Somehow it's easier spatially on my mind when you're mostly orbiting around a single, complex mechanism... rather than fiddling with 6, 8, 10 separate items that you constantly have to walk between. This game is probably most like the Room 2 in that regard... lots of different items across different rooms, but not as sprawling as room3 and it's huge hub world. Top notch, high quality product that Room fans owe it to themselves to get..Version: 1.0.1

Finally - A True Classic - Better Than the classic Mysts, etcI've longed for the old classics that really had a good subtle story line, superb graphics, and most of all the challenges that were both appropriate to the story and challenging without being overly obtuse. THIS ONE DOES IT ALL AND MORE. The variety of puzzles and challenges is wonderful - and they fit perfectly with the theme and the graphics - and they aren't just a repetition of earlier ones that so many of the other games default to. The hints are well timed and not too obvious for those certain times when the solution just doesn't want to reveal itself. There were several times I felt the end of the game was around the corner only to find, with great joy, that the game was still afoot. This is a level above The Room games, which are a five star offering themselves. Please, please, please - send more of these our way. Thank you for raising the bar back to a most enjoyable height..Version: 1.0.1

Fun, but sometimes infuriatingObviously inspired by the Room series, this is a fun game and for the most part a worthy successor. However, I have four specific complaints about things that make it much less enjoyable and immersive than the Room games. 1. The controls are far less intuitive and more frustrating. Often, when I am trying to turn something, it ends up turning the opposite way. Several times, if I don’t hit the screen just right, I can’t move a piece that looks like it should move (and in fact does), but accidentally move the entire screen instead. Then, I don’t think the piece moves, and I get stuck waiting for the hint that tells me that in fact it does. 2. Can’t zoom in close enough. When something changes or opens up, half the time I can’t see it clearly enough to figure out whether there is something to manipulate. 3. Similarly, please allow zooming in on all pieces, even if they’re not ready to be used yet. It seems like some things open but aren’t “released” for me to look at more closely until they’re ready later. But that’s frustrating. Oftentimes, something changes or opens, but because I can’t see clearly enough to know what happened, I have no clue as to what to do next or why the change matters. Please allow zooming in on new pieces or changed items, even if there is nothing specifically to manipulate on them. These things would I think make this game a lot more enjoyable and less frustrating! Thank you!.Version: 1.1.0

Top-notch play for the most partThis actually deserves 4.5 stars — absolutely beautiful imagery, a little too dark to discern on an iPhone at times, even with brightness turned way up but amazingly beautiful in the evening hours. The sound effects are really what make this game special for me… The Room had it too! All the clandestine clicks and clacks make my heart’s ears...I mean...ears’ heart pitter-pat. Challenging puzzles, some so much so I had to search the walkthroughs but still most were easy enough to enjoy. My main complaint and reason for the downgrade is the inability to switch between devices. Why?! Doesn’t make sense that one can’t enjoy on an iPad by day and then work a bit on it as they go to bed. Lol maybe this is normal for some games but I have played a few where both worked as if connected to apples Game Center or whatever. But major props! Would totally buy another one like this! Would love a Jack The Ripper or some time of killer/evidence investigation thing—not like the hidden object games tho..Version: 1.0.6

Fun But Definitely Inspired by The Room GamesIf you enjoy puzzle games, then you will like House of DaVinci. However, it's very obvious that the game is heavily inspired by and in many was similar to The Room games. Since I like The Room games very much, I also like House of DaVinci. The graphics are great and, if you get stuck, the hints are helpful. I would warn though that playing it on a smaller iPhone screen (as I am) can strain the eyes. Overall, it's an enjoyable, challenging game - especially if you're fans of The Room and similar puzzle games. On a side note - another reviewer mentioned how helpful it would be if there was a way to adjust the brightness in the game and I wholeheartedly agree. Some switches are VERY hard to see, especially playing on my iPhone. If you have the option, play on an iPad instead. Still, I plan to keep an eye out for more games from this developer..Version: 1.0.1

