If a player is starting in the field but has a DH (Designated Hitter) batting for them the DH also shows up in the field on defense. I’m assuming this maybe has something to do with the batting lineup being entered and the DH being the one that is listed on it? I am a parent who unfortunately lives in another state so I am still a huge fan and extremely grateful this app exists and that her J.V. High School team uses it! I did pay for Premium Subscription, so far they’ve only played one game and nothing else has stuck out to me that needs to be modified yet. My Daughter started in left field and played there all 7 innings but she did have a DH batting for her and this players name (the DH) was shown in Left Field the entire game. The DH did draw a walk last at bat and my daughter did pinch run for her and that switch was made but an app correction to differentiate between defensive player and DH when this occurs would be awesome! Very happy with this app other than that and so grateful I can listen to play by play as I cannot be present 85% of the season!
Hi! i've been playing softball for 8 years and using gamechanger for 6 of them. i'd like to start off by saying this is a wonderful app, and very functional!! however, there are a few things i would like to point out that can be annoying while using the app. 1. as a player, i want to have gamechanger so i can watch my siblings games, look at my stats, and watch my clips. the thing is, all of these things are only available to premium users, which i do not have the money to buy as a teenager. it gets really old asking my mom to look at my stats or watch my videos, so i think this app would be so much better if they either made premium cheaper, made these things accessible without paying altogether, or created a "player" account where they can access their own stuff without having to pay. 2. going back on the "player" account, i think that would be really cool so then for example when my mom has to RSVP me to games, i can just do it myself. i also don't like being listed as a parent. like, seriously, why can't i be a player?? 3. finally, sometimes gamechanger just does not want to work. it doesn't load, captures the wrong clips, or the livestream and plays announcer are drastically off while watching a live game. this is probably the biggest issue that everyone has. anyways, those are my only complaints. besides these few flaws, gamechanger is a great way to stay involved, communicate, and keep track of things!! thank you for looking into this. good luck to everyone's teams!! ✌️
I have been using this application since 2017 and have enjoyed using it. Tracking the baseball games of my high school and college team has been super simple and I will continue to do so using GameChanger. I do not give it the full five stars, however, in that I feel the app has shifted more so to the focus on streaming/recording the games then the actual scoring. It has been over 8 months (looking back at the update history on the App Store) and even longer since a scoring feature or dimension had been added to baseball and the other sports which GameChanger tracks. I understand asking for new features takes time however, when the feature is an addition to an already existing feature it should not be a huge issue to add in. Example: Adding a “left-center” and “right-center” option for a home run when only provided a “right”, “center”, and “left” option already in the application. I and others have reached out with potential feature additions all to receive the same automated like response of, “We will definitely pass your suggestion on to our engineers… We cannot promise that it will be added, but we will definitely explore the possibility when deciding what features to build next.” We have potential feature ideas and want to help to continue to build GameChanger up because we enjoy the application and would like to see the app grow even more. I enjoy GameChanger and just hope to see GameChanger to continue to add on certain features for scoring which it’s users have provided.
UPDATE: I had an opportunity to use a premium account this weekend. EVERY frustration that I expressed in my initial review are addressed. I was able to enjoy the games (including breaks). I was able to replay and make videos of my grandson’s AB’s and plays in the field, review statistics, etc. All as advertised. I was thoroughly impressed and highly recommend the premium accounts, whichever one meets your needs. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I tried to use the basic free app to follow my grandson’s baseball. Unfortunately, if you do not pay 100% attention to the app you are out of luck!! I love my grandson, but I am unable to watch the app 100% of the time. I missed his AB’s and am out of luck. No audio, no play by play to catch up, no box score, no game recap. If the game doesn’t fit your schedule or if you need to go to the bathroom or fix something to eat or answer the phone…you are out of luck. I live on social security and in today’s world I am unable to pay for upgrades. I will forgo the frustration. Too bad there isn’t a reasonable price for seniors on limited incomes.
The app is great for the most part my biggest issue is with the search features. The classic app would allow me to search by state or country if I was unsure exactly what town had been used to register a team unfortunately now I have to search by each town even if they are very close together. The second issue is the search will return a lot of results when I use multiple words. For instance I use a league name with the words All Star even if I put quotation marks around it I get a couple thousand results even when limited to the current season. The search will also return all teams with word all or star in them there is no way to limit the search to an exact match. Location is also weird in that fact that some location searches will only return those results from those cities while other would return from multiple cities. You would think it would be the big cities returning multiple and the small just those locations instead I search for Phoenix I will only get teams with a location of Phoenix. If I search for Mesa however, I get Mesa, Gilbert, or Chandler. The search is also weird in the fact that if I have a word in the title that happens to be a place name I will also get all the teams associated with that location if I don’t put a limit on the location. I’m hoping for a clean up of the search function especially with most teams switching over to the team manager app

They have announced that the original GC will no longer be supported, but they have also left out too many features from the original. For example, you cannot do any research into other teams. It was really nice in GC to be able to search out other teams and view their schedule and results to get a feel for what the team is like. Another example related to the last is the inability to view a replay of a game for a team that I am not a part of. My son and I like to watch his friends’ games sometimes, but we don’t want to be official followers of the team. Yet another example is that there is no web interface anymore. It is so nice on GC to be able to go on your computer and view all the stats, and even download the stats for some of your own analysis. You can still export, but it requires an additional step of emailing the stats to yourself. Anyway, I would give it 5 stars if they could have kept all the same functionality of the original GC, while simply adding to it with the new functionality of GC Team Manager.
GameChanger is a great tool and solid platform. I used the “Classic” for years. I was a good boy and switched to the Team Manager as pushed to do upon its release. So after using TM for several season now, I miss many of the small features of the “classic.” Having to put up with the terrible abbreviated names, where in classic you could edit them and have them make sense. I loved the old web interface and watching the games in real time and access to stats. The short game recap blurbs where neat. With the new improvements to AI, those burbs would be a nice addition to bring over to TM. There is a real missed opportunity with team logos being used. I put all the logos for our teams in, yet I never see them utilized anywhere except buried in the opponents section. Let’s see the logos in the schedule and while scoring the games. Also, add to the pitch count. Let’s see totals pitches, inning pitches, and at bat pitches. Lastly, add a fielder’s choice+error option to score plays. Just a few small things that could make TM better and go from good to great.
