For the most part, I like the herbs, points, and the navigation. I feel that the diagnostic pertaining to the 8 principes were very very very poorly done. Most of the hot syndromes were label as cold. I can understand that mistakes can happen but it happens far too often for the 8 p. No effort has been made to correct. I wonder if this was done by some programer? A real TCM practioner would take every precautions to stand by his/her work. Part2 This apps has improved so much! Keep up the good works.
I purchased this app with the hopes that it would be a great quick reference for Master Tung’s points and I was actually surprised at how robust this app is. It really is a must for any acupuncturist as it is one of the best reference sources that I have seen. There is so much to remember and having quick access to so much is convenient and greatly appreciated. The only gripe I have is the Master Tung points are only listed by either their English or Chinese name and not by the numbers, which I wish was an option and hope it will be in the future as it will make it faster to locate the point I am in need of. Overall though this app is well worth the $25 I spent (purchased the Tung points options and Tongue Dx)!
So much information about herbs and their pharmacological applications, along with other information about acupuncture points and a diagnostics section. A very useful app for amateur and professional alike. 👍🏼
Look up points, RX, herbs, pharmacies
This app is unquestionably the must have app for TCM students and practitioners. Its value and information exceed the other currently available major TCM apps combined at a fraction of the cost (e.g., BenCao and Points). The app includes information on diagnosis, single herbs, herbal formulas, and acupuncture points (including auricular). The herbs are organized individually, by category, by formula, and formula category. Acupuncture points are organized by channel and also by category. Images for the herbs and acupuncture points are included with a zoom function. The interface is excellent, the app is search enabled, and you can edit and modify information within the app. Combine all of this with a Quiz Yourself add-on that enables you to test your knowledge by indentifying the image, functions, indications, taste, channels influenced, diagnosis, western use, and location of the herbs, formulas, and points and you have an awesome tool for quick review and study at mid-term and final crunch time!!! The developer is also very responsive and diligently works on improving the already fantastic app. Again, if you are a TCM student or practitioner looking for a solid overall TCM app look no further and BUY THIS APP NOW!!!

This is absolutely my go-to app for chinese medicine! it's got point info, individual herb & formula info as well as auricular acu and it's all integrated and cross-referenced! I can search by any of the above, or by diagnosis or symptom. i just type in 'cough' for example & it will bring up all points, formulas, herbs, ear points, and technical tcm diagnoses that could be used with cough. then, i can click on any of those for further detail. it's fantastic. i've downloaded all the other tcm apps available and while I like ben cao for herbs and acupoints ultimate for points, tcm clinic aid is exactly how I practice. i only wish it had more detail - more detailed images with the the ability to tap on a point for info about it like in acupoints. in any case, the infrastructure is there. i look forward to more more more detail!
Are you a TCM student who doesn’t know what resources to invest in? Choose this! TCM Clinic Aid is indispensable. It’s FULL of information; it’s well-organized; it’s not a million dollars! I use this all the time. I used to check all the information in CAM, ACT and Deadman, but realized I didn’t need to keep doing that because the information is dead on. I had a question and emailed the tech support and they responded right away (pointing out nicely it was my error not theirs :) So this is all to say, if you are thinking about getting this app you probably should. Also, I added the quizzes recently and I LOVE them. It’s so helpful with remembering point location and herb indications. Having the quizzes at my disposal whenever also means I’m studying more.
I had problems updating the IPod app, but got help from the developer by the next day, and it was easy with his help to get it up and running. All lost data was restored. The IPad app is well worth the money even if you have this version of the app. I rarely use this on my IPod anymore, because I definitely prefer the IPad version. No problems with the update for the IPad version. I have all of the TCM apps, and this and the Deadman app are the best apps for TCM. Deadman only is acupuncture, but TCM Clinic Aid includes single herbs, herbal formulas, diagnosis, and more. Definitely worth the money.
This is by far the best TCM app available. Not only does it have complete information on points, herbs, formulas and auricular, but it also has expansions to include Master Tung points, wrist and ankle points and my favorite: quizes. I have contacted the creators of this app several times and each time, they have included my suggestions on how to make the app better. Furthermore, they have a history of updating the app every few months. My only regret is that I cannot give the makers of this app the money I spent on other TCM apps in the iTunes store.
This is by far the most thorough and best app out there if you're looking for a pocket reference guide for all you covered in acupuncture school. Points, indications, contras, herbs and formulas (for CA or NCCAOM), tongue and pulse, it's all here. One especially great feature is if you want to see the ingredients in any formula you click on the herbs and it shows a pic and full information about that herb. Also, if you want to edit or add something in a field you have that option as well.