Nice TitleI've been waiting for the Room IV for awhile now and DaVinci fills in pretty nicely. The graphics and story line are not quite the caliber of the Room series, but still engaging. I enjoy this style of game, and would play at least one more from this company. If I have any criticism it would be this: Too many keys, not enough other. One day I hope to see Obduction for IOS. Might happen, though probably too large a file for most cell phones. The two best games I've played on a phone are Myst and Riven. I Hope that helps you decide. Update: Played DaVinci first on an iphone6, then an ipad7 with headphones. Noticeable positive difference. The quality artwork comes alive with screen size. The stereo audio does some interesting things without being distracting. Second play through has been more fun than the first, mainly because of the larger screen. In particular I like the several small furry creatures gathered together in a cave grooving with a pict..Version: 1.0.1

Not as good as “the room”This game is really good so far- I haven’t been playing too long... but it’s just not as good as “The Room”. Those games the controls are much better, the over graphics.... for example. If you’re “investigating” something in the room, it’s MUCH easier to move things around, turn keys, pull a drawer, slide a secret item, move something that isn’t obvious etc. This game it takes me SEVERAL tries on the same items, (like sliding a secret moving piece) before it actually moves... so you kinda have to tap tap around the screen. With the room saga, it’s SO MUCH EASIER to navigate, pushing, pulling, turning, moving items like you’re really there. These games are fun because they’re hard, the items aren’t obvious... but if they aren’t obvious and aren’t responding to us trying to move them, it gets so frustrating using hint after hint for them to tell you the item you’ve been TRYING to move, moves. Could just be my download? Not sure. I hope it gets fixed!!!.Version: 1.0.8

Beautiful and engagingThis game is gorgeous and enthralling. The puzzle mechanics have some rough spots, though. First, the puzzles are inconsistent: the player sometimes needs to carry an unreasonably large object, even though it’s usually something tiny. Other times, some puzzles have very coarse mechanics, so that tapping them is all that’s needed, while others require you to swipe at a very precise angle. It would help a lot if the objects had consistent rules for interaction, too, so that actions like “opening” or “unlatching” could be actuated by the same swipe input patterns everywhere — most objects are fine, but one or two have glitches that end up really glaringly obvious. Second, the clues don’t always help. They are often ambiguous, and might refer to several different things. (Pretty much everything is a “medallion,” apparently.) There were times I was stuck to the point of frustration, simply because the clues were ambiguous, and left me looking in the wrong place. These problems left me feeling more frustrated than challenged at many points. There are some good puzzles for sure, but better consistency across all the puzzles would help. Criticism aside, I was absolutely enthralled by this game, playing nearly straight through. The graphics are beautiful, and drew me in every step of the way. I’m definitely looking forward to more from this publisher!.Version: 1.0.7

THE MOST AMAZING experience EVER! Even better than The Room series!!I read one review mention The Room & equate this game to it, and I didn’t need to hear more. I immediately bought & downloaded this game, and I was ecstatic right away! It’s very much like the room, with the SUPERIOR graphics, sounds, atmosphere, and puzzles. I dare say that I even liked this better than The Room for several reasons. There are a lot more “rooms” to work thru, he puzzles are a tad easier to figure out without relying on the hints all the time, and the length is superb! It took me over 8 hours to complete the game, which feels just right to me. (Well, I’d prefer to play forever. But, if it MUST end, I guess 8 hours is fair.) Games like these are what I had hoped for when I bought my first iPad. BRAVO! Really well done, Blue Brain squad. :) Please make hundreds more of these, and I promise to buy them all!.Version: 1.0.3