We are able to send out info via email or text to everyone on the team, their family, their fans, or all at the same time. They do have to sign up for app, but it’s fairly noninvasive, and they don’t have to pay anything. Then they can all follow schedules, games, stats, and so much more. There are memberships, but you don’t need them to use most of the excellent features. You can stream games live from an iPhone and if you have a tripod you can just set it up, and go live and the innovative technology will follow the action. Finally the feature I love the most, stat tracking! You or a member you choose, can track stats and you don’t need a pencil, paper, neat handwriting, or miss the game trying to figure out what just happened. You tap “button” and then you might get a follow up question to get maybe who had an assist or a rebound. There are so many features for all sports, but I have only used it for basketball so far.
Listen. The app is great. We are now required to use it to keep track of pitch counts in our state. That being said if you are going to transition from one app to another, you need to just do it and stop giving teams the choice. What has happened is half the teams from our conference use classic and the other use team manager. Now this makes us load every teams roster instead of it already being there. AND most importantly if you pay for a membership (we do) to see other teams pitch counts. You only get the one in the app you are utilizing. I am not paying two membership fees. The review will be updated when this is resolved. Just make everyone go to one app please. UPDATE: GC support has reached out to help remedy the situation. It goes to show you how well they manage and care about their product. Therefore I revised to 5 stars. The critique still stands until the transition is completed.
This app has been very helpful coaching my kid’s sports teams. Having the calendar, team chat, and rsvp all in one place has been amazing. Looking forward to the “organization” capability recently added as it would be really nice to see other scores in our league, schedule, and potentially standings. Would also hope that staff of one team can watch live streams from their organization without being a “fan” of the other teams as I may want to want some of the other games in my league. The live steaming has been great for family members that live out of town or just can’t make that game. I wish their was an app for the Apple TV to watch games on the TV without screen mirroring, would give 5 stars for that. As a coach having stats and spray charts has been great. As well as the ability to watch archived videos. Wish it was easier to deal with leagues that use kid and coach pitch without a complication work around that is difficult to keep up with multiples times each inning.
I really want to like this new app but I am struggling. Though the interface is similar to the old gamechanger as far as score keeping goes, there are some infuriating differences. These differences make me give it 1 star. #1 No longer can I research other teams without “joining” them. I do not want to join every upcoming team we play. I just want to see who they’ve played in the past and what their standing is. I loved this feature in the old gamechanger. #2. If a team is using the old gamechanger, they can not be found on the new app and vice versa. #3. I dislike that I have to have a link to access minimal information on the web. The old interface is SO MUCH BETTER! I can research teams, see some opposing team stats, set up schedules, etc. the new interface does nothing except set up games and manage the team and 1/2 the time you cant find the team you are looking for. Part of managing a team is knowing the opponents as well. Please bring this feature back. But in the new app, these features are gone. I feel like this app was pushed out way to soon as it seems like a rush job. The web portion is a complete joke. I became so frustrated I quit and did the updates on my phone using the app. I seriously regret leaving the old app and starting a new season with the new app. Once you import, you’re screwed. I wish we could go back until this is figured out. Please bring back the ability to research opponents game win loss record and games they’ve played amd their opponents. This is an awesome tool.
This is a great app however it is frustrating in how they parse information out in chuncked on the different levels. What you get is confusing in the descriptions when you go to buy different levels. What you can see other than the games as far as stats, replay information and statistical information, especially about ‘your own player at least. Also the coach can limit the amount of information you can see seemingly if you think you’ve payed for it. Overall this is a great app. for being able to follow games, especially if you can be there. The one thing that becomes a little annoying is the background soundtrack during live games. It is good crowd noise to fill the gaps between announcements, which are good to let you know the app is still running, but certain effects become repetitive. However the update that is needed is the detail in placement and type of hit. Deep, middle, shallow outfield hit, weak or hard hit line drive or ground ball etc.
I have been using GameChanger for years, but when the price kept going up I got a bit annoyed. Sure you can use the free one, but you don’t get a lot of the stats and depending on the level of your athlete this can be important. My subscription somehow Expired, I must have clicked that when cancelling others. I was skeptical to pay again, but decided to just do the family plan. So my kid wasn’t kicking me out of mine all the time and figured grandma could have the good info also. I accidentally used the wrong email to set up the account and now had two, but not on the one with all the teams and history. Annoyed I reached out to customer service. Read this part for sure….. They gave me a couple Options to correct the issue. I went with combining accounts to avoid the refund process and paying again. Here is the awesome part!! From first email, to 100% corrected has only been a few hours. I believe it only took this long because I didn’t see their response right away, but after I said go ahead it was fixed in like 20 minutes. This is amazing customer service and gives a clear understanding and justification for the cost. Yes the app does a ton, but the customer service is like nothing I’ve experienced with a digital product. If you are on the fence, it is worth every dollar!
After using so many of these apps over the years for my four kids, this one is definitely the best on the user end. (Our league changed to a different app, for things on the back side of registration, like keeping the certificates on concussions for the coaches and tracking the dates on background checks.) This has it all. Events list, rsvp function, listing player’s and parent’s names, automated event reminders if you want them, private messaging features, as well as the ability to set up a staff chat thread, emailing everyone from the app, score keeping, it’s all there. It’s worked consistently for me for a long time, unlike the new one our group switched to. (I didn’t realize how good this was until we moved to something else that really isn’t functional.)
My son struggles with his weight and many self esteem issues as most thirteen year olds do. I registered my son with the “Bears” because of all of the amazing things that I’ve heard about the coaches as well as the team players like “the coaches build the young men up, their supportive, helpful, & understanding “. And so far I can confirm that this is all true. They work with my son on his level of conditioning. And his team mates omg it almost brings me to tears watching them help my son up from the ground or even along when his behind. This team is really a “GAME CHANGER “! And in my opinion a “God send”! My son quits everyday and it’s extremely hard hard for him to do the conditioning but we won’t give up because they don’t give up to On us. I’m grateful. Thank you Bears! We Believe in You! Sincerely Jays Mom.
