UnitedHealthcare Positive Reviews
Be carefulIt was my understanding that I have Dental Coverage with my United Healthcare (UHC) and provider. I went to my dentist to have an emergency extraction performed because my tooth was in excruciating discomfort when chewing food and just closing my mouth. I checked my coverage which indicated that extractions were covered but when my Dentist performed the procedure and submitted the claim to UHC it was denied claiming that the procedure was not covered under my dental coverage although it clearly stated extractions in my coverage description. My dentist also submitted claims for the X-ray and exams that was performed prior to the extraction and they to were denied although they were also indicated in coverage as being a part of my coverage. When I contacted UHC about the incidents all I was continually told was that the procedures were not covered on my current coverage although my coverage clearly says they are. I was told that I can appeal to have the claims paid. Why should I have to appeal to have claims honored that were clearly indicated as coverages. No one was help me except to continually tell me that they were not covered under
My plan. But I was told that extractions and X-rays were only covered in the event they were for surgical procedures in the event of oral surgery or something to that matter. Which totally changed the definition of coverage for extraction. Basically I had to pay for all of the procedures out of pocket for understanding UHC new definition of extractions. I was also told that I have to contact my navigator before I visit a medical provider to see if it’s covered unless it’s an emergency.Jeffmonr243Version: 2.61.0
Problems with the app.I also have had problems with the app. I see a product in the order book is covered. But when I scan the barcode. The app says the product isn’t covered. I also tried to use my credits to pay utility bills. But was told the companies I use were not in the formularies. Ameran is the major utility anywhere in the United States. And when I do buy only what is in the catalog. Many times all the items were not covered. But it didn’t let me know which ones. So I had to pay out of pocket. I didn’t try to figure out the which items. Because I would have to run each one separately. I don’t understand why Walmart brands are accepted but other store brands are not. It’s like Walmart has cornered the market with UH Care. ???? I will say I’m very thankful for the extra help. When I first became disabled, the insurance plan was straight Medicare and or Medicaid. And we didn’t have all the extras. I think the younger generation don’t always think about how well they are provided for. But I also believe that if a company presents themselves as having certain options. They should deliver those options. And whatever is not functioning well should be fixed..Mary Miah KathleenVersion: 2.71.0
What I can buy…I would really love to be able to get a few more things with my card. Such as birthday party supplies. Items like soft drinks to make my punch recipes, disposable cups for guest to drink with and throw away since I don’t have enough glasses for the family, include plastic silverware and paper plates, napkins too. Or paper towels.
I would love to be able to buy things at Dollar Tree. Like reading glasses, I wear a standard size 2.50 and it is much easier for me to get my glasses from them than from the eye doctor. And much cheaper considering how many I break or lose. $1.25 a pair compared to $100. Is equal to about 75 pairs of glasses. And I wouldn’t even mind paying half price on them.
Plus, there are lots of items there that are much less than at other stores, like the party supplies, mentioned above. They also have vegetable seeds for much less at 3 pack for $1.25. I can usually grow enough in just the three beds along the edge of my trailer to feed most of my neighbors all summer long and still give more away to the food pantry..Cateyes1955Version: 2.76.0
UHC changes while using the ApplicationThe app for United healthcare is very efficient. I tried to change my PCP shortly after my PCP had just been changed, but I needed a different PCP. The application was telling me that there was a problem in completing my PCP change. It gave me an option to get help from the helpdesk. I figured that with the system making updates for users with it being December 2 and the clothes of open enrollment shortly it may be a problem. The helpdesk assisted me in making the change to my PCP at such a time when so many people were calling in. The change was taken place by the helpdesk very quickly, and I was told that it would take about three hours for us to take affect which really helped me and ensuring that the change was made that day as I was contacting the doctor to make an appointment for December. Although I was not able to make the change myself, I was impressed with how quickly the helpdesk did help me in making this issue work. Thank you for having very good system in place!.Gene McGinnisVersion: 2.95.0
Loving this app!Just switched from standard Medicare two United healthcare and I’m really loving it so far! It’s only been for two months but I’ve really enjoyed the encouragement with the rewards app to get out and walk or go to the gym or do something every day. And getting my vitamins and my pain medicine for free when it just swiping, the card is really fun! My girlfriend has had this for a long time and she encouraged me to switch and now I’m really happy I did! I would tell everybody to switch to. United healthcare. All of my doctors are on it and the only one I had to switch was my eye doctor. I can actually still go there, but they don’t take the United healthcare for your glasses. But they’ll give you the prescription and you can go to a place that does do the glasses and it’s still a lot cheaper that way! Easy to use app I encourage people to spend some time just playing on it and getting to know it better because it has a lot of offers once you get familiar with everything that’s on the app..EedouglingVersion: 2.97.1
Insurance with REAL benefits! After my employer switched from Bluecross to UHC we were required to download the app and set up our doctors to get them “in network” and get all the paperwork in nothing, but I noticed a rewards program that sounded unbelievably good and was skeptical, that was until I took the time to do the simple tasks and writhing 2 hours I had the option to get an instant visa digital gift card or use it towards reward items, I chose a top of the line Apple Watch Ultra pro 3, applied my 350$ I earned in literally 2 hours doing next to nothing, and then it gave me the option to pay the rest over time 68$ bi weekly, BUT my rewards that I am still accruing are automatically being applied towards that biweekly payment…. And yes they already have it in que to be shipped before it was paid in full! PROPS to UHC for actually being noticeably BETTER and more client oriented than any other insurance company I’ve been covered and payed to cover me!.Mrweisner311Version: 3.3.0
