Great appIt may be too soon for me to review this app since I just started using it yesterday. I’m not a real beginner to crochet, I do know the basic stitches so it was slightly easier to understand what the videos are instructing me. I think the best instructions I’ve read on crocheting came from a beginner’s Woobles kit and from Yarn Pal. The pace is slower for most beginners to catch on with patience. It definitely beats trying to learn from a book. I do wish the ability to save the patterns you want to try becomes available soon. Also, the ability to search for patterns. I don't know how to feelThis app is great for people to learn how to crochet which I am doing. I’m I know a few basic things, but I still need help learning to do things I came to this app for help and when I came on it I couldn’t like watch any of the videos that should be there when you try to crochet something also things are limited and I only had one use for something and I forgot to specify like it was the whatchamacallit. I don’t remember what it was called the AI generated photo of like a stitch that you want to do and I forgot to specify how big it needs to be and how I would like it and what hook I need to use for it and I tried to do it again and I need to pay for premium to do it again which I am not doing because I’m gonna forget that I’m paying for it and then I’m going to lose my mind because I’m losing money on something. I probably won’t even use the near future. I might use it in the near future, but I need to learn how to make this now because I really want it and since summer is coming up, I’m going to need it if you’re wondering what it is. It is a kind of cover-up, but like there’s some holes in it that make it kind of patchy and it was going to be really cute, but I can no longer make it because if I cannot find anything that’s going to allow me to make it so this app gets a three out of 10. Be carefulYarnPal has some really pretty patterns available for free once you subscribe. However, being very careful when following their directions. They are not always accurate. For example, I’m one of their coaster patterns. There were no connecting or turning instructions between rows. They also said to repeat a specific set of stitches six times to complete the rows. However, the picture clearly shows that it should only be repeated five times. I did email support and hopefully they fix it. But if I continue to see this happening in other patterns, I will definitely cancel my subscription. It’s a waste of time to follow a pattern for an hour only to find out there are mistakes in the instructions. Then your project does not come out correctly. I have been crocheting and teaching crochet for 30 years. I can recognize pattern inaccuracies. It really makes me sad because the projects are so cute. AccessibilityIt looks like a great crochet app, but it doesn’t work very well with voiceover, which is a screen reader used by blind people. Can someone please take the time to turn on voiceover on an iPhone and tried to use it. Too many graphics which voiceover cannot read. Some text is readable by VoiceOver, but not enough to answer the questions to set up the app. I wouldn’t call myself advanced, but I have done some design work with a little help from tutorials. I hope you eventually look into making it more accessible. Good for Crochet, not KnittingI first used this app to learn to crochet and it was very helpful. I enjoyed the tutorials and videos and variety of patterns. I then decided that I wanted to learn to knit and bought the subscription again, hoping for a similar experience. However, there are not any knitting patterns on the app. There is a library of stitch videos but ZERO knitting patterns or projects. I contacted the app makers and they stated that they’re working on knitting tutorials but they have not launched them yet. I was very disappointed in this, since I had paid for the subscription again specifically to learn to knit and wanted basic knitting patterns. Fairly good, some errorsFor the most part, this is a really cool app and it will walk you through step-by-step on how to crochet and how to get through the patterns with a video and also written instructions. I haven’t had a lot of problems until now with a pattern. It was with the dango cat pattern. I believe it was round three of the written instructions. It wanted me to do 36 stitches in that round, so six increases in order to get from 30 to 36. However, the way it was written was wrong. If I would’ve done how it was written, I would’ve had 40 stitches by the end of that round. Almost greatI’m new to crochet and knitting. This app has been somewhat helpful for learning stitches and I love the pdf analysis feature. Where it falls short: the pdf analysis and AI chat are mostly good but sometimes it translates the PDF into another language. And the AI chat does not seem to be able to access the pdf analysis. So to ask specific questions, you have to reload it. The other issue I’ve had as a beginner is that not all stitch types are covered in the tutorials. For example, single crochet decrease or SC 2TOG. AI written patterns are incompleteThe cat pattern doesn’t have many necessary instructions. I have many years of crochet experience and so I wanted to try the app. I was disappointed when I tried to make the cat