Cardflow: Index & Flash Cards App Comments & Reviews

Cardflow: Index & Flash Cards Positive Reviews

Gives the mileage neededI needed an app to make handwritten flash cards digitally. Like other users have mentioned, there is NO other app on the market. Quizlet is the best for simple term and definition, but when needed to write out formulas for math that look intuitive and don’t take an absurd amount of time - either to type out or take a picture of a paper version (assuming you have the paid version of quizlet) are not even options, thus there wasn’t another substitute for paper index cards except this app. Where else are you able to write terms and draw something like a comic to remember it on the back? I wouldn’t have a clue, and it’s bizarre that it doesn’t exist anywhere else..Version: 6.1

Finally - a functional Index Card app that looks like real Index CardsFinally, a decent Index Card app. Simple, intuitive, and easy to use. It has it’s quirks like any app, but they have done their best- and done it well. I’ve tried others (including Flash Card apps), but this simple app outshines them all. I’ve used ‘real’ index cards for years, for many uses. I received my RN degree with the help of the cards, inventoried my home, my LP collection, and many others I’m now writing a narrative of my life, and the app lets me use what works for me. It’s not perfect, it has its quirks, but the learning curve is simple. I gave this a 4 because no one, and no app is perfect. And the hefty price tag may be difficult for some, but the free version works well. Perhaps a student discount might be offered…. If you want a simple and functional Index Card app try this one..Version: 6.2

Great App! Intuitive!I needed something for mind-mapping and this app fit the bill! I used to use index cards for plotting out screenplays, but haven’t used those in a long time. Plus, who wants to have a bunch of cards rubber banded together? This app allows me to do the same thing and save space. I use it on my iPad and can record my ideas quickly. It seems to help with my creative flow. I began using Scrivener’s Scrapple on my MacBook and they didn’t have a version for the iPad. This is very close to that type of concept and I love it..Version: 5.7

PotentialThis app has the basics that I am looking for. However I wish that I could zoom out to see all my flash cards on my board. However for some reason there is a limit to how wide a view there is. Also I wish there was an attached extension that would allow me to go through the flash cards like quizlet. Lastly I wish you could have certain sections on a flash card board that when you go through them it stays in that section. Instead of just going to the right like you’re reading the flash cards on a page. In the end, I do admit that it is perfect for making flashcards with your stylus. However when it comes to studying the flash cards, there is a lot of work that could be done to the app..Version: 4.6

Good idea, lacking useful features and innovationI really like the idea of handwriting Flashcards; however, this program is almost useless due to the lack of useful features and very not intuitive to use. My recommendations for future improvements are below: 1. Don't reinvent the wheel. Go get ideas from other flash card apps and combine useful features and get rid of useless ones. Some useful features are: - easy to use menu (use common sense and use beta testers for feedback) - handwriting feature with different pen styles and colors - accessibilities to writing panel and tools (see Notability and similar note taking apps) - quiz mode, flash card mode, matching, fill in the blank (see Quizlet and similar apps) 2. Full version costs too much for such a poor app. Perhaps with serious improvements. Unless you can make it better than all others on the market, or combine key features, it's really not worth downloading. 3. I'm tired writing recommendations. Look around at other similar apps before wasting time making new ones. Good luck and hope to see some future improvements..Version: 2.5

Good but...This app is the best (and perhaps only) flash card app that lets you write on your cards. However, the re are a few issues I have with it, first, it looks like it hasn’t been updated in six years. Next, having folders to organize card sets would be beneficial for organization. Lastly, maybe have some other colors than black to use? We also have iPads with the ability to detect pressure sensitivity, having a writing layout like notability’s would be really nice altogether. I’d say it’s not a bad app by any means, could just use a visual update and some better writing options..Version: 6.0

BeautifulThis app is amazing, finally I have a place to quickly organize and move around notes for all of my creative projects and studying. I’ve been playing with the Cardflow+ demo board and will definitely buy the upgrade once I have the spare money, the only thing I wish it had was to be able to put multiple photos on one card but that could be because it’s just a demo so we will see once I buy the upgrade!!.Version: 4.7

GeniusI started teaching a class a week ago and had trouble remembering everything. So I switched to note cards which also provided flexibility to jump around in the lesson. But I was quickly burning through paper cards. I thought to myself, I wish there was an app that would allow me to use index cards on my iPad. This app is exactly what I was looking for. I’ll be upgrading to the paid version shortly. Thanks for making this app!.Version: 4.7

Bless you guysIdk how else I would be dealing with grad school without this app. Other flash card apps only allow typing and I absorb information better when I physically write things down. Buying flash cards costs money and takes up actual space, it’s also not that good for saving trees, you guys rock for making this app. Thank you!.Version: 6.0