New member74I was helping a member of a different company and it was always complicated navigating the app and calling to ask questions about the benefits. They decided to go with UHC during open enrollment. I was assisting them troubleshoot their UHC account so they would be able to login and find an ophthalmologist. It was so simple using the UHC app. Everything was located in one place. There was no need to navigate to multiple different sites to get information on each service for your insurance benefits.. The other company had clients doing tasks and waiting 6-8 weeks for rewards, if they were ever sent them. They were tricked into completing tasks like colon cancer screenings for gift cards but later would be told they had maxed out their yearly rewards although that was separate. UHC instantly add rewards for immediate use. This is by far the very best experience using an app designed for insurance companies. Keep up the good work!.KaySlay92Version: 2.89.0
Convenient, easy-to-use and usefulThe app allows you to view claims your providers have submitted to the insurer. Some of the claims are eye opening and will surprise you - such as how many claims a single visit might entail. You have the opportunity to mark-off which ones have been paid to assist the insurer to track whether your deductible has been reached. The app also allows you to quickly check which providers are in-network. Prescriptions on OptumRx are managed on a separate app. You can also save the contacts of your regular doctors for easy reference. It will also prompt you to look after your health by getting your blood pressure taken, getting a lipid panel or getting a flu shot. However, you do not put anything personal into the app. It does not collect your health data, so that’s good from a privacy perspective, but if that’s what you’re looking for, you’ll need another app..TzupsVersion: 1.8.5

Could be improvedI usually have some trouble getting done what I want to do when using this app on my iPhone. First, clicking on an email link to the app to review claims always results in an endless spinning circle. I have to exit and go directly to the app. Second, the position and appearance of the symbols is idiosyncratic; I frequently exit mistakenly from the screen I want because there’s no back button and I guess wrong about where to click. Third, the online OTC benefit shopping section of the app is primitive compared to most shopping sites and requires some study to use properly; again, no back button. It also requires some study and too many clicks to figure out how to find information on ingredients or open the section with directions for using a product. Parts of the product information are duplicated multiple times. Fourth, the app is glitchy and abruptly stops working often enough to be annoying..K. PalmierVersion: 2.85.0
Absolutely, THE BEST...I have never been so happy with a customer service representative then I have been with the ones I have spoken to here at United healthcare. It's hard for me to believe that every single time I call, the representative is kind polite patient and most of all doesn't talk to me like I'm a
4-year-old. They treat me like I am their beloved mother like I am part of this giant family and I am the most important person to them every single time I call. It's just absolutely amazing and I always walk away from the conversation. happy to United healthcare for finding such wonderful representatives. And the plan that I have works perfect for me. I cannot tell you how happy I am with United healthcare because there are no words that would ever describe the glow I have after each phone call. Usually I hate insurance apps, but…I don’t leave reviews unless I hate or love something. Never have I ever thought I would love a health insurance app. And yet here we are. Insurance is such a convoluted mess, but dang it if this app doesn’t take away some of the sting. It’s easy to use, intuitive, and so convenient! For example, the digital copy of my insurance card, with the easy to copy and paste ID number and group number. Dang this sounds like a paid ad, but I’m pregnant and have to fill out SO MUCH DIGITAL PAPERWORK, and here’s an app that actually seems to get my pain and tries to help. This is probably hormones talking, but I’m just so grateful I don’t have to navigate another stupid health insurance app for the 50th time and try and find the right information. So thanks devs. Y’all have really nailed it this time..YayforreviewsVersion: 2.71.0
So glad to have found UHCThank you so much for making my life a little easier with my health coverage. Somehow you have made it fun. Seems like all my life health insurance was something that was complicated, confusing, hard and unpleasant to deal with but so important to the health of my family. Insurance premiums were high and the deductibles and co pays and percentage of responsibility was so expensive and prescription drug coverage. It effected us with a heavy financial burden - even with us having good jobs and company provided insurance. I thought that Medicare and advantage plans were going to be the same except worse sense I have so many health problems now and so many prescriptions. With not being able to work and money tighter than ever I was really worried especially with my transplant and AKI and breathing issues. I couldn’t believe it when I started researching and through AARP found UHC, contacted you and found out how easy and friendly you are to help me with everything. In one phone call - first of all you answered the phone right away- no message machine or transfers. Then in one call you helped me decide which plan was right for me, signed me up and handled everything for me- I was completely amazed and happy about my health insurance. I was no longer worried or confused and couldn’t believe that it was not going to be as great of a burden on us than I thought. Yes- some medications are still going to be expensive and some procedures were going to still cost us - but not as much as our other regular health coverage for so much less money! Then I found out that you help out with over the counter medications too and have other FUN ways of earning more money to spend with our U cards- I just love it! The app is so easy- it gives you ALL the information you need - your card- balance- coverage costs-and claims all easily accessible. Then I found out that I can join a gym. That has got me out of the house and made it so that I can get some exercise while still being careful of my immune system issues and physical activity level. It has changed my life both physically and mentally!
