The app works ok but I cannot save directly to an external hard driveI have limited storage on my computer well, IPAD Pro. And would love to be able to upload directly to an external hard drive. Videos take a lot of memory. There is not way that I have found to do this. Even when I take the memory card and plug it in directly. The video format is not recognized by my IPAD. So I cannot select it to transfer it. The only way I have been able to transfer it is directly from the camera then to my hard drive. This takes a lot of time and effort then I have to delete the files on my computer to save room. It would be wonderful if you came out with an update that allowed me to select a location to save my files to. Otherwise The app is working ok. I can honestly say I have not used all of the features it has to offer since I just started using it this week with my new camera..Cwinckler71Version: 2.2.1

Was greatI am a mere consumer like the next Individual that has used this application, however, I enjoy the privacy; by that same token this application just before this last update was awesome for update and all the bells and whittles of sending photons TO my phone so that my attempt at editing can process. Now I can Not use the application unless I provide full and entire access to my Phones Full library. Why does the APPLICATION need full access in order for me to utilize the tools I was able to use before, like transferring photos, or updating my little camera so I can continue this most beautiful hobby that Sony introduced me and my family please fix this issue it’s part of the reason Sony is top tier, it not like other company’s have this type of smooth app but at the cost of privacy. So in conclusion if I have to use a computer in order to have peace of mind of privacy, then the price just isn’t right. We pay for the best and expect the best, along with respect for others and their personal choice to share what they wish. Please fix this slight inconvenience, I know Sony would never attempt to force anyone to do something they aren’t comfortable with, right. Great but has its issuesUpdated my review in 2025. This app is still buggy. I want to give this a five star review because it’s incredible, but there are so many issues. For one sign-on errors I get signed out and then when I sign in, I get errors and have to re-launch the app to successfully sign in. I also have connection issues. The camera never connects on the first attempt. It’s frustrating. I would really like to see more bug fixes so that this can be a five star app. to the team at Sony if you have a TestFlight and you’d like a tester, I used to actually work for PlayStation as QA tester I would love to help and support this app. This app is great. I have been using it recently to get some self portraits and practicing with it so I can use it with ease. The Wi-Fi access point feature is not functioning properly, though I have gone through the steps and I can’t get the camera to connect to my phone even though both devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi. Very Useful for Solo CreatorsI think too many people expect iphone level performance from these apps. This is the best one Sony has made yet, with faster low latency previews than with a tethered connection (idk how) on my mac. The one issue I have is that you cannot use touch to set the focal point, but you CAN use touch to set the tracking? Clearly the functionality is there so I removed a star for what feels like a simple oversight. Once that function is added I no longer have to get up so often to film myself and I can have perfect focus every time! The ability to manage a whole host of other settings is just icing on the cake. Overly Aggressive Demands for Photo AccessIf you’re like me and only want to use this app to remotely control your camera and see the current feed, be prepared for constant dialogue boxes asking for permission to your photo library. I don’t want to give it permissions as I have no need, nor desire, to transfer videos or photos using this application. I only want remote viewing and control. Is that too much to ask for? Currently yes, as it constantly keeps asking for photos access with no way to disable. I have to click cancel repeatedly when using this application. Developers please give us an option to disable this overly aggressive demand for full access to the photo library. Pretty cool so farUsing the: - Sony a7iv (v. 2.00) - iPhone 13 (iOS 16.3) I downloaded the new firmware as soon as I heard it was released, but was a bit hesitant due to the terrible reviews. At the time of my download the app had 1.7 stars. :-( I had the latest previous version already on the a7iv, so I decided to take a chance, and it turned out to be a positive experience. I went to the App Store and grabbed the new Sony app, then went to the website and downloaded the new firmware (v.2.00) to my laptop. I then put it on an SD card and downloaded it to the camera, all without issue. After everything was downloaded and installed I turned it and it worked well. I can now control my camera from my phone and have almost no latency as I watch the screen on my phone. I can control all my settings directly from my phone in real time and things seem to work really well so far. I’ll keep experimenting with the app and update as issues as they arise, but so far it works better than I expected and I’m happy with it..Rocky RomaVersion: 2.0.0

