Tried multiple 2.4GHZ networks. No dice.Update: Nespresso support told me to return the machine. I replaced the machine with another Nespresso up. It connected without issue. I’ve used it a few times and it functions. So, the connection issue is a hardware issue and not a software issue. I’m adjusting my star rating but leaving my original review. It’s now a review of the machine and not the software. I am still deducting a star because I’m forced to use WiFi. I shouldn’t be forced to use WiFi. Bluetooth should be enough to use the basic app features (volume, temp, etc). WiFi is only needed for updates and anything you need to access on the web. None of which I care about. I should have the option to skip WiFi and use Bluetooth only. It doesn’t give me that option. I also only have the option to call or send snail mail for support in the app. I should be given an email option. Original review (now about the hardware) I have a brand new Nespresso Up that I cannot adjust the volume on because I cannot connect to it with the app. I tried multiple devices and multiple networks. One had an older router so it had the older WPA security (2 and 3). I tried connecting to a new router. I even tried using the hotspot on my iPhone and using my iPad to set it up. Nothing works. Buggy but a must I guessThe app always signs me out but I suppose my Bissell app does the same. Only Lenovo air filters & Philips hue bulbs have figured out smart devices I guess. At least my machine is still “connected”, unlike my bissell wet dry vac which their app constantly yeets the vac from its memory AND signs me out. I use air quotes bc the machine will show connected on the app but when I go to do an action it will say it’s not so I’ll have to back out the action and tap back in a couple of times before it successfully does it. I like the new volume feature. I had to waste a pod to see if it will keep the volume setting for the size pod you choose indefinitely or if it will reset to default. It does. New App, Still Doesn’t ConnectI’ve been a Nespresso owner for about 5 years now. My vertuo was able to connect to the app when first purchased back in 2021. I noticed it someone disconnected October the following year and I have not been able to reconnect. Despite trying other networks, the same when it did connect, turning on off the machine/phone and even deleting and reinstalling the app. Old app, new app—still have the same issues connecting. Even calling the hotline, they admitted it has been a common issue and it’s only useful anyway for reminders when to clean or descale your machine. It also doesn’t make sense why you have two apps, Nespresso store and Nespresso smart. It would be better if they just focused on strengthening an all-in-one app instead. Does not connect. Not a 2.4G issueNow I know you developers reading this are thinking, well these bad reviews are because we were constrained to having a product with only 2.4G network compatibility. While that is annoying, and I am empathize with that, at least make your app work when there is a 2.4G network available! The app is horrible. Can’t Connect to WiFi!Just recently received my Vertou Up machine today to replace my Vertou Pop+ Deluxe and could not connect to the WiFi with this app. Did not have this issue connecting the Vertou Pop+ to the older app with the same settings on my router. FrustratingThis is the most frustrating app. It’s inconsistent, to say the least. The pages freeze or just don’t do anything. I’ve only ever connected my machine once! Some good some bad.This app adds the ability to set the cup volume (that is how much coffee gets brewed per pod) which is nice but it sets it as a new global setting ideally, the cup volume could be selected for just one cup. The app is a total letdownConsidering the Virtuo Lattissima is and over $300 machine on sale during the holidays and as much as $529 on Nespresso’s own website for fancier black plastic the fact that the app and connected features work so poorly is almost criminal. Let’s start with the first problem which is just opening the app and getting the machine to appear. It can take literal minutes before you even see the machine in the app instead of a spinning circle. Considering that it actually does eventually appear regardless of whether or not the machine has stayed connected to WiFi means that there is no reason a machine that is already connected to the app shouldn’t appear as soon as the app opens so that you know whether or not it’s actually connected to WiFi. That’s a terrible experience and leads me to the WiFi issue. This may or may not be app related, but it just won’t stay connected. My machine is around 15 feet from the router in direct line of sight. We have dozens of smart home items on our network most of which are much further from our router and never have a problem including an entire suite of smart appliances from a number of manufacturers. None of them ever have connection problems and just work. To make matters worse, there is no facility within the app to try and reconnect like every other app for every other device we have. This means that you either need to unplug the machine to get it to reconnect or put it on a switch like we did and wait the couple of minutes for it to connect. If your wanting to use what would be the very useful feature of adjusting the volume of the brew which is a large selling point of this very expensive machine, these combined problems can mean it’s as much as five minutes before you can even start brewing your drink. That’s just absurd. Smart appliances and smart apps have been around for over a decade now. Everyone else figured out how to make this stuff work seamlessly years ago. The recipe tab is completely useless yet it was another huge selling point for the app and the machine. There are three recipes in it for the machine we have and none of them are anything you can’t make using basic button presses without the app since it’s just basic instruction for the basic things the machine can do automatically and not actual recipes at all. Complete waste of space and coding and completely useless. It’s like marketing said we need this to sell more machines so they thru it in so they could say it was a feature. The only real reason to have this app is the help section where you go to get firmware updates and get help with mechanical issues. Hopefully I never need to use the help but it’s good that it’s an option considering the durability issues the Virtuo line seems to have. Wifi setup is horribleI was able to pair my iPhone14Pro with the Vertuo Next Limited Edition; however, it failed to connect to my WiFi. I know for a fact the passwords were correct. I do however, have a MAC filtering list; and apparently no MAC ID is provided on the case of the Nespresso machine. This is likely due to the Vertuo using a private or rotating MAC ID. Once I disabled my filtering list it was able to connect even with WPA3/WPA2AES set as the default authentication on a dual Band ASUS Archer 6600 router. It would be nice if the documentation’s stated that MAC filtering could be an issue due to the private/rotating MAC ID on the Vertuo Next. The machines device name by default appears to be “other”, but this can be changed after connecting. The model also shows as “other”, and can’t be changed..CtrlYVersion: 1.2.2

Does not work wellGot the app, not expecting much since i deleted the previous app for not working. This one, fired it up, went to add my machine. Took 5 tries to successfully add it even standing right by it. Connected to wifi, it dropped it, had to enter it all again. Now machine wanted an update ok. Attempted. App or whatever takes so long to connect to machine the machine shuts itself off. Another 4 tried and i walked away. I guess it decided to update. Did not notify it was done. Went back to the machine and loaded the app. I have no machines listed. Closed and reloaded the app, my machine is there. This is worse than the old app if that is possible. Why is machine offline all the time? What is point of app if you aren’t connect to the machineJust open the my new nespresso machine. Works fine but you can’t program your coffee since app is 98% not connected to it. Machine wifi connect go offline with 15 minutes after your machine coffee. You have to physically open the lid or press the one button on top to get to come online which takes 15 mins. This is a joke.
