I don’t know why there has not been a separate post informing the residents of this app. It may have been buried in the Smart Rent information, but no one I know made it that far! I was trapped in the stairwell when I didn’t have to be. Please send out a community wide email so that tenants don’t have rig the doors so that they can get back into the building which unfortunately allows people who do not belong here access. If you belong here, a resident will be able to open a specific door to allow children, girlfriends, friends etc. a way to get in. As a resident, I’m here to tell you that other residents are clueless about this extraordinary feature. I wasn’t feeling the Smart Rent installation, but now I am understanding just how deeply it changed the experience of living here.
When our HOA implemented this system to reduce expense associated with having guards at the front gate I had concerns about the change. Since the I have come to accept and even appreciate the efficiency of this system. It has worked well with the RFID tags placed on our vehicles and has been great when visiting with a rental car. So far it has exceeded my expectations. I will say, however, that when relying only on a cell phone to enter, I am a bit concerned that forgetting my cell phone will create an issue. The ability to use the kiosk to “phone a friend” helps alleviate this concern. So far so good. At this time, in the infamous words of “The Monkeys”, I’m a Believer!
App is needed for neighborhood gate access. It used to work fine, but lately has been logging out users making gate calls and other functions incredibly frustrating. Face identification doesn’t seem to work either making the process to simply open the gate difficult and time consuming.
For some odd reason the app keeps logging everyone out. It’s very uncomfortable that you get to the gate and open the app just so the app can tell you that you need to log in. As you try your login, the line of cars gets longer and longer. As long as the app keeps you logged in, the app works just fine. Please fix this issue. Thank you.
Updated message: Thank you for the quick fix! I have updated the rating as the app is working again. I know it was due to the Apple beta update, but I needed to bring the issue to your attention. Original message: Every time I click on the app nothing happens. This is a new issue this week.

With an update to version 5.0.0 I no longer have the edit option on my Home Screen. The app now goes to a default screen where I can no longer add the Siri Shortcuts to open my gates. Is this feature no longer supported or is it due to an iPhone update? What are the steps to get the Siri integration back? The support site only shows the old method through the Home Screen. Please advise.
UPDATE!! Just found out that their App does support CarPlay!! Go to your CarPlay settings and add a the app as a Widget. Now bumping up to 5 stars!! This app would be 5 stars if it had the CarPlay support. Now I have to fumble to find my phone, unlock it and use it all while driving towards the gate. CarPlay support would make this much safer!!
I like being able to see camera video of each guest entrance. They do improve the app, still have occasions each week where I cannot view the video feed. App keeps accurate information on each gate access.
When doorbell rings, the proper window opens sometimes but they can’t always hear me and door never buzz open. Had to close the pop up and go to open app to open door . This is not helpful and has been a waste money
Called support but no resolution. When two iPhones share the same iCloud account and there are two myQ logins one on each phone. They myQ login switches from one phone to the other every few days without logging in and out. It happens to others in my community also any time a iCloud account is shared.
I would like it better if there was a way to access more than one phone number per account. If I’m working it would be nice if a second phone was called to grant access. Other is super clear and works very well.
I like the app but I have to constantly delete and re-add the app because it will log me out and not allow me to sign. It also won’t work and give me the opps error when trying access my building.
I would appreciate an Apple Watch App as I do t always carry my iPhone but I always wear my watch. My community has a portion for opening the pool gate. I would never take my phone to the pool but I always swim in my watch. Thank you for your consideration.
This is really a crappy system that works intermittently, sometimes the screen populates sometimes it does not. I would not waste the trouble. Have had the tech repair person out twice and he cannot figure it out either and he works for the company.
I haven’t been able to find a way to modify an existing guest pass once it’s created. It would be really helpful if the app allowed users to edit or update guest passes without having to delete and recreate them.
A plus would be that the app would work in the car with apple car play…
5 stars 100% awesome
Great product, I would recommend it to anyone!
Awesome app
MyQ Community Negative Reviews and Ratings
This app is worse in every way to a key fob. It takes on average 10 seconds for it to connect to Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, check you’re authenticated, etc, before letting you open a door. Sometimes, the doors don’t even open when you click the button because the app is in an errored state. Even if the app performed well, it doesn’t make sense as a concept. Why split up each access reader into its own button? At my complex, I have access to every single gate and door in the complex on Community. How is it more advantageous to have to scroll through a list and find the right button to click when I could just use a $10 RFID FOB that has access provisioned to all of the aforementioned gates? This app’s only practical use is to unlock the drive through gates, and even that could be powered by RFID reader and FOB. This is yet another needless product in an era where software devs and product managers aren’t told NO nearly enough to their ideas. Why reinvent the wheel? Because we can get investor funding for it and inconvenience TONS of residents!
