Don’t buy. Sneaky in app purchasesSo if you buy the printer you have to buy a monthly subscription that will slowly increase until you are not able to print without those purchases. Normally you buy the ink prior to using it which is fair in price depending how much ink you use but again a monthly subscription. The only way to use your printer is if you buy a weekly or annual subscription ranging from $10/week-$70 for a yr. That’s where I am currently and can’t print frm ink already purchased unless I buy another thing. It’s ridiculous how this comp takes advantage of your business. Customer service is not easy to get ahold of and when you finally do, they’re rude l and not helpful unless you give your cc info, then they all of a sudden get helpful. Ads blocked my experienceAs a first time user to your app i felt like i was punished by not paying right away. i simply declined because i have no idea what i am getting myself into and instead of being able to experience your app i was hit with a 15-30s ad. it immediately puts a bad taste in my mind about you guys cause im not sitting here thinking "oh what a nice app" no im thinking "baby pampers" the ad isn't even targeted and baby pampers have nothing to do with me. wait actually i did thought i wet the bed the other day turns out, capri sun anyways i was like okay let me still give it a shot, so i go to connect my printer and i press select and i just think it's absolutely crazy, like top 5 crazy, that i cannot even connect my printer without paying so i closed it and guess what you get when you say no to paying? PerfectI had a really expensive old printer/scanner/copier (another good brand) that I loved for almost 15 years that I kept holding off on replacing. Not an engineerIf I EVER grasp how to setup and download with this printer I hope to not have to avoid my family because we can’t fax. I can’t use my app without downloading it with each use. Complicated & Confusing to UseI had HP Smart services FREE OF CHARGE when I initially purchased an HP printer and scanner. The services came with the device I had purchased and was easy to use with clear instructions. NOW HP does not provide tech support for “older” models of their own products, which forced me to have to make monthly payments for tech support in order to do simple tasks such as print, scan or fax a document. The “Smart” services I once had as an app on my phone was automatically disabled. NOW I had to upload a NEW “Smart” app via Apple Support and PAY AGAIN for a monthly subscription to be able to do the simple tasks of print, scan or fax. The NEW “Smart” app is not as simple or self-explanatory as the last “smart” service I had for FREE. The scans are way out of focus and require repeatedly taking photos resulting in wasted time, money and frustration. I have not attempted the fax because the process is also complicated to complete. A 3-day trial is free then a fee of $9.95 is immediately charged to you thereafter. This is a MAJOR MONEY SCAM & NOT WORTH THE HASSLE! Rogue appI have never learned to use this app. Now, I’m not even sure what it’s purpose is. It keeps on asking me for a printer and when I select the printer - my only printer- the printer appears one moment and then gone the next. Further, I receive reports of successful printing of imaginary faxes that do not exist to recipients that I have no knowledge of. On other days it tells me that it has unsuccessfully tried to send various faxes even though I have never requested a single fax to be sent. Terrible software, convoluted, directions are impossible to understandI have installed and used printers since computers came out. I have never seen such a convoluted and user-unfriendly printer ever. The Smart HP software system is very difficult, and the requirement to use the program to print through its software is so difficult to figure out, and convoluted. The directions are difficult to understand, there is little clarity to what icon or target they are talking about. For example, if you are working in Word, you can no longer use Word’s printer icon; the Smart HP requires you to go through the HP program. The directions say you can printer within the Word app by using the share icon, but there is no share icon on either Word or HP Smart that I can see. If you are wanting to print an email you have just written or received, you can print using the in-app print function, but there is no color, and there is no color on the print preview. Not too bright needs some work and expiredThe documents and maybe even photos and emails prints normally BUT THE HOLIDAY, greeting cards and all that nice looking stuff. No, No, No that feature makes you think your printing a foldable card but nope. Print one and you will see the layout. I tried all layout with NO LUCK. I tried from 2 different toes of printers too. Same issues. And the cards says 2022 but it doesn’t matter because it will not print out the way it shows you it’s gonna print. Dissatisfied without even using the app yetI purchased a HP printer only to find it will need the smart printer app. Keeping in mind I was looking for something a bit more plug and play, this was a small bump in the road as it was yet something more I had to set up. App printersBoth of my HP printers are always problems with setting up with the app. My old HP printer always worked. Every time when I didn’t need the app to use. If I load one then the other one doesn’t work. If I load with my iPhone, then add my iPad, one-off the two won’t operated it. Too Many AdsIts good it does what it says but way too many ads. This app has ads every 20-30 seconds or every 2 clicks on the app. This app has more ads than those free to play games that bombard you with ads, atleast with those games you only get ads for every round but for this app its way too frequent. Quick fix is only prompt the ad before the user prints or have a limit to the amount of print attempts the user has. Terrible printer and customer serviceAll I wanted to do is to know my ink level on this HP printer. I downloaded the app as instructed by customer service and I pressed the “I” and apparently I have to pay for the privilege of knowing my ink level. Poor service requirementsI didn’t know that you had to keep the subscription to use the ink cartridges from the subscription. Don’t update modem!Smart printer app & scan is useless if you get a new modem/router because it’s so difficult to change the WiFi connection to the new equipment. I had to do this, and it took several forays into the advice web, then lots of time on the phone to get help. It was such an ordeal that when I had to change networks again, I dumped my hp printer for a different brand.
