LinkedIn: Community & Network Positive Reviews

Thanks and one usability requestTop rating primarily because your team is responding to community feedback. I recently submitted two complaints about the document view feature provided in our profile. The viewer UI was unusable on mobile in the past and the content of the document didn't display properly either. Since then it appears the UI has improved and the contents display as expected. One last request to improve the document feature. Why not make it possible for a native mobile user to swipe the PDF pages? Currently the only method is to move the small slider UI at the bottom. Alternatively if swipe is a problem consider tap affordance on the right side to advance pages. Worst case make the slider easier to target and test to make sure viewers know how to use it. Lastly and related the entire content view often moves when navigating the tiny slider control which seems odd. Since I use the document view feature as a way to share my portfolio it's very important that the UI doesn't get in the way of somebody viewing the content of my document. Cheers..Version: 9.1.397

It’s a great networking and learning app.LinkedIn overall is a great app. I have found great people on there and connected with them to build my network. Also, the learning courses on the site are on par with sites like Coursera, Udemy, etc. I will say that it’s very noticeable sometimes when they change up the algorithm and show me things I’m not interested in, or topics that are meant to spark a negative reaction, but that’s social media for you. One of my biggest complaints is their job section. I’ve applied at over 1000+ jobs through there site, and the furthest I have ever made was “so and so viewed your resume/profile”, or recruiters that ghost me, so I continue to stick with Indeed on that matter. While LinkedIn is great for networking, I do feel putting a face with a name on LinkedIn can work against POC as I have been ghosted many times by recruiters or companies once they view my profile. For example, I talked via email with Company A, Company A LOVED my resume…..then I see someone who works from Company A view my profile…..I get a rejection email a few hours later. Not saying this to trash the app, only telling my experience, but overall, I still would recommend folks to get a LinkedIn page..Version: 9.1.393

From Assignment to Career Development JourneyWhen I made my linked in it was an assignment for a professional course for science majors. Little did I know how impactful this application would be in the journey I’ve had professionally. Now it’s a tool I use in my industry. This is a social media platform for networking and collaboration. I wouldn’t be where I am today managing the territory of Eastern North America had I not I mailed my CEO 7 years ago. Now I’m 2+ years in the most dynamic career in the field of cytogenetics I love. I found cytogenetics through LinkedIn 10 years ago. I’ve worked in Fintech, I relocated to Seattle for an opportunity through linked in for 5 1/2 years. Now I’m back Home with the experience needed to be where I dreamed of being long ago, but never thought I was privileged enough to obtain. The reality is it’s a grind and this app is a tool. You can choose how to use it, its benefitted me. Great, but annoying flawWhy every time I open a video, that annoying interruption pops up telling me that I can scroll to the next video??? I don’t need to be reminded **every single time I open the app** sometimes even more than once. I understand that you can scroll to see the next video or post. I am proficient in Snapchat, Facebook, TikTok, Reddit, etc. Even if I wasn’t, I’m not gonna forget and I don’t need that annoying reminder every single time I open the app. I just want to enjoy the videos without that annoying sliding hand animation popping up and having to press the “Got it” button. Very frequently I have to rewind the video because of this and it detracts from my experience. Please reconsider this design choice LinkedIn. At least make it a setting to disable that reminder. It frankly makes no sense. It’s like someone reminding you how to make coffee every single morning. It’s like, I already know, you’re just slowing me down. I will update this to 5 stars if this gets improved. The app is overall great. Though I would also like better control of notifications so I don’t consistently get notifications I don’t really care about..Version: 9.1.405

Better as a creatorLinkedIn was okay until I became a creator. It takes courage to post but over time, like 3-6 months, it becomes easier. At that point it becomes a lot more fun and now I look forward to using LinkedIn and this app every day. Not sure what to write? Use the 2 year, 2 day, or even 2 hour rule (credit Nicolas Cole). Just post what you would have benefited from had you known it 2 years ago, 2 days ago, or even 2 minutes ago! Developers: thanks for your work on the app!! First request: wish the scheduled posts could be edited. Second request: wish commenting was just better organized for conversations. Like replying to a reply to a reply. Also wish that the best answers/comments filtered to the top. Would draw you in as a user to know that the first comments are the most valued by the community (when there are dozens of comments and you don’t want to sift through them all). Again thanks though for the great app!.Version: 9.1.340

