Brain & Nervous System Pro III Customer Service

I purposely have not upgraded to iOS 11 until the update is complete for this app. The issue I have is that pins are in the way of structures. I would suggest being able to turn off selective pins - toggle. Otherwise it is a very nice app.

$10 is considered a lot on the App Store, but it's a bargain for what you get. Not only does this app offer multiple layer and cut views, but it lets you customize which pins show up so that you can get as detailed or as general as you like. In spite of a complex feature set, the controls and settings are relatively easy to use, letting get to the business of educating and learning very quickly. That being said, the app is not perfect. There is always more it could offer in terms of features and views. For example, it provides several images of the circle of Willis, but it does not--as far as I have figured out so far--allow you to see a labeled view of the circle in the context of the rest of the brain. Additionally, while there appears to be a handy social feature allowing for community discussion of different parts of the brain, either no one ever uses it or the feature is not actually functional, as no public comments are ever available. These, and other, imperfections mean there is always room for improvement. Nevertheless, this app is incredible and likely the best brain anatomy tool for iOS. I highly recommend any student or educator splurge for the sake of knowledge and skip a few days of coffee to buy this app. You won't regret it.

This app helped me understand the neuro spatial relationships for med school. I especially like how the brain can be oriented in different planes and dimensions, and each view has the option to show pins on the various structures. It also offers the option to add notes onto individual pins, or to add your own pins. It's well worth the money--just wish I would have found this app sooner.

This app has a cool layers feature where each layer is a fairly detailed and well rendered surface of the brain, dura,vascular, cortex, ventricles, limbic, thalamus. It has lots of good resolution slices in all 3 directions, good UI, and several animations, including a totally awesome nerve firing and transmission thru synapse. While 3D Brain has good graphics and lots of info and links, this 3D4Medical app has frickin great graphics!

I was lucky enough to catch the entire package of 3d4Medical's apps on sale a few months ago and can't say enough about how they've helped me understand A&P. I'm both an EMT instructor and paramedic student and Essential Anatomy 5 helps me on both fronts. Great job!

This app is amazingly helpful for anyone learning about the brain, but there is one main thing I have on my wish list. First and foremost, I want them to fix the glaring lack of visuals of the wiring of the brain. At the very least they should have something for the basal ganglia and limbic system, but I'd love it if they went even further. Oh, and it'd be nice if they included information (and had visuals!) of the cytoarchitecture of the various areas too! Anyways, all in all this is an amazing app (definitely the best out there for neuroanatomy), but it does have a lot of room for growth.

I use this app to show directional terms, planes of dissection, lobes etc. Very easy to use and great tools like slicing, pen to write on screen\images, and short clips to detail disease effects such as myelin degradation in MS. Love it!

Just Excellent!!!! Used in class to help demonstrate some very difficult concepts.

There is a solution to many of the reviewers who think that it is lacking in labeled structures. Label them yourself. One of the great features of this app is the ability to add your own pins. Therefore, if you have more that you would like to add you can. And for those who would like to add notes in your own words ( a very helpful tool for learning and memorization) you can use this function to do that as well. Overall this is a well designed app. It is not the same caliber as their other apps but seeing what they have done so far, across the board, I believe they will continue to improve this app too. The fact is there is not another brain app that is better than this one so as far as the standard is concerned this is the best. Therefore, I think the price is fair. Some of the other reviews stated they think it is worth $.99. I would like to ask them what they think the work they do every day is worth. I am betting these people are egocentric and would think they deserve way more than that for their work. Things look different when approached with empathy,

This app is a fantastic resource for someone trying to conceptualize three dimensional structures in the nervous system. I only give it 4/5 stars for 2 main reasons: the resolution is quite poor when trying to zoom in on some of the smaller landmarks in the CNS, and there are too few slices of the brain to be able to follow particular structures in their internal courses. That being said, I absolutely recommend this app to be used as an adjunct to higher resolution 2D resources, like a neuroanatomy atlas. It has served me well as a medical student, and the cost is absolutely worth it!

I am currently a graduate student and this app has been great for my Neuroanatomy course. I also purchased the skeletal system pro III and it is helpful as well. $10 may seem like a lot for an app but this is beyond worth it!! It's not even a fraction of the cost of just one of my textbooks and way more helpful! If you are a visual learner, the options for slicing and viewing multiple layers will be your lifesaver! I've already recommended this to some classmates and the ones who have purchased have not been disappointed!

App has very nice images. Rotation is good but not 100% smooth, but understandable with the high quality images. Would be 5 stars if it had more cross-sectional layers in each plane, right now it only has 1 in each. Will change rating to 5 if they add this, and I think it would be worth more too.

