Extremely Reliable Taxi App But Can Be Incredibly LaggyBolt often, if not always offers understanding and benevolent drivers for you. I have used this taxi app almost every day for the last 2 years, and have encountered little to no issues with the drivers and the cars. However, the app itself is a different story, as it can severely glitch. I had once scheduled a bolt to come an hour and a half later from when I ordered it. All had seemed well until, while walking towards the bolt, I saw that my bolt app had seemingly canceled the ride and all its history, behaving as if I had never ordered the bolt in the first place. At first, I believed that the drive might have canceled last minute and gave up trying to see if he had really come, as I had not checked yet what the plate was, and began to walk to my destination instead. After walking for about 7 minutes, I got a call from a seemingly random bolt driver who, when I picked up, turned out to be the bolt driver I had ordered to come 10 minutes ago. I eventually managed to find the bolt and, after restarting the app 5 times, finally see the supposedly lost bolt information. Easy to use but spottyThis app was easy to use and set up (we are from US). This service is cheaper than Uber and the taxis from what we have found. Vehicles/drivers are much nicer than taxis and drive better with more comfort. The only issue I have is that the drivers will cancels the rides a lot in the beginning. Maybe they see the destination and decide they don’t want to end up there. Also twice we have been waiting on drivers and the time never goes down. Outdated maps and cannot tip driver!I normally use the U*** competitor, but received a discount promotion for Bolt. The reviews I read claim you can tip the driver within 15 minutes of completing the ride. I was short on change so thought I could just tip in the App. Nope. I then read that one has to apply the tip within 15 minutes of the end of the ride. Still, nope. It really irritates me, because these guys are out driving for this company on holidays and I can’t give them a little extra for their efforts, while Bolt corporate still generates revenue for shareholders….
In addition, I’m not sure what geo location map they use, but it needs to be updated, as I have had to cross the street on several occasions with heavy bags, after realizing they can’t find me. The second time it happened, they were off by 3 km! I would have had to eat that fare had I not noticed it.

Secondly, don't blame the company for issues with drivers or issues in some of the city with weird driver habits. Sure, customer service always has room for improvement, but as a tourist you are always subject of scammers. Better to notify us here with a helpful review.
This means:
1. always add the CITY to your Appstore review
2. avoid card payments, use cash
3. if you use CC, you do it because of convenience. But think twice, most issues arise after CC payments
4. check routes after hopping in with GMaps or similar
5. the in app review system is to avoid any issues but cannot be perfect
6. local laws (price, license for drivers, taxes) for transportation are different per country*
(*) in Budapest for example you have a rate, that is regulated by state. Thus, Taxify (Bolt) rate cannot be cheaper than other services. But if you are already familiar with this app from your home country and you feel safer, especially because of such features like showing an estimated price before the ride (= maximum transparency). Drivers can only cheat you when starting to argue (CC not working, detour without explanation).
In Vilnius the app is perfect: a good amount of drivers is always available. Most of them use Toyota Prius. Yes, not all speak english but all are very friendly. Peak time charges apply sometimes (app shows them clearly). But also discounts available in off-peak times. I can recommend the use of the app in the Baltics 100%.

Unrealistic timesWhen ordering a ride, the app always gives me completely unrealistic wait times—like 2-3 minutes—with a bunch of cars supposedly right around me. But in reality, I always end up waiting at least 8-10 minutes at least. If it says 5 minutes, I know I’ll be waiting 15.
Same goes for the ride duration—it doesn’t seem to factor in traffic, so it’s always longer than what the app shows. That part I can somewhat understand, but the wait times being this inaccurate have caused me real issues more than once.

DisappointingWe installed the Bolt app so that we could get a ride to our hotel from the Lisbon airport. Although we are used to Uber, we were told that Bolt is popular in the area. When we arrived at the pick up area, we were given a list of different kinds of cars that Bolt wanted to send to us. I have successfully used it many timesOn my trip to Portugal, I have successfully used Bolt many times. They advertise a coupon for 70% off your first ride with a coupon. That didn’t work, so that’s why I dinged them one star. You also have to hope the Bolt drivers are interested in your trip. They can cancel if the trip doesn’t pay enough. I figure you can add a tip in advance if that becomes a problem. But I never had to do that since another driver accepted the ride.
