Splice - Video Editor & Maker App Comments & Reviews

Splice - Video Editor & Maker Positive Reviews

My favorite video app by farI’ve had this app for at least five years and it has never let me down. It’s very easy to experiment with, and has a down to earth format that can do some pretty great things considering the other apps in this genre. The audio settings, whether that be little sound effects or songs in numerous different genres, are all amazing. I can simply drag and slide to whatever time I want, and can crop sounds and even extend them if I want, as well. There is even an option to layer these and do a voice over if wanted—a very generous format for a video-maker’s creativity. I love the various video effects: Ken Burns motion, text effects, video speed, cropping, filters, and much more. Landscape or Portrait settings, transitions, are easy to use as well. All in all, I use this app to make 30 second videos to 5:00 videos. It’s good for all of it. I appreciate that it doesn’t rub it’s watermark all over the video. Splice gives you the option to turn on or off the watermark at the end of the video. It differentiates itself from other video apps in this way—and it inspires me to tell others about this app because they’ll ask what I used. I wish they would put more of the effects they already have though. I have never come across an instance that I needed any other effects, especially with the new update that the app has. The “split” option on the video editing is soooo nice. letting me crop videos but also leaving the aftermath of the video intact incase I wanted to do something with that part as well..Version: 4.0.1

It takes forever to upload. EditHi, I’m a regular user of splice and I loved this app and used it for almost 8 month now. I liked this app so much that I purchased yearly subscription but I’m really disappointed 🙁cause its not working fast and efficiently anymore. Media files I want to work on, they take forever to upload to splice from gallery to work on. It’s happening for past month now. Earlier I was able to quickly transfer large files ,more than 30 min clips within seconds to splice and edit them. Now even if I make 5-10 min videos and try to transfer them to app for editing they just don’t transfer… Secondly I was able to edit my iPhone 13 pro max 4K video earlier now after editing I have to reduce quality to 1080p so I can save my edited video to upload on my socials. Kindly fix these issues… guide me or I’ll have to cancel my yearly subscription. For all these reasons I would give Splice ⭐️⭐️ Thank you splice for resolving the matter. I feel splice has become better in past 2 months and I’m seeing some new features and music that i love. AI feature is Also great although i prefer to edit manually but hopefully I’ll get better with AI one day. Please increase music library and songs up to 3,4 minutes long. And make sure they can be used without any copyright infringements on all social media platforms..Version: 4.28.20

The app keeps crashing on me.Me, who’s trying to be a content creator from and editor really wants a free and reliable editing software for my videos. Since I’m more used to editing videos on mobile, I searched the Apple store for the best possible option for editing. I tried a whole ton of different editing softwares available and one of which is Splice, which I had high hopes for because of the large amount of positive reviews. To be very honest, I didn’t really have a problem with it except for some minor crashes for slightly longer videos that were on high frame rates and pixels, it overall it was completely fine for me. I chose Splice for most of my videos is because the other ones I used to use, like VideoLeap, added restrictions like limiting the time of each video to just 1.5 minutes which is absurd if I want to make a slightly longer video; And another which is PowerDirector, which to be honest can be sometimes be better than Splice by providing free Premium Experience if you use it a lot, but if you didn’t have any of those then it would be horrible since it leaves a watermark which looks a bit… odd. So splice is like the equal balance between the two. Just recently after some updates, I went back onto splice and made a video, and after pressing the create video button, it crashed my device, and it happened over and over again. I don’t know how to fix it and it’s just really finicky sometimes, but anyways it is a really good mobile editing software with just a few crashes..Version: 4.25.2

Great features especially to animate photos except for musicI especially liked using the Ken Burns effect on still photos which worked much, much better - is far more versatile - and easier than its counterpart in iMovie. It’s relatively also easy to splice film clips together, too. Biggest complaint with upgrades made since summer 2019 is the loss of some of the holiday music (I had a hard time doing holiday video last Christmas) and other suitable music to use, and the loss of the feature which let you splice the free music together easily with fade-out options available at beginning and end. Also, most music supplied is too short (less than a minute) - my videos typically are 1-1/2 to 2-3/4 minutes in length. I now rarely use Splice’s music and have to import video clips I do here into iMovie or some other program to finish. Other complaint is not having special features with how text or titles displays such as the ability to have letters dropping down, or fading in and out, etc., like text features available on iMovie. However, I do like the colored text/type choices which can make text much easier to read on bright backgrounds. I also like the ease in selecting aspect ratio although it is limited to only 3 choices. Overall this is a nice, fairly easy to use editing package. I use it the most for animating static photos so they zoom in or out, move from side to side or even - on rare occasion - rotate, which is especially cool if done right..Version: 4.4.1