This is definitely the best available app for learning neuroanatomy. I teach neuroanatomy to medical and dental students, and i often draw figures on whiteboard to explain the structures. However, the complexity of neural structures demand a 3D representation and this is the best app for it. My only concern is the availability of cross sections, currently there is only one horizontal view and one sagittal view. If they include at least 3 sections in each perspective (horizontal, sagittal, coronal), it would be great!

We run a body work school and we have loved this app to assist our students learn and visualize the anatomy of the Brain and the Nervous System. I am waiting for them to add more systems and apps to keep the educational factor so incredible in our Center. We work with all this in Ortho Bionomy and I feel it is really assisting learning and our skill level.

I believe that I have all of 3D4Medical's iPad apps now, and the addition of the Brain Pro is as amazing as the Heart Pro was. I like how the textures are very real looking yet they are not gross. All the layers and transparency capability is great for visualizing the location on the internal parts of the brain. The colored schematic portions are tremendously helpful too. I can't wait to see what they release next.

I'm a doctor a physical therapy student, and this app perfectly accompanies my neuro anatomy textbook! It makes lab time easy and fun. The logical set up of this app was obviously carefully constructed; it took me less than a minute to figure out. If you're a graduate student in Heath sciences, you quite simply need this app.

Had a small issue with corrupt file. Contacted customer support and got a fast reply that helped to restore the app back to its greatness. This app is great at helping to visualize the Nervous system. I have shown this to my physiology and my gross anatomy instructors and they have integrated into their lectures.

I teach intro level anatomy for Nia Technique during white belt level trainings. This app as well as the muscle & bone apps provide a springboard for appreciating the complexity and beauty of our anatomy. Functional, friendly, and fascinating. I agree with another who wanted more brain slices and more precision up close.

It has wonderful details that show almost everything. You can see every thing that you want from diffrent angles. I was trying reading neurophysiology and this app helps me really lot.

I wish this app had good spinal cross section images and tracts throughout the entire CNS Some medial structures are hard to see there needs to be better camera angles and maybe a way to make certain structures invisible and not just layers

There were a number of features I found useful but being able to make structures transparent is brilliant. Especially when isolating the ventricles. Another great app, well done.

Having the ability to open up a brain that is already labeled with access to immense description, all without the mess or need of another dead body, amazes me.

This application is incredible. As a student this has been a life saver. All I can say is definately buy this app. The labeling is amazing, and the quality is exquisite. It is worth it!!!!!!!!!!!!

This app's images are so vibrant and the features amazing. I watched a movie on MS and saw the normal and abnormal synapses in the brain. Just amazing!

Great for hands on students who can't spend hours in the lab!

This app allows students to interact with the brain in a way that has never been possible before. Holding a (virtual) brain in your hands allows you to learn about its structure in a completely different way from anything other than a physical dissection. In some ways, a virtual dissection can be more instructive than a physical one, as it allows for clear, unequivocal identification of the various brain structures, which eliminates any need for speculation about the anatomy. And your scalpel won't slip during a virtual dissection ;) I do have a couple of minor suggestions to improve the app: The videos are helpful, but it would be nice to include narration and a landscape view. In the "neurotransmission" video, the impulse clearly travels down the LOWER axon, but when we zoom in on the synapse, the lower neuron is identified as the POSTSYNAPTIC axon, as indicated by the presence of receptors on its terminal. After that, the animation is fine. But I suggest that the synapse be flipped, so that the vesicles are in the LOWER axon terminal, and the receptors are on the UPPER neuronal membrane. As it is, the animation is technically accurate, but it is quite misleading, and could be confusing for a student who is learning the information for the first time. Similarly, in the "synapse" video, the impulse clearly travels down the LOWER axon, but when we zoom in on the synapse, that axon is identified as the DENDRITE, rather than the AXON. The subsequent flow of neurotransmitter from the axon to the dendrite is correct, but the change in nomenclature from the axon to the dendrite is misleading. I would flip the zoomed-in image so that the axon terminal is on the bottom and the dendrite is on the top, but make sure to keep the flow of neurotransmitter from the axon terminal to the dendrite. Right now, the depiction is accurate, but misleading. In the "patellar reflex arc" video, the nerve impulse travels down the correct afferent, as identified by the presence of the DRG and entry into the dorsal horn of the spinal cord. However, after the impulse travels through the synapse and down the red efferent, it then travels down the SAME nerve as it entered through--it clearly passes through the DRG again. Of course, the arc does not proceed in this manner. I suggest that the animation more clearly indicate the presence of the efferent's cell body WITHIN the ventral gray, and then the impulse's travel down a DIFFERENT motor neuron to the quadriceps muscle. Right now, the animation is not only misleading--it's inaccurate. Overall, the app is fantastic. Buy it.

