BookBuddy: Book Tracker App Comments & Reviews
BookBuddy: Book Tracker Positive Reviews
Great for book collection and wishlistI used to keep track of books, movies, and shows etc. on plaintext lists, but these apps designed specifically to keep those lists yet also provide additional information and a better interface are so nice, this is the best one I found for keeping track of books. The app is updated fairly frequently for this type of app also the developers seem to care about improving this experience. Update: using this app again after not using for awhile and book collection has grown exponentially. I love the variety of types of categorization (categories, tags, physical location, and many more options including custom fields you can create. This is helpful as my books are all over the place-multiple physical locations, kindle, Apple Books, audible, etc. There are also many options for tracking progress and status of books. The design of the app allows for vast complexity in organization while maintaining simplicity in user interface and makes it easy to edit the metadata on the fly. I also own book track app, which also has Mac app, but the design and usability of Book Buddy made me confident going all in with this app. Hopefully, with Catalyst and other developments on the Mac, this app will eventually be ported to the Mac also, which I would absolutely pay for again!.Version: 8.14.0
Love it!Can’t express how much I love this app. I was hesitant on purchasing the Pro but I do not regret it. I can change the way I view my books (list, small covers, medium covers, or large covers). I can sort it in many different ways (title, series, date added, date read, genre, author, publisher… the list goes on). When adding a book sometimes the book doesn’t come up, but that’s okay because this app has multiple options to find the book— scanning barcodes, entering the ISBN, or adding it manually. Adding manually is such a good feature especially because sometimes the ISBN doesn’t work and I mainly read ebooks, so no barcode. BookBuddy also has different categories and tags that I can edit to help organize my books. It even has an option to add series. And when I add a book to the series, I can put the volume number of the book; BookBuddy then automatically puts it in order! My only complaint is that I wish the app setup was a little more “cuter” but that’s just the girly in me lol. Otherwise, this is just a few of many things BookBuddy has. I definitely recommend!.Version: 9.7.8
We love books!Happily paid the charge to put in as many books as needed I just spent a lot of time putting in one shelf worth and we have 148 already! It even shows our duplicates which I didn’t notice all of them right away I can add a format which is amazing as I have audible books as well! I am bummed that quite a bit on the first shelf had to be searched for I wasn’t able to use all of our barcodes I guess the ones that we had to search were older editions of Stephen king and dean knootz books but not a deal breaker I am constantly trying to guess which ones we have and now I no longer have to do that when I’m out searching at thrift shops I can add notes as well like hardback or missing cover or damage as well giving me the opportunity to replace ones that are damaged absolutely love it! We’re in the process of moving so I’m going to inventory all of the books that haven’t been packed yet and once we move I’ll inventory my daughters as they are already packed! I am so excited to have this app I’ll be using it for years!!!!.Version: 9.5.5
Best app ever! This is the best app ever. Ease of use, fast, pleasant interface, a small learning curve, and friendly & very helpful customer service. I have an office, clinic, home, scanned books, Kobo & kindle, and the location field alone makes this app worth it. Within a day of testing the free version of BookBuddy I was ready to upgrade to Pro.(Nothing’s free and I purchase apps I use.) Entering data is really easy. The barcode scan works great, populating all default fields quickly. Typing in an ISBN for look-up and manual entry of book details are options, too. It’s easy to switch out the downloaded book picture with a pic that you prefer. If you want to move a book from one category to another, this is easily done without going into editing mode. There are enough fields to keep track of most data without cluttering the app. I love this app’s simplicity. I wish there were a Mac version. BookBuddy’s organization helps me keep track of where books are when I need them and whether I own a particular book so I don’t purchase duplicates or later editions of the same book. I’ve only input a fraction of my library so far, a little over 200 books, and there is no problem with delayed response or crashing. I expect this will be true once I have most of my collection catalogued. One tip - if you have multiple books from one location, choose that location before inputting book data. Otherwise the books will be unclassified and you’ll need to assign each a location individually. Unless there is a batch feature I missed..Version: 9.2.6
Best So FarI have samples other library apps, and this by far was the best. Other apps seem to be more focused on some kind of social media element, which I was not interested in. This is straightforward - keep track of your personal library, and this is all I really wanted. The good: - highly customizable - thorough search engine able to find even most obscure books - easy to use - inexpensive for what you are given (and no ridiculous “subscription” - isbn scanner entry works flawlessly The okay: - interface itself isn’t anything fun to look at. - manual entry can be annoying and tedious The bad: - limited options for audiobooks. They essentially need to be manually input. Most of the audiobooks (especially the exclusively digital ones) have no ISBN, but some other kind of ASIN or something similar. BookBuddy has no means to search for these. I own hundreds of audiobooks, which means that in order to incorporate them into my library, I will have to do lots of manual entry to look up the book, edit for format and eliminate the page numbers, and replace it with another field noting total run time. This is something I hope they will smooth over eventually given that so many libraries include audiobooks that have been downloaded or else purchased through Audible. TLDR: great app, easy to use, super efficient and customizable, but not the prettiest. Doesn’t accommodate audiobooks well..Version: 9.6.7
