A serious reviewIK a lot of students seem to hate on this app unnecessarily (me includes), but there are some big flaws that need to be addressed. First of all, the lag. Sometimes the pages won’t load or the entire app will just shut down in my face, which prevents me from turning in work. Another thing is that when attaching files sometimes as links or straight from google drive, it won’t let you. It’ll say error and you’ll have to try creating a copy of the doc and see if that works, and if it doesn’t...whoopy-doo try again tmwr. My theory for this is that you can’t submit files that belong to someone else, even if you have editing permission. And that the app/site will occasionally just have a conniption. This is really annoying when you have group projects. Also the organization of classes on the home page leaves much to be desired. Not all of my teachers archive their classes, so it ends up cluttering my feed and I’m scrolling up and down for 5 minutes trying to find a class between the endless swamps of gray. I wish I could pick the order for them or maybe have class folders (?), where I can group similar classes together without completely hiding them away. But yeah, those are the main grievances I can recall right now since I’m in my summer days. Although this app was by no means perfect, I fear the the switch to canva in my district will be even worse. I genuinely can’t imagine that it’d turn out well..Version: 3.39.300040090

Students hate homework, so they rate the app low, but it’s actually well-made.The layout is easy to navigate, I have not experienced issues with performance on the platform in the past four weeks I have been using it as a student, and it’s a very convenient tool for both teachers and students. This app is only rated low because students either dislike doing classwork on a computer in general, or they do not like being assigned homework over the weekend or when they are otherwise not in school. This isn’t a good reason to rate the app low, but they will either 1. outright state they dislike school/schoolwork, or 2. write a fake review claiming it is terrible. I think this is further proven by the fact that all of the other Google apps, to my knowledge, are said to be well-made and have stellar reviews. This app absolutely does not deserve the two stars it currently has at the time of this review. I typically do not even write reviews, but I think it’s so ridiculous that this app is THIS poorly rated simply because students dislike schoolwork, so I felt compelled to write this review. TL;DR: I think this is a great app as are the other Google apps, it’s very convenient for me as a student in high-school. It’s mid I guess…As an 8th grade student myself, google classroom is a good way to assign homework and assignments. But it’s not really fun in a way, we are forced to carry chromebooks to school everyday so you can hop on google classroom and do work after work. It’s really repetitive, boring, and frankly quite annoying to stare at a screen and type as you slowly watch the due date come. It’s just boring, repetitive and annoying at times. Despite all of that though, its usage is quite easy and it works well for homework and assignment related tasks, it’s not google classroom itself, it’s just that teachers rely too heavily on google classroom to teach instead of finding more fun and engaging ways to keep students interested in the subject. Google classroom shouldn’t be abused in that regard, but it works at least. If we find ways to come up with something more interesting for people my age, hearing school or google classroom wouldn’t sound so bad, if we make it seem more like a game instead of a punishment, life would be a lottt easier and more enjoyable. Learning games like Blooket and Gimkit are really fun learning games that teach you subjects, you can also make it homework as well and it’s a lot more enjoyable than google classroom due to its gamification. Google classroom is just too basic and simple to be considered good for classroom use considering the majority of students are under the age of 18, simply, kids don’t find such things interesting, thus the decrease in engagement in class. Why is it related so low?Okay, so I’ve been using google classroom for 2 years now, and it has never been a problem! So ignore all of the one star reviews that say “it gives me suicidal thoughts, or “google classroom walked up with a knife and killed me” or “I’ve gotten spanks for not finishing assignments”, it’s a good app overall and it does not deserve the low score of 1.7, I was reading one of the other reviews and it said”it doesn’t deserve a high score of 1.7” so those kids that don’t want google classroom, just do your assignments, if you didn’t have google classroom, your life would be so much harder, the only thing I dislike is that I can’t find some stuff my teacher assigns me, like in march my teacher assigned me a document of books I need to read, but in April when I look for it, I have to go down and stop right at the one, I just think we need a search bar, and then the app would be perfectly fine. So whoever programs this stuff, add a search bar and ignore all of these fake reviews that say things that are so fake. And remember people do hard work just to make YOUR life easier. A Student Perspective: an Actual ReviewGoogle classroom is very useful and works easily! However, I have two issues, one of which may be a bug: 1. When opening a notification from my phone into the app, it doesn’t forward me to what the notification would be for. Example: *insert class name* has posted an announcement. I click on it and it takes me to the app, but doesn’t forward me to the class and the announcement itself. This problem also applies to grades. 2. THIS IS IMPORTANT. The new notification system of “Your teacher graded your work” is really inconvenient and leaves me in the dark about my own grade. And because the issue above makes this worse, it’s even more annoying. **Please revert back to the old notification text, the one with more detail that says which specific assignment was graded. It’s a good app for all the hatersI think that google classroom is pretty good. I went to the App Store for fun one time and I use it for homework for my school. I saw google classroom and I had an update, but I realized that google classroom had an 1.7 rating. I had to write a review because in school we use it a lot. There is nothing wrong with it and I don’t get the hate for this app. It seems that all the kids didn’t like homework, so they thought if they could give it a 1.7 star they would not have any homework to do. I dont know why everyone rates it 1Overall it is a good way to organize your assignments, but i have seen horrible reviews that had stupid reasons. one of them said "the missing work folder can make you have suicidal thoughts." so you are telling me every mistake you make makes you suicidal? get a grip. it literally helps you out and the whole point of it being there is so you can finish it and you wont get a bad grade for not doing it AT ALL. another reason i saw from it said "you look at the screen too much." you are literally looking at the screen as you write the review. in school, there will be tests that require screen time, especially in college. you will need to do work on technology. people overreact and downrate this because it relates with school which is so stupid. so if you are reading this, trust me, google classroom is good..Version: 3.12.300019391

