BBC Sport Customer Service

Would give app a 5 star as it lets ex pats see what is going on in British sport. However, I would like to be able to view the videos. it quite often state not available in your area. This is discrimination to brits who live overseas

When the ‘new’ format started several years ago, it was good and informative. The picture format is helpful to identify latest news stories. However, my biggest frustration is that it takes several menu option clicks to get to the lower levels (e.g. to view certain divisions in soccer) or you can’t easily always see results and tables in the same place. There needs to be more focus on actual results, trends, latest scores from multiple sports that are more easily accessible on the side of the format, with key news forming other areas. I also access the site everyday from outside of the UK, and so some of the content (e.g. video) isn’t available. You might want to not show these links if they’re not available. And maybe join forces with other sports agencies to widen your news coverage and scope (think Flipboard or Apple News, etc) but become the global hub for sports news? Just a thought …

Except information source - although sometimes when I log in it’s a previous (old) version of news that have have reloaded out of chronological sequence

The information is too much out of date. Too much focus on the the ‘big football clubs’. Rehashes old information.

The app is just wanderfull giving keeping you up to date but I just delete my the app on my phone an I downloaded it again any time I open the app it shows no internet connection and which I have

Since the latest update it seems to be more complicated to find sections and very much directed to my interests. I prefer to see other sports headlines as well. I noticed that the sections now have a tab at the top from today well done.

The site presents you with highly objective news stories and analysis. Having an opinion is the right of every journalist but basing ones opinion on fiction rather than facts makes the opinion a nonsense!

Often the first place I look for results and headlines. Not the in depth coverage you want for teams you support/ watch on a regular basis. Would have been five stars but sometimes very slow to load.

When I don’t see something here I rarely take it as truth when it comes to sports content

As a Brit living in the USA I rely on this app to keep me informed of what is happening in Sports. I usually look at it several times a day and often follow events live on it.

Site has all the info I want about English football and more!

Getting better, but still needs a favorite or some way to prioritize news.

Latest version installed on 16pro. I can't scroll and listen to music at the same time? The ads even when muted aggressively take over the audio output. Won't be reading any articles or game day threads until fixed.

Great content on games

As I am not in UK, this helps me keep undated on the sport I’m interested in. Sometimes, the “news “is more like one mans opinion or a magazine article. I give these a miss as they seem designed to cause a reaction, rather than a factual account. I still prefer this site to others for my updates.

BBC sport is my go to content for all things sport. It covers the majority of sport that I am interested in.

Especially better in Football for me and great to follow the rumours and the national team and my Premiership team

Full house of events. Some better covered than others. Overall package is competitive with peer coverage

The sight is very slow to update current scores on this website Google is much faster and more reliable

I find my sports information in a blink with ease. It’s very up to date and app is very easy to navigate.

I am a daily user of the bbc sport and really enjoy the latest news especially for football rugby union F1, tennis horse racing and cricket

What happened to the Live tab on the app?

I do miss the ability to select the scorers within the fixture and scores.

The only way that I can keep up with football!both premiership,championship!womens and cycling. My tv providers don’t seem to get along with Sky and if it isn’t Toronto Maple Leaf ice hockey! Blue Jays baseball! it doesn’t get covered…and don’t get me started on the USA trash. Long live BBC Welly guy

Just slow to load. Otherwise great job. I live in Canada (from UK originally) - would love to have access to all of the app, such as video clips, but ‘rights protections’ often affect this option. Many Brits (and foreigners) living abroad would happily pay a fee for full access to BBC services - why on earth doesn’t the BBC get on and do this. I for example would happily pay the license fee to have full access to iPlayer, sounds and apps. Cheers

Open up all content to Canada/North America. As a British Ex-Pat, I only ever check the BBC app for all this sport!

Really enjoy BBC sports, excellent reporting on all sports & BBC always show the latest scores & full time results. Very incite full, keeps me in touch all over the world.

I use the international version to keep up with football and cricket on the live feeds. Since the latest update every 4 comments are followed by a full screen, full volume ad to takes over everything. This makes the entire experience unusable. Scrolling down a live feed is just an exercise in frustration now, please take this back to the previous experience as I just can no longer even use the app if this is going to be the way going forward. Editing this review and adding two more stars, they have slowed down the ads and they no longer take over the volume and the screen. They are still more prolific than they used to be but no more a complete ruination of the experience. If they put it back to how it was a year ago, I’ll add another star. Thank you for this latest update though, helped a lot. Editing again. They added more ads back in. Just don’t bother with this app at this point. It’s worthless for international users.