DisappointingIf you are familiar with the original “Room” series, half way through playing this game you will realize why that series is still considered the leader in this category. The one thing that sets The Room apart is how it elicits a WOW response in the player. There are so many times when solving a puzzle and watching an amazing result brings on an almost giddy feeling that is, for lack of a better word, delightful. Too many times in this game I felt that it had become a drudgery and solving a particular puzzle was a relief and not a delight. Several chapters dragged on and on and took way too long to complete, leading to more of the feeling of drudgery. Add to this the quirkiness of some of the puzzles that leave you completely confused about what is to be accomplished, and the needless requirement for high positional accuracy in others, and it leads to less than warm fuzzies for the game. The “ending” of the game comes as a complete surprise, as it just suddenly stops after completing one of the puzzles. It’s like the developers did not know where to stop so they just threw in an epilogue and called it good. It really made no sense and felt incomplete. If you’ve never played the Room series, you will probably like this game quite a bit, as it is challenging. But if you’ve come to this game through playing the Room series, you may very likely feel the way I did when complete. Disappointed..Version: 1.0.8

Wonderful fun, and beautiful to boot!A worthy successor to great puzzle games like Myst, The 7th Guest, and The Room. Loved exploring the beautiful scenes and figuring out what to do next. Also a good length -- took me about 8 hours over a few nights to complete. One minor thing I didn't care for was that the hint system doesn't track what you've already done, it just gives you the next hint in the series for that puzzle. So maybe you've already found a piece, but the next hint you get tells you where to find the piece you just found, rather than skipping that one and giving you a hint for what you actually need to do next. Eventually you'll get the hint you need, but you may have to wait a while to get the one you actually need. That said, it was a very minor flaw that didn't hinder game play. Can't wait to see what's next!.Version: 1.0.1

Beautiful and EngagingWhile a little too early to determine how linear it may or may not be, the lavish attention to detail and the complexity of the puzzles make for a tantalizing experience. I am only a little disappointed at the number of times I have been forced to use the assist. The eyes in the bust, for instance, are not so easily seen to be like buttons. I also think that one or two more "combining" exercises (putting together discovered items) would have better established the means of actually performing the task – it is simple enough to recognize the need, but the process is easily lost amid distractions while looking for ways to use the items without thinking to combine them. THAT SAID – I purchased this game because I enjoy such gorgeous exercises. "The Room" trilogy set the benchmark, and—while whether it meets or surpasses the mark remains to be seen—"House of DaVinci" is (so far) giving a very good show..Version: 1.0.1

Becomes Glitchy (for me) after completing the LibraryI don't often write reviews, but I'm hoping to get some help. First of all, this seems like a great game (what little I've been able to play so far), enough so that I purchased the full version and played through the library again. However, since I passed the library and entered the lab (?), the game crashes so much I can't accomplish anything. I use an older iPad 3, but generally do not have problems with game play. I re-uploaded the app and again was able to play through the library, but upon moving on to the next room immediately started having the same issue as before. Game play to this point seems flawless. But I can barely do anything at this point and am booted from the game every few seconds. Any advice would be greatly appreciated..Version: 1.0.8

It's The Room: 4If you are a super-fan of The Room series of games like I am, get this immediately. This game is so incredibly similar to those games that it astonishes me there hasn't been a lawsuit already. Everything from the art style, the inventory, the puzzles, the eyepiece, the story, the notes left by your mentor, the borderline between science and alchemy theme, the eerie but not scary ambiance, the hint system, the list goes on. For all it's similarities though, there are some subtle differences. I found the puzzles to be slightly (only slightly) more frustrating than puzzles in The Room games, with the next step in a puzzle sometimes being a little too obscure. Other notable differences are the historical setting and a new mode added to the eyepiece, allowing the user to see glimpses of the past. The only thing I can criticize the game on is sometimes the touch controls feel somewhat clunky and imprecise, lending to frustration when trying to preform basic interactions, particularly on smaller objects. Overall, this game is definitely worthy of picking up for any true puzzle game fan, just like the any of The Room games, and is a shining example of what a puzzle game should strive to be. I personally hope they make a sequel that's just as great as this one..Version: 1.0.1

BeautifulI love assassins creed 2 and this kinda has that vibe, it’s a very aesthetically pleasing gaming. The puzzles are the right kind of challenging but the only “complaint” I have to far is when you have to turn a key or something in your inventory the movement of the whole object is just as sensitive as the movement of the key, so I usually twirl around the box or my viewpoint of whatever I’m trying to unlock. That being said it’s just a minor annoyance, I have an iPhone 11 Pro and my screen is big so it’s not too bad, just something to think about. I’d still recommend this highly recommend this game, it’s fun and is a great way to spend time in quarantine! I’ve played dozens of these style of puzzles over the last few weeks (some free and some paid) and this one is the most intriguing story and visually to me!.Version: 1.0.8