But the drivers have been nice, and the cars clean. The cost was sometimes cheaper than the local bus when you have several people traveling together. The fare was always cheaper than the cabs. You don’t have to worry about your cab padding the bill by taking the long route to your destination.
The estimated time your driver will arrive is sometimes optimistic, but you can see the driver making progress on the map, and it hasn’t been off by much.

Good alternative to UberI’ve been using Bolt in France for several days now. All together a good copy of Uber with the exception that I don’t care for the constant, “pay more to get the ride you actually wanted”. Bolts system is similar to Uber but it’s not the same it would appear. Wait times are almost never correct and actual costs vary significantly from the initial estimated cost. Basically it’s a good alternative to Uber which is often very good but Uber prices can fluctuate as well so best practice is to check both services to get the best price. Example comparison rides in Paris can vary from 15-25euros between the two apps depending on time of day and location. Scammed First ExperienceDo not download this app if you’re a foreigner from another country. The first time I tried this app, I was scammed out of my money by a driver I booked by card who told me half way through the trip that I had to pay with cash. I was stuck in this man car, in a foreign country, on the highway, at this person mercy. When I tried to contact the company about this, they had no call number and I was stuck in chat for 30 minutes waiting for assistance. Are you serious? I’m in an emergency and I’m on hold for 30 minutes in a chat? When I reported my problem, I was told to tell the driver that it’s against policy. Do I work for you? You tell the driver, I’m stuck in his car. When I told the company of this app that he’s forcing me to pay with cash, they required me to upload a video to show proof that I was being forced to pay with cash. Unable to upload the video in their chat do to them limiting the size of an attachment, I sent pictures of me physically handing this man cash with his license plate number to prove it’s him. They told me that it wasn’t good enough, and that I had to put the video on google drive and send them the link…. Yes, you heard right. Get video evidence of a man scamming me like he will play along? Wow! Do not do it, it’s not worth downloading. I don’t care what the reviews say. If a driver of this company knows they can get away with this, it will never be fixed. Horrible drivers and customer service behaviorI ordered a delivery and the price was 2400 naira. The driver asked me to pay 3500 and I told him I would pay him 3000 and nothing more ( I have screenshots of this conversation).
The driver arrived and after I paid him, he refused to give me my package until I pay him extra.
I refused and he spend about 15 minutes yelling at me and telling anyone who was around that he won’t give me my product. I left him there because I was uncomfortable, and contacted the bolt customer service who told me that I didn’t have to pay more than was offered on the app.
They said they’d contact him, so I went back to the gate. When I got there I saw my package with a guard, opened and used. I asked them what happened and they said he opened my package and “dashed” them. I contacted customer service after some back and forth, they told me that the driver said he didn’t use the product, and I agreed to the price change. When I asked them how they planning to compensate me for my opened and used product, they said I should go and collect it from the guards. That’s all! Like I should be grateful for that!

Has potential but ridiculous user experienceGreat potential as a ride app but the app was not designed with Africa in mind. EVERY SINGLE TIME a driver will reach out to you to see where you’re going. And if they decide it’s not what they’d like they ask you to cancel. If you refuse (because you’ll be charged) they will literally go about their day and refuse to cancel the trip (I think they do this to avoid being held accountable). So here you are, waiting maybe 5-15 minutes for someone to cancel so that you can call another car to get to where you’re going or forced to pay for something that’s not your fault. I’ve literally had Bolt on in the background for over 25 minutes because a driver refuses to cancel - during this time I’m usually in an Uber because I can’t call another ride.
If this doesn’t waste your time enough, the drivers will also do the same thing if they realize it a a card trip after accepting. I’ve literally got in cars and traveled a bit before the driver realizes the payment method, refuses to take you and tells you to get out.