You are alway there when I have questions and a joy to work with.
Thank you so very much!.WhatevertimeVersion: 2.56.0
Easygoing during navigationEasy to navigate on this site. I can see everything I want and need about my health care! I can even enjoy games, read articles, find a gym, get a membership even!! But most of all I can add my personal physical activity and earn money to spend on whatever I want!! I can even keep track of my days, my earnings and the $40 quarterly to spend at Walmart, CVS, or Walgreens! Of course, it’s limited to certain items but even that is easy to navigate through! So much more than these things I mentioned here; but take a look for yourself and you’ll find more than what I have mentioned here!! Have fun, enjoy life as you can, and always smile at the world. Clarity is requiredI find that the world (younger people), and technology forget that senior citizens are antiquated regarding modern
technology.
I’m not sure how many senior citizens are comfortable using tech equipment or how to use it, however, I would imagine the numbers are quite high. life keeps rolling out tech information like we understand it. Not all seniors are computer savvy, some can’t read or write, not all of them have access to children/grandchildren that can assist with text messaging, and understanding how to maneuver through the world of technology.
Simple instructions, and more comprehensive summaries (i.e. technology for dummies, or AI technology) explaining how to use this technology, and simple assistance moving around the app would be extremely helpful. I have a neighbor that can’t access this technology because she doesn’t know how, and she misses out on a great deal of benefits the app provides/offers.
If I weren’t so curious, I’d miss a lot of information and benefits as well.
Please remember not all seniors are tech savvy. We’re aging and our brains don’t function like they used to. As far as the app is concerned, I love it. Just be mindful we’re aging..Clarity is neededVersion: 2.73.1
Benefit cardWow, what can I say about the United healthcare benefit card well, I received it for the first time this year. Let me tell you it really benefited me. I I had already spent my check that I had and so I had to go and buy like coffee and and creamer for this friend of mine who is in therecovery hospital or what do you call that? What do they call it rehabilitation or the rest home or whatever you call it anyway she anyway it saved my life because I was able to buy my friend what she needed since I didn’t have any funds available, but that card came in very very handy at the right time and the right place thank you UnitedHealthcare for thinking of us with this benefits card of ours whoever isn’t on United healthcare plan they should be..1stgamerTienVersion: 2.72.0
ReviewI’m on Medicare I pay for you guys as a back up plan however you say it so when I try to search your site for a doctor it links me to Medicare. I did not see an app for Medicare and Medicare is hard to look up doctors, which is Medicare‘s fault I know, but you work with Medicare, so I would think this would be easier to find a doctor.
I have insomnia. So my doctor mentioned a sleep specialist. well, your site and Medicare site will not let me find a doctor listed. There isn’t such a doctor or there is not a doctor of sleep medicine I guess I’ll have to wait and talk to my doctor. I have to remember a lot more to talk to him about.
I thought he was gonna make me an appointment and then call me back, but I have to go back to him sooner than I was so now I gotta talk about all this all over again. I am just trying to figure out my sleep problem..HickmissouriVersion: 2.63.0
Access Benefits AppI really enjoy using the UHC app. It’s user friendly, each section is very simple and the over all appearance of it is self explanatory. The only thing I would suggest changing if you were to change anything is the in store scanner app. It will show items saying it’s covered but when you checkout it’s not covered by the plan. Also, be a little clearer if it’s your bonus $$ or your regular $$ that will pay for the item you scan. And we should have an option if we want to use our rewards $$ or not. Whenever we have rewards $$ on the app it will use it up and then our regular monthly benefits.
Thank you for allowing me to share my options and thoughts..LeslynnG.Version: 2.71.0
Quality Health Care AppThis app is very useful and I find myself using it frequently. It is well-designed and relatively intuitive; for starters it is Faced ID-enabled so I don’t have to go looking for my userid and password every time. It was also smart enough to look up both my current policy and one from a previous job so I can check my full history. All of my recent claims are here and there are quick links to contact the nurse line, find a nearby provider, or talk directly to UHC.
It would get five stars except for two things: there’s no way to initiate a claim from the app (you have to use the full desktop site) and there seems to be no way to integrate with any medical records (for example, it keeps suggesting that I get my flu shot, even though I got it during a covered visit).
Overall, though, it’s a very solid app..LionraiderVersion: 1.6.18
Food & Health go togetherI am very pleased with United Healthcare’s comprehensive to my good healthcare as they help to provide outstanding services that contribute to my healthcare in addition to my wellness. They provide me with skilled physicians, both primary and specialists who monitor my health, diagnose problems, and treat, in addition to providing me outstanding access to pharmaceutical experts & products. They listen to me & help me get what I need even if it is not on their formulary, if I as the patient explained to them why a specialty drug is required. After explanations concerning these matters, I have never been turned down for the most appropriate Drugs. They proactively listen & act in caring thoughtful ways which in turn make me feel heard & cared for 5 ⭐️.Jonpaul BUYERVersion: 2.96.0
Poor ResourcesI’m a NP and work for UHC in a different state than my
son who has 3 months of lingering back discomfort without any injury known. we use used the virtual primary care on the app. We paid $50 for the nurse practitioner to send him to urgent care.