An Evil Heart by Linda CastilloAn Evil Heart is a propulsive murder mystery that will leave you on the edge of your s until the last page. Inclusion of Amish tradition and dialect offers readers an inside perspective on this unique enclave of American culture while juxtaposing Amish religious ideals against a more sinister invasion. A young man is brutally murdered in Painters Mill, a small Amish town, propelling a chain reaction of inquiries. Who was Aden Karn why would someone want to kill him ir such a horific manner? Chief of Police, Kate Burkholder and her department relentlessly follow clues that lead them to Aden's murderer. It becomes clear that Aden was not the Boy Scout everyone perceived him to be. The case takes on an unexpect twist when a second body is discovered, intensifying the hunt. The citizens of Painters Mill find themselves challenged by secrecy and lies while the innocent pay the price fo the evil that exists among them. In this 27th installment of the Kate Burkholder series, Castillo has created a strong female antagonist who is a fierce defender of truth and justice, all of which contributes to a thoroughly enjoyable heroine in An Evil Heart..Version: 9.7.18
I simply love this app! I have my entire book collection with a picture in my hand at all times.I didn’t know how much I needed this app in my life. I am a true book lover. I have bought multiple books on by accident not realizing I already had the book in my collection. Now no matter where ever I am in the world I have my entire book collection in my hand with a picture of it. It also has a feature where you can list the exact location of the book. So if you have a book in a storage location, you can included that under the book’s profile. There is a feature for loaning books, borrowing books and a wish list. Absolutely love this app. It also tells you how many books you have ( for those of us who don’t know how many books we have.) You can included the exact price of each book, also it contains the list price a great feature for people who love to buy bargain books..Version: 9.1.2
Just what I was looking forThis app is truly what I've been looking for. I had bookshelves full of books that I have read and on more than one occasion I have bought the same book twice. This app allowed me to scan all of my books (around 300, and it didn't take that long, I added the books I've read on my kindle with the Internet search option which works well also) and add ratings and comments to them. Now when I'm at the bookstore I can easily see which books I've read and, using my ratings, I can tell which authors I really like. I've also emailed myself the book list and so now I have a backup copy in an Excel spreadsheet. It's been perfect for what I was looking for. Update: I have been using this app for years now (with over 1000 books) and it is still working perfectly for me. I haven’t bought or checked out a book I have already read since using this app..Version: 9.2.0
Exactly what I was looking forI wanted an app that was flexible and easy to navigate. I definitely did NOT want a social app (like GoodReads). This was affordable and met every need I was looking for: easy to add books, easy to update status, easy to look at from different angles (filter by series, author, genre, reading status, location, recommended by, etc). It doesn’t have the same bells and whistles as some other apps, like tracking your reading time and creating reading challenges, but all the apps that do that are expensive (note, you can create a filter view for date finished and you can see how many you finished in a given year. That’s cool and can help if you’re trying to reach a goal for a year). Overall very happy with this app and more than happy to pay the one time fee to unlock the pro features (one time fee instead of subscription? What a breath of fresh air these days!!)..Version: 9.5.2
Good App - Could Be GreatI tried several apps before deciding on this one to organize my home library. I was looking for something that would sort my books by genre and alphabetize them so I could put them on the shelf in order. I like that this scans ISBN; however, the majority of my books are older and can’t be scanned. It would be nice if this incorporated business card scanners so that I could simply take a photo of the cover and it would recognize the text. Instead I am using the search online feature to look up titles and add them. The other thing that could be improved is the genres. They get ridiculous. Nancy Drew mysteries will come up as fiction for juveniles, juvenile fiction, adventure, young adult, etc. Fortunately, you can manually change the genre, but it would be nice if there were a way to limit the options. I’ve entered close to 200 books at this point and have several hundred more to go. It is time consuming, but I’m looking forward to finally having my library organized!.Version: 8.12.10
Great app! Absolutely perfectI love this app so much. It really helps me keep my library organized. When I’m out and about and see a good deal on a book I want in my library, I can check my app to make sure I don’t already own that book. I also love the feature that helps me keep track of who I loaned books to and when. I have lost so many books in the past because I can’t remember who I loaned them out to and they were never returned. There is one thing that would change my rating from a four star rating to a five star rating. I don’t like how titles that begin with the word ‘The’ are alphabetized under the letter T. For example, I wish the book titled The Henna Artist was alphabetized under the letter H for ‘Henna’ instead of the letter T for ‘The’. Other than that minor detail, this is a really great app and I highly recommend it. Update— thank you for the response! This was perfect!!.Version: 9.3.9
