Love it so farThis is my first ever “real” camera. A canon EOS r100 (which I love) and being able to do everything this app allows me to do with both taking pictures (using it as a remote and changing camera settings which is the best when dealing with astrophotography) as well as being able to import and/or delete things from the memory card without it ever leaving the camera AND save to my phone for super easy sharing; is just absolutely amazing and makes this amateur photographer (who’s not actually great at getting pics off the device they were taken with (they typically just stay there) these features are perfect. Fails to meet basic needs of professional photographersI was hoping to use this app to turn an iPad into a dedicated high-res viewfinder to inspect shots immediately after shooting them, to verify focus, and check for any little details, which often go unnoticed on the small screen on the back of the camera. Unfortunately, this app fails to meet this need in a most frustrating and ridiculous way… Of course, the live view image is significantly reduced in size. This is expected. What surprises me is that after taking the shot, the app insists on displaying a low resolution version of the image and sticking it in this tiny window that cannot be expanded,. And when I click to download the full resolution image, it doesn’t display it! Instead, it offers to open it in another app, or download it to my iPhone Photos. And if I do that, it bounces me away from the Camera Connect app, and when I switch back to the Camera Connect app, it has disconnected from my camera! And so I must renegotiate the camera connection after viewing the full resolution image in another app. This is totally unworkable. This app assumes that I am some kind of social media influencer, not a professional photographer doing critical work. Very unfortunate. I finally figured it all out!This camera does so much. On vacation and I finally took the time to learn more functions! I love the remote camera mode using your smartphone! It has to be with the same wi-fi area. That’s ok. The sending feature from camera to phone is wonderful. I need to know if it has the ability to do multiple picture uploads. Bluetooth rocksI’ve used the predecessor to this app for years to get pics to my phone via WiFi. It was a little clunky but I found pretty easy to set up and use. This was a rocky start with my new, BT enabled camera. I continued trying to use WiFi and succeeded with difficulty each time, until I finally updated the app and discovered bt feature, then eventually [expletives deleted] had to delete the app and reinstall before I finally made it work. But now, it’s so much nicer than the old way. No more initiating WiFi on camera, then connecting on phone. Just open app and bt auto-starts the camera connection..AustintreedwellerVersion: 3.2.11

Works Great for importing Photos Quickly!I’ve had my Canon Rebel T6 for a couple year now and I’ve been using this app to import my photos directly to my iPhone. The app is easy to figure out and use! I love that I am able to import the photos to my iPhone and keep the quality of the photos, it’s also very useful to quickly delete any unwanted photos on your camera. Unable to connect iPhone to my cameraWhen I first installed this app, I was able to communicate my iPhone with my m50 cannon using this app. Now it shows in my WiFi settings that it has connection but quickly looses connection. Good but slightly difficultI love that I can easily move my pictures from my camera to my phone or iPad. The only down fall is that for some reason the quick connection never works for me and I have to go through a slightly longer process to get my phone and camera to connect. I’m not sure why it is that way, but I’m used to it now and just treat it like it’s supposed to be part of the process. LongevityI have been using this app since 2017, and I have always appreciated being able to put my images on a device straight out of camera. Connect has come a long way since then. I do have one question, and it’s in regards to video. Up until very recently I have been able to move videos to a device, and suddenly that stopped. ProblemThis has always been a finicky app. It won’t connect well via wifi to my phone. But after the last update, it won’t connect at all to my phone. The camera does not give a bluetooth option, and the app seems to connect but then won’t give me pictures to download. Easy UseI like to edit my photos on my phone and being able to connect my phone to my camera and download photos is a plus for me. Not continuously updating GPS CoordinatesOngoing issue with GPS Continuously updating with each new location/photoshoot. This is incredibly frustrating as I need to manually adjust the location of photos by copying the coordinates from the map application and pasting them into the photo/photos location. Learning the ropesDabbling my toes into photography and while the app only transfers to phone in jpg format (that I know of, not raw for editing) it is an easy way to get pics directly for texting preprocessed. Slight annoyance at having to reconnect when transferring photos as if ur using other phone apps it will stop mid transfer. I use mainly for geotaggingI use this app mainly for geotagging. It connects with my R8 and RP quickly to transfer gps location, unlike fujifilm’s app and Fujifilm cameras. My main problem with this app is that it dies after a day or two, so I have to remember to relaunch it. Works greatThe app does everythig I need to: connect to camera, view photos, import them in excellent quality and even delete them from camera. It can also export photos to another editing app, which is nice, but I rarely use that. One thing I would like to see improved are connections. It connects via bluetooth, but needs a WiFi connection to send photos. The bluetooth connection is automatic and always works well for me. But for photo transfer, every time camera starts a WiFi Hotspot and let’s the phone connect to it. That probably takes around 10s which is kind of slow. With a number of clicks on the camera I can make it send photos over my home WiFi, which lets me view the photos immediately. But that requires going to camera’s settings every time. In either case I need to spend 10s before I see the photos. If it could just use a common WiFi connection by default that would just be perfect! Both my camera and phone are connected to my home WiFi, so why not just use it? I did not notice any difference in speed between this and the camera Hotspot.._AndriyVersion: 3.2.0