Nearly perfect video editor! This is a pretty amazing professional video editing app that has many of the features that you would expect from a professional video editing app! Even better, the app is so intuitive and so easy to use that you will feel like you are an expert of this app within just a few minutes of using it! It’s truly amazing! There is simply no comparison between this app and Apple’s iMovie. However, it could use a few small improvements, including more responsive technical support. We sent a few emails to technical support 4 or 5 days ago, and still haven’t heard back from them yet. Furthermore, the program makes some things more difficult than they need to be — for example, when you insert text onto a video clip, it ALWAYS makes the length of the text the ENTIRE LENGTH OF YOUR VIDEO CLIP with no quick way to change it. Other video editing apps insert text at just 5 seconds, and then you can quickly change it from there. There is also no way to pull the audio from a video clip and just use that audio as a narration track for other video clips. We also have continual difficulty trying to trim the end of a video clip by dragging the end of the video — this app often things that we are trying to MOVE the video clip. (We end up splitting and deleting to prevent this from happening.) Hopefully the team behind this app is listening and will continue to improve this app! It’s already an excellent app! :).Version: 4.0.2

Includes MUSIC!!!!So I got in a fight with my husband. I needed a gesture to say “sorry.” I wanted to do something that was easy because I wasn’t that sorry… so I thought it would be really cool to do a video of our life together and pictures set to music. I looked up a few of the apps in my App Store download it about six of them that were free (including this one). I figured I would go into each one of them after they were through downloading and see which one would be the easiest to use so I could throw something together…Well three of them made me put in my credit card information to open the app and wanted me to subscribe… Guess what, that’s not free!! But I finally opened SPLICE and it was AWESOME! It had songs, literally thousands, to choose from and the songs were free!!! It was so easy to understand how to do it and it had everything you could want as far as effects and editing capabilities…The only complaint I have is that while putting together my video and watching the pictures of me and my husband float across the screen, to music I absolutely loved, I started feeling more sorry. Thank goodness that even though this was an easy project to do it looks like it took a long time and a lot of effort, so It will convey the appropriate amount of “sorry.” GET THIS APP!!!!!!!.Version: 4.21.8

Love it, one major problemI love this app. It is so easy and fun to use and I have been using it to make edits to keep for myself and share with my friends. I do not have a Splice Pro (the premium version you need to pay for) because I can’t exactly afford it. The last time I used this app was a few months ago, and I had no problems with it, and it was perfect. Today I decided I wanted to use it again, and made an edit, but then I came across a huge problem. The app doesn’t even let you save the video you made to your photo library unless you have Splice Pro. I tried to navigate this problem by screen recording, but it puts watermarks all over the video, making it really annoying to watch. I am very disappointed with this update to the app, and I understand that the developers need to make money, but the fact that we can’t even save our edits without paying is going too far in my opinion. This just made it so I can’t share the edit with anyone unless I show them in person (or pay the subscription). The subscription is usually around 5 dollars a week or so, and I don’t think I would be willing to pay 20 dollars a month for an app I don’t use that often. To the developers: I would recommend making certain filters and transitions and other things only available to premium members in return for making it so anyone can save their edits. Please consider it, sorry this paragraph is so long..Version: 4.26.7

The tiniest bug literally makes the app unusable.Compared to all the other editing apps on the market for IPhones, this one was seemingly the best editing app BY FAR in terms of subscription pricing and efficiency. The app never crashed, the layout is very simple to understand, and it’s easy to get the hang of...but there’s a bug that literally made me go back to my original review and lower the amount of stars I gave it from 5 to 2. I’ve only been using this app for a couple of hours and I began to edit pretty large media files on it. Everything was going perfectly well and I was happy, but I soon realized that what I thought was my mistake was a bigger problem than it appeared to be. Whenever I add an audio clip over a video clip, the audio clip just remains at 100% volume no matter what I do and it’s so frustrating because there’s no reason why it should be doing that. I’ve checked that I lowered the volume, I’ve deleted the audio clip and replaced it, and still the audio was at 100% blasting volume, completely ruining hours of hard work. I can’t add in background music because of it. It’s so annoying because I spent so much time perfecting every little detail of the video but when I went to add in music or sound, there was nothing I could do. It’s very disappointing because this app is great and I really like it, but I’m definitely going to cancel my subscription after I finish writing this review..Version: 4.2.2

The BEST iPhone video producer everI’ve invested 17 years into video production beginning on Sony Vegas while my go to is always Adobe Premier. I’ve never been able to spend much time using Final Cut but that’s just it, they are limiting their reach and that limits the creative content ability on a global basis! Splice has been top tier FIRST CLASS easy to use enabling anyone with extensive or limited experience to build masterpieces! I accidentally paid for a year on a trial and at first I was upset because i hasn’t even had a chance to use it yet. Once I had been charged it coerced my mind to try it now because I didn’t want to pay I think maybe $60 or something maybe $100 I can’t remember but I was happy as ever and I’ll be backing these engineers for life. As long as they don’t support Mark Zuckerberg or Jeff Dean or David Nasser Basset and Department of Defense! Evil those people are and be careful as they will image your drive and replace your drive with their manipulated copy so keep a pixel encryption and close attention on Cloned signals like files out of place and file permissions and best thing is to keep it where they can’t even mess with it after they image it. They will almost always find ways to image it. So the trick is keeping it on lock down after imaging. Practice like that and they toast!.Version: 4.25.0