Absolutely IncredibleThere’s this company called TravisMathew, they steal personal information from non customers and then email them relentlessly even after blocking and reporting. Thanks to LinkedIn I’m able to put these criminals down until the FTC or FBI finally steps in. Anyways fantastic app, I love putting down criminals who think they’re safe. My only complaint is that you (LinkedIn) think my comments are unwarranted even after asking this “professional LLC” to stop numerous times in numerous ways. Yall should take your security more seriously or else companies like TravisMathew will continue to prey on your user base For anyone else who wants to put them down —> TravisMathew. Look them up and tear them down! They’re violating EVERY privacy law and their HQ is in California… they earned and deserved their burning also don’t worry I already reported them to FTC and FBI… they’re not pleased with these scum bags either. Anyways great app, I love hunting these companies.Version: 9.1.416

Auto play video content is brokenNote to developers. As a long time LI app user, my settings have always specified to never auto play videos; I like to choose which video content I want to view. After a recent update, this selection stopped working and videos posted by some of my favorite content creators were no longer accessible to me. I would see a blurred screen and the spinning wheel. Finally, after searching all options in the settings section for the LI app for iOS, I tried changing to auto play video while on cellular and Wi-Fi and voila, the video content plays. Switching back to never auto play still won’t allow me to choose which video I want to view. So, I’m hoping you will address this newly introduced flaw so that users may once again choose to watch some videos and bypass others when using the LI app for iOS on iPhone. For completeness, yes, restart, soft reset, log out of app and back in, delete app and reinstall, and blame the entire problem on Apple for a few weeks before stumbling onto this observation..Version: 9.1.384

Good in some ways bad in othersI’ve been using the LinkedIn app regularly for the last 60 days or so as a job search tool. I’m not loving how under the jobs section it suggests jobs you’d be a top applicant for that aren’t even in the same state as me and they’re not remote. I’d rather do my own search and filter those out since it’s mostly showing me onsite and hybrid openings in other states. Additionally, the folks posting job openings either do not understand what Remote means or the options isn’t clear because a lot of the jobs that say remote, once you open the descriptions they have it typed out that you must reside in the state the company is in (which means those jobs are Hybrid, not remote and should not be shown to job seekers outside of that state). I understand the quick option of seeing jobs you’re a top applicant for or similar to jobs you’ve saved but when you don’t have the option to filter those it’s not a good option in my opinion. Additionally, as a paying premium member it’d be nice to have more in mail credits to use..Version: 9.1.342

My Personal Opinion About This Website Is:I would like to start off with by saying that this is one of the most amazing app I’ve ever seen in my entire life and I would like to say Thank You for all your hard work and support on helping me through the tough times and the challenges that I had to overcome but I am grateful for still being able to try and keep my business going for the most part but I just wish that I could actually find people that really care about what they are doing and want to exactly work now a days. Because I have enough experience in this field and I would and most certainly could grow up to be a really great business and successful company that would expand all over the state and maybe even the country if proper tools were available to me. But yeah so I couldn’t have done it without you guys so Thank You for everything and Have Yourself a Wonderful Day.Version: 9.1.374

Messaging has become terrible and extremely frustratingThe main thing I use LinkedIn for is messaging and the past couple of months with these updates the messaging has gone so downhill with more glitches and bugs than ever it makes me not even want to use it. Sometimes I click on a person to message and it just never pulls up the conversation or freezes when I am trying to hit send. Also, when you have a search going, it now disappears the moment you click out of the app to read a text or something which makes you have to keep putting in what you are searching for and it never used to do that. This app used to be great before they ruined it with pointless updates that only made things worse with no noticeable improvements. I would have rated 5 stars before these updates if that tells you how frustrating this has become..Version: 9.1.288