A Beautiful MasterpieceI've only come across a few games where I truly rate it 5 stars, and The House of da Vinci has now become a part of those select few. The puzzles, the graphics, the storyline, the soundtrack—are all beautifully done to shape this incredible project. I was engrossed from the start, and the suspenseful cliffhanger has me hooked for more from these developers. Nothing was ever too challenging that it made me want to never look at the game again, but nothing was ever too easy that it bored my brain. I was always filled with excitement when the character would sweep through the doors after completing a final puzzle, impatient for the next creative step/level/room of the story. A must game to play, and tale to jump into, for any puzzle lovers, master escapists, and those captivated by a good story..Version: 1.0.1

Good game - not for iPhoneI have been thoroughly enjoying this game and highly recommend it - but I very much wish I had started it on my iPad instead of my iPhone. The small screen size definitely makes finding objects and manipulating them difficult at times, and can even make figuring out some of the puzzles a lot more challenging than the puzzles really demand. That said - as others have noted, this game plays very much like The Room series, on which it is clearly modeled. The puzzles are fairly straightforward for the most part, although if you are as spatially challenged as I am, some of them can take a while to figure out :) For me, the overall challenge level is just about right - not so easy that I am flying through the game, but not so hard that I am throwing my device across the room (or watching walkthroughs) at every turn. Hope this helps!.Version: 1.0.1

Beautiful and promising but too frustrating to finishThe graphics are beautiful and the music is delicate and amazing. The game mechanics are so finicky and frustrating that I have given up on the game several times because I’ve stopped enjoying it. Yes, it’s similar to the Room games, and that was why I purchased it in the first place. I love puzzle games, I looked forward to the overall storyline, the game is beautiful (if a bit dark on an iPhone 7+ with up to date iOS) and the music suits the atmosphere perfectly. The main difference for me is that the Room game mechanics are effortless and mostly intuitive. I rarely had any experience in any of the Room games where I was frustrated just trying to move a piece along a track. In contrast, this game is tetchy, finicky, and fiddly. I don’t know that I would call it buggy or glitchy, but maybe poorly programmed. The hint system is endlessly frustrating too. When I got tired of trying to fiddle with some puzzle piece or drawer or slider, I’d give in and check a hint only to be told something obvious I was already doing. It’s a beautiful game with soothing music but I’m deleting it from my phone because it’s not relaxing to play and I’m tired of struggling with it. It’s almost there, guys! Let me know if you decide to smooth out the mechanics of it and I’ll gladly try it again!.Version: 1.0.8

Amazing gameI really loved this game. It took me awhile to complete it as I did it in increments. I did use the hint system more than a few times but sometimes just because I was lazy. I had to go online to solve a puzzle 2 times. Then I could've kicked myself because the solution was so "easy". The artwork and detail are really beautiful and there is really no repetition in the puzzles or solutions. Some of the puzzles are similar to The Room but the whole concept is similar so that's to be expected; it's what I love about the whole genre. It is beyond me how these creators even come up with these concepts, then design and implement them. I'm very impressed. I loved the DaVinci theme and setting. Ending was a bit flat and confusing but it didn't take away from my overall enjoyment..Version: 1.0.1

Fun, but frustratingAs everyone else has noticed, this is somewhat of a blatant ripoff of the room series. But it’s also very buggy. Many times when you put on the lens, it won’t show what it’s supposed to. I’ve sat through walkthrough videos only to find that the lens shows something it doesn’t show me, unless I equip/unequip it 4-5 times in a row. The activation areas on some objects are also really small, meaning things look immovable when they’re not. Could benefit from better usability testing. Edit: I understand the difference between the two lenses. The “tempus” one requires you to draw a symbol before you can go back in time. (spoiler) But for example, in the crypt, on the side of the tomb, with the lever and Roman numerals, I would equip the “infinitum” lens, and nothing happens. Then if I repeat 3 or 4 times, I finally see the hidden path and can see what turning the wheel does..Version: 1.0.8

