Guardian Feast: Daily Recipes App Comments & Reviews

Guardian Feast: Daily Recipes Positive Reviews

Thank you from someone who does not eat animals!I’ve been making recipes from The Guardian for years (especially those by Meera Sodha) and I’m really excited about this new app! I immediately came here to write a review when I saw the account > settings > toggle on/off option to “hide meat-based recipes on your homepage.” Thank you so much for recognizing that this could make or break a user’s experience with the app. I am thrilled that I can open the app without dreading what I might see!.Version: 1.32

Well designed recipe appSix month free trial for Guardian subscribers. The filters allow specifying gluten and dairy free recipes and when both were set about half of the recipes were still available. The recipes themselves look good and the layout is nice and clear. I also liked the UK to US translation popup that explains the different names for some ingredients. The free recipe app I was using before is getting more and more adverts so I’m going to delete it and switch to this..Version: 1.1

A little difficult for old eyesThe app is a welcome addition for anyone interested in British recipes. One unfortunate aspect is how the app does not allow recipes to fit your screen, so the writing is too small to read. I’m using an a iPad Pro in landscape mode, and text is too small to be easily legible. Printing a recipe is not possible from the app, either. (Who wants to bring expensive electronic equipment into the kitchen where accidents can and do happen. Hopefully the Guardian will fix this poor engineering in an update, otherwise, I’ll eschew the app for the Guardian’s webpage..Version: 1.72

Great recipes — personal requestI really appreciate all the great recipes in Guardian Feast. Thank you. I recommend these recipes to people who want interesting, updated, delicious makes. I have a favor to ask you… Can you have a button to click that would change the recipes from grams and milliliters into cups, an ounces ? I know this is a provincial request. And I know it will be good for my brain to learn to work with grams and metric. But it sure would make it more likely than I would create your beautiful food..Version: 1.36

Unique delicious recipesThe recipes I have tried have all turned out so delicious! And they are unique and fresh!.Version: 1.45

Excited butExcited to have access to recipes from these well known chefs in an app. But (1) when I have a link in an article or email to a Guardian recipe it opens the feast app but not to the recipe, I then have to search. (2) would love to see ratings and comments from readers. That is something I love about the NYT Cooking..Version: 1.73

Customizable?Seems to have some fun, if not too many practical, recipes. And who doesn’t love Yotam Ottolenghi? Like the big, bright pictures. Wish could organize the MyFeast section in folders. We use NYTimes and ATKitchen so will explore this more but really need customizable folders..Version: 1.2

MetricI’m a “dumb” American not knowing metric measurements… Would be helpful and educational if the U.S. standard measurement were next to the metric.Version: 1.46

The bestI’ve tried several recipe collections, this is by far the best, especially for vegetarian recipes.Version: 1.84

Excellent contentLovely app! I’m very happy to pay for such excellent content! I wish you could search and filter your saved recipes and that saved recipes would come up first when you use the search bar! Love that you toggle between vegetarian and omnivore!.Version: 1.76

Print optionLove, love, love recipes, layout, photos. So wish there was an option to print.Version: 1.42

Great butFeast is a wonderful app, that gives me access to many of my favourite chefs. Its layout makes it incredibly useful in the kitchen. The latest version gives me ads by Tesco, which is particularly irritating as there are no Tescos in my country..Version: 1.34

Indispensable for vegan & vegetarianMy only complaint: Saved Recipes need a better sort function. Search alone doesn’t quite cut it. OTHERWISE a GREAT app. Fresh fast delicious recipes. Some more complicated ones too for special occasions (I’m looking at you Ottolenghi). Always big scores for vegan & vegetarian that are fast and a little elevated but not at all fussy. Love that it’s organized by author too. My go-to recipe app. Hands down better than stodgy NYT Cooking app which just doesn’t get vegetarian never mind vegan..Version: 1.38

Lovely AppOne thing I’d love to see included is the nutritional information for each dish for those of us who track such stuff..Version: 1.29

Proven recipes, great layout, realistic picturesI don’t have to hope there are no typos in the recipes. The layout of the pages is excellent - very little scrolling up and down. No ads! I can search by the creator of the recipe, type, event, and ingredients. I may not make the recipe of the day but it often inspires me or reminds me of something I haven’t made for a while..Version: 1.6

Just okayApp is buggy, doesn’t always load on phone. Recipes a little odd for N American tastes. I haven’t tried adding roasting juices to salad dressings but it doesn’t sound appetizing.Version: 1.6

Fresh ideas every day!I switched from the NYT cooking AP and have been pleased as punch! I love the range of cuisines and flavours. Only one wish- the addition of nutritional info would be amazing!.Version: 1.99

Still glitchy and a bit limited.Good to have all these recipes in on place. But since it’s not cheap, the app itself is still very glitchy and missing some key features. E.g. it’s not possible to search your own saved recipes (or to filter a search by save recipes). Also whenever I click a link from a notification on my phone it doesn’t take me to the advertised recipe. So that’s pretty pointless. And for the iPad version, the recipe card is very small, there is a lot of wasted screen space. Would be better to have a large recipe card to it can be read from further away..Version:
