I love this app! It has the same valuable information as the print magazine, plus a fun and detailed interactive design. You can scroll some of the workout pictures and see how the actual movement is done. Is very entertaining to poke around and discover new articles and tips in a page. My favorite feature, I get to save my workouts, tips and recipes under favorites :) The only reason I don't give it a 5 star, is because I did have problems downloading my first issue and when I contacted the only email available, I didn't get a reply. I never found out the reason why of the delay, my guess is that the issue of that month was not ready to be released and I had to wait for it. I am sure like everything in this interactive world; tweaks, updates and patches will be on its way. I just think it would have been nice to get the prior issue, a warning giving me a downloading date or at least a reply to my email. I am not sure if this issue has been resolved, but don't let this stop you of enjoying this cool app, just be patient. I got mine three days later, now I am on my fifth issue and I simply love it! :)
Magazine gives great advice on workout and shows you pictures to improve you self. I love this magazine. I enjoy reading it, looking at different ideas for working out or even there are times when they explain something to you that is a trend going on...,just adore this magazine.
I love opening my newsstand and seeing a new issue of women health! This app is super responsive, smooth and better than a paper magazine. The only qualms I have is that the new edition isn't available at the same time as the print edition... I've seen the new one in stores since last week and it's still not available on the app. Also, probably not app related but I'd rather not get both a print and digital subscription. I wish I could just keep the digital subscription.
The Women's Health app is exactly what the magazine is --- an awesome, cool friend. Another way to get the WH perspective. Makes me feel great, want to look as good as I can, eat right, and stay active. Also, genius tips on how to deal with life, from beauty stuff to guys to what to get at my favorite boutique. As far as function, gotta give the mag props. Mirrors being on the go the way my life is on the go... This is what i read at brunch when waiting for my friends or in the evenings in an essential oil bath after a workout when I need me time. THANKS, Women's Health!
I was a little disappointed at first because I subscribed to the print edition not knowing I would not have access to digital. That has all changed. We are not allowed access to both. I did have to delete app and reinstall to get access to login screen but that was the only problem I have had. I love that digital allows so much more content. Once I am done reading print I can recycle but will always have access to digital copies.

I decided to purchase an online subscription and so far it works great. Love being able to actually see the sequence of movements in exercises. Definitely deceiving calling it a free app. Wouldn't work without a subscription. Like being able to archive old issues for future use.
For those with print subscriptions that sign up for ipad access, depending on when u sign up the ipad access might not be available until the next issue. Check ur account details to see what ur first print issue should be, it should also be the first ipad issue available.
I, along with everyone else, would rate this higher if current subscribers could read on the iPad. I'd even be willing to give up the paper copy (which saves WH $) just so I could read it on the iPad. Fix this issue & I will give a better rating!
I have the hard copy magazine and the emagazine. I love both and the e-version is great because it has special features that the paper version doesn't, like special video clips and other special features. I would highly recommend this magazine app.
I like their new app. I'm actually going to start reading more of the articles now that it looks better on my phone. I wasn't a big fan of the old magazine format. Definitely things that can be improved but it's a good start.
Not only do I love this magazine, but I love its app! The fact that it changes pages for every subject is so convenient. And the ability to go from story to story from the contents page is a great addition. Overall, it's very organized and set up almost perfectly!
I look forward to the magazine every month. I especially appreciate the workouts. Keeps it new every month. I try new recipes every month. My husband and I are focused on healthy lifestyles. He reads Men's Health every month. Keep it coming...
Just got the May issue with the new enhanced app, and it's really terrific. So many cool features...I especially like the frame by frame workout moves and the video of chef Ben Ford. Lots of useful tips. And the big feature on female vets' suicides was heartbreaking and important.
Pages are easy to navigate and with just a tap its easy to locate specific stories using the navigational bar at the bottom of the page. Other magazine apps that I use are not so easily navigable!
Fantastic well-written articles about current and relative topics for women. Great yummy, healthy recipes. Feature interesting (and doable) workouts. Just a well-rounded app, I like to keep in my reading rotation.
I love Women's Health magazine but I can't believe they don't provide free digital subscription to their print subscribers. I love both the digital and print, why do I have to pay double for both? Most other magazines offer the digital version free to print subscribers (InStyle and Shape are a couple).
Full of informative articles and great bits of information. Great reading it on my iPhone - swipe between articles, scroll down to read each one.