Absolutely great aside for a couple of minor inconveniences!I am absolutely LOVING all of the new features, especially the fact that I can now use the text to make subtitles!! The design is sleek and modern, the view screen is bigger, there are more sound effects, I can crop it down to square size for Instagram, etc. I’m loving it! My only issues thus far have been with editing the music. I’m working on my big ‘ol iPad, yet I nonetheless have a reeeeeeeally hard time finding the hit box for the slide bar that’s supposed to help me “crop” the music. I end up just awkwardly moving it to the side instead of shortening or lengthening the clip, and it gets very frustrating. I had to get out my Apple Pencil in order to get the job done. The other thing I’m struggling with is that, with my projects, I usually work with small music segments. In the most recent one, I’m using only five seconds of the provided music. To do that, I unfortunately have to go aaaaaaaaall the way to the end of the video and drag it down to size little by little. Then again, I’m not sure if that’s because this app was made for bigger videos. Thus far, those are the only things I would change! This app is the greatest video editing app I’ve found up to date. I’ve been using it for about two years now. Thank you so much for providing this app!.Version: 4.0.1

Been With Splice from the StartI didn’t have any interest in video editing until I started making short projects on my first iPhone years ago. The apps back then seem prehistoric now, most were clumsy at best, many were useless money grabs that are gone now. But one stood out as a kind of conduit - with a solid enough functionality that I could use to enhance the more useful apps limitations. This was an earlier version of Splice which I believe was run by another company. Splice was crude but I found it easier to manipulate - which charged my creativity - which is kind if the point, isn’t it? This early iteration of Splice filled in whatever function those other apps lacked. I could pan - I’m not even sure “Old Splice” knew it could be used that way. Or any of the ways I used to create a visual effect I imagined and then found ways to approximate. Either way I had a lot of fun demolishing the boundaries of those other apps with Splice which I’d stretch like taffy. I’d run footage through more limited app - usually offering only one or two functions; I loved experimenting where most would have stopped - Splice was like an unbreakable toy. I’m pleased to see that Splice has stepped up and become a far more robust tool, fine-tuned to allow for subtle moments. As the world changes I find my time spent exploring Splice has added up to a significant advantage - during a pitch I can communicate ideas visually on the fly, almost as quickly as I speak but with far more information. I can show what most take their chances and explain. I amgrateful to those driving Splice forward - you’ve enlarged both the brush and the canvas. Keep kicking the walls down, I’m so eager to explore the new rooms!.Version: 4.28.24

Subscription**EDIT** I was looking through the app and realized you can adjust the quality of the video to 1080p and the app allows you to download your video for free! Anything with the blue crown next to it means you need the subscription! Sorry for the confusion and very glad I can continue to use the app! I really enjoy this app. Simple and easy to use. I don’t use filter or adjustment on my videos. I just like to edit out clips that are kind of long. Mostly stuff of my family to share with them. I remove anything that’s not needed like if the camera pans to the floor or something. I haven’t used the app in a couple months and went to save a video I edited but unfortunately now that app has you pay for a weekly subscription of $4.99 or $9.99 a week. At this time it’s not something I can justify paying. I understand and absolutely agree creators should be payed for what they make. It would be nice if there was the option for the bare minimum of split, delete, speed up options for free and the subscription included their others affects and abilities the app has to offer. For now I’ll be on the lookout for another app to use, but if you have the ability to fit their subscription into your budget I fully believe this app is worth it..Version: 4.27.80

READ THIS BEFORE DOWNLOADING 😤I was VERY disappointed with this app. And the main reason is that you have to have a subscription for basically everything. You can’t use transitions without a subscription, you can’t use the audio that comes with the app without a subscription, YOU CANT HAVE MORE THAN 2 VIDEOS WITHOUT A SUBSCRIPTION. I tried to use green screen and guess what? I needed a subscription. We as the app users need wiggle room to let our creativity flow. All I can. Make are crappy little videos because I need a subscription for every little thing. This is not a very good app and if you think it’s a good app for all my fellow video creators, guess what? No. I suggest other apps like CapCut. Even the little starter IMovie is better than this app. Sure it’s review is 4.6, but please read this before you waste memory on an app that is not worth it! And if you do download it, I hope you learn a big fat lesson. I don’t want the developer to just say “So sorry for the inconvenience, thank you for leaving review”, or something, don’t say something, actually fix it because some people like me DONT want to pay a subscription, and rubbing a subscription in our faces isn’t going to help either. Please, see this, and fix it. 😡.Version: 4.27.88