Of all of this the worst part of this is that Bolt is completely unavailable to help you in these circumstances - there’s no entry point to reach out to them for help, no method to change drivers/payment methods no NOTHING. You can spend 30 min trying to get a car that’s on average 3 min away. This is a problem that happens ALL THE TIME, and makes getting to where you need to go way more stressful than it should be. UnreliableLeaving a review has an opportunity cost. I don’t want to waste my time leaving a detailed negative review because it’s just not worth my time. For Bolt, though, I’ll make an exception. I decided to try Bolt for the first time this weekend. I was in a rush, and Uber wasn’t connecting me to a driver. I downloaded Bolt, thinking I’d give them a chance to win me over. This was a Friday. Bolt tried to connect me, failed, then reconnected to a driver, failed again. At that point, my Uber had connected so that’s what I used. Flash forward to Sunday. Three minutes have elapsed, and it’s still a six minute wait. I’ve been connected to a driver - hurray. Except my ride is cancelled. I decide to take the bus. My wife wants to try Bolt on her account. We connect to a driver. A three minute wait turns into a four minute wait. The driver cancels. We end up taking the TfL bus. It’s reliable. DangerousBolt lets some truly unhinged people drive for them. People who drive very dangerously and are extremely aggressive towards their passengers, to the point of it being physical. Don’t believe me? Look it up. If you say something that makes the driver mad (which is almost always something incredibly innocuous and would not bother 99% of the rest of the global population), they feel entitled to verbally berate you, harass you, threaten you, FOLLOW YOU AS YOU ARE TRYING TO GET AWAY FROM THEM, and scream disgusting racial slurs at you. I also had a driver read ultra-nationalistic propaganda on his phone as he was driving.
But what can be worse than that, you may ask? Well, there is a simple answer to that question. And the answer is how miserable the “customer support” is. When I really needed their help with a deranged, vulgar, violent driver, they sent me a miserable canned form letter in reply and closed the ticket. I had to keep reopening it for HOURS in order to get them to actually reply. They did not take this situation seriously at all. So this deranged driver is still out there, picking people up, and truly making them miserable at best. At worst, he is going to say or do something to the wrong person and things are going to get nasty. Because of that, I want no part of it, so I am discontinuing my use of Bolt immediately. My family and I have the right to feel safe and in the presence of someone who can behave like a civilized human being. And you do as well. So I recommend you skip Bolt and use any other service. YikesI mostly use Uber in the US, but tried Bolt when I was in Latvia. It seemed good, so I made the mistake of trying to use it to get a ride from the airport in Lyon, France. What a mistake. First driver ghosted me, forcing me to cancel the request and take a 7 EUR hit. Second driver accepted, then informed me he'd be charging his EV for the next 45 minutes. Third driver seemed to have left his vehicle and was just not moving at all. I finally switched to Uber instead, got in the car thinking I was finally getting my ride, but then found my driver had ripped off another couple nearby (after they ran up to the car) by accepting my ride through Uber and theirs through Bolt ... and then never cancelling their Bolt ride the same way my first driver did to me, which would force them to take the 7 EUR hit. I contacted support and after 20 minutes of talking to an AI chat bot (truly dystopian) which promised me a refund and then didn't give me one, my case was escalated, I got my refund, but was told it was all my fault and they were only refunding me in this "extremely rare situation". Poor Bolt Driver Service and Client service in GhanaBolt has a very poor driver service as well as poor client support service in Ghana, I tried using their service but due to the poor service, I will recommend that NO one uses Bolt services in Ghana. My ordeal was a day that 5 out of 5 request that all request never happened and I ended up using a local Taxi service which was high but reliable. Mediocre equipment, bad app, horrible supportI used Bolt scooters and bikes all over Krakow for several days. I had poor experiences with the Bolt scooters, many being under powered, not recognizing clear corridors between red zones, and misrepresenting the available power.
I had to uninstall and reinstall the app several times, including once just to end a ride because the app froze and wouldn’t let me stop.
I also had the app freeze at the end of a group ride and only let me finish one of the 4 scooters in the group. When I contacted support, they kept asking what error message I got, and either because they didn’t understand me, or were being intentionally obtuse, would not accept any explanation I tried to give. I uploaded photos of the scooters parking spots, screenshots of the 1st scooters’s completion and tried to appeal to them using their own data, it to no avail. The poor app ended up costing m an additional 45PLN, more than the original ride cost and their support team refused to refund my money despite the overwhelming evidence I presented.