Fantastic app, perfect in almost every wayIt is rare enough to find an app that actually does what you were looking for but then on top of that to have it be easy to use and to actually work without crashing, it’s like a miracle. This app is about as perfect as it gets for a simple book database - incredible flexibility to add tags, add your own classifications and even more amazing a super simple, fast lookup process to automatically get all the core data from the internet! A super fast & easy process to pick the image you want. In fact the whole app is about as intuitive as you can get. Honestly I can’t think of anything I would change or anything I would add. It just does exactly what I wanted. I hardly ever even rate apps much less write reviews but I had to immediately pay 5 bucks for the app and leave a review because I am completely, absolutely impressed!.Version: 9.4.5
Great app for big personal collections!I’ve been using this app for a while now, and it has been well worth it to keep our 1200+ books organized. I really appreciate how customizable it is, that I can group books with tags (big help), and edit as needed to uniform the info on my books. The database is big and being able to manually enter books from pre-isbn times is great. An exporting list option was my other big criteria in finding a library app, and this app has that feature and the export is easy to use. The two annoying things that would make this app better would be to be able to crop pictures for book covers as Also, there is also no way to perform a search and select more than one book at a time from the search results. But it’s been a great app otherwise!.Version: 9.4.6
Great appAs a spreadsheet, list-writing individual, I love this app. I really like how I can search by title, author, series, or a whole host of other ways. The 3 things I have on my wishlist for this app are that 1. I wish I could import my kindle library directly into it instead of having to type each book in manually and fill in all the details and 2. I wish I could print the list out, at least title and author, or export to excel so that instead of going through each book I could use a search to determine if I remembered to add a book. Right now, I have over 7000+ books on my kindle and I buy more. I don’t always remember to add them. 3. I wish there was a way to move between my books without always having to start at the beginning. It would be nice if there were a back button so that I could return to where I had been if I need to leave it to double check something else..Version: 9.6.2
Fantastic app with world class supportAfter using another app for years it stopped being supported and I had to find a new solution. I researched over a dozen apps and found that Book Buddy had all the features I was looking for. It is simple and easy to use, yet powerful. It is set up to sync across my iPad, iPhone and Mac, and updates happen across all three devices almost instantly when I add new entries to any one of the devices. I had a glitch initially when trying to import my data from Book Crawler, but I had outstanding and attentive help from the support desk - above and beyond any technical support I’ve ever come across. Responsive, quick and very very helpful. Everything works perfectly now thanks to their guidance. I highly recommend this app. I’d give them 10 stars if I could..Version: 9.6.6
WonderfulAfter getting past the pay wall ( which was only like 6$ which isn’t too bad considering the prices in other apps and it also being a pay once thing and not a subscription) I am really enjoying this app. With the large amount of books I have, it’s nearly impossible to keep track of them. I’m always so scared to get a double of a series I’m reading because I couldn’t remember what number volume I just read. With this, I can easily organize my books how ever I want and keep track of what I don’t have. I also love the many different options for putting in books, the scanning barcode thing is amazing and very useful too. I really enjoy this app for my library, now I don’t have to stress about my books every time I go to Barnes and nobles.Version: 9.7.14
Great for us teachersI started with the free version and then quickly upgraded to the plus which I’ve had for a little over 3 years. I teach middle school and I’m constantly checking books in and out. Some suggestions/wishes I have are the options of uploading a document to have all students names at once, like a CV card or something? I don’t know what those are called. That as well as it would be great if I could simply scan the book when its time to loan it out and then return it. Searching each time, whether it’s checking out or returning, is time consuming. This is definitely the best app to keep a library organized and I love having knowledge of all the books I have and all the ones checked out. I even use this for my teacher books since I loan out Kagan books and reading resource materials! Excellent app but just a few minor fixes would get it 5 stars from me..Version: 8.10.2
Please allow libraries to be connected to more than one account.I would love to give this app 5 stars. Once the feature is added(or if it already exists and someone can help me get it to work) I will modify to 5 stars. My wife and I have a shared library of books at home that are a mixture of her books and my books. I would love there to be a feature where I could link my account to her account(both of us would still happily pay the premium fee) so that we can both have our full library in both our apps, but I can track the books I’ve read from it separately from her tracking the ones that she has read. I think a lot of couples/families would appreciate this feature. Again, if this already exists and I’m too dense to figure out how to do it, please let me know how and I’ll amend my review to 5 stars. I love the app!.Version: 9.6.7
Perfect …well, almostI never take the time to write a review even when I’m happy with something. That is a habit I must change. Anyway, I felt compelled to write this review because this app seems to have been sent from heaven to me. I have had other apps for my book collection but they were all so tedious. The ability to scan multiple books at once makes this app stand far above the others I’ve found. And the amount of info it pulls from the online resources gives you everything you might want at one glance. This app was definitely worth the $10. I would like to be able to select more than one book and then apply some action such as moving to a certain category or apply a similar group or tag. That would make this app perfect..Version: 9.5.2