This app is amazing...but I do have one question. Does this app support video mirroring on a screen projector?

I teach college-level biological psych. This app is an amazingly rich tool to learn and explore the intricacies of the human brain. An exceptional value.

I’m a medical student going into neurology. This app is very helpful for visualization of the anatomy. I hope 3D4Medical comes out with an app dedicated to the Brainstem, as this is a really complicated anatomical structure that could use 3D4Medical’s touch. Thanks! Jonny

There is so much in this application. It's simply a must buy for any student or teacher. The only thing missing is the fimbria within the brain. I also would love to see additional videos dealing with the effects of cocaine and other drugs on the synapse. In short though, this app is well worth the purchase. It's exceptional.

Great series of apps. Vivid illustrations and good touch responsiveness. I wish I didn't have to buy separate versions for iPhone and iPad though...

Nice application, very detailled. But it should provide more information on what each nerve control and what kind of problems could be generated if they are injured.

This is a great app. The animation is top notch. The anatomy descriptions are general and the app does not include info on motor/sensory/neuropsychological function. Wikipedia info could easily be built in. Still worth the cash.

I love the NOVA series, I plan on entering Medical school in 2014 and I want to specialize in Neurology. I find the brain fascinating and I never thought I would be able to explore it with such detail, without having to locate a volunteer. Now I can educate myself and not go to prison (joking)! Must own for all current/future medical, physiology, neuroscience students, or anyone with an interest in anatomy. Also please update to NOVA series Pro III, I love the changes in the other apps, would love to see them applied to this one particularly. Thanks! I'm a second year medical student and downloaded this app for more exposure to Neuroanatomy. After having our neuro lab I downloaded this app and was able to fully explore the brain. Also was able to locate and identify all structures that my lab required. In sum, if your a medical student this app is a must have.

- many functional areas of the brain are missing. The best you'll get in the cortex is broadmann areas, sulci, and gyri. Nothing like "prefrontal cortex". - sub nuclei in areas like the pons, Amygdala, etc, are not present. For example, no locus coeruleus. - major white matter fasiculla are missing - layers go directly from "brain" to basal ganglia. No way to, for example, hide the gray matter and show the white. In general, layers are not very flexible. - I can't seem to delete my custom pin - rotation is more limited than you'd expect because they seem to be using pre rendered images. - this is probably much better for learning peripheral nerves than it is for learning brain areas. - for some reason there are no public notes on pins. - you can show and hide pins but they are not categorized by type. So for example if you want to hide blood vessel pins there is no easy way to do it I'm only semi-impressed with this app. It's better than anything else I've seen yet but there are still a bunch of little things they could have easily done better.

This app is difficult to use. I'm a medical student And I've been using the essential anatomy 5 app for over a year and decided to get this one to help out with neuro. This app is completely different and had I not known it was made by the same company, I wouldn't have guessed because of how rudimentary the interface is. I like the idea of this app but they really need to come up with some major updates to bring it up to speed with their other apps.

I bought this app expecting to be able to see and learn more about various structures and areas of the nervous system. I have now used the app for a few days and I am very disappointed. While it is beautiful, half of the stuff I am trying to look up is not there! Pretty basic structures / areas such as "limbic system", "anterior cingulate cortex", "somatosensory cortex", "dorsal horn" are not covered at all. I cannot recommend this app.

On first launch on iOS 10, a dialog tells me the app may not work soon. Presumably because it is 32 bit or something. Besides that, the UI is horribly unintuitive. I can't imagine using this for demonstration with patients and fumbling through the UI. Also the cuts on the scans are super thick - like a total of 10 transverse cuts. Not a whole lot of detail over just getting some images off google.

This app looked promising but it was very disappointing. The quality of the images is terrible, the pin method is ineffective and the interface is not very user friendly. I would not recommend it at all and I’m surprised it has 4.2 stars

To be avoided as it appears to be made for a much smaller screen . Everything is blurry and it freezes constantly. Wish I could get my money back.

The app pictures are a little misleading - you can't arbitrarily slice through the brain. Only two or so defined planes can be viewed in cross section in each plane. Adding and deleting anatomy is in very large, defined groups, so you can't tailor your study. Anatomic detail is low; many important structures aren't labeled. Putting this together, the app is OK for someone just getting started with neuroanatomy but off limited use for a more advanced learner. On a practical note, as other users have noted, the application controls are not polished. The by-finger rotations are choppy and hard to control. I would have been happy if this were a $0.99 app, but expect more for $9.99.