Annoyed customerAlright to begin with the updated version Is really great! I absolutely love it! It has very advanced features and it really spices up your videos. For a free app that has so many amazing features such as the transitions I WOULD give it a five star rating BUT there is one flaw that ruins it all for me. This flaw is that splice advertises there splice pro right?, innocent just advertising, WRONG. No no no this just actually happened to me I went to save my work that I had just spent about 2 1/2 hours on, and it said ‘your using pro features, you cannot save with out the splice pro’ Then I clicked the continue button and the splice company was like alright here are your options chose one and THEN you can save your work. They basically wanted you to subscribe and pay them monthly or yearly or something. I did not purchase any of the splice pro subscriptions, and this occurred. I was pretty upset until it dawned on me “oh I can screen recordings to record my video genius” so that’s what I did. Well guess what the company had to get their way of advertising and stuck their logo “splice” in the middle of the screen, which lasted the entire video, so that means if I wanted to post my video people would see the logo the entire time and become distracted. I did not use any of the splice pro applications, and this inconvenience occurred. This would not occur if I had the splice pro. No hard feelings to the company I just wanted to let them know how I feel, and that other people will probably feel the same way. Please fix this issue, Thanks, Annoyed customer.Version: 4.11.0

Best Video Editing App but ......I’ve tried a dozen of video making apps over the last a couple of years and found Splice was the best one. I especially like its in-app music selections that none of any other apps can compete with. This app had added much more fun to my life until a few days ago when I had to uninstall it and reinstall it. During the video making on my iPad, I got a problem at the end of the process. The video displayed black while the audio played normal. There wasn’t any hint from the editing mode. My last attempt of troubleshooting was uninstalling the app and reinstalling it immediately, and that was often an effective trick used for software problems. However, after I reinstalled Splice from App Store and spent another half an hour to remake my video, the app didn’t let me export the video to the photo album for free. Actually I noticed the sign of a crown right after I opened the reinstalled app but didn’t realize what that meant. There wasn’t such a sign in my previous Splice. Then I went online trying to figure out how Splice became non-free in just a few minutes. When I finally learned this app is not actually free anymore, I felt so bad, a kind of feeling of being fooled or tricked. If I was given at least a warning while uninstalling the app, I would definitely have reconsidered my troubleshooting attempt. Just because the existing longstanding user uninstalled and reinstalled the app within one minute, should he/she not be allowed to continue using the app for free? This is how the company keeps its loyal customers? I wish the company would find a friendly way of treating your loyal customers..Version: 4.1.4

Thank you, Splice!I’ve had Splice for three years, and I can say with certainty that this is an amazing movie/video making app. It is so easy to choose the pictures and videos you want and arrange them. There are a good number of transitions as well, and if you choose to use Ken Burns on your pictures, you can select the start and finish positions. I also enjoy the ability to trim videos in the app instead of having to trim them in Photos. You can also apply filters to videos and pictures in the app, as well as add text. The sleek design and user-friendliness only add to the appeal. But of course, easily one of the best things about Splice is the audio options. To start, there is a HUGE selection of music and the option to fade in and out. You can play as many tracks at a time as you want and precisely edit how long you want the music to play. On top of this, you can also record audio for voiceovers and narration, which is great for making stop-motion movies. I have used Splice on multiple projects and it has yet to disappoint me. The best part is that it is FREE! I know that there is an extension, but even without it, this app is truly amazing. Thank you, Splice!.Version: 4.0.8

Great app but only works for those who pay membershipSo I’ve been using this app since 2016. I started video editing as a hobby after a school assignment. After that, I used splice daily to edit the videos I recorded of myself playing a variety of mobile games and to make family videos. Unfortunately, as years go by, even though Splice has acquired some very cool new features, I can now barely use it without paying something. Today I entered the app and found out that the crop and adjust features are now part of the app’s membership package. This was one of the things I liked most about Splice, that I could edit my videos using these features without having to pay. It’s still a great app though, but people like me, that can’t pay a membership, are continuously being affected by this nonstop economic interest that results in forcing us to stop doing what we love, which is video editing, and search for another and more suitable video editing app that doesn’t exists for free. Video editing apps shouldn’t be only for people that look forward to make money through them. There should also be apps for people that are just looking for a way to do what they like and feel satisfied with their own work. Splice is a great, very complete video editing app, but it is not for everyone apparently..Version: 4.21.6

Please fix!I love Splice and everything about it, but there’s a problem with it. Maybe this might be my iPad or something to do with settings but if there’s anything you can do please take action - I was going all well with my animations that took hours to make individually. All of a sudden it said that Splice needed access to my photos (which I gave access to AAAAGEES ago). It said that the footage in my videos needed to be restored because somehow it got deleted but I checked multiple times that the footage I had in the videos was the exact same, and it was in my camera roll for certain. I deleted splice and downloaded it again, hoping it would do something. Now, my animations are gone, I don’t have access to premium features and it is still asking for access to my photos. I went to settings, went to splice but there was no button for ‘allowing access to photos’. This happened to all of my apps. I’m really devastated that this happened to Ibis Paint X because 2 years worth of drawings are gone so I can’t see my progress. I completely understand if this is an issue that you have no control over and if it is just my iPad or setting malfunctioning, but if there’s anything you can do/ anything I could do to solve this, PLEASE let me know! Thank you. (But when this is fixed I will continue using your amazing app!).Version: 4.2.4

