It’s a decent experienceI’ve been working as a independent contractor with Wayfair for about 2 years. Overall, I am grateful for Wayfair as it has created a pathway for me to create my own handyman business. However, I still feel strongly that Wayfair should set higher the compensation for the assembly of its larger pieces of furniture. There are certain pieces of furniture that obviously will take larger than 2.5 hours. For those items, a given Wayfair Service Pro is not even making the measly $20/hour and then will have to take additional time to write up an “extra time request” in order to bring one’s compensation back up to $20/hour. As a result, I’ve noticed that these jobs go unclaimed by any Service Pro and often have to be rescheduled. These customers are being inconvenienced, certainly wondering how long the shipment box is going to sit there before someone comes by to assemble it. Yet, in actuality, I bet that most of these customers would have paid even more for the furniture assembly to ensure that their new piece of furniture gets assembled in a more timely fashion and by a Service Pro who is being adequately compensated (prior to submitting an extra time request)..Slym3Version: 1.95
Worst app everMy account was locked after maintaining a 4.86 rating and doing over 200+ jobs . They claimed that they can terminate you any time for any or no reason if they choose. Do not rely on this app to support yourself. They do not care about the assemblers or their lively hood at all. They steal payments for jobs and only pay 30% of what the customer pays them for assembly. They only provide you with a access to the customers but take the majority and will take payment or close account if too many customer choose to reschedule or cancel regardless if it is of their own decision or by the support teams decision. I made the mistake of trying to support my bills and my 8 month old daughter using this app for the past year and was randomly locked out my account after one of their pro support agents named Charlie got into an argument with the customer. Now I have to move back home and start all over due to the short notice of the termination without reason. Also they are refusing to pay me for several jobs I have completed. I recommend if anyone else has similar issues to reach out to a lawyer and sue them because they are misclassifying us as independent contractors. When based on their policy and operations, we are considered employees under the law. They are merely trying to foregoing having to pay expenses and benefits for the assemblers. This app is very exploitive. I am personally gonna be taking them to court to press these matters. Great job to have, and fun to meet all sorts of different people!It’s very convenient be able to pick your own hours, and choose what jobs you want to take or not. I really love providing a service for people that makes them happy and get paid to do it!
(The only downside is that on the application I hit the contact button to contact the customer, and the correct contact info has never once been provided. This causes a huge problem because if you have a hard time finding their residence (in an apartment complex) ,and you have no way to get ahold of the customer, now you are late to the job and could possibly get penalized for it. It’s even worse when Wayfair’s Pro customer service line is closed. It’s something that I think needs to be fixed asap because it not fair to the customer to think you’re intentionally tardy when that isn’t the case. That’s the only reason I took aware 1 star.)

OutstandingI’m not sure how long ago I started doing this but I am approaching 60 jobs and i am very happy with wayfair. If you’re able to manage time well and you actually want the work you could definitely make a living with this app. I do it as a side job and it helps me get work for my own business. I do 1-3 a week now and leave my card behind once I’ve completed the job for wayfair. I have gained a handful of regulars and a lot of other jobs just by showing up and doing a good job and basically getting paid to promote my own business. I am professional and I am sure to clean up well and remove the trash even tho it is not necessary. Basically I am paid to promote my business 1 on 1 with potential customers. Wayfair is more than just work for me. it’s been a window of opportunity that has helped me grow and be more successful.
Wayfair is an employer that chooses to promote a healthier lifestyle for their pros and I say this because of the 5 star pro service. There is no better system anywhere, regarding these apps, I have checked.