In most cases drivers are professionals, but last time I got driver who didn’t know rotes or specially was driving wrong directions to increase driving time. When we riched the destination application showed 70% MORE amount than ride costs. Regular taxi would take 16-20 GEL but this application charged 35 GEL !! CARL 35. Even driver was surprised by this amount, when I said it’s too much driver said that application sometimes overcharges, he agreed with me but said if i won’t pay he will have to inform Taxify to block me. So I payed having hope to refund that amount. I contacted them trying to proof that I was overcharged, asked them to check rotes driver took. Young woman from support checked and agreed that driver took wrong directions and it made about 4 additional KM and didn’t say anything about crazy charge they took.

Poorly Run, Not Secure At AllFor a few months, a malicious user has been ordering rides after adding my email to their account. I never had a Bolt account before this happened. I tried to contact support to get that account banned--they could not help me if I didn't have my own account to contact their support staff from. So I downloaded the app and made an account to report this fraudulent activity. They have not been able to help me.
If you want to commit fraud on Bolt, it's pretty easy: first, make an account with any email address. Second, change the account's email address to literally any other address. You do not need to verify either address to order, board, complete, and pay for rides. Only downside is that whoever gets your trip summaries knows where you are in nearly real-time.

Terrible - almost missed my flight because of BoltI needed a ride for a flight, and was running early when I called a car through Bolt (my first time ever using the app). It told me that my ride would arrive in 15-25 minutes, which was a long wait and just barely fit within my window to get to the airport in time, but I waited anyway because the app had been recommended to me as reliable. I waited and waited, with the app saying driver details would be shared “shortly before driver arrives.” Finally, 25 minutes had passed and still no driver details or update. At 28 minutes, I got a message saying “we were unable to find a driver for you.” What?! Why did they wait until AFTER the time window I was given to let me know that there was never a driver on the way?? Wrong drop off locations in ThailandI’ve been using Bolt for a week while visiting Thailand for the first time. My last two trips, the app navigated my driver to the wrong locations. The first time, I was aware I was at the wrong location bc it was my hotel. The driver demanded that I pay him 100 more baht to be taken to the correct location. I showed him my app where I entered the address correctly but for down reason the drop off address was different. He refused to take me to the correct location unless I paid more or he threatened to put me out. I paid more and then contacted Bolt. They did nothing about it. Second time, the driver dropped me off at a scenic tourist destination, I exited the vehicle not being aware that I was at the wrong location. I called him back to explain and he told me to hire another ride he was sorry. After going back and forth with Bolt they blamed me for not moving my pin to the correct drop off location. What a disgraceful way to treat your tourists who are visiting and have no idea where they’re going. Any other app, you enter the address and your driver arrives directly at that address. The drivers are apparently from Thailand but have no idea where they’re going and have no compassion or empathy for their riders. They also charge tourist more baht and tell them you’ll take the highway which would get you there faster and the trip takes the exact same time it would have taken had you not agreed upon it! They see disgusting and rob their customers. Be mindul that you need your tourists to keep your community working. Unsafe and bad customer serviceI had a bad experience with an aggressive/impolite driver. I couldn’t find a way to report the misbehavior during the ride. I called the customers service as soon as I arrived to my destination. I was in a hurry, otherwise I would’ve gone to the police station directly. The customer service was busy. I had to call again and again (apparently they were receiving too many complaints to handle them at the same time). I reported the incident, and asked if I can send them the recorded conversation with the driver by email. They said no, upload it through the app, knowing that the app doesn’t have an audio upload tool. I ended up uploading the file on gdrive and sending them the link via the app. Then I called again to check if they received the file. Again, not responsive. Unreliable driver and insufficient customer serviceI was in Paris to visit and to get direction I used google maps. There I found out about bolt. I think I used it in NYC longtime ago.