App Stopped Connecting to CameraI had used this app successfully for years and thoroughly enjoyed how simple it was to transfer images from my Canon PowerShot G9X Mark II to my iPhone 11 (now running iOS 17.5.1). Starting, I believe sometime in 2023, the app just abruptly stopped connecting via WiFi, and based on the forums it looks like this issue is pretty widespread. The Bluetooth functions like remote shooting still work fine, so this just appears to be a WiFi connection issue. Perhaps it’s a compatibility issue with iOS operating systems more recent than 17.4, since 17.4 is the compatibility listed in the app summary? I can’t get a straight answer, which has been extremely frustrating. I’ve tinkered with it for hours, scoured the Canon online forums, and nothing seems to work anymore. I’ve tried it all at this point. Having a camera that doesn’t reliably transfer images to a phone really limits the usefulness of the camera, so I suppose it may be time to look for another brand of camera (or for Canon to fix a substantial problem that’s been plaguing its user community for a long time). I see the same complaints 10 years agoThis app is a complete waste of time. I was so thrilled to upload my photos wirelessly on vaca as a backup. It is cumbersome to figure out, insisted on uploading to google photos and google wanted access to all of my photos. Figured out how to transfer to my iCloud instead (could not tell you how, but I did it). Takes forever, even on my home wifi that is Fast for everything else. The biggest problem is that it doesn't transfer sequentially, neither by date/time or by img #. There are skips, uploads 10 in a row, skips one, 2 more uploaded, skips 10. Then it numbers them with a (2) that puts it all out of order. This is the same complaint from a review from 10 years ago. Why, canon, why? Fix this thing, or don't offer it. I have 3000 photos from a long vacation with intermittent missing photos. I have spent a week trying to figure out which pix are missing. I'm giving up and buying an sd card reader. This app is almost uselessI cannot understand why this app has so many glitches! Every other time I try to connect to my camera it has issues. Camera never connects to appI absolutely love having the ability to take photos from my camera and putting them on my phone, especially since my computer has stopped working. However, I usually have to spend around an hour at a time just to get the camera to connect to the app just so I can download the photos. It shouldn’t be that hard. Always DisconnectsMy opinion about the Canon App is negative. Whenever the Canon app is used and a call, message, or email is received, clicking on it and returning to the app leads to disconnection from the camera. Reconnection is required afterwards, which consumes a lot of time. I hope there can be a way for Cannon to fix this problem. There are plenty of other apps and Bluetooth Wi-Fi products that don't disconnect when a call or message comes through, allowing you to stay connected. They should find a way to reconnect without going through all the camera options manually. Nonetheless, I appreciate this app as a wildlife photographer because it allows me to take pictures without disturbing the subject by setting up the camera and stepping away. Something else from Canon that stops workingCanon’s response: “Just buy a new canon camera, it should probably work then.” I’ve been trying to connect canon cameras to my phone since the EOS M, and always there’s a problem. It’s faster to drive home, transfer photos to your computer, then email them to your phone, than to wait for the app to connect to your phone, EVEN IF YOU HAVE ALREADY PAIRED IT AND THE CAMERA IS LISTED IN THE APP!! If, by chance, you do get this app to work, do not update the app, because it 100% will not connect to your camera again. Can we go back to EyeFi SD cards? Other camera companies go way out of their way to make this process really easy, but not canon. Help within the app is useless and online help just quotes FAQs and does address problem. Worst App EverThis app is terrible. It does not allow me to easily transfer the pictures from my camera to my phone (and it does not let me transfer my videos at all). Worthless. Glitchy. Terrible.On a recent trip, I didn’t have access to my usual set up, so I didn’t have an SD card reader. I tried using the canon connect app, and was frustrated at every turn. It constantly lost connection to my camera, if – heaven forbid – I would dare to switch between connecting to my laptop or my phone, I would have to completely delete a registered device because it wouldn’t reconnect to it again. I remember using this app in the past with great success, so I am not sure what changed. It’s done a complete 180 in quality. Same poor appI saw a new release for this software, but like every previous version “connecting” to the camera is a matter of pure luck. The instructions NEVER work as suggested. Bluetooth will not connect and the app says it needs WiFi as well. No way to connect. When I have convinced this app to work in the past (and functionality never lasts and you end up in the endless “connection loop” when reconnecting) it was pretty nice. Enjoyed the remote use of the phone controlling the camera. But the amount of fiddling to get there is not worth it. Problems with ConnectionI feel like every time I go to connect my camera to my phone, it will be connected for about three seconds before it disconnects. Sometimes I won’t even be able to find the camera on the phone, it’s really frustrating. When it does connect though saving the photos can be a problem too, it would be nice to be able to do things outside of the app while they are being transferred. I haven’t been able to save 