Pixelmator Classic iOS App Comments & Reviews
Pixelmator Classic iOS Positive Reviews
Can we get a Isometric Drawing Guide (Please)This feature is available in others but I think it would be useful for drawing 3D scenes, and such. Thank you so much, this app is ultimately amazing, some say the new UI is terrible but I disagree because it’s looks more modern and similar to Apple. I hope you implement my suggestion, because I have this and I was sad I had to use other apps such as: Inkscape to make isometric, which not only hard and difficult I feel that you could find a way to do it. Snap to the grid where when you draw the lines would snap to the isometric grid until you disable it, this would be important too. Please do this, overall 10/10..Version: 2.8.3
Selection features is all this app needs!Object and background removal Sky replacement I been using this app since launch and its been my go to editor on iphone for social media. I just wish there were some faster selection methods than erasing the top layer. Is there anything in the Works for this?.Version: 2.8.1
New bugs are making usage a lot harderThis is the best photo editing app I've been able to find, and I've used it for years. But recently, there's some problems, mostly involving layers. The most annoying to me is that, when I copy and paste something, it often ends up far away from where it was copied from, to the point where it's usually out of the editing area entirely. This can be a real pain if the pasted item is very small. There's also cases where layers don't respond when selected, previews on the sidebar don't update... these are all fairly recent, they only started happening in the past few months..Version: 2.8.1
Please at a color picker to the text color panelI love PixelMator. I’ve been using it since the beginning. Therefore, as an old user, I am asking the developers please consider adding a color pick to the text color panel where we usually choose what color you want for our texts. And one more thing please when we are trying to choose a color, the page will be behind the color panel where we cannot see what color are we actually choosing. So please make sure when we are trying to choose the color the page goes up to the top of the PixelMator window..Version: 2.8.3
I’ve loved this app for awhile but please fix this with new update!I’ve been using this app since 2015 and it has been a great app with everything I need and more. Unfortunately with the new update that came out recently I can’t darken photos like I was able to before. I loved using this feature and it’s sad to see it change. Please make it darker so I can darken my backgrounds in my photos!! Otherwise this app is great!.Version: 2.8.3
Exactly what I neededThis app is awesome! It brings the sort of editing tools I'd normally reach for gimp/photoshop for to my iPhone in a surprisingly intuitive UI layout. Now I can make spur-of-the-moment memes on my phone >:3.Version: 2.8.1
Awesome productAbsolutely amazing app, easy to use and amazing results in few clicks. I love it. My best investment in app..Version: 2.8.3
No ability to work with GIFsThe app itself is terrific, which is why I’m rating it four stars. But the inability to work with gifs is very frustrating, and shouldn’t be a limitation of such an expensive app..Version: 2.8.3
I gave three starsI gave this three stars because I was not able to find stuff since yiu updated the app. It used to be five stars but now three. It’s hard to find where they are..Version: 2.8.3
Blown Away. This app is simply amazing. It has officially replaced the Photoshop Touch app for me! The fact that I can adjust the curves is just so perfect since I use it so often on desktop editors. Also the UI is gorgeous. You guys have done an excellent job in matching the design with the theme of iOS7/8! Not only does it look beautiful, but it also works in a swift easy-to-use way. It definitely beats the UI for Photoshop Touch! The one thing I would ask for: more options for adjusting the colors of the image. Even though it currently has the most advanced color adjustment tools on the App Store, I would like to see an app that allows me to take full control (Such as in the desktop version of Adobe Lightroom). It would be incredible if you guys could design an app that allows me to adjust things like split toning, individual color adjustments, and RGB curves. It's ok that these features aren't present right now, I'm not gonna complain. This app still gets a 5 star rating from me, and I would totally recommend this to all photographers and artists!.Version: 1.0
Necessary features are missing. The app is ok for quick sketches but that’s about it. As a graphic designer I need to do things on the fly and find myself frustrated with the features this app lacks. Many times I jump to this app to quickly put something together as a semi mock-up for clients. Simple features the app lacks are essential to anyone who does graphic work. A few missing features are skew & free transform. The distortion features in the app are pretty worthless imo. If I have a logo and need to add simple text I am unable to skew or italicize the text to fit image angles properly. This is a simple function that can be added to the text options/features. There needs to be a angle or skew tab in there to angle the text slant in a positive or negative direction. My second major issue is the same thing with images or object layers. There should be a free transform option or a skew or slant feature to grab individual points of an object to allow for easy manipulation. Or to be able to move only 2 points and adjust the angle/slant of any objects to add alternate perspective to the image objects. If the app had those two features added I would give it 5 stars. There are some great features. But the app itself is very limiting with essential functions that limit the user..Version: 2.6.4