The Best Library App!I don’t ever leave reviews for apps, but this app is so good I had to let everyone know. The interface is simple and straight to the point, which I love. It has so many options for tracking and categorizing your books, which is so important. You can track where you purchased books, the date purchased, where the book is physically located, and whether you’ve loaned it out and to who. There’s so many more options too that I can’t include it all. There’s also options to track books you want to own with the wish list feature and books you’ve borrowed from other people, which I find SO helpful. I would recommend this app to absolutely everyone who owns books and wants to track them..Version: 9.7.7
Enjoying the appI am enjoying the app very much. We are a home school family and have many books coming and going from multiple libraries. Keeping track of them all can be a crazy task. With this app I can enter in all of the books as I check them out and know quickly what books we have. I really like the feature of returning the books. Sometimes our libraries may not get a returned book scanned in and I comes up over due. But I have no way to prove I have returned it. With this app I can have a record I have returned it. One change I would make to this app would to allow scanning in movies, cds, magazines, anything that could be checked out in a library. This way app users could keep track of these loaned items also. Thank you for a sanity saver!.Version: 8.8.9
Extremely helpful. Only a few minor complaints.I used to use a spreadsheet in Dropbox to keep track of my book collection, but that only works when I remember to update it when I get something, which I couldn’t do from my phone while shopping. After ending up with some duplicates I went looking for an app to keep better track of my collection, and found this one. PRO: 1. I really like being able to use my own pictures for certain books, or search online. It’s helpful when you have an older edition or one that’s been released with different covers. 2. You’re not stuck with whatever title or description it gives you when you scan or otherwise add a book to the collection. If something doesn’t look right, you can change anything that comes up to make it accurate to what you have. CON: 1. Chances are if you need an app to keep track of your collection, you probably have a LOT of books. If you want to enter more than 50, that’ll be $5 to unlock. It seems a bit pricey for what it is. 2. The interface could use some streamlining. It’s something of a chore to correct mistakes or manually add information. There’s no mass edit function, so to have to individually add books to categories or series. (It’s incredibly tedious when you have two shelves of Star Wars books that you want to organize by series and canon status.) 3. The scanner doesn’t work roughly 75% of the time. It mostly seems to have trouble figuring out older books, but directly entering the ISBN found the right one more often than not. On the rare occasion THAT failed, it’s easy to search for the book and add it to your collection. Overall it’s great and handy to have to refer to whenever I come across something and I don’t know if I already have it..Version: 8.7.0
BookBuddy is a Bookseller’s BuddyI work in an independent bookshop, and keeping track of our current stock can sometimes be a bit messy. We're a mom and pop type of place, so we kind of just figure stuff out as we go along. However, this app has been the first tool that has allowed me to successfully keep track of all the books with just a click of a button. The organization features are stellar, honestly. The only nitpicky thing I would like to see as a feature would be the ability to sort authors by last name, as we personally organize that way. I had to manually edit the names of each author so that when I sort by name, it reflects what I see on the shelves in front of me..Version: 9.5.10
NEVERMIND FOUND EDIT OPTION. Needs to update ‘cover coming soon’ booksThis is probably nitpicky but I was testing the free version out before I bought then-aid version and I scanned 4 books and 1 came up with a ‘cover coming soon’ picture when the book has been our for a few months. I like this program specifically because it shows the covers but if they aren’t going be keeping up to date with new release covers then what’s the point? Also covers get released way before the book even comes out so there really is no excuse. I like the multi scan feature and the simplicity but what’s the point if I can’t see the picture. Edit: I found the edit title option but once again if I’m going to be paying for this I shouldn’t have to do this except for maybe special editions not in the system.Version: 8.9.7
Great way to keep track of booksI now have over a thousand books recorded. This is mostly the new purchases since the start of using Book Buddy. I would like to put in old titles but listing older dates is tedious as you are forced to go back in the calendar one month at a time. You cannot type in the date. Something bought in 2021, hum? Also would like to see computer version as it takes 3 times longer to type on phone. They would have to be able to be synced. The layout and categories are great. It doesn’t always find your book during a search even if you have the name exact. Overall I give it a B with a lot of potential to become an A..Version: 9.5.2
FINALLY, an app that allows me to easily search my list!!I have gone through several different apps that allow you to scan the barcodes of your books to track them for whatever your purpose. I’ve been searching for one that allows me to both easily search my list (my main use is tracking books I own) and easily enter books manually for the books I own digitally. These two features, which this app has, allow me to, when I’m used book shopping, quickly check if I have a particular book. No more getting home to discover that I’ve already purchased a certain book!! This app saves me time and money! What more could I ask for?!.Version: 9.4.6