Good video editing app but can scam you on priceSo i was this app in an ad and happen to looking for a video edit app for my new iphone 12 pro. One similar to the default video edit on the galaxy note 10 which i came from. The i phone has no real default editing app. So I decided to give this one a try was kind of skeptical at first because of the seven day trial and the price saying it was $70 a year. Even ran into a glitch at first where it kept crashing inches which is why the four stars. But after resetting the app it’s been fine. The app itself is very similar to most editing apps on PC or mobile and it is very similar to the one on galaxy but has a lot more features. It’s really easy to use actually I tend to use it more than I use my Mac For editing now. Found out though that the company is kind of ripping people off because if you go to the subscriptions in the App Store you can lower the price from $60 to 10 for a year which is kind of a scam and they charge different people a different price and that you have the option to choose in the settings. Right either way it is a very good app and the person must’ve put a lot of effort into it so it is worth some money..Version: 4.26.0

It’s great, but I do miss the old versionAs one of your previous users of the app, I quite liked the older version. It was simple and easy to use, especially for someone that doesn’t really like to put too much time and effort into figuring out how to simply adjust the crop of the video and all. In the old one, everything was easy to figure out, but all of these new features and this new format is a bit overwhelming. I mean, I swear I’m not as lazy as I sound, but the simplicity of the last version and its ability to still make high quality videos were probably the greatest things I loved about the app. Don’t get me wrong, I love all of the new features and effects, but I also wish it was easier to maneuver around the app and whatnot. Maybe it’s just because I’m used to the old version, but maybe it isn’t ??? Also, I wish you guys would add a feature where you could detach audio from one video and put it under another. I can’t seem to figure out how to do that with this app, but I was able to do it with iMovie when iMovie was free a long time ago, so it would be cool if you add that feature. I soooo love your app though and will continue to use it because it’s still by far the best app I can find for video editing that’s free..Version: 4.0.2

The new updates have made the app slow and laggy. Please fix it :(I JUST WANT TO SAY THAT I JUST UPDATED THIS APP TO VERSION 4.2.0 AND IT’S SURREAL! Splice added so many new transitions and a way to extract the audio and place it anywhere in the video! I love this update! This app is 100% worth it! I’ve been using it for a few months now and it’s helped me tremendously! It’s so easy to use and it allows us to let our creativity flow! I love Splice! Update: It’s May 10th, 2021. The latest update and possibly the previous one has caused this app to be slow, laggy, and extremely hard to use. This app was so great but now I cannot even do a simple edit. It just doesn’t work anymore. Hopefully the coders behind Splice will able to fix this soon. People are becoming reasonably and understandingly impatient and honestly so have I. Hopefully, we will be able to use this app again soon without having all of these problems with it. Please read our reviews because a lot of people are saying what’s on their mind when it comes to this app. It’s unfair that we have to pay for this app when it’s not working at the moment. Is there any way you can give us a discount or something since the app hasn’t been the way it used to be for the past two weeks. I absolutely loved this app because it made it easier for editing. I just hope that the app will get better or at least go back to the way it was before. Everyone who just got the app, please don’t delete it until they update it once more. If you don’t like it, then you can delete it then. It’s just that there are so many good things about the app that a lot of other apps don’t have. Please give it a chance. Hopefully we will be able to edit with a fast and non laggy app very soon!.Version: 4.19.4

HOLYYYYYY😻😻I just got this app a couple of hours ago and I rlly want to become a YouTuber and I was looking for apps to edit my videos but iMovie I need to pay for a lot of things and it was just too much. So I was looking for apps and found this......OMG it is the best and I just tried it right now, the music choice is great the transitions are great and the way u can put a filter on ur pictures and right whatever u wanna right and u have a choice of what font u want. I personally might use this a lot it’s a really easy quick way to edit a couple of pictures and turn it into a nice video and I made my first video like 6 min ago and it turned out so good. Everything is so easy to understand and use and that makes this app AMAZING. Anyone who likes to edit!!!, I suggest u get this app it is also free so u don’t have to pay to get this app and I love it already❤️keep it up guys! The only thing I would suggest is if u could put in music with the actually people singing and music that is in trend! But other than that this is a great app and I’m loving it a lot!!! Thank you guys for making this app simple, fun, cool, and quick, with many options (for free) and easy to make a really good video!!.Version: 3.5.3

3 stars because it used to be so great / 5 because it’s perfect nowUpdating this review because all the former issues were fixed. Great app, love it! Former review: The old version of splice was perfect, this new one is expensive, glitchy and minimalist to a fault. Here’s the glitch I encountered: I tried creating a video on my husband’s phone and it never would export, I kept getting a notice saying “uh oh! Something went wrong! Try again?” And after 3-4 tries I gave up. so I had to transfer all the videos to my phone and remake it and finally it exported. The lack of buttons and options is actually very confusing. It looks sharp but isn’t super functional. As to the expense, $104 a year is kind of pricy and there aren’t lower levels for those of us who use the app less often than once a week. It was a great app before the update and I would have been willing to pay a lower usage tier to continue to access it. It’s probably still a great app if you make videos professionally several times a day, but if you’re just an average person making like 1-3 videos a month or less, this app is no longer for you (or me)..Version: 4.3.0