Generally quite good, UX has some issuesGenerally a very good game. I enjoyed playing it. Comparisons to The Room are great, too many, really. I liked the Di Vinci perspective. But the UX was frustrating at times. Zooming was especially random, sometimes you could look 360 degrees, sometimes not, and sometimes you could get directly where you wanted to go, and sometimes you had to do crazy zoom in and zoom outputs to make a lateral move. The surfaces and scenery were gorgeous, games adequately challenging. But sometimes I solved a puzzle just by touching it to see what the controls did, and sometimes when I knew just what I needed to do I either couldn’t see or the controls were overly difficult to simply get to move. If they had just invested a little bit more in the playability, it would’ve gotten a full 5 stars from mr..Version: 1.0.8

Great style but lackingI love first person adventures like this one, and was sent here by the room series and myst. I love the look and the gameplay is similar to both those series with a few minor issues. While the puzzles themselves are not overly complex, the guidance of what you are supposed to be doing is sometimes unnecessarily vague. SPOILERS Early into the game you encounter a globe. You are expected to put different words into mechanisms in the globe. The clue looks like each word goes in a specific hemisphere, but the locations on the clue and the actual globe don’t line up, forcing trial and error. Once the globe is open, there is a RISK style puzzle but the rules given are vague and seem arbitrary. These frustrations mean the game feels more like a grind than a true puzzle, and this is fairly early in. I am still playing and will update if it gets better, but for now I feel a little disappointed..Version: 1.0.8

Good puzzle gameThe game is very much inspired by The Room series and shares many of that series' aesthetics. Therefore if you enjoyed playing The Room (especially the last installment) you should enjoy this game. I'm not going to dock stars simply because the game so strongly corresponds to The Room, however I will knock off a star because the game's color scheme is so dark it makes it very difficult to interact with some of the scenes and puzzles. The controls are pretty tight, but there are a few areas where you need to manipulate objects and pan the camera in the same scene and that can lead to some inadvertent interactions. The game is a good length and the puzzles are varied with a good difficulty curve. I'm just happy there are no "untangle the string" types of puzzles. All-in-all, it is a solid game and I would not be adverse to purchasing a sequel should one be developed..Version: 1.0.1

Captivating!I've been a big fan of The Room series. DaVinci proved to be even more challenging in many ways. The game is very well constructed, and the graphics and music are beautiful. I've ignored my family for two days while I finished the game. My 10 year old daughter is now playing and loving it. Some of the puzzles are a bit challenging for her, but in terms of content, I would consider this game to be fine for children. I'm helping her on some of the more difficult puzzles. My one and only complaint about the game is regarding the hints. I tried not to use them in general, but sometimes I caved when I got stuck for a while. More than once, the hints I was given pertained to a part of the game I'd already completed. I hope a sequel is under development!!.Version: 1.0.1

I really enjoyed this game.I am 65 and use games like this to keep me thought process and memory banks challenged and sharp. It also gave me a A wonderful opportunity to connect with my 12 year old grandson, a 38 year old son and husband, as we spent several hours working some of the achievements together. Made an old ladies heart warm. As for the game problem solving, I did become stumped on a few problems and found the hints un-useful. The game indicated I spent just over 8 hours to complete. LOL some of that time was spent cooking and walking our dogs, as I sometimes would forget to turn the game off. Great job, really enjoyed the game, beautiful graphics and the 3D effects added to the over all atmosphere of the game. Will work it again in a few weeks..Version: 1.0.4