I don't know how anyone could ever get through TCM school without this app. I use it daily to look up obscure points, double check myself, and now study for boards. It is worth way more than what they charge for it!
This is the best app I have bought and so reasonable. The updates are always a great improvement. Of all my apps, this is the most useful. I am glad the new update has a way to backup data and that the quiz will give the correct answer if I get it wrong. I am so impressed with a writer who continues to care about the program to continue to improve!
This is an awesome resource for anyone doing anything with TCM. I have been loving it, until I updated. Now it crashes sometimes when I I try to start the app! Please fix this issue, using an ipod touch 4g with ios 4.3.2. Please fix, for I am going to travel through Nepal soon to do some volunteering, and was hoping this would be my reference source.
Just graduated from TCM school, took CALE and Nationals and used this app nonstop throughout. It is very well organized, easy to search, comprehensive and frequently updated to address any problems. I love how it is easy to customize and ow you can choose to see only CALE or Nationals herbs/Rx. Seriously, I cannot recommend this app more highly for students and practitioners.
I use this one a lot. It covers single herbs and formulas, points, and diagnosis. It even has graphics that you have the option of having on or off, which saves on battery life. I refer to it in classes and when I'm studying. This is a perfect all-around TCM app for a very reasonable price! Big thanks to the developer(s) and thanks for the regular updates.
I just wanted to say how much I love this app. It has such a wealth of information, and it is so accessible. I only wish I had an iPhone whine I was in school, and that I could have started using this app a to help me during my school years. Regardless, I find it very helpful as a practitioner, and have been recommending it to all my practitioner friends.
I just love this app so much that I bought this HD version and just use the regular version for my droid phone. I use this daily in my practice and only wish I had this during school. Why carry books when you can have this awesome app on your iPad! There is no other app for TCM out there that compares to this.
I'm an acupuncture student in my third year, and this is by far the best reference I have used thus far. The layout, the pictures, and the functionality of this app makes it the best acupuncture reference for iOS. Well worth the money!! And if you have any issues, the devs get back to you right away!
A superior replacement for a hundred pounds of books. I use this in my practice as my go-to reference, always in my pocket. Herbs within formulas are color-coded for temperature, which is hugely helpful. The in-app purchases are a bargain. My #1 app for making my life easier.
I have been using this app almost daily for years. Great reference with good search function too. Regular updates make this easily the best CM app out there. I've been practicing 8 years, and really appreciate the depth of info in TVM Clinic Aid
I'm an acupuncture student & I did this very useful. One problem I have is the search. Seems like I can't search the point without the pinyin input. If the search part of this app improves, 5/5 for sure ^_^
This is a fantastic app, and it keeps getting better. The developers are really great, they respond when I’ve had a problem and have listened to user input. Keep up the good work.
Perfect to study Chinese medicine herbs. Just wrote a long review but Apple automatically deleted it permanently without giving me the option to save it after telling me the user name was taken.
Lots of great material that is easy to navigate. Still shuts down at times, but is overall fantastic and well worth the price.
Indispensible application. Just the other day I whipped it out in clinic & comfirmed the location of LV-5 before the other interns could figure it out. Beats carrying around that HB Kim book!
A great quick reference for any Chinese medicine student. I will love to see the point name characters in the browse menu like with herbs in a future update.
It is not perfect, but so far the best app for practicing acupuncturists and students as well. I use it all the time in my practice. Very helpful app. It is updated regularly and works fine with my iphone4.
This is an app that all TCM professions and students must have! And it works so great! Excellent format and information! Thank you thank you!!!
Had not worked since upgrade. They found problem and corrected. Very helpful!!
Compare to others AOM apps this very good for the price and they keep up with updates. I use this quit often in class and clinic.
Awesome-how lucky is the modern TCM practitioner? Everything a clinician needs, all at the touch of one's thumbs. An incredible source for information, all easily gleened. Great for the learned and the learning.
This app has everything a student or practitioner could want. Good details on most points, patterns and disharmonies. Fantastic overall.
As a TCM practitioner I find this app a fantastic reference while working in my clinic or needing a quick herbal reference. Highly recommended.
Love it. Very useful. Five stars if there were diagrams, especially for the Tung's points. Well worth the purchase, I use it in clinic daily.
I have them all and these guys have done a great job. Would love to see some japanese abdominal/ 5 phase asditions, mixed w kampo and id give it 7 stars. Thanks all
Crashed after the install on iphone 4, but started working after power cycling the phone. The application looks great so far.
