Prisma: Photo Editor, Filters App Comments & Reviews

Prisma: Photo Editor, Filters Positive Reviews

Too good to existThis ain’t some bot review. This is my ONLY review I’ve ever written for an app. Every app has problems and I just don’t like being bothered to review usually, but THIS app… It’s so good, so fun, so simple, and has results that are so beautiful that I’m in awe. I could tinker all day applying filters to photos, selecting the subject/background switch to only apply the filter on part of a photo, and mixing/matching/stacking filters on top of each other to create something realllllly cool. You can have any photo turned into a work of art, that would’ve taken days weeks or months to do by hand, whether it’s a hand-painted or digitally altered look you want, or both. On top of all of that, they give you a ridiculous amount of free filters to “favorite” to your library. I despise paying for superfluous digital extras and, with the selection they give me for free, I’ll never have to w this app. Apps like this are why progress and technology are so worth it. For real. This app and the built-in standard editing features that come with your phone are all you will ever need, except maybe an app that allows you to remove objects from photos. Why haven’t you downloaded this app yet? Go. Do it. You won’t regret it..Version: 4.7.2

Not at all pleasedFor an app that I pay for I expect much better than I am getting! When I first got the app and the subscription, it was wonderful and I loved the filters and the creative options it gave me. Now I need to close and reopen the app in order to use it after I do the first filter. I get the message “Something went wrong. Please wait a moment and try again later.” Then I can do maybe one or two more before getting the message again and having to close and reopen the app. And staring today I cannot use it at all, I continually get that message no matter what filter o try to use or how many times I restart the app. I even deleted and reinstalled the app with the same issue. I know the monthly payments are not terribly high, but I am very choosy about the apps that I pay for and my expectation is that if I am spending my money I should be able to use the product I am paying for so very disappointed with the situation and thinking of getting rid of my subscription and the app all together. I do not like to waste my money..Version: 3.11.4

GoodFantastic app use it literally every day but it’s crazy that paying for HD , I still have to click on the inferior free one and wait for it to load wasting valuable time then being allowed to do the HD download. I paid for HD I should be able to go straight to HD on my iPad Pro. It’s astonishing that a great app….literally the best out there hasn’t fixed this problem. I’m never going to download anything except my HD renderings so why after being a 4-5 year customer am I being aggravated with this. I only write this because at one point in time, you could choose only to use HD which was perfect and what I paid for. Why did it change? I’m always searching for apps like these but there isn’t a better one out yet. If this problem gets fixed i will need no longer to search. I know you’re thinking what’s 3 seconds. Well when you render 100 plus a day every other day it ads up. I would say Time is money but honestly it’s just annoying when working with your otherwise awesome app as much as I do. So a 6 out of 5 star app gets a 3 because of the negative 1 star the annoyance as I call it gets. Leaving with a 3. Good day. Really love the app and tell everyone that asks how I create what i do..Version: 4.7.5

Amazing PotentialI've never been this excited about a photo editing app as I was when I discovered Prisma.. however my enthusiasm has grown into disappointment because over & over I come up against some of the filters no working. For ex. This time I keep trying " dancers in pink" & "Aviator" Every single time I click to use it, a pop up says, something like, there are too make people using Prisma currently try again later. I do try again and it's always the same.. I mean either it should work properly or you need to fix it.. please... please... I would love to make a 5 star raving review but I'm so frustrated! Haven’t even used this app in so long so frustrated… now it freezes every time I allow photo access.. I used Prisma all the time in the beginning when it first came out even have pictures posted in the app, I had so much fun with it What is the problem now .. I can’t even access it?.Version: 4.3.9

