Audio Memos is a voice recorder for the iPhone and iPad. What you'll really like about Audio Memos, is that you can actually HEAR your recordings (try it and compare, you'll hear what we mean). It's also easy to use, with a simple and intuitive interface. Yet with many advanced features as volume boost, volume normalizing, editing of recordings and more. FEATURES
• Send recordings by email.
• High quality recordings up to 44100 Hz. Three levels of quality are available: 11025 Hz, 22050 Hz and 44100 Hz.
• Professionally engineered audio normalizing filter, which enables you to have a constant average volume on all your recordings. This feature does not modify your recordings, so you can turn it on even if you intend to post process your audio files on a computer.
• Wide range volume control using a volume boost. While listening to a recording, volume can be increased using your device's volume keys. If you find this insufficiently loud, you can adjust the volume boost in the application's settings.
• Normalizing and boosting filters use dynamic compression with a non linear function to prevent clipping and minimize distortions. Note however that eventual clipping and distortion created by the microphone are not suppressed. If you care about quality, use the headset's microphone instead of the built in one.
• Records even when your device is in sleep mode; and pauses automatically in the event of an incoming phone call.
• Advanced listing of your recordings, which displays name, date, length and size information. A detailed view is also available for each recording. This view gives extra information such as quality and download status of a recording.
• Must have controls as pause record, pause play, slider, quality control.
• Uses widespread wav format to store recordings, so you can transfer and read them on any device.

...knew this would be useful before I downloaded it...Music composer, artist, writer, programmer...I try to be fairly practical when I download an app. I think many try to make sure not to download a lot of garbage and clutter up their resources. I had a memo taker that could record audio, but it felt like it would not be very robust. It covered just a few the basics, but I knew this would be useful before I downloaded it as along as it delivered on it's promises...and it did. Easy to record on the fly, easy to stop and start, easy to name and catalogue. Song idea comes to mind *boom*, record a quick note *boom*, need to record a conversation or memorable moment *boom*, Foley sound for background noise in a composition *boom*. Didn't need feature-loaded blast-o-2000 that would crash on execution, needed Mr. reliable app with more than the basics for dealing with audio and this did the job nicely. If the next version is at a price I'd still get it, but I wouldn't know what more features they could add that I'd really need..Version: 0