I am currently on a softball team and I use game changer to reach out too my coaches and teemates. I also use it too watch my sibblings sports games, any games that I want to watch because I get board, support other teams, and too learn off of the teams I may play against in the future. I do really wish that I didn't have to have premium to look over some plays or hits I got because when I watch something like that I learn off of a mistake I could have made during the time. Mostly, I just wish I could do more on their without having to pay for it. One last thing is that sometimes whenever I watch a game sometimes the lighting from video Is burry for a while then sometimes it'll glitch and I'll have to restart my phone and do all this just to watch a sports game. Otherwise I belive this app does deserve 5 stars. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
This app is an amazing way for me to keep track of scores and how the game is going sometimes when I am not at some of my softball games I use game changer to look how my team is! I really enjoy using GameChanger because it is just simple to use and it is just an amazing app I love it so much! GameChanger is so great for people of all age and more importantly it is so good for people who can’t see the games they can go on GameChanger to see! Thank you for making this app so I can just watch and keep updated seeing what I have to wear and a lot more! Keep up the good work and just know that a lot of people are very appreciative of GameChanger including myself parents grandparents and more! Thank you for reading my very long message and have an amazing day and keep up the amazing work GameChanger!?
I’ve been using GameChanger for years as the scorekeeper for my daughter’s travel teams, middle school team and now high school team and it is amazing! What a wonderful tool for everyone - for the grandparents who can’t attend the games in person who can follow along using the app, for the coaches who can look at and filter stats in an instant, for the players who want to see how they’re progressing, and for the scorekeepers who now have a streamlined method for recoding plays. What’s not to love about this app? In my opinion, nothing. Is it perfect? No, but nothing is. AND the developers are responsive and continue to improve this app so no complaints there! This is one of the best apps I’ve ever used. Thanks so much, GameChanger for making this scorekeeper’s job easier!
My son has played almost every sport, and we always try to keep the family up to date on games when we can because not everyone can make his games. When GameChanger came out and I showed my 92 year old grandfather that he could listen and watch the games he was excited. He’s an old coach and my son ( his great grandson) is one of the only grandchildren that plays sports, so this gives him an avenue to be able to see his games and enjoy it when he can’t travel. Every feature is helpful and easy to use . You can pay and get streaming games or stay free and get the play by play field diagram. It tracks stats and let’s you know how your player is doing. This is definitely a well thought out app. Awesome job.
I love Gamechanger so much!! I play on two softball teams and this app helps me keep track of all my games and practices. This app is very easy to navigate and even my grandparents were able to figure it out. I’ve used other apps in the past that are very hard to navigate and this one is just much better. I love how you can choose your role as a player, parent/guardian, or family/friend. This is good for people who don’t want to be involved in the messages in Gamechanger. I love how my coaches can take a video so my relatives are able to watch from their homes. I also love how Gamechanger creates stats for each player. Overall, Gamechanger has been super helpful to me and my family members and it’s definitely worth using!!
Love this app — by far the easiest to score a game once you get the hang of it. But there are two issues with the built-in live streaming that need to be addressed: 1) The stream is unstable and stops sometimes on its own. This causes all viewers to lose connection and the stream to have to be restarted by the operator manually, resulting in missed plays from both the live stream and the video recording. 2) The app needs to recognize the type of phone being used for streaming and allow the choice of camera lenses and/or zoom functions. It is using the 1x on my iPhone 12 Pro, but I would want to use the .5x wide angle to get both 1st and 3rd base paths. I believe this is just a function of programming the app to allow a choice of built-in lenses. Please correct this ASAP!
Love the app. Only 2 complaints. Please add kickball as a sport! Take baseball and add 2 positions in the infield for 11 players total. Bam! You’re done. Also, let us reset our rsvp for the roster on each game. We’ve had rain every Saturday for the past few weeks so all the games were rescheduled. GameChanger help desk said we need to delete and reschedule the games. That’s a lot of work for 10 teams, 3 weekend, 2 games per weekend. And I’m just a captain. I can’t force my league president to delete and create a new event for all our games. Now I’m sending a million messages on fb and text asking everyone to fix their RSVP’s for the new date. All the other features are amazing. Live streaming, scoring, replay, your family can watch at home. Love it!
1. The “GO Live” button is inadvertently activated more than it is actually used by those that stream. Either put this feature behind the admin login access or reduce its visibility. 2. We need more than 4 admin slots or the ability to score the game needs a different access. Many travel teams have different parents score the game based on who is able to travel. The coaches obviously need to keep their spots, so having to constantly swap admins is tedious and unnecessary. 3. If I login on my ipad, I get logged out on my phone. I get you don’t want account sharing, but I have multiple devices and you could support me being logged in using them inside my apple account.
I love this app and use it for my sons baseball team to schedule and score games. One suggestion I have to improve the app is when searching for the opponent team, allow the ability to search for just a state instead of requiring both city and state. Most times you don’t know what city the team is from to enter and the app requires both city and state for the location search field. I always have to leave the location field blank and then have to scan through hundreds of search results from teams all across the country that uses the same team name. Allowing the ability to search by just state will reduce the search results dramatically.
The app is nice and we love the streaming. A few thing we had to figure out on our own. We were not able to log in with the same account on two devices like it says you can. If you do games created can’t be seen on other device or by team. We were able to resolve by having one account stream and a different account score. Live streaming is great. It would be nice to either be able to cast to a device (smart TVs, fire stick) or have the app available for those or even a website that would allow the ability to watch the live streams so everyone doesn’t need to crowd around a phone to watch.
I missed an amazing game where my son’s team came back from a huge deficit to win the game. Because of Game Changer I was able to not only watch the entire game the next day but video tape a few key moments to have forever!
This is absolutely the best choice to record stats and show play by play for any sport and for anyone out there. It’s so easy and accurate to use!
