Had some difficulty getting opener to connect to wi fi. After several attempts still no luck. Gave up frustrated and decided it wasn’t worth the effort. Months later I decided to try to connect again and still no luck. Now I have decided I’m going to figure this out one way or another. Folks, I’m not tech savvy if you haven’t already figured that out and I normally don’t accept defeat and call customer support. This time would be no different. I read all the directions instead and discovered I needed a wi fi extender because of the distance from my router to the opener. Purchased the wi fi extender for about $30 and installed it between my router and opener and followed instructions from there and was able to connect up and it works exactly as advertised. My garage is detached from my house so I it is very convenient at times to go to my phone which is always on me to open or close door instead of manually going over to push control button or carrying around a separate remote. It works well and is convenient. Also the backup battery helped when we lost power a while back. I highly recommend this product for residential use.
The MyQ smart system is very helpful because I only have the two keychain remotes that came with Chamberlin’s kit. I had no physical switch outside the garage door to open it and I have no doorway access from inside the house. That meant some unneeded exercise if I forgot to hit the remote inside my house (the other one of course, is in the car). I would have to climb back up two flights to hit the button. So it’s handy as an additional remote by using the MyQ app on my phone. But I found out the hard way that the app sometimes freezes once it leaves your home wifi and before it picks up your cell network. In one case, I was riding in my wife’s car and when we drove away, the app indicated that the garage door was open. However, the app was frozen and I couldn’t close the garage from 3 blocks away (and even the physical remote wouldn’t have worked that far away). We had to circle back(and it turned out the door was open). I got out and hit the button inside the garage. When I got back in the car I looked at the app. It was working again since my phone was picking up my home WiFi. This is something that needs to be addressed in a future software update. The app will be useless if it only operates in the same proximity as a push button remote. I do appreciate that it indicated that the door was open so I could return to close it. But, I shouldn’t have had to do that, right?
First, I really like the app. It needs, no it’s crying out for CarPlay support. Michigan pasted a law forbidding drivers from interacting with their phone while operating a vehicle. So I can’t use the app until I am in my driveway. I am forced to continue to have my garage door opener within reach. It’s a small thing, but if MyQ was on CarPlay, I would be over the moon. I could easily start the door going from the stop sign near my house and simply drove right into my garage. Again, it’s a very small thing, but it’s the small things that surprise and delight. This app is great. I use it every morning and never have an issue. They did a change that required pushing the button twice and that was awful. The changed back to a single push in less than a week. To me missteps happen in development. Engineers in an office think of so many great ideas that don’t pan out in practice. The measure of a great engineer is the ability to assess and act quickly. The support site is pretty good, but the chat bot is frustratingly awful. I had to give up after trying to ask my question twice. I strongly urge the leadership to demand metrics on how many chat bot users bounce out of the system without going to an article or proceeding to a live agent. I suspect the bot team is claiming any interaction that doesn’t escalate to a live agent as a successful interaction. I suspect the truth is that a lot of people simply leave out of frustration. This would be a case of survivors bias. That chat bot should not be up and running in its current state. It’s really bad.
More like 4-1/2 stars. The app is very good, and has a surprisingly good and clean user interface, and UI/UX design is a difficult area of computer science that combines science with art that most companies have a very difficult time getting right, so kudos to the developers. It just works too, and I’ve had no issues with the app. However, I did have issues getting my outside keypad to stay connected to wi-fi. That’s not the fault of the app, of course, but a slight improvement to the app could make fixing wi-fi issues easier: Add to the app the information on the IP address and/or MAC address of each Liftmaster/Chamberlain device that’s been added. At the moment, for some devices my mesh router is not showing the names of the devices, but only what the name of the manufacturer of the device’s internal wi-fi card, and that is true for some of the MyQ devices. My outside keypad needs to be locked to the mesh access point that I’ve added in the garage, and it would be useful to do the same for the Liftmaster opener as well, but I haven’t been able to figure out what device on my mesh network is the opener. Being able to see the IP address or MAC address would fix that problem, and should be a *really* easy update to the app.
1.Faster Loading Time: Reduce the time the MYQ logo stays on the screen when opening the app to provide a quicker and more seamless user experience. 2.Improved Microphone and Camera Functionality: The current microphone setup when using the cameras is inconvenient. Having to hold down the microphone button to talk makes it difficult to communicate effectively. You can’t hear the other person while holding the button, and there’s a frustrating 4-second delay before the other person can hear you. A much-needed improvement would be a one-tap microphone activation that stays open while you speak, allowing for real-time, two-way communication. Additionally, the overall performance of the camera feed could be enhanced to reduce lag and improve audio-video synchronization for a smoother experience. 3.Bring Back HomeKit Support: Restore compatibility with HomeKit to allow seamless integration with other smart home devices and systems. This would make the app far more versatile for users with interconnected smart home setups. 4.Remove Ads: Ads disrupt the user experience and give the app a less professional feel. Eliminating them would make the app more enjoyable and efficient for users.

My father has had this Garage Door Opener for about 6 years. I never knew that it had Wi-Fi capabilities so I finally gave it a try. He lost the manual, but I managed to find it online. I follow the instructions and connected my phone and also connected the garage door opener to the house Wi-Fi. Once the app was installed, and I followed through on the registration process, I was able to open and close the garage door from my phone! But the best part of this is that I am able to open and close the garage door anywhere I have cell phone coverage! As a bonus, the app also lets me know when the garage door has been open and close, while also keeping a complete record of all the actions the Door has done. This is great for me because my folks are elderly, and I can know when they’ve access the garage door. Offers the ability to have your garage door automatically closed if it’s been open too long at a particular time of the day, which is great in my eyes, because there can be times when you forget to close your garage door at night time. It’s a great system that I highly recommend.
First, never buy a Chamberlain or Liftmaster product just to avoid the app. We installed the app and linked the garage door opener. But then the remotes for the garage stopped being able to close the garage door. Instead of dealing with the customer service, which couldn’t help me, the app added a functionality to see if the door garage door was working right and it would tell me it was even though the app would stop working and the garage doors would stop working with the remote. Fast forward several years and myQ made me delete my old account when I lost access to my old email and made me install a new account for my new email. Now the garage door opener won’t be associated with the new account because it lost the ability to connect to Wi-Fi. The MyQ app customer service support says the logic board is broken in the unit. Customer service for the logic board says that it is a problem with the MyQ app. Both blame the other. Both drop calls to me. This is customer service sludge, pure and simple. They have a bad product. They have a bad app. Do not buy. Do not download.