Amazing app!I’m a former user of Book Crawler. That app was great at first, but has needed attention for many years. It was recently sunsetted which led me to find this app. My only regret is that I did not find this app from the very beginning of my book cataloguing journey. The app is fantastic. The online search is blindingly fast. It is very customizable. When I first started using it, on two different occasions I reached out to customer support. Not only did I receive a response in less than 4 hours both times, but my questions were clearly solved with specific details about the actual steps to take to address my questions. I cannot strongly enough recommend and advocate this app..Version: 9.7.11
TagsI downloaded this app so that I could have a visual of all my childrens books. I love that I can scroll through all of our picture books. Also it helps when I am out and can’t remember if they already have a specific book. My only complaint comes from using the tag feature. I have books that may fit multiple tags based off of themes/categories. An Example being an ocean themed alphabet book. I would tag it “phonics” and “ocean”. I was hoping this feature would help me set up their book shelves more quickly because I could type one of my tags into the search engine. In this case I would search either ocean OR alphabet depending on exactly what I wanted to put on their shelves. What is the point of “tags” if I can’t search my library for books with a specific tags..Version: 9.5.1
Great app for a home library, classroom, office, or small libraryI can’t say enough good things about this app!!! You can even do a backup to Dropbox or Google drive with ease. Great app for a home library, classroom, office, or small library & anyone who needs to quickly keep track of a small collection. The following are merely suggestions as I’m hoping the develops will read this review: As a librarian, I love how it allows you to choose your own categories and it allows you to get down into the details. As a layman, there are just too many options. Suggestions for update1)Create two areas one that is simple and one advances users. 2)More suggested answers for say genres, categories, & format for the non-librarians vs the advances users.Version: 8.12.2
A lifelong book challengeI have always wanted to have some type of literary control of my library. Have always tried to have sections, such as history, biography, fossils shelves, but as I collected books I was overrun, my sections and books kept getting put anywhere. Recently, my daughter told me about BookBuddy. Once I started using it, everything changed. How, you ask by using a simple app. I am now having the books categorized by genre. Also having control of my books, the control begins with listing them in alphabetical order, but the best part is, I’m able to take a picture of each book. I find the site extremely easy to use. That’s important to me because I am an enthusiastic 82-year-old. Many times I back away from what I consider new technology. Well, BookBuddy is a new technology for me, and I find it very simple to use. I highly recommend this to anyone who stops by the site. My library is large so it will take me a while to enter my holdings. But with each book added, I am getting a great deal of satisfaction. Thank you..Version: 9.5.8
Honest reviewI really like being able to scan my library. And it’s only a one time $5 to get unlimited books. I don’t like I can’t add if my copy is a hard back of paper back etc. I’m one who is always upgrading and updating my books or trying to match my collection. To hard back or paperback. It would be a nice feature to be able to do. I ran into an issue with an author I could find the first book by them in the series but not the 3rd. It was the strangest thing I couldn’t find all the books they had. Overall I like the organization process of scanning, or looking it manually. I would like some more personalized features to put in each book. For instance on condition of the book etc..Version: 9.7.18
Almost PerfectI would of given this a 5/5 if it weren’t for the fact I don’t have a have to fix the way it sorts multiple numbered volumes of a series in order. It will list for example volumes 1-9 in order numerically, but then volume 10 will be inserted after volume 1 and not after volume 9. Not sure if this is how things are sorted via some method I’m unaware of. I am admittedly not a librarian, just a guy trying to keep track of my books. However, other than that the app works great. I can scan multiple books via barcode, or manually enter. Multitude of sorting options. Interface is good. I did pay $5 to unlock unlimited cataloging, which if you have a big collection I think is worth it for ease of use..Version: 9.1.3
GREAT appI LOVE this app! It’s exactly what I was looking for. What a perfect way to keep track of my home library, I love it!! I mainly wanted to be able to enter books by scanning the barcode (yep! As long as the book isn’t too old; but if it is too old, you can type in the ISBN; and if it’s too old to have an ISBN, you can still add it using an online search), and it allows you to mark the books’ locations, and it allows you to mark books as loaned out—and lots more! If you own more than 50 books (and if you’re looking at this app, you know you do!) go ahead and pay the five bucks for the unlimited version! I guarantee you won’t regret it..Version: 9.1.12
AMAZING!! I was in shock this is free. I am soo happy with this appI saw a TikTok of a woman who got a library book scanner as a Christmas gift and it digitally organize all of her books in alphabetical order, and she could add notes to each book and they had a picture and everything. I was so jealous and immediately looked it up to see how much it was, but then realized that this app is free, and does the exact same thing! You literally just scan the barcode, and it adds it straight to your library. You can see pictures of all your books and their organize Sony Lee, you can add them to folders, add notes, reviews, favorite them, it’s perfect..Version: 9.5.8