Lovely little appI’ve had this app for a very long time, never took the time to learn how to use it. I like easy quick fast and fun. Years later, cleaning up my phone opened this app, I had forgotten about. To my amazement, it has turned into the only app I use to edit and design with. I have learned through the method of “school of hard knocks” I dislike reading and generally can not focus long enough for information read to sink in. I suppose I’d rather waste several hours using the trial and error Method than a few seconds or minutes of reading. 🙄 I am still stumbling onto the amazing things you can do with Pixelmator. I have Pixelmator pro on my Mac and I love it! I don’t quite understand what the hype is about other main editing apps and programs are all about and the weird idea of having to pay monthly or yearly to use them? Pixelmator just can’t be beat. With that said, stop thinking about which app to get and we’ll I’ll decide for you, Pixelmator hands down is the way you need to go. 👍.Version: 2.4.5
I miss the smudge brushesUpdate- im not sure if the smudge brushes were called the smudge brushes on the app but they were the last set of brushes next to water color and i used it to smudge and blend. There were a lot of options. I miss them. I think there was a wax one and oil one i forget their names even though i used them almost daily for awhile. A friend asked me to touch up a photo and i logged in with intention of the app being the same as i used before and noticed a lot had changed. I tried the new smudge feature and there were no brush options the old app had tons of brushes like 8 or 10. I loved them all. a circle also was there too when i was trying to use the new smudge. Im not sure if there was an option to take that circle away. Some ppl may find it helpful. I also miss the percentage for brush sizes. I also noticed the waterbrush section was missing but i think they may have been condensed into paintbrushes in general. So they still may be there just not in their own catergory. I really appreciate the app and dont want to sound negative i just miss my smudge brushes.Version: 2.7.1
Great! This app has many great ways to change and perfect your pictures from whole picture changes like adding lens flares, sharpening or blurring the image, or adjusting the saturation, contrast, and lighting with a few clicks. You can also use a (finger) brush tool to make minute and focused adjustments, and there is an awesome repair tool to fix any mistakes within the picture (it is extremely surprising how well it works). There are lots of other things that you can use to change your pictures, and this app is VERY affordable. I would recommend it 100% Some things that I would like to request are buttons to adjust the contrast/lighting/saturation levels by a percentage at a time so that minute adjustments can be made. Also if a picture preview could be used to make sure you know which image you want to use. I’ve noticed that if I have a lot of similar images , I am doing a lot of guess and check to make sure I have the right image. And if that can’t be done, a “replace” option would be nice rather than what is there now. It would also be convenient if you could take photos from your library and open them in the app. Now, I don’t know much about app making, so I don’t know what is or isn’t feasible, but all of these things would be great to see in the app. All in all, this photo editor is fantastic, and I would recommend it to anyone. It’s very affordable and very useful.!!!.Version: 2.0.1
It's promising...Ever since the death of PhotoForge² (my it RIP next to Sparrow, Poster, KitCam, and now Photoshop Touch) I have been searching for a worthy replacement. While this app doesn't allow me to finally delete PhotoForge off my phone as PhotoForge is still the only app that supports layer masks, it does mostly fill in for the other features. A few other things: Pixelmator for iPhone is lightning fast. I put it through the works and was only able to make it stall on while making a large selection on a huge panoramic image. However, if you do something like adjust a layer's curves (which unfortunately cannot be adjusted in the individual channels yet) it happens in real time and the histogram is updated as you drag your finger around. No other app I have found has both this solid drawing engine and can do general photo editing. Hopefully in the future every feature of the desktop app will be present on the iPhone and the only slow down in editing will come from what is inherent with the form factor..Version: 2.0.1