Not as good as it once was!I have been assembling furniture for Wayfair for about four years. When I first started it was fun and you can pretty much work as much as you wanted too. Unfortunately the way it is now it’s almost impossible to claim a job and when you do get lucky enough to claim a job there is a good chance that it will get canceled. I honestly feel like I can’t compete with the so called Wayfair brokers who sub out claimed jobs since I am an independent contractor. Another negative is they lowered the compensation on most of the items where you used to get $64 for dressers, entertainment centers, and sideboards now you get $57. Beds you used to get $51 now you get $46. All this at a time when gas and insurance is more expensive. Now to rub salt in our wounds they come out with fees for cancelling jobs but if the job gets canceled you get nothing. They have turned a fun opportunity into something that is more of a headache. Good side hustleI’m enjoying working for wayfair it’s a good way to keep me busy in the mornings before other jobs. You have to stay on top of the notifications since there seems to be a lot of competition in the city. I typically only grab jobs that are really close to me to save on vehicle wear and gas. Customers have mostly been really nice and appreciate the help and some even tip. If a job takes more time than expected which has only happened a couple times, a rep will compensate you for the extra time, I’ve always been able to get someone on the phone immediately and they seem nice and on your side. Of course I make more money on my own jobs but in my opinion this is a solid side hustle to fill holes in your schedule and stay busy. I also like that they reward you for efficiency, paying you the estimated amount even if you’re done early, and they pay in full for customer no-shows or really late reschedules. Love the App and the JobI have been a Wayfare Service Pro for going on a month now and let me tell you… it has been so amazing! The App is so easy to use and even the Wayfair customer service dept is amazing at helping and getting your needs taken care of with no hassle and not to mention, all the ladies I have spoken to have been American and they are respectful, understanding, fast and friendly! Just in the 12 assembly jobs I have done, Ive brought in roughly $700 and thats just on the jobs within a 10mi radius from me! The payments come through very quickly, even if a customer is a no show, they do compensate you with no issue unlike other service pro services out there that dont care if you waste your time on going to a customers residence and cant complete the job. Also, when a customer cancels or reschedules, it IMMEDIATELY updates days prior to the service so its RARE that you deal with “no-show” customers!!!! Gift that keeps givingIf you are a handy man/woman I highly recommend. I say it’s a gift that keeps giving especially when you’re a giving person. I’ve had so many positive experiences with customers. Many of them treat me like family. The only thing that I want updated would be return jobs that has to be done by someone else. There has been times where I show up to a job and it was started by someone else and not completed for many different reasons. I think having the ability to know that you’re potentially going to be redoing someone else’s work better prepares you for what you might need rather that be extra time to take apart some items or even bringing knee pads etc. It could be nice if the customer service team reached out to verify what exactly happened and what would be needed for the completion of the project..Jamal JnVersion: 1.92

Great Social Security, supplemental incomeI’ve been doing this for about 18 months, I’m retired, this has been a great way for me to keep busy and make a little extra income as well. I don’t really work too hard. I only work about four days a week. I take maybe one or two jobs a day, I stay away from the complicated or heavy ones. And do not work Saturdays or Sundays. I only make an extra couple hundred dollars a week plus tips and I pick up extra handyman jobs along the way. I have met other service pros that actually make a living doing this, but they hustle and a couple that I met do about three or four jobs a day, and one that I am, that actually works with his wife as a team, and they seem to do OK, but they hustle, to me. DisappointingThe time Wayfair says they expect to assemble an item is underestimated, if it says 2 hours it will take 3 or 4 hours to assemble, they don’t count your driving time, 40 to 70 miles x 2 = 140 miles away and they expect that will come out of your pocket for a $27 or $36 job, they don’t pay for gas and mileage, The pay is not great for bringing your car, workers paying for the gas, the car insurance, your tires, your phone, they don’t pay for phone, there are no benefits, no health and no dental insurance. They charge the customer $100 or $200and offer you $45 to do the job. Abusive.
The worst is to have to call to request the extra time and wait for a review that sometimes happens and sometimes doesn’t… Keep your own tracking save the job numbers and hours,