Update 3/14 - Watch app no longer works after recent update. It just crashes as soon as it opens. Please test your app before deploying, we aren't your beta testers. Also, Siri only works if your community pays for the higher tier service. CarPlay should be introduced as a basic function. Come on guys! Spend a little on your developers to give us a great app. Last year I was ready to stop using this app entirely. It would constantly log me out. For the last few months it has been rock solid! It consistently and reliably works for my usage now. In my case, I only use it for the vehicle gates in my community which means only when I'm in my car and driving. Using my watch or fumbling with my phone while I'm driving to open the gates is not ideal. All my vehicles have CarPlay. Why doesn't this app work on CarPlay? It seems like a no-brainer to offer. Please add it!
While I have had no problem intuitively using the app, many in my community are having a terrible experience with it. I’ve searched hi and lo for tutorials to walk my neighbors through it, and there are no online instructions, only promo videos to glibly sell the product to property managers. That’s great for your company, but useless to the end user who may live in a community with an awol or overworked property manager. Whether one is tech savvy or not, you should provide step by step instructions for every feature. One shouldn’t have to go through their property manager…especially one who never responds. I know that’s not your problem, but ultimately the residents are your end user/customer and an interface with them would serve everyone well all around.
Since moving into my apartments, the app worked well with gate access and guest access. However, recently the option to create guest passes disappeared from the app. The leasing office said the app developers decided to remove that feature from the app and do not intend on bringing it back. I don’t see the change listed in the feature updates, and the app itself still lists guest passes as a feature even though they aren’t an option. Why the change? And why isn’t there any documentation for this change? Can it be added back? It’s very frustrating that it was removed without any sort of notification or reason for its removal.
I have been sitting at my gate for 12 minutes and the app finally decides to show the button to open my gate. The app will do this very randomly too even if I have full data. There is no reason this should be happening and I am looking for alternatives from this app. The app will also make my screen go black sometimes requiring me to force restart. It looks like recently from the reviews I’ve been reading that people are facing same issues as me and the current development team for this app have not been testing their releases. If I were a community deciding which app to use for the gate, I would stay clear from this one. There is no reason I should be stuck at my own gate for 12 minutes before the app decides to load and I can enter my home.
This app is literally the worst, I never write reviews but I have to write this one. The biggest down fall of this service is it doesn’t keep you logged in. It will randomly log you off when it feels like it. Why should I have to constantly check this app to make sure I’m logged in. Right when I get to the gate to open it, it logs me out then I have to re-sign in with a line of cars waiting on me. It makes the older service we had before our apartments switched to this much more better. What’s so hard about staying signed in and why is this app against it. Every other app I use that provides any service keeps me signed in but this one can’t get it right and refuses to make that change. Terrible, I wish I wasn’t forced to use this service
My apartment complex just started using this back in February 2025. It is great when it works. My big complaint is that I always have to fish out my phone to open the gate to my parking garage to get to park if there’s anyway it can go to my CarPlay and Siri where I can open it before I get to the concrete area cause it will not open up when I’m in the concrete part of the garage so I have to open it up before hand before getting there And it works on my Apple Watch when it wants to. I always have to uninstall it and reinstall it to make it work so if we could fix those little bugs, it would be a cute little app
The app seems to work fine as the front south gate…the one that I use more frequently than the others, responds perfectly. The only Caveat is the fact that my iPhone has a driver observer app from my auto insurance company that watches the way I drive including if I even so much as touch my iPhone while my cars engine is running. When I enter the property, and access the app to open the gate, this is interpreted as me using the iPhone while driving the car..thus resulting in points that affect my future car insurance rates. I do hope that ORION took this into consideration before installing this system…
The photos on this page and main website advertise that Siri can unlock entrances, but when asking Siri it responds “sorry I cant help you with that” and when clicking the link to the webpage for instructions you get a “404 Error page”. Also, when trying to add to Control Center or Widget all you see is an option for “Control Entrance” and when you tap it, it cycles for half a second then closes. It’s bad enough I have to physically pull out my phone (vs using Siri) in the car from wherever it may be, but to still have to to input my passcode to unlock it, go into the app, etc, all while keeping my foot on the brake.. seems like a liability.