Absolutely amazing. Everybody should own this app.The minute I opened Pixelmator, all of my desktop projects in iCloud were there. Aside from an image size limitation I encountered, the functionality was smooth and powerful. This is a great app with with a great design. It looks and just like the desktop version. This interface so perfectly captures Apple's app aesthetic that you could be forgiven for assuming that Pixelmator had been acquired by Apple. I've been using Photoshop Touch for about a year now, and now that Pixelmator is here I can say: Never again! Are you paying attention Adobe? This is how it's done. Bravo, dev team. I'm looking forward to future updates and a the possibility of an iPhone version as well. The only thing I hope to see updated is the image size limitation. I don't know exactly what that limit is, or whether it is device-specific. I have an iPad 3 (the first retina model)..Version: 2.3
Still fantastic, but with some clunky UII have been making edits with this app for several years and I love it! But recent changes have made the tools a bit harder to use, for me. The buttons are now a selection of wide buttons that take up basically the entire width of the tools window (on iPhone), which makes it annoying to quickly go back-and-forth between actions. My suggestion is to maybe offer an option to condense the bottoms to just the symbols, side-by-side. That way you can still recognize each tool while quickly having access to it all on the fly! The other minor annoyance I have is the top options no longer hide when you tap on it. I frequently used this feature to see exactly how my images look as wallpapers. Now I’d have to export the image before knowing exactly how it’ll turn out. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Besides those issues, I love this app and will continue to use it for the foreseeable future!.Version: 2.7.3
Perfect for Pixel Art - Except One IssueI love Pixelmator - very smooth, simple, and easy to use, with lots of diverse tools. I use it mainly for pixel art, because simply enough, there aren’t and good tools to make pixel art or animations out there. This one has huge potential. One issue, however - when making pixel art, somewhere in the process of closing the file and reopening it, or somewhere in there, it becomes ever so slightly distorted in color. Pixels near the edge of other colored pixels will blend in color - and thus it’s impossible to maintain image quality. I’ve also noticed this in my non-pixellated work - a tiny loss in quality as I work over a period of days. I’ve tried everything to experiment and see if it was me causing the problem - but can’t seem to solve it (using iPhone 6 plus). Unfortunately, I can’t rely on the app to export when using it for game art or anything like that. However, if this issue were to be solved, it would easily be five stars, and the best art application out there..Version: 2.4
One of my top three appsAnd gets 5 stars in every category I would rate it on. I edit only as a hobby. I first tried Photoshop-way to big of a learning curve for a hobby. Then I enjoyed 5 years with the paid version of Photoleap but a major update diminished what I liked about it. After 2 weeks of research I decided Pixelmator seemed to offer what I was looking for. WOW! After 9 mos of use I can confidently say it offers the professional level of Photoshop, the ease of Photoleap and a level of help documentation I seldom find in any app in any category. My #1 ask when looking for a new photo editor was that it was available for both iPad Pro 11 and Mac with Apple level cohesiveness between them. I haven’t downloaded the app to my MBP but from the little I’ve seen of it, I have much to look forward to. I’ll report back on that soon!.Version: 2.7.3
Great appThis is really nice. Simple yet powerful, it makes my iPad so much more useful. I use it all the time, as I take many photos. I have bought hundreds of apps from the App Store, and this is the first one that is absolutely perfect. The best app I've ever had. I have absolutely no problem with it at all. Don't use this as an excuse to stop innovating, you can be the best of the best of the best. I don't really get why you didn't make an iPhone version. I understand that the 5 and 5s are too small, why not the 6 and 6 plus? They are incredibly powerful and person, I take MUCH more photos with my iPhone 6. I would use Pixelmator a lot more. If I have a photo I want to edit, I have to take part in the lengthy process of transferring it over to my iPad. I think it would be much easier to add compatibility to iPhones. If you do is, then Pixelmator will be a truly great app..Version: 1.0.1