That is not the purpose of primary care for something that’s been going on for three months.
She should’ve took the incentive to send him for an x-ray rather than just passing the ball and charging us $50.
He cannot see a PCP for 3 months locally
I am a nurse practitioner I work for UnitedHealth care I understand the goals of the resources to providing access to affordable care via virtual and sadly this is not one of them. being charged $50 when I could’ve told him to go to urgent care it’s ridiculous.
I do not want to be charged for that amount. I’m going to file in the claim a claim in an appeal and I want this nurse practitioner to be notified or poor quality care.
It states right on the app that you can get prescriptions, orders for diagnostics and referrals to the resources that can help the problem. She did not help the problem. She just took advantage of us financially..Sue 2085475Version: 2.43.2
My review for this cardSo far for as long as I have been getting this assistance I can’t even begin to tell you how much it has helped me get through the month I don’t even think I would’ve made it through the month without it the thing is I don’t understand why they would lower the amount I mean I need a little help each month but I get by with what I do get if you take it down where you want to I don’t and won’t have enough to eat through the month I can’t thank you enough for everything but on the other hand I’m not looking forward to the next year thank you for your time I really hope this review is satisfactory for you all God bless you all.TheG firstVersion: 2.94.1
Very convenientI love that all my information is at my fingertips including my HSA balance. Very easy to add your doctors that are in network. However I find it annoying that I could not add an out of network physician as my GP. My GP is a PAC, I honestly have never even met the doctor listed on my scripts (who happens to be in-network). I think a seamless integration with MyChart and GoodRX should be something the developers should look into for a one stop shop with appointment scheduling, test results, and medication cost options. As it is now, the user interface is clean and easy to navigate without more than a couple of minutes poking around when you first use it. If you a falling apart like me and have frequent office visits and multiple doctors, it’s a handy app to keep your insurance information and claims in order..CrystalregVersion: 1.8.8
Best experience I’ve had healthcare apps!I will say that I have been very impressed this app. I have had BCBC and Cigna’s apps, and by far UHC has been the most functional and user friendly for me!
I have only been using it since September 2019 when my benefits switched. All I can say is I never missed a beat and have not had to call UHC for anything to date! For me this alone has me smiling!
I give it 5 stars, but I am great at updating my reviews if and when my experience or thoughts change! Keep it operating properly and don’t try to improve or change it if it’s not broken. Too many companies do this and someone needs to say enough at times! When ease turns to frustration say good bye to things that affect your bottom line!!.Just me Lil 'b.Version: 1.5.6

UnitedHealthcare Negative Reviews
Miserable experienceTo start, the app is poorly designed. Instead of providing the customer service phone number, it directs the user to use the number on the back of the membership card. The number on the electronic card is not a hyperlink, nor can it be copied into the phone app. One either has to go get their wallet or take a screenshot and then click on the screenshot, which automatically turns it into a hyperlink. Also, this review feature doesn’t scroll when you’re typing, so it hides what you’re typing unless you manually scroll. That’s the “good” news, sadly. The worse news: even after having to deal with the obstruction of the AI voice menu, the agent could not tell me the price of my next refill. After acknowledging that part of the reason my first refill of 2026 was double what I usually pay because I had to satisfy the deductible (which I now have), she kept insisting that the next refill would still be the same charge and not only seemed incapable of grasping that the deductible is only satisfied once. I finally had to hang up on her. Finally, last year, Optum kept telling me that they weren’t filling my non-formulary med because there was no prior auth, but it turns out that they never requested one. This happened repeatedly even after they had an approved prior authorization earlier in the year for this maintenance medication. Even worse, they then hid the medication from my list so that I couldn’t even pay cash for it. This will all find its way into the grievance I am filing with CMS..WestiefromCOVersion: 2.96.2
Not working and out of dateThis app needs a lot of work and fixes. Where to start… the Rx portion doesn’t list your medications that are called into the pharmacy until they are billed and paid and then aren’t complete. The pharmacy portion (at least for SelectRx) has no interface so you can’t see pending issues, shipping, needs attention, cost, etc. and I spent 3 hours on the phone with the insurance company with them telling me that I need to call the doctors office for a Prior authorization, but no one ever told me until I called and spoke with 3 reps before a supervisor finally said that I don’t need to do that the pharmacy does it. And with 4 prior auths on file none ever show up in the app. Also, on the claims, I’ve paid every time I see a doctor or Specialest and for the co pays on the medication but only a fraction has shown up. And when you call about it, no one has a clue. Also when I select to chat, it’s talking to an AI and never has the option for what I need but they sure what you to select how good their care is. Really wish I could talk to someone about the app. If it can’t do what most other health care and pharmacy apps can please let me know so I won’t expect much. If I’m not looking in the right spot let me know. If there’s more or other apps that keep up with my medication please direct me. And every time I ask to speak with the pharmacy, specifically SelextRx, don’t put me on hold for an hour only to send me to OptimumRx and I have to go through the whole process again. Very poor app for very important information..RobElderVersion: 2.73.0
BE AWARE this app has flawsHello! We have United Healthcare and they really promote this app. Before you download this app, and start paying your bills through the app, you need to know that there is a lag time of 60 days preventing bill payment through the app from having a meaningful impact on your deductible. We started off diligently paying our doctors bills immediately through the app, which felt very convenient and responsible. Then we would be billed, or get calls from collectors, for the bill that we had already paid on the app. in the confusion we paid twice several times! We have not been reimbursed for the amounts that we paid twice, even though in some cases, we realized it immediately and asked to be reimbursed. You need to know not to pay your bills through the app. If you talk to a United healthcare agent on the phone, they will actually advise you not to pay through the app. Paying your bills through the app will not help you. You will be billed twice. You need to wait for the insurance company to process your bills and tell you what you owe. If you call United Healthcare a recording mentions downloading the app repeatedly, urging you to use it. Please be aware that their app is very flawed when it comes to the timing of bills. Essentially, people who are diligent to pay bills quickly through the app are penalized. You will pay the price. App needs major bug fixing!.Vander jacketVersion: 2.71.0
Poor serviceThe app works fine, but UHC service is subpar. Several reasons doctors that are in network are not seeing covered patients due to lack of compensation. They say that UHC is not paying them for the work they're doing. so finding a doctor under UHC is becoming very difficult. Second thing is I'm diabetic and my prescriptions are not being covered now. So I'm getting myself in trouble. I've become fatigued and tired of being on the phone over and over with UHC trying to get this resolved for several reasons number one. I have really found it very difficult to understand the people I'm talking to. Their English is very poor and the connection is very poor. I have a very difficult time trying to communicate with him. This is going on for two weeks. They keep saying they need prior approval from my doctor, which has been done in my prescription is waiting to be filled but insurance is not covering it. So lack of prescriptions and lack of doctors and like communication UHC is now caused me to look at other sources of insurance. I'm exhausted from this whole process and it seems honestly that this has gotten really bad this last month ever since all this federal investigation of Medicaid fraud at UHC is going through I get the feeling they just don't want to cover the insurance anymore for me. It's time to move on..Gracie...S.Version: 2.87.0
Rarely WorksThe UHC App is a great idea but it has not been implemented correctly. For example, the Touch ID login doesn’t work and I have to cancel it and log in manually, then once I have signed in successfully, if I click on the options shown for Healthcare Providers I get an error message saying something went wrong. Then if I go back to the Home Screen and try to select my Drs office it says that isn’t available right now and please try again later. So I Try the section where I am supposed to be able to correct information that isn’t right like my Drs phone number and it goes through all the steps that should be required to submit the corrected phone number and then the number is still incorrect after six MONTHS of submitting the correct number. So then if you call them to submit the correct phone number they will inform you that you can’t actually correct any information about your Dr’s office and they say that the Dr’s office has to call them to correct the wrong information they are displaying for over six months. So I called my Dr’s office and gave them the number to call to correct the information and they called (more than once) but the wrong phone number still is listed both in the UHC App and in the UHC online website under provider information. So it doesn’t appear that they are interested in correcting information that is wrong.
The only thing that seems to work as it is supposed to work is the reporting of activities with an activity tracker like a Garmin VIVO device.
If this app ever started to work as it is supposed to, it could be a great thing but until they hire someone who is competent to fix it I only use it to report activity for the Rewards Program..Real Human Being who caresVersion: 2.34.1

ABSOLUTE WORST INSURANCE COMPANY!!!!UHC should not be in business!! They hire the most incompetent people in a profession that requires serious attention to detail! My appointments were run through as my husband’s. I talked to at least 4 different people about this and they don’t correct it after insisting it will be handled. I talked to a supervisor (after 4 different calls to verify in-network doctors) and she insisted a doctor was in network just like my mobile app indicated he’s in network, only to be told by the doctor’s biller that he is definitely NOT in network for my plan, but for a different UHC plan. When I talk to the UHC “customer service agents” they ask me to provide phone numbers and addresses for the doctors. I tell them it’s right there in the mobile app program! “Oh, you’re right!” They exclaim in surprise. They had me listed with a Primary Care Physician I never heard of and assured me they will fix it right away, but to date it still hasn’t been fixed. The supervisor today assured me she could fix it then says she can’t figure it out! Absolutely THE WORST INSURANCE COMPANY EVER!!! Their app doesn’t work, they have doctors listed in network when you sign in under your plan but those doctors are NOT in network. Ask one question and you’ll get 10 varied answers, none of the correct. HORRIBLE!!! DON’T USE UNITED HEALTHCARE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES!!!!!!.HONESTYPAYS$Version: 2.26.2
Accumulative Step Total Now MissingI’ve used this app for several years and although the new version of it for 2022 has generally been an improvement, one feature I really employed is now missing. I use this app to participate UHC’s Renew Rewards step program. With the app linked to my iPhone’s health data my steps are recorded. However, in previous years my accumulative step total for the entire year was always available on my UHC account. Now, though, once I had earned my reward for the month all following steps for the month were not available. When I contacted UHC I was told that my tracker was turned off and I needed to sync it. However, there was no way to do this because Step Reward no longer showed as an available activity on my account, I assume because I had already earned it for the month. Further, my tracker was not turned off anyway. It will be interesting to see happens when next month rolls around. Having the ability see see how many steps I have walked throughout the year was a real motivator. My husband and I had quite a competition and made an effort working to pass the three million step mark for the year—not too shabby for a 73-year-old and a 75-year-old. But now that steps no longer register on this app once we’ve earned the reward for the month it’s not nearly as much of an incentive to keep active, which obviously is the whole point of the program. Although my iPhone records my daily steps and provides lots of other related step information, it does not provide an accumulative step total for the year, which is one reason it was such a great feature on the previous UHC app. PLEASE add this feature back into your app so that I can revise my rating to five stars!.CTinOCVersion: 1.9.24
Rewards Benefits No PayoutBad experience. Downloaded the app because a co-worker shared a positive experience about earning rewards. I set up my watch as a tracker and spent my time completing surveys and tasks and gave access to my data for UHC’s use and when I saved up a high balance I tried to cash out for a Visa card but the app would not let me complete the prompts to cash in. I called the rewards department and was told that they needed to investigate bc they couldn’t even see my balance. After confirming a callback number, I never got one. Time went by and I reach out again because I was no longer able to see or access those benefit rewards. I was totally confused because I wasn’t sure if the rewards program was no longer being offered to employees through UHC or if they had expired. I reached out again and was told I was emailed but I have no emails from UHC rewards other than rewards points monthly earned or what I can join. I was basically told too bad those funds I earned have expired. I reached out to begin with for help in cashing in my earnings. If I didn’t want to earn easy money to begin with, I wouldn’t have gone to all the trouble of linking my watch to provide them with my data. Feels like getting scammed and a total waste of time..DA. WORST tech assistance EVER!My husband and I have both had United Healthcare for over 2 years now. His app works fine. Mine stopped working correctly in November. I made 3 phone calls before I was informed I should have a ticket number. Was never told I needed one before and never given one. My rewards, step tracking, and chat feature were all gone. I call every couple weeks and get different people who claim to be technology supervisors, but can’t figure out or fix the issue. I was finally told after. 3 1/2 hour phone conversation last month that there are two technology sides. One for the rewards under Healthy Benefits and one for the medical side. They claim that someone put the shortened version of my name into the system which flagged me as having an alias and stopped my app from working. Now when I call I get passed around and these people are from another country, they speak with such an accent I can barely understand them. It’s 5 months and numerous lengthy phone calls , hours long, still not fixed. Maybe Elon Musk needs to look into the Medicare supplements and get out American technological students to work on these issues. This is the most RIDICULOUS THING EVER!!!! Seriously United Healthcare hire English speaking technology people..Mimi_01Version: 2.76.0
Terrible glitchy appSearching for a healthcare provider using this app is a nightmare. Good luck searching for a specific provider. Is it under doctors, Specialists, facilities? Who knows! And good luck to you trying to figure it out. Not as simple as just entering a search term and seeing what results match your inquiry like a normal search engine with other insurance companies.
To top it off, once you find a list of potential providers, make sure you go through them quickly before the app decides to log you out and you have to sign in and start over halfway through your review.
But, that also depends if the app decides to let you log in at all. Depending on its mood it may log you in or it may tell you that your record wasn’t found, despite using FaceID linked to the same password that’s always worked for you.
But worst of all, I was able to save a list of all my health providers for easy reference which you’d think is great. Well, that is until the app decided to one day delete all my saved providers so that I had to look for them all over again using their terrible search engine and save them again. Who knows how long they’ll last in my Saved bucket this time.
I hate this app so much I have basically just resigned myself to using the desktop version..DKKeyesVersion: 1.8.14
Bugs and inaccurate infoWhere do I start…. Besides my absolute hatred for this company, the app is horrible, too. I haven’t been able to open the Find Care tab in weeks, which pretty much renders the app useless. Half the time, the information is inaccurate anyways. I made an appointment with a doctor that was listed as in-network only to arrive to the appointment and be told they are not in-network for my plan and I would have to pay out-of-pocket! After that, I started calling to verify with each provider and found that the info in the app was frequently inaccurate. I have also started taking screenshots of everything because the info changes day to day. One day, it showed a lab as in-network and the next day, no longer in-network. I’ve also been trying to find a decent PCP, but every one I have contacted so far has said they are not taking new patients — despite what the app says. The app also won’t let me see my children’s accounts. Every time I have called customer service, they tell me I will have to make separate accounts for each child — but it won’t let me do that because they are all under 13! I am literally counting down the days until January 1st so I can leave UHC..Chella831926Version: 2.87.0
Fine Until They Updated it.When I first used the app in March it worked fine but since the update it’s in a constant state of failure. It freezes, crashes and simply doesn’t work constantly. Due to some error with me having two different insurance policies I wasn’t actually able to log in to my account for months after the update. Even more frustrating was before the update, their behavioral health section was actually much easier to navigate and more robust then my previous insurance, Anthems. Now they’ve changed the way BH is organized and you can no longer search by profession only the vague BH issues anxiety, family issues and substance abuse (you can do a blanket search for any profession but the app crashes so much when I try this it might as well not be an option). This leads to not being able to find therapists, psychologists or psychiatrists who are covered. They seem to list nurse practitioners first and foremost, and while they can be great for medication management they are not a one to one replacement for all mental health services . Even more frustrating they removed all crisis information, beyond a number, such as in patient facilities so good luck if you or your loved one has one..MegalodonTiredVersion: 2.62.0