The recent update seems to have come with an obscene addition of ads for overseas users. The live feed has become almost impossible to use, ads constantly popping up taking up the full screen and making it impossible to easily scroll through the content. Very frustrating, this was my go to app on an almost daily basis for tracking sport back home but I’ll be looking for something new. Hopefully this gets fixed.

OK I understand that you don’t want to provide every video of every sport around the world. But for example not providing mini videos of highlights of the World Cup and other major sporting events is bad. The World Cup is the most watched sporting event around the world every 4 years and you treat Brits (or others) who are overseas with little respect. Hopefully you will do better in 2026. Thank you.

I used to be a major fan but recently they have dialed up the ads to the point where any scrolling is interrupted by video ads. It’s so intrusive to the point of making the experience difficult to use. I appreciate the need for ads but taking over the screen is just over the top and now I need to find another app for soccer.

I’m a big fan of the news and live text on this app. However, the latest update has inundated the live text coverage pages with ads. It is impossible to scroll without the video ad playing in full screen.

I like the app and the ease of finding things but I keep getting tricked into clicking on a football headline only to find out it’s woman’s football which isn’t my interest. Please put women’s in the headline before writing something about a woman’s football team. I’m going to try the Sky App now to see if it’s better

This is the main app I use for sports but since the new update it is filled with so many ads that it is barely useable. Every touch now opens a video or advertisement. Considering getting rid of it completely due to the new experience. Would gladly go back to the previous version

Why does this app take so long to load? It’s been a “feature” for at least a year and seems to get worse. There’s clearly a problem in the way content is accessed from the server (have you heard of Akamai?) and makes using this app very frustrating. Often I just go elsewhere. Fix this and I’d rate it a 5/5.

What once was a great app is now useless and frustrating. It freezes and stutters when scrolling up and down that is so annoying it makes one want to delete the app. Loading times also take way longer to the point where using the mobile version the chrome browser is faster. What happened here?

Love the content and reporting in this app - second to none! However the new update (Feb/March 2026) has the worst ads integration with full page ads appearing out of nowhere, taking over the whole screen and audio. Really messes up the experience. Ads are fine especially for such good content but not this way

No excuse in this day and age of fast wifi and 4G. Its consistently the slowest loading app ive ever installed on any of my phones. Its a shame cos the content is excellent. Alot of times i open it.......wait about 15 of the 20 seconds it takes and just close it,then go elsewhere.

Same as some other folks on here, the app seems to freeze for seconds at a time which makes it much less enjoyable. The content itself is still great but the constant freezing is frustrating!

This used to be a great app but lately with all of the additions of the ads it’s becoming unusable. Videos popping up without clicking on them, ads moving around the screen as the page loads, often taking up 50% of the screen. Very disappointing.

What happened to the ability to share a story/news article? Seems to have disappeared with the last versions of the app

The ads on the US version (or when in the US) make this unwatchable. If you try and scroll they take up the ENTIRE screen and won’t let you exit. It’s not a US thing it’s a developer thing. Fix it or I’ll just go elsewhere

Since the last couple of updates, the load times for the app and articles within the app have become really slow.

I have used this App for a long time and just loved it. But the past few months it has been horrific. It takes forever to load and refresh. I am very close to taking it off because it’s just adding stress to my life

Living in the States it is nice to be able to read up on what English supporters and Managers have to say. We receive many games on TV so I feel spoilt that I can watch 6 Premier League games at weekends and the odd game during the week. It is not as good as actually going to a football ground to watch a game but it is still great. Keep up the good work. Adrian Clark (Pompey Supporter - sorry 😩)

Have used this app for years, has become unusable with ads over the last month. Live feed is abysmal with ads, pop ups and video ads just randomly playing in full screen.

The app has good information and layout. The main downside is that on WiFi (not mobile) it injects - or allows my ISP TimeWarner to inject - long and extremely loud car adverts before each video.