I downloaded this app because of good reviews and rate, but now i m sooooooooo angry with this app and developer of this app. This app has a major issue that need to be fixed soon. What really happened was, i was recording, then my professor was not saying any important things, so i stopped and deleted that recording, do you know WAHT HAPPENED????? Simple and quick—AudioMemos Free is my app of choice for immediately getting an idea or song melody from my head to my phone. It's fast and easy to make a simple recording, and that's important when I don't want to lose the thought. No fiddling around with naming or anything else—just hit one button and you're recording. The paid version makes this app just about perfect with the added sharing, emailing large file sizes, Dropbox filing, etc. but, for a super fast way to get it down before it's gone—this works well..Version: 3.1.3
Works wellWorks well, but missing one feature that I have not seen in any voice recording app yet: the ability to display a badge icon to show how many recordings there are (ALL recordings, not just ones with a past due reminder or just the unplayed ones). Here’s a feature request for the developers, one that I have previously seen in only an old, now discontinued app called Note2Self. With Note2Self running, I can bring the phone to my ear, and the phone will vibrate to indicate that it has started recording. When I’m done speaking and move the phone away, it vibrates again to indicate that it has stopped recording. This feature is invaluable when driving. Another nice feature to have is automatic sending by email. I know that I can use the share sheet, but that is several taps (tap the “i” icon, tap on Mail icon, enter email address, etc.). A feature that automatically sends an email to a preset address as soon as recording has ended would be great..Version: 4.5.2
Stops recording when device sleepsAs promised, I said I would re-rate this app after I installed the app update. As some of you may have read, I was dissatisfied with the previous update, but was 100% happy with the version I used two versions ago... Well, I am happy to report that so far the latest update of this app is working PERFECTLY! Hats off the the developer for working out the nuances and delivering a top notch app! So far great!I was searching for an app like this for months with no luck. My instructor talks fast so it's easy to lose track when taking notes. Downloaded this mid lecture and crossed my fingers as I couldn't listen to the quality till I got home. I had the lowest quality setting and it worked great although I will try a higher quality setting to see if it helps some of muffles. I'm using the ipad3 with the built in mic at the moment so I'm sure an external mic would sound amaZing! Thanks for this app!.Version: 3.1.3
Free Recorder with Microphone Level Boost!You're not going to beat this free app if you're looking for a basic audio recorder. The thing that sets it apart from other free voice/audio recorders is the ability to boost -- and I mean really boost -- the input record level on the microphone. It's not obvious. In fact, you have to hunt down the volume boost control on the settings page, but, once you set it, test it, and save it, it retains that setting for your future recordings. If you record in the same environment, like a lecture class from the same seat given by the same professor, etc., this may be fine. If you need to be adjusting the input levels for different settings, then I'd recommend springing $.99 for the app 'iSaidWhat?!' which gives you comparable volume boosting but does it right on the front while you are recording so you can set it just right out without going back an forth to the settings page and doing test recordings. A note to the developers: Please move this 'volume boost' feature to the main recording page and make it adjustable during recording! You give us the meter so we can check the level, all we need is the ability to adjust the level on the fly. Thanks. I've also upgraded to the paid version and I'll tell you, it's worth it if you are recording where automatic voice control is important. The paid version has the sweetest implementation of both the threshold (minimum volume needed to start recording) and duration (how long it will record silence after the last sound before pausing). Again, it would be great if these levels were adjustable while you are recording, and not configured from the remote 'settings' page. More than once I've had to 'tweak' the threshold and do needless test recordings. This all applies to the paid version anyway. You don't get this in the free version. One more thing: Tapping on the 'info' button on the page with your recorded memos brings up the WiFi info to connect to your computer through your browser, or to link through their website to transfer your recordings to your computer. Nice feature! All in all, this is the best free voice recorder out there right now if you need to record distant sounds that require boosting the microphone level. Give it a try!.Version: 0
Great for travelling!I used this app on vacation to Italy and it was great. Made notes about expenses for the day so at the end of the day I would know where my money went. Also, we had several guides and I recorded some of their talks about sights we were seeing and could go back and enjoy later when I was trying to recall the day. I will always have a nice recording of the explanation of the Sistine Chapel to go with my pictures. And, the chimes in the leaning tower a Pisa! Love this app!.Version: 3.0.4
Loving it in Dubai, with the king of BollywoodI scored a last-minute interview with Salman Khan, larger than larger than life Bollywood super giant megastar, didn't have a tape recorder with me, was walking through the Dubai Mall, past the world's tallest building, on the way to the interview, looked around to see if I could quickly grab a free app, found this one, downloaded it while walking through the mall and it worked perfectly. Works wellGreat product. Cons: Has a few occasional pop up reminders for paid version but not bad. One if the recordings, the first, is always hidden by the bottom ad so you can't play that one back. Record button isn't the stop recording button which I keep missing. It only pauses it which is cumbersome. Pros: Sound quality is excellent. Simple format. I use it daily for quick reminders that I play back at the end of the day. It's free!.Version: 0
The ios 5 bug when transfering filesFor me, this has always been a five stars app. Quality and user interaction is great. The only thing is that I tried to transfer some of my recorded stuff today and I got an error message that said something about a bug in ios 5 that doesn't allow a connection to be established. I'm glad I was notified and told they were working on it already. I just hope the update comes out soon, because I really need those files..Version: 2.80
Great sound qualityI Love this app, the only thing that bothered me is that there isn't a lot of options for editing your recordings. It's all pretty basic. Other then this app is great. Good quality but has adsI was definitely impressed with the sound quality of this app. It was just as good as the voice memo app that you find on iPhone. The only problem is that it has advertising. I specifically wanted to use this to read books to my kids, but I know you'll be more distracted by as for games than listening to my voice telling the story. Clear sound for Audio MemosI am always pleased with the clarity of the recording. Sometimes, even when I am in a noisy environment, the voice always come out very well. Free versionFor my purposes it works great...I can record meetings and be able to review information at a later date. It's much simpler than trying to take written notes and getting hand cramps! It would be great to be able to edit recording...only simple edits would be fine for the free version...such as cutting out irrelevant parts and save space on my iPad. Ok I guess...I got this to help me with studying while in medical school, I wanted to be able to listen to my notes while at work or on my way to school, but found out the hard way that this app only works I'd you have a mic. Which on the iPod touch 2 version you do not have one. And recording and on the iPad and listening is well awkward, it works as well as it should as long as you have the proper tools for recording not what I expected is all.Version: 3.0.1.1

Some Sorta ReviewIt's good, but it's extremely, intensely inconvenient that you can only send up to 3 megabytes per file. It doesn't allow you to send long recordings to your email and other things of that nature. The quality could be better also. Great app for its intended purposeThis is an app for capturing short memos. Things that you might put on a post-it except you don't have a pen and paper or where you want your hands free. I just used it to make note of some data so I could push buttons and read data quickly for later use. Also great for notes and reminders if Siri isn't transcribing your speech accurately, which happens with technical terms and jargon. For those complaining about sound recording quality there is a slider to adjust this but this app is not intended to record high quality music or bird songs and there are other apps better suited to recording a meeting. Meets my needsI have used this app to record lines to rehearse a play, to record myself reading a children's book and to record my Dad playing piano. Voice recording turned out better than the piano, but still, I have a decent recording that I wouldn't otherwise have.