This is the best book appI love this app, it’s super easy to use, and if something doesn’t generate right, you can change it. It let me organize my books in a very specific way. No subscription unless you wanna share your shelves with random people. Just a one time fee of like five dollars and you’re set. It’s the perfect way to take your library with you while you shop and need to check if you have a certain book at home. It has basically every book, the catalog updates super frequently. You can even scan the book barcodes to add them to the app. Need to know what’s in your library? Use this app..Version: 9.8.1
Must have for Classroom LibraryI use this app to keep track of the 4,000+ books in my classroom library. I started with the free version but soon upgraded for more storage and it was worth every cent. I love that I check books out to students (and fellow staff members) and have instant access to see who has my books. I can quickly check for books to go with specific topics, and interests for students. I use it regularly to check titles so I don’t buy books I already have. My only wish for this app is a quick way to print a list of titles. There may be a way to do that but I’m still learning..Version: 9.6.2
Wonderful home library appI finally decided to get my books organized and listed without doing it with pen and paper. I am so far loving this app except for one small detail. I wish there was a way to sort the books by author name using the last name first instead of the first name. This is the third home library app I’ve tried and is by far the best, but they all seem to have that little hiccup where they default to the authors, first name then last name instead of the other way around as an old, foggy like myself is a custom to in brick and mortar buildings. UPDATE: received received response from app developer and they told me how to adjust author sorting. So now this is officially my favorite app..Version: 9.6.7
Best book organizer yet. This reading list lets you choose what categories you want to see, i.e. publisher, date purchased, date reading and finished, series and a lot more. Other lists do not give that option, therefore you have a bunch of categories you don’t want. It also gives a synopsis of the book. Let’s you add comments, rate the book and so much more. I had another book list with close to 200 books. That list blew up and I lost my books. I had them backed up but for some reason it wouldn’t back up. Talk about being a bit ticked off. I have every confidence in this book list..Version: 9.8.1
Great ExperienceAmended review (original follows): I am now at least 5 years in. I had my second contact with support this week. It was related to categorization of books following CSV import. I received an accurate response to my email within 24 hours. This app just works. It is responsive in handling what I think is large personal collection. >>>>>>>>>I have used another app for years (from my iPhone 3 days) but its user interface has become difficult to use. Not long ago, I moved and unpacked my books expeditiously for emptying boxes but its not easy to find things. I decided to add location information to each book. I started using my legacy app and found the UI to be too cumbersome. So, I created a CSV export that was easily imported into Book Buddy. I have gone through a few iterations (as I tag each book case). So far, I have had one question that was excellently handled by support. The responsiveness of support compensated for lack of real documentation. The PDF export produces a beautiful catalog..Version: 9.2.6
IN LOVE with BookBuddyAs a person who has always loved books and reading I bought the cost version of BookBuddy after trying the free version when I was in my late teens. I had about 150 books then. Now as an English teacher I use BookBuddy to keep track of all the books I own (400+ now). The ability to separate books into categories is a feature I love because I can designate whether a book is “at home” in my personal library or if I bought a book for my “classroom library”. I would recommend this app to anyone who collects books and likes to keep track of what you have!.Version: 9.2.5
AMAZINGI have been looking for an inexpensive app that allows me to have my whole library on my phone. THIS ONE IS AMAZING (hence the title)!!! The features that I love are: Being able to scan ISBN codes, Being able to rate the books I own so I know if I should suggest them, Being able to sort books is many orders, Being able to have a “lent out” list that is connected to my phone contacts (optional) And, being able to have my whole freaking library on my phone I paid the $5 for the lifetime subscription to have unlimited books because I have so many, and it’s been great! Get it!!!.Version: 9.5.11
Great if you have a small collectionI love this app a and it’s sister MovieBuddy. The Only downside to this app is when searching online it doesn’t automatically add it to the series it is in. I find that frustrating because in MovieBuddy you can add the movie by tv series and not have to list what is in it and what order it goes in. Even when adding movie series it still shows all the possible movies in the online search. You just have to add the order they go in. I think it would make this app easier if it not only added the author and title but the book series and the volume of the book in that series. When adding from online. Otherwise great app..Version: 9.1.7
Great for manga collectors! And cheaper than most!I love this app and how much cheaper it is compared to other book collection apps, one time payment of $5 for unlimited amounts of books u can scan in, ive seen apps cost $30 or monthly payments, so this was the best deal! U can easily sort the books you own and everything! I collect manga’s and they all scanned!!! Which is a huge plus cause some apps cap at vol. 5 for a series, but here u can add the whole series! Down side would be i wish i could calculate the total cost of my collection, like have an estimate value of all the books i own..Version: 9.6.4