Great Photo Editor, missing a few featuresOverall this is a great tool for doing photo manipulation. I use it for compositing images and annotating images for promotional graphics. The interface is definitely a little challenging to get your head around at first and I wish there were more video tutorials for it, but once you get your head around the limits and idiosyncrasies, you can really fly. Probably the biggest missing thing for me is alpha layers... Without having some kind of alpha mask layer, compositing images is very frustrating. One of the more common things I do is duplicate a layer, mask off part of it them apply filters to one of the layers. This works well for applying an effect to only part of the image. With pixelmater on the iPad the closest I could do to replicating this was copying a section of the page and pasting that as a new layer. This works ok, but you can't adjust which portions of the image are masked after your initial copy/ paste which means if you make a mistake early in the process it's very difficult to fix it without repeating a bunch of steps. Overall, I've been able to do some impressive stuff, but the problems with layer masks and a few UI issues really hold it back. 5 stars because it's the best on the iPad, But it's still missing some vital stuff..Version: 2.2.1
Pixelmator is now universal! Fantastic app that is fun to useUPDATE: If there's one feature I could request it would be a button that lets you see the photo before the last edits without hitting the undo button then hitting the redo button. Original Review: I bought pixelmator when it was for iPad only and it was so nice to get the new iPhone version for free! Pixelmator is a very powerful photo editing app that has everything you'd want to create a better looking picture. It has editing tools that the competition doesn't have (eg repair and warp tools) and incredible painting tools that set it apart from the rest. Now that it's universal between iOS and Mac it's so easy to be able to edit your photos wherever you are and then go to another device and see all the pictures you've edited in pixelmator. Great update, and you won't regret buying it :).Version: 2.0.1
New update is awesome, but still a few missing thingsReally love the new keyboard and trackpad support—really makes it feel like a pro app. Thanks for fixing the issues with selection editing with the keyboard too! As some of the other reviews mentioned, the UI is definitely a little clunky especially on big iPad screens—especially the two modal screens you have to go through to choose a specific brush or selection type. The keyboard shortcuts make this a lot easier, but I don’t always have access to a keyboard (like when I’m drawing with Apple Pencil). Would love to have a tool sidebar kind of like the desktop Pixelmator app! There’s also some keyboard functionality missing like being able to select multiple layers/objects on the canvas with Shift or Command. A nice little bonus would be to have enhanced pointer shapes with brushes, erasers, etc. What if we had bigger pointers for larger brush sizes? Maybe a crosshair for more precise sizes? How about a unique pointer shape for the pixel brush tool, which also has pointer snapping to each pixel for even more precision? So many possibilities to make this a really unique experience for the iPad. It would also be nice to have support for multiple windows to make working with multiple docs at the same time easier. Totally understand if this can’t be done due to app memory limits though….Version: 2.6.1
Improving with each new releaseI've been using this app since it first released. I do not find it as intuitive or easy to use as my other long-trusted other apps (Photogene, Snapsee, Procreate, iDraw). It has an interface that in many ways is much like Apple's Numbers & Keynote Apps, which is either good or bad depending on one's tastes. There are certain things this app does which my others either do not do at all, or do not do so easily (healing, is very easy in this app for example, the improved selection tools are great!). Each new release I find the additional features give me even more reasons to use this app on my iPad Pro. I also have the Mac version of this - love the iCloud integration which lets me work on the same file from either device. Thanks to the developers for their passion, hard work, and persistence!.Version: 2.3
Good app, a few suggestionsThe latest update definitely did improve Pixelmator’s design and gave it more editing features for a variety of art styles. However, I suggest a few things to be added/fixed: - Color fill bucket to quickly color in a drawing without having to color it in by paintbrush, which takes longer - An eyedrop tool when choosing colors under the gradient option to make the desired color a gradient - An option to delete color swatches if a color swatch is created by accident - Occasionally, the app would crash while I’m working on a piece of artwork, and sometimes the artwork that I’ve worked hard on would disappear after crashing with no way to get it back, which I was disappointed about. I had first noticed this issue after the big update, so I’m not sure if it had been caused by the update. Saving it does help when I click on “Images” in the top left corner of the screen and going back into my project but I would rather not have to do that and a piece of artwork I was working on somehow disappeared when it had crashed again even though it had been saved more than once. I hope this issue would be fixed to prevent other users from losing their projects, especially ones they spent a long time on..Version: 2.7.2
