Highly recommend!!I’ve had this app for over a year and have finally decided to review it. This is definitely my favorite and most used app out of everything I have on my phone. I am a film major and a huge film enthusiast and I have completely fallen in love with the app. Its definitely the best way for me to keep track of all the movies I have seen and all the movies I want to see, but better than that is the fact that you can add just about any movie and it gives you all this great information on each film, you can organize and find movies according to actor, director, tags applies, genre, etc., and you can even rate the film and (what I love to do) is write all my comments and opinions on the movie in the notes section after I’ve seen it. One of my favorite things I’m also able to do is record what day I watched what movies. Its a really cool way for me to see when I saw each film and/or when I added each film to the app. If I had one suggestion I would absolutely love to be able to record when I rewatch a movie without losing the date when I first saw it. Essentially, I just want the app to record multiple “watched” dates. This may be just a “me” thing because I rewatch movies so often and really would like my rewatched movies to show up more than once, but I don’t want this to sound like a downside to the app or anything. It’s just personal preference and a way in which the app could improve for me at least. All in all, I am a massive fan of this as a way to better organize movies, more easily add them to your “need to watch” list, and also because each film usually provides me with a lot of really valuable information and there is a section for me to write my thoughts down after the movie! Best Film Collection App I’ve Used!This is a great app to keep track of your collection. Best one I’ve used! Easy to add a title (barcode scanner, search online, or manual input). It can also link a title to its IMDB page. It has tons of customizable fields (pretty much everything is customizable), a lot of filters, tags and categories options, a notes section for each release (which is great for including physical extras that come with a release or to explain what is on each disc), multiple backup options (I use iCloud), easy to navigate, and looks clean. I do hope one day the ability gets added to upload more than one photo of a release instead of only one. Would be nice for box sets and collector’s editions, and also for inside artwork, back side artwork, spine artwork. Also, the pinch-to-zoom ability for artwork would be nice too. The free version lets you add up to 50 titles, if I recall correctly. The paid version is only $5.99 (that’s at least what I paid a few months back), which is really affordable and you can add as many titles as you want. I highly recommend!.Watino64Version: 9.8.0

Brilliant! Get this app!If you are a person who likes to keep a record of the movies and TV programs you watch, or would like to watch, this app is perfection. I have spent years looking for some thing this simple - every other app is crudded up with social media and or advertising, and is so impossible to sort through that I had resigned myself to using Apple notes or Google tasks to keep track. With this app, you can very easily search on the Internet to download information for any movie or TV show you are hoping to see. You can keep the interface as simple as you like. On my phone I just have movie posters for everything in my lists. Click on the movie poster and you can access any information you need, (metadata, reviews, links to streaming services) and hide anything you don’t want to see. ImpressedThis app is exactly the type of app I was looking for to catalog my movie collection. Scanning movies in is a breeze. It took me awhile to figure out that I could do several titles at a time, but now that I can, it’s a must faster process. The only reason I have not given 5 stars is that there are a few areas where the app is not very intuitive. 1) I can’t figure out how to export in a format the way I want it to look (cover art, title, & other specific criteria listed by itself). 2) I recently bought a new iPad & it proved to be frustrating trying to get my list to populate on that device. The exporting/importing required multiple attempts. 3) I want the same info to populate for all of my titles, but when I’m scanning them in, I also have to add fields. I wish there was a way for these to appear automatically. Overall these are fairly small concerns. Love this app!I checked out 7 or 8 apps that do roughly the same thing, and MovieBuddy is the clear winner out of all of them. All of the others were either slow or their scanner didn’t work or they required monthly payments. MovieBuddy has an initial 50-item limit, but the upgrade is only a one-time $5 payment and then you have unlimited items forever, no additional payments! The scanner works great occasionally it will think it’s scanning the wrong version of a film, like a remake of the same title, but it’s super easy to replace with the right title and you can add titles in multiple ways. I only had to manually input 1 out of my 326 movies, and it’s a pretty obscure film, a recording of a stage performance called The Reduced Shakespeare Company. And even then I still found the cover art and summary online through the app. It was a little confusing figuring out how to share my movie library with my family so we all have the same list, but I emailed the app developer and they got back to me within a day, addressed me personally and addressed my specific problems politely and thoroughly, and even offered to do more than I expected. (SUGGESTION: It would be great to be able to find other users and share lists and/or view each other’s libraries so that friends can browse each other’s films and borrow movies from each other.) The other great thing is they have other sister-apps for books and music! MovieBuddy, BookBuddy, etc. As far as I