First in the morning the drive disappeared after a few minutes of wait time. Later it was rainy and cold and the driver did not bother to come and pick us and sent a notification that there is no parking. There was ample place to stop and pick up. I said OK I am coming to you but kept walking and could not reach her. Eventually the map showed that I am at her location but I could not find her car. I told her and instead of any guidance she cancelled the trip and I got a charge for 7 €.
I contacted their customer service and they sent a generic message without really discussing what I write more and when I said I am not satisfied they send another message by a different person asking to get 7€ reimbursement and say that I am satisfied with the customer service.

Canceled taxi at the last minute??I scheduled for a taxi to pick me up ahead of time, and was given an automatic 10 min pickup window of when a taxi would arrive. AFTER the end of that 10 minute window, a couple minutes after it had passed, the app notified me that no taxi driver was found/able to give me a ride. It’s fine if no driver is found, but to notify me AFTER the scheduled pickup time??? It’s completely inconsiderate and favors the driver/app instead of the customer. Your app should have notified me at the beginning of the pickup window or halfway through at least, not AFTER the fact. It’s a good thing I was able to find last minute alternative arrangement to my destination or the rest of my travel plans would have been completely messed up. GPS for pickup is not working correctlyI used Bolt twice in Budapest. Then on my 3rd attempt the driver passed us and stopped two blocks away. Fortunately we saw where he stopped and he was still there as we inconveniently had to run to catch our ride. The next time I used your app (also in Budapest). The driver had an incorrect pickup location. We used the chat feature to contact the driver to give him a precise location but he could not be bothered and cancelled. I am now in Vienna and the first time I used your app the driver went to an incorrect location and cancelled. Tonight (also in Vienna) we saw the driver stop about a block away and before we could get there he cancelled and drove away. We have never had issues like this whenever we use Uber. Worst, most unreliable of all the ride sharing appsI recently tried Bolt on a trip to Lisbon, and it is far inferior to Uber, Grab, FreeNow or other ride sharing apps I’ve tried. For starters, the app seems to have a harder time accurately pinpointing your location, which can be confusing if you are in an unfamiliar place. Also, their drivers are unreliable and dishonest. The first two times I tried Bolt, both drivers made us get out several blocks from our requested location, claiming that cars couldn’t go down those roads. But then as we were waking towards the desired location, we saw cars going on those streets - cars, taxis, etc. I think the drivers are trying to save on gas or fit in more rides per day by dropping passengers off short of their destination. Kenya BoltMultiple times a week, I have issues with drivers cancelling trips. One time last week, 4 different drivers canceled (or asked me to cancel) because they claimed to be too far away. It’s not worth the distance because the customer often has discounted rates, but they can’t afford the petrol to make the trip.
Just now, the app showed me that a driver who was around the corner canceled. I called twice to see what the issue was; he didn’t answer. I ordered an Uber instead. Then the Bolt driver shows up to get me, insisting his side of the app showed the trip. But my app showed he canceled and that I needed to order again (which would’ve been the third time). The app glitched. Because then the cancel option showed up for me, and I had to cancel. EVEN THOUGH EARLIER IT SAID THE DRIVER CANCELED. Explain this please.
Also, many times drivers ask me to cancel because if they cancel it somehow marks against them but if I cancel it doesn’t. I ended up in an app standoff with a driver once because I refused to cancel since he was the one refusing to give me a ride, and ordered through Uber while I stubbornly waited for him to cancel instead (petty, I know, I was extremely frustrated and didn’t understand the issue at the time). So, now if they ask me to cancel, I cancel. Because the drivers aren’t making a lot of pay, and many have financial issues here, so I don’t really want them to have marks against them (whatever that means), which makes their job more difficult.

HORRIBLE !!!💔🤬😡Wouldn’t even advise my worst enemy to use this app. It’s a BIG SCAM! I took a ride which was meant to be 4500 but an additional 2k was put to it. I ended up paying 6500 for my ride. After my ride, I got an email from taxify showing the amount the ride was(4500).I quickly sent an email to them saying that I paid 6500 for it and I wanted a refund of 2k back.