Upgrade pays for itselfI started with the free version a few years back and quickly decided to upgrade. It was the best financial decision I’ve ever made. I’m still working on getting my entire library on (it’s grown a lot and I’ve been lax about my BookBuddy use), but I’m nearly 500 books deep (I have at least 800 books in total) and it’s already saved me hundreds of dollars from unintentionally buying multiple copies of the same book. There’s a movie version of the app I’m confident works just the same. My only complaint is that there isn’t one for a video game library. =(.Version: 9.0.3
I love this app so much!!This app is perfect and exactly what I needed to organize my library. I tell all my reading friends about it. I do wish there was a pause option for the books I’m reading if I have to stop for a few days/weeks for whatever reason. I also wish it was possible to have different sorting based on the section. For example: for my read books I prefer to have them sorted by finished, my whole library by author and my unread by title. I just have to switch them depending on where I go. Not a big deal but would be a cool feature..Version: 9.7.18
Catalog your libraryThis app addresses all my needs. I so much appreciate all the information fields and Notes area. I love the ability to add custom tags, like the “signed by character” tag i added to a book in my library. The Developer seems to have thought of everything, is willing to continue to change the app to address problems and new technology. . Note to users: 2 things you may want to change in the Settings: -Author’s Name switch to Last, First as it defaults to First Last -Ignore Prefixes turn this on and edit the prefixes list to your preferences..Version: 9.6.2
Wowza! Just what I neededI’m loving the app so far! Reached the 50 max real quick and definitely worth the $4.99 to pay for the upgrade. I’m assuming unlimited books but it wasn’t very clear on that I will say. I love being able to change the pic to match what I have in hand. I’m so glad I found this as I’m started to collect living books for homeschooling so it will be a great tool to see what books I already have when I’m out hunting for more books! Now where to put them all is the question. Will update if any changes to what I see..Version: 9.8.2
Almost..but not quiteI have been using Delicious Library 3 for several years but it is no longer supported. Thus, I need a new app to manage my books, lendiing of books, and listing of the 500 books and countless other music, games, etc. I need something--now! This is a great app for the phone and iPad but it does not have a desktop version to sync with it. It has the barcode reader (needed), a way to view yur books by images or lists (needed), a way to edit the information either manually or through a sync process (needed) but it is only available for an iPhone or iPad (wonderful) but not the Mac desktop (oops! Needed but not available!)..Version: 9.3.6
Love this app! This app has been so helpful for sorting out my books! I love that I can also track the books I borrow and where I borrow them from! The only change I can really think of is that I would like to be able to add additional reading statuses - for reference books that I likely won’t ever fully read but also don’t want on my unread list... and for books that I never finished and/or want to come back to! But, when I emailed the developer it sounded like they are working on changes to this, so I am excited for that!.Version: 8.12.12
Book BuddyThis is an awesome app if you are able to keep up with your books and you add them as you purchase them. This will help you know what books you have and what books you do not have Highly recommended!!!!.Version: 8.11.6
Fantastic app for organizing your libraryI’ve been using this app for a couple years now and have never ru; into a glitch! It is very flexible so you can set up your library using any system you want and at the same time very easy to use. So far I haven’t come up with a single task, including setting up a subgroup of books to sell and then exporting it to excel that it couldn’t handle..Version: 8.12.5
AndroidI love this app, on my iPad mini. I would love to see an Android version since my new tablet is a Samsung sine the new minis are expensive. At least there is a great export feature so my years of reading history can be preserved. An Android version would save the day. Again great app..Version: 9.5.2
RépertoireJ’ai maintenant presque de 4000 livres parfaitement classés grâce à cette application conviviale et facile..Version: 10.0.5
Great app, but could use some improvementsI have found this app very helpful, but I wish there was a reading status option for reference books (language, art, cookbooks, etc.). I wouldn’t classify those books under any of the current categories (unread, being read, finished, or unfinished), so it messes with my stats. It can also be fussy when adding older books… there is a camera feature to help capture ISBN numbers, but I’ve found it to be finicky and unreliable..Version: 10.0.5
Great organizational toolI enjoy using BookBuddy to keep track of my reading. Very useful, simple to use..Version: 10.0.3
Love it!Simple and easy to use.Version: 10.0.2
Best “clean” optionI hated stuff like storygraph & goodreads because it was so catered to online content & other peoples’ thoughts on books that were usually horrible but highly rated. i didn’t need another social media platform for my bookkeeping because there’s enough social media as there is. this app is perfect!! i bought the full edition because i was so pleased. its layout is simple and fits well with the iphone themes, its neatly organized with lots of categories, and its easy to scan books to add in and out. i love all the separate sections for loaning out, wishlists, and more. if i could rate it higher i would.Version: 9.7.17
SyncLike this app but can’t make it sync between iPad and iPhone.Version: 9.7.18
One of my favourite appsOne of my favourite apps, has helped me over the years keep my collection of over 500 books organized. Has every single feature imaginable for organizing one's collection..Version: 9.6.7