It's nice to have something worthwhile to read. No issues loading
Just downloaded the new iPhone October, fantastic intuitive layout :) and great articles as always! But I just bought an iPad, can I go iPhone to iPad or only iPad to iPhone?
I initially subscribed to the iPad version almost two years ago and was disappointed that it was just the magazine on computer. I decided to try it again this month and was pleasantly surprised to find it is truly an iPad version with new functionality and workout journals. Honestly prefer this to the print version. Great improvement, happy I gave it another chance.
Omg!!! I never thought I would like having a magazine digitally but I love this!!! I would much rather have it on my phone now than as a hard copy. I find I read every article now!! I'm in love for sure.
Fantastic deal and so great to be able to access all the extra hyperlinks and videos. Best thing I've ever bought for my iPad
Disregard the negative comments. This app is MORE than you would find in the site. And it's more than you find in the magazine. I've been a print subscriber for 4 years and this is a perfect transition into the new tech-savvy market. Saves on paper too! Think GREEN! The app also has hyperlinks in it to take you directly to websites and sweepstakes. Talk about convenient
Women's Health Mag Negative Reviews and Ratings
I read a great free article on the web that included workout videos and decided to subscribe. The app doesn’t look anything like what I was looking at on the web. I signed up for all access, but on the app I can’t see anything that looks like women’s health plus. There is another app that’s titled women’s health plus but it downloads in Polish. I am not sure if I mistakenly signed up for some thing on that website when I opened it. In the women’s health app, I can’t seem to find any access to customer support to figure anything out. I really liked what I saw in the article that led me to subscribe, but I can’t find that anywhere in the actual app. Hoping to figure this all out, but will otherwise cancel.
I just purchased a digital access subscription on the website and followed the instructions for downloading the app in my confirmation email. After several attempts to log in, it continued to tell me that my subscription wasn’t valid even though my payment went through and the Hearst website says my subscription was active. I immediately canceled my “subscription,” if you can even call it that since I never got to view the digital magazine. Thankfully, I had only paid for a monthly subscription, but it’s still $3 wasted on nothing.
I have the paid, premium membership that is supposed to have all-access and this app is completely useless. The only content is the magazines and your membership website login does not work for the app, so I can’t read anything via the app. You have to go through the website. The whole membership is actually very confusing because you don’t actually have a member hub, so it is very difficult to access all the features you are paying for.
I subscribed to the app, content, and magazine last year yet only received one magazine. I can’t log into to update my account without the hard copy magazine number as I no longer have the one magazine I received over the past 13 months. I tried the chat help and was told they couldn’t help me. So, right now I’m stuck with a $35 yearly subscription and no magazines or way to cancel my account.
When the app works, the magazine is great. But the app often glitches—it will randomly close out, freeze, double each page, and not show pictures. I recommend getting a paper subscription instead.
I’ve had a subscription for a few years and about two months ago the app stopped working. I have a bunch of blank pages in the app. I reached out to the app developer and heard nothing back. The magazine is great but the app is terrible. I recommend a print subscription.
App won’t load issues; developer won’t respond. Ridiculous. I’ve been waiting a month for response from the developer. App used to work fine but has not displayed issues for 6 months.
After several months of subscription, you’ll see that it repeats itself with big headlines and not really interesting health or fitness facts. All well-known facts just repeat itself over and over again.
Paid for the digital access and still don’t have access to any articles after signing in. Tried through website and the app. Always get the pop up out of free views. Please refund!
Pages are blank, can’t download or view. The monthly editions have always been slow to load, but now the app just freezes. Magazine has good content/articles if I could actually get it to load!
It’s nothing like how the website operates, whereas I expected it to be a better functioning tool. It’s basically a generic, old school, magazine, that you flip like a grocery ad online.
It would be nice if it could stay on the “page“ I was last on. In fact that would be invaluable!
I sent a request about missing issues in app. I never received a response. Poor customer service.
I wish it would still hold my place.
Unable to logon and no email for support is responded to. Wish I didn’t spend the $20 on a subscription.