Sis has glowed up! Easy, free, and fun to use! This new and improved update/ version of splice is so much better! It’s way different from the last version but in a good way. I’m still trying to get used to it but so far is a BIG, FAT, thumbs 👍🏼 up 👆🏼. And I really like the layout out of it. The only thing is that the way you add text is kinda messed up. Whenever I try to add text or a title it allways adds a extra little clip to the front and I can’t find a way to remove it. But overall, this app is really good. I really recommend this app and personally I think it the best mobile editing app out there. Believe me, I’ve basically tried all the editing apps there is and all of them haven’t really “clicked” for me I guess. this one is really easy to use and always has been. Unlike the other editing apps, this app doesn’t need you to put any information of yours like your email and snap chat or stuff like that. Some of the apps I have tried before in the past have only let you use it unless you had like a snap chat or something and that’s really annoying!!! Like I have to get an app to use another app???? But anyways, I really like this app..Version: 4.0.1

I’m confused why I have to pay to export a video-Don’t get me wrong! This app has been super useful, and has be easy to use, but when I wanted to take my work out of the app and move it over I have to pay to do that. I understand it for all the other special features, but why to export it? I would screen record it but then the watermark is smack dab in the middle of the video 3 times all over the screen! I get the reson for the watermark but now I’m stuck with something I’m proud of and can’t move it anywhere! Not even to my photo library! All those hours of hard work, with all respect in my heart I don’t want to pay to export it. I’ll give the app credit for when I use it in my credits of a series I’m doing. And I know there’s a 7 free day trial… but how in the world am I able to work In 7 days just to be told I have to pay. Maybe I’m being over dermatic and I apologize. But seriously besides that the app is wonderful- easy to understand and use which I deeply appreciate- I was originally using iMovie because it was free and “easy” to use but it deleted all my work! So I went over to this app! It’s great to practice and use for long term projects! Definitely recommend..Version: 4.27.47

Love this app but…I use this app all the time and have for several years. I’ve made whole 30 minute sections for documentary movies using my iPhone. It’s complicated and takes multiple steps, but when I’m remote, it’s incredibly useful. I’ll continue using it because it’s easy to use for short pieces but there is so much potential with this I feel like it could be so much more. The biggest feature I wish it had was a 9mm filter to make it look like a more sophisticated film technique. Additional ambiance and stylized elements would be a fantastic addition to the app. There are also some basic editing aspects still missing from the design, things which would take it to a whole new level. I’m so adept in the Splice editing environment, I have found work-around for things like positionable color borders, and micro-blurring pixels. My point is these are basic editing elements and should be a part of an any filmmaking app. If there was an expansion pack with additional advanced features, accessible for a monthly fee or an annual fee, I’d pay it and I’m sure there are other creators who would as well. Thanks for an extremely useful app! Keep those developments coming..Version: 4.24.3

Is it Free?By Golly!!!! I do not think that there are any in app purchases required with this application. I’m not sure but I’m gonna see. I love the fact if that is the case this is the app to have it looks like I downloaded this previously and used it before, but oh my God it’s wonderful to see it now if that’s what it is I need a good video. Edit app to just do basic things without trying to build my credit card I can’t take any anymore billing of my credit card by Apple the App Store for apps that I try to see if they work for me. The App Store does not really foster a community of people want to try before they buy. They get you sucked in and then block your apps from being updated when it’s time for an app to be paid for. It’s really annoying because that’s not gonna make me purchase your app just because you hold up my ability to update other apps because I need to pay for an app that wanted me to pay for it that I was trying before I bought it. Apple needs to put the consumer first and they’re experience first and I think the spice video is gonna work for me..Version: 4.28.46

AnonymousI loved using this app. I was spending a few hours on editing a video, and I loved the selection of tools. It was very easy to use. I definitely recommend it to beginners who want to edit. Although a subscription is needed for a few features. When I went to export the video, turns out you have to pay for a subscription to be able to export it. Now, I get that’s how they make money. But it was very frustrating, that other apps will allow you to with a watermark and a couple of adds. When I went to screen record the video, they put watermarks. Which I would be totally fine with. IF IT WASNT THREE OF THEM. BLOCKING 1/3 OF THE SCREEN. It’s also very inconvenient that they make any text in that area almost impossible to see. Now again, I completely understand the trying to promote and make money. I would suggest, like I said earlier, to allow non subscribers to export videos With an add and watermark. And I would say the best watermark is one, that is NOT obstructing the entirety of the video. Maybe one big one in the middle. That is a bit more transparent then the ones you guys have now. Thank you so much for reading this. And for making a dope app..Version: 4.27.17

