Better than othersI was a fan of Guitar Toolkit, before it was abandoned by the developer and stopped functioning. That app cost $10, which I still consider a worthy investment considering the length of time I used the app. I downloaded GuitarTuna, and deleted it immediately when I opened it for the first time as saw it had a monthly subscription signup required to use it at all. Not cool. I would have paid a one-time fee, but a subscription doesn’t make sense for a tool that should operate standalone on my phone. This app works, and it appears to actually be free. Don’t listen to the reviewers who claim they broke a string trying to tune with this app. Definitely a user malfunction, if not trolling. As far as the aesthetics of the app, I would prefer an analog-style needle to the horizontal line guide, but it doesn’t change the function. The green box indicating “in-tune” is a bit loose, but the center line is on pitch. I recommend this app because it works as advertised within the limits of the iPhone microphone, and it’s actually free with no subscription paywall bullish¡t..Version: 3.4.3
Great App!A great tuning app! I'm personally a beginner in electric guitar, so I have to rely solely on tabs, since I do not yet know my notes. This app contains a multitude of different tunings, which I think will be very helpful to those who want to play songs not exactly in standard tuning! I instantly think of Nirvana songs, which having tunings that range from a full step down to just a half step. This app makes it super easy to tune to these, even when you have little knowledge. For people on acoustic (or electric, it applies to both), this app is able to teach many common chords, which i think is super cool! The only issue I have with this app is that it cannot detect low strings. At all. Whenever i'm tuning my low E (standard tuning), no matter how how low i turn the dial on my guitar, it says that it's too high, sometimes glitching out before it does so. Even when I'm tuning for different tunings—for this case i'll use a full step down—it cannot detect the low(er) strings like D and G. This causes me to have to rely solely on my ears to tune my strings. Not too annoying, but it'd be way more helpful if this was fixed. Overall, this app is great! been using it since December and haven't faced any major issues!.Version: 3.18
It is so goodI got the app last year and I have been using it ever since. I honestly don’t have any problems with the app. The app listens to it so nicely, and I even got my guitar teacher to check if it was tuned and IT WAS!!! I love it so much, if you are deciding to download the app do so. Tbh I had my doubts and thought that it wasn’t listening or just didn’t tune it right, but I was shocked that the app was made so nicely. Thank you Simply Tuner for making Tuning much easier. 🙏 I have no need to try to learn the cords because I have classes but if you do there are tons of other Reviews to read from. It’s a little overly complicated.For free, of course I expect some catch, and there were some basic questions and it took some time to get to the tuner. When I did, it was set to a guided tuning mode or something but it wanted me to start at the high strings, which is not the way to go, but touching the corresponding tuning peg on screen sets it to the right string. Next it is a little too fast to move to the next string. I like that it plays a pitch for each string, but it moves to the next string immediately as soon as it reads the note in tune; which means if you overshoot then it’s moving on to the next pitch while the previous isn’t quite there yet. It often takes a few tries to get there, so it should need the note to be in pitch for at least a few seconds, before jumping to the next. Otherwise if you refuse to pay for a tuner, this is a fine option, but a $50 pedal tuner will be much more convenient. The burst of notifications asking for a review immediately upon starting tuning is also not appreciated..Version: 3.21.1
My opinionI have learned more on the app Gibson than I do here. I have to pay an exorbitant amount of money just to learn and few small things. They teach you the wrong thing at the wrong time.I feel like the lessons are too hard for the mid part of you journey when first trying the app out. I did not look forward to playing my guitar the only thing that kept me going was the fact that I was gonna be able to get an electric guitar if I played my acoustic one. I’m not saying that I hate this app. There are some really good features about this app like the encouragement the teachers give you along the way. Or the easy navigation and the somewhat simple like terms they use instead of big words. I colors make it seem a lot more vibrant and happy than some others. Over all I’m the biggest fan because of the bad timing for teaching certain things, but also this is my opinion..Version: 3.18
DO NOT INSTALL TO TUNE YOUR BASSI hate to leave negative reviews and this app is not the worst, it proves quite well when using to tune a guitar and I use this app to tune it. However, if you own a bass I heavily suggest not to use this app for it. Not only is it super difficult for the tuner to even pick up a sound (I’ve tried it at max volume), whenever it does it will bounce around saying that it’s 2000 or even 3000 Hz too high or too low. When it says the strings are in tune there’s a 50/50 percent chance that reading is actually accurate. P.S. I’ve dialed my bass and my amplifier knobs every which way just to get the same result every time..Version: 3.3.5
So cool five starHonestly, thought that this would be a mess up but this is really good. It’s honestly very free. It doesn’t contain any crap because like I was just trying to look for something to tune my ukulele and straight up. I downloaded the easy tune app and it costed money but then I downloaded this one and read the reviews and literally it cost no money I just literally did my call and it was very easy. It literally took maybe five minutes probably lower than that. It didn’t break any strings like they say it does. The only reason I don’t give a five stars is because of the privacy. If the app collected less of my information, I would’ve rate it higher and would boast about it to everybody. App developers: Please remember the information you illicit from my phone is my information. I would like for you to collect less of it. I hope you are being judicious with it and protecting it. Worst tuner everI was trying to tune my guitar with this terrible tuner because it’s free but now I know why. It made me tune the first string(e) so hard that the string broke,now I’m gonna be in such big trouble with my parents and I’ll have to pay for a new string. I really hope that before anyone breaks their guitar by using this app they read the reviews and either pay for a really good tuner or just get a different free tuner and be really careful. Best free tuning appNot only is the tuner easy to use but you have almost every tune known to man… lol It kinda gets lost at first on the top string but as soon as you turn the tuning key it’ll figure it out… The rest are easy from there. Functionally beautifulThis is easily the best tuning app I’ve ever seen. It has a big catalog of tunings, and it actually has C Standard and D Standard already listed. A lot of other apps I tried, you had to add it to the list and you still couldn’t seem to repeatedly play the string. I had to keep stopping the string. But with Simply Tune, it just works. I can put my phone down on the table and tune my whole guitar in seconds. I also like the visual when you reach being in tune. Very satisfying..Version: 3.5.0
Best Tuner App YetI’ve used GuitarTuna for years, even paying for the Pro version for guitar and ukuleles in various tunings. All of the sudden it wants to charge me a monthly subscription, even though I’d paid for the full app. No thanks, GuitarTuna with your cutesy name. You violated my trust. Be gone off my phone! Chord practiceI was practicing some of the chords and I noticed the practicing A9 the video tutorial the man in the video described using fingers 2 and 3 and then when I moved on to the practice tutorial it shows on the bottom right to use fingers 2 and 3, and the picture in the middle far left, it’s shows fingers one and two. I’m sure it’s whatever feels most comfortable for me while playing it, I just wanted let you know for whomever developing the application..Version: 3.6.0