Play this before you play The RoomIt’s not a room knockoff as much as other reviews say it is. There is overlap for sure but a) there’s only so many things you can do on a puzzle adventure with a touch screen and b) they devs clearly went out of the way to put a new spin on just about everything so it honestly feels as similar to The Room as Call of Duty feels similar to any other FPS game. That said...you’ll like this more if you play it before the The Room. It’s a good game but lacks a certain something that The Room has in droves. Puzzles here feel a little tedious and irritating at times and everything is more spread out in Da Vinci which makes it harder to keep track of everything to find/solve as opposed to the Room games which feel focused even in a busy environment. Still a fun game overall..Version: 1.0.8

Yes, it is similar to The Room series. This has been mentioned in previous reviews, but this game is clearly inspired by the "The Room" series. So much so that it even features the monocle piece device. It also has very similar artwork and captures the same intrigue as its predecessor. I enjoyed the puzzles and setting the game offered. The story was also impressive, but I prefer the mystical aspect The Room series had to offer. Although, near the ending it did add more of a mystical element. Even though one cannot call this exactly original, it is still well made and entertaining. The only reason this isn't 5 stars is because of how much this game borrows from The Room (I would have liked to have seen new features). I feel like I am starting to sound redundant, so if you are a fan of The Room series, you will enjoy this..Version: 1.0.1

If you like The RoomI’m a big fan of The Room games. Loved them all. I was looking for something similar and couldn’t find one until I got this game. No bug. Every puzzle is possible, but don’t expect them to be easy. The story is interesting too. Good job..Version: 1.0.8

Worthy Puzzler in "The Room" GenreThis game is clearly rooted in "The Room's" ethos and it's not disappointing. There are several excellent puzzles and an interesting storyline to follow. A plus are period-centric gears and levers that are in the DaVinci style. Some puzzles are solved using clues that are a little disconnected, which makes it a stretch as to why the solution is what it is, but overall, it's a pleasing package. The use of the two lenses makes a little more sense than "The Room's" use of the mystic eyewear. The music isn't distracting or overly dramatic (as was the case in "The Room" in some spots), and the pacing is good. Recommended! Looking forward to the sequel..Version: 1.0.1

CaptivantMe fait penser à "The Room". Puzzles captivants mais réalisables. Je n'ai pas hâte à la fin !.Version: 1.0.1

Love this game❤️I have now played both house of Da Vinci games and I loved them both. The storyline is amazing and the puzzles are challenging but not impossible. This game is definitely worth more that $8. I highly recommend this game.Version: 1.0.8

Well doneFantastic game. Was looking for something after i finished everything from Rusty Lake and tried this. After a few puzzles i immediately bought the other volumes. Very well done..Version: 1.1.0

Wonderful GameLovely graphic’s and story line. Just hard enough..Version: 1.1.0

Loved itThe graphics and motion in this game are superb. And normally I turn the music right off but in this game, I left it on because it was so gentle and atmospheric. I had to cheat a few times to get out of some of the puzzles but, overall, the game is great..Version: 1.1.0

Puzzles to solve that will test youTime well spent on this app. Lots of great puzzles to solve. Music and graphic design are beautiful and eerie. Highly recommend..Version: 1.1.0

Not quite as good as the Room seriesI want to like this game but , I’m stuck at a stage which I have re-played over and over again and over with the same result . I have searched for answers on line walk throughs and nothing no answers so I want to like the game but as I can only play half of it , I can only give it 3 stars . Just for info I’m stuck with the last part of the catapult in the workshop , no matter what I do the ball of fire won’t hit the target to let me through to the next part of the game, which is very frustrating and I’ve spent so much time on it . I also don’t find the puzzles particularly hard compared to the Room games . Usually when I buy a game I kinda expect it to be playable and few or no faults . If anyone reading this ie the game makers can help me I’d really appreciate being able to finish the game..Version: 1.1.0

Pour quand le 4😃.Version: 1.1.0

Riveting and captivatingA great puzzle game! Tutorial was easy enough to learn the mechanics well and difficult enough to get me looking forward to the rest of the game. Well done!.Version: 1.1.0

Très bienLes images sont super belles, les énigmes sont généralement assez simples, les indices sont utiles et il est toujours apprécié qu’on ait pris la peine de faire une version française (presque sans fautes, en plus!)..Version: 1.1.0

