Driver scammed me - Zero support from HoppCalled a ride and the driver showed up in a Toyota Highlander with an empty trunk. He refused to pick me up because I “had too many bags and need to call an XL ride and pay more.” Hopp charged me for the driver cancelling the ride.
I rebooked the trip and fit all my supposedly “excess baggage” in the trunk of the new driver’s Honda Civic. So clearly the original driver is just looking to price gauge people.
I reported this to Hopp customer service with photos of my baggage alone and packed into the Honda Civic. They refused to offer any support or remove the charge.
I guess they’re in on the scam. I hate Uber, but it’s better than a company that chooses not to operate in good faith.

Spirit airline version of UberExactly what my title says. It is a slightly cheaper version of Uber, but ends up being more expensive in the long run. I’ve used it twice. These are both my experiences.
First one my son called he literally got charged seven extra dollars because there was two minutes of traffic.

The second one I had called and the driver didn’t even get the right location. He was literally four blocks away. I even messaged the driver saying you’re not at the right address. He was extremely rude and argued with me and I said look at the road signs where are you? It doesn’t say my address that’s in the app. And then he cancelled the ride. Hopp in a polite way told me to go you know what and they weren’t going to give me a refund.
Honestly, pay the three extra dollars and just take Uber or Lyft.

Unprofessional drivers and hidden chargesAlthough Hopp provides some promotional discounts for first time users, the service is much less desirable. Many drivers are unprofessional and do not speak English so it’s very hard to communicate with them. As a result, they often take the wrong route, which requires detours that increase the total time to get to your destination. GPS is also very glitchy and there are hidden charges that will significantly increase your overall cost, making the total much higher than Uber or Lyft. Although their system GPS indicates the route will be taking a toll road, the toll charges are not included in the upfront cost like most other ride-share apps. Therefore, after the trip, you’ll see a big increase in your total cost to account for the extra toll charge. Finally, their estimated wait time is also extremely off. So I wanted to cancel my ride but the page was stuck and I couldn’t cancel in time, I kept refreshing my app by closing and opening it, but it was stuck and the driver had almost reached the pick up location. Once the app started working I canceled the ride and then I got charged the cancellation fee, I thought let me reach out and explain to them what happened. I went through like four or five agents and one of them asked do you have proof that it got stuck? Like I was supposed to take screenshots or record it when I was trying to cancel in a panic. I have taken Hopp ever since I got the ads for it and have like it and was becoming frequent user but from this interaction I’m really turned off by them. Worst serviceI had a terrible experience with this app. I booked a ride from Warden Station after the subway had issues. The price jumped from around $5 to over $7 within minutes, which I understood might be due to demand. But the real problem was that the app said the driver was “waiting” when he was nowhere near the pickup spot. I was then charged for wait time while I was actually standing in the wind with my infant, watching the driver still far away on the map.
When I called, the driver said he didn’t know where to go and mentioned the road was closed — he clearly wasn’t familiar with the area. I waited nearly 20 minutes for what was supposed to be a 5-minute pickup.
To make things worse, the customer service is honestly a waste of time. It takes days to get a response, and every time it’s a different support person with no resolution. All I was offered was a ridiculous $0.02 waiting fee refund for a $5+ waiting fee, which felt completely dismissive.

Horrible.My recent experience with Hopp has left me profoundly upset. While the convenience of ride-sharing is undeniable, Hopp's handling of a serious harassment incident, involving one of their drivers, was utterly unacceptable.
After enduring an incident of harassment that needed Toronto Police intervention, I expected a modicum of support from Hopp. Instead, I received nothing. No offer of assistance, no follow-up (until after I made an official police report), and certainly no attempt at compensation for the emotional distress caused. Their complete lack of empathy and action in a situation that directly involved their service is appalling.
To add insult to injury, after the harassment incident, it appears that I am unable to delete my account. Furthermore, I am unable to remove my payment method, which is a serious security concern. This raises alarming questions about data security and customer control.
Hopp's apparent indifference to customer safety and well-being, coupled with these technical difficulties, paints a picture of a company that prioritizes profit over people. When you reach out to customer service the app is so messed up that even getting to an agent is a struggle and when you do get connected the agent is useless. Garbage appUnless you pay for priority, their monthly fee or pay additional for some premium ride they will not match you for more than 20 minute. And live in central part of Toronto, Canada with so many uber drivers everywhere. Their own map shows so many drivers but no one picks up the ride. Worse than garbage because it wastes your time when you need to get somewhere on time. More than once I’ve had drivers pick up a ride and before they reach me, they stop at a conscience or grocery store go shopping! WTF. I complained to the app and they did nothing. Terrible Customer SupportHopp has some of the worst customer service I’ve ever dealt with. They are completely unhelpful and seem determined to avoid solving any actual problems. Every response takes forever, and when they finally reply, it’s usually a copy-and-paste answer that does nothing to address the issue.
