About ASCCP Management Guidelines (American Society For Colposcopy And Cervical Pathology Inc)

The ASCCP Risk-Based Management Consensus Guidelines provide evidence-based recommendations for managing abnormal cervical cancer screening results and cancer precursors, including post-colposcopy and post-treatment scenarios.

ASCCP is pleased to offer this app to streamline navigation of the ASCCP Risk-Based Management Consensus Guidelines for abnormal cervical cancer screening tests and cancer precursors. The guidelines articles, as published in the Journal of Lower Genital Tract Disease, as well as the comprehensive risk estimates, can be accessed through https://www.asccp.org/guidelines.
These evidence-based management guidelines, initially developed in 2019, came together through a consensus process of 19 organizations. The updated management guidelines aim to:
• Allow for a more complete and precise estimation of risk
• Provide more appropriate intervention for high-risk individuals (detect and treat more precancer)
• Recommend less intervention for low-risk individuals (decrease testing and treatment that won’t prevent cancer and may cause reproductive harm)
• Allow for the future addition of new risk modifiers and screening and management technologies

See https://www.asccp.org/UserGuide for tips on using the app.

Simplified patient care

This app is a very user friendly medical app that includes all of the updates management guidelines so I can better manage my patients. It includes prior risk thresholds that predict current and future risk. Like the last app this one takes some wine to get used to, but once you do, it makes shared decision making very efficient.

Mark H EinsteinVersion: 1.0
Can be a little confusing

Not as bad as the other review suggests but can be confusing if you’re not starting from square 1. The app was redesigned to reflect the updated guidelines for screening and management. The major thing this app is missing that was present in the old version was the “next steps” section where you could continue to enter results and it would take you down the appropriate pathway. If this feature is implemented then this app would be great!

Alexmac08Version: 1.0
Good info for patients/chart

I have found the app to be easy to use and, while it has not changed how I would manage the patient, the percentage risk numbers allow for a better discussion with the patient and better data when documenting decision making. Overall it is worthwhile.

NoahagoldmanVersion: 1.0
Guideline paradigm shift not app problem

I am using the new app and was reticent because of the negative reviews but it works well! It is totally different than before but considering the change in guidelines it couldn’t have been the same plug and play. Agree that it’s stupidly expensive but it’s worth the money to keep my practice current.

SybarriteVersion: 1.0
Great app, a notification on the old app would have been good!

I use this app daily. i’m glad to see that there are now ways to input previous results. it would be a very good idea to send a notification to all the previous app users that they need to update to this new one.

Great app!

I really appreciate this app. I’m a nurse and I work in a pap follow-up department so I use this every day and it’s incredibly helpful. My co-workers and I noticed one thing after the recent update, though: y’all spelled “colposcopy” wrong on the “Evaluation of a colposcopy biopsy” button. I mean, come on guys, this is a professional medical organization — use spell check.

PinkspecsVersion: 1.5
So useful!!

I use this app nearly every day I’m the clinic to help evaluate results and guide clinical decisions. I love that it has the most up to date information. Would recommend for all clinicians who are evaluating paps and colposcopies.

JmcelyeaVersion: 1.7
Not as easy to navigate

The previous app was easier to navigate. I do appreciate the updated information, however. If they could combine the ease of the previous app with the information of the new app, this would be perfect.

Carabiner252Version: 1.2
Glitchy update

Adding dual stain results leads to the app freezing and asking for additional information when no additional information is needed or available. Works better if dual stain results are not entered. Hoping for a bug fix soon!

ColpoJimVersion: 2.0.1
HORRIBLE!!

This app is horrible I have yet to be able to use it outside of normal results. If you have any abnormal results this is not the place to go for guidance. I want the old app back please!

ZionMidwifeVersion: 1.6
Used to work, now crashes after update

This used to work very well, now some combinations cause instant crashing instead of giving recommendations. I wish I had never updated.

User_of_AppsVersion: 2.0
I hate the update

It doesn’t give me management plans if I don’t have prior history. I can’t skip that part. This needs to be fixed

The Pap App is my FAVE

This is a great app, very handy and reliable, and I use it daily in clinic. I love that it shows immediate and future progression to CIN-3. Helps patients understand better.

Apparently an Old LadyVersion: 2.1
Easier than looking at the most complex spreadsheets ever

But Why not offer as an update to the old app!!!! This was a major selling point last time- yes it’s $10 but at least you’ll stay updated when the guidelines change 🤦🏼‍♀️

Love this

Helps with management decisions, quick and easy to use at work.

It looks like there are some updates but it has not automatically updated my app. How do the updates get applied?

Thank you for the updates. This will help so many clinicians make appropriate follow up recommendations.

ASCCP Management Guidelines Negative Reviews and Ratings

Why not update the last app???

I do not understand why the last app was not updated and we have to purchase a new one. I had no idea there was a new app. I assumed my last app was auto updating with the most recent guidelines. I ended up recommending a colpo for a patient that didn’t need one because I was using an outdated app and recommendations changed. Thankfully she did not end up having an unnecessary procedure but this is a huge issue. At the very least, a notification when opening the last app stating an updated version is available would have been nice so we not using outdated information. This is not good patient care.

ChowskiVersion: 1.7
Not user friendly

I loved the old app! It was extremely user friendly, efficient, and always got me the info I needed. This new app is incredibly frustrating and often ends with “not enough information” or “use your clinical judgement.” I wish I had known so I wouldn’t have deleted the old version and paid the $9.99 for this one. I am part of a social network of thousands of women OB/Gyns that are feeling similarly to me. I am hoping this app will be revised, and fast, otherwise I will likely end up deleting it. It is a shame, because I used the old app several times a day.

DrEM1982Version: 1.0
New version not intuitive

This app has great information. The old version was super easy to use. But this new version is confusing, not intuitive and I feel like even after spending a lot of time on the app, I can’t always find the information I’m looking for. Wish they would go back to their older versions with step by step input from screen to screen. And I wish they would provide the references flow sheets from the guidelines in their results. Please improve!

Paddler95Version: 1.1
New update is problematic

On my iPhone, when I select the hpv test type, the app jumps down to previous cytology, skipping current cytology. If you don’t recognize that, you’ll just select previous cytology as if it’s the current cytology and leave current cytology blank, resulting in the wrong management plan. I hope you can fix this bug.

RichthigVersion: 2.4.1
Frustrating.

I hope I am missing something. I wish this app was as integrated as the previous one- this one seems to require a person have both this app for the latest guidelines, and the previous one to have the actual recommendations. Which makes sense from a monetary stand point since the last app was not updated and instead a new app was made- but frustrating from a clinician POV.

J.reviewsVersion: 1.2
Update without explanation

The update from last week gives different clinical recommendations with no clear explanation. Did asccp change their guidelines? If not, why is it recommending new courses of action? A colleague who had not yet updated and I input the same clinical scenario into our respective apps and got completely different recommendations… what do we tell the patient?

EYPA2024Version: 2.0.1
Review

This is not as good as the previous app. People want to move forward in time in a step-wise manner like the previous version. Also the language used for the point in time in which we begin entering our previous results in unclear. For example are we following up on current results of a pap or Colpo? Most of the time the are coming to us for a pap or colpo and we want to know are they appropriately scheduled for such.

TookfwqioplmbfddyijbVersion: 1.5
Not user friendly

Confusing, challenging to use especially when trying to quickly look something up between patients. I do like that you can put in their previous results. VERY unhappy to pay $9.99 AGAIN. Should have been an included upgrade in previous app. Still remains most expensive app I’ve ever downloaded, now I'll just consider it $20 not just $10.

CNM KatieVersion: 1.0
Bad update

I have used this app for years. This latest update is terrible. It makes you start with the colpo and make your way backwards and it came to a point in which I had to choose if HPV was positive or negative. Problem was, there was no option for no HPV done. It would not let me proceed from there and was useless. This was on a patient under 30 years old, so co-testing was not done. Ugh

Higgly wigglyVersion: 2.0.1
Horrible app

This app is BEYOND confusing and information is missing. I am trying to put in a CIN3 for the colpo and there is not an option to pick CIN3. I am jumping all over the place trying different scenarios and I am so confused. To have to repurchase this app (because I could not upgrade the old one) for it to be subpar is inappropriate and DANGEROUS! You all need to fix this ASAP. Or I will just have to use my “clinical judgement” as the told me for CIN2 on a colpo.