From coding since the early days to being a Red Cross instructor and even a cattle auctioneer, LinkedIn lets me connect with like-minded professionals and industry leaders. LinkedIn's community is vibrant and supportive, perfect for someone like me who’s involved in tech, animal welfare, and even the entertainment industry. It's more than just a networking site; it's a platform where I can share my journey, from attending Google I/O 2024 to celebrating my Twitch streams and engaging with fellow World of Warcraft guild leaders. For anyone looking to build a robust professional presence while staying true to their unique brand, LinkedIn is a must-have. If you want to build a pleasure robot. Let me know. Whether you're a seasoned contractor, a tech-savvy eGirl, or a passionate community advocate, LinkedIn helps you shine in all your multifaceted glory. Valuable Resource to find information and great people.I have met many of the best engineering resources and talent that has been a really valuable source for information, connecting with professionals, and researching newly available or soon-to-be-available technology that benefits our businesses and the industry as a whole. We are still a young technology with advancements that will pass you by without a resource and professional community that help keep you current on what is available and what customers expect. It really is a place for the business and professional community to find others others with experience and knowledge that can advance your goals much faster than even the smartest of us could accomplish on our own. Thank you all for the wisdom, advice, and guidance that have been so valuable over the years. Best wishes and prosperity to you all..Version: 9.1.370

Needs to do betterJob scammers are hunting on LinkedIn. I’ve been approached 3 times in the last 72 hours by someone with the same profile photo, same CV, different names, running a survey to find out if individuals are looking for work and then engaging with them to refer them to a Nigerian individual who charges for resume revisions that’s an obvious scam to get money from desperate job seekers. You have to help police this. It’s a reputable firm’s brand and tens of thousands of job seekers at risk. We trust LinkedIn, we rely on this site to help us grow professional, to be connected to honest members - we know you can’t be everywhere at once, can you set up a reporting site, so we don’t have to spend hours looking for away to tell you who’s a bad actor or suspicious activity. As premium members we job seekers expect you to have our backs as proactively as LinkedIn can..Version: 9.1.381

LinkedIn: the essential social mediaLinkedIn is a top level networking technology tool that allows the introduction of those working in areas of interest to its audience. It allows its patrons to connect with those who work within their industry from all over the world, gather the newest information to improve their skill set, and keep abreast of where jobs and pay are most plentiful. However, I believe it’s biggest claim to fame is bringing in those generations or individuals who do not participate in standard social media. Those individuals who have something to say from a professional standpoint, but still see the value in getting likes. Discussions on LinkedIn, bring in both an educated and experience level discussion on topics that currently impact society, making it essential when measuring a dynamic group of informed minds. Best regards, Francine Shannon.Version: 9.1.348

LinkedIn FunctionLinkedIn will get 5-Stars when their customers get to self-select which research study group we can join. For your informed consent… The goal is to compare the before & after mood & energy score of the LinkedIn employees and customers who participate in the 60-minute collaborative game. LinkedIn will have to be willing to promote my “Does Humor Work for You?” offer and handle the registration to the private Zoom link I will supply them. My reason is that I do not want to collect any LinkedIn contacts or give mine out unless the participant really enjoyed the game. The option to add their preferred contact info will be included at the end. That means LinkedIn must be willing to interact with me, a retired nurse who did not have the opportunity to do this research project when I had a premium account. To be invited to participate in the innovative online collaborative event, the answers to ALL of these questions must be YES: 1) Will you commit to full participation in a 60-minute interactive health edutainment event via Zoom? 2) Will you agree to complete the mind-body-spirit survey at the beginning of the game before the rules are explained and another survey before the event ends using the same device for comparison? 3) Will you agree to express yourself without foul language or belittling others? 4) Do you understand this is collaborative to help everyone do their personal best? 5)Are you of legal adult age?.Version: 9.1.381

Great to use LinkedInLinkedIn is a great place to network and build relationships. I would say it lacks on consistent exposure to one’s network. It’s the part that doesn’t make a lot of sense. If I have a network of 25k connections I don’t understand why we wouldn't see each others posts. There is a lot that could be improved on the exposure side of LinkedIn for those providing consistent daily valuable content. I hope this review is helpful and taken constructively. I also don’t understand the LinkedIn top voice program, many of the people that are Blue Badge top voices have little to zero engagement on their content which is a program requirement in the LinkedIn terms and conditions of the program. Again, many are providing massive value with amazing engagement that should be Top Voices in their niches! -Jason Miller.Version: 9.1.409