IneffectiveIt has a list of the claims that have been made to your account. Many of the claims on that list have a button that say "pay now" as if it was a debt you owed as a copay. UHC customer service says the list shows up like that because they do not and cannot know what has already been paid (like same-day at the doc's office) and what has not been paid. You, the member, would have to be perfect at keeping track of every single claim and whether of not you paid the copay that day or not. If you pay on the app and remember later that it was something you had already paid, it will be almost impossible to get the correction made. No only will you need to remember which copays you mistakenly paid, but UHC uses different 3rd party processing companies and you would have to go through a lot of stress and frustration to get to the correct one, only to hope that their customer service is competent enough to help you. If they aren't, you start the whole calling process all over again. This app has not helped me one bit. It had, without a doubt, complicated things exponentially for me. THIS IS THE MOST USELESS APP I HAVE EVER DOWNLOADED. And I hate having UHC, as well. It is a ridiculously unorganized company..AndyKyooVersion: 2.58.0
Worst insurance experience EVERMy claims and prior authorizations are often (if not always) declined and appealed. I was not able to get proper care on two specific occasions because of prior authorization denials, and as a DIRECT result, had to pay out of pocket for care, and was placed in a worthless rehabilitation program on the other instance. I have MS & need insurance I can depend on, and I need to be able to speak with customer service agents who speak English. I just spent 40 minutes trying to get the customer service representative to email me DME providers wrote are located in OKC. She said she can’t email it, even though I receive ENDLESS email from you. She couldn’t understand me & I couldn’t understand her—I will never understand why you put your employees and customers in that frustrating situation? It happens every time I call customer service. Presently, I need to find a wheelchair at a DME facility that takes your insurance because you declined my preauthorization, and have to find a way to get around on my GIGANTIC SWOLLEN FOOT AND LEG. Can you offer help in ENGLISH? I hope you never have a chronic disease and get treated like this from your health insurance company..Unbelievably frustrated …Version: 2.81.0
GOD AWFULYou think you’ve signed in to pay a bill only to begin a 3 hour marathon of aggravation and repetition. Like the pay a bill link and you get a blank page. No error message and no way to just go back. You navigate through the entire mess of an app and discover maybe the health safe ID link has to be activated. So you go through all that to confirm who you are, but it won’t text you. You have to get a phone call. OK. Then you have to jump through hoops for it to force you to verify your identity through email. OK. Do that, then try to login to the UHC app and you get the same error messages over again. It’s like the most incompetent people are running these apps. But how can we expect anything different when we allow the most corrupt greedy humans to control our lives? This is why that UHC CEO mass murderer got what he deserved. I’m so sick of the red tape. We need universal healthcare and to put an end to these middle men thieves. A bonus is finding out your benefits expire at the end of every month, so if they make it difficult enough for you to not access your benefits, then they get to keep that money. Some scam..CantfindafknnicknameVersion: 2.82.0
Great app until…I really like the app to see my spending and help keep track of benefits. The problem is when you reach out for support through phone or chat it’s awful. I’m dealing with dental claims for my children. There are so many loopholes to get out of paying it is ridiculous. This is for cleaning and X-rays. My poor dentist office has been doing their best to help with this but they are frustrated and have not had to deal with this issue from other plans. They will not pay on my daughter’s cleaning because she is 12 1/2 and requires adult cleaning(she has no baby teeth left) but they will only pay if she’s 13. The refused to pay the dentist for even the child cleaning price. My son had x-rays and will only cover one side because you can’t bill for 2 sides on the same appointment. Omg you can’t make this up. If your considering this company for dental insurance beware. They also quit speaking to me on the phone (I was not using foul language just frustrated) and would let me take the survey the offered in the beginning and I can no longer reach out to them on the app lol. I feel like I’m back in high school!!!.Wildflower45Version: 2.60.0
This app went backwards and deleted claims payment linkUp until they updated the app within the last month or two, if you had an HSA or a flex plan, you could pay directly from the app with your plan in 2-3 clicks. This recent update deleted that capability and made you pay via the main website. (Ok, I thought, not as convenient, but not a big deal.) Well, this meant several long verification sessions and finally took me to an independent payment site where there is no option of linked payment accounts, and worse yet, they require you to find the routing and account numbers, (and not even pay with a debit/credit card) which you cannot find the Optum Bank account numbers through the app, nor download a statement with the account numbers through the app. I finally gave up with UHC and said, “Skip this, I’m going to my hospital app.” (Which let me pay with my HSA debit card and payment completed). So UHC, your updated app stinks. Please bring back linked payment capability to make easy payments from the app. Must be your app developer took a vacation from his brain when he updated the app..Jserman31Version: 2.17.1