Confused GynecologistVersion: 1.0
$$

The old version was already one of the most expensive basic medical apps on the market, and to come out with an entirely new one, for another $9.99, rather than just updating the old one is really praying of residents with limited financial resources who are just trying to learn and provide good care. It is a great app and helpful, but to have had to pay for it twice in residency leaves a very sour taste in my mouth.

Obgyn421Version: 1.0
There should be a video on how to use the app

This app is very challenging to use. I am struggling with being able to easily insert the appropriate information to get the recommendations such as: abnormal pap, colp, abnormal pap—get recommendation. I miss the old App which was straightforward and you didn’t have to back log vs move forward.

Becca237Version: 1.0
Poor update

This app is confusing and difficult to use. For example, I put in a normal result for a 25 year old with a normal history. Even then, the routine follow up was hard to see. In fact, just try to find the routine screening guidelines. I think that this app was tested on people with prior knowledge. It is going to confuse new practitioners. ACSSP - get your money back from the programmers - this app is not worth $10!

Customer037393Version: 1.0
Latest update less functional

Most recent update in 2024 much more challenging to navigate- getting stuck in loops when entering information or having entered data under incorrect headings as you progress through the sequence.

Tania VMVersion: 2.0.1
Figures for Algorithim Are Gone

The iPhone app no longer shows the figures for the algorithm, so you don’t have it to compare to the recommended testing when the app doesn’t spit out a good answer or the clinical presentation is complicated

AdhetrickVersion: 1.3
Not as intuitive

Not as intuitive as previous app. I was a little frustrated to purchase the previous app that worked well but became unsupported and had to repurchase this app that is challenging to use. I haven’t figured out how to get it to navigate to the recommendation page

GynerooVersion: 2.4
Difficult to use

I have been using ASCCP app since it first came out. I loved the previous app. It was very user-friendly. This new app is SO confusing. It is so much more difficult then the previous app. I do not like it at all. I even watched the tutorial. Please consider revamping it. All of my co-workers agree.

NP CindyVersion: 1.0
Good info, terrible app.

This app is garbage. It doesn’t allow you to advance through the screens when you enter in certain info (if someone is HPV other positive with NILM cytology.) the flow charts should also be more easy to access. It’s definitely an insult to have to pay 10$ for this.

SicornVersion: 2.0.1
Physician

App is not that smooth; does not scroll on my iPhone well; was told there is portion also for DES exposure but not able to find that; a bit disappointed

DrAnneGVersion: 1.3
Guidelines inconsistent with the web app

This is extreme frustrating - the recommendations in the application version no longer match the web-based version (ie have not been kept up to date)!! This has led to inadvertent mismanagement . And this is a paid application too!

Dr.GYNECOLOGISTVersion: 2.0.1
So difficult to use

Not user friendly. Things need to be linked to each other. Still reference the old app because it’s so much easier to use and get to a final recommendation.

MerkpVersion: 1.3
I wish I had the old version back

New app is confusing to use compared to previous version

Cayman SVersion: 1.3
The new app is not as intuitive as the original

This app is not intuitive. I prefer the original style, especially since this one is a paid app.

RobK2011Version: 1.1
Not user friendly

Despite following the instructions and tips for using the new app, it’s performance is woeful compared to its predecessor. Fingers crossed there is a revision and an another version becomes available which we can use to provide patient care.

Jeff42642Version: 1.7
Not as easy to use as old app

This app is difficult to use and not nearly as clear as old app

DdMegVersion: 2.0.1
Awful

This new app is terrible and quite frankly useless. Almost any “follow up after treatment situation” ends with “no data is available, use clinical judgement”. Even though the algorithm papers would give you a recommendation. I regret having deleted the old app!

Lsr0911Version: 1.0
“Manage per guidelines”

A lot of the algorithms mention “manage per 2019 guilds lines. But they don’t include what those guidelines are. Otherwise easy to use
