The official app for Divvy, Chicago’s bike share system.

Divvy consists of a fleet of specially designed, sturdy and durable bikes that are locked into a network of docking stations throughout the city. Our bikes can be unlocked from one station and returned to any other station in the system, making them ideal for one-way trips. Bikeshare is a greener, healthier way to get around — whether you’re commuting, running errands, meeting friends, or exploring in a new city.

The Divvy App gives you access to thousands of bikes in your area — unlock and pay directly from the app and get going.

The Divvy App also shows upcoming public transit departures, including CTA ‘L’ train lines, local & express buses, shuttle buses, the Jeffery Jump Bus, Metra trains, PACE buses and the South Shore Line train.

Within the app, you can purchase the following Divvy passes:

Divvy Bikes Positive Reviews

Do Not Use Divvy BikesI went to Chicago for a weekend getaway. Had about a 2 hour walk from the union station to our hotel so thought “why not try out Divvy and explore Chicago”. I chose a bike that I guess wasn’t working properly and my SO chose the only scooter at that divvy station. The scooter worked great, however, the bike seemed to be struggling with pedaling. We decided to go park them at the next divvy station after a mile that took me an hour to ride since the bike wasn’t functioning correctly. It wasn’t locking in so I contacted CS and it seemed to stop the timer(so I thought). Fast forward to the next day and my card was charged $110 for a broken bike that I rode for 1 mile and for only 1 hour. I tried contacting CS and they toyed me around saying ”you’ll receive an email 24-48 hours to help with your issue”. To no surprise, no email was sent to me. I then went and opened up another chat and was given the same bull$hit. I decided to not be so kind after that and threatened that I would not be referring them to anyone else, and that they will not be getting a 5 star rating from me. It was about 30 minutes later that I finally got an email regarding that a refund of $97 has been sent back to me. All in all, I did not have the best experience and almost thought I was just out the full $110 for a NOT great ride. They were about to get a one star rating from me but since I got my refund (after having to be not so nice), I decided to give them a 3 star considering my SO enjoyed himself on the scooter. Save yourself the hassle, don’t use divvy, or at least the divvy bikes!.Version: 15.78.3

Divvy is my key to the city.Last year I signed up for a Divvy for all membership and I was nervous to use it it during the pandemic I started using it and gained confidence to bike all over the city, weather its to a friends miles away or a sunrise or sunset and even grocery shopping. The best things is I don’t need to worry about bike maintenance, it being stolen or lugging it up and down my steps like I would if I had a bike :) At first I didn’t like being limited to 45 minutes and having to check to see if there were bikes in my area and open docks at my destination, but it is not really an inconvenience and the mobility and adventures I have access to void those inconveniences :).Version: 13.38.3

Great service!I’m not sure why all the negative reviews, but I personally found this service to be awesome! I rented in Chicago and had no troubles at all! The baskets in front have straps to strap things down; of course you have to make sure you’re items are securable. And if not, put them in a backpack. I had a place to rack my bike both times. And the app told me my ending price each time. The Divvy/Lyft app integrates with Google Maps which was super helpful for navigation. The only suggestion I have is to add a cell phone holder so people can have the map handy while riding. Thanks for the transportation Divvy..Version: 15.63.3

Divvy Fan for sure!Divvy is the best ride around. It’s my favorite way to travel in my neighborhood and beyond. Mostly I ride the ebikes… 2430 rides so far covering 2785 miles during more than 1000 hours of fun. I carry the little blue Divvy key and that works fine for me. Now Divvy should extend the Divvy app to work on cellular smartwatches to let us pause rides and maybe do more. Often the Divvy app on the mobile phone remains at home because the full service watch is much more convenient outdoors. Yes, I’m a Divvy fan. Give me Divvy!.Version: 2025.30.3