I really like this app, but I would REALLY appreciate it and love it if you could add more information to the pins locate don the brain. There are only a select handful of basic common points that actually have information on what they do (i.e. thalamus, hypothalamus, medulla, etc.) Please add more to the other points that just say where they are located. Add that and I will give a higher rating. Thank you for everything else though!

This app fails in many respects. I just point a few. Don't be led to believe by the screenshots that the app offers multiple sections. It does not. There are only 3 sections (1 coronal, 1 saggital, 1 horizontal), right in the middle of the brain. And that is it. Manipulating the brain is cumbersome. A touch causes the brain to rotate, another touch causes it to stop. There is no fine control of position. If one stops at an intermediate angle, and attempts to section the brain, one is taken to an arbitrary section-plane (sometimes coronal, sometimes saggital). The 'transparent levels' are not very helpful. There is not a lot of information in the pia-matter for instance. Although one can search for a label, one is not taken to the position in the brain of that label. Huge disappointment for the price tag.

I didn't realize before purchasing that we are only able to visualize 1 sagittal plane and 1 axial plane. This is very disappointing, as I was hoping to place custom pins throughout multiple sections. For the cost of the app, I was expecting more. This app should definitely be updated to include multiple sections (preferably continuous) in both sagittal and axial planes.

I'm currently taking a Neuroscience class & it's a great application. But I've come to realize that several minor structures are omitted as well. On the other hand it's great the way it allows a student to get a closer look at certain structures that 2-D paper does not offer. There needs to be an update w/ the assistance or feedback of a neurologist. But overall, a great help so far.

As a medical student taking neuroscience I found this app to be extremely basic in nature. It tends to lack detail and the ability to view a single structure at one time. If you were taking a basic gross anatomy class in this app may be of use. But realistically I believe matters is a better option

This is probably great for an intro level neuroscience class in undergrad, but this has very, very few details. If you need to know the lobes of the brain or where nerves go, this is a good app, but if you're taking medical school or graduate level neuroanatomy, this is a huge waste of money.

I got this mainly for a neuroanatomy course and its .. useless.. 1. The “search” option is not good, i can’t just click on the head and have it zoom in on the brain, i have to search up a structure that is inside the skull for it to remove the skull? I can’t even ask it to remove a layer right from the beginning. 2. There are no labels for anything? So essentially if i think maybe that a structure is the corpus callosum, i can’t just click it or see the names of the structures, i again have to search corpus callosum, and see if it points to the same structure. 3. You can tell it to take certain sections but you cannot tell it how. Eg, i want to see coronal sections of the brain but i would prefer to view from an anterior perspective (as if i were looking at the person) which i know is just picky but there is no way.. i have to view it from the back. There is an option to make your own cuts but then when you make your own cuts there isnt an option to slide the cut to fully view all the structures front to back. 4. I just downloaded it on a brand new iPad Pro an its having trouble doing things at an appropriate speed, its buggy. It takes a few seconds for it to register that i swiped or pressed something. 5. I tried going to the question mark (help section) and its just a blank scream that plays music (presumably a video without the image) and when i try to click on a help video it just adjusts the volume....? I have no idea where that came from.. 6. When you are scrolling on the model, it can only go up/down or left/right, it can’t be just toggled to get the view you actually want, which is literally the entire point of having a model instead of a textbook. For $13.99 this app is absolute garbage and i really hope i can get my money back because it has 0 educational value for me.

1. Content is limited, but the app file size is too big. 2. Very poor graphics and animation execution. 3. When you try to spin objects, they won't stop spinning unless you try to stop it yourself. 4. Not in 3D at all.

I was surprised that I could not find the dorsal ganglia .I hope that in a next update we will be able to see more of the anatomy of the spinal area and become able to remove the vertebrae and see what is underneath.

This app is unfortunately subpar. The quality of images is poor when zoomed. The pins and labels work only in a certain orientation. The interface is okay but could be better, for example in order to zoom in the app only allows you to focus on one body segment at a time and so there is no continuous flow when viewing the body while zoomed in. This app really has a lot of potential but seriously needs a major upgrade before medical students could use it as a study tool. I hope they resolve these issues soon because the way it is now it is definitely not worth $20.

It's ok. Doesn't have cross sections of the pond and medulla. More general anatomy of the brain. Not very in-depth at least for me a medical student