GoodThis app is so good I love that it shows you the chords and the strumming patterns that’s awesome I love the range of songs although I wish there was some more of each artist or like musicals or rappers Ik rap isn’t on guitar but I know a few Mac miller songs that would sound great on the guitar anyways 10/10 app overall. If i’m tuning this gets it acurateWow! Cool that it evan dose it better than SimplyGuitar sometimes. No really i tried and this actually worked on my iPad! And also i push myself with the advanced cords but i think it should access the cords i learn in SimplyGuitar 😀🙁. I love all the not-tuning and i love the tuner and fooling around with all the guitar’s evan though i only have an 6 string acoustic. GreatI got a ukulele two weeks ago and all the videos and apps I watched and downloaded only helped a little bit. But this app was wonderful but my ukelele sound a bit high but still, it helped and all the other apps were so confusing but I don’t know if it’s just me. Best easiest app to use…… and its free!!!!What a great app. And it doesn’t cost anything. never paid anything on this app.. and it’s reliable to a clip on tuner you figure with the open mic, you might get background noise or it may not tune it correctly, but they did it right with this app. I recommend it to everyone, please. Great free tunerFinally a tuner not behind a paywall. I’m a new player and I’ve been hopping between bands to try and find a music style I want to learn but they’re all in different tunings. Downloaded ~4 tuners to try and get D standard tuning but they were all paid or subscription based. Very simple tuner with LOTS of tuning options and completely free! Awesome app, but needs bug sprayI really like this tuner app. This is the only tuner app I know that is accurate and lets me access other guitar tuning configurations for free (and it comes with a chord library to boot). My only complaint about the app is that whenever I try to tune my A and low E strings, the app gives ridiculous readings saying that those strings are 3000+ tones too high. Easy to useIt’s easy to use. Doesn’t cost anything you can use the free plan. It’s cool. Try others and they always want you to pay pay pay pay pay, and this one doesn’t do that. Old days gone: HOORAY!Old days, getting together to pick. Whoever had a high-quality guitar was assumed to be in tune, and everyone would laboriously get in tune with him, usually took at least half an hour. NOW, guitar, banjo, and mandolin cases come out of car trunks, and pick up trucks, and Wow, everyone is right in tune! GoodI wrote a review a while back about how it stopped worked after using it for a couple times but ever since it’s improved and I always use this app to tune my guitar , I found that if you try to tune your guitar while having distortion it will not pick up the thickest string so just go into a clean sound and it will have no problem.Version: 3.3.10

A couple years ago I bought a small tuner but it didn’t help me that much, I recently got back into guitar and I wanted to play Open D tuning but I couldn’t find any good apps that had Open D for free. The 12 string guitar tuner doesnt do some things rightWhen I do the first to be string on my 12th string acoustic guitar it thinks it’s doing the lower B string, but I don’t even know how we would think that, even though I was pressing on the first B string, and for some reason, I kept on doing it over and over again, so I could even tune it and when I tried going to other strings, It kept going back to the first B string since it wasn’t tuned cause I couldn’t tune it.Version: 3.34

The one feature that I either haven’t figured out or that doesn’t exist is pausing the videos. 1 additionI use this app every time I sit down to play. It would be the attest tuning app in the known universe if it could do this one thing. When I’m tuning and pluck my string it automatically goes to th next one even if its + or -3 for example. And I’d rathe have the option to choose when I’m ready to move onto next string. Some bugsI love this app and I have been using it for over 2 years, it's never given me any problems until now, where i try to tune my 6th string and it doesn't pick up the sound and the numbers go all over the place. Works great - No addsI’ve been using this app for a while now. I’ve had no problems with it. It also worked for my bass player, and he said these kind of apps don’t usually work for him, so he was surprised. There are extras that come with the app, but I have not purchased it. Great app!It doesn’t ask you to pay and it doesn’t switch strings frequently and I can tune to any tuning I want except for E flat standard, which is OK because no one uses it anyway. It even tells you if you’re trying to tune the wrong string or not very useful would recommend for playing Nirvana because Nirvana uses different tunings. There’s even some songs on there that you can play completely for free. It teaches you chords and everything and honestly, I love it. This is probably the greatest guitar app..Version: 3.34