After carrying out the investigation, they asked me to send my account details so as to make a refund, which I did. For 5Good weeks I kept emailing taxify saying I haven’t gotten a refund back and they kept replying my emails saying they would make the refund soon and I should wait a little. To cut the long story short, I never did get a refund and a two month have passed now.
In as much as Uber cost more money, I would rather use their app because I know if anything like this happens, before the week runs out i would already get a refund. Drive tried to kidnap usWhen we hopped in the Bolt, we kindly requested to add a stop which was right next-door to the final destination. The Bolt driver started screaming at us (it was extremely shocking to everyone especially the two young women in the car). Why is it so difficult to get a ride?I've been using this service in Azerbaijan for three years. Over that time the quality has gotten worse and worse. It generally takes about five or six tries to actually get a driver to show up. Most of the time they never move, or else get to a place and then stop without responding to calls or messages. Worst is when they call and ask you to cancel – if you cancel too many times Bolt locks you out of the app (great customer service!). It's really a very frustrating experience. Scamming driversI installed and used this app for the first time and ordered a taxi to get to the hospital while wearing a cast on my leg. No route planning for scooters/bikes to help avoid dead zoneApp is mostly fine, though loads very poorly on slow connections, BUT it’s incredibly frustrating to not have route planning for scooters, especially when there are dead zones all over a city. I use Bolt as a tourist to get around cities I don’t know very well. I can’t see my destination on the Bolt map, and I can’t input it there, so I have to switch to Google Maps to navigate. But Google Maps doesn’t know where the Bolt dead zones are, so I often end up having to stop, flip back and forth between maps, drag the nonworking scooter back out of the dead zone, and try again. Watch out for extra charges!Often times the driver takes “the long route” to increase your charges. He decorated from the Bolt mapped route then your rate that you agreed to is significantly higher without your knowledge. When you try to contact Bolt Customer Service, they won’t respond. Why I rate Bolt as the worst way to rideI enjoyed using bolt to get to clubs or home after a night of drinking. They were much cheaper than Uber for the same thing. However I began to run into serious issues with Bolt. Often times they would charge me around R70 for a trip, and then as soon as I get home they refund me the money and take off around R120 instead of the agreed R70. This happened multiple times. I contacted support who refunded me the whole R120, however then I had bolt drivers coming after me directly (some of them pestering me with calls and messages about 8 times a day) to give them the R70 they were owed because bolt never consulted with them to give me a full refund. When I told these drivers to contact their company to sort it and not me, they told me the company said to fight it out with the client- this just screams unprofessional. Many of the drivers that I did personally refund were immigrants who do not even have accounts in this country- that is terrifying considering I put my life into their hands to get me home safely, but nobody even knows they are here. Some drivers also tried to stay in contact with me even after I refunded them- if that doesn’t scream creepy I don’t know what does. The last straw was when I took a R72 bolt home and shortly after was refunded the R72, only for R642- yes you did read that right, to be taken from my account. Yet, within moments of stepping out of the car, I realized my phone had slipped from my pocket onto the backseat. The realization came no more than two minutes later, and immediately, I attempted to contact the driver through Bolt’s app. What followed was a staggering display of dishonesty and ineptitude. The driver, who clearly noticed my phone, did not answer repeated calls through the app. Instead, he took deliberate action: turning off the device, removing the SIM card, and rendering any hope of locating it through “Find My iPhone” impossible due to the lack of internet connectivity.
Bolt, a service ostensibly designed to connect passengers with drivers in a moment of need, failed on every level. Awful support. Don’t use itI moved to the UK just now and a friend left me some boxes with kitchenware and stuff. I went to pick those and I ordered this service as it appears on Google Maps UK. I use a walking cane and the driver made no effort to help me putting the boxes in the cart, he waited and refused to ride because only one small box did not fit and I wanted to carry it on my lap. Hard to get a driverIt took forever to get a driver, sometimes 5-10 minutes. We would often either give up and walk, or give up and uber. With uber we could almost instantly find a driver. I’m not sure what the bolt drivers see from their end, but it was an endless loop of “looking for driver, found driver, looking for new driver, found driver…” and so on. Occasionally if we waited 10 minutes for a bolt, they would upgrade us to a fancier car for the same price.