J’adore l’outil.
The only thing that’s missing is that you can’t message individual people in the group
Love this for having all my kids’ events in one app! My only suggestion is a poll option in the chat for parents - makes it easier planning instead of everyone having to comment
The best app
Excellent app for in game Scoring. Scheduling capabilities could be improved
I think paying annually for an app that we only use for half the year should be revised, Another idea would be allowing for parents to have access at the end of the season, or a “ season wrap” where the app gives parents a full review of how their child did for the season, all of the stats we would have to pay for as well as top video highlights,
Not a fan of the commercials you have now. It’s annoying to be honest. Think of other ways to advertise please
This app is great for capturing stats and digging through details to plans roster Ana batting order. The value of that post-game analysis is great. During the game as a head coach it’s very lacking. Ultimately I need to track my pitch counts and that’s really hard to do. I have to exit the stats go to the main page refresh and then go back into the stats again and go to pitching and then scroll across to pitch count. There’s no Apple Watch app for anything which would be super great as I’m standing on 3rd base and want to know something (score, count, outs, etc.) and I’m not allowed to pull out my phone.
The app is great, but I would love a way to stream games to my tv while the app is in the background (eg. chrome cast support)
Great app
It’s cool
It would be nice to be able to delete past teams.
It’s been amazing
So easy to use and to view scores. the chats are also really helpful and easy to use as well. in future maybe we could be able to see the game summary without the pro? in all a great app and so easy to use!
Get rid of premium, you shouldn’t have to pay to see stats and game clips
GameChanger is great but why block off the stories of the games half of the time and they say that you need to buy that membership
Great app, keeps us all on schedule and connected. Really helpful
When you can’t be there in person, GameChanger lets family and fans participate in games as close to being there in person as possible. We appreciate you so much!!
I can watch everything without being there
Great app for following away games for grandparents.
The GC app is amazing. So many cool features and detailed statistics. My elderly parents love watching the games live and watching the stored videos is previous games. Great job on the app!!!
Easy to navigate very informative
**Why GameChanger Is the Best App Since Sliced Bread (But With More Stats and Less Gluten)** --- ### Introduction: The App That Changed the Game (Literally) In a world where apps are as common as socks in a laundry basket, finding one that truly stands out is like discovering a unicorn at a petting zoo. Enter GameChanger—the app that has revolutionized youth sports by making coaches, parents, and players feel like they're starring in their own sports drama series. It's like the Swiss Army knife of sports apps, but instead of a toothpick and nail file, it offers live streaming, real-time stats, and the ability to make your kid feel like a pro athlete—even if they're just in it for the snack bar. --- ### Chapter 1: The Swiss Army Knife of Sports Apps GameChanger isn't just an app; it's a lifestyle. It's the app that says, "Hey, you want to stream your kid's soccer game live to Grandma in Timbuktu? Done. You want to keep track of every missed shot and assist? Easy. You want to make your kid feel like they're playing in the NBA? Well, maybe not that, but close enough." With support for over 20 sports, including baseball, basketball, soccer, and even water polo (because why not?), GameChanger ensures that no athlete is left behind. It's like the buffet of sports apps—there's something for everyone. --- ### Chapter 2: Live Streaming: Because Grandma Deserves to See the Game Remember the days when you had to describe every play to your relatives over the phone? "And then Timmy kicked the ball... no, not that one, the other one... wait, where's Timmy?" With GameChanger's live streaming feature, those days are over. Now, Grandma can watch Timmy's game in real-time, yelling at the screen and offering unsolicited advice just like she's there. But it's not just about Grandma. Live streaming allows fans from all over the world to tune in, making every game feel like the Super Bowl. Plus, with the ability to add a scoreboard overlay, viewers can keep track of the action without squinting at the field. --- ### Chapter 3: Stats Galore: Because Numbers Don't Lie (Except When They Do) For those who believe that the true measure of a player's worth is in the stats, GameChanger has you covered. With over 150 stats to track, including batting averages, pitch counts, and even spray charts, you can analyze every aspect of the game. It's like having a personal statistician in your pocket, minus the awkward small talk. And for the truly dedicated, GameChanger offers a Film Room feature, allowing coaches to review full game footage, tag key moments, and provide feedback. It's like having a highlight reel without the need for a highlight-worthy play. --- ### Chapter 4: Team Management: Because Herding Cats Is Easier Than Coordinating Schedules Coordinating a youth sports team is like trying to organize a flash mob—chaotic, confusing, and often resulting in someone wearing the wrong color shirt. GameChanger simplifies this process with its team management tools. Coaches can schedule practices, games, and even snack rotations (because priorities), all in one place. Parents can RSVP, share photos, and communicate with the team, reducing the number of "Did we have practice today?" texts. It's like having a personal assistant, but without the awkwardness of them knowing your coffee order. --- ### Chapter 5: Privacy: Because Not Everyone Needs to Know Your Kid's Favorite Snack In today's digital age, privacy is paramount. GameChanger understands this and offers robust privacy settings, allowing users to control who sees what. Parents can manage who has access to team chats, game footage, and stats, ensuring that only the right people are in the loop. It's like having a bouncer for your kid's sports life—only letting in the VIPs. --- ### Chapter 6: Athlete Profiles: Because Every Kid Deserves Their Own Trading Card Every athlete dreams of having their own trading card, and with GameChanger's athlete profiles, that dream becomes a reality. Players can showcase their stats, highlight clips, and even their favorite snack (because priorities). These profiles are shareable, making it easy for coaches, scouts, and even Grandma to see how awesome your kid is. It's like turning your kid's sports career into a highlight reel, minus the awkward slow-motion replays. --- ### Chapter 7: The Future: Because Why Stop Now? GameChanger isn't resting on its laurels. The app continues to evolve, with plans to integrate advanced metrics like pitch speed and biometric data. Imagine a world where your kid's sprint speed is tracked, analyzed, and shared with the world. It's like having a personal trainer, statistician, and motivational speaker all rolled into one app. The future is bright, and GameChanger is leading the way. --- ### Conclusion: GameChanger—Because Your Kid Deserves the Best In a world filled with mediocre apps that promise the moon and deliver a rock, GameChanger is the shining star. It's the app that makes every game feel like the championship, every player feel like a pro, and every parent feel like they're part of something special. So, if you're looking for an app that does it all—live streaming, stats, team management, and a sprinkle of magic—look no further than GameChanger. Because your kid deserves the best, and so do you. --- *Note: This essay is a humorous take on the features and benefits of the GameChanger app. While the content is exaggerated for comedic effect, the app itself is a valuable tool for youth sports teams and their families.*
With 2 grandsons playing different levels it sure keeps me on track . And when I can’t get to a game it keeps me updated on their progress 🥰
Loved using this app last season for my son’s baseball team, and we’re using it again for both of my kid’s teams this season. Also get to watch my nephew far away. I would like for Apple TV support to come so I don’t have to screen mirror the game each time, and just have it natively play on the device.