I read all of the negative reviews on this MyQ wifi sensor and garage door opener. I set up a mesh network to assure excellent connectivity. I set up a motion sensor activated camera in my garage to verify proper operation. I installed the sensor top center of my garage door. I installed the wifi sensor/operator within the required range of my garage door opener and followed the set up requirements step by step. I do not use this with a whole house network as that takes another step and monthly payments for some company to make my phone have one less app (lame). Since install I have had zero issues. We have lost power and had several brown outs during a couple of tropical storms with no issue. My son is 10 and the last to leave in the morning, so I had to set something up to assure that my garage door was closed after the little dude rolled out to school. It turns out that he always remembers to close the garage door, but my 14 year old daughter....not so much. Buy this thing and remember, without suitable wifi and correct instillation, it is your fault that this doesn’t work.
Overall it’s a great app and does what it’s supposed to, but there are some things that need to be addressed. I’ll only focus on my major gripe. When I set a schedule for the garage door to close at a certain time, like, let’s say 9pm. The door needs to be fully open (in the app’s technical terms, for it to work) not “stopped”. Anyone in the warmer parts of the country will understand that we vent (opening the garage door about 6” to get the cooler air in) the garage door, and doing so requires you to stop it at a certain height. The problem is, the app sees it as a “stop”, and will not close it at your set time, because it’s not fully “open”. The programmers need to fix this so no matter what, it closes the door at your set time. Life gets in the way and sometimes we forget that it’s open. I don’t want to worry about forgetting to close it, no matter what. You set a close time, close the door! Don’t care if it’s all the way open, half open, or any other mathematical equation. Just set it, and walk away.
This has been a great app and we use it to manage 4 doors. Recently they changed a feature that was really valuable and made it almost useless. We used to be able to get a warning when our garage door was open too long in case someone forgot to close it. This save us from frozen pipes, stolen goods etc. they changed it to now tel. You when the door has been closed for the same amount. These two are tied together and you can’t turn one off without disabling the other. The door open warning is useful and only triggered a few times a year. The door closed warning triggers every time you close the door which is several times a day and is a normal thing to do. I already have notifications when the door opens and closes. Being told the door is closed for 15 minutes is useless and scared us into thinking something is wrong. It also occurs do often we miss the real warning which is the door open too long. Please either separate the two warnings or remove the door closed warning. Why do I need to know the door has been closed for 15 minutes if I know it closed
I really like it since I live in a town home and the neighbors garage is under no bedroom and so it sometimes makes it hard to decipher whose garage it is so it gives me the ease of mind that it’s not my house and I have been able to open it from work one day when someone was dropping stuff off at the house and that was awesome! I love that it was a timer and everything, there have been a few times now that forever reason it had to think about whether or not there was an internet connection with it and it couldn’t connect so I had to unplug it and reply it back I and that worked, I also reset my one garage opener for my parents house for it to do my house and their house and so now I have that as a back up, next I just need to find something similar for the front door lock with being that I like to go on walks and my car doesn’t take a key I don’t always think about my keys and I’m soon going to be a first time mom and I’m sure there will be many times that I run out the garage to walk the baby and it will be super nice to not have to worry about anything other then my phone, definitely would recommend it!
As a senior citizen nearing retirement it is crucial that my devices be easy to set-up and use… the MyQ technology was easy to setup. I love being able to open and close the garage door with the app on my phone. I don’t have to worry about carrying keys or a remote when I go out for my morning run…Yeah, it’s more of a walk but I do run occasionally. The My Q smart door opener is especially handy when I go out to garden. I live in a rural area and the garden is a not within sight of the house. I need to close the door when I exit the garage with my gardening tools and wagon. With My Q I no longer have to grab the remote or fumble with an outdoor keypad. As I head back toward home, I can easily open the door with my phone and enter the garage more quickly. My Q is also great when riding to events with my friends. I no longer have to fumble with the keypad at night when viability is low. I can get packages delivered into my garage even when I am out of state visiting my daughter. Definitely one of my best purchases!
I love the ability to see when the door opens/shuts and if we forget our keys when we run to the pool or if we want to walk neighborhood; we can just walk off and shut it with Apple Watch or iPhone and if a neighbor calls and says our garage is open we can shut it from anywhere as well as away from the home. I don’t have to go to the garage to manually/shut. We have been able to also share the app/set up codes for guests and contractors doing work who only need short time or one time access to the home/garage. Definitely a plus when wanting to track who is coming and going. Cameras are great for this as well but we like that we actually get the notification that the garage itself was accessed so then we know if we aren’t/we’re not expecting someone we can verify via the cameras we have installed. Would be great for elderly who live alone for their caretakers and family to help ensure they are safe24 hours or know when they come and go to ensure it’s them and not strangers or danger occurring.
We have 2 garage door openers and a gate opener. When we first installed these about 6 months ago I was just looking for reliable equipment and thought the remote control through the AP feature was a joke. I was thinking “come on, does your garage opener really need to be hooked up to the internet “. What will they think of next - a toilet you can flush from a 1,000 miles away. Well, was I wrong. About a month after installing this equipment I decided to get the AP going. It turns out to be a very useful feature. We travel a lot and for the last 3 months we have been doing a lot of remodeling at that house. I can’t tell you how many times I have opened the gate and garage doors for workmen from 300 miles away. Every night I can check to see if everything has been closed and locked up. The AP also alerts me if I forget to close the gate or garage doors at night. A really nice safety feature. Bottom line is that it works reliably and has turned out to be one of the most useful pieces of home automation that we have.
I’ve been using this app for many years now. It has always been very good. However, as technology has advanced, I have noticed that it now does not work with the Wink smart home hub as it did in the past. I could program the garage doors to close (not just in a schedule, as is possible on the MyQ app) on an event related basis (if/then). So if someone left the garage door open for longer than 15 minutes (or a time of my choice), Wink would order the MyQ app to close that door. Or if the garage door opened, I had it programmed to turn on specific house lights. That’s all gone now. Not sure why. I’m also not sure why they have tech for opening the door from a Tesla, or a small handful of other car manufacturers, but they don’t have compatibility with Apple CarPlay - one of the largest formats found in many car makes and aftermarket installations. These are big shortcomings. I’m hoping they will make this a better product, since they’ve already proven through past availability that it can be done.
I appreciate that I can quickly open and close my garage door with this app. It also gives me peace of mind to be able to double-check that I closed the garage door. However, a key piece of functionality that this app is missing is the ability to set recurring alerts when the door is left open. Ideally, I would like to be able to set an interval - for example, “Alert me if my garage door has been open for more than 10 minutes, and then alert me again every five minutes it continues to be open.” However, I would like to be able to snooze / acknowledge these alerts if I am working in my garage. For example, maybe have a dialog that opens and says, “Your garage has been open for 10 minutes. Do you want to snooze this alert for 30 minutes, or do you want to close your garage door?” This would allow me to feel more secure in knowing that I have not accidentally missed an alert, while also giving me a level of control over the alerts so that they do not get annoying.