Wow.Ridiculous to say the least. Haven’t been able to select a job for over a month. Before I can even see what it is, it’s claimed within seconds by someone else. I have completed hundreds of jobs and have an almost perfect rating. 4.96 stars. This company, in no way shape or form, treats employees good. Wayfair is often unprofessional, unreasonable, and unfair. They over charge assemblers out in the field if they can’t make it to a job, charging them the entire pay they would receive, which is not even half of what Wayfair charges. Wayfair also doesn’t look into jobs completed very well. I was late once and got the job completed. They marked it as a no-show and never paid me. Even after multiple calls and emails to them. I had even put it in the notes for the job it was completed the same day it was scheduled. Still no pay. Not trustworthyWayfair is a not a trustworthy company. Myself and other Wayfair pros have been with Wayfair for two years and more. We have been making a consistent income of 3k-7k. Some pros have saw the consistency and left there jobs to be a Wayfair pro full time. Recently in the past few months we have saw a major drop in jobs. Pros can’t not even make $500. It’s not that there is any work available. Wayfair have decided to use there third party service provided Handy(Angi Services) more now. Handy is a company that offer you the same Wayfair jobs with a degraded pay. Example a bed $9 to commute to and assemble. Low payI don’t mind doing jobs for Wayfair, I just think in fact, I know their pay is very low for installations. I work in the moving company and I recently had a customer asked me if I would put together four barstools, two nightstands and a long short table for towels in their bathroom. This was not on the order that I received for them for work. The apps model is similar to other handy apps, but Wayfair keeps HALF of what they charge customers for assembly! When you discover you’re worth more than half, join Tasker instead. Room for improvement!I love assembling furniture, and I love the flexibility that the app gives me to make money, but there is room for improvement. The first area of improvement is to change the way we claim jobs. The first come first serve approach makes it way too unpredictable to gauge how much money you can make day-to-day, week-to-week, and month-to-month. If you don’t have your phone in hand and the app open, you can almost guarantee that you will not win a job as soon as you get the notification. The last area of improvement I would say is to raise the assembly commissions. Most disorganized handyman type gig ever. They’ll have you arrive to assemble furniture before it’s delivered. They can’t even check their own tracking numbers.
You’ll spend lots of unpaid time doing customer service before jobs too, trying to tell them you also don’t know why you’re scheduled before delivery.
It’s a company that doesn’t respect its customers or service people. They also overcharge customers while under paying service pros. Think we receive less than half what they charge customers. I’ll take jobs because it beats donating plasma, but this is terrible.

Been doing this a while nowSo I’ve been one both Angie’s (formerly Handy) and Wayfair for years.
Wayfair has it right, finally. Angie’s is a waste of time, I am a contractor that use these types of apps to fill vacant space in my schedule and advertise.
The work does not pay the greatest, but if you come in with that attitude instead of I’m going to make bank your fine. They have a Us based support number that gets things fixed quickly when it needs to be, and it’s all good very little issues there. Chat is also available but I prefer for transparency to call on speaker so the customer can hear what’s happening.
Only neg is payout, it takes a while, it says 3-4 business days after completion of an assignment but I find it’s more like 7-10 before payments are released, that is my only hang up especially since I’m spending gas getting to these and it can take a lot in my region since I have a truck and it’s mountains. Roger DandreoRoger was punctual , friendly and very helpful . He did a great job and was very careful and aware of the room where he built the desk for me. I have many delicate and valuable art work on walls and shelving/tables. I was a bit worried about something breaking until I saw him enter the room and take notice of my belongings. Before I could ask him to be careful he said to me that he had to grab something from his truck. Roger went to his truck and came back with moving blankets / drop cloths and a padded mat to lay out all the parts and pieces on as well as his tools. This company is trash!Wayfair are thieves and scam artist! Do not work for this company at all! SchedulingThe app is decent, but you all are losing a lot of the jobs. Not having any ability to change the day of the job or the time of the day makes it so that I can’t help as often as I want to. I see jobs all the time that I would like to take. But it might just be the wrong day or the wrong time and I don’t have the ability to fix that. Wayfair Service Pro Negative Reviews
BooooooThis app is the worst. Nice idea but very poorly put together. Not sure how long the service has been up and running but it’s not good. Hopefully they start fixing these following bugs. 1. Automatically logged out. Terrible to do to someone when the app is based on who claims a job first. 2. Immediately a job gets claimed, now unless someone is sitting on their phone with the quickest fingers known to man, these jobs are getting bounced from one person to another so many jobs offered have already been claimed before you’ve ever tapped the screen. I’ve sent a couple videos of this happening. No response. 3. The only available jobs are 50 miles away. 100 miles round trip and I’m getting paid $31 hmmm seems like an excellent deal. Limiting how many jobs can be accepted by a single contractor is going to give you insight into who is doing good work and going to get consumers to tell others about your product. Build super users and get best quality work. You can even make a higher tier of service using people who have excellent ratings. Instead you’ll have 1 or 2 people with 50 ratings because they’ve claimed all the jobs while the other 100 contractors you have can’t get any ratings because all those jobs have been claimed. This app has its pros and consA few pros that I’ve noticed is that there are always new jobs popping up but they get taken very quickly and most of the jobs are pretty easy for the most part. Very simple as long as you know how to read instructions.
A few cons that I’ve noticed that need to be rectified asap are; they payments where very late for example i done and completed the job last Thursday and it’s now Monday and it’s still saying my payment is still pending like I’ve called multiple times over the weekend and they kept telling me that I needed to “wait until the next business day then it would be released via direct deposit” into my account but I have been waiting and still nothing. Another con I’ve notice is that when I do try and call they have me on the waiting on the phone for about 20 minutes!!!!! That’s ridiculous