Could be so much betterWhen I first signed up for this app, I had no complaint. The filters are beautiful. I love looking at other users’ photos. But there’s this thing that’s been happening consistently for the last five months. People are getting banned for no reason. They are then told by a prisma representative that they were flagged by multiple users for inappropriate content. But the offending photo is something like a tree, a building or a road. It makes no sense. And it takes days and tons of e-mails back and forth to resolve the issue. When prisma support finally realizes the user has been unfairly banned, their explanation for what happened seems like a cop-out. The solution to this issue seems obvious. Have a prisma rep check out the “offending” photo before banning. But it’s still going on. I paid for a year’s subscription to prisma before this started happening, so I’m still an active user. But I probably won’t pay again once the year’s up, if this issue isn’t resolved. If you’re thinking of paying for the full prisma app and you’ve made it through this whole rant, you might want to think twice..Version: 3.11.1

Unable to log in account and Prisma unable to email verificationI am very frustrated and disappointed with Prisma and the Support Team. I just got a new iPhone and can’t log into my Prisma account. I have typed in my email address for verification, Prisma instructed to check my email but I haven’t received their email verification. I’ve been trying to log into my account for 2 months now and was unsuccessful. I have reached out to Prisma Support Team and they said it must be in my spam box. I’ve checked every single email in my spam box and it’s not there. I sent them screenshots of my profile to let them know that my account is still active and to look up the email linked to my account. The Support Team said they can’t look that up do to piracy. I am being charged monthly and I am unable to access my account. I find it hard to believe that such developers would not look up my email address but charging my account monthly. It’s such a shame!.Version: 3.11.3

I'm basically addicted to PrismaI'm not sure how many other apps out there do similar filters and effects with photos, but Prisma was the first that I ever used, and I absolutely love it. You can make some of your photos look like gorgeous paintings and styles of art with a ton of variety. I even use some of the effects with uploaded video game screenshots to make some truly incredible looking images, even though the free version of the app reduces the maximum image resolution quite a bit. I've never paid for the premium version of the app, but as much as I like to play around with the free filters, I've considered it - there are dozens more filters on the paid version, and there's even a daily filter that gives you something new every day. Really, I love this app, and it's helped make some of my favorite photos and moments in my life look even more interesting..Version: 3.13.9

Prisma is a great app with lots of potential......I recently did the 3 days free trial of the premium Prisma subscription, as before now I’ve always been a free (SD) user. Now many of these filters are amazing and give your photos a painted or very interesting style, however, the built in camera is lacking greatly in manual controls, in the fact there aren’t any controls other than tapping your shooting area (to define auto focus and exposure) and your shutter button. Due to this, if your natural lighting isn’t bright enough, then typically the filters will not work as well. Furthermore, after playing with many of the filters and adjustment settings, as well as flipping back and forth between SD and HD mode, I don’t see much of a difference in quality. So for the base price of $4.99 a month, I’m lost as to where all these features are that make up for forking out the extra money a month and/or year. If Prisma can update it’s camera mode, and add more adjustment features I’d certainly be more willing to pay..Version: 3.12.0

New Updates are Ruining this AppI’ve loved this app for as long as I can remember— from its inception it strategically placed itself at the crossroads of art and technology; it was symbol of wholesome innovation, human ingenuity. But over the past few years that’s changed drastically. Slowly, Prisma has been “removing” art styles (the defining feature of the app) and putting them behind a paywall. I personally once had over 50 pictorial options available to me; now I only have 15. At this point, upwards of 90% of the potential art formats are seemingly locked behind this frustrating, ill-advised paywall. I understand that Prisma needs to make money, but implementing occasional ads, for instance, is far preferable to limiting app functionality so severely that users are forced to pay or leave. That’s what Prisma feels like now and it’s a shame— I’ve been using the app for years and for the first time ever I’m inclined to download a free rip-off and delete this once-essential original. I hope the current course is corrected sooner rather than later..Version: 4.8.0