As mentioned in above, notifications used to work, but they don’t work like they used to. For example, I have 2 notifications set up, 1 to alert me if my garage door has been opened for an hour, the other is to alert me if it has been opened for 2 hrs. So if I open the door at 8am, and close the door at 8:30am and reopen the door at 8:45am and leave it open. I would get an alert at 9am saying my garage door has been opened for an hour even though I’m reality it only has been opened for 15mins. And if my garage door is still open at 10am, I would get the alert that my door has been opened for 2 hours at 10am, I should only get the alert at 10:45am. They somehow removed the logic to reset the timer when there is a close for these alerts. The closing at 8:30am should reset the timer to 0, but it doesn’t anymore, it would mistakenly always use the 8am as the start time and ignore any closes to reset the timer. Please fix this.
I originally gave this app 4 stars but I’m down grading to 1 star since the app works maybe 25% of the time. I keep getting close error and according to the instructions, I’m supposed to hit the manual close to reset the system. OK, that worked the first time when my cleaning staff arrived. But then it happened again after they left. I’ve had this situation 3 times since it was installed 3 weeks ago. I ended up leaving the garage door open all night last night. The app said it was open but I had a close error when I tried to close it. Also had no confidence in the app since my cleaning staff confirmed they closed the door. I Figured the app was wrong and since I couldn’t open and close due to the error I left it alone. I still think something went wrong and the door opened on it’s own since the cleaning staff were adamant they closed the door. At this point, I have no confidence in the system and am seriously considering removing it altogether. Causing more pain than help.
Very responsive! Will surely recommend to prospective buyers who want to monitor if they have left their garages open or close. Likewise for others who want to give temporary access to their garages.
The unit stop communication all of a sudden and can’t get it back
Love the app but it would be awesome if you had a slider that would open the door in percentage increments of 5%. That would get it to 5 stars.
Depuis le 8 juillet 2025, il y a le chiffre 1 en rouge sur l’icône de l’application. Tout fonctionne normalement. J’ai regardé dans l’application et le chiffre est toujours affiché. Merci Gérard
Why isn’t this app compatible with Apple car play? I should be able to have this on the screen in my car, rather than opening my phone to then open my garage.
The app was fine until a recent update that remove the option of viewing schedule you already created for closing the garage door Now all it does is ask to create a new schedule, but if the days and times are they same it gives an error message that there is a conflict. However, I cannot see the schedule to modify or delete.
MyQ Garage & Access Control Negative Reviews and Ratings
I just did a review on this and it closed on me and does not look like I submitted anything. I never got to the submit button. I will try to make the shorter too many times I will sit in my driveway and tell my garage door to close And it does and I'll wait till I get the tone I will leave and come back open up the app select the open and it shows arrows going down still eventually it will go back to no arrows and then open With the arrows. This is very annoying other times I will come back and it works just fine. But way too often it does not sometimes I actually have to close the app. Then open it and that constant arrow goes away and will allow me to Open my garage door. I don't know if there's any updates. I'm missing. I do not see anywhere in the menu as an option to look for new updates. Also, the app has no link to provide feedback which I would've been more than glad to do instead of leaving this negative review. I've had Chamberlain garage openers for over 25 years only in the last two years that I have to replace both of them. My first set did not have an app. So I was looking forward to this. I don't know if there's a third-party app that can do the same thing that works better or not, but I'm gonna start looking. I also found a cumbersome to try to get my car programmed to the new chamberlain I had no issues with the older models. My recommendation. Is try to program your car if you can it's not smart to leave a Remote in the car. And if you have more patience than me then use the application. I'm just disappointed.
So the app has worked very well as an opener and closer for my garage door. My issue is with the camera. I bought the camera and added it to my system and the interface is solid. I like that I can pull up the camera at any moment and use it to communicate as it has a microphone and a speaker. I have subscribed for one full year of storage on video data. My issue lies with the fact that the sensitivity, while adjustable, is wholly insufficient. I am currently on the lowest sensitivity setting and as the clouds change and the camera goes from low light mode to non-low light mode, every time the camera adjusts it’s built-in filters it triggers a notification. Every time a car drives by outside casting a shadow through the exterior glass panes of my garage door, it triggers a notification. Clouds go by? Notification. Bug flying in front of the camera? Notification. I tinted my garage windows in an effort to reduce the sensitivity that triggers the app. We can consider those as hours wasted. It is routine that I get over 200 notifications a day from the myQ app. Turning off notifications seems to be the exact opposite thing you want to do when it comes to a home security app but I’m forced to just to get my phone to stop chiming in vibrating every 35 seconds. All. Day. Long. Other home security and camera apps program monitoring areas that do not have this issue and I can tell you that until you can program a monitoring area from this camera or this app, I would not recommend it.
My initial installation worked just fine so I know I have everything set up correctly. However, after I changed my wifi password and tried to update my app to the new password, it would never connect. I expected the app to find my wifi signals because I have 4 strong signals. In fact, there are dozens of wifi signals in my neighborhood, and none of them were visible in this application, except the My Q wifi signal, during the connect phase of the installation process. 19 Feb 20 update: I have discovered that whenever you change your wifi password, you must use the Black Adjustment Button on the motor housing to erase your wifi network and start over as if it is a brand new installation. In other words, once you connect to a wifi network for the first time, you will never see any other wifi networks in the app. The application should include a note with this key piece of information for people who routinely change their wifi passwords for security reasons. It probably also applies if they upgrade their routers. The instruction manual should also be updated to inform customers that you must erase your wifi network from the garage door opener and start over if you change your password or router. I thought you could just enter ‘learn’ mode, re-select your wifi network and update the password. You can’t.
We bought a LiftMaster powered by myQ recently and the wifi camera works great if I'm close to it. However, when I am anyplace other than home, it only works only about 5% of the time. That said, my Ring cameras work during those times, which indicates the wifi at home is good to go. We have worked for approximately 7 hours over the past week with our garage door installer and with myQ technical support and they could not figure it out. So the installer put in a new myQ camera in the garage door head unit (which was recommended by myQ customer service) and the same issue persisted. Then the installer replaced the entire garage door opener with another new unit. The problem persisted. It should be noted that during all of our efforts the myQ app crashed several times, causing us to start processes over again and again. The myQ customer service person was very nice but slow to respond during phone conversations and I believe she had a person translating our conversation, which made communications extremely difficult. The other functions on the app work great as I can open and close the garage from most places, just can't get that camera to work as expected and advertised. We also tried multiple phones. For a little credibility, I have a computer science degree. MyQ, if you are reading this, please find a solution as I know others using this app will encounter the same frustrations.
Don’t need to be fiddling with an app when trying to get on the road. Randomly just forced me to re-sign in on my way out, and it took a while because I make all of my passwords randomized due to security reasons. It should not be asking me to sign in again for any reason when I’m trying to get back in or leave. It takes two taps to open or close the garage door after opening the app. Wish there was an option to press it once, or toggle that option. Would also be nice to have a widget or option for quick access bar on iOS. Lastly, I see no option to turn off the obnoxiously loud beeping noise it makes when it’s closing. There was one instance where the app just completely got stuck in an unresponsive loop where it wouldn’t respond to anything, door opening, etc. There also isn’t an option to set the garage door to close after a certain amount of time has passed when using the app to open. So if I come home, use the app in my car to open the door, I can’t tell it to automatically close after 2 mins. I never tested to see if it will eventually close, but I see no option to adjust or turn on that feature at all. Beyond that, the app is a useful way of remotely opening and closing the door. It’s just missing a surprising number of basic features that would make this a true smart app.
