Canon Camera Connect App Comments & Reviews

Canon Camera Connect Positive Reviews

Love it so farThis is my first ever “real” camera. A canon EOS r100 (which I love) and being able to do everything this app allows me to do with both taking pictures (using it as a remote and changing camera settings which is the best when dealing with astrophotography) as well as being able to import and/or delete things from the memory card without it ever leaving the camera AND save to my phone for super easy sharing; is just absolutely amazing and makes this amateur photographer (who’s not actually great at getting pics off the device they were taken with (they typically just stay there) these features are perfect. Love it.Version: 3.2.30

Fails to meet basic needs of professional photographersI was hoping to use this app to turn an iPad into a dedicated high-res viewfinder to inspect shots immediately after shooting them, to verify focus, and check for any little details, which often go unnoticed on the small screen on the back of the camera. Unfortunately, this app fails to meet this need in a most frustrating and ridiculous way… Of course, the live view image is significantly reduced in size. This is expected. What surprises me is that after taking the shot, the app insists on displaying a low resolution version of the image and sticking it in this tiny window that cannot be expanded,. And when I click to download the full resolution image, it doesn’t display it! Instead, it offers to open it in another app, or download it to my iPhone Photos. And if I do that, it bounces me away from the Camera Connect app, and when I switch back to the Camera Connect app, it has disconnected from my camera! And so I must renegotiate the camera connection after viewing the full resolution image in another app. This is totally unworkable. This app assumes that I am some kind of social media influencer, not a professional photographer doing critical work. Very unfortunate. I’ll have to stick with desktop based solutions..Version: 3.1.10

I finally figured it all out! This camera does so much. On vacation and I finally took the time to learn more functions! I love the remote camera mode using your smartphone! It has to be with the same wi-fi area. That’s ok. The sending feature from camera to phone is wonderful. I need to know if it has the ability to do multiple picture uploads. A high quality video is gonna take way too long, & that’s the only bummer. If it had the way of airdrop then this would be gold! Overall, I love ❤️.Version: 3.1.1

Bluetooth rocksI’ve used the predecessor to this app for years to get pics to my phone via WiFi. It was a little clunky but I found pretty easy to set up and use. This was a rocky start with my new, BT enabled camera. I continued trying to use WiFi and succeeded with difficulty each time, until I finally updated the app and discovered bt feature, then eventually [expletives deleted] had to delete the app and reinstall before I finally made it work. But now, it’s so much nicer than the old way. No more initiating WiFi on camera, then connecting on phone. Just open app and bt auto-starts the camera connection..Version: 3.2.11

Works Great for importing Photos Quickly!I’ve had my Canon Rebel T6 for a couple year now and I’ve been using this app to import my photos directly to my iPhone. The app is easy to figure out and use! I love that I am able to import the photos to my iPhone and keep the quality of the photos, it’s also very useful to quickly delete any unwanted photos on your camera. I definitely recommend this app whether you’ve had your Canon Camera for awhile or are just starting out with your camera!.Version: 3.1.10

Ease of useThis app is simply very helpful especially for beginners/ amateurs. The importing is fast if you have adequate space on your device. You can preview and delete unwanted pictures from your camera before transferring to device. Unfortunately you can’t preview videos before transferring/ importing. A little difficult to switch networks if you already have one saved to your camera/ app. Overall, easy to use and handy..Version: 3.1.1

Unable to connect iPhone to my cameraWhen I first installed this app, I was able to communicate my iPhone with my m50 cannon using this app. Now it shows in my WiFi settings that it has connection but quickly looses connection. Updating the app didn’t work and no setting in my camera have changed. Started off great then out of nowhere things just went south..Version: 3.2.0

Good but slightly difficultI love that I can easily move my pictures from my camera to my phone or iPad. The only down fall is that for some reason the quick connection never works for me and I have to go through a slightly longer process to get my phone and camera to connect. I’m not sure why it is that way, but I’m used to it now and just treat it like it’s supposed to be part of the process. Honestly I should try to look it up and figure out why but like I said, it’s a habit now..Version: 3.2.0

LongevityI have been using this app since 2017, and I have always appreciated being able to put my images on a device straight out of camera. Connect has come a long way since then. I do have one question, and it’s in regards to video. Up until very recently I have been able to move videos to a device, and suddenly that stopped. I have the latest version, and cannot figure out why I can’t move these files. Any help would be appreciated..Version: 3.1.1

ProblemThis has always been a finicky app. It won’t connect well via wifi to my phone. But after the last update, it won’t connect at all to my phone. The camera does not give a bluetooth option, and the app seems to connect but then won’t give me pictures to download. Anyway, I’m super frustrated, it’s been a few days of me trying, and I’m looking into other options to download pictures. It’s just a bummer I can no longer download them to my phone. Wish the app wouldn’t have been updated..Version: 3.2.0

Easy UseI like to edit my photos on my phone and being able to connect my phone to my camera and download photos is a plus for me. The connection setup is easy, both the phone and camera instructions are very simple to follow, and it only takes a minute or so depending on the speed of your WiFi connection..Version: 3.2.0