Nothing like print awful
Magazine is awesome, app doesn’t work
I really liked women's health when I first got it but it's always the same thing. I'm not sure why they can't get a variety of different actresses of ethnicities or actual athletes to be on their cover and have their story. I guess I'm the only one who doesn't want the blond Hollywood version of "women's health" on every cover of the magazine. Not every woman is white and blond reading this magazine. There is literally three different women on the cover of the magazine through a year and a half time spread and only one is a different race. What about girls like Hope Solo, Missy Franklin, Zoe Saldana, or Michelle Rodriguez for the sake of variety. I totally won't be renewing my subscription with how one way direction this magazine is.
This format is obnoxious. The former app platform worked so well. They replaced it with a system that only allows you the full magazine file to browse if you create an additional account. Want to use Facebook to log in and make the account for you? Sorry, that doesn't quite work and crashes. This is all for a previously purchased subscription through iTunes that suddenly gets you nothing except a bad "text version" of a few pages at a time. In the current market that digitally pushes accessibility of video content and links to audio and Internet content, this app makes zero sense.
I cannot express my extreme disappointment with this app! I was so excited to be able to read my new subscription on my iPad and listen to music while i work out....... then I realized that was not possible! I am going to cancel my subscription and switch to SELF magazine which you can read on your iPad!! I work with 50 women and have 10,000 patients which I plan to tell them all about this absurd app!! I am astonished with this app and expect for it to be fixed on the next version, otherwise I will be expressing my extreme disappointment to all female friends, patients and family members!! PLEASE DO NOT LET ME DOWN AGAIN WOMEN'S HEALTH!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have a Men's Health print subscription and enjoy the ability to access digital issues on my iPhone. Thinking my wife would enjoy it, I bought her a subscription to Women's Health (print version, which includes digital versions). However, even after logging in with subscription information, NO issues are available without purchasing the digital versions (which we SHOULD have access to). I've uninstalled, reinstalled, etc. nothing. This app is totally useless and the experience has been incredibly frustrating, ESPECIALLY after seeing how seamlessly the Men's Health app works on my iPhone. Swing and a BIG miss here!!!
Apple has missed the boat on magazines. This app takes forever to download, you think it's done and then there's some content that still needs to download once opened. Also, it's extremely frustrating that the magazine just shuts down when you don't have Internet access. I used to have a nook and the magazine downloaded to the nook itself and was all there without Internet access. Very disappointed in the apple version, I may just these through the nook app. The only good thing about the apple version is the exercises have moment and the graphics are better, but that's hoping you can get it open.
I'm canceling my subscription and wish I could get a refund. I used this app to download magazines and read them offline, but with this update, it is no longer possible. I lost all the versions I had downloaded on previous versions of this app. I tried to download a few recent versions, but I still cannot access them without an internet connection. Also the layout is more like a poorly organized blog rather than a magazine. What a waste of money. After 3 years as a subscriber (and 33 lost issues that I had stored locally), I guess it's time to find a new health and fitness magazine.
I've been a women's Heath subscriber for over five years and have enjoyed every magazine. When I saw that they created an app for iPhones and iPads I got very excited and could not wait to unitize them and have access to my favorite reading material. Wow knew it was going to be such a huge disappointment !!!!. I bought my new iPad 24 hrs ago and the first thing I downloaded was the women's health app. TALK ABOUT A LET DOWN! Why have a app that those readers who already pay for the paper edition (1-2yrs at a time) would have to pay more to read it digitally. Really why would I want to pay for something I already paid for.
I am with the many Men's & Women's Health print subscribers that finds it appalling that I am expected to purchase digital copies for $5 a piece in order to read them on my iPad. What is worse is that access was promised for free to print subscribers beginning in November but Rodale has since seemed to have changed it's mind about that. I am already beginning to receive my renewal notices but I think I will take my subscription $$$ to Allure & Glamour (of which I received complimentary 1 yr print subscriptions w/ digital copies) and renew early. Sorry Women's Health, if you don't know how to use the technology...Don't jump in the pool.
I bought a year subscription via iPhone. The following year it auto re subscribed even though I didn't want it. In order to cancel I need to sign in which isn't possible considering the app requires a "mailing label account number" to sign in, which I clearly do not have because I bought this via app. So I'm out $20 for a magazine I do not read. When I contact itunes they simply said it was non-refundable. I don't even care, I just want to be sure it doesn't happen again and I can't even do that! Thanks a lot women's health and itunes!!
