Omer Counter & Assistant Customer Service

I had this app about 4 years ago, and I don’t remember the details of why, but I didn’t think it was worth getting again. I’m so happy I decided to get it this year! My only problem is really mine, not the apps! I have trouble remembering to count on Shabbat-Friday night, unless I am davening and notice the page it tells you to go to! Anyway, I’m happy to say that I don’t have any of the problems other people have referred to in their reviews. I’m using an old iPhone 5s. I like that you can choose which page you want to go to and when. Love the meditations, the notifications and if you haven’t counted yet, the date of the Omer count stays next to the icon. So if I am not available early when I’m notified, I will always see that when I put on the phone and then I realize I haven’t counted that day. I don’t have any of the issues that other people have reported. Sometimes it takes a few extra seconds for the app to come up but it’s just a couple of secöonds, nothing worth complaining about. G-d willing, I would get and use this app next year. I really appreciate this app, it makes counting so much easier. Free too! Thanks so much Chabad! You came through again!

Great app! Just a few pointers firstly I don’t think the app should update the location synchronously on every open as most if the time people have not moved so significantly that it would change their halakhic status and you don't need an alert unless something has changed, the drawer menu should also default to closed as it blocks the main view. Just a few ideas one software dev to another

I can't give a free app that has been amazing so many years less than 5 stars. (Please fix the side menu doesn't change or work with last update) The comments from some of these people here are just plain evil. Why are they counting the omer? Or maybe they should take the omer period to reflect on their knee jerk reactions and how they affect real great people behind this free app.

I would’ve given fivr stars,but the app started kept messing up. Not showing the right time zone, playing without opening the app. I deleted and will reinstall the app to see if this will take care of the problem.

I gave my location but my phone switches to the next day at 8:30 every night. Tzeis in my area is 8:45. Did the app receive a magic psak to switch at 8:30 every night?

I previously submitted a review complaining about a problem with the voice over, but that problem seems to have been fixed in more recent versions, so I have no complaints.

I, too, used this in the past but decided to look into alternatives this year. My conclusion: this app is the best by far! It reminds one to count in a timely fashion, explains the rules where necessary, and is very user friendly. Typical chabad! Thanks

I have used this app for a few years with no problems. Now freezes up, locks up, won’t let me click when I have counted. I hope it gets fixed. (Have tried deleting and reinstalling.)

It’s amazing no words to thanks the people who made this possible also thanks for making the app iPad compatible!!!!! Must have while going on trips!!

This is a great piece of software, and while there have been some bug issues on the first couple of days since Pesach, it is performing well now. As an hopeful Orthodox Jew, I’m very glad to have some automation in customs and guidance on Mitzvot.

This app enables the user to accomplish the goal of counting the Omer. The notifications take away the pressure to remember. The blessing is posted. Sorry others are facing challenges. This app is amazing in my view.

The option to “Open Settings” configured by Apple to appear when you request that the App be allowed to notify you Daily does not work....one must go to settings ones-self.

I’ve used this app for quite a number of years and this is the first time it crashes on my iPhone 13 Pro Max with the latest iOS update.

Great app! Glad I got it again, notifications and reminders working better which is the main point of the app. Thank you!

My only critique is that the prayer trainer is no longer part of the app. Accessing it requires opening a link in a separate browser. Would love to see it added back to the app.

I use this app every year! I really appreciate the meditations and get my secular family actually enjoys me reading it to them. Thank you for this great app!

The only problem I had was on the last day I went to check the box, & my whole counting history was wiped.. what the what? So I don’t know why it did that, but it was quite helpful to me.

At the start of the Omar I’ve been unable to open the app even after I did the update I don’t know what’s going on

The app has some good features such as reminders but parts of it are unreadable and there is no way to enlarge or darken the font. Daily meditations are unreadable and useless in present form.

This is a great app. It would help if the user was able to set the notification time. Currently it sends a reminder before the proper time to say sefira

So glad I got this after not using it several years ago. It’s neat, simple, inspiring and complete. I have 5 Omer counters-this and MyOmer are most relied upon!! Thank you! 👍

Used to be a good app but now when I open it it crashes

I also had an issue with the app not starting but the fine folks at Chabad took care of things right away. Excellent service and grateful for this app.