Upgrade to 2.0 from 1.10 (not 1.01)Sonys chat support was quite good. The Sony website describes updating from 1.01 to 1.05, then upgrade to level 2.0 . That means, if you have NEVER upgraded your A7IV, you must use the aforementioned process. IF you have previously upgraded, then your A7 IV will have a version 1.10, which confused me a bit. Once Sony Chat Support confirmed I had previously upgraded the Firmware because the 1.10 was showing as the current version, they recommended skipping the 1.05 (attempts by me to load 1.05 were failing) update, and instead perform the 2.0 upgrade immediately..Grider LeeVersion: 2.0.1

Necessary EvilI use this to get location metadata and has a camera remote. The problem is I occasionally forget to make sure it is running in the background after the phone restarts and I miss capturing the metadata. I’m not sure if or how that can be fixed, but it is disappointing when it happens. As a remote it is just okay. Navigation isn’t very intuitive, but I get by. I also shot in raw/jpeg and when I transfer jpeg files to my phone with this app they end up being duplicated when I upload the raw images directly to my photo stream via a card reader. It would be great if they could fix that problem. Anyway, it’s all I have to work with my A6700 so I use it..BigfeatVersion: 3.2.1

5 Star Creators’ App ReviewI’m starting this off with I’m in a wheelchair. I have dexterity issues with my hands. Using this App with my Sony A7RV has been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. It makes operating my camera remotely so easy. My son has now started photographing with me and having the ability to control the cameras settings remotely while he’s taking the pics candidly has been incredible for us. I’m able to watch in real time exactly what he’s focusing on and what the lighting looks like so I can make changes while he’s continuing to shoot. Certainly better than the horrid Imaging EdgePro: On my A7R5, setting up the connection has a more visible and sensible workflow, although slow. The connection seems more reliable. And tap-to-focus works on my iPad, which is an enormous improvement. Con: To connect to my iPad, I must turn on not only WiFi but Bluetooth, which is insecure. I must also turn off my VPN. Biggest problem: Swiping away -- to check the time or adjust the brightness of my iPad -- disconnects the app. That's dumb. Only quitting the app should disconnect. Setting up the connection again is slow and I've lost shots Way too much screen real estate wasted by controls. Massive Improvement with 2.0Prior to 2.0, I had been using the Imaging Edge Mobile app for my A7iii and now A7iv. It was terrible but it worked sometimes. The Shutter app ($20) was great for my A7iii, but would frequently be unable to connect to my A7iv, which caused great frustration. The new Sony Creators app 2.0 has brought with it massive connectivity and reliability improvements, as well as a general improvement in usability and UI. Annoying Pop UpsWhen you open the app it connects to the camera’s Bluetooth then wants to connect to a WiFi. When it can’t find a WiFi it wants to use the cellular data. The pop ups are annoying. Anti-virus Blocks ConnectionIt took me a long time to figure out the Norton Anti-virus installed on my iPhone was preventing the app from connecting to my camera. Beware of that issue. Once I disabled/deleted a vpn that was operating inside of the Norton program, the Creator’s app worked fine. Terrific Alpha to LR SyncingLove the update, finally a real “value add” app with one especially useful feature: enabling Sony Alpha cameras (at least newer models) to automatically upload photos and videos to Lightroom CC and Google Drive. The initial set up is a bit finicky, but the app walks you through it quite well. One issue: after initial set up, my camera wouldn’t sync to the cloud - “stopped due to disconnection from camera”. Works .. mostlyI primarily use the app to copy photos off my Alpha 6700. However, there is a very annoying an persistent bug with .HIF support. Any .HIF photo imported into iOS that has wrong EXIF data for rotation it seems. Images taken sideways appear in the wrong orientation on iOS until you start zooming in on them, at which point iOS seems to fix the issue temporarily. Now I have a ton of messed up images in my library and the only way to fix it, is to re-import them again via SD card / my Mac. Hopefully this can get fixed but the complaints go back to 2023 so ….PunSoloVersion: 2.6.0

Sony….. fix your apps please!Im tired of sony having so many different camera control apps. Recently bought a zv-e1 and learned that to do smartphone control it only works with this latest app. Why do they feel a need to release a completely new app every year. As well as keeping the old ones in circulation…. Its insanely confusing. Also cannot get the app to recognize the camera. Its shows up to start the connectiong process but it never shows up on the accessory list? Why are there so many steps in the first place?! The camera should just connect from that first selectiong but they make you go through a five step process. Just simplify thing please this app system is a NIGHTMARE. There at least six different ways to connect just in the camera menu! Why are there six? just stick to one and make it reliable! I don't six different methods to connect that are all programmed badly. I would like just one reliable one. And ONE phone app. Just stick with making one app and make it good, update it. Unacceptable Privacy OverreachThe Sony Creators' App is a major step backward in usability and privacy. While its core function—transferring photos and videos from Sony cameras to a smartphone—should be straightforward, Sony has made it unnecessarily invasive by forcing users to grant full access to their entire photo library instead of