Great app for photo editing it’s worth the money. My overall impression of this app is really good being someone that’s experienced and using Photoshop and therefore being kind of spoiled, I really like this app. I do have a couple of small grapes with this app. One feature that all editing software should have as you should be able to crop you’re photos to a specific set size. Let’s say I’m working on a photo that’s already preset For Blu-ray dimensions I should be able to go up in the top left-hand corner and pull the cropping tool all the way down so that it extends from one side of the photo to the other, You should be able to slide the crop box area up and down your photo to select where you want to crop and then crop that photo to your specified dimensions. The second Feature that is missing In this app is save as a tiff file, if you’re an experienced photographer you should know already that if you’re going to edit your file you need to convert it as a tiff file first, the reason for this is most other photo files are compressed like a JPEG file for instance, when you’re editing a compressed photo file and then save that file over again your recompressing the file again causing a artifacts in your photos which completely defeats the purpose of editing your photo In the first place..Version: 2.4.4
My favorite photo editorWhat the h…. this app has only four stars??? How is that even possible? If there’s a 5 star app on my phone, it’s Pixelmator - comparing all the (dozens and dozens) of iPhone editors I’ve tried over the years, Pixelmator takes the crown. Every aspect of this app, every little detail, has obviously been tweaked to perfection. I used to do most of my photo editing on a Mac in the past, but since the day I installed Pixelmator for iPhone I hardly ever open the Mac version anymore - it is such a joy to work with the iPhone app and the results I get are just stunning. A big thank you to the Pixelmator team - these guys have an eye for pixel perfect UI design. I admire how they’re sweating every little detail and how their tools are not only fun to work with but also innovative, clever and inherently usable. 5 stars all the way, well deserved..Version: 2.1
Bought it years ago, and still worth itI bought Pixelmator years ago, and it’s still my favorite iOS editing app. I only have two features that I believe are is missing. One is the ability to select a layer, and crop it. I’ve found a way around it by using the selection tool and then manually cropping but if I’m already at max layers (4 when doing the max size image) I can’t copy it into a new layer so I’m forced to merge layers or manually erase extras. The other missing feature is the ability to pull a color for text with the dropper. It’s available for painting, but not for text color. I believe the image size and layers are a limitation of device speed, to keep the app from crashing or slowing down, but if I’m wrong, that limit should be removed..Version: 2.6.4
A Wonderful Addition to the ToolboxYes, the interface is a bit cumbersome, but Pixelmator is packed with features. It seems most of the poor review are from folks who are looking for yet another app packed with dozens of 'filters', where dropping $5 really would be a big 'splurge'. This is not one of those apps. But if you're looking for an image program that can open up Photoshop files with layers, this is your app. If you need an app that supports layer styles (including strokes, color overlays, gradients, drop shadows, and blending modes), masking with feathering, smart shapes, healing tools, distortion tools, painting ability with over 100 brushes and smudge tools, along with a smart collection of color and level adjustment tools, all in one app, this is a great choice. And it even has some nice filters. Just not hundreds of them. ;).Version: 2.2.1
A studio on my phoneThis is an AWESOME app! Literally fills me with awe. I’m always finding new features and new things to do with it; recently I discovered that I can even lay down a thick layer of color, as I would with my brush, and blend it. I haven’t found a single technique I used as a fine artist that I can’t digitally recreate. But my favorite feature is the one that brushes and pencils don’t come with: UNDO. UNDO saves me from those times when I’m trying too hard to make it perfect, and end up going one smudge too far. With real-world tools, I was stuck. I couldn’t make that mistake disappear completely, and I didn't end up with what I had before I goofed. Now I have the power of UNDO. It’s the little things….Version: 2.6.4
Nice, but not quite. This is one of the best photo editing apps for iPad. However, it's still light years behind the desktop version (which in all fairness, can also be said about the Mac vs iOS Photoshop). Some tasks which are simple and quick on the desktop either take too many steps on this app or are not even possible (there's no "Invert Selection" or a Paint Bucket Fill -- why?!?) It also does not support any shortcuts if you have a bluetooth keyboard connected, which would be very useful. I should probably give it 3 stars but I do give them extra credit for being on the right track. I know an iPad app can never 100% replace the Mac version, but there are some glaring holes in the iOS Pixelmator which leave me scratching my head and thinking "Wait, I can't do the basic task of ABC, but they included the ability to do XYZ which I will probably never use???".Version: 1.0.1