But for 2 whole years I haven’t been able to change my profile picture because I changed it to many times😒. Hate the notificationsI need classroom for school of course but the notifications do nothing. I get a notification that says you have a new assignment so I tap on it and it just takes me to all the classes. It doesn’t take me to the new assignment which is useless. What’s the point of telling me I have an assignment but you don’t tell me what it is and you don’t take me too it? Either way, I still have to have the app for school. The notifications used to say what the assignment was but then it changed. It was much more useful when it actually told me what it was. If you’re gonna change the notifications just make it so they at least take me to the assignment or private comment or announcement. Edit: I read through the other reviews to see if I’m the only one very annoyed with the notifications, and I am not. Please fix this. Add a warning plsSo I’ve been using google classroom for almost 4 years at this point. By my experience with it, it’s a decent app. But, I do have a minor issue with it. The issue I have is the x beside the assignment. You know when you click on an assignment and you’ll see the doc or slide or whatever has an x on the side? I’ve mistakenly clicked it multiple times losing my assignment and having to have my teacher reassign it to me again. I do really wish they would put a little warning like, “Are you sure you want to delete this page?” Or smth close to that. Just so if you accidentally click the x button you can redo your mistake and keep your assignment. The ratings r frying meThis app is pretty good (coming from a student 🤔) and I haven’t had any problems for the past 10-11 years. But the way this app has two stars is lowkgenuinely funny.. Bad reviews was a trendGoogle class is a great learning tool for students and is an easy classroom website. I use this app for all my classes and I love the mobile app because I can do all my assignments whenever and wherever. The thing that bugs me is the low rating this app has. I remember a few years back it became a trend to rate it low because if an app gets a low enough rating it will be removed from the App Store. So people thought they could get rid of it and they wouldn’t have to do school work. Add Assignment Submission/Date time for students.Hello! I would give the app a 5 star but just for this current reason so it might get attention I will give it a 3 I’ve been using this app since elementary school, and it’s been great. However, I recently encountered a teacher with a specific late work policy, and I've noticed that they don’t consistently grade according to their own rules, often deducting more points than expected. It’s challenging for me to determine if an assignment was submitted on time, which makes it hard to address this with my teacher. Great for school!Hello I’m a middle school student and just wanted to write about how great this app and how it helps me! First of all a lot of these reviews seem fake, unreal, silly and simple user problems that they’re too unknowledgeable to figure out. First of all the missing assignments issue is not a problem as long as you push the turn in button for an assignment. It’s really simple, get your work done by the due date, upload and turn it in to google classroom, and push the turn in button and be done with the assignment. It helps me organize and be aware of my assignments and what I have to do. I highly recommend this app! It’s easy to use, simple, highly helpful and highly effective. It’s alrightI was a kid in quarantine, so I am very accustomed to using classroom, I have used it most of my career. It’s not bad, but I have 2 main problems with it. 1. Does not show assignments all the time (this happens occasionally, and I understand that sometimes assignments aren’t turned in when due, but they should still show up) 2. Every time I get a notification or pop up for a graded assignment, when I click it, I do not get redirected to classroom (this happens very often) I expect to enter the app when clicking on a notification, which is something this particular app does poorly. Small improvementsFirst off, Google Classroom is an excellent application for school and it is very useful. I like all the features it has that make it easier to learn. One thing that gets me frustrated when using this application is how much it depends on a stable internet. The fact that as soon as one of the little 3 bars that symbolize WiFi goes out, the app starts glitching and is unable to load. Another thing is that when I try uploading a video or picture, it sometimes takes around 10+ minutes to attach on to the assignment. Great, But…I honestly think this app/website is one of the best school apps especially over COVID times. I also agree about the ‘Missing Work’ is not the best system but gets it done fast. And sometimes in the website in the ‘Grade’ tab. There is no Final grade or %, which I need to fill out for Report cards. I don’t think this will ever be a feature but, can you add a suggestion test or quiz. Where if you make questions or assignments with questions then it will copy some words down and make questions. Can people stop review-bombing google classroom?As someone who has been using this app for 4 years, I think it is perfect for school and very convenient. The only major complaint I would say I have is I would rather have notifications for all assignments and announcements than just assignments. That might be a fault on my end, and I acknowledge that fully. As much as I hate school, and it genuinely kills me, I would rather use this platform for my work than any other replacement.