YuckWayfair is a terrible company that will steal money directly from your bank account for jobs done or mistakes made by THEM . They will also alter your pay rate as they see fit even the day of a job - the phone service reps are rude half the time and don’t actually want to help you, one girl was rude so I hung up on her because why should I have to deal with that when I’m calling trying to get help?? Immediately after I hung up she locked my account because I wasn’t going to listen to her rudely speak to me for asking a simple question. They also will say it is only one two or three items and it will be multiple SETS of items, so not 2 items it will be 6- two sets of 3 items, they are fully aware how many items we will assemble and just lie to try and not have to pay as much. Angi Service needs to buy Wayfair.I used to work for Angi service. I did a lot of jobs for Wayfair through Angi Sevice. I think Angi should buy out Wayfair because Angi treated me a lot better. We got paid every day for the jobs we did. So if I did a job at noon the money will be in my account at 4 or 5 pm. We didn’t have to wait 3 to 5 days to get paid even though the customer already paid for the service. So that’s one thing I hate. The second thing is we were able to message customers through the app and if we didn’t want to work for that individual anymore we could remove them. Where with this app It doesn’t give you the information on the person until after you accept it. The third thing is we weren’t charged the same amount of money for a job we canceled. Within life sometimes things happen and you have to cancel last minute. Angi service will charge us $15 if you cancel. With Wayfare if the job is $40 and I cancel last minute I’m charged the whole $40. For felons with no experience.I’ve been doing remodels and construction for 10+ years. I am a full time firefighter now and with my 2 days on/4 days off schedule, I figured I’d start with Wayfair pro to pick up installation gigs on my 4 days off. First of all, they charge the customer 2-3 times as much as they pay their “contractors” for the jobs. There were orders 35 min away that were paying $27 for 2 hr estimated job. And they specifically say, job estimates could be wrong and the “contractor” could be there longer, with no chance of more pay. With the background check and the almost childlike instructions for duties, this is meant for felons who can’t work for someone else. Which I get they need jobs too, but if you are anybody with experience, don’t even try with these idiots. Also, if customers read this please do not choose to use Wayfair’s “expert” assembly. There will be a felon who has no skills in your home, and he’s getting paid next to nothing for what Wayfair charged you. Another Corporate DisconnectI signed up with the interview agent mentioning they’re would be plenty of jobs, that was not the case. A job pops up every 1-3 days and tons of others like myself are competing to snatch it. Worthwhile jobs are gone no matter how quickly I try to accept (less than 5 seconds). Outside of that, a lot of jobs have long commutes with low pay. My first cancellation, I had a change in thanksgiving plans with family and cancelled a few days out. My second was abt 24 hrs out from the job, wayfair charged me $15! This came as a surprise as wayfair isn’t easily transparent abt this policy. I appealed to no success, feeling it was a bit harsh. How much money have they taken by unsuspecting cancellation fees when they don’t mention it? Concept is there, but actually application is another corporately ruined sham. No Longer WorthwhileI have been a 1099 assembler since the pandemic ended. Back then gigs were plentiful and the company was a pleasure to work with. Since then however, the gigs have almost entirely vanished, the few that do turn up nowadays are without exception claimed before the app informs you of their availability or worse, are often an hour or more away by car, the company never accepts or acts upon constructive criticism, at best it offers platitudes as excuses for the way things are, has reduced compensation over the past few years rather than increased it, and would prefer to admonish and penalize contractors and employees in order to justify the management’s dysfunction. At this point being willing to work for Wayfair is a complete waste of time and energy. The company has no one but its owner to blame.