pattern and it was incomplete. After arguing with the AI chat it did admit the instructions were surprisingly incomplete. Example - it stated attach the head. There were never instructions for making the head in the first place. Why so much Pro options?I first saw this app on TikTok, I saw many videos hyping it up and since I want to get into doing crocheting, I thought “might as well” it took me a few days to actually open it and get started due to crazy life. But once I opened it, I saw that I had to either pay weekly for like $70 or yearly which is even more! There’s very few “free” tutorials but then again, with me being a brand new beginner and having no idea what I’m doing, it’s difficult and has to ask for help, several times. If the people who are in charge of the app need some advice from a brand new beginner: Make more tutorials free (like a little stuffed animal or baby shoes), and add more steps explaining what to do. Projects beyond the first few tutorials have no pictures or detailed enough instructionsI don’t understand this app. The first few lessons had very detailed explanations and videos and it was amazing. But once you’re past the tutorials and just go search for “inspiration,” none of those projects have videos or even pictures. What’s worse, they don’t tell you when to set aside once piece and start working another one separately. I spent 2 hours crocheting what I thought was the head and body of a bunny only to end up with a giant cone because the instructions did not specify to separate them- the way it was worded also seemed like it needed to work off the last row on the head, so I still don’t know how to make this. Every instruction in those projects is SO confusing with no video or photo or even accurate instructions. Then it told me the project was completed without telling me to or showing me how to attach the pieces. I have now spent two whole days beating myself up feeling stupid for not figuring out this crochet but the more I practice the more I see these patterns and instructions are just not beginner friendly at all. No yarn weight or how much you will need. Buyer beware! A lot of AIBought the subscription-you cannot search for anything you want-only browse patterns. Everything may be human created but the pattern itself doesn’t match the picture. Pictures posted on ads aren’t even available and they have the wrong estimated time on them. The AI chat feature just tells you how to make a certain stitch (sc,dc,inc etc) which you usually already know. I asked to generate a pattern and the instructions were all magic ring, increase to desired size, decrease and fasten off. That’s a generalized suggestion, not a pattern. Stitch Tutorials ok. Patterns not so muchI tried several patterns on this app and they are so poorly written and hard to follow. I’m an advanced crocheter. I’ve been doing this for 30 years. The instructions for the projects don’t make logical sense and when you ask the ai to clarify it just hallucinates answers. Example the Cat Set. I asked if you work each stitch into its own chain and then back down the other side to get started and it had me making clusters and working in the round. (Incorrect). The other cat ear beanie has a more logical start instructions, making you work the first round on both sides of the chain, but the pattern doesn’t produce the correct hat shape for cat ears and it’s way too small..Montana birdVersion: 1.21

Not accurateI chose the elephant to start my debut on this app and I'm disappointed to say the least. The instructions are missing steps, the AI 'helper' does not help at all and gives extra instructions that aren't listed in the 'introduction'. I might not be the best crocheter out there but I know something was wrong from the start, seeing as the AI generated picture shows a sewn on trunk and what it had me make was a flat piece that included the trunk in some way. Fun fact, it does not. This makes me frustrated because I've spent time on this project and I have to unravel it to start again with a new pattern. The simplest feature is missingI tried the one-week free subscription to YarnPal and decided not to continue with a paid membership. The biggest issue for me was the lack of a search feature. If I want to crochet something specific, like an otter, or find a pattern using Tunisian crochet hooks, there’s no way to search for it directly. The app mainly shows a gallery of photos that you scroll through and click on, which feels limiting. I also like to switch between knitting and crochet, but there’s no clear way to filter or distinguish between the two unless you already have a trained eye for how the finished piece looks. That makes the experience less user-friendly than I expected. Additionally, the branding feels a bit misleading. The video instructions give you instructions that makes the square have holes when you are done with each row. I also think these videos are translated from another language because they do not use correct wording in some steps. The videos also need to be more close up views of the work, so you can tell exactly where they’re going in for certain stitches. If you need to go back and rewatch a step, it will take you forever to get it to go back. The 5 second button is pretty useless and if you drag the dot, it never starts the video where you stop the dot.