Appreciate watching games. Great coaches thru the years. Joyce Thomson
We need Gamechanger to work in Europe
Can you please have little guys making plays on play by play 🤞
I think it’s a great app. Team loves it, great stats, integration with live feed is awesome. It would be nice if there was a max runs per inning option.
Easy to send updates, videos and etc…
Great app. Would be even better with some improvements made to the group messaging features. (Ie the ability to create polls like you can in WhatsApp would be amazing).
Great app
The live listen was great
I am currently using this app for my school basketball team and it is great but there is one problem, you have to pay 20$ a month just to see stats or video(unless watching it live)
GameChanger Negative Reviews and Ratings
I use this app to follow my two nephews sports games because I am too far away to watch in person. I love watching the video but it’s been pretty frustrating to say the least. Premium is way too expensive when I just want to watch games and I don’t know that it would eliminate the issue I see. Can your developers work on a way to allow you to use your phone for other things like texting, taking phone calls, or all the “things” that normal people do with their phones, without going back to the video and getting a black video spinning for eternity? To get back to the live video I always have to “x” out of the original video and hit video again which ALWAYS punts to an add. I’ve even done this by accident. 😳For example, I’ll be watching video and see a notification for something pop up on my phone and tried to swipe it away but accidentally opened the notifying app. Then I try to quickly get back to the video and missed critical plays because I am forced through this cycle and have to watch an add, many times missing critical plays by my nephews. I feel like a prisoner to the app while watching games. Don’t touch the phone wrong, don’t do anything else. It’s SO frustrating. I also see a lot of issues with livestream pausing but I realize that could be a connection issue with the camera/phone broadcasting. But that too can force me to go through the same cycle. I hope you do take a look at improving this. I’m on an iPhone if that is helpful.
UPDATE: I was contacted by a representative of GameChanger Jamie. Jamie worked with me to get some of the footage he was able to retrieve from my son’s homers from the season. I am very thankful for that. Jamie also apologized for this happening and also let me know this is not how the app was intended to be used. I will use GameChanger in the future because of Jamie! I was paying for the Premium GameChanger and was pleased with it up until last week. After the season was over we informed the coach that our son would not be continuing to play for him in the fall. Without notice I was removed from the team and that was fine with me…. Until I realized I no longer has access to all the games he had played. The app would no longer allow me to access those past games. It was also his first season he finally hit his 1st home run. I reached out to the coach asking for some him to consider allowing me the opportunity to get access for a limited amount of time so I would be able to get those videos or make clips and still no response. I feel that GameChanger was a waste of my money this entire time especially after I paying the monthly subscription fee to be able to go back on games. It’s sad that one immature coach ruined my opinion of GameChanger. I hope that GameChanger considers making a change so parents can still have access to their kids games even after the season is over. BEWARE newcomers to the app!! I should have saved my money and used my own camera like I had been doing in since he began playing baseball.
I was thinking about paying for an upgrade but it has been so unreliable over the past 2 weeks that I certainly won’t be doing that anytime soon. We had a 4 game baseball tournament this weekend at a location with a very strong wireless signal. We had issues keeping our live camera feed online all weekend long. Game #3 it refused to broadcast at all no matter what we did and game #4 it worked for the first 2 innings and then dropped out. The live play by play was spotty also with hiccups here and there and it also dropped out in the 2nd inning of game #4 where the broadcast froze up and never updated until an hour after the game ended. It wasn’t just me either it was the same for everyone I talked to afterwards including my dad who likes to watch his grandsons games from afar. I had to leave the tournament before the championship game to go to a memorial service so I was listening to the live video feed in the car. The second inning the live feed went offline and the play by play froze up for the remainder of the game. GameChanger left me in the dark for the rest on my son’s championship game. Our team fought with it all weekend long and for the most part, it was just a big waste of time.
I Coach multiple teams for basketball, I reached out multiple times to get some customer service help and of course there is no one to actually speak with, or phone number to contact anyone you have to speak with a robot online or email. I purchased the premium level, because it leads you believe that is he only option to keep everything under on roof basically. Well, I thought the parents were able to at LEAST see their child’s stats if I purchased this level and placed it under “anyone” could see. So, I had all my parents go in lo behold they want more money out of each parent. Which realistically they already were getting it if some of them because they play baseball. So, it is not free to coaches because I already paid. Which I am ok with it was part of my deal now my parents were getting the stick with needing to pay even more money. It doesn’t even have all the correct information needed for basketball game. How do I get a refund from the 80$ I paid for no one to be able to see the see stats?! I’d rather just keep them on paper this is absurd. I’ll find another app that they can see for free and I can stream elsewhere. And… GET A CUSTOMER SUPPORT NUMBER!
If I have to get out of the app to answer a text or anything else and come back to it I have to watch a 20 Second commercial. 20 seconds! Then I miss a player hitting or catching. Why do I have to watch a commercial everytime I get out of the app and come back in when a live game is on????? It used to be a 5 second commercial - now it’s 20 seconds or more! When mirroring onto a tv and turning my phone to the side to get a bigger larger full screen picture, the scores take over the middle of the screen NO MATTER HOW I TURN MY PHONE! why is this even a part of the screen? Who wants to see the score over the players. Please fix this glitch! So to get out of it I have to shut it down and come back in - and watch a 20 second commercial! Then by the grace of God I have turned it juuuuussssst right and the scores are at the top and not the middle of the screen. This used to be a 5 star app but with these issues it has been sooo frustrating! We don’t want 20 second ads when we want to see our kids play ball!