Not bad, but…This is a cool app. It's got a lot of cool filters. Your images won't really look like paintings though. They'll look like altered Photoshop images but they'll still look really cool. I had a crash issue just before writing this review. I fixed it by shutting down all apps on my iPad and then restarting the iPad. That seemed to fix the problem. I think the problem I have with this app really isn't with this app in particular but with all photography apps now. They all seem to want a subscription. I already pay a subscription fee. I pay $10 a month for Lightroom and Photoshop. Currently the most advanced photo editing software on the market. The iPad and iPhone just don't have the processing power to keep up with Lightroom and Photoshop. So apps on these platforms perform one or two functions or a group of simpler functions that Photoshop performs... but demand 1/3 or 1/2 of the monthly price. If you pay the yearly subscription for Prisma you're still paying about 1/6 of the price for filters that you have no control over. No adjustments, no sliders. Yes, you can adjust the opacity of the filter, but that's it. Having said all that, I pay the yearly fee. It's taken some of the cool out of the app but I use it a couple times a month. At two times a month I'm paying about ¢80 per use. Take that into consideration. It will give mostly satisfying results overall. Take that into consideration too..Version: 3.9.11

Originally I enjoyed this App. While it worked I enjoyed the software.I’ve used this app for a couple years. I was a fun creative outlet. I subscribed and paid for it because I liked it some much. Several months ago the app keep crashing over and over. I doubleshooted my so phone and app version. Everything should of been working. But it kept crashing. I reached out to the Prisma contact team and submitted support in getting their product to work. Unfortunately I got a generic email that indicated they didn’t know what software/product I was inquiring about, nor any solutions or there than cancel you subscription. I wish they had better news and solution as I would like to keep using this product. Buyer/user beware. It works, until it doesn’t. Update: response from Prisma team was help. This time around it fixed the problem. Too bad it too a public message to get the attention from a paying customer. Thank you for the response..Version: 4.7.7

Great app and great companyI am not an incentivized reviewer. I am a marketing and creative executive and using my free time to make art. Prisma is one of my favorite apps of all time. I use it to add life to my images every time I take a photo that I want to preserve and celebrate. It allows me to add emotion and more meaning to my most precious memories. Often, I will take my Prisma outputs and turn them into large prints. As an artist, I also will take photos that I want to paint and use Prisma to help me model a style and use of color. The editing tools are also great. After I select a Prisma style, I will always use the tools to adjust the values and hues to optimize the image. The variety of styles and frequent updates and additions is super duper. Prisma also helps me when I want to enlarge images because some of the artistic styles will make pixel resembling more forgiving. I only hope that someday I could use Prisma directly on a desktop environment so that I could work with much larger images than can’t be processed on a phone or tablet. The company is great and responsive too. When I had an issue with the user experience on the app, Prisma responded by rapidly making improvements to processing time, interactive feedback and user interface. Amazing! I have renewed faith!.Version: 4.6.2

Loved until latest update 🌹 revisedSlowly and truly I love to Prisma so very much- I got the coolest effects, just updated it and only have the option of about six filters and everything else you have to pay for and you want to charge a monthly fee. No way. There are other photo editing apps available and I think going from one extreme to another is just not fair to your loyal customers. You were great, and now you’re not. 🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹 thank you for the response I appreciate it yes the old filters were hiding in the I would never have looked. I can use the app the way I used to, but again one little criticism I don’t like every time I open it wanting to be asked to pay for it. And I really would pay something I just think what you’re trying to charges too much when there’s some great free apps- again thank you..Version: 3.10.1

Versatile for your creativityI have been using the Prisma app for enhancing my artwork and photos since I downloaded the app. I almost never write reviews so this app is the exception for me to take the time to write a review for an iPhone app. This app is a MUST HAVE app for creative artists. The sheer number of 700 styles available for an artist to play with is PHENOMENAL! The control toggles for adjusting a photo with the app are perfect. You can adjust the exposure, contrast, tint, temperature, highlights, shadows, vibrance, and saturation to an exact number from scale of negative 100 to positive 100. The sheer difference on every number adjustment is perfect for creating the perfect look for your artwork and photos. The backgrounds are interesting and add another layer of style to your design. I only have good things to say about this app..Version: 4.7.4