Solid but a few issuesThe overall app is really handy for rearranging and color-coding cards easily, and I intend to buy the full version at some point as I use it often for plotting stories. My only issue is when you’re on a board it very frequently “dims” grey and you have to back out to the main list of boards and go back in order to continue working on that board. It’s minor but with how often it happens it becomes frustrating..Version: 6.0

In general, pretty goodPretty easy to use, but it’s incredibly basic. I understand that there’s a “pro” version but I don’t feel that it should be necessary to pay $15 for the ability to highlight and have different colored pens. Overall, I think it’s good, but I wish there was a less expensive way to upgrade, or that there should be more tools to use. I do appreciate how it allows me to hand write my note cards and draw diagrams, though!.Version: 6.2

CardFlow Stands AloneI have outlined podcasts, scripts and lesson plans with cardflow. It is simple to use and provides excellent exporting options. Which is vastly underestimated till you want to do do something with your work. They work to keep it updated and respond to questions quickly..Version: 6.2

Great PotentialThis app has great potential, I really like the layout-it’s logical. That being said, the functionality isn’t as smooth as what I’d expect for an Apple app. My biggest gripe is the way I constantly move cards without intending to because of how the app is setup. Suggestion, in order to move a card, make us long press for almost a full second, or, make it a toggle button to enable moving the cards around. The current implementation is horrible..Version: 4.4

Very useful app! But, it’s missing a basic feature. It would be great if there were a way to create new cards that retain the template and color settings from the previous one. A default template setting per board would also be appreciated. Aside from that, I think this will be a very useful tool..Version: 5.9

Not fully for storyboard!Unfortunately, storyboard lacks a very important feature: reorder cards. For now the order of cards is entirely free. If you want reorder them you have to do it manually. If there are lots of cards, that could be a nightmare. the cards in a storyboard are supposed to be in strict order, that is how the story goes. So to be a storyboard app, Cardflow needs add this feature. I tried the link function, I think it is a meaningless feature..Version: 2.5

How to become a master of post’itsThis is superior tool for organizing and rearranging ideas concepts and plans. Wonderful for brainstorming. I hope the developers create iPhone and Mac versions. Cross platform synchronization would allow an enhanced ability for collaboration and maintaining continuity..Version: 6.2

Good optionI haven’t tried many apps for taking notes and organizing ideas but just the basic free version of this app with minimal tools and such works amazing for me. Easy to use UI. And very little restrictions and dead ends. Good job app team..Version: 6.2

Super easy to use and organize!I only just downloaded this app, but I’m already blown away by how well-thought out and simple to use it is! Highly recommend for the Boards feature alone!.Version: 6.4

Amazing! Just what I needed! The free version already incorporated a lot of the stuff I need, and no ads, unlike a lot of other annoying apps. I will upgrade to the full version soon when I have a little more money on hands, as the Export to pdf function is very desirable!.Version: 4.6

Exactly what I needed. This app is great. It does everything I need it to do. It’s extremely user friendly and the work flow is perfect. I would recommend this to anybody in school, doing work presentations, developing a story board, or outlining podcast material like me. I hope this never goes away..Version: 6.0

Smooth lil app For the powerful mindsI like the idea that I will soon be completely organized. This is no small statement lol🤐 I recommend this one for us with stacks of papers that have countless ideas everywhere. Google MrBaileyBaby and jam with me a bit while you use this effective app. Thanks to the developers.Version: 4.1

Finally, simplicityToo many apps today try to impress you with a million features I can imagine anyone having the time to learn how to utilize in the first place. When it comes to apps, give me MINIMALISTIC design and function! That’s what you get here!.Version: 6.0

Fix that default.I really like this app. My only issue is the default is set to draw instead of write. They’re literally index cards with lines for writing. I’m constantly having erase tiny dots every time I want to write something. Please fix. Default to write - Choose to draw. Simple..Version: 6.4

Easy to useWithin 5 minutes after reading the welcome cards, you can start creating your storyboard…..Version: 6.2

This would be 5 stars but........This app is crazy cool, I can take notes, write reminders, write memory scriptures, and even use as flash card for my kids spelling words and math equations....but...why can't they be saved!!!!! Lol. I wish I could save them, supposed the app crashed and everything got deleted?? Great app developers please fix, or did I miss something??.Version: 2.5

FeedbackI like this app, but I cannot prevent the index cards from flipping unintentionally when writing with the Apple Pencil. The pressure of my palm keeps causing the cards to flip. If I wasn’t having this problem, I would continue using the app and would consider upgrading. However, I’m may move on to something different..Version: 5.9

Very straight forwardI’ve used so many flash card apps but I love how simple this is. Nothing fancy and this is exactly what I need for school studying! It’s really like having a pen and index cards..Version: 5.9

Could use a few tweaks... but really good.I just got the Cardflow free version... and