This app is amazing!! It reminds you to count every night and tells you when it is too late to count. There is also a checkbox for after you counted so if you don’t remember if you counted or not it tells you!!! Really recommend!

Thank you for publishing this. Strong suggestion: build in a share feature do I can easily share today's count on FB or email.

At first the prayer trainer started playing when I opened the app every time which did not happen in past years. Then I saw that the bracha on the day it was was gone so I figured it was because they thought I missed a day so went into the count log and tried to scroll but I kept jumping back to the top. Now my problem is that it takes a very long time to detect my location and once they do and open the app the app freezes within 5 seconds and then crashes every time. I really used to love this Omer app and would recommend to others but now I don’t even know if I can continue to use anymore. Maybe I will try the app again next year but for now I’m gonna try another app.

This app is good for keeping track of counting, but the update has removed the audio, which I relied on. I am still learning to read Hebrew and the embedded prayer trainer audio was helping me follow along with the words. This app actually helped me learn to count in Hebrew! Removing the audio functionality to an external site makes me have to read everything on the app in English this year, which is fine for doing the bare minimum of fulfilling the mitzvah to count the Omer, but genuinely disappointing that now I miss out on and feel excluded from the full experience of saying it in the original Hebrew. With the next update, please embed the prayer trainer for each day again.

The app itself is nice. I’ve used it for a few years, It offers Hebrew and English blessings, a check mark system, various commentaries/meditations to look at, and the UI seems fairly clean and easy to use, Sadly this year around the 22nd day of the Omer it has become very slow, it’s ability to distinguish my location has worsened, it can’t remember what I checked and freezes up after a check to the count or a tap to a different aspect of the app. This has been a fairly lovely app, and wonderfully useful, but this year for some reason it hasn’t done well. Aside from that, any other improvements would be the option to have the bracha sung, instead of it being automatic when counting at night, and perhaps a touch up on the GPS. I appreciate the app, thank you all for your hard work, hopefully the app will go back to being functional once again.

Second update: second year in a row that it freezes at startup. Cannot get past the asking of location. How the mighty have fallen. Update: First night of the Omer and now the app crashes as soon as you try to launch it. So disappointed, was so valuable last year. If it was anyone else I’d have given it a 1 star. When using on an iPad the app freezes when asking your location. It’s still useable on the phone but the layout is so much more beautiful on an IPad. Hope they fix it in time. Also it seems that the audio practicing is no longer in the app but launches their website to play the audio files. I preferred when in previous years one didn’t have to leave the app which helped keep kavanah.

When the app first came out and for a number of subsequent years, it worked great and I readily gave it an enthusiastic 5 stars. But last year they couldn’t get the alert to work, which is the primary reason I use it. This year the newest version first got stuck on location, then, after un/reinstalling several times and turning the phone on/off with each, it identifies I’m in Jerusalem but neither the manual nor automated location options is able to load the times for the app. I could maybe understand this if I was in a very isolated region, but Jerusalem? Others have also having problems with the app. Moadim l’simcha to all! And BeH may this be the worst problem any of us face for a long time to come

I’ve used this app for a few years with no issues until now. I believe there’s some compatibility issues. App freezes, doesn’t always show accurate count. Every time it’s open goes through process of finding location even when nothing has changed. Not sure if the issues are with IOS or something within the app. Have deleted and reloaded with no change.

Thank you for making this app, I learned about it from my local Chabad. However, it does not work. I downloaded it, selected the choice to automatically use my location and then I get an error and can’t go any further. I tried a few times then switched to manually entered my location but same error. I deleted the app, rebooted my phone and redownloaded it again. Still getting error message. I tried to download it on another phone and got the same result. I also tried selecting different cities. iPhone 15 pro max, iOS 17.4.1 please fix, I’d like to use it. Have a good sedar dinner and Passover 2024.

I’ve used this app for a couple of years now, however, after the recent upgrade the app shuts down after starting it up. A few other people I know are having the same behavior.