I’m impressed!(Edit) I upped the star rating because the developer reached out and explained the issues better. I really really like the frames that were just added. These features and updates are what excite me about this app. I’m still very impressed with the end results and I think this app really has legs. I’m looking forward to the future. Thanks (Original review) My issue with this app is I constantly get a “something went wrong” error. The way filters are sorted and organized is very difficult to work with. I would like a better way to group filters or see them all at once. I’m paying a subscription for this app but this app doesn’t feel premium. It feels like a free app still. Over all I really enjoy the filters and how my images come out, but the experience isn’t great. I doubt I will renew my subscription if this is how the app still functions in one year.Version: 4.3.0

Really cool app; really un-cool business model.I have been buying iOS photo/graphics apps for a very long time now, and this one produces some of the coolest finished products I have ever seen. BUT, unless you pay for a monthly subscription, you cannot save in “high resolution.” Therefore, it converted the 4032x3024 image from my 8 Plus to a 600kb 1792x1344 one. If you are creating stuff for texting or to post on a website, then that is not an issue. But if you want to save your image so as to be able to incorporate it into a print someday, you are SOL without the monthly subscription. Further, some of the filters are apparently owned by third parties, and launch begging pop-ups when you go to use them. I really like what you can create with this app, and would gladly shell out a flat fee for it. But I will not pay a monthly fee for something I might only want to use every now and again, and I didn’t buy an 8 Plus to work with .5MB image files..Version: 3.9

This used to be one of my favorite appsI loved the fact that this app was so simple and basic to use. I’ve been using it since it was free and was more than happy to pay for it once there was a fee, all of a sudden everything I loved about this app is gone, and it’s like a whole different app that doesn’t do what I needed to do.I have tried updating the subscription, updating the app, and nothing is working. One of my favorite features what is the ability to control how strong the filter was applied to the image, it seems as if the latest update has removed that feature. Please fix immediately, this is not the same app that I paid for..Version: 4.6.1

What I love about PrismaAs an artist, I have found the Prisma app to be a fantastic tool, especially when it comes to understanding more about color relationships, the various mediums and where lights and darks should go in a painting. It offers many interesting filters. I like some better than others, but they seem to cater to many levels of artistic taste. One filter I particularly loved, called Abstract Portrait, disappeared one day and I wish it were offered again. Please consider restoring it! A friend and I are thinking of having an art show featuring our Prisma images. We have many wonderful ones. I would like to see more fine art filters, e.g. Van Gogh, O’Keefe, Hopper and other great colorists. Thank you..Version: 3.9.9

Very satisfactory results at a hefty price of time and money! At first it was great because it had very unique offline "filters". After a while I thought it was still great because the effects were still unique and suited my preference compared with every other IOS app offered out there. Then it just kept evolving until it had a library of effects and HD. I don't know if it will work offline anymore. I guess everything does come at a price (about $20) for an annual HD access. Downside is it takes a quite while to process!! if you were meticulous to details you'd want to try just about every effect. Beware: it is battery draining even for my iPhone 7 Plus!.Version: 3.9.5

A great app!UPDATE: Prisma has done some updates. Thankful that some of the glitches have been worked out. I love the yearly fee and all the filters I have access to. I’ve been able to make some incredible photos with this app. Prisma has a bunch of really great people on it and I feel like a world traveler being able to see Hong Kong, Italy, Australia, Korea, the Netherlands, and many other places. There is a community with in Prisma and am proud to call them friends. We pay for Prisma app and my husband was just banned. Banned means you can still see others posts but you can’t post, like posts, or comment/like posts. We have written to Prisma and he is still blocked from the app..Version: 3.11.3

Please add scale slider for paid versionI think I figured out what the trouble is with the legacy filters! They ARE the same filters, they’re just applying at a much smaller size due to the increased resolution (I appreciate the increased resolution). One thing that would be great for the paid version is a scale option for the sliders, to affect the scale at which the filter is applied to the image. I’m really enjoying all the other sliders! Would also love a true rainbow color shift slider for bold effects. Right now there are two resolution options and often the lower one is the bolder image, but it can’t be exported at the higher resolution, which has the filter applied at an extremely fine grain..Version: 3.12.9