A few problemsHey, so basically the app and really amazing easy to work with and I really really love it I got the app a day ago so obviously it is the next day right, and I go to edit and finish my video I made but it says “Project Not Readable” which made me confused and thought oh it probably just because I have so many apps open right so I close ALL of my apps and go back into splice... it didn’t work so I clicked the three dots in/on my video mind you I worked really hard on it so if it was deleted I’d be VERY VERY MAD 😡 so I clicked the three dots right thinking it would give me an option of something that could help but no it had “rename duplicate or delete” but rename and duplicate were gray as in the able to be processed the only one that was working was delete obviously I was not clicking that, Duh 🙄😑 so to this point I’m aggravated to the point I wanna smash my phone...so if you can fix that unless it’s just me because I have a really old phone so it would make sense you know but I do wanna make sure it’s not a bug or anything and if you can work or check in on that, it would be very appreciated so Thank you all for your time and have a great rest or your day evening or night😊 your all beautiful bye!!♥️🌸✨🥰.Version: 4.26.9

Best Editor on the App StoreI love Splice. I’ve been using it for about a year, and I’m loving all the improvements they’ve been making. I remember the old version where I could see the sound waves for any audio I picked out (back when you could only use music available on the app or bought in iTunes... a worthy trade off imo). I don’t know when the update that requires payment for colored text backgrounds came out, but I do know I never had to pay for it previously. I didn’t have to until I upgraded my phone and had to download Splice again. For some reason, I think the devs graciously allowed me to use the paid upgrade for free because I’ve been using it for a long time... and I am very glad they did :) Thank You so much! Unfortunately, I haven’t connected any money to my account yet, so I don’t think I’ll be able to purchase the upgrade for a while. Hopefully it’ll be soon, but until then, thank you devs for continuing to make this app better and better. It never crashes like it used to, and I can do all kinds of neat stuff for free (more than any other app I’ve seen), and even more once I buy the upgrade!.Version: 4.1.10

Back to its former gloryThis is a follow up on my last review: This app is now the best video editing app in the App Store with a well deserved 5 stars. Here’s why: I am so happy that the new version brought back the tools that had been removed and even added more features including: Transitions such as Fade to black, Blur, Crossfade, Zoom In, zoom out, etc. Default settings controls are back: Picture duration, transition duration, aspect ratio, background color and music can now be set all at once (as opposed to doing one by one). You can adjust the sound in the videos for instance: you could lower or mute the volume in a video if you don’t want it to interfere with the background music. Perhaps my favorite new tool that has been added is that you are now able to extract the audio of a video and move it around, this is very helpful when you want to add picture overlays over video without messing up the sound sequence. I love the simplicity of the apps interface and the layout of editing tools is very easy to use. I’d like to thank the developers for providing such a great useful app for free for creators like me..Version: 4.4.0

Quite UsefulI was scrolling through the App Store looking for a video editor that allowed me to piece together pictures into my own video. When I stumbled across this, I was a bit scared to try it out. Never the less, I downloaded it and gave it a shot. This app had everything I was looking for. I could piece together pictures as I created subtitles and tweaked how long it would be. Not only can photos be put together, but videos as well. You can also add sound effects, background music, and almost whatever noise you need to add that little something to your video. I did come across an issue with the subtitles where they don’t change the length at the same time as the photo or video, so you will have to do that yourself, but that isn’t a huge issue. I do wish the transitions between videos and/or photos were quicker, but overall this is a great app to use. It’s compatible with other editing apps, so if you want different transitions, subtitles or sounds, just download what you have so far to your device and input it into a different app. All in all, if your looking for an app that’ll allow you to do all of the above, I would suggest none other than Splice..Version: 4.0.3

Love it but please fix export time/space issuesUpdate: please fix the “Align” text button; nothing happens when I select it now (save for the button lighting up/not)! I’ve been using Splice as my go-to mobile video editing app for a couple of months now. A few things of Note: (1) Importing/exporting videos can take a long time. (2) If I have to wait 10 minutes for an “estimated 1-2 GB“ video to export, I don’t want to find out at the end of those 10 minutes that there is “insufficient space to save this video“. Especially if, when I immediately check my phone’s space, I discover that I have over 100 GB free. (3) The “please don’t close Splice or put it in the background” mandate while exporting is unreasonable. As an on the go user, I’m doing this on my phone. I have literally lost a video that takes 20 minutes export because I was at 90% and had a 30-second phone call come in. Similar things have happened multiple times. (4) I love the transition options between the videos. However, the text appearance is a bit jarring when it’s either there or it’s not. Please option after a few options for text fade-ins as well, for the regular text (not just animations).Version: 4.28.49