This app is convenient to use to control my garage doors. However, they are missing a critical design element. I have settings each night to close both doors at a certain time. This is where the problem comes in. If something happens to prevent a door from closing, there is no way to make it notify you. I searched Google for a solution (others have this same beef) and have tried different options, but none of them work. So I can get notified if my door is open for a certain amount of time, but not that my automatic action failed? There are 4 kids in my house who are outside a lot, but instead of this automatic feature being a convenience, I have to check every night to see whether the close worked, or close it myself. It’s almost worse to have something that works 85% of the time, unless a bike doesn’t get pushed in all the way, or a ball rolls in the way, and I’m not perfect, so over the course of 3 years there have been several nights where a garage door has been left open all night when I did not realize it. If they had this one basic feature, I would rate the app five stars, because I do like the ability to open and close my doors from my phone or to check that they’re open or closed at any time. Those are the nice parts of it. But the lack of failure notification sets it back a lot.
4 stars for iPhone app, but 2 stars because of the the Watch app because that’s my primary use case. The iPhone app is great! Works exactly as I need it to. Many useful features. However, I’m very disappointed in the reliability of the Watch app. It needs to reauthenticate you by having you open your iPhone app extremely too often. I have a cellular Apple Watch that I wear to go out running, and I hope when I get back I can open the door. Sadly, I can’t rely on this app for that. The Watch app constantly tells me to open the iPhone app to reauthenticate at least once every day. It’s extremely unreliable. I’m constantly having to go get my phone to let it reauthenticate my watch login. The developers really need to handle this differently. Why even have a watch app if it won’t work independently of the iPhone? Absurd and frustrating! However, the IPhone app works great when you need to open the garage door when you don’t have a remote with you. I often go outside then need something unexpected from the garage and use the app. It’s also great when you want to sit out on the porch but get locked out because someone accidentally locked the door. (But I remind everyone that if the WiFi goes out, your garage door won’t be online to connect with the app, even if the opener had the battery backup installed.)
I’ve been using this app for two years. The good reviewers apparently have not. This app has three jobs. To alert you of door status, to allow remote operation of doors, to allow you to view live footage of connected cameras. The door status works fine (one of my two stars). The cameras don’t stay connected and when they are, they rarely provide live video despite being 20’ from mesh Wi-Fi, which run my entire 2000 square foot garage and offices. When I try to use the open/close feature, the app takes forever to load sometimes. Whether I use cell service or Wi-Fi, I have to force close the app to even get it to give me the option to open or close. Sometimes it hangs so long that I actually get out of the vehicle to push the button on the wall and get back in before the app has even loaded. Finally, it is not compatible with Alexa or any security system. I have $20 led lights that are Alexa controlled, but this app can’t do it… go figure. My work around for the lack of security system connectivity is a pair of $30 plastic sensor holders mounted to each door. They are gravity operated and tell my system when the doors are opened. For an app that’s trying to tempt me into paying a monthly subscription, it’s fails miserably. I’ll stick to my (other brand) aftermarket cameras, security system, and archaic push button door opener.
Upon opening the app 3 out of 4 times the app will “freeze” meaning it just shows the circle continuing to circle which doesn’t allow me to open or close the garage door. I’ve tried turning off WiFi to my phone. It doesn’t help. The only thing I can do is force close the app, wait a minute and then open it again. Then usually I’ll be able to open or close. It’s frustrating trying to leave the house and I have to wait in the driveway for several minutes before I can get the app to work. Or when I’m trying to get home and park in the garage I’ll have to wait several minutes to be able to pull in the garage. I have strong WiFi connection to the unit and WiFi extenders. It’s just not a very reliable app unfortunately and the result is many minutes of waiting, closing the app, reopening the app to get it to work. Please fix this continuous circle cycle that freezes control of the garage door opener!! It makes me want to just get the clicker back at and use it exclusively. Although those make home access less secure. Please fix! They also say you can open and close your garage door with the Google Assistant. This is false. While you can ask google if your door is open or closed, you cannot actually open or close it with the google assistant. So MyQ advertises this feature when paired with google assistant but it is 100% false and should be removed or reworded on their app to tell you the truth about how it is limited in how it can function with the google assistant. I’m moving soon and the new build will not have a chamberlain or liftmaster opener due to all of these problems.
I’ve use myQ on Apple Watch since it was first released nearly a decade ago. I get a new phone and watch yearly with Apple’s iPhone upgrade program…so it’s not the hardware. Please figure out how to persist credentials so that myQ on Apple Watch remains functional until I choose to un-configure that feature. Until then it’s untrustworthy and theres not even notification that it has un-configured itself, until you’re locked out of the garage. As a result I still have to carry a physical key since myQ remains not smart enough. We pay a premium for myQ hardware and services to work. I’d rather not research Ratgdo and other competitive alternatives. Every time I see “please login to myQ on your iPhone to continue” in the watchOS app, and my iPhone is locked inside the house, I necessarily want to move to a door opening solution that is more reliable or cheaper, and more transparent. Please remove ads from the app. I already bought your product(s). I want to like you and buy more, but when you make product ads more prominent than functionality, I don’t want to buy from you anymore. Opening/closing my doors mustn’t require one to not accidentally click on ads within the app. Keep in mind there are also kids and senior citizens with limited abilities that are also already your customers, and want to use your app without being tricked into ads.
Had this app and opener for 5+years. I have great WiFi mesh signal at my opener and hub. WiFi signal in the driveway is excellent. I still find the app sometimes unreliable, spinning ineffectually and hung at either the login or device page, even with good phone WiFi connection, sometimes but not always cleared by app kill/restart. Seems possibly related to closing the app during door operation? Sometimes one phone won’t work, but another will. After a recent power outage, door showed Unknown status on device page, and it could not be cleared in app even by restart. Hitting the wall button reset everything, but this is not always convenient or possible. App has gotten better over time, but still flaky - so far always cleared by operating the door with another means, but annoying. I would definitely recommend against relying on it as sole means of entry. Wish it had more capability, e.g. remote control of keypad codes, lockout/disable, “away” functions, but since the controller hardware appears relatively primitive, probably not possible. This space is ripe for disruption by someone making a truly smart door controller system. Update - not much has changed, the app is better but sometimes still flakes out, even with a solid Wi-Fi connection, it often seems to get in some kind of weird state with a spinning wait. The Apple Watch app is flaky also, it gets into a state showing “loading devices” and spinning wheel that never resolves (yes, phone is present and connected to the watch), only way to clear is to reinstall on the watch. Wish it was more reliable. UPDATE: phone and watch apps are much more reliable and consistent, with only occasional failure. But PLEASE stop with the ads on the home tab.