Great service to have in the city, but with some flawsIts amazing to have these electric scooters and bikes all over the city, and locating one closeby on the app is great. I have 2 complaints: —They die without any warning, sound or indication until its completely dead. Check the battery, even if it’s in the charge station when you get one! —The first ride after you sign up they throttle the speed to max out at 10mph, and in a city like chicago they are supposed to only be used in the street with no bike lanes, which makes its incredibly difficult to keep up with traffic..Version: 2025.12.3

ExpensiveThe app works as it should and you can find bikes and unlock them easily assuming you have payment set up on your phone. Be wary of the day pass though as that only gives you the classic bikes free for the first 3 hours. The day pass is around $23 however. The e-bikes are like 44¢ a minute. We bought a day pass and rode the e-bikes for maybe 60-75 minutes and a classic for about 15 minutes and we paid about $61 total for that day including the pass. It’s just too expensive to enjoy. The bikes of both varieties functioned well but the e-bikes are a rough ride..Version: 2026.18.3

Mostly good appThe app is pretty good but for 2 complaints: - if a bike is “dead” (red light on) it still appears to count as available. So you might walk to a station that has 4 bikes only to find that all 4 of them are unusable - at one point my account was suspended simply because of an expired credit card and I wasn’t able to do anything through the app to fix it. Not to mention I received no email warning that my account was about to be suspended.Version: 12.9.1

Surprisingly good!I’ve been waiting for a while for a proper Divvy app. I didn’t care for Transit at all and Chivvy looks like it was abandoned. It’s nice to do door to door routing using Divvy, and even better to allow one time use tokens in case I didn’t bring my fob. It would be awesome if they gave Apple Watch support so I can get route instructions or the nearest station so I don’t have to pull out my phone in traffic..Version: 11.0.0

Love the app and ebikesIn the past I’ve had trouble renting citibikes in Chicago with getting codes, stations being down, no availability etc. This time, the DIVVY app worked great for scanning a bike. The standard bikes are heavy but easy to use. I’m glad you can have them for 3 hrs without returning. The ebikes were extra $ but well worth it. All in all the app made for a seamless experience..Version: 14.39.3

Great concept, bad executionI love the idea behind the app, and having public bikes is a great idea I can get behind. But the app constantly has misinformation about number of available docks or bikes. Just the other night I stopped at a station with “2 docks free” only to find every dock filled and bikes just piling up on the side. Incredibly inconvenient to have to ride a mile away from my destination just to walk back after already getting there..Version: 13.89.3

Where’s the Apple Watch app?I haven’t had any hiccups with the iPhone app. Works just as intended. The Divvy system is easy to use. But, please please make an Apple Watch app. It would be nice to Divvy to a location, return bike to a local dock, and then run around in the area. I don’t like running with my phone, especially when running gear doesn’t have the pockets for it..Version: 13.26.3

Weekend VisitorI don’t know what all the hate is about on this app. It worked perfectly for me and my four friends. We were able to easily unlock and ride bikes and it accurately kept our ride time. The bikes are in much better condition than the bike share program in my city. I will definitely use this service every time I visit Chicago..Version: 12.15.0

The importance of FeedbackThe app is simple to use and the updates make it better . For the developer, it’s important to leave feedback on those comments that are concerning just as if they were praises. You won’t ever get better if you choice to ignore it. There seems to be a lot of customer service related issues ...maybe additional training is needed. Just some advice ..Version: 12.4.0

Amazing!I just moved to Chicago this year and was skeptical on how often I would use the divvy bikes. I signed up for the year membership and am I glad! Easily paid for itself. I just took my 100th ride. You can view your stats like mileage, calories burned, and rides took. Highly recommend divvy! The app is super easy and convenient to use..Version: 12.15.0

Great way to move around townI love having the access to divvy so close to my house. I do wish the bikes were a little lighter. Going from the bike I own to the divvy bikes I feel like I’m carrying an extra 30 lbs with me. Also, we need more docks on the lakefront!! We like to bike to the beaches and it’s nearly impossible to find a dock close and/or with open spaces..Version: 12.20.0