Amazing but..I love the app as a way to store and record my books as there are many different cover versions. Not sure if it's something plausible, but could Indigo's editions of novels be included in the online search? Would also love to be able to add more reading status updates such as reread and in progress..Version: 9.7.4

For the classroomBookbuddy is an essential help to keep track of the books that I have in my classroom. Easy to use and a must-have for every teacher. If I could make a suggestion to improve it would be to have a memory for each person or student of the books that they borrow. It would be amazing if it could memorize all the books that my students have read through the year. This way I would see their type of books and the progress they have made in their reading..Version: 9.6.1
Love it!The only thing I’d change about this app is adding the ability to sort by Authors last name. Otherwise does the trick!.Version: 9.5.9
AvisSimple et efficace!.Version: 9.5.9
Book buddy does everything you needEverything I want the ap for is easy to do. You can scan a whole bunch of books quickly. It was really worth it. I wish it recognized a few more bar codes of trade paperbacks Best way to scan books by far.Version: 9.5.8
Great app to keep track of all books,From work books to library books, books I loan out and books the kids have!.Version: 9.5.2
GoodGood so far but I wish I could have folders within my ‘categories’ folders for better organization as well as a “wishlist” option to mark books I want but aren’t in my library yet.Version: 9.5.2
SupportSubmitted a question. Had a detailed answer back in hours, with attention to what I was after and great suggestions and directions on how to get there. How can you not love that! And the app works great!.Version: 9.5.2
Perfect for TeachersMy classroom library was always so complicated to manage. But with this handy app, I can keep an inventory of my classroom and personal collection of books, manage borrowing, and keep a wishlist! All my literary organization needs in one place. This is a great app! My one improvement would be the ability to delete manually entered contacts..Version: 9.5.2
Version: 9.5.1
Top notch app.Stores everything you’re going to need recorded about your books..Version: 9.5.0
Worth the money!I have over a thousand books and have often mistakenly bought one I already own, until I got this app. I researched reviews on several apps before choosing Book Buddy and I’m happy with my choice. The barscan works great in single or multiple modes, and I love that it has fields for loan outs, subtitles (useful for anthologies), series name and series volume number, plus several others. The search feature works beautifully too. I have some very old books that don’t have bar codes but I was able to add them manually, including using my camera to import a picture of the book cover. Plus there’s a wish list in the app for me to keep a list of books needed to complete my collection!.Version: 9.4.6
Love Book BuddyI suggest it to my writing students. Network groups and friends all the time..Version: 9.4.4
Complete and easy to useThe app offers a simple interface, lots of fields (that you can turn on and off as required) and boast a decent search capacity. It’s been able find all but a fraction of my books and download their biographic information. A worthwhile app for anyone looking to manage a book collection..Version: 9.3.9
Huh weirdExcellent app, paid for the upgrade but it seems my select button is now no longer functioning properly.Version: 9.4.2
Money saver!!This app made me save sooo much money. I now know exactly which books i already own so i don’t double buy anymore! Easy to use and very clean interface!.Version: 9.3.9
Amazing!Book Buddy has done an amazing job helping sort my personal library. I would and have recommended this app to others. So glad I found this app:).Version: 9.3.6
Book Buddy - as close to perfect as it getsThis is the first app review I have ever written - and yes I paid for the pro version, after trying out the free version, and it is worth every penny! There is only one charge for using the same app on a Mac, iPad & iPhone and they immediately sync automatically if you make a change in any location. Be careful to have the same Apple ID on each device so it knows you paid on one device so it automatically registers the others for free. I use the app to keep track of all books I have read and what was important to me was that I could sort by author, series & volume (the series number). I like to read books in series order and this is the perfect app to help me keep track. I don’t as yet list books I would like to read but may well do this as I can see it will be very easy to add these as “unread” and know which series/volume to check out of the library next time I need a new book to read. The last thing, and it seems so rare these days, is there is actually a live human being in customer service that responds, quickly, and reads properly what you are asking and is immensely helpful with an actual answer! How often can you say that any more? 5 out of 5 for me - I highly recommend!.Version: 9.1.10
Helpful but not “free”I love this app and it is the most helpful one ive found so far for tracking my book collection. but the problem is you cannot add over 50 books without paying which was a pretty disappointing discovery..Version: 9.2.6
Great App for any book lover!I’ve used a bunch of apps to manage my personal library, but this app is the best so far! I purchased the pro version almost immediately, and have no complaints! One suggestion would be a reading progress line that has a completion percentage “Page 10/1000 - 1%”. Currently there are two separate lines, one saying the total pages, and the other is a personal tracker of the current page you’re on..Version: 9.2.6
Needs Progress Bar in Page and PercentSuch a great app. I love the layout and all the features. Needs a “now reading” widget and a progress bar that illustrates how far one has read in their most recently read book! Otherwise, it’s pretty great! The movie and music ones are pretty great as well..Version: 9.2.0
I looove this app!!!This app is so awesome and easy to use!!! It’s perfect for organizing all my books. Because I have soooo many and this app is perfect for it!!!.Version: 9.1.7