Very NiceI enjoy the app. Simple to use, filters are beautiful and interesting, and the design is not complicated. The app has always worked without issue. The price is steep for occasional use and being limited to mobile only. It would be absolutely fair and I would certainly pay for a subscription if there was a desktop version. Not every photo I take is with a mobile phone. I like to use my DSLR camera a lot and many of the photos would be superb with a Prisma filter. Photoshop is great but sometimes Prisma offers something I can’t achieve with photoshop. My knowledge is just not that thorough. Excellent app..Version: 4.7.4

The best photo painting app I've ever encounteredI have tried more than two dozen apps that take photos and paint over them and have been disappointing every time. I was amazed at the very first photo I tried after downloading the app, and it's way above all the other apps that do this to photos. As a professional photographer since 1973, and someone who wanted to create artwork from some of my photos, This app is in a class of it on and I would recommend it to anyone who's looking create art from their own photos. The one thing I would like to see, and while this app does an excellent job at converting photos into art using their filters, I love the ability to use my Apple pen to actually color of the sections that I want colored, leaving the rest alone. I'm a person who loves to do hand tinting photographs, and one day maybe to Labella preserve this app will create the ability to hand tint photos. Otherwise this is a five star app and a must have app in every photographer and artist's arsenal..Version: 4.2.3

Most free features goneI downloaded the app when it first came out, based on the rave reviews and the cool images I saw referenced on Instagram. Since then, I have used it occasionally, perhaps once or twice very 2-3 months. I’ve often touted it when I teach smartphone photography workshops as something fun that photographers might want to have in their app library. Now I see most of the filters I used to enjoy are gone, and there is a monthly or yearly fee. Since I am only an occasional user, this fee is not worth the investment. I understand the need to monetize, but this particular shift is a big switch to the expensive side..Version: 3.9.2

Great app...when it worksThis app is great for editing photos. Super easy to use and it has some amazing filters. However....I notice that this app crashes all the time, and it’s usually while you are trying to save an edit. I have tried everything to prevent this (delete and reinstall app, restart device, close all apps, etc) and nothing seems to fix it. Magically it will start working a few days later without issue. This is extremely aggravating when you have spent time trying to edit a pic and have all your edits trashed when the app crashes. I’m happy that I didn’t pay for the subscription.Version: 3.19.14

App is down for a week nowI use this app every single day and Love, the ease of use and versatility. My Prisma has been down for days! I cannot do “what I do” without it and am getting no support for the problem. I subscribe to the version on my iPad and need it fixed asap. The app is 5 star, support is non existent. Please respond Thank you shenandoahsharon Support is non existent and I can’t live without my Prisma, please I deleted the app, hard booted my iPad, and reinstalled. Only 4 or five of the filters work. Please someone see this and respond. I don’t want a refund, I need Prisma..Version: 4.7.7

App freezesContacted by Developer who suggested work around while they try to fix it. Changing setting for photo access from “All Photos” to “Selected Photos“ gets rid of the App Freeze problem. I have changed my rating from 1 star to 4 stars as a result. Version 4.1.2 No change. Still freezes upon startup. Version 4.1.1. This app was good enough for me to subscribe for a year, but since the last update, it no longer works. Freezes upon startup. Been a couple of weeks and no fix. I have the previous version on my iPad and that still works even with the iOS 14.4 update. So I don’t think it is an iOS problem. Don’t bother until they fix it..Version: 4.1.2

Getting worseSince past couple months the HD images being saved are not correct aspect ratio. They are slightly warped. This can be seen when you superimpose over the original image. Please fix!! Also are you making it so one has to put more effort into getting HD image. Bring back the setting where we can put an effect and have it automatically HD!! With this last update it’s takes even longer to get the HD option. Also, by your privacy policy it seems you are keeping copy of every image uploaded to Prisma? If this is true why? Why do I have to use online processing to use some effects. The iPhone’s processor is easily capable to do it..Version: 4.7.7