After new update the letters are so small can't even see. Otherwise the app itself is great.
Really great, three apps in one, I really like the point location visual, and the herb id.
The app is great. But Iphone doesn’t seem to get the quizz function?
Detailed with search functions. Pictures of ear and herbs. Illustrations for body points. Overall good value for practitioners.
Very useful
It is a new app and I did a fast look. Seems great... I tried to search for symptoms and diseases had in mind to compare it with my pc softwares. I am satisfied with the info and the interface. I am a medical doctor and acupuncturist. My suggestion is to add point images ASAP. Also like what i can see now, keep the bridge of modern medicine and tcm by letting people search for what they want from both ends. Good job so far. I will update my review if anything comes up. Update: new patch for OS 3 works perfectly. No crashes. Update: pictures are great. Can't wait to see the rest.
Glad to have purchased it.
Love it, used just a couple and I truly love, thank you NB: it would be nice, if a chart would included also
I use this app constantly. The regular updates and support make this worth my money several times over!
Fantastic resource that's easy to use. I love it!
This is a great app but I'm sure many of us would really like iPad support.
I use this app as a quick reference in practice and when teaching students in clinic. A great resource.
This is simply the best, most useful TCM educational and practical app available and given the modest price of $10, you can't go wrong with this one! I recommend it to everyone interested in learning about TCM. The creator of this app is just brilliant!!! I also recommend getting the Quiz module from this app.
Love it. Use it every day. It is like many reference books in a single app.
I've been using this app daily to look up symptoms, herbs/formuals and points! Great search function and has shu points clearly listed. Diagrams are easy to find and points are similar to Peter Deadman's. Great app and daily necessity!
TCM Clinic Aid Negative Reviews and Ratings
Would have been great if you could quiz yourself by Herb categories instead of only 20 random herbs at once, felt kind of cheated after paying and realizing it was limited to this when quizzing on herbs. Otherwise it’s a good app with abundant information
Please give me the old version of this app back. This is much more difficult to use and now worthless to me. I’ve been using this app for years and updated the app and EVERYTHING changed!! Very frustrating!
I have contacted the developer about organizing the order of organs in the treatment protocol section. Order of organs are in alphabetical order which confuses the user. Faster use would be better if the developer was more aware of the order of organs and relationships so that finding points is fast and easy. Several glitches, app does not alway respond. Over all app is a good tool. Developers listen to your customers!
A LOT. I don't often get to use this app for any length of time because it crashes mid search or crashes at launch. I use the original iPhone. Maybe that's the problem?? Other than that, it "seems" like it would be a handy app. Wish acu points were searchable in pinyin though. Either way it's close to useless for me and I will have to find something else.
I just downloaded the latest update and I can't get the program to open. Every time I try to load the program it crashes and my iphone returns me to the home page. I was looking forward to the update. I hope they fix the problem soon.
I have a first generation ipod touch and already had this application installed. In trying to update the app it now crashes and returns me to the homepage. I can no longer use it and it is such a great app. Now itunes store wants to charge me $9.99 for an application i already had. Please fix this.
This is a great mobile app but the updates or potential to buy them is long overdue. The herbs and formulas are unorganized, outdated, and more. I am willing to pay to have a major update especially how helpful and useful this took is while I am in school. Thank you
The layout is nice but the function is lacking. There needs to be a way to add personal notes and new formulas. It also would be very useful to be able to link to herbs in formulas, formulas from single herb pages.
Have had this app for about two years and it was great but since latest update it no longer works at all. It crashes immediately upon trying to open it and no way to get in touch with developers...
Bought this app 3 mos ago and liked it so much i paid for it again when i got my new I Phone. Problem is that half the features that were included in the 1st version i am now supposed to pay extra for! Bad business!
I have loved this app for some time now, however I just purchased the "in app" for pulse diagnosis and now it will not even open!!!! what to do??? help???
Since I have updated to iOS5, this application shuts down very frequently when using it. Didn't they know that iOS5 was coming when they had an update in September? How come nothing has been done so far? One star till it becomes compatible with iOS5.
I paid for this app and suddenly I cannot even open it. It is disappearing when I open it. I tried deleted the app and put it back on but it’s no hope. It’s quite annoying when you trying to look up for references but it’s not working.
This app used to have have both the CAM and deleted Deadman Acu-point location references. The latest update deleted the Deadman. They don't tell you this. Deadman locations are what is required for the National board exam.