allowing Limited Access (as per iOS privacy standards). Most modern apps allow users to select specific photos for import. But Sony demands full access to all photos and videos on your device, even if you only want to transfer one file. Genuinely inoperable appI’ve spent hours trying to send photos from my my a6700 to my phone via this app to no avail. I’ve tried everything, searched and tried every tutorial. Nothing works. Photo Library Privacy is NOT an option: never-ending pop up requestAfter starting my SONY A7RV up for the first time and being prompted to download the Creators’ App, I selected “Limited Access” for my photo library. My intention was to limit access to a specific album I created just for the new camera. That’s not allowed. After continuing to get an in-app pop-up request that explicitly says to “Allow full access” to my photos, I changed from “Limited Access” to “None”. The pop-up continues to show up Everytime I look at a different tab in the app, or navigate in app anywhere. There is no setting to turn it off, and SONY’s support and FAQs have no mention of this or a resolution. We should not be forced to give full access. If full access was required, why even offer an in-app option for no access or limited access? Why not make it explicitly and obvious that we have no choice so we can choose not to register before full disclosure? Barely worksIt has been a huge pain to get this to work. I finally got it to work with my iPad but still cannot get it to work with my iPhone. Sometimes it does sometimes it doesn’t and the whole interface is very antiquated. I also use the RED CONTROL app, on both my iPad and iPhone which is amazing and quick the interface is excellent. Disappointed on this Sony app I would expect much more especially seeing what RED has done. Still the WorstSony has had YEARS to improve this app, but it is still the worst app I have ever used for any purpose. It is more stable than in used to be. That is the best that can be said for it. It seems like only Sony can take something good and ruin itI have an A7IV and I would recommend people have the app handy all the time. I could put my camera down somewhere and having the remote control was a big help. Then I found with DMF I could control the focus with the app and I’d give it a 5/5. However, they been making changes that make the app worse and worse. 1. I can no longer select individual photos to import to my phone. It’s now all or nothing. 2. It seems like if I don’t use the app for more than a day, I have to sign back into my Sony account. 3. It has become so sluggish. I was using it to get some golden hour backlit portraits of my dog. I had the leash in one hand and my phone in the other. Most of the time I pressed the shutter button I’d get an error. I was standing only a meter from my camera and it was super laggy to the point it was unusable. Outdated and low quality appThe app is constantly crashing and giving me a “not enough memory” error when there is PLENTY of memory (I even went ahead and deleted half my pictures). The transfer times (when it does decide to work) is painfully long. This app needs some major updates. Buggy Performance on 15 Pro + A7R VThis app worked flawlessly for the first week or so. The connecting process was slower than I wanted but it worked. Now every time I join my camera’s access point and successfully connect, the system auto disconnects immediately after. It’s absurd. It pops up some ridiculously long error message and asks if I want to report it, but nothing has improved. I can usually connect fine right after this has occurred but this shouldn’t happen at all. Don’t even waste your timeI have an A7IV with up to date software. iPhone is also up to date. I can’t connect to import images nor can I connect to remotely make photographs. I’ve tried weekly for months. I get hopes up thinking it will connect and it never does. Then I get a big message on my screen asking for permission to submit the error report, which I do submit. Awful popups, and why do you need my location to connect via Bluetooth?As others have noted, the popups in this app are horrific. They’re among the worst I’ve seen in an app. But the biggest issue I have, as someone who’d like to remotely control just the shutter on my camera via Bluetooth, is that the app requires location access to “find nearby cameras.” My camera, the a7 IV, doesn’t know where it is since it doesn’t have GPS, so I’m not sure why this app would need my location. New cameraMy new sony a1 ii asked me to connect to creators app. So i sat the camera down, jumped through the hoops to get the app and login, jump through other hoops, pick up the camera and it is talking about something entirely different. Creators app wants me to match numbers to pair which is great but says nothing about how to get back to that page on the camera. I went to the network page but nothing seems intuitive as far as pairing. This part of the experience with Sony mostly seems bad as i’ve had other images also. I’m a computer engineer. I tried once, never received the email… I tried again, received the email 15 minutes later…. I tried AGAIN, told me it can’t connect to the server. Connection issue.I cannot get the app to connect to my camera with a USB. Connects via Bluetooth/wifi no problem but I want the fast , reliable cable option. Even after trying multiple times to reinstall the app, power my phone down and also camera too. All settings are correct on the camera and phone too. DisappointedThis app is pretty much par for the course with Sony in 2026. Seems like every time I open it I need to sign in again, read through another