Everyday I have to open to the prayer. Close it to get the counter which does not record it that night. Everyday it asks to confirm location even though I have granted access. The next evening it shows my count. Also the prayer trainer audio doesn’t work and only English text is shown. I hand used this app fir a couple of years. What went wrong? My wife and I both have the same model iPhone and she dies not have thus problem.

App keeps crashing and won't open on IOS- and it is not my phone- several resets, downloads and still crashes. Other apps work fine.

Been using this excellent app for several years and with the latest update, it downloads to my iPad yet won’t open. Very disappointing. Very strange . The app works on my iPhone using iOS 17.4 but reading is more difficult with smaller fonts. Additionally, I contacted chabad customer service but no response as of yet. Moadim sameach.

I’ve used this app in the past and I’ve never had a problem. This year, the app won’t set my location. I’ve tried to set it automatically and manually and it says it can’t do it for my location. I have no idea why, my location has never been a problem before.

I have used this app for years and love it. I tried to open it last night to start the counting and it doesn’t open. I have uninstalled it and reinstalled it but nothing happens. When I click on the app it starts to open and then goes right back to the Home Screen.

I set this up while on a Pesach retreat. When I changed the location to my home city it would show me the day but everything else disappeared.

Title says it all. iOS 16.3. Loved using this app the past two years, hope it gets fixed. UPDATE: Updated my phone to iOS 17.4. App crashed, but then I deleted and redownloaded and it worked! BH

App suddenly stopped sending me a notification to count. Good thing my dad texted me. Happened last year too, sent a reminder for a while, then randomly stopped. ***update*** HUGE fail tonight which is 36, yet their Hebrew text reads today is thirty SEVEN days which is five weeks and TWO days of the Omer. How many people did you cause to count the Omer incorrectly?!?!?!

With all due respect, this phone app is the reason why one should always use a siddur when counting sefirat ha Omer. When I went to count, it had the next days counting with it listed as the previous days. While I commend the idea of the app, I suggest it only be used if one is in a place where the zman is about to end for counting with a bracha and no siddurim are available.

This has been my app ever f choice for several years. It did not work, nothing happened when I tried to launch it. Uninstalled and reinstalled it and still not opening. Will need to find another or go back to using a prayer book and calendar.

This app was top notch when it was functional (up till 2023) but as at today 24th April 2024 the app is no more functioning. Pls upgrade to make it functional or delete it and stop misdirecting apple apps subscribers

I have used this app for a long time, and in the past I could see the various texts in English. But the English is gone this year. Too bad.

I’ve used this app for several years without any problems. Downloaded it last night and tried again today and it just won’t open. Seems incompatible with my 2020 iPhone SE running latest iOS.

This is a great app that serves its purpose and more, when working. I don’t know what the issue is, but for some reason it worked on my iPhone but it won’t open after downloading it on my iPad. It just hangs on the initial screen looking for my location.

It is very sporadic. I think the first week I got notifications every day, and then it stopped. And then two weeks will go by and one will pop up. They need to fix this, the app doesn’t help if you don’t have Reminders

This app worked well last year. The new iteration requires location to open it but will not allow location to be entered manually. Phone option does not apply when not using a phone.

Since the update, I am unable to open the app. It crashes and I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling to see if that would help, no dice. My husband also has the same issue. Please fix this quickly so we can count the Omer!

Year after year, I’ve tried using this app to remind me to count the Omer. It can’t do it. It never successfully reminds me. I’ve double and triple checked my notification settings. The app doesn’t work. I’ll go back to what I used to do— setting a daily reminder on my phone.

I have used it for the last three years no problem. This year it won’t open. I get the reminder but the app itself tries to open and then just closes. It is up to date and so is my phone. I even tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it, it still won’t open properly. I’m so disappointed, I really liked this app.

Takes too long to load, bothers me about location updates within the same city. Often hangs on title screen, needs to be killed and restarted. Doesn't always notify me at night. There are better apps out there. This one needs a lot of work to make it more user friendly and faster to load and use.

Last year the app crashed on me after a month of counting. This year it's been 10 days and it doesn't open anymore... Too bad, I liked the extra texts and meditations.