I have been a subscriber since the begining. I love your magazine and all it has to offer, however I am deeply disapointed that Rodale Inc. doesn't offer its subscribers free access to digital subscriptions. I carry my iPad/iPhone with me all the time, however I don't always have my print copy. When I am on the go, it would be nice to catch up on my reading. I won't cancel my subscription because of this, but I'd like to ask please allow your subscribers ditigal access in the near future. The star is based on the app not the magazine. Thank you, An avid reader & Subscriber
I would love to have a bookmark feature. I'm the kind of magazine hoarder who dogears pages for culinary inspiration, workout tips and whatever else that strikes my fancy. Or maybe a clipboard that pulls out the highlighted section of the page for future reference would be more useful? I just subscribed to a year and I suspect that I'm going to miss the "real thing." I'd be a happy camper if you could make these improvements!
You'd think they'd make sure their app was in working order for new years resolution customers but no. Purchased a subscription in-app but it won't let me access anything and continues to treat me as a guest/trial user, even though the subscription page says I'm active). Tried all the suggestions in their FAQ on how to fix it (quit app, reinstall app) but nothing works. Super frustrating that they know this is an issue for users since they cover it in the FAQ, but can't help you actually solve it.
I too am very disappointed that my current subscription canot be used. I just went to the "Women's Health magazine website to manage my account. Located there is an app for this magazine for downlading to the iPad. Unfortunately when I clicked the download button, my iPad says "not able to complete this"--very frustrating!! I also subscribe to Southern Living. In their last paper copy was directions to also receive it digitally--so easy and works nicely.
I am giving just two stars because I feel that in the 21st century, it is time for companies to actually offer trials of their product on a regular basis. Im looking for a fitness journals that would fit with my level and interests. I hate the fact that The app asks to either buy a $6 issue or sign up for the $25 subscription before I actually know whether I like the magazine or not. Feels like an absolute rip off. There should be a trial issue!!
Way to take a simple magazine app that used to work and make it completely non-functional. You can view the magazine in the traditional flip thru the pages way, but occasionally it goes back to the front page or the page goes black. There doesn't seem to be a way to remove issues that you've downloaded, so eventually that will cause space issues. It's no good. Quit trying to reinvent the wheel and just let me read the magazine in a normal fashion.
Seriously women's health? I've been subscribing via print for over 10 years and I'm now supposed to pay $20 for digital? Not only do you not cater to print subscribers like most magazines do but you don't even offer a freakin discount! Let alone the fact that the digital is almost twice the print of the print subscription. I'm rethinking your magazine entirely between this annoyance and your horribly designed website. Where's the quality?
I downloaded this not realizing that you have to purchase the issue on the iPad even if you already have a subscription. Why would I repurchase when I get a hard copy? Sure it's more convenient on the iPad but that's just ridiculous to pay for something I already get! This app is getting deleted until as a current subscriber you can download issues for free!
I had purchased a subscription but it never downloaded. I uploaded the magazine app several times and still nothing. I then decided to call and they told me that many people also had the same issue. The rep told me to wait a couple days and no magazine. Luckily Apple has great customer service that I got my money back. Do not download. It's best just to go to the store or get a paper subscription. Its not worth the download when it just causes you more of a headache.
Initially I was excited about being able to read my magazine subscriptions on the go, without having to carry the actual magazines with me. Of course that was until I learned that I would have to purchase an additional subscription just to view it digitally. If I've already paid for a year long print subscription (in July 2012), why would I pay for the same material twice just to view it on my iPad?? Uninstalling
I create an account on WomensHealth magazine's website easily enough, however no matter what I do, the app will not accept the same login credentials. I have tried completing refreshing the app and reinstalling it to no avail. Absolutely no support for this issue. There is one email address they give you for "subscription support" (a link for which you MUST use the Mail app for or it won't give you the address), but after sending them an email, it was returned to me, unsent to WomensHealth because THIS ISN'T EVEN A WORKING EMAIL ADDRESS. Is there any other way to contact anyone on their website? No. In app? Sure, if you can log in first. Idiots.
I downloaded the app and bought my annual subscription, but I can't download any issues for free I still have to pay $4.99/issue!! This doesn't make sense. Update your app to be updated when subscriptions are purchased. I've now cancelled my print subscription and if the Newsstand subscription isn't fixed ASAP I'm canceling this subscription as well!!