Back up all of your images before upgradingAll of my previous Pixelmator projects have lost their thumbnails, so I have to open them in order to see what they are, which changes their time stamps, even if I make no changes. And even then, the thumbnails are not created. Also, regardless of where you opened your project from, when you close that project, it reverts to a (useless) project list, and you have to navigate back to wherever you were when you opened the previous project. And you can't move documents to different folders. Why bother with folders if you can only really find them by going unit "Recents"? I can't imagine any reason for this upgrade, though I suppose people who use Bluetooth keyboards are appreciative of having more keyboard shortcuts..Version: 2.6.3
Great App just missing some FunctionsThis app is a great app for editing photos. It’s awesome. The layers, color selection tools, painting tools, selection tools, color editing tools, all the tools are really good. The biggest function that this app lacks in my opinion is a key frame option. The inability to creat gifs or other short animated forms is a reason why I still use other photo editing applications such as photoshop. A key frame feature would be awesome maybe even an option to turn each layer into a gif when exporting. The biggest issue I have with this app is that it never saves projects on the device. I like that it syncs and is well connected to the iCloud but when your working on a project then close the app for a second to check something and then come back and have to wait for the project to download again it’s a big annoyance after a while. If an option could be added to store projects on phone that would be great. I want to thank the Pixelmator team for making this app. It is a great app and overtime I think it will continue to get better. I hope you take on my feedback and eventually the features I mentioned get added. But once again thank you for making the best photo editing app on IOS..Version: 2.5.3
Mini-Photoshop!If you’re looking for the basics of Adobe Photoshop, this app is perfect! I’ve been looking for a suitable replacement for PS since purchasing the iPad Pro (10.5) this past month. And unfortunately, besides LightRoom, the Adobe iPad apps still fall pretty short. Most people referred me to Affinity Photo on iPad (which looks amazing). But for the price of Pixelmator, I just had to try it out... And WOW 🙈. Awesome job you guys! I’ve been using it with the Apple Pencil for a few days, and for the first time, I actually don’t miss my laptop while doing light photo editing and sketching. Can’t wait to see future updates. Definitely some serious potential here!.Version: 2.4.1
Okay...but....Definitely not intuitive for me. Eventually I figured it out, but some stuff is just not possible. 1) can't add text boxes. 2) cant change the color of a selected item 3) since I have to use my laptop to do the previous I actually cannot open the file from imessge. I have to airdrop which is fine unless its collaborative. 4) since there were text layers added, my iPad just doesnt have the processing power so Pixelmator converts the file into a jpeg that isnt editable. which makes it really tiresome going back and forth between devices. Seriosuly? no text boxes? I used Pixelmator to draw out simple food items for a nutritional education project. I wish the crayon really meant the Crayola kind of crayon but fine. And for any kind of marker, i can only use the ballpoint "paint". Otherwise, apple pencil and this app is adequate for my needs...just cumbersome..Version: 2.3
A second class citizen on iOS until layers support is addedPixelmator Pro on Mac OS is a fabulous product for anyone looking for an alternative to the Adobe subscription offering. However, the iOS offering does not support all the features available on the desktop product; mostly glaringly the lack of support for layers and .pxd file support. For an otherwise very sound product, this came as a rude surprise the first time I started a project on Mac OS, saved the pxd file to iCloud, then tried to open on iOS with the intention to do some masking refinement using the Apple Pencil. Sadly, this was not supported at the time I write this review. So, beware that there is not proper integration between the desktop and iOS Pixelmators and don’t count on being able to move back and forth between the platforms as part of your workflow..Version: 2.6.3
EhhhMy immediate take on this app is that it doesn't do anything new and it's just the same kind of editing and painting available in other apps I already have. and these other apps do it a little better imo. give yourself awhile to get used to the UI, cause it's not very intuitive - at least it's not unless you're thinking in terms Apple Pages as a painting app, then I guess it's solid. maybe if I spend more time with it I might find more unique characteristics that set it apart from the rest, or at least bring it side by side. but I'm not holding my breath. *this app made me think that the App Store, for all of its similarly developed apps that deserve some stark comparisons ought to offer trial periods or the ability to "return" an app for App Store credit. it's impossible to know what works better for what you're doing unless you buy (rent .. we never actually own any app. I've had one or two that I used very often disappear only to return asking for more money) and absorb the cost of experimentation. something should be changed about the commitment to apps - at least those that are used for production (games I suppose should be at your own risk)..Version: 2.3