Everyone can be an artist!I love this app. I have an art studio inside with a large gallery. I have a basket full of cards that I have made to sell and the ones that are chosen more often than any are the ones that I have put through this app. Walk into a flower shop, ask them if you can take some photos of their lovely flowers and use those arrangements for birthday or anniversary cards using the different looks this app can give you. You will be surprised how stunning your cards will look..Version: 4.8.0

Prisma currently stinks.I have used Prisma for several years. There was no other app that came close to it, artistically speaking. I created spectacular images with it. But suddenly within the last few months it stopped working completely. I can open the app, then it freezes on the first screen that appears. I have tried to get in touch with the company to find a fix so I could keep using it, but the responses I got were useless. Do not subscribe to this app until they fix what’s wrong, and based on their correspondence, it’s never going to get fixed. How sad that such a beautiful app had become utterly worthless..Version: 4.3.4

AWSOMEThis is so much fun and it can add serious artistic content i will sketch in another app run the image in this program looking for effects I always find something that i like. I have posted a lot of work here and have loyal followers it is a Good community for me to get out my expressions and find feedback. I love the international worldwide feedback i also love seeing my corespondents work it is all terrific. So what else is there i think we have a lot in common Russia and Texas are big open places populated by creative souls this is one way for us to be friends..Version: 3.9.5

No longer works. Update; working nowOnly 3 filters are working. I click on filters and it will go through the usual process of ' creating artwork ' and when done there is no change to the photograph. I uninstalled and reinstalled and same. It's been doing this for a couple of weeks now. Is it just me ? Update. I uninstalled it about 7 weeks ago and reinstalled it last week. Working now. It didn't work when I uninstalled and reinstalled right away last time..Version: 3.11.1

This is why you don’t want to update apps...I used to have a lot of fun with this app, and a few of the filters became my favorite go-to treatment for photos...now it seems to be completely unusable. I don’t mind paying for apps, I understand the value in it for the right apps-but recently it seems like we get hosed by developers. Some of these in-app purchase amounts are insane for stuff that stops working. Hopefully they get this figured out...used to be 5 stars for me, but now 2-as a nostalgic courtesy..Version: 3.12.1

Awesome app! This app is so much fun!.Version: 3.8.2

The New Terms a Turn OffI just read the new(?) terms of use by these guys and have serious problems with it. I have previously greatly enjoyed the App but after seeing what I had to agree to with the new (?) modified usage agreement, I deleted it from my phone. I’ll miss it but I also like keeping the rights to how my images are used..Version: 3.9.13

Thank you 🙏☘️☘️☘️☘️.Version: 4.8.0

BugOn my iPhone 12 updated the app but when I click + to add a new photo, it does nothing!.Version: 4.8.0

Love hate relationshipWhile I love using prisma it is very annoying that they make improvement on the second app and advertise it in prisma. If you pay a yearly sub already and very little improvement happen in prisma but all your efforts go to Lensa, which is a paid app too it’s frustrating to get adds to try /buy all the innovative feature not included in the current app you subscribe to..Version: 4.7.9

Prisma Art AppThis is a very good app. Easy to use. A very good place to go to for that extra splash of inspiration..Version: 4.7.3

App keeps crashingI have been using Prisma app for the last year and a half, and up until recently, all has worked well. Unfortunately, while I have a yearly subscription, as of the last 3 days, the app crashes without even opening up. This is a challenge as I use this app to make photo art to create photo cards for sale to raise money for a wildlife charity. How can this be rectified sooner than later?.Version: 4.7.3

FunJust a heck of a lot of fun!.Version: 4.7.3

WowLove, love, love, this ap. I have been taking pictures for 40 years and now I have something so cool to work with, i can’t stop editing photos. So many different thing to do, filters galore. Brings back that ‘I want to take pictures” again. Try the free trial, you will be hooked. Thanks! Oh no, purchased app but can't seem to get the backgrounds, what now as i have no one to email.Version: 4.6.5
