Excellent App for my Bravia TVI recently switched from a Samsung TV to Sony Bravia 9, 85” TV, that was released a couple of months ago. I downloaded this app, not knowing what to expect. It has turned out to be so useful that I hardly ever use the remote that came with the TV. Not only does it serve as a remote for the TV, but it also allows me to change picture and sound settings on the fly. It is very intuitive and gives quick access to my various apps. Sound systemGives options that are not given on any other platform to enable the sound system connected to the television to be ideally enhanced. It made a big difference in our case. We can now hear dialogue functionally along side the other sound effects. Good but UI could be betterI found that installing the rear speakers was not intuitive in the least. You would think add a new device but that didn’t work. But after play around I found that the menu scrolls left and right (not obvious) and there it had an option for setting up the subwoofer and rear speakers. Needs Arrow Buttons and Select ButtonThis app works fine, but it’s very frustrating to only have the scroll pad, and not also have simple arrow buttons and center select, like the actual Sony remote does. The scroll pad can be too sensitive, and I keep scrolling back and forth past what I’m trying to select. And the scroll pad doesn’t always correlate to the functionality of some apps, like not being able to press and hold a select button for a list of options. OK and slowly getting betterThe Bravia Connect app provides some nice functionality but it’s a bit unwieldy to use. The simulated “track pad” is just ok although they did finally add the ability to long press to repeat, which helps a lot. My main issue with the app is that you can’t use it as a virtual keyboard , eg when searching for something in an app it would be great to be able to use your device’s keyboard and copy/paste capabilities instead of the on screen keyboard. When it works, it works wellThe problem is that the app doesn’t connect consistently when it opens. More often than not , I have to turn off my phone and turn it on again for the app to connect. There are supposed to be other fixes (turn off Bluetooth, then back on again), but they don’t work. It’s pretty inconvenient. Other apps connect via WiFi every time (like the Denon and Sonos apps). Great - But Mission ONE Feature 🫩The app is great and responsive as I’d expect it to be. The only feature it’s missing that keeps it from being PERFECT is an on-screen keyboard for typing in items. Much like the Roku app. Being able to navigate to an app or password prompt is quick, but having to go for the remote to use the arrows and tv keypad just seems outdated and inconvenient. Equalization“Download an equalizer in the app” to change the different levels of tones, the more individual tones that a customer can control for their own hearing preference the better. This would be a big selling point and would give more flexibility to the individual as their own preference may be different to mine or yours and may be very important to how they would want to hear it. Install simplicityI was adding a Sony subwoofer to a Soundbar 8. But the instructions were not accurate enough. After calling support the sent me a link which explained the Bravia Connect app and how to get it started. It connected the subwoofer in a jiffy. Bravia Theatre QuadI’ve been using the BRAVIA Theatre Quad with my Sony TV, and the performance is absolutely amazing. The sound is rich, immersive, and perfectly synchronized with the picture. Tv screen optionEither I have hooked this up wrong or there is no volume options or any type of options to show up on the screen. I have a Sony A 8 believe it’s the year 2018 when I bought it so that’s my problem and I cannot change the input because the Sony sound bar blocks, the sensor on the TV. I believe it’s a must for there to be more inputs in the bar so the TV does not become the issue.my biggest problem with this bar is that is not on the screen. That’s a big issue for me. Horrible app and websiteI don’t think I’ve ever given a review on the App Store. But this app is so horrible. I need to give it a review. After buying a $2500 TV you would think it would be the best. I won’t even get into the TV being slow and responding I will talk about the app which I am reviewing here. It does not work! And then going to various Sony websites to try and login it’s nothing but frustrating! So many various platforms and they don’t seem to work well together. And the app won’t let me sign in. Beyond frustratedZero stars if possible. This speaker is a nightmare. It constantly disconnects from the app, requiring me to physically unplug it just about every single day. Because my TV is mounted above the fireplace, I (a 74-year-old woman) have to get a ladder and move a heavy TV just to reset it. I’ve tried resetting the gateway, deleting the app, and re-pairing, but nothing works except physically cutting the power. The remote is also terrible, with no feedback on settings. Connection IssuesIt does everything the physical remote control can do or the tv settings. The only reason I use it is so I can use Bluetooth to listen to music. Terrible ConnectivityI have a Sony Bravia 9 TV. I bought the hoping it would work seemlessly. Sounds great, if you can get it connected and keep it connected. Needs Separate Speaker Control1. If you are having connectivity difficulties - the best fix is to reset bluetooth settings. 2. App needs separate volume control option so you can tailor the sound perfectly by adjusting specific speakers that may be too loud or too low, especially if you have a small space or have to place a speaker nearer or further away because of an obstacle. 3. The app is buggy when using the 17 Pro Max’s microphone (with case removed) for the surround sound setup for Sony Quad speakers. Also, randomly, the app won’t log in or discover the Quads.
