It okI don’t know why there are so many bad reviews, it connects for me and blocks almost any ad but its really aggravating because i paid money for this and it doesn’t block some ads, and also I use a vpn and this thing requires a vpn to work on the vpn but I can only use 1 vpn so its annoying. In addition it’s hard to turn off. Plus, this thing only blocks like 1% of yt ads and idk about the rest. It’s hard to understand and use whatever proxy and stuff since I’m not familiar with this. It Just Works!After you install Weblock you'll never know it's there. However, all of the things that you want it to do silently happen. I've used Weblock for over three years now, and, as far as I'm concerned, would have to say it's perfect. UPDATE: (1/8/18) When I received my new iPhone X in November Weblock stopped working. I discovered that no matter how many times I tried entering my proxy link it would not save. I contacted their support and received an immediate response. They told me to forget my Wi-Fi network, reconnect it and then enter the proxy link. I did that and it saved properly. I restarted my phone and voilà! Weblock is again working like a charm. It chews ads up and spits 'em out! This is an A+++ app.This app is amazing. All the ads just disappear. Even the ones in apps! In apps I'll see an in app purchase to remove ads, but I never see the ads in the first place! It makes me wonder why I even set up a pi-hole. With ad servers being used as vectors for malware and viruses it's important to block them at any cost. A GREAT web browser to use as a companion to this awesome app is 'Brave'. It has a setting where scripts are blocked until you specially allow them which means no more ad blocker warnings what so ever! Simple to use, NO BRAIN must have!I downloaded this based on the recommendation of another commenter while searching for a free wall paper app. Those apps tend to have tons of annoying ads for someone looking for a new wallpaper to celebrate and use the devices full capability. Finally stopped working reliably in Dec 2023I’ve been using Weblock for years and years, and it’s always done a great job. But this week, several apps finally started to break through and show ads, most annoyingly Bored Panda, which throws up full-screen video ads at random in the app, and then begs you to whitelist it (to BP: This behavior is WHY we block ads!). I’ve contacted the developer, but given how long it’s been since this has been updated, I’m not expecting a fix. It still works in some apps, particularly games, so it’s not a total loss yet, but I’m afraid I’m going to have to start looking for an ad-blocking VPN now..QuantumpandaVersion: 5.3

They are on it.There is one app in particular that drives me nuts with its unreasonably frequent ads, and Weblock is the first solution I’ve found that really works. Each time the app figures out a way around the proxy, I contact Weblock with the issue, and within a few days they’ve fixed it right up! This is a great app, though this current update has a slight widget issue which I've faith in the devs to fix in a new update. Outside the small issue, this app is great for so many reasons. If you value privacy, don't care for ads, or simply want a pleasant internet browsing experience without popups, redirects, and tracking cookies, this app does most of it for you. Note that some ad servers are allowed by default, so set your lists and preferences accordingly. Also, as this is a VPN connection, your internet traffic goes through the Weblock servers, which may be a privacy concern to some. It's quite easy to disable in app or in iOS VPN settings. VPN for the WIN!This application works phenomenally well! I won't say you'll never see an ad again, but you won't see very many. Currently not Compatible w/ iOS 15I’ve been on iOS 15 since the public beta and it was one of the first things I noticed. Ads started showing up in apps and on Safari/Firefox and the widget just says “Unable to Load”. When it works, it does a phenomenal job at blocking ads and just making things overall so easy and hassle-free not having to deal with in-app ads and blocking webpage ads. ComplicatedI just use it for the very basics. Most of its features elude me. But it does work to block ads. It is not intuitive to someone of my age (70) and lack of understanding. Sometimes it worksMany full screen ads are still shown despite my custom rules to block whole domains. The best way to fight the ads is to disable 2 options in Safari: block cookies and block javascript. So sites will start to look much better. We love you Weblock but got to upgrade.This is a great app, one of the first to be released as for blocking traffic. Too bad the creator seem not to support it, or work it out anymore as often. Maybe they should consider to make a paid version of it. I for one would be interested. When I did add new filters it does not show up in the list. Definitely contact them because there’s something wrong with how it was set up or they’ve turned on a blocker they actually don’t want to have on etc. it’s highly customizable and yet extremely simple and quick to use. I truly do not see advertising across many of my apps - aside from the web. I often read complaints re frustrations with ads making the experience using a given app frustrating to the point the user stops using the given app — I truly don’t see those ads - 📌The only thing to know so u won’t b surprised is I’ve on a few sites (Primarily YouTube if u select for it to be proxied) it may seem ur video is taking a long time to load. While I notice no effect on load time in general, I’ve noticed it on YouTube — it‘s often a bit of a pause before ur vid starts bc it’s not showing them but it mustn’t be able to start the video without them thinking they’ve run. I’ve also noticed it depends upon where ur viewing YouTube - ie: within which browser / app or even the YouTube app — as to whether there’s the short lag time while it proxies the ads. Very ImpressedThis app has exceeded my expectations! Only been using it with wifi the last couple days, but so far I’ve been very happy! I tried a couple different ad block app options before, that were all disappointing and some were downright scams!! No ad blocker app is perfect (free or otherwise). However this one offers many options, and it’s clearly routinely