I installed the my q opener two years ago with my approved chamberlain motor. It has not worked one day since. I have spent 10 hours on hold or the phone with customer support on a half a dozen different occasions. They do nothing. They ask me to reset it over and over and it never works. The most recent attempt ended after 70 minutes and the customer service guy promising he would research and call me back or email me new instructions. He did neither. Buyer beware. this is a bad product with terrible customer service. Pick something else. Wyze probably 1/3 the price. That is what I will try next after throwing away almost 200 dollars 10 hours and two years of my life hoping for a simple product to work or one of six customer service reps to provide any solution or offer a refund/replacement. I truly believe that the first few people I called the first couple months I owned the product when it was still under warranty strung me a long enough and promised me to call me back just long enough that my warranty would expire and they wouldn’t have to actually stand behind their product or provide solutions that would make it work. On a sidenote, as I try to submit this customer complaint, I’m forced to pick a nickname in order to submit. I’ve just tried 10 different nicknames even my real given name and the app denies me the ability to submit. My q does everything they can to not provide customer service. But since I’ve already spent so many years and hours of my life, waiting for this app to work, I’m gonna make up a ridiculous nickname that they cannot deny in order to still submit this complaint.
Update: 27Jan2026 After two weeks the issue was fixed (sort of). My video history now displays for 3 seconds and then disappears from the app. I update to the latest app but it didn’t make a difference. Generally speaking if your into a techie door opener MyQ has the hardware figured out but the software (app & service) is questionable. I’am disenchanted by Chamberlains support. They don’t support email and their “chat” support is only AI. So you’re left with the tedious litany of recorded menus. Once you reach someone they’re the usual front line support that will take you through documented steps, some of which have little to nothing about your problem. 12Jan2026: I’ve had this opener since December. It’s about three ½ weeks old. They insist I pay a subscription to have video history so I purchased the Essential at a cost of $80/year. Unfortunately it has stopped recording. I used chat to troubleshoot. I answered all of the questions correctly but still have the problem. At that point AI said you have to make a phone call. Do they not understand that calling and sitting on hold and eventually getting to real person is substandard these days? I cannot recommend this product after having it for such a short amount of time with a failure, their charging me to save recordings and their “chat” support is deceptive - all you get is idiot AI bot. I can’t reboot the opener on a whim. It’s not like a computer that sits on my desk. It requires a fair amount of work to move cars, get a very tall ladder. IMHO a product of this nature should just work rock solid. And this product does not. Find another manufacturer with more reliable equipment.
I got a Yale deadbolt lock a few years ago because it worked with my myq system to remotely open and close locks. I was able to install it and it functioned fine for a few years but then over the summer 2025, myq did an update and the lock literally disappeared from the list of devices in the app. So I did what anyone would do - try and reconnect it. But every time I would go through the steps and get to the last stage it would say ‘connected’ but then show me a page that it failed and that I need to contact customer support. At which of course I did and had to go through the same nonsense of the process that didn’t work. Of course it didn’t work. They then said they would contact me with a solution and they haven’t. Essentially there is a bug in their system that is not allowing the Yale deadbolt locks to connect. I’ve had So many wasted hours on just trying to connect a lock to an app. And more importantly - this was Something I shouldn’t have had to do a second time anyway because the app kicked the device out on an update without reason. And It’s not like myq stopped supporting the Yale deadbolt. It’s still on their list of devices. Sigh… All in all - I would advise to stay away - bad customer service and buggy tech.
I have a solid wifi network with mesh pods that were literally installed just to improve the signal in my garage. I have two myQ devices, one door opener that has wifi built in and one for door opener wifi adapter. Both sold by chamberlain for their garage doors. My first complaint is that neither device has an Ethernet option, this is ridiculous. Any device that isn’t mobile in nature should have an Ethernet port if it’s going to connect at all. The wifi is nice for people who don’t know how to run a wire or set up a proper network but for those of us that can handle basic networking the Ethernet option is a MUST HAVE V as it eliminates all the wifi problems. My second complaint is that the app has no way to check for a possible firmware update for either device or any way to contact customer service. My third complaint is that the door opener adapter never tries to reconnect to the wifi of it drops connection so if any wifi outage the door opener will NOT reconnect automatically when services are restored, this is just bad programming and should be fixed with a simple firmware upgrade that has a disconnected device try to reconnect every 30 minutes but again, no way to tell if they’ve created a firmware upgrade or not.
This would be an EASY 5 star review *IF* there were an alert function when the garage door is left open. If someone forgets to close the garage door when leaving, the only way to know is to have notifications set for every time the garage door is both opened *and* closed, and to check every time the door is opened to confirm it’s closed, and if the door doesn’t alert closed after it was opened then you know it wasn’t closed. This is a design flaw in my opinion. There should be an option to set an alert to receive a notification after the door has been open for a specific amount of time. I’m dinging the app review down to 3 stars because I think this is a pretty big flaw. I will change my review to 5 stars if the alert issue is corrected. Other than the lack of notification when the garage door is left open, the app is easy to use, installation was a breeze (after realizing the “learn” setting on my Liftmaster required a double tap of the learn button), and I even added a second door sensor so both my bays are covered. Functionality and performance are excellent. Overall I highly recommend this product/app.
This app has two functions — and a disturbing privacy policy. First, the app is absolutely required for setting up the garage hub, and no physical documentation is supplied in the unit package. The installation function proved buggy... It timed out while I was optimally mounting the garage door sensor, yet the app felt installation was complete without yet doing the most essential step of actually interacting with my Liftmaster opener (ie, installation was not complete). I spent the next 30 min in a freezing garage trying to resume the installation — and watching the associated dumb videos — before deleting the device to start over and resetting the device to factory defaults. I only give this app a 2nd star because it eventually worked seamlessly to teach the Liftmaster. The second app function is daily use to control the door where it seems similarly buggy. Opening/closing with the app worked well on Day 1, except that it did not send status notifications as configured. On Day 2, today, my wife successfully opened the garage door using the app from inside the house on her phone with the plan to close the via the app as I left. That failed! Upon trying to close the door, the app reported an error that too many attempts were made and that manual closure was required. Again, no notifications were received. Not very smart or reliable. We await delivery of the necessary Chamberlain bridge to integrate the MyQ into our HomeKit network and maybe regain some privacy. Hopefully, with Siri on my side, I can then say “Goodbye” to this sad, data-sucking app.