can tell, it’s the same deals and same functionality throughout all of them. The best app on the market for physical collectors!I downloaded every other app on the market for organizing your movie collection and this is by far the best one in my opinion. The scanner works really fast, it’s incredibly accurate and if not 99% of the time gives you the correct option to choose before adding it to your library, the cover art they choose looks good, they give you an incredible amount of info to filter your collection by, and a ton more. Last but not least the price to upgrade to the pro features is the cheapest of them all and definitely worth it. Great work! Bit of a learning curve but so worth itBeen using and exploring other apps and inventory cataloging methods and have not been satisfied so far with what i used until now. I have a large collection of movies and it is difficult to keep track of what i own. I have caught myself buying duplicates and always find myself experiencing buyers remorse not soon after. This app sure makes keeping track of everything, even movies/shows on my wishlist. I also like that i can keep track of loaned out media and to sho I loaned them to. One of the best apps I’ve found.This is the best app available for cataloging your movies. The creators offer a generous trial period of 50 movies. By the time I got to that limit I was sold and purchased the pro version. I only wish I had seen the bundle with Book Buddy before I made the purchase. I would have purchased the bundle instead. A suggestion to the app creators: I think you should make that bundle purchase available when someone is ready to make the Movie Buddy purchase. Best support team I’ve ever dealt with!I had several devices connected to the same iCloud account with only one phone not syncing properly. The support team was very responsive and helpful giving detailed feedback requests. If you are thorough with your first request for help they may be able to sort it out in one email. Response time was next day for each communication. Best movie/show database I've foundThis is an excellent way to keep track of movies and shows that have been watched. The one time upgrade fee was definitely worth it, and I'm so glad it isn't yet another subscription. Favorite features include filtering movies/shows by tags, seeing the top actors/directors in my collection, quickly importing information but having flexibility to edit most fields, and being able to add an entire show series as a single entry. Movie buh-uh-ddddyI’ve been looking for an app for a long time to keep track of my movies and allowing them to be alphabetical like I keep mine on the shelf. I kept a note on my phone and it was a pain to keep up with. This app makes things so much easier and I’m glad it has the option to ignore prefixes in movie titles. The options to also add formatting let’s me know if the movie I have is blue ray or not. Great for movie collectorsI have tried quite a few apps for my movie collection of around 2000 movies and this is by far my favorite one. I love how easy it is to navigate and find a movie I wanna watch. You can even organize the movies and edit all the information however way you want to. You can even add a little section for movies on your wish list that you’re looking out for. Solid App, keeps getting betterI have been using this app (and the book app) for several years. I’m giving 4 stars not because the app itself is well built, pretty good user interface, and they keep it updated; I’m giving 5 stars because of their responsiveness. The latest of which resulted in making it much easier for us to record when we’ve watched a movie again. One day I would like the ability to share a text list of movie title with year via text message or email. $5 upgrade totally worth itI just downloaded this app yesterday and has already become so useful! Love the option to being able to scan all my movie barcodes, and then was able to compare those that I already had a digital copy for. Fantastic organization app!Thanks to this tool, I’ve found myself watching more movies. Turns out I own plenty that I’ve never even seen... Seriously this is a great app for keeping track of a large film collection and the tools are made much more powerful thanks to the MASSIVE amount of info that each film keeps track of. Does the job, but a painI have their book app too, so I should have known better, but it’s taken me an hour just to scan 50 movies because their search is awful. It either pulls up the wrong movie entirely, or can’t find it. I’ve had to manually input close to half so far. It’s haven’t checked yet, but the book app also has trouble returning results from my collection sometimes because of how it catalogs parts of the title/info, so hopefully it won’t be as bad for this. Exactly what I needed!I am so happy with this app! Great!This is a really great app, I love being able to sort all of my favorite shows and keep track of all the ones I want to watch. If I could recommend anything I would love for there to be an ability to copy all tags from one item to put them on to another. Like if I’m watching a comedy sci-fi TV show I want to be able to immediately copy the comedy and sci-fi tags to all seasons instead of having to manually put them in. Awesome ToolAwesome tool for cataloging movies. After entering a few movies I decided to upgrade to full version. Being able to scan multiple movies at once is great. I did about 10-15 at a time to ensure all were being added. My catalogue came out to over 600 movies! I never thought we had so many. I used this app to see if we have a movie in our library or not. Does what it is supposed to doVery easy to enter new movies. I just use the tablet or phone camera to scan the barcode and it gets all the information from the internet. Out of the 160+ I have done so far there have only been 3 or 4 that I have had to go out and find and those were obscure tv series. Amazing.I am