updated. (Recently it appears they have fixed some problems that were occurring when trying to use with VPN and they have instructions for how to make that work. Since i have a very small data plan, I limit my cellular data usage but I’ll still be giving that a try) It has built in filters that you can choose to activate (or deactivate) for over 1000 ad servers and the best part is that you can add more custom filters by url/domain and/or IP address by following their simple instructions/examples. This is particularly important since the world of add pop-ups, spyware..etc is forever expanding. Good, but for one issueThis thing is awesome. I’ve had it for years. The only annoying thing is when I’m searching for something on Google and it still shows the google ads, but prevents me from accessing them. To be clear, I can see the ad, but when I click on one, it stops me from being directed to the website I’m trying to get to. Outdated, Outperformed, yet not ObsoleteThis app was meant for the early 2010’s. Not by design, by functionality. Better apps that do more for free use up-to-date adblocking/anti-tracker lists and provide different DNS servers to use. This doesn’t. Only 39 filters for general ad servers and 28 for user tracking scripts. Not good. It does have a tab to manually add your domains, but you gotta do it painstakingly one by one. Now, I would’ve given this a one star if it wasn’t for this hidden gem. It has a feature better apps don’t have ( to my knowledge ). Adblocking through WiFi without the use of a DNS/VPN. Weblock can use a legacy “WiFi-only” mode where you change your connected WiFi’s HTTP proxy to Weblock’s. This has so much potential, and I have to give credit where credit is due to the developer(s). The HTTP proxy persists between multiple networks- meaning if you go to a new network, put in the proxy URL, disconnect and come back, it will still be on WeBlock. App update needed criticallyThis app was an excellent for doing its job until new iPhone 12 and iOS 14 was launched. Since then the app hasn’t updated. All the excellent features just vanished. It’s no longer functioning the way it use to. I contacted the developer and they responded that they are waiting to hear from apple on allowing them to update and haven’t heard back. Since this app hasn’t updated post that communication, I presume they are still waiting to hear back or that developer has lost interest in this app and have moved on to a different project. Unable to UseI purchased this app 2 days ago & have been unable to set it up yet. I started the tutorial but it says I have to reconfigure my wifi settings (via the tutorial) to do so. I emailed the developer and asked if reconfiguring my wifi would affect any of the other devices in my home, such as my security system, but I have not heard back from them yet. I did receive an automated email acknowledging my question was received, and that I would be contacted soon. That has not happened yet. Quit working in appsI have used Weblock for a couple of years and I was very happy with it. However, something has changed recently that prevents blocking ads within apps such as the New York Times app and Flipboard, in fact all in-app ads are now being displayed. It still works for Safari which seems odd. I emailed the developer, but they did not choose to respond. I tried redoing the auto proxy several times and verified that Block Content permissions in Settings was on. It’s a shame it no longer works as it was virtually 100% reliable in the past. The current version doesn’t block ads. 😞I’d been happy with Weblock for several years, and even more so when it began blocking ads using VPN. No more futzing with proxies! Yay! (This is a long-standing bug I shoulda reported before now.) I whitelisted a domain and accidentally left the option to whitelist its subdomains off. I can’t turn it on to save my life. I keep trying, but the change isn’t saved. I even tried deleting that rule and re-adding it, this time with subdomains enabled, but it STILL shows as “No.” This is maddening! Zero StarsAbsolutely ruined by misguided UI development. It used to be you could turn it on easily and you knew that’s what you were doing. I think the button was called Enable Weblock. Is there’s a proxy button on that turns itself back on as soon as you turn it off. And WiFi setting in the app remains active. Huh? What’s going on? In combination with copying the URL into the WiFi settings and toggling it on and off to load the url or unload by turning proxy off and saving, this should be easy. Even after doing so, Weblock still says Content Blocker is enabled! WOW, did they ever mess this up. So the way to turn it off is either totally obtuse or it’s to delete the app(?). Works intermittentlyWhen it works right, this is a fantastic app. I run an instance of a man-in-the-middle proxy on one of my servers, and have rules which transform traffic passing through in order to defeat ads and tracking. With this app, I can send only the traffic I want to deal with, and not unduly slow my device. Unfortunately, this app stops working frequently. It constantly says “Weblock not installed” when in fact it is. It stops filtering arbitrarily until you manually restart the vpn. Isn’t useful after removing VPN method.I get that the devs were forced to revert to less effective proxy-based filters, but the great VPN method was this app’s whole value. Rather than quietly continue to sell it without discussion of the crippled status, they really should do the right thing and discontinue it and stop taking people’s money. Garbage!!!!This app is the worst 2 dollars I’ve soent on the app store, it doesn’t get rid of one single ad on any of the platforms where it should work on, and instead of blocking ads on my safari it just prevents me from opening random websites. Following all of the steps using either the VPN profile or the web content proxy configuration yielded sub-optimal results with a small less than 5% of ads actually being blocked. Does nothingI paid $2.14 for an ad blocker that does not block any ads. I seen a way to get a refund and nobody responds to my messages when I request assistance. App won’t work with my VPN.I purchased the app and have spent hours trying to figure out a work around but my efforts proved unsuccessful! For some reason this app kills my VPN!