Update: I hate this app more than ever. It seems to always say "Offline for 1 day." I wish I had never bought this garage door opener. I have a different brand of automatic gate opener and that works just fine (same basic kind of wireless system.) The problem is with this product. buy a Mighty Mule instead. Had to replace the garage door opener last year. Bought a Liftmaster with this wifi control through MyQ. It set up easy and worked well. Then, had to change our router. The support was awful, finally figured out on my own how to change it the new router. They've updated (changed) the app since then. I again had to change routers (ISP issues) and now the stupid thing won't connect to the new router. The developer changed the app to make it easier (apparently) to change the wifi settings, and it goes through the motions but still fails to register with their server. It does connect to the router, but just gets stuck after that. It is NOT a firewall issue - while trying to set this up I have defaulted the router to factory settings, and ensured it is completely open, nothing blocked, and no password or VPN. (It is a plain-jane Belkin.)This product is just garbage. Update: the very latest app update from yesterday worked. I hope I don't have to change routers again... Update2: So much for that - one day later (a little less actually) it has now not been able to connect to MyQ's server. The garagedoor opener's LED is flashing green, which means that it is connected to the router, but is still trying to connect to their server. It worked for a while, but then stopped. Fail.
Didn’t buy the unit because of the wireless ability, but after the unit was installed I figured the connection would be handy. Installed a router extension device to insure good signal strength. Confirmed wireless signal was good, with both my iPhone as well as an Alexa unit; both indicate strong signal. So I follow the menu instructions, get the garage door opener connected to the wireless and everything looks fine. Open the garage door from the smart phone app and thought, yeah this is pretty cool. Then suddenly the signal on the app shows no connection to the wireless and the garage door no longer responds. I repeat the install procedure several more times, each time with the same result;the wireless will stay connected for maybe up to one minute and then disconnects. So I call the garage door company that installed the LiftMaster unit and they have a technician come out. After he tries and gets the same result several times he tells me that, “the wireless devices in these openers really aren’t very good, the technology is way behind the times, and you’re just not gonna be able to use the wireless feature”. End of story. WTH?? I needed a garage door opener capability for my H-D bike, so spent another 40 bucks and bought a small profile remote opener. While I don’t really absolutely need this MyQ feature, it still pisses me off that it doesn’t work.
I have used the myQ app for years and it was at least able to be integrated via third party apps so that it had some “smart” features such as geofencing and voice control via Alexa. In the last year or so, it seems the ability has been completely removed and that is a lot of steps backward influencing my perception of any chamberlain or myQ value. As a digital remote, sure it works fine if you want to get your phone out, touch or Face ID to open it, then touch or Face ID to open the app. A traditional remote is obviously far less trouble and faster but runs the security risk if stolen. It begs the question, why does chamberlain hold back the progress and convenience of connecting to Alexa that could add so much more value. I’d rather not have to set up ‘scenes’ and commands in a third party app which for some people is technologically challenging. It’s time to move on and add these smart features in the app. Personally, I find the regression of chamberlain product capabilities in favor of hoarding features into a subscription service deplorable and deceptive for those of us that purchased these products based on those capabilities then to have them taken away is nothing more than an amature and pathetic management decision. Stay away from chamberlain products.
We have a detached garage. I don’t want to have to remember to shut the garage door after opening the door (from the car), then getting into the house and forgetting to shut the garage door. I don’t want to have to set up multiple scheduled closes (which I have set up every hour or so throughout the day as a workaround) in order to automatically close the garage door in case we forget. The problem with the workaround is every once in a while I end up driving into the garage only seconds before it is scheduled to close and I have to rest quickly and/or reopen it to exit the garage. This is dumb that the app allows scheduled closes but not a delayed close (like 15 minutes after opening) option. I want to be able to unload the groceries from the car, say, (which takes me 10 minutes at most) and then deal with putting the groceries away that need to be dealt with quickly. For the life of me, I can’t imagine that it’s a safety issue for the app when you allow for multiple scheduled closes!? I want a solution for this issue. This should be a simple software fix. Give me that and I’ll give you 5 stars.
The co-owner and user account access option does not work, and has not worked for several years. I’ve had the My Q adapter (or whatever it’s called) on my 20 year old Lift master machine for probably 3-4 years. The option to create user and co-owner accounts never worked.. not even with customer support trying to trouble shoot it. So, my wife, adult kids who don’t live here, and my parents who don’t live here were all just logged in to my administrator account which I don’t like but had no choice. Now, I upgraded to a brand new machine with integrated My Q and the same problem persists; cannot create co-owner and user accounts. The “invite” never works for them to get logged in. The issue with that is the new machine has a built-in surveillance camera. My parents and adult children who do not live here do not need administrator access to my security camera and account settings. It’s 2025 folks! This type of thing should not be an issue. I don’t have this problem with my Apple One administrator account and the 4 user accounts registered under it. Those all work like they’re supposed to and have for years. Get it together My Q!!!
Until recently, I had been a loyal, satisfied user for many years. I now sincerely regret not only my personal purchases of Chamberlain Group (CG) products, but the literal hundreds of people I have encouraged to purchase. What changed? Recently, CG/MyQ made a willful and intentional decision to block third-party apps. Further, they have taken deliberate steps to limit and/or block API access. This means MyQ no longer works with home automation systems such as Home Assistant, HomeKit, Google Home, etc.. Their intent is obvious, as from a timing perspective, these changes coincide with latest updates that filled their app with ads. Their ability to force ads down our throats in order for us to access equipment in OUR homes, that WE OWN is more important to them than our satisfaction and security. They don’t want us to be able to control OUR EQUIPMENT locally, or threw any app but their own. They want all communications flowing through their cloud servers. They are blocking our ability to open/close our garages from our vehicles (unless we subscribe to their extremely limited services), our Home Management systems, Security systems, etc.. The ONLY WAY to check the status is to physically go to the garage, or open their ad-filled app. I will be looking for new equipment, made by companies that have more appreciation for customer satisfaction and security, and that offer local control. At that time, I will be permanently deleting the MyQ app, and these greedy corporate pigs won’t get another cent. I DO NOT recommend that ANYONE purchase CG or MyQ products unless and until CG reverses this idiotic decision.
I have used myq to make a phone app tool for my garage door openers for a couple of years. i chose it because it did not require a subscription service. it has never worked reliably. after installing, i got low battery warnings from the sensor. i changed batteries and even used a rock solid bench supply to power the sensors and they NEVER clear the low battery warning. Chamberlain/myq help is 100% useless - all they said was to replace the battery! Internet connectivity is very flakey - if there is any interruption of service, the myq has only about a 50/50 chance at best to reconnect. it requires power cycling to reestablish connectivity. once again, help is 100% useless - they use the same tired script about fixing your wifi. now the myq app on ios does not let you log in - you never get to a point where you can even enter user credentials! you get a text error message saying “resource not allowed”. once again, help is 100% useless, they tell you to check your user name and password! they will not even acknowledge that you NEVER can get to a place to enter credentials. i have tried to speak to someone but either get an unqualified phone jock who only knows how to read a script, get bumped, or get no answer after hold for an hour or more. do not buy or use myq. the product and its quality are dangerously inadequate for relying on it to safely and reliably manage garage door functions. this product and software should be pulled from the market and a total refund given to all customers. Hey chamberlain: you ought to be ashamed of such poor quality, unreliability, and {like to use profanity here} terrible help and customer service
I like having a connected garage door for one very specific reason: to know and control the state of my garage door. The notifications and automations leave so much to be desired for this purpose. For example, can’t separate custom notifications about open and closed states. I want to be reminded that my door remains open after 15 minutes, an hour, and two hours, but this requires me to also get notifications that it is still CLOSED after those time periods. Why would I need this? Getting twice as many notifications as desired just creates alarm fatigue and makes me likely to ignore myQ. I’ve accepted that it doesn’t play nice with my HomeKit or security system, fine, but even if Chamberlain wanted to sell me some of its own sensors then what for? There seems to be no if-then type programming eg IF no motion detected for x minutes, close the door. Schedule is pointless. I don’t use the garage on a schedule. I simply want to make sure it doesn’t stay open to intrusion. Right now I’m not even able to get into my notification settings on the app. I even get stuck in a login loop trying to reconnect it to my Apple Watch.
