Awesome App- Well Worth ItFirst, this app is amazing and we ended up telling many we crossed paths with about it. That’s how much we liked it and drew value from the information provided and helped us make the most of our trip. We were given the Big Island & Kauai Revealed books, which are also excellent and I did my due-diligent read to help plan our trip to each Island. When I read about this app, nicely tucked into the About section of the books but not given any high pressure sales push, I decided to investigate. I knew I would become the navigator for my husband and could see potential frustration about missed turns and I didn’t want my nose in a book and missing out on seeing the scenery. Excellent APP!We purchased this APP as an add-on experience to the excellent Big Island Revealed Guidebook. The step-by-step narration is absolutely fantastic! We have enjoyed the Revealed book series, but the narration as we drove from place to place, gave an extra level of support—it’s like the author is right there with you in the car! We even used the APP during the back end of an around the Big Island tour when our guide drove us back to the hotel in the evening and there wasn’t much talking. We used headphones of course, and it was nice to continue to hear background information about the places we were traveling through (even when it was too dark to see everything at the time)—it just gave us motivation to go back during the day later in our trip!.Texas R&BVersion: 1.2

Great app for a great book!My wife and I have been using the “Revealed” books for our trips to Hawaii for years. We usually buy the most current edition each time we go, just to make sure that we’ve got the latest and greatest info. We found out about the app through the newest edition of the Big Island book and decided to give it a try. The app has been great to listen to as we drive throughout the island and we visited a few areas that we probably would not have known about otherwise. We enjoyed Andrew’s sense of humor along the way as well! Totally worth itWe have been fans of the revealed book series so when I saw they had an app I bought it thinking it was the book in an app form. (My bad as I should have read the description). Once I realized what it was I wasn’t planning on using the app, but on our first drive from the hotel to Kona turned it on. We were completely blown away by the detailed information and the narration style. We used on every drive, every day on the island. Even the kids loved it. Totally worth the money spent. One suggestion I would have is to make the points bidirectional, the first time we drove on the saddle road was from Hilo to Kohala and didn’t get to hear about the road till we did the reverse the next day..YumdeeVersion: 1.1

Buckle Up for a Great Trip!!!This app is a must if you are visiting Hawaii! We arrived on the Big Island yesterday and used the Revealed Driving Tour app and it was fantastic! It really felt like we had a personal tour guide in the car with us. At one point, I questioned aloud where to turn to get to the Black Sand Beach and Andrew seemingly responded and said to take the next turn! I loved hearing about the history of the island and suggestions for diversions. We also got to see things we may have driven right past and skipped some places that weren’t worth spending time on. I am already a huge fan of the Revealed guidebooks and the driving tour is another hit. We’re headed to Maui next year, and I look forward to bringing Andrew along. Great appWe just came back from our first trip to Hawaii- a 10 day trip to the Big Island. Several months before our trip I bought the book Big Island Revealed and studied it as my official bible of what to do and where to go. I also downloaded the app a few days before we left. It was an amazing compliment to the book. We turned on our friend every time we got in the car. It was like having our own personal tour guide with us at all times. Using the app totally enhanced our travels around the island and allowed us to make good decisions about timing and where we wanted to go. SO WORTH THE MONEYI balked initially before buying—bit of a steep price tag I thought, almost as much as a guidebook with less content. Boy was I glad I bit. This experience is wayyy BETTER than a guidebook, no looking down or riffling thru pages to find relevant content. The guide has made a career of combing the Hawaiian islands, and these guides are only for Hawai’i. He clearly prides himself in his precision and honesty. Super well-researched and interesting. I was very impressed. Two caveats: 1) the app’s active GPS drained my phone battery quickly, and there is no way to turn it off and just manually tap the points of interest on the map (even while in “browsing mode”). We had to stop along the way to buy a USB charger and have the phone plugged in while driving after less than an hour so it wouldn’t die. 2) there were no points of narration for driving on Saddle Road FROM Hilo to Kona. Only from Kona to Hilo—which made me feel jilted out of half of the content. We manually pressed some of the points along the way (going in the other direction) but it didn’t feel as good..FoodlovingVersion: 1.0