ReviewI normally don’t review apps but I’m kinda impressed with this one. Lot of things I probably would change but it’s free so be it. Only thing I don’t like is the auto zoom control from my phone. It’s very slow and quirky. It could be because I have an iPhone 7 se. I love downloading pictures from my camera to tablet or phone quickly and without having to take my tripod mount off. Definitely a gonna keep app.Version: 3.2.0

THIS IS SO GOOD!I’m flabbergasted with app! When I would get my pictures off my Rebel T7, I’d have to get my SD card, the drive, a computer, then log into this app on computer, slide a single image at a time over to airdrop, then wait for my phone to receive it. And with this app, I just have to press three buttons! Amazing in sooo many levels! 😆🥹 Thank You Canon!!!.Version: 3.2.11

Not continuously updating GPS CoordinatesOngoing issue with GPS Continuously updating with each new location/photoshoot. This is incredibly frustrating as I need to manually adjust the location of photos by copying the coordinates from the map application and pasting them into the photo/photos location. It seems to only mark the coordinates for the first time the app is activated with gps on. I hope the app can be updated to correct this major frustration..Version: 3.1.20

Canon Connect and R5I love having the ability to shoot from my phone. Don’t have to carry a trigger. The best is to move photos from my camera to my phone. Sometimes I am in very remote areas and may not move images to my computer for days or even months. It is so simple..Version: 3.2.11

Learning the ropesDabbling my toes into photography and while the app only transfers to phone in jpg format (that I know of, not raw for editing) it is an easy way to get pics directly for texting preprocessed. Slight annoyance at having to reconnect when transferring photos as if ur using other phone apps it will stop mid transfer. Once u get the initial app set up to connect it should get the job done..Version: 3.1.1

Great when the camera cooperatesThis works wonderful when the iPhone and Camera are cooperating with each other. I wish the WiFi signal from the camera could just be picked out from this program inside of me going to the iPhone’s system program to connect. My camera is the 80D. If I get another camera I hope they would have Bluetooth, that would be so much easier..Version: 3.1.20

Worked but now doesn’tIt worked really well for my IPhone XR to my Canon EOS 1300D. It was just super slow to take photos from my phone through the camera. Now I have a IPhone 15 Pro and the app won’t connect to the camera and I’ve done everything I’m supposed to. I tried googling options, etc and nothing is helping it connect again. Super frustrating since I don’t have a converter or computer..Version: 3.1.20

Needs a full screen video functionEven on an iPhone Pro Max the video display is very small. To be used as an effective field monitor this app needs a way to maximize the video to fill the while screen, I don’t need the record button and camera/video toggle to display while recording it is just a lot of wasted space..Version: 3.1.10

I use mainly for geotaggingI use this app mainly for geotagging. It connects with my R8 and RP quickly to transfer gps location, unlike fujifilm’s app and Fujifilm cameras. My main problem with this app is that it dies after a day or two, so I have to remember to relaunch it. I believe there was an ability to keep this open in the background with previous versions, but the feature went away at some point..Version: 3.1.1

Works greatThe app does everythig I need to: connect to camera, view photos, import them in excellent quality and even delete them from camera. It can also export photos to another editing app, which is nice, but I rarely use that. One thing I would like to see improved are connections. It connects via bluetooth, but needs a WiFi connection to send photos. The bluetooth connection is automatic and always works well for me. But for photo transfer, every time camera starts a WiFi Hotspot and let’s the phone connect to it. That probably takes around 10s which is kind of slow. With a number of clicks on the camera I can make it send photos over my home WiFi, which lets me view the photos immediately. But that requires going to camera’s settings every time. In either case I need to spend 10s before I see the photos. If it could just use a common WiFi connection by default that would just be perfect! Both my camera and phone are connected to my home WiFi, so why not just use it? I did not notice any difference in speed between this and the camera Hotspot..Version: 3.2.0

Good but needs shutter count!Shutter count please.Version: 3.1.20

Very cool canon is bestBest of best.Version: 3.2.0

Lost without ThisAbsolute game changer. Shooting and sharing your photos in minutes is absolutely awesome I am not one to take all the time on my PC to fix pictures so this is amazing for me !!! 👍👍.Version: 3.2.0

I adore this app!!Although I sometimes have trouble with connections, it’s all because of my own doing, not the apps fault!! I adore the ability to shoot from your phone and the clarity of the photos you can download from it!!! 100/10!💕💕.Version: 3.1.20

Great product ♥️Best features!!.Version: 3.1.20

Connection issuesEvery time I wish to download from my cameras to my iPad, its a nightmare, not so much with my 90D but BIG TIME with my 5D MkIV. It’s ridiculous for a $3500 camera..Version: 3.1.20

Slow…The app is a bit slow overall and looses connection all the time.Version: 3.1.20

It’s okI like the app I really do it can sometimes be slow and hard to connect but other then that it’s amazing I recommend.Version: 3.1.10

ProblemMany deconnections in the process..Version: 3.1.10

More SimpleMake it more simple.Version: 3.1.10

Good app, just too much trouble connecting. It’s a good app, it just needs easier or more simple way to connect with my cameras.Version: 3.1.10

UpdateI think this App needs an update. Instead of letting me download all the photos from the day, it just keeps spinning like it’s loading and it’s been doing this for days..Version: 3.1.10