This app is the one my apartment complex uses for the gates to our community. It has been buggy since the community first provided it to us. It loops through signin, drops users from the community, the “support” menu option does absolutely nothing so there is no way to contact or get help. Residents have been stranded outside and unable to gain access to where they live. To top that all off, the watch companion app that was like the best part of the experience has not been removed or has otherwise disappeared at the recent OS update. It seems there are complications every time there is an OS update.
The app crashes every single time I open it on my watch. This just started happening this weekend and it’s been incredibly frustrating. I upgraded my watch to a 10, so I’d have a compatible device for this app, and now it’s completely nonfunctional. When doing QA and testing for an app update, do you all not test all devices that users would use??? I use this to access all entry to my apartment, and my watch makes it easier and safer to do so. When can we expect a functional app again? Also I would like to echo the sentiments regarding CarPlay. It is absolutely insane that that functionality has yet to be implemented for an app that OPENS GARAGES AND GATES?????
I don’t like the my community app. I get logged out pretty often and have been kicked out of community somehow. I use this app to open the vehicle gates to my community and when I get logged out I have to log back in while behind the wheel of my car to get back to my house. It’s not only inconvenient, but also dangerous. It’s also ridiculous that I can’t link my garage to the app or the community to the MyQ app so I have to have two separate apps under the same umbrella of products. Finally, me being on iOS it won’t connect to HomeKit at all so I can’t put all of my devices in one place which is also ridiculous
I absolutely hate this app. I have used building access apps previously (Latch) and never had these issues. With Community, I have errors EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. I try to use the app and constantly receive “an error has occurred” and the door won’t open. It sometimes takes a few minutes to get into the building. Today, I was logged out of my app because my password was “incorrect”. While trying to update my password, the new password wouldn’t save and then while being on the sign up/login page I got the drop down to open the nearest door, which worked despite being logged out?
The app works at a basic level, ie. I can unlock the door to let myself in and see a history of calls. However, despite agreeing to allow notifications & Bluetooth during installation, the app does not show up in Settings->Privacy & Security->Bluetooth, nor Settings->Notifications, nor somehow in the Settings full application list. This prevents me being able to configure notifications to come through any focus modes which renders the video call/unlock portion of the app pointless.
For residents living in large Apt complexes, the ability to pin favorite doors/gates at the top would be extremely helpful!!! Having to scroll all the way through 40+ listed doors to get to the garage gate at the bottom is not convenient. The door I most often enter is near the bottom too. I typically use only 3-4 doors daily in the complex, so being able to save these at the top would make using this app a lot more enjoyable. Thanks!
We are stuck with the app to enter our community. It never calls the correct person from the gate even with the recommended log in last from support. It interferes with the use of our garage door and camera (myq app) since installation over 2 years ago, it’s always going to be corrected by updates… still waiting!!! Just want to have an app that works especially since there is no other option with HOA. Stop making broken promises and just fix all the issues!!!
Overall, I believe the complex is really looking good. The maintenance guys do a wonderful job and they’re on point the only issue that I can think of that could be easily fixed is the TVs in the gym all that needs to happen is to go to Walmart and get two $10 antennas HD antennas and plug those into the TVs and he would have up to 50 channels which would also give you the local channels off air for free and that way on the weekends when there’s sports on people who are working out to watch their games otherwise everybody seems to be doing a great job tomt
This week all the guest passes everyone issued disappeared from the app. The codes are still working, but you can no longer see or control the passes. New passes added this week are also disappearing. This was caused by an update to the app. Is the development team not testing releases before going live? I have a pass I would like to delete so that the person can no access the community and I have no way of doing so. This is an issue, but the larger issue is the apparent lack of testing before release.
It’s obvious that this was designed to check off a list of features rather than thinking of the end user experience. The app takes several seconds to start and won’t work at all if you’re offline- which is obviously very likely if you’re in a garage or elevator. The app also seems to completely crash on my watch. Also it doesn’t integrate with CarPlay which is irritating. I miss my key fob and clicker. Not everything needs to be a cloud connected smartphone enabled app; definitely not if you can’t hire competent engineers.
My husband and I both use this app forced on us by our HOA and it’s the worst. Sometimes it works and then we get logged off for no apparent reason and we have to contact our hoa to give us access to it again but then sometimes the people that handle those specific issues are not available so we just sit and wait for someone to give us access to OUR community where we live. It’s very frustrating. No I do not recommended using remote apps to access your home.
