Best Music cataloging app I have found.After many disappointing trials of other apps for maintaining a list of my music library, I am so happy to have found Music Buddy Pro. It does a great job of finding music from the barcodes and most importantly in enables my wife and I to share the same database so each of us can add CDs when we buy them. We both have ADHD so we’ve frequently bought a duplicate of an album we already had. This app is easy to add at time of purchase and syncs right up on the spouses phone. We used to call the dupes, paying our ASHD tax. With music buddy we no longer have that stress in our lives. There are so many more features but no extra feature would make up for missing the basics and this app does the basic brilliantly..ConLurkerVersion: 9.6.6

Great app, lacking in display options, themes, but data richThere are prettier apps out there which display your album/cd art to better advantage. This app lacks the beauty and display capabilities of some of those apps. Where it really shines is the level of data that is tracked and the ability to display it by numerous attributes like composer, orchestra, artist, conductor. If this app added some of the more elegant display settings and themes like CLZ music for instance, it would be the hands down winner. I love CLZ for is beautiful graphical display and themes but as far as tracking data elements, sorting, filtering, it can’t compare with Music Buddy and it costs 3x more. It doesn’t let you add your own categories. CLZ doesn’t even track composer or orchestra, instead focusing on artist only which is less helpful. I cannot for instance see at a glance which cds I have that are composed by Haydn or Mozart. In CLZ I would have to enter composer for each cd manually. In music buddy the cover art is really small, so an option to display it larger or a different theme without media art blended in would be nice. I don’t need to see a cd on each one, since I only have cds. The look is a bit dated. I like the ability to store notes as well for each album/cd..Thebirdman7Version: 8.8.1

ImperfectInevitably where there's an update, one of my systems will return “sync disabled”, requiring me to re-enable it and then wait for my library to sync again. quite frustrating. at the very least, it could remember which service i had selected previously instead of forcing me to choose one again. also, a proper Mac version would also be welcome, rather than the iPad app running in Mac OS. definitely works and is better than nothing, but having a proper Mac UI would be a delight. it's also frustrating when it comes to adding albums. about 5% of the time, an album won't be in whatever database Music Buddy uses, even fairly common stuff. it happens often enough to be a pain. it'd be great if we could then submit albums we enter manually to that database to help others avoid the same issue. and entering albums manually could be expedited if there was a native Mac version. just a thought. but it's relatively straightforward to use, if a bit clunky here and there, and has helped me avoid buying dupes more than once..CarlamaticVersion: 9.5.14

The Best, but one thing…This is, by far, the best app I’ve used for cataloging my collection. It’s versatile, reliable, and has all the features that I need. I have one suggestion: the ability to sort artist either by last name or by full name. Right now it’s just one globally for the app. So for example, if I have the app set globally to sort last name, first name, then Academy Of St. Martin In The Fields shows up as Fields, Academy of Saint Martin’s in the. Philharmonic orchestra shows up as Orchestra, Philharmonic. If I flip it the other way to full name globally, then Academy Of St. Martin In The Fields is fine, but then Pat Metheny is Pat Metheny and not Metheny, Pat. So being able to set this on an artist by artist basis would be great..MacomposerVersion: 9.5.3

This is nifty but…UPDATED: I’m glad you can ignore articles by switching to “ignore articles” in settings. I have inherited a ton of vinyl, lots of it old and obscure. I wanted a way to catalog my vinyl so I would know exactly what I have, regardless if I’ll ever listen to that. I’m neurotic that way. I *might* someday be curious to know if I own it. Also helpful when I go record shopping to see what I have. I’ve been using the app for awhile now. I appreciate the large database and ease of finding obscure albums. However, there are a few things that I dislike about it. The catalog entries aren’t universally-thorough. I’m assuming they’re user-submitted. Lots of information missing about genres and individual artists in compilations. It’s not perfect, but it’s nice to know what I have..$4&;&.!.)-&@>.>,£|'Version: 9.4.4

Easy 1,2,3Categorizing albums has never been easier. No longer entering music data by hand or having to burn a CD to have info stored on a computer. Multiple ways to inquire about data; scan bar codes or manually enter info. Fifty albums are free with app; Five dollars gets unlimited albums. With a few thousand cds, this is a bargain. So far no issues with crashes. Like every thing new, navigation takes a little getting used to but nothing that causes frustration. They have a FAQ section or email them..Toe BoneVersion: 9.5.14

Great But Please Add DiscogsThis app has everything the others don’t. It’s excellent at scanning in single and multiple bar codes, the search is excellent, the category and tag system is flexible and even the export is much appreciated - though nothing seems to have an import. The ONE thing that has me looking for another App is the Discogs integration. I want to be able to assess the value of my collection and even sell items if desired. So Simple Yet So CompleteI just got into vinyl and I was look for an app to help me manage my collection and I couldn’t be happier with any other app. It is better than I could have imagined. It’s just so easy to use. Adding albums is a simple search through a huge album catalog or you can scan the barcode on the album if it has one. Great tool for managing my collectionI really like this app. I think it is perfect for anyone who wants to know what is in their collection. I like how easy it is to add albums. I like the ability to create and use filters and tags. I use the wish list feature before I go to I the record store, and when I find an albums in the racks. Clunky, annoying sync issueOn the iPhone and iPad, the UI works. on the Mac… less so. but my biggest issue is with the sync function. if i update the app on my iStuff but the app is open on my MacBook (as happened this morning), after updating on my MacBook, it disables the sync and completely forgets my sync settings. then i have to go through the process of re-syncing, which can take a fair bit of time as it re-checks my library. it sure would be nice if having a mis-match in the app version didn't cause an error like this. at least it doesn't corrupt the library?.CarlamaticVersion: 9.5.12

Just what I’ve been waiting for.My son keeps a spreadsheet with all his vinyl to avoid buying duplicates while browsing in record stores! I’ve never had the energy to do that, but this app does the business perfectly. Any albums with barcodes can be scanned in really quickly, but if not, even searching online gets instant results. Nice app!I just started using this app so I can keep track of my CD collection. I have probably 600 CD’s an can’t remember them all when diving at the thrift stores. This is very easy to use even if you have some early CDs that don’t have usable barcodes and have to do a search. Very Functional & Easy To UseI've just spent some time putting the first 50 albums in MusicBuddy. You should expect a 10% failure rate on obscure labels, older CDs and some boxed sets (especially if the CDs are reissues). The Search the Internet feature worked well the two or three times I tried it. Overall, does what's promised without much fuss. HUGE disappointment. Couldn’t find the 2nd record that I decided to search.I decided to give this app a shot because of the number of good reviews. I started with an album that was already laid out and on my turntable, Permanent Waves by Rush. Search found it. No issues. Then I began with my collection, which begins with Big Science by Laurie Anderson. And, NOPE! Search couldn’t find it! (?) So I think, OK, let’s try something old but currently relevant: Kate Bush. Scammers!Needs to have only one app. They have this one, where you can upgrade to the pro features and the other one, Music Buddy Pro.