Just okayI’ve been using Pixelmator Pro on my Mac for about a year now. I love everything that has to offer. Unfortunately my Mac has been living the last of its life and I’ve decided to go with an IPadpro as replacement (I truly only used my Mac for my hobby of editing photos I take). I was disappointed Pixelmator Pro wasn’t an option for such a great device. Pixelmator is just “okay” for quick edits, but nothing too advanced-at all. I’m sad I don’t have access to the mirror tool, and removing objects more efficiently. I’m just sappy I’ve learned so much of this software yet there’s no Pro version for IPad. If this ever becomes a thing, I’ll definitely be investing once more..Version: 2.6.4
10/10, IncredibleI’ve been using Pixelmator almost every day for 5 years now to edit my product photography. It’s incredible. The ease of use, flat rate price and dynamic tools are simply unmatched. With this app I’ve managed to build a business entirely from my phone and now quit my day job! Thank you so much to the Pixelmator team, keep doing what you’re doing 🤞🏼.Version: 3.1.2
Great graphics app!I’ve used this app for many years. I’m surprised I didn’t write a review sooner. I love the simplicity of the design. It’s sooo much easier to use then that behemoth Photoshop..Version: 3.1.10
Great app.Surprisingly powerful. I love using it. I am constantly learning about the features. There is a little bit of a glitch with the odd crash, this is annoying because I lose my work. I hope they iron that out. Aside from that? I believe you should buy it. It’s worth it..Version: 2.9.2
No EDR supportPlease add EDR support..Version: 3.1.1
A must Have for those who work with Photographers and PaintingWhile I will use procreate for creating professional painting. I will use this app for all editing of my photos and quick touch up of some artwork. It has simple yet powerful tools that any beginner and professional will use daily..Version: 2.9.2
Incredibly awesomeWish I found this earlier..Version: 2.4.4
Love it until it freezesJust bought the app and love it. Edited one photo and then the minute I opened the second photo, it freezes. App crashes every single time now. Please see what's wrong?.Version: 2.3.1
Excellent!A very good photo editor at a very affordable cost. It has a bit of a learning curve but that is to be expected that offers a rich set of photo editing tools. Also, I love and appreciate the idea behind the pay once for the full version approach. Please keep it at the same. I do have a few suggestions though which might make the user experience a little better: 1. Redos are hidden behind a tap and hold and you have to repeat the action multiple times to redo your last action. Both redo and undo as well as most of the other actions could be replaced with icons (also to preserve real estate). A long press could possibly host a sub menu or a text/header/hint. 2. State management for undo and redo is good. Maybe in the future a History tab could be provided for a quick undo/redo. 3. Gradients seem to be missing. 4. I am not sure as I haven’t compared but I have a feeling that blending modes could be more powerful. 5. Blending modes are indispensable to photo editing but again, are hidden behind a Format menu. That is not at all obvious to the user. I believe blending modes should also be accessible from the main page. 6. Blending mode cannot be currently applied to a group. You have to ungroup the images, apply the mode and then group the images again. Though you do have the option to merge. There might be a few more things but I am pretty sure the team behind Pixelmator already has priorities set for improvements and add-ons for their next version. Overall, very good and I would suggest people to support the engineers behind this..Version: 2.4.2
2 stars dinged for losing all my documents when I exchanged iPadICloud sharing only is just garbage for those of us who refuse to buy into more cloud storage. I need to offload my documents to desktop, NOT TO A STUPID CLOUD. I lost every document in frustration when I tried to offload some work before restoring and exchanging a device. Why not just keep a doc in iTunes file share? I am so sick of the lack of transparency and redundancy of iCloud sharing running amok and trying to take control of everything I do on my Apple gear..Version: 2.3
Great graphic editing appsI use this for all my office marketing. It’s pretty easy to use. I wish you could crop individual layers..Version: 2.6
Brilliant and easy to useThis app has sold me Pixelmator for Mac but the iOS version is so much easier to use so I don’t even bother with the Mac version. Still great to support the dev for such a great piece of work..Version: 2.4.3
Extensive editorLearning curve, but fantastic capabilities.Version: 2.0.2
Good but...The app itself is really good, excellent editing and tools selection! However, once you save your file (or by mistake) there is no redo... you cannot redo what you did... please fix it!.Version: 2.3