They want “partners” to pay them for the privilege of letting users control their own hardware. Look up “PaulWieland/ratgdo” if your access to your own hardware was also disabled due to moves by these scoundrels. HomeAssistant is a lot faster and better in every way than MyQ for opening and closing the garage door, but Chamberlain group wants them to pay for them to stop breaking the integration even though they’re an open-source not-for-profit project. Vote with your wallet and don’t do business with these types. Now I have a garage door opener that previously worked well with my the rest of my smart home setup which is now inoperable due to incompetent management at the manufacturer, necessitating an out-of-band control board that simulates pressing the physical opener button instead of, you know, utilizing the existing onboard wifi microcontroller that used to work perfectly well with this. Lastly, I don’t understand what they’re thinking with this policy, as they’re not going to get a dime out of open-source projects, so really they’re just hurting their own reputation and users with zero potential upside / additional revenue. I hope their management reads this and changes course on this user-hostile policy.
I got this to replace an outside keypad figuring a 21st century upgrade was in order. I have been disappointed because despite having very powerful signal in my garage from a wireless range extender that allows me to stream movies and do zoom conference calls by video in the garage, this device, and/or the app tells me it is off-line about 20 or 30% of the time. If you tried to rely on this as your primary garage door opener/controller, you would be screwed and locked out of your garage, because you cannot reset the device to get connectivity without unplugging it and plugging it back in. This device does not appear to constantly scan for the available network. It logs in once and then if it does not detect the Netwerk for a brief period of time it becomes disconnected permanently until you physically intervene. This is completely unacceptable; however, I suppose I should not be surprised at this result, when a historically hardware-producing company ventures into the software and electronics/wireless realm - we see that time and again. There will be a learning curve and Chamberlain needs to get on the steep end of it and make this device-app work reliably. And stop blaming it on wireless signal and router problems.
This opener works, and uniquely it parallels the remote fob/radio control to activate the opener (instead of acting like a hard-wired switch (which means if you battery power it, the remote is an oversized fob). The setup was a little more complex because of the learn process, but you only had to do that once. Unit was sensitive to WiFi distance: moving it slightly closer to the WiFi solved intermittent connectivity issues. Ideally the app would open to just the controller button page; instead the app takes time to boot and then you have to select the control and then the button becomes available. A widget on the shortcut page would be ideal. I’d also like a configuration tool: on door close, the unit delays and broadcasts a warning tone that is unnecessary to me since the door itself is loud and doesn’t move quickly so I have no need for the delay. Buttons on the controller are supposed to open and close the door (and operate light?); they don’t work for me, just as well, because I mounted the controller on the ceiling and can’t reach the buttons anyway. Can the remote operate the light? IDK, that’s a cry for attention in documentation or design.
App does what it's designed to do. Opens and closes doors and provides a visual status when the app is open. Nothing more useful than that. Currently you can send an alert based on time only. ... (I.e. if door is opened or closed for x time send an alert). There is no way to send an alert based on a condition... (when the door is open send an alert every hour...IMO it would be significantly more useful). If you want to be notified every hour the door is open, you need to create one rule for every hour, for each door. (No way to copy rules from one door to another). If you want to be notified every hour the door is opened for the next 8 hours you'll need 8 rules for each door, and have to manually create all 24 rules, One at a time. There is also guest access that allows you to provide a limited number of guest users access to the app. Currently, there is no way to receive an alert if one of the guests opens or closes a door. I don't need an alert every time I open a door, but it would be nice if I were notified that someone with guest access opened the door. Even the history does not indicate how (or who) opened the door. It just indicates "opened."
I just traded cars to new vehicle that does not include the remote to open your garage doors. Fine, I thought I would use MyQ to open the garage doors. I already know that the app doesn’t work with CarPlay, but what I didn’t expect was that Siri would refuse to open the app while I’m in the car. I’m not asking to open the garage door (BTW, it works fine when closing), I just need the app open so that I can open the doors. Lucky for me, it wasn’t raining g and I could enter the house through my front door. But tell me, how does it make sense that it works when closing but not when opening. Why do I have to get off the car for the app to work? One of the reasons I got the WiFi Chamberlain Smart Garage Controls was to avoid having remote controls that can be stolen, or if a person breaks into the car, used to enter my house. Now, at best, I have to spend money in remote controls and make sure I take them off the car. Why do I feel like I’ve been taken for a fool? Until this is fixed I’m done recommending the product (which I used to enthusiastically do) and I’m going to evaluate my non-Chamberlain options.
This app has gotten progressively worse. It is now garbage. As time passes, the app is having more and more issues. There are several times when I am having connectivity issues on the app when my Wi-Fi and phone are perfectly fine. The app becomes non-responsive. There have been times where I’ve had to sign out and sign back in just to get the app to work. There are times where the app opens and I press the button to open or close the garage and nothing happens. The latest that’s happening today is that the app opens but it will not let me sign in. I keep getting error messages. I’ve tried rebooting my phone, deleting the app and reinstalling it, and it is not working. It is absurd that a smart home device that is regularly used by people has so many issues with the app that is the main source of control of the device. When the app does work, I hate opening the app and seeing ads first thing the ads in no way, make me interested in purchasing any more products from this company. Get rid of them. I’m sure I’m not the only one who just wants a simple clean homepage for the app. Between the app, not working and the ads this will very likely be my last purchase from this company.
The app is OK but since it is for a garage/driveway I feel it is lacking two major features. My kids play in my driveway a lot and I also work on my vehicles in the driveway. It would be nice to have a temporary pause with notifications for a selectable period of time in which notifications will then re-enable. Another suggestion is being able to adjust recording times. In the morning when I leave for work I might go out to the car a few times in a period of a few minutes. This causes multiple notifications to pop up on my phone. Or my family might run in and out of the house a few times when preparing to leave somewhere. If I have my phone connected to the vehicles radio to play music, the notifications beep can be quite unsettling. Being able to adjust recording times would alleviate this. I work with control systems on large industrial applications. Having too many alarms or notifications is not good. It causes people to ignore them. Most of the notifications with the app are due to extremely short recording times.
