Driver scammed meCalled a ride and the driver showed up in a Toyota Highlander with an empty trunk. He refused to pick me up because I “had too many bags and need to call an XL ride and pay more.” Hopp charged me for the driver cancelling the ride.
I rebooked the trip and fit all my supposedly “excess baggage” in the trunk of the new driver’s Honda Civic. So clearly the original driver is just looking to price gauge people.
I reported this to Hopp customer service with photos of my baggage alone and packed into the Honda Civic. They refused to offer any support or remove the charge.
I guess they’re in on the scam. I hate Uber, but it’s better than a company that chooses not to operate in good faith.

Worst serviceI had a terrible experience with this app. I booked a ride from Warden Station after the subway had issues. The price jumped from around $5 to over $7 within minutes, which I understood might be due to demand. But the real problem was that the app said the driver was “waiting” when he was nowhere near the pickup spot. I was then charged for wait time while I was actually standing in the wind with my infant, watching the driver still far away on the map.
When I called, the driver said he didn’t know where to go and mentioned the road was closed — he clearly wasn’t familiar with the area. I waited nearly 20 minutes for what was supposed to be a 5-minute pickup.
To make things worse, the customer service is honestly a waste of time. It takes days to get a response, and every time it’s a different support person with no resolution. All I was offered was a ridiculous $0.02 waiting fee refund for a $5+ waiting fee, which felt completely dismissive.

Insanely bad customer serviceThe customer service takes 1 day to respond you each time. My friend used my referral code when he downloaded the app with my link, they didn’t give me my referral discount.