Making your career be the BEST it can be!⭐️With over 1 Billion members in over 200 countries..LinkedIn has been an incredible network for your career and creating a team of such significant power and resources that I would highly recommend you join. JOIN it now whether you are just starting your career, even if you’re still in high school, and want to pick the right college that will fit your skill set and your goals. I have been a proud member of this organization for many years and every day I check in when I can to see what new information is out there to improve my skill set, to network with all the great members that I am associated with, and it has always given me comfort in times of confusion and giving me guidance in times of expanding my career. The professionals you will meet in your industry, the current information you need to expand your career, and the friends you make are absolutely priceless! I can’t imagine my career without them! Give it a try! It’s free! You couldn’t expand your network with them by becoming a premium member, but it’s not necessary, especially if you are young and starting out explore.. they are also a very reliable and trustable site to search for jobs! Best of luck! Lauren Wichman🌹.Version: 9.1.409

Out of all the OptionsThey are the most thorough platform available, full of many different types of new beginnings. However, I have not had quality customer support experiences with them. I have been trying to utilize a benefit that they offer veterans for some time now, and something is not working, but when I reach out to them for assistance, I get very little other than a vague response. I have contacted them on several occasions, but it’s still a mystery to me why this opportunity continues to elude me. I have given up hope, and I rarely use (or try to) the site anymore because of this. It makes me sad because I don’t have the resources and abilities I once possessed, and this is the best place for me to focus on what I CAN do and learn about new opportunities. I was looking forward to this being the beginning of the most lucrative and rewarding career in my lifetime. Yet, I have hit another stumbling block instead..Version: 9.1.331

Great Networking**LinkedIn has been an invaluable platform for my professional growth and networking. It offers a unique opportunity to connect with industry leaders, peers, and potential clients, while providing a space to share knowledge, insights, and career milestones.** **The ability to showcase my expertise, engage with meaningful content, and participate in conversations relevant to my industry has significantly broadened my horizons. LinkedIn’s tools, like its job search functionality, LinkedIn Learning courses, and professional groups, make it more than just a networking site—it’s a hub for career development and business opportunities.** **Whether you're seeking to expand your professional network, learn new skills, or explore career opportunities, LinkedIn is a platform I highly recommend to professionals at any stage of their career.**.Version: 9.1.398

Linked In, where is your security? Where is your customer service?I have found a fake account, I tried merging two old accounts only to be locked out for over a few months now. This effects me professionally, obviously. Your “customer service center” is no where. There is no one to get in touch with. So, basically unless I write scathing review, I will not be able to access my account. I don’t like writing bad reviews. I would rather have a customer care team contact me instead, unfortunately I had to write this. Linked In, your security is in serious question here. Your service is beyond dreadful, and I wish I could think of anything I could say here to redeem your product. I can’t. I would really like my account straightened out. Thanks. Let’s see if I even get a response…...Version: 9.1.289

Notification IssuesI’m a job seeker and I’ve been using LinkedIn to aid in my search. However, I’m afraid of missing a job opportunity as whenever I get a push notification I never hear any sound, unlike with my other apps. I always see a red number on my LinkedIn app widget showing me how many new notifications I have however I never hear any sound. All other sounds seem to be working which leads me to believe it’s an app issue rather than a phone issue or operator error somewhere. Please help! Thanks! Also, unless I’m just missing it, I would LOVE the ability to select a custom notification sound within the app so I can identify a LinkedIn notification from all others. Thank you! Be safe! Oh! One thing I did forget to add is that I LOVE the section called “My Next Job Should Offer Me” where we’re able to specify benefits we’re asking for as well as the schedule we need. Oh and the Name Pronunciation feature is fantastic!!! Thank you!!!.Version: 9.1.187

PrivacyLinkedIn excels as a premier platform for professional networking and career advancement, proving indispensable for job seekers and employers alike. It offers a rich array of features and a user-friendly interface that facilitates dynamic interactions and professional development. 💡 However, it could significantly benefit from enhanced privacy settings, allowing users to conceal the start dates of their career experiences to combat the prevalent issue of ageism in the professional realm. Just like in the education section of a user's profile, this added flexibility would enable individuals to showcase their skills and experiences without the constraint of timelines, promoting a more inclusive professional environment. Overall, LinkedIn stands as a powerful tool for career progression, but adopting more nuanced privacy features would further its commitment to fostering equitable and diverse professional communities..Version: 9.1.335

Skill limits, and skills in job posting.Recently the max skills was updated to 100, however still that limit is bit enough. Why you could ask? Because job postings and skills did not match!!! As an example if a job posting requires Business Intelligence and you have Business Intelligence (BI) for LinkedIn are 2 total different skills. If you have Business Intelligence skill that have endorsements that were given years ago and today completed training that indicates the skill is “Business Intelligence (BI)” there are no option to consolidate them. Also based on LinkedIn job posting that applied I saw one same skill wrote as “Technical Specifications”, “Tech Specifications”, “Technical Specs”, etc. and depend on what have in your skills will match or not with the job posting. So please improve the skills section to use a matrix of synonyms that match with match with the skill, and/or increase the skill limit..Version: 9.1.369

Dates but has a purposeIn the beginning I thought LinkedIn was just Facebook for business - I always had it, never really used it. The downsides are the paywalls for access to content that seems antiquated. Everyone used their real names so finding them without having to pay for a message or contact is doable. I think what you pay for with the subscription is credibility and a spotlight presence on your profile. It kind of reminds me of putting an ad in the paper - again kind of antiquated thinking. It is good however in seeing what people are talking about, and all of the opportunities out there and how businesses professionals operate. Which is pretty awesome to see and interact with. As of now my opinion of this Ap has improved over time and I think I will continue to use it so long the features I use remain free..Version: 9.1.412

Unable to View InformationNormally I’d rate this app higher but for the past month or so every time I get a notification that there are job recommendations available, I’m unable to view them. When I go to the notification tab and click on the “view jobs” button I’m met with a screen that says “no matching jobs available in the collection” despite the notification stating that I have x amount of recommendations. I’ve tried uninstalling/reinstalling the app, clearing the cache, using other browsers and devices, and making sure the app is up to date when updates are available and yet nothing fixes the issue. I’m still able to access other parts of the site and look for jobs so this doesn’t hinder me too much. But it was nice having LinkedIn provide some additional positions to consider and unfortunately that doesn’t seem like a possibility anymore..Version: 9.1.419

Ugh another updateI wish developers would embrace a “less is more” philosophy around updates, especially those that change the UX. LI fills its niche well as the dominant social media platform (no surprises there)… but I’m here to discuss a different issue. After being harassed to update the app every time I opened it for 2 weeks, I finally caved and downloaded the blasted update. To my displeasure, the scroll function has been altered to have an annoying “momentum” feature. Why was this necessary? Why, for that matter, are most UX changes necessary? I will now be using the app less and going back to desktop because I don’t like this new experience. This isn’t just an issue with LI — I’ve noticed many popular apps changing UX in a way that’s counterproductive and irritating. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Focus on stability and security… the things people don’t notice unless there’s a problem..Version: 9.1.341

Scam job listingsDear LinkedIn Support Team, I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to express my deep concern regarding a recurring issue that has been negatively impacting the user experience on your platform. Recently, I have come across several job postings that raise serious red flags. These listings request sensitive information such as credit scores and credit card details as part of the application process. This practice is highly alarming and clearly indicative of fraudulent activity. As a user who values the integrity and security of the LinkedIn platform, I believe it is imperative to address this issue promptly and effectively. Such scams not only jeopardize the trust of job seekers but also tarnish the reputation of LinkedIn as a trusted professional networking platform. I implore you to take immediate action to combat these scams. Strengthening the verification process for job postings and implementing stricter measures against unauthorized information requests would go a long way in safeguarding the community. Furthermore, I urge you to raise awareness about these scams and educate users on how to identify and report suspicious job listings. Proactive steps in this regard would empower users and contribute to a safer and more reliable job-seeking experience on LinkedIn. I appreciate your attention to this matter and trust that LinkedIn will take the necessary steps to rectify this issue. Together, we can create an environment where genuine opportunities flourish and users can connect and thrive in a secure professional network. Thank you for your time and consideration..Version: 9.1.339