elated to have found this app. I use it to track my Blu Rays etc. I like physical media for ownership and uncompressed audio/video. Video covers, Selected episodesSome of the video covers on IMDb are are not being downloaded. When trying to change it, the one on the IMDb site is not there. This program will only accept the IMDb number of the series, instead of a particular episode. Finally, exactly what I was looking forI can't believe how easy the developer made this. It can scan the barcode and find your movies. You have to review the ones you scan and sometimes correct the cover photos or the edition etc. but it fills in all the things. Trailers, dates, imdb etc and it scans very quickly. I can scan my entire collection in an afternoon. I have 2 people setup on different devices. In order to have the shared database and settings automatically on all devices, we use one dropbox account on both devices. There is a way to do the same with iCloud if it's using the same account on all devices. It took a while to figure out why it wouldn't sync within the shared Apple Family iCloud drive. It wasn't clear at first that it had to be the same apple id on all devices, so it won't work with different people's devices..Ur2qt2b4got10Version: 9.1.8

Great AppI got this about 2 years ago and it’s easy to use and really practical. The only small issue I have is when I try to Export my list, it doesn’t take all my movies. Easily Worth The MoneyThis app is easily worth the pittance you pay for it. Other apps are run by scammers (iCollect, Collectors) or are an awful subscription service just to use (CLZ). This is an oldschool, high-quality app that has been on the market for years and, from my experience in the past month, works almost flawlessly. I had a few crashes while switching between this app and another a bunch of times in a row, but otherwise zero problems. Easy to use, easy exporting, all data kept on your phone so no database issues. The custom tags and filtering by that alone is worth the price of admission. 5 stars. Does not scan any longerUpdated review: reduced to 1 star. App doesn't work anymore. Continually crashes and will no longer save scans. Wasted time and money scanning hundreds of dvds for nothing and now I can't scan the other half of my collection. Garbage app. I bought the pro version because I have a huge movie media collection and wanted to finally keep track of it. I like that I can export to a PDF list and also have the collection with me on the go when shopping for used or new media. It's ok but it has problems that need to be addressed. -You have to scan a little at a time because it frequently gets the wrong versions or a totally different movie and sometimes it says it didn't scan one that it did or vice versa. -It seems to default to new reboot versions of old movies I've had to go back and check multiple times which is frustrating if you're trying to scan hundreds of movies. Sometimes it puts other movies that just have the same word in the title and aren't even connected to the UPC that you scanned. -Trying to scan a series of movie sequels is tedious when it shouldn't be (eg: Friday the 13th 1-10) it mixes them up and you have to manually fix them. - Boxed sets are also annoying and it cannot find most of them, I had to manually add. It's been a lot more tedious than I expected and not even halfway through. This needs a hefty update to have more accurate results, a UPC is connected to a specific version so not sure why it's often so wrong. I hope an update comes out that fixes this database, I'm still using it for now but we'll see..Interstellar1024Version: 10.0.7

LameUpdate: Thanks for pointing out that there is an option for this but that just brought up more problems. The app doesn’t actually differentiate the different versions of a movie. For example I have 4K and Blu-ray versions of a few movies but when I scan them they are both considered the same movie. It also has a hard time with box sets. I could go on but unless you’re willing to put a LOT of time into using this app, you’re better off paying more for a more competent app. I guess that is why this is so cheap… Old: This app would be amazing IF it actually listed the movies in the format you scan them in. Really dependsI just paid for pro. Adding Wall-e is very difficult (scans as “Wall Engravings”, and the search is so specific that it took 3-4 tries before Wall-e was in the results). I scanned Spaceballs, but it comes back as Monsters, Inc. and Spaceballs isn’t in the list of alternate results. Many work as intended, a few you have to switch to an alternate result. But it’s frustrating because it’s a upc, but somehow the app is just searching a word. (Mean Girls 2005 came back as Mean Girls 2024.) So, you have the handhold every scan, which really reduces a lot of the value proposition of this app..Bryan0118999Version: 9.7.15

App is 10/ Database is 0After over 1,000 movies added and 1 year of use there is one conclusion; this app is great but the Database is terrible or does not exist. After CLZ trial I got frustrated what I have been missing. CLZ scans every movie, easy… MovieBuddy Pro scans 1% of movies, even BIG titles. You will have to manually enter every detail of every movie, and it takes days to upload a few movies, using multiple devices. This app is NOT serious and I have lost $10. App is nice, syncing between apple devices is terrible.I have the paid version of the app and the features work well for tracking movies, shows, etc. but the ability to sync between devices fails and sends you into a “restart your device” loop constantly. Crashes every time I try to scan a movie!Downloaded the app for the first time tonight to eat my media organized and started scanning which worked beautifully. I checked to make sure that the right movie was selected and then hit “save”... that’s when the app crashed without saving anything. I tried this several times with the same result.