Liked the UHC Motion app way moreI do not care for the new reward app. Before with motion it was really about hitting goals for walking more in 3 ways throughout the day . Getting up and walking so many steps in a few minutes several times a day, walking over 10k daily and walking quickly 30 minutes a day. That is really encouraging people to move more. Now with rewards you get a little $ for 5k and a little more for 10k. That’s it as far as physical activity. Instead you get money from attaching your device and filling out a health survey, which requires no effort other than tapping a screen and is just a way for the insurance company to get information about people’s health, probably for future insurance limitations. The reward program certainly doesn’t encourage anyone to be more physically active, 5-10k is minimal and doesn’t require the effort of moving multiple times a day or walking quickly. Looks like it is more about insurance information gathering than really encouraging healthy habits. Just very disappointing. Also, it is not syncing well..MikadolVersion: 2.60.0
Simple question turned into a 30 minute non-resolutionThe help or non-help I received today was totally useless. After chatting with 2 representatives I was ultimately told they would need to call me back. The 3rd representative that I spoke to told me there was nothing she could do. I used my UCard the day before for the first time and the store charged me twice which I didn’t realize until I got home and saw the balance in my UCard account. I don’t mind going back to the store for a refund, but don’t know why I had to speak to 3 different representatives before being told that and in a very uncaring way. The least she could have done was show some empathy for my situation. I had to explain what was going on 3 times which is also unacceptable. I managed a call center for 20+ years before just retiring in June and this would be a call or situation that I would definitely coach my associate on. I’m extremely disappointed in my first attempt to use my UCard and the support or lack there of from your team..You’re SeriousVersion: 2.85.0
Unorganized and HazardousTo Whom it May Concern,
I am appalled at the caliber of service that you provide. You should be embarrassed by your outdated and inaccurate lists of health care providers in your network that you provide to patients. I literally have never seen or experienced this level of inaccuracies especially in healthcare. Your advocates on the phone asked for repeated information, hung up on me accidentally, and left me waiting for long periods of time that ultimately resulted in disconnections. Not to mention, they never provided a working solution. I had to call back six times! All I am looking for is a primary care physician who is accepting new patients. Out of the four lists that were sent to me, NOT one worked. All contacts given to me are either not accepting new patients, non working phone numbers, deliver a completely different service- not family medicine, etc. I have now been on hold for over 20 min trying to speak with just a supervisor. I have been on the phone calling UHC’s list of providers and speaking to no one that makes sense. This should not be THIS HARD! I would NEVER recommend any of my colleagues to sign on with UHC and come open enrollment, I will be done.
I am not usually one to complain, however the whole rendition this morning on the phone for over two hours is unacceptable.

Prescription payment method updateCalling United healthcare, Medicare, RX for an update to the payment method for our co-pay for prescription drugs was painful. The United healthcare advocate had limited English skills and a headphone that either had a broken cord or faulty Mike. On the second try (after having been on hold for 35 minutes the first time), the United healthcare advocate was finally able to transfer us to a an optimum RX advocate. That advocate was a refreshing change in that her English skills were fully legible understandable, and she was able to take the new credit card number and update the account pleasantly, and with minimum fuss. I would give the optimum representative, five stars, and the two stars goes to the Medicare RX advocate. It might be worthwhile for United healthcare to consider allowing optimum RX to have their own direct website to handle these issues to avoid pain points for their customer calling United healthcare directly..Decider2Version: 2.49.0
DentalI went to affordable dentures in Clarksville Tennessee to get my dentures replaced. They were so rude and she made a comment if you want to refund just ask for it and I did and I never received my dentures from that dentist and I got my $375 backsent back to my bank cause I paid with a debit card and they were never supposed be paid the $1250 that you people paid them in September why I contacted UnitedHealthcare and their office and United healthcare spoke to the representative there so why did you pay them $1250 in September when you knew I was not going to return there and my dentures were not completed in July. He spoke to the office manager and her name is Deborah Well representative from United healthcare did and now that that dentist has $1250 of my money and I never received the dentures. Using UHIt’s difficult to find information about my policy in detail. I have to call often and am on hold forever. I’m also getting denied for services that I pay thousands of dollars for each year. It’s very unfair to have someone deciding your life for you and denying services when they aren’t in constant pain. I’m sure if they were in this pain, they would want to be helped. It’s very unfair and disturbing that a human has such control over another human and with no concern for their health and quality of life when that’s what they are actually supposed to help you with and to help you be healthy. I’d like the person whom denied my test to live in my body- let’s see if he/she could last 5 minutes! But hey, me being denied doesn’t have any effect on his/her life and health! So I guess it’s easy to not care about the people paying them their salaries to deny healthcare!.Scot RoyaltyVersion: 2.8.0
IVIG Delivery, billing errors, and coding errorsOff and on for the past 2, years, I have been jumping through hoops to take care of multiple, as in at least 20 billing and coding errors, that result in me getting charged hundreds of dollars each tim, when it should be covered 100%. I am being charged as a home infusion, when I have NEVER, EVER had a home infusion my whole life. I have always gotten my infusions at an infusion center. I have also had my IVIG delivered to my house, instead of the infusion center, and they had to return to pick it up. I just received another notification today, saying another IVIG delivery will be arriving tomorrow. It’s never ending. I have been told over and over and over that it will be red flagged, and I won’t have to worry about it anymore. I have even spoken to my Patient Navigator.