Pretty but not great gameplayWhile the setting and graphics are amazing and the story interesting enough, this makes for a frustrating game with my whole screen app moving when trying to activate or interact with things and objects and unclear signals as to if something is working or not. Definitely not at the level of The Room yet but I would give the second game a try if I find reviews saying that the gameplay has improved..Version: 1.1.0

Excellent escape gameCompletely worth getting full version. Everything is fantastic about this game. The puzzles range from easy to challenging, the graphics are excellent, the gameplay is intriguing. Even the achievements have an interesting hook. I am completely enamoured with this game developer because they gave you value for the money spent..Version: 1.1.0

EXCELLENT!!I cannot recommend this game enough! Worth every penny! Well thought out and well executed. Draws you in and reminds you of old PC adventure games. 100% recommended!.Version: 1.1.0

Awesome! The game is well made and I did enjoy it!.Version: 1.1.0

The absolute best of its kind.Well worth the money..Version: 1.1.0

Worth ItThis game is about the limit of what I’ll pay for an app but after finishing, I feel like it was worth it. Occasionally I was frustrated with the room orientation moving when I was flipping/twisting a component on an object. Sometimes the next step is a bit unintuitive or a leap in logic but mostly it was the right balance of challenging but not frustrating. Great mix of puzzle types and long play time. I highly recommend..Version: 1.1.0

Brilliant gameOne of the top top top best games was ever published I wish there was a part three. Please make a part three..Version: 1.1.0

GoodSome parts I had to use a walk through because it was super difficult to figure out..Version: 1.1.0

Worth the purchase but can get very frustratingHaving played similar games (in particular the Room series) I’d say this is overall one of the better ones. I don’t regret the purchase, and I liked it enough to buy the second one. Lots of game to play, very nice graphics, some very interesting and creative puzzles that were a nice mix of brain and brawn. However... I must echo what others have said: too many of the puzzles are not intuitive and the hints in those cases did not help much. I stumbled through a couple of puzzles by accident and am pretty sure I totally missed all clues that should have led me there. In other cases, I never would have solved them without online tutorials and walk throughs, and sometimes even after a walk through it was still not exactly clear how they got the answer. I like to know the how and the why, not just the actual answer. I also think hints should make you go “oh geez, how did I miss that!” not “seriously? How in the world was I ever supposed to figure that one out?”... and so for that I can’t quite give it 5 stars. Graphics, music and sound are really good but the navigation and excessive moving around in a few places is clunky and tedious and gets a bit annoying. It’s also very touchy in a few places... and things like levers being placed too close to the edge of the screen so every time you touch it the game closes made me almost quit a few times. :/ Hopefully that’s a little better in the next one. I have now gone back and played a second time a year or two later and found the same frustrations as the first time through... but still enjoyed it..Version: 1.1.0

Fantastic...Loved it even more the second time round, two years after first completing..Version: 1.1.0

Keeps crashingWonderful puzzles and very nice graphics but keeps crashing on my iPad ..Version: 1.1.0

Amazing puzzlesThis lasted me for days. Loved it..Version: 1.1.0

Great ... but ...The game in itself is great: truly, truly, truly magnificent graphics and a pretty good intrigue. Unfortunately, some of the puzzles take literally forever to achieve and you begin to lose interest when you’re stuck on the same puzzle. A « skip puzzle » button would be interesting to help you move forward. I bought the House of Da Vinci 2 and, same thing: the « Skip puzzle » button would be a great addition to the game. If Blue Brains make a third installment of this series, I hope they will take this into consideration. But don’t get me wrong: if you buy this game, it’s far from a waste of money !!!.Version: 1.1.0

As Good as it GetsGreat graphics, refined puzzles and a good story line. An excellent and entertaining challenge. Like all games in this category there are a few times where a “clue” is too hidden to find, but rarely. There is one solution where precise timing is involved in order to move on. Unfortunately, what you need to do is not intuitive at all, I was forced to consult a walkthrough, even then it was difficult to perform. I would still highly recommend purchasing this adventure despite this..Version: 1.0.8