Definitely recommendI would highly recommend using splice for making videos and clips. I downloaded it and had to tell my friends about it because it worked so well. There was one thing though, several times I would go into the app to make something and after working hard to epics clips together I exited out of the app for only a few minutes and when I came reopened the app and went into my project it said several clips are missing and that clip would be black with an error sign on it. I could easily replace it and it didn’t bother me until once I worked long and took many pictures that I made a splice project with, and right after finishing I deleted the pictures I fully created on another app entirely off my phone then went into the app and it had the several missing clips alert, and all of them were gone. I was too frustrated to recreate all of them. This happened twice each time on a different device. Though this was frustrating I have made various splice project and out of all of them only two were ruined, so I would still recommend splice for your editing app..Version: 4.26.7

Hands Down The Best Video Editing App for IPhoneI have the subscription version and originally intended to use it for a couple of weeks and go back to lugging my laptop for edits but ended up sticking with it. There are no gimmick features with this app. All the features work to the extent you expect from a professional desktop app yet it’s still intuitive and fast to use. I love that you can control the output quality, and now that they have added layers and masking, the possibilities have multiplied. I also see they announced the upcoming release of a key frames feature which will, again, multiply the possibilities. The pre-set transitions are also notably better than I have found in most apps. The only thing that frustrates me at the moment is that the effects you layer over your video (essentially dynamic filters) and masks, don’t benefit from allowing you to fade those effects in or out so you really have to hide the start and finish in a transition. However, It sounds like the key frames feature might help solve that if it can be applied to the top layer. Don’t know how I lived without this app!.Version: 4.14.0

Great for any levelI have zero knowledge behind video editing, other than trying to find a user friendly app. I’ve used this app on and off for a long time and recently “came back” after I noticed a lot of updates that made it even more user friendly. It is great for super simple editing as well as getting down and fancy with it. One gripe: One thing that does make me still look around for other options is that - part of why I use this app is to transcribe(text) paranormal EVP’s onto the video for the audience. Having to pull the text all the way from the beginning and from the ending - all the way to where I need that text for that couple of seconds takes longer than reviewing the EVP’s themselves. This is a tedious process that really seems like there would be an easier way to put the text where I need it, and be able to move along. It really is a slllooowwwwwwwwww process and this is the part I actually hate (yes, hate; I’m sorry...) about doing it. Other than that I really do love using this app. I just work through that annoying process, because I love the app..Version: 4.16.0

Really great for quickly cutting videosYeah I love this app. I do my heavy video editing/production on FCPX on the Mac. But when I just need/want to cut a video fast that doesn’t require a ton of production, Splice has become my go-to. It’s very easy to use, very intuitive, and the features are dang near perfect. I needed something better for the quick cuts than iMovie for iPhone as it doesn’t do the things that Splice does. Splice operates quickly and exports quickly, which is important. I like the audio features - particularly what you can do with the audio track of video with volume, fades, etc… and I like how easy it is to add audio and music from Apple Music (if you purchase a track from iTunes). The preset project sizes are great. This app really excels and positions itself well for social media video creation. I haven’t used all the features, so I can’t really give feedback on what I’d change. So far, it does everything I need it to. Most importantly, I allows me to create quickly and doesn’t bottleneck creativity trying to learn the app. VERY GOOD!! Thanks, Splice!.Version: 4.24.0

Amazing but with frustrating glitchesI’ve been using this app for almost a year now and I absolutely love everything I’m able to do with it! I’ve searched through several other video making apps and this one is easily my personal favorite. Unfortunately, after I updated it last night, numerous bugs have appeared and have made it almost impossible to do anything. It’s a 50/50 chance whether or not I’ll get to hear the audio clips, scrolling through and adjusting the length of clips and pictures is extremely jerky, my device overheats to near burning within minutes and shuts down the app, and all the audio clips from my previous videos have been deleted after the update. I don’t know if it’s on my end or a major bug in the new coding, but it’s extremely frustrating to work with and I have to give up on the videos I was working on as I can’t actually get anything done. I don’t want to delete the app because it’s always been so amazing to work with but I really hope whatever went wrong gets fixed soon or I won’t be able to do anything with it anymore..Version: 4.26.2

RuinedThis update has simply ruined the app, total garbage.Version: 4.0.3

Awesome editorReally good when it comes to YouTube or any video editing and comes with free no copyright music.Version: 3.5.3

CoolMakes it fast to cut out the boring bits of your dog video!.Version: 3.5.3

Amazing video editing app!!!Does what it says and so easy to use!!.Version: 3.5.3

Recent (mid July 2024) update has ruined the appThe app has slowed down incredibly. It was working fine until the recent update. I would suggest splice roll back to a older version. As others have mentioned, the app is basically unusable. This was my favourite video editing app. If the problem is not rectified shortly, I will be moving elsewhere..Version: 4.28.20

Terrible Changes madeI don’t know what moron changed this perfectly good and intuitive app to this upgraded crap. It’s so hard to resize videos, edit music, add transitions. I bet someone came into this office trying to shake things up being new and messed it right up. The once best app is now trash..Version: 4.0.1

Awesome appQuick flexible does what it says it will. Great little tool for quick creations. I do wish these kinds of apps didn’t lock into iTunes for music vs supporting any sound file or even recording from virtual instruments..Version: 3.6.2