The app has gotten better over the last year, but it still lags behind others that have been around and new ones that are coming out. A simple request to have a “Maybe” option for RSVPing would be so beneficial. I have been messaging the Customer Service Team over the last year a few times to ask about this and they can’t provide any answer except “That’s a good idea and we will pass it along.” Also being able to update a “Season” and “Age Level” instead of having to start an entirely new Season would also be highly beneficial. At least the notifications are now pushing through consistently. About 9 months ago there was a terrible lag. When tapping on notifications from home screen of iPhone, the message wouldn’t show in the app so you had to shut down to be able to see messages. Hopefully Team Manager can develop some updates that bring them up to speed with other similar apps. It would be a shame to have to switch to another app that is actually free which is more advanced and has better features.
Overall- it’s very basic. It’s nice to have the ability to quickly alert all of your parents rather than a text thread. Things that need improvement: please add a way to attach items to the notes section of games/practices such as field map pictures!! This is my biggest complaint, because when you try and send a picture via the team message option, the whole picture doesn’t show up and it gets lost within the thread. Sure would be nice to have the field map with the game info section on the calendar!! I also frequently have trouble with being able to open my message section, so I’ve had to had another parent send messages for me. I’m sure there are other things that need improvement, like some reviewers have mentioned poor update ability between blue sombrero platform on the team page and the app, but I recognize this as a problem and just know not to rely on it. It has potential, but needs some updates, additions, and fine tuning!! I also don’t have experience with other team apps, so I have nothing to compare it to.
Very easy to use however I think there is plenty room for improvement. 1) Allow members to choose when they get notified of upcoming events. Currently only the coach controls it. However, some like to be notified 1 day or 2 days ahead of time. Some would even like a secondary reminder 1 or 2 hours before event. So that’s limited. 2) Calendars are great to have but this one could be less cluttered. Don’t waste space for days that have no events. Only about 2 events are displayed on the screen. I’d like to see the app just have one line per event so I can see potentially see the entire week ahead. TeamSnap does a good job of this. 3) As a coach it would be nice to see that your message was read or received or acknowledged. 4) back to the calendar for those last minute rainouts would be nice to have a button or buttons to one click canceled or moved to new location which would also send a notification. Now you’d have to send a message to cancel event due to rain but the event still shows on the calendar as active.
Upgraded to this last week and scored our first tournament this weekend. The app crashed multiple times during each game, which I see is a consistent problem. As quick as softball moves I was down two batters counts & balls in play before I could score it… probably looked like a hot mess to any viewers (and was likely inaccurate). I don’t like that you can’t name the chats… or that the “team” chat includes allllll family members linked to a player. Grandma in Kansas doesn’t need to know where we’re going to lunch after a game. Our team logo/photo just disappears. I don’t like that I can’t see a teams roster after the game is scored or that the teams aren’t separate in the game schedule. I didn’t have any issues with the live streaming and received good feedback from our fans. However, paid members should have access to the video afterward, not just admins. I haven’t had issues with messaging. I’m still exploring the different layout and features, but the crashing of the app mid-game is just unacceptable.
I’m a parent of a soccer player and our team switched to this APP for this season. The team plays at least 40 games each year and trains three times a week. Players are responsible for checking in their attendance, but of course the parents have manage the logistics. I like that I can sync the schedule with my calendar, but here are my suggestions: 1. Add a search feature to the chat. You can’t find anything from a over a week ago or even a day ago depending on how active the chat is without scrolling forever. 2. Add time zone option for the calendar. The team plays games mostly in the CDT, but also travels to the east and west coasts for games. But the team manager has to send MANY reminders that the game time is listed in CDT and the “real” time is XYZ time. This is super frustrating for the parent that traveling with the player and the parent that is at home trying to keep up with the game. Please add this to your next development meeting agenda. Thank you!
From what little I’ve seen on the baseball side of things, the app and the ability to live-stream, score the game and see things happening is OUTSTANDING!!!! That of course having just played with it a little. I also think it’s great that they added the ability to live feed other sports besides baseball and softball and have added several sports, but the only thing lacking is the ability to live score the games. I understand you can’t do a play by play like in baseball but the ability to at least post a score would be great for those grandparents watching the games from afar can see the score live and don’t have to keep asking via text(offline from GameChanger) or on the livestream. Other than that, GameChanger has been doing a great job with adding things and keeping the game alive, especially in these uncertain times of the pandemic and some not being able to attend games. Maybe add that small change and I’d bump up to 4 stars, maybe even 5(rare for me to give 5 stars).
The app is Very simple which is good for parents to use. At the same time looks somewhat lower quality compared to other apps just based off of the aesthetics. That said ability to message Through the app but also email or phone call is nice. Sign-up is easy. Calendar is useful but again functionally and aesthetically pretty average. I do not know why it needs to show me every day both as a calendar and as a list. Would be nice to get rid of the extra days on the list except for ones with events. also would be great if you could share pictures and videos in a separate section because I think that’s a very useful addition especially for younger kids where a picture taking seems to be just as important as the game itself. Overall I chose it over the other apps because it simple, easy to sign up, and good for communicating. Despite all that it could be made a whole lot better with some simple changes to make with the calander.
As a parent of two kids I can’t always make it to every event and rely on GameChanger to catch their games. While I love the idea of GameChanger and its intent as a viewer, the stream is constantly pause, regardless if the streamer has strong signal. I’m constantly having to close out of it to get it going again and watch the same 30 second ad before the streaming to start, usually missing my kids at bats. In an inning I’ve had to reload over 10 times because it pause usually making me just give up on watching all together because it’s too frustrating. I would never pay the $90 a year for a subscription when it doesn’t work 80% of the time. Or maybe that’s their plan to make more money. If I purchased the subscription it’d work better and I wouldn’t have to watch ads. I rather have a logo in the corner of the game feed than watch a 30 second video over and over again. I don’t remember this problem a few years ago when they didn’t have the ads playing before the game feed.