The App suddenly stopped open it on my iPhone 15. We have tried everything from removing the app to resetting the phone, I contacted my community manager and he got in contact with the developer technical support and they say the app is ok, the problem is with the phone… so nobody has been able to solve the problem. What’s the solution? Change my iPhone? Absurd!!!! We paid a lot in this community to work with this system and all the time there is a problem with it
This was super handy to use when it had the watch app, so that I would not have to use my phone to open the gates and could use Bluetooth with the watch but now I have to dig out the phone. Also hard to use the shortcuts to actually get it to work. Please bring back the watch capabilities
About once a week I open the app to get into my apartment’s gate and it has logged me out. This most recent time it want accepting my password and I had no other way of getting in the property besides waiting for someone to open it a few minutes later. Also very glitchy and has a pop up each time saying ‘video call failed’ when I haven’t clicked anything. Apartments beware, this app is glitchy and not reliable!
This app will log me out every few days. There is no place to save the password or an option to use Face ID instead. There have been times when I'm trying to access my property only to find that I've been logged out and have to fiddle with trying to remember the login while people are waiting behind me. It is very frustrating.
I use this at my apartment complex to open the garage door in the parking garage, and on average I am hitting the “unlock” button around 5 times before it finally responds and the garage opens. Please let me know of anything I can do to fix this. My service is low in the garage, which could be the issue…
Since the latest patch my iPhone keeps logging me out and it keeps logging me off my AppleWatch. One of these days I am going to get locked out of my complex because I forgot my phone. Kinda nullifies the convenience when the watch constantly needs to sync back up with the phone, and about 1/4 times I have to log back in on the phone app. Please fix this!
The app works well as intended but keeps logging off from our phone and we have to turn off the phone and on again to be able to login again. Not sure why they didn’t fix this annoying problem already.
It 3 notifications that I can’t find anywhere in the app. It will say it’s connected to my garage open one minute and not the next. The Siri voice command works for my husband, but gives me an error even though we have the exact same set up. I would not have anything to do with this app if it was not the only way to get into my neighborhood. This is one frustration I could live without!!!
PLEASE make an option for CarPlay. It would greatly ease the hassle of using this app in my apartment complex if we could easily open the gate with my car rather than fumbling for my phone. Additionally the iPhone widget does not work/ will not connect (always says offline) if this could be fixed it would also increase usability.
Our neighborhood uses this app for our gated community. It’s been down for two weeks! Their notifications say that my access has been revoked and to contact our property management. In doing so, we are told we have not been revoked but MyQ is the one having the problem. Again, it’s been down two weeks. My outdoor contractor has no way to enter unless I am available. Sad!
Has great potential. Control Center widget can be added, but has no option to open any doors in the community. Same goes for Shortcuts - since they apparently decided no CarPlay app will be offered, why not expose the doors available to users via Shortcuts? Instead, Shortcuts has actions but cannot trigger specific doors. This app tends to be more frustrating than useful, especially while driving into my property.
1 out of 4 times when I need to use the application it will not open. I contacted the system local technician and he told me to delete the app, reinstall or update my IOS version and then try again. That worked the first few times but now not even that works, it’s so frustrating. They charged a monthly payment for something that I can only use randomly when it works.
After the latest update I can no longer use Siri voice commands to open my gate while I’m using car play. I’m directed to try again when not driving, which forces me to get my phone out of my pocket unlock it open the app and then open the gate. Which seems more dangerous than using a voice a command. Hope this is addressed in the next update.
As it should be for remote only operations. However the app constantly displays errors about both being disabled. The error is modal and interferes with user pushing buttons open areas remotely. These errors and repeating messages that welcome to the new app actually interfere with normal operation. Simple bugs that never get fixed usually demonstrate lack of ongoing maintenance and development.
After installing this app i received multiple calls for random junk, they are selling your data here and when you attempt to delete account it forced you to go through a very large process on their website, even though App Store policy should require them to have delete account directly in App.
I absolutely hate paying for a monthly subscription to open my own gate. It’s expensive, confusing, and unreliable. Find something else to open and close your gate before choosing Liftmaster or they will be in your pocket forever too. I didn’t give 2 stars, my thumb slipped, so I thought I’d leave it out of courtesy
When it works, it works fine. But it’s irritating AF that it keeps logging me out. The first couple of times, I wrote it off to maybe an update or something, but It’s getting old really fast.
Please fix the app. It doesn’t have the unlock button on the screen anymore
The new feature for pushing to open is way worse then the old swipe feature
More frequently app does not respond after pushing button to UNLOCK