App presents the stories nicely. Unfortunately it doesn’t update the stories on reload or pull down. Even tried deleting the app from memory and opening fresh. Used to work - obviously not testing the app when they do updates.

I used to love the app but in the last month they added a new ads setup that keeps going into full screen ad mode while you’re reading live text. (using it from the US). Terrible experience now

I can no longer follow major events due to long repetitive ads interrupting the coverage. Otherwise great!

As soon as you start to scroll lots of ads open in full page. It makes it unusable as you constantly have to play whack-an-ad as you try to read the text. Totally ruined experience in US.

As usual content is good, but the load times are really slow. It’s like a current website trying to load via a dialup modem! Needs fixing ASAP.

Doesn’t update, even between days - nor even offer user the means to refresh. Detracts significantly from ease & pleasure of use.

Normally love the app, but haven't been able to connect since the last update

I wish I’d noticed that it was going to update. It won’t let me update my sports and it is really difficult to find what you are looking for now. They screwed up the bbc news app and now they’ve done the same to bbc sports. I’ve no idea who they are targeting with this update nor do I know what they expect existing users to do to find the old content. I’ll probably be deleting this unless something improves.

There’s been a lot of great improvements in the app and overall I like it but recently it’s been freezing on me when I open certain articles. I can’t scroll or do anything unless I force close it. I’m also not the fan of the new horizontal scrawling favourites on top, too much scrolling, I preferred previous design of that.

Pages keep getting stuck/ frozen. I have to power off and on to escape the page.

Too bad you can’t just have a section on facts without BBC opinion weighing in. Also, your mediation of chats is ridiculous. Suppressing free speech? What is happening in the UK.

Literally you can be looking at the Gallagher premiership results, go to check the table and end up at the women’s six nations or you could be looking at league Bayern wining the league article, click table and it takes you to the champions league table. This app is truly a shocker and designed by the intern on day one. Absolute shocker!

Used to be a decent app for those living abroad, but has so many ads now, reading live text is virtually impossible.

Live ads are a nuisance as they are starting to dominate the app! It takes away the fun of using the app, which otherwise is very good.

Since the live ads update to the app it has become unusable. I’m scrolling down and getting stuck on these ads rather than accessing the content I’d like to read. Won’t use the app until this is changed.

The app is just annoying to use now. I understand ads are a necessity but the constant ads expanding, ad video clips autostarting, just making it unusable.

The new app update has wrecked this up. Ads popping up on the live feed of matches have completely its usability. I will probably be uninstalling it

I can handle ads when they’re part of the interface - it’s part of how these systems stay alive in markets abroad. However the placement of ads interferes with the buttons on page. Not just misleading, actually making it impossible to toggle between lineup and scorecard. Such a shame for such a useful app. Especially for expats who need their dose of cricket.

The Ads have made the app unusable. You can’t read an article because a pop up ad will take up the full scream and even when you hit skip it comes back 3 seconds later.

Used to be a great app, the ads are terrible now, so many pop ups that are buggy and don’t work properly- makes it impossible to scroll through live feed of anything. Garbage

There are so many pop up ads and dominating entire page “skip” ads that interrupt the feed and so you lose your place in catching up reading. This used to be such a comfort in my favourite sports news and live commentary feeds. Just horrible!

What have you done to this app?! My shortcuts have been removed & now I’m getting forced into watching video pop up adverts

What is the problem with listing cars/drivers, lap times and number of laps from P1. This is what your normally do and is very useful. I don’t want or need to see reports/opinions. I have been watching F1 since 1961. All I need to see is the list. F1 have now ruined their app with mindless video’s and no way of getting to a list. Hope you are planning to do the same thing.

Does not ability to display time of fixtures in local time - only in GMT/BST

There's no share button anymore. I have a button to cast to Google Home but no way to share an article with someone.

Why has the show scorers feature been removed from the football scores page. Now you have to click on each game to see who’s scored and the times. Why update it and make it worse.

Please please put on dark mode, change the background from white to black!! Would go from a 3-5 if dark mode

Why do I have an app in Canada for BBC Sports but most of the times I tap to see the video, I can’t. I go to other apps and I am able to see the same title video there .

For whatever reason the BBC Sport app is noticeably slower to load than the regular BBC app. It has changed little is several years. Hardly a beacon to advertise the technical competence of a heavily public-funded organization.