Exactly what i neededThis app is so well conceive. It's an almost complete photo editor and for my use, it is on par with its mac counterpart. I can finally edit my pictures on the go without traveling with my mac. This app is worth its price. :D.Version: 1.0.1
Layers and selecting are amazingI can't believe this app is only 5 bucks. It feels so powerful!.Version: 1.0.1
July update is great. One request though. Please add back numerical values to sliders. Useful for consistency when editing multiple photos. Thanks..Version: 2.7
Looooove itI love this app so much. I hope it continues to get support since Pixelmator Photo, while also awesome, is a different kind of app all together. This is my go-to tool for creating images for work that need to be specific resolutions and many of my posts on Instagram start here since Instagram crops portrait oriented photos.Version: 2.6.4
Interface needs to be updated.Love this app but I 100% believe it could be better with an improved interface..Version: 2.6.4
Great but a few suggestions!!!There should be a clipping mask option along with maybe a pen tool. (Like photoshop).Version: 2.6.4
AmazingGreat app for photo editing and graphic design that i’ve used for years!!.Version: 2.6.3
Dude this thing is sickThis is like the only App Store review I’ve ever left but this is the best app I’ve ever bought. Been using it for years, quicker faster easier and better than photoshop for 95% of things I edit, and I be editing. It’s not Lightroom (at least on iPhone) so don’t expect it to be better at editing colours and exposure and stuff, but it’s infinitely better than the photoshop app for iPhone for graphics, edits, etc. Thanks guys. You make my life easier.Version: 2.6.3
Best Pixelmator featureI have been using the app for many years now and one of their most unrecognized feature is the ability to change the art board size and make it almost as big as a billboard?!?! Okay a bit of enthusiastic exaggeration here but if your photos or artworks involving ‘pixels’ you will be pleasantly surprised the quality of the output when you print. A must have app..Version: 2.6.2
IGypsy37I have been using Pixelmator since it first came out on desktop and after that iOS. It is my number 1 go to app for editing and building images. There is so much that can be done with this app. I highly recommend it! What I would like to see, though, is the ability to position the centre point of the vignette effect anywhere on the image..Version: 2.5.4
Bad color banding issueThe gradient maker is useless as there is a massive color banding issue. I reached out to the developer months ago and the issue has yet to be addressed. I will update my review when the issue is fixed!.Version: 2.5.5
Great investmentBought this app in my first year of Middle School, gathered up some money (that was a lot for me at the time) and paid for it. 5 years later, now at my end of High School, I am still using it regularly for school or personal projects. Had a bit to learn at the beginning, but it’s a great tool for what it’s worth and gets the job done if you know how to. Couple of my school friends ended up buying this too. Would recommend.Version: 2.4.8
FORGET PHOTOSHOP!I’m only a hobbyist but everything I used to do in photoshop can be done in Pixelmator. Forget Adobe’s monthly fees and buy this once!!! I use it on the 12.9” iPad Pro..Version: 2.4.6
Best Image Manipulation AppThis is the best image manipulation application on the AppStore that I could find, at first I was hesitant to buy it but after using it for some time and learning the layout/how to properly use it, it’s easily the best app. Great if you’re looking for something like Photoshop/GIMP on IOS..Version: 2.4.6
Pretty alrightDecently powerful for an iPad editor. The menu based selection is cumbersome. The worst part is the hidden layer, it shrinks to hide, so I have to click on it to see what’s in it. Really inconvenient when I’m working with multiple layers. There are better editors out there but this is pretty alright regardless!.Version: 2.4.6
My favorite iOS photo editorPowerful features. Love to be able to do layers on the phone. Spot adjustments like dodge and burn. Warp. Fantastic!.Version: 2.4.6
Enables advanced editing on a mobile device.I can edit photoshop level images on my device. Older devices will have problems with this app but newer devices should work fine. The only issue I have is that you can’t edit RGB channels individually but regardless it’s still a great app..Version: 2.4.2
Great work flow no issues, sometimes I like it more than the desktop versionOne thing it’s missing is the iPhone X screen ratio as a crop aspect preset..Version: 2.4.2
I love it, but it crashesWhen it works, it works great! It’s been crashing on me a lot lately! Deleted and reinstalled, but it now seems worse. I love it when it does work. I am using the ios version on my iPhone 7+ and it’s just frustrating to use this app right now. I’ve recommended this app to a lot of photography and arts and craft pages, so double frustration for me because I am recommending an app that does not work properly. Please fix the crashing issues..Version: 2.4.1