Used gamechanger for years and loved it. Switched to team manager since they’re getting rid of gamechanger at some unknown time, and have hated it. There’s things I could do with gamechanger that aren’t capable on team manager. The app constantly is unable to upload the team chat, so players are constantly texting me saying they can’t get the messages to come up. It’s also limited on features. Once you create an event, you can’t edit the type of event but can edit everything else. I had a practice turn into a scrimmage, and had to cancel the practice and create a scrimmage so I could score it. I then had to make everyone rsvp again since it was now a new event. You’re restricted to a yes or no on events. Why not a maybe section and why aren’t you able to add a note to your RSVP. Other apps allow you to add a note so people can add they will be late or have to leave early. So many things can improve and I’m currently looking for a new app after all these years. Very disappointed
I’ll give GC credit for branching out to score different sports with this new app. I’ve enjoyed using the app so far for hockey, but you need to expand the stats for different sports. For example, hockey needs more to track than just shots on goal, saves and goals. You’ve only scratched the surface. You also have shot attempts (misses and blocked), face offs and penalties among other stats. I glanced at football and it was scoring plays only. Long way to go there. I used the original GC for baseball/softball and basketball stats as a sports writer. As I said, I like the app and the new direction you’re going in. (Update to original review below): A suggestion for all the sports. Can you make it so we can change the team abbreviations to something other than what the app comes up with. The older GC baseball/softball and even the basketball app allowed this. The new classic app does not. Just a suggestion. Love your products.
The old GC app is hands down better and easier to use! All I’ve had is trouble with and confusion with this new TM app. When I send questions to the app help I receive no response. This change will cost GC a LOT of customers! I coach high school and summer baseball and my teams will sadly not be using this app anymore (after 8 years) because of how downhill it’s gone and can’t get any help from them. Coaches don’t want players/parents to have access to be able to change their names on the roster. If you have more than one team on your list then good luck finding a specific teams schedule because they’re all lumped in together. It’s been weeks and all my teams still haven’t been moved over to new app. Using new app is slower and take way too long. You can no longer go in and edit game stats like you could in old app. These are just a few things I noticed after one weekend of using the new app! Unfortunately that old GC personal touch, high quality and care is gone now for some reason and I hate to leave but they leave no choice now.
First season with using this as Team Parent for our soccer team. Pros: 1. I like the calendar function. Very nice to be able to add the location for games/practices and directly open a navigation app if needed. The weather forecast is a nice touch too. 2. RSVP function is very handy. 3. I like that the kids can also be added. My daughter likes to know who’s coming to the games 4. Automatic reminder notification. Saves some time from using the Remind app before every practice or game. Cons: 1. Not being able to add additional parents once one has accepted the invite. This makes it awkward when parents are divorced. You have to ask one of them to add the other parent or delete the player and send invites to both. 2. An administrator can’t edit the players photos. I take pictures at the games and have photos of all the players. Yet I can’t add them to their roster profile. 3. It would be nice as admin to be able to set up notifications for when someone RSVPs. I see this more useful for the “no” responses, so you get a notification if someone isn’t coming. 4. Please allow more online editing. Right now I have to do most of it on my phone. I asked for a roster link and couldn’t edit players I’d already added. Overall, I think the app will be useful but there’s some obvious areas that need to be improved.
Having any live feed is better than no live feed and that’s how GC is getting away with this scam. But anyone with half a brain can see how youth sports are being ruined by greed. It costs basically a mortgage for kids to play, now it also costs to watch your kid play in person, and it costs to watch your kid play online… AND now we have to sit through inane advertisements even though we are paying for a subscription? And the “radio” feature which I’d like to be able to use while driving has annoying, purposely piped in fake static noise and the voice predictably cuts out literally every other second; who on earth approved this low quality product as a feature? And you charge for this? Don’t bother responding with your PR crafted rote responses about how ads “add value without interrupting.” How do you people sleep at night??
When creating an event, I typically have to search for the opponent. In the “old” GameChanger, adding terms would refine your search criteria, with additional terms narrowing your results. In this new GameChanger, the search criteria works counter-intuitively as an ‘or’ (rather than and ‘and’), so if I enter “Virginia Copperheads” I get every team that has either Virginia or Copperheads in their name, and if I add 15U, it adds every team with 15U in their name to my results! And the “Location” filter only helps if you know the town and state that a team is from; this would be much more helpful if you could only enter a state, as many travel teams are from a county or an area, not one town and it’s impossible to guess what town they said they are from. Please fix this functionality. The scoring aspects generally work fine, but this makes the ap very difficult to use!
A: I’d like to be able to hide or even delete old teams, but I can’t. B: I recorded a fielder’s choice the other night, the player disappeared from second base, then reappeared on the next base hit to score. We didn’t catch it and it caused a big snafu with the scoring. C: This is the biggest problem... THE TEAM SEARCH AND OPPONENT SEARCH FUNCTION ARE BASICALLY BROKEN. The GC baseball/softball app had an amazing team search function that allowed me to include city, state, and year. This app pulls up all sorts of wildly irrelevant teams from all across the country and various years. That wouldn’t be an issue if it still found the team I was looking for in the first couple results, but searching “Pirates 8U OK 2020” brought up teams in the first 8 results from TEXAS (#1), 2019 (#4), WISCONSIN (#5), and MASSACHUSETTS (#6). It’s infuriating. I’ve spent several minutes going through this terrible list and still can’t find our opponent🙄
This app is great. I’ve been using it to score and stream baseball games for 8+ years for Little League, high school ball and club ball. The app has been pretty functional with little glitches up until the last 6 months. I haven’t submitted so many help requests for an app ever. There have been so many app updates lately and this latest update (ver 6.12) is still wonky. Don’t get me wrong, I love the app, but since they’ve been “over developing” the app, all the legacy features have been forgotten like a step child. There should be a way to revert the app version back if the latest update doesn’t work out. My phone is currently stuck on the current version and I’ve resorted to using other devices on older versions to score games today. My last request to fix the latest issue is “still with development”.