I already have a print subscription to this magazine, which I like, so when I saw they had a digital version and an app for the iPad, I thought "Great!". Not so much. The app is free, but each issue is $4.99 which is WAY more expensive than the actual print version where I can get a two-year subscription for 20 issues for $19.80. So two questions - why is the print cheaper than the digital version and why don't print subscribers get free access to the digital version? I'm cancelling my subscription to this magazine because this just seems so wrong on so many levels!
I had no access to magazines while "subscribed" - the app wanted me to pay $4.99 for each issue, so I had no idea they had me subscribed to their digital magazines. Now I've been auto-renewed - I have asked, but I know there's not much chance of getting any money back. Stay FAR, FAR away from Rodale, their magazines and their apps.
I've been a print subscriber for years, but the app is less than you would find on the website. Downloading this app is a waste of your time.
I am really disappointed (and quite shocked) that long time subscribers of this magazine do not have the option to enter their subscription number, and access their issues digitally. Please get with the times and change this quickly!!
This app has been available for quite awhile, why hasn't it been updated to allow longtime print subscribers to view the magazine for free??? Self, Fitness, Instyle magazine etc.. Do this for their customers!! When is women's health going to catch up? Big disappointment!
I HATE that in order to "flip" through the magazine I have to change it to PDF view. I hate that when scrolling to the next page the pages take quite awhile to load and stay fuzzy for well over a minute. For the price of this subscription the app should be better. I'm considering cancelling my subscription because of this. I can't even read the magazine because of how slow each page loads. Very frustrating.
This new app is horrible they removed many back issues. The issues that fall under the new design are few the others now come in a PDF that come out very pixelated. Just a real disappointment I truly wish they would go back to the old version. By the way if you have men's health it's the same. Just bad so far.
Very disappointed... After making a year subscription to the magazine and viewing my first issue, Dec/15, I will be cancelling it do to the vast majority seeming to be advertising... One buys a health magazine to read about health. Had I known that the vast majority of the magazine consisted of ads for shampoo with photoshopped women, not to mention the cat food ads, I would have not made the purchase... I did not buy this magazine to pick out what type of cat food id like to feed my cat...
Unlike other subscriptions where you have the option to cancel whenever you like, this is not available for this magazine. You cannot cancel until the absolute last week. And if you miss, well too bad, you will pay for another year of subscription. Very very shady. When you call the magazine headquaters they have no idea what to do, nor does iTunes when you contact them. Terrible way to do business. Will never read this magazine ever in my life again based on their shady business principles. Please do not subscribe or let these people get away with these type of things by supporting them. I now have to mark my calendar, make sure I don’t forget. By the end, I hope there will be an option to cancel.
Just bought new issue never loaded properly, came back to read it an hour later and it said I had to buy it again. I made sure it had downloaded properly.
I can't believe the digital version costs MORE than the print version! How can that be justified? No paper used, and all they do is upload the pages they have already paid to produce. Ridiculous!!
So far so good
I love that the I can get a subscription now through my iPad. But I'm very disappointed to find that I couldn't restore my purchases from the previous app. I had purchased the October issue in the previous app which had an excellent yoga article I like to refer back to. I'm hoping this feature is available soon.
I downloaded this magazine on my iPad and purchased a one year subscription and it doesn't work. So, they have my $20 yet I am unable to read the magazine... Not a great first impression... It has now been almost a week and I continue to await assistance!
I have also been unable to download his app. I have been billed the $19.99. Not too happy.
I paid $20 for the subscription and can't read it. Nice. Tried to email customer service. They emailed me back with zero information and zero solutions. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!
I purchased a 1 year subscription and the magazine wouldn't download .... :(
I am unable to write a proper review because after paying for my subscription I was unable to view anything. I was not able to download my first edition of the magazine and was only prompted to purchase an issue. I saw that someone else had the same problem so I am currently not happy and will be canceling my subscription. Plus if you go to the website you can get a2 year subscription in paper print for the same price as the digital format. Not good business if you ask me. It gets one star from me only because I have to put something in.
Really disappointed...unable to preview a magazine before purchasing.
I subscribed to the magazine with my first I pad, since that one has been replaced I can't restore any of my purchases. All my other subscriptions were restored. Come on women health get with the times....now I have to go through a big process to get my money back!
How do I delete this free app from my I Pad?
I downloaded the October 2011 issue then was prompted to upgrade to the new app for Women's Health Magazine so i did figuring it would make viewing easier and now I can no longer view the October 2011 issue! How do I get it back?