300+ photos cause I keep on getting mad cause the app wouldn’t stay connected. Takes over 2min per pic on SX 60Get an SD reader instead. Until this app updated, it worked very well with my SX60. It is now completely non-functional. I have been unable to upload any videos onto my phone and ONE picture takes over two minutes to upload. I would have to put my phone out of commission for at least 2 hours just to get 50 photos from my camera onto my phone. This is a new glitch that they have not fixed despite updates. It has been going on for over six months now. I’m not sure why you would want to sabotage your product. Cannot ConnectFirst off, it's really annoying to not be able to do anything in the app until "registering" the camera. Second off, if I am connecting my camera to the app anyway and your app has the ability to get metadata about the device to categorize it, why am I manually selecting what product it is? Third, even after making me tell the app what product I am trying to connect, it still doesn't do the job! I turn WiFi off and back on, I enter the pairing mode on the camera, and I connect my phone to the hotspot. This is after a successful connection with my iPad, as well. Won’t stably connectIt used to work very slowly, but now it pretty much stop working probably due to the update. Loading take forever, and the connection would disconnect suddenly. I spent 40 min but had only one photo successfully transferred to my phone today, and yesterday was 1.5h for 3 photos. Even in the past when the older version worked (unpleasantly slowly), I was wishing I could let it transfer in the backstage while I can say browse websites at the same time. Nope, once I switched to another app, the connection was lost. Really, really hard to useYou need a PhD in dumbfuddling to use this app. Part of the problem is my Rebel T7’s bad interface and the other is the this seemingly disconnects from the phone every time you complete an upload from the camera’s memory card to this app. I had to get help from my techno-geek 15 year old son on how to get this set up the first time. Based on the reviews of the camera, I may be one of a very T7 owners having this issue, but given this is, other than removing the memory card and inserting into your computer’s card reader, the only way to get your pictures onto your phone or tablet, I am stuck with it..Songbear20147Version: 3.1.20

Not for the privacy-waryI wanted to use for copying camera photos to the phone wirelessly. Functionally it seems OK. But I was surprised how many permissions it asked for; first the license agreements, then one request after another. I’d happily use the app if it did what it could with limited permissions. And some permissions have technical reasons for them - it can’t connect to the camera at all without permission to “view devices on local network.” As for “Precise location” … maybe? But it smells fishy. I gave up on the app after it asked for unlimited access to my phone’s photo library. I refused, and the app actually crashed. I restarted it and gave it access to a new sub-album. Nope - it wanted everything. It wouldn’t even copy a photo to the clipboard unless I let it read every photo on my phone. So I uninstalled it. Terrible but no choiceTwo stars because at least I end up with my photos/videos transferred. This app is only good for transferring photos from the canon device to the desired smartphone. Anything I want to transfer a video that is 1 minute or longer I am waiting about 10 minutes. It disconnects from the wifi many times therefore interrupting transfers and takes forever for videos. Embarrassingly bad appI was expecting very little when I saw how overwhelmingly negative most reviews are, but I was still shocked by how non-functional this app is. Live view shooting from the phone is so extremely laggy and constantly freezes (even with excellent wifi reception and keeping my phone and camera less than 2 feet apart) that it's basically useless and the camera will randomly disconnect from my phone for absolutely no reason. Recent Update Broke Direct Wi-Fi ConnectivityI’ve been using this app with my EOS R with out issue until today. Looks like a recent update broke the app’s ability to direct WiFi connect my iPad Pro to the EOS R - does’t matter if I select the camera’s wifi before or after launching the app. Found that I can connect using Bluetooth, then letting the app connect via Wi-Fi. Only issue is my RAW files appear color swapped(?) in the default photos app… files are fine once imported to Affinity Photo. Before the recent update I had no issue connecting directly via Wi-Fi, or importing raw files. Please fix Canon!.SoperrepoSVersion: 3.1.1

Doesn’t work anymore after the recent updateThis app worked SUPER well and fast……until they did an update this year. Now it won’t work at all. Occasionally, it will connect but after like half an hour of going back and forth. On requiring ‘canon id’The app indicates that in an upcoming update a canon id will be necessary to communicate product news (spam) and information about firmware updates, that could be indicated on an added cameras in the current app. This is an unnecessary outreach and a privacy liability. I have no interest or need to providing personal information to Canon. I love my Canon cameras I own and I don’t see why Canon needs more than that. What’s next? Privacy concernsThe app does would it says it will do but you have to give the app access to your entire photo album in order to import photos.. why do you need access to every picture and video I ever took just for me to get one photo of my camera. Won’t connect IPhone 13 IOS 16.5I’m not sure if this is on Apple or Canon, but my IPhone 13 with IOS 16.5 WILL NOT connect using this app and it’s very frustrating. Glacial photo transfer speed on iPhoneI use Photo Connect for both my iPhone and iPad. The iPad’s transfer speed is pretty good; however, the iPhone transfer speed may as well be dial up. For example, 30 photos took almost 30 minutes to transfer. This was a consistent issue for both my old iPhone 11 and my current iPhone 13. I’ve read online, some people say there is a chip set issue.