This app is a MUST have!We’ve been traveling to Hawaii for years and always rely on the latest version of Hawaii Revealed and most recently the app. But this time we added the driving tour to our Big Island trip - and it made it the best trip ever! In fact during times when there was no commentary, we would check to make sure the app was working, because we missed hearing all the insight and stories. Made our Hawaiian vacation so much betterThis app is amazing. What a great idea and solid implementation. We have purchased the Revealed guidebooks for every one of our previous trips to the islands. This was our first visit since the drive apps came out and it was a no-brainer for us to purchase. The very first night - we landed at around sunset and had to drive from Kona all the way to our B&B in Hilo. “Andy”, as my wife and I affectionately nicknamed him, kept me awake and engaged the whole drive with his anecdotes and tidbits. After that we were hooked and turned on the app every time we got in the Jeep. We especially loved the gimmick that Andy was in our backseat, just pointing stuff out as we drove along. This app is PACKED. There was way more than we could possibly have seen and done on our 10-day stay. Everything we DID stop for was great - and enhanced by the commentary or tips Andy had given before we got there. Indispensable!We used this driving tour app all around the Big Island and loved it. Lots of interesting information and stories (one in particular gave me goose bumps!), and it tells you exactly where to turn for various diversions. It was great to have Andrew “in the car” and guiding us along the way (my 88 year old mom may even have had a bit of a crush). We used the regular Hawaii Revealed App for preplanning (with its included trip planner) but the driving tour guide was really indispensable during our travels. So both are really essential! A MUST have for any big island tripIf you’re renting car on the big island, this app should be a requirement! The big island is HUGE! There’s so much to see…this app points out things you will otherwise miss! I liked so much about it- - info about places to see/stops to make/things to do -suggestions as to when to fuel up with gas/food if you’re entering a rural area where amenities aren’t easily found. - different info depending upon which direction you travel on the same route…makes return trips more interesting. - how to find hard-to-find beaches - which roads are 4WD only -which sights can be skipped - aren’t really worth your time. - historical/factual anecdotes and stories It’s like having a local islander right in your car. Those “Navigation Stones” don’t miss them !Yes….we have listened to this tour many many times ! Unbelievably interesting!This was our third trip to the Big Island, and it really is BIG. We sometimes are exhausted by the amount of driving needed to experience the entirety of the island but the audio tour was so captivating (and really funny at times), we wouldn’t have minded adding a couple extra hours to our trip. It is fascinating to learn how much you don’t know. I would absolutely recommend this to visitors (and locals!) who are interested in learning while they explore. Overwhelmed by options?I love, love, love this app. Choosing what to do while visiting The Big Island was so overwhelming for me. I was lost in research. With this app, we just started driving and Andy gave us a tour that slowed us to turn off in side trips or not. Terrific!This app is well worth the price especially if you pair it with his guidebook. We loved the tips, advice, and recommendations and appreciated the real-time GPS triggers. As we drove around the island it was like having a personal tour guide but being able to set the itinerary and schedule ourselves. Best driving tour app availableWe have used the Revealed tour books for several trips, but Summer 2023 was the first time we used the driving apps. Excellent tour!Our first ever trip to Hawaii would have been intimidating without this app. We had the guidebook as well, which helped us plan ahead. We spent 5 days at a resort in Waikaloa, which was relaxing and lovely but very expensive. Then we spent 3 nights north of Hilo in the Mahana House B&B, which was the perfect home base for exploring volcanoes, farms, and beaches. We especially loved the history & stories that we would have missed without the app. Next time I will plan using the app & guidebook and skip the resort. Great app with occasional audio issuesWe love the app. The on-the-spot audio makes it feels like we have a personal guide on the drive. Really appreciated the great information about the island. However, sometimes the audio would appeared to be playing but no sound would come out of it, or just cut off in the middle of the narration. Get This!!After reading “Hawaii The Big Island Revealed”pretty much cover to cover, I saw this app advertised in the back of the book. What an absolutely fantastic app! Why? Because it took this multigenerational group on a wonderful explore of the island. Grandparents who like to explore by car; happy. Grandson, who likes to boogie board and snorkel; happy. Grown children who like to eat out; happy. How did that work? Excellent!!!!I bought the book first and used it to plan my trip. Then I got the app on island and we absolutely loved listening to this while driving around the Bog Island!!! Fantastic narration. Interesting stories. Really easy to use. The thing that made it better for us than some other driving tours is that it’s app for the WHOLE island. Some other ones are different tours for the island and I wasn’t sure which tour we should be on. for example if you are driving from Kona north to Waimea and then to Akaka Falls some apps sell different tours for each of those places with some overlap. It was confusing. With this Big Island Revealed app it figures out where we are from anywhere and starts talking at points along the route. Way better than the Shaka app for this. It also doesn’t use cellular while on your. GPS only. Perfect!! There are a couple of things I would LOVE in future editions if possible. An option to listen to Hawaiian music in between stops. Or more stories and facts about Hawai’i. I get some people would not enjoy constant sound or chatter but me and hubby would love that! Lots of times we had the radio on to get some Hawaiian music and then turn it off when this app came to point on the route. It would have been good just to have the app doing some music. Songs on a ukulele like somewhere over the rainbow or bohemian rhapsody would be awesome!!! Absolutely great app. The music part would also mean we would probably buy the app or pay for an upgrade EACH time we came to the island.