I spiked this version better today. The graphics and font are cleaner. We tried to do live from the app today and it kept crashing. I had to keep restarting the live feed, but missed parts of the game since we are sitting right there watching the app to see if it crashed. I saw it was in Beta, which normally means it’s being tested. Do you know when this will more finished? Also, you cannot add family easily for players that already have family. I click on invite family and it takes me to the players information and will not allow me to add it just tells me I can’t change their Information. We have plenty of people that have a lot of family and we really need to figure out how to get them added. Please fix this as our families depend on watch the games this way when they cannot attend in person.
As a league administrator, the concept of the app being an extension of the website is amazing. Unfortunately the user experience is dismal. Typically a practice schedule is released while a game schedule is being worked on. Then more practices are scheduled between games. The way the website works, these are three individual schedules. There is supposed to be a one time sync between website and app, but it rarely, if ever, works. On top of that, the team’s manager (or listed staff, if that syncs) is the only one who can “re-import” the schedule. League administrators cannot. This is a manual action, which typically will say the action will take a couple of minutes. The reality is, it doesn’t pull in. Support is delayed in their response and frustrating to work with, but eventually they can sync on the back end. If you have rescheduled it makes this process a nightmare. Team personnel also does not sync except for one time, when the team is imported from the website. If you are a coach of the younger divisions you typically need time to find your assistant coaches, therefore you have to have the technical abilities to manually invite the coach to your team. All in all, the idea is fantastic but the execution leaves a lot to be desired. Until the app and website tie together in real-time, this app will give you a constant headache, keep you busy answering questions from frustrated parents, and overall it will take away from your coaching experience. Until a major overhaul takes place, as a league administrator my recommendation is to stay away from the app.
GC does a good job with allowing teams to schedule games, score games, and communicate with a team using the team chat feature. Those areas have been highly reviewed so I won’t go much into them - they are top notch. One major issue, especially for youth sports, is the lack of privacy settings. The only setting that can be restricted to confirmed team members/family are season statistics, which can be set to allow viewing by anyone, confirmed team members, or confirmed players only. The app does not allow schedules to be restricted from public view, nor does it allow scored games, plays, statistics for that game, and box scores with individual player statistics for that game to be restricted to just confirmed players/family. This is problematic, especially for youth sports, since game locations and times are accessible to the public, as well as the individual player statistics for each scored game. The existing “stat setting” privacy option in GameChanger does nothing to secure individual game time, game location, and game stats from public view as that setting only applies to season stats. If this app gave the option to hide game schedules and their individual games stats and plays from non-confirmed team members, it would be a 5-star.
It’s beyond frustrating with the new update from GameChanger. It is absolutely ridiculous that only baseball and softball families are now being forced to pay just to watch a live stream. For years, grandparents, extended family, and friends have been able to watch games for free, especially when they live far away. Now suddenly that access is locked behind a paywall? Youth sports are about family, community, and support. Not every grandparent is tech-savvy enough to navigate subscriptions, and not every family can afford yet another monthly fee. Taking away free live streaming feels like a cash grab at the expense of the very families who make youth sports special. It’s disappointing to see a platform that was once about bringing families together turn into something that excludes people unless they pay. And not all sports but just the major sports this app is used for. Capitalism at its finest. you should be ashamed of yourself GameChanger.
App usually freezes and won’t load game stream, box score, etc during a game. Also hard to load schedule. Happened over wifi and 5G.
Paying a monthly subscription and still have to watch ads continuously throughout live game stream. Don’t you typically pay to not watch ads???? Not to mention the amount of times the streams end or pause mid game.
The app is good for keeping score and having video but what’s the sense of you can’t see anything! No family memberships for Canada and who needs an annual subscription when baseball is only a 6 month season here. Do better and offer monthly premium and family memberships.
The app used to be great. It was stable. It was able to stream games. No worries since they’ve changed it and now that you have to pay $25 a month. It has been absolute garbage. Constant dropouts, freezing access issues uploading problems. Only allowing others to watch four games and then ransoming the rest of the season for $14 a month. Hate what they’ve done to it.
This app is great. But I wish 8 period game is available in this app instead of 4 quarter games. Also, hope it is possible to add plays in the previous steps in the middle of the list. (Currently we can only add plays at the end of the list, so if you miss any play, you cannot go back and add)
There’s was supposed to be an update to fix the bugs but it’s glitching even more .
GC won’t accept Canadian zip codes. Please fix.
This idea is amazing, I love every feature this app provides. however I do think its needs more user friendly accessibility. I find it confusing to navigate at times where to find specific details, even through I have visited them multiple times and I’m fairly tech savvy (toot, toot), nonetheless … I highly recommend!
I like the app as it is very useful to keep score of games communicate with other parents and get an idea of what other competing teams are doing My only complaint is that the game changer app has connectivity issues sometimes and on more than one occasion, I’ve had to delete the app and re-download it
Love hate this app. It’s been great to capture our teams data and performance. However app requires constant $$ to get the plays, video reruns while in use! One minute I can do the function, next it’s gone. Yesterday I could see my son’s stats. Now they are blocks and can only see when I upscribe Incredibly infuriating.
Not able to launch GameChanger after the latest update. App crashes as soon as it is opened.
Just want to be able to get stats (watching a game would be a real bonus) and lineups for my son’s team, but for $20 per month (almost as much as MLB, but not nearly as good!) or $130 per year, is not worth it for only 2 months. My son is in another province and would really like to get some info on his games. This app that the Sunburst League uses is cost prohibitive.
Paid for premium right from the app so I can see box score and videos and everything is still locked. Have contacted support and they’ve created a ticket but its frustrating when waiting to access something you’ve paid for. It should be automatic.
The app works great… but for after the game… being able to rewatch the game and make a few adjustments to the plays would help out a lot (ie change plays from hit to error and vice versa)