Broken Automated SystemThey do not pay you what they advertise. You have to pay gas, tools they don’t tell you that you need, ect. They pay you on the job type not how many parts there are. This you can get paid $40 for a 8 hour job. If you don’t check in right you won’t get paid the extra and even if you do they put it under review for how long it took, even though you took no breaks and went as fast as you could. Stay away They have “finance issues” can’t pay for jobs I competed, lack of jobsDo not waste your time or effort, if you actually even get a job available the pay is terrible less than $15 dollars an hour if that, also the 1 job I was able to get they still haven’t sent my payment to my bank despite sending me emails saying they released my funds to my bank. I called my bank they haven’t sent a dime. I have called support mutiple times, they said they are having “finance issues with the payments” from my specific date , and the “finance team is aware of it but no resolutions” sounds fishy to me.

I think it’s time to sit down to reevaluate the situationIt’s just unreasonable to punish your workers that work off of an app that has so many flaws with it. There’s been a handful of times now that I’ve been fined and even put on probation for situations that were out of my control that were due to problems within the app. As it is the pay for doing the jobs is hardly worth the time to do them especially when we apparently make the difference between a unhappy customer and a satisfied returning one (the reason I was told for such harsh fines/punishment) but then to fine us an amount with an amount almost equal to most the job payouts is just ridiculous. App steeling your monyThis app is the worst app i have ever worked with. They give you a ticket for two pieces, then the consul one and they push you to work with the half price when I called the support they told me that they care about the customer and if you don’t like it, just cancel it the problem that they will charge me for a cancellation fees and doesn’t want to cancel it from their side. It is another way to steal the money. The agent that I talk with they were not professional. One of them she said you can take another ticket and it will be more money. And the other one he talks with me aggressively. Nope!I have uninstalled, reinstalled, upgraded, downgraded, reset my phone, logged out, logged in, and I’m STILL having issues with this app. It won’t allow me to pass the photo screen where it says I need approval yet it shows me the exact pic I submitted on my profile screen??? So I can’t view any jobs available and no one I’ve talked to on the phone has any other ideas how to help me. This is literally the only app I’m having problems with at the time. I’m getting “sorry we’re experiencing technical issues“ notifications from this app when the app is open at random times. It’s gotta be some better way to fix this. No helpI’ve been a Wayfair Pro for over a year, completed 131 jobs, and maintained a 4.91-star rating. Despite my consistent performance, I’ve recently been dealing with multiple issues on my account — mainly being unable to claim jobs in the app due to constant errors and login problems. I reached out to customer service several times hoping for real assistance, but the only response I received was:

We looked into the issue you reported about claiming jobs and found that this is not a technical error with the app. It appears that other Pros in your area are claiming the jobs before you are able to accept them so we ask that you remain proactive when claiming jobs as Chicago is a very competitive market.”
That response is disappointing and dismissive. I’ve been proactive and reliable for over a year, and I know when something is wrong with the system. Instead of addressing the issue or checking my account properly, they blamed market competition. The erratic scheduling, last-minute cancellations, and inadequate compensation for lost time are particularly troubling aspects of their practices. Use Taskrabbit for furniture assembly needs instead.Like all of the other negative reviews, this company underpays the contractors & wayfair charges the client double or triple the amount for the assembly. We get $41 for a bedframe assembly or $51 for a dresser, when the customer pays over $100. You always have to be on them if you don’t receive a payment or if the time of assembly goes over their estimates. Customers constantly cancel or reschedule jobs so don’t rely on this job as your sole income. The work they expect you to do for the pay sometimes is laughable, like a kids bunk bed for $51. If you’re a worker don’t waste your time, if you’re a client don’t waste your money on their assembly services. 👎🏻I tried to join Wayfair as a professional furniture assembler, but the app is broken. Every login traps me in an endless “Accept” loop and I can’t proceed to onboarding or jobs. Over the last week I exhausted every troubleshooting step: switched between Wi-Fi and cellular (including turning Wi-Fi off), tried different networks, deleted and reinstalled the app multiple times, signed out and back in, and restarted my iPhone. I carefully read the guidance/FAQ and followed every instruction I could find. I contacted support 8 times and only got the same link to register again — it changed nothing. Low pay scamThis app offers low paying jobs all across the board. Does not include travel time, gas , oil changes , millage and tools used and then your taxed at the end of the year as a “ independent contractor”. If a customs cancel’s a job less then 24 hours you are not compensated for that change in schedule, but if you cancel before 24 hours you are charged a cancellation fee. If a job takes longer than anticipated on more than one job they don’t like that and will fight you on it. The customer service is horrible, they have a number to call but always redirect you to email the company when it comes to money issues. The Truth0/10 experience. As a pro, this is one of the worst platforms I’ve ever worked with. Customer service is rude, unhelpful, and acts like you’re the problem for asking basic questions. They charge customers around 4x what they pay the person actually doing the work, then pretend it’s a good deal for everyone. They also tell customers we “work for Wayfair” like W-2 employees, which is a lie and completely changes how people talk to and treat you on the job. On top of that, payouts are a joke — money only goes out a few days a week (Tuesday, Wednesday, and maybe Thursday if you’re lucky), so you’re constantly waiting to get paid. Workers payoutThere should be a better way for us to get our money right away for the workers, we are doing these jobs having to wait 2 days for the release then another 2 days for it to hit our bank account that’s a week of work we have to wait a another week for it’s not ideal for us and makes my days longer because I have to now find out how to get money for gas in order to get to the next jobs for the rest of the week when I just been driving all week a hour away to and from each job and I can have 2 jobs a day ! Missing payment/Low payI had a very disappointing experience working with this app. The biggest issue was a payment discrepancy. I was missing about $30 from my pay and contacted support about it. I was told to wait because payments can sometimes arrive late. After waiting over two weeks, the money still never came. I followed up again and received absolutely no response. The pay is extremely low compared to other gig apps for the same type of work.

Jobs disappear in secondsI’m not sure in what area other installers are in, but in Miami, Florida the second I get the notification that a job is available it’s always gone by the time I even get to open it. It’s like throwing a piece of meat to a bunch of hungry wolves! I’ve had the application for over 4 weeks and have yet even had the opportunity to open the notification and accept the job! This is a joke and literally a waste of time. If you live in Miami and want some extra work I suggest checking other options unless you can have your phone in hand all day waiting for a notification to come in and instantly accept without even looking at what it is or where it is. Lie to you and retaliateSo I’ve had some vehicle issues Which are out of my control. As I never know when it’s going to happen. I’ve been stranded a few times did what I needed to by calling the customer and emailing wayfair yet I still get a no show even when I’ve notified everyone. But now they tell me it can take up to 10 days to send the payment to my account when for months it took no longer then 3 days. But now I’m seeing 4,5 and even 6 days before they even release the funds to my account. Which then take another 2 days to be available. It’s like they are trying to come up with more fines for things or make me quit using there app. But again this is what they say in the app mind you no where does it say that it could take up to 10 days to be paid!

They do not pay youI’ve been working for this app for 3 weeks now and still have not been paid. They’re several thousand dollars behind in payments and just continue to give excuses and tell me there’s dozens of people that haven’t been paid when I reach out for support. Hardly ever any jobsI have been using the app for about a year now in the Baltimore market and I can only book about 1 - 3 jobs a month. I get notifications of new jobs but as soon as I click the notification the app says the job has already been booked, I literally click the link as soon as I get the notification sometimes and still the job is booked already 🤔. If you like to work hardSo you drive all over the place. Deal with some nice people and some mean ones. All the gas you put in wear and tare on your vehicle. For wayfair to take over half the assembly money they charge to have it done. I thought maybe doing it directly would pay more then doing it through handy pro. But same thing here. Not worth it.