poorly formatted user agreement, next, next, another user agreement, accept cookies, next, link your account, next. New Canada promote me to install this defective appIncredible how you purchase a top-of-the-line out of the box brand new camera from Sony, they prompt you to install this application and it won’t even let me create a new account and just gives continue errors every time I try and login. And I’m not even sure why I’m installing it. I just wanted to make sure I could update the firmware on this unboxed camera. Can’t get it to workWon’t connect via usb to iPhone 13 Pro Max. Says go to settings and allow access to files and folders, but it doesn’t show up there. It says restart the phone if it doesn’t show up, so I did and nothing. Wireless transfer initiates, but is either stuck or the progress, as indicated by the file transfer progress bar, is extremely slow. All I want to do is transfer files from the camera to the phone, not enter into yet another problem solving quagmire. This is not working for me, it’s working against me by eating up my time. Very disappointingThis app is slow and clunky and doesn't do the basics well at all. I'm almost sorry I bought the camera (a7cii). I just want to connect to the camera with my phone, pick a few photos I just shot, and transfer them o to my Photos app. You can't do that. You can only do a "differential download" which brings over ALL photos you have shot since the last transfer. And there is no option to save to Photos app where I could do a little editing. Worse privacy permissions than Sony’s older Imaging Edge app???The privacy permissions of this app have been the biggest disappointment in getting a new camera. This app shouldn’t require full photo library access to transfer photos from the camera. Sony’s older Imaging Edge app was able to work just fine with limited access, why can’t this one. Great products; terrible appsSony continues to innovate and develop their cameras. I love them. But this app is unusable for me. It is hard just to activate it. It sends a pin to my email which is expired by the time I try to log in. When you finally get that worked out, there are consistent prompts, approvals, consent requests…. I just want to use my phone or tablet as a monitor and be able to adjust settings. Take a lesson from DJI Osmo apps that just work. Cannot login to my Creators accountI updated my camera to the latest 2.0 release. Installed this app and I cannot login to my creators app account through this app. Keep getting an error message that says a connection to the server could not be established. I can log on to my account directly through my Safari and Edge mobile browsers but not through the app. I tried logging on when connected to my WiFi and just cellular. Heartbreaking.. Improvement NeededI recently purchased a Sony camera to start my “content creator” journey. I have TONS of space on my camera (SD card) and the device I’m importing it to have a large amount of space. However, I can not import a 15GB video from my camera when I have way more than 15GB on my device. It takes forever to load and then gets almost to the end and says “Not Enough Memory Space”. Harder to log into than my bankI just want to copy files from my camera to my phone. Both are physically in the room. Why do I have to log into a Sony account in order to do that? Every time I open the app I am logged out again, and it fails to log in, forces me to change my password, tries to get me to create a passcode, and has to send me verification codes to my email address. Can’t even sign inI’ll start with “I’m not a tech idiot.” I have a ton of apps including other photo apps. This is simply one of the worst and most frustrating apps I’ve ever encountered. USB Connectivity doesn’t workWhen trying to connect with USB it prompts you to change the permissions for the ‘files and folders’ app on your iPhone. But when you go to settings/ privacy and preferences / files and folders like the app suggests there is no option to give the app permission. Bewildering changesRemoved regular import in favour of broken differential import. If you culled some photos, have fun, they will be imported again next import. Barely UsableI’ve been a Sony shooter for years. This application, and the previous Imaging Edge app, are primitive and barely usable. The iOS UI is confusing, the handoffs to Bluetooth or WiFi are unstable and cumbersome. For background, I am using an A7R5 and an A7CR, at the time of writing, both from Sony’s current high-end hardware lineup. Both are on the latest firmware. Can’t connectI was able to connect my ZV-1M2 when I originally got the camera in November, but one day it just refused to transfer properly. Videos sent to my phone as a still image, even when using an adapter with the memory card. I can somehow connect my camera on my boyfriend’s new iPhone, but it refuses on mine despite the same app and account login. Not user-friendly!When it works, it allows you to remote-control your camera or transfer photos from your camera to your smartphone, which is very useful… except making it connect to your phone is like pulling teeth! 1- It’s not obvious 2- sometimes it takes a long time to connect 3- and sometimes it doesn’t connect at all!! 4- you get 3-4 prompt messages to connect. Also note that in order for the app to work, make sure that WiFi, Bluetooth are enabled on your phone, secondly: under Settings / Apps / Creator App, Photos have “full access”, Bluetooth and Local Network permissions toggles are enabled (green), otherwise it’s not going to work at all. @Sony, the whole connection process should be streamlined.