The accessory to make this HomeKit compatible costs way too much and isn’t available in Canada. Apple makes software HomeKit authentication available so there’s no excuse for a separate purchase required. It’s just a money grab from a greedy company. I do not recommend. Also doesn’t have shortcuts capability, or Siri compatibility.
There’s a constant red “1” for a notification on the app icon. Can’t get rid of it. Very annoying
It is not very user friendly. Have yet to be able to use it as I keep getting errors and unable to find answers to these errors. Have emailed and have had no reply. Should really be an actual user manual included either package and not a basic install and function book. We have no idea what it can do and how it operates as there are no complete instructions on you website or with the opener.
Can’t be trusted, killed API access to Home Assistant users. They’ll hold your device hostage even though you own it.
We have this installed for our garage - which we use quite frequently in the day. It’s been frustrating bc it doesn’t always work despite the fact we have extremely strong internet and signals on our phones
Chamberlain has removed the ability for plugins like Homebridge to control the garage door in HomeKit. I will not be recommending any chamberlain products to anyone I know. This changes has actively made my everyday interaction with my garage opener form good to terrible. There is no reason to close the APIs SHAME ON CHAMBERLAIN WILL NOT BE PURCHASING ANY CHAMBERLAIN PRODUCT INCLUDING ALL RELATED BRANDS
Anybody read the terms for an app before downloading it? You better, as this app states you agree to the TOS just by downloading the app. You’re giving up so many of your rights including the right to sue them for any reason, or to join a class action, and to pay out of your own pocket to indemnify them. They also state they can start charging for the app whenever they want. I bought a Liftmaster unit and wanted the features, but they don’t tell you the TOS for this app when you buy. I’m disappointed in Liftmaster and incensed at this developer. I hope giving away your rights is worth using your phone to open the garage.
Since the company has decided to block the home assistant integration that I was using I will no longer use the application and rely on a physical device to control my garage door. I will no longer recommend their products. So long MyQ
Would also be nice to be able to open the door just 5% or some small amount.
Chamberlain has shut down integrations with other systems for their own profit. Worked fine for several years and they pulled the rug. Other solutions available, and this app sucks.
As MyQ has made the decision to block 3rd party integrations I’m no longer using the app or service going forward.
I will be leaving MyQ behind - I am disappointed they changed the ecosystem to block third parties without providing any alternatives. I bought the system because it worked and now I will be going out of my way to leave it and also warning others to avoid it.
Limited third party integrations
The app is so slow to respond to changes from the GDO, switches and lamp modules. A command from the app takes forever to action. I had it up to here with the stupid ads and the clumsy layout.
MyQ is actively working against the home automation community. I bought their hardware, it works for awhile, then it breaks again. Look for other solutions.
It is a must to make this app available on CarPlay. Or you have to meddle with your phone which is not safe. Must be able to keep garage door 1/4, 1/2, 3/4 open from the app. These two are must have features… hope they bring them soon…
Watch app just says “loading devices” and nothing ever loads.
There are now ads in the app, do NOT update, even tho it keeps prompting you to!
Can’t get rid of the notification icon saying there is 1 notification in the app no matter what I do!!!
Nice app, terrible ecosystem. No Shortcuts, no HomeKit, no integration — it’s 2025 and myQ is still stuck in the past. Stop blocking smart home users!
I am not satisfied with this product because my garage door randomly opens. Sometimes I don’t see that it has happened for 30 min or more where the contents of my garage are vulnerable to being stolen.
I often have random trouble with the Apple Watch application. Like no responding at all
App asks to connect to Bluetooth. Then makes me register an account, when I try to register an account I keep getting a server error. So now I can’t connect to the garage in my house because they need me to have an account which doesn’t work.
Re installed app still not logging in, was working fine. Now is pos
App is not very good at networking. If I open the door, I have to kill the app and restart to close it, otherwise the app just “spins” forever. Also, why do I have to unlock the app to log in with my face every time? The only use case for the app is to pull out your phone, use the app, and put your phone away. So you have to unlock the phone with FaceId, then unlock the app with faceID. That’s just dumb. Wouldn’t be so bad if you didn’t have to kill the app between uses. Pretty sad experience overall.
So slow you will never use. It’s faster to get out if your car and open the door.
I used to edit or delete my existing schedules . Now that option is gone
My garage door is shared with Alarm.com. I want to key giving them access, but “My Home” doesn’t include this door as if it is my own. I want to use automatons, and have a shortcut or some kinds of icon on my phone that I can just click to open the door while I’m walking back from taking the dog out. I want to use Siri to open the garage door while walking back with the dog. This is honestly the dumbest “smart” garage door. Is there no way for me to use any smart features without giving up the Alarm.com security aspect?
How can a serious company doesn’t provide integration with a major player in the domotic ecosystem?
Why can’t your app developers see that people are annoyed with the consistent app notification badge.
I wanted an app to open my garage door, not have ads shoved at me
The latest major update to the app has been terrible. Very glitchy and also annoying when the app opens up that the video from the garage door automatically loads connecting to my car like it’s a phone call. There’s an annoying notification on the app icon that I don’t how to get rid of or what’s it’s for.
The latest upgrade completely ruined the app. I no longer see the button to operate. How do I go back to a working version?????
Fix the false notification alert already!
Bombarding your clients with advertising within your app is even more irritating when you will not permit notifications to be read and cleared. Get your act together and fix your app regarding notifications!
For last month or so there has been mis-leading notification sign that cannot be disabled without disabling complete iOS notifications for the app Very annoying
The new update after closing or opening a door constantly has a green ring around it the door button. The only fix for this is to force close the app so that you can open or close the door again.
The door panel generally comes with a timer functionality to close the garage door after 2,5 or 10 minutes. The new door panels have this removed. The App doesn’t have this feature….why is a useful feature taken away in the app? Yes I can check if the garage door is open but there are cases where I forget, and find out my garage door was open for 3 hours. In that 3 hours people could have entered my home in that time or stolen something from the garage. Thoughtless developers and business managers.
Please fix asap
This app refreshes ads faster than I can blink—but the garage door status? Might as well consult a psychic. I don’t know if my door’s open, closed, or on vacation. At least the ads are having a good time. Want smart home integration? Nope!
Since the update there is a red circle notification with the number one displaying on the app icon that will not go away. Restarting the app, or the phone will not get rid of it. Uninstalling the app and reinstalling it only removes the notification until you use the app again. This is basic stuff. Who’s in charge of QA/QC on this app? Very annoying.
Since last update. Also shows adds now…. :-(
The latest update shows me a non stop notification on my app screen yet their isnt one … removing the app to reinstall the app makes it go away until the app is used !!!…. Its very annoying. Fixing bugs ? You created a bug instead. Fix it
Your new update renders this app useless get control of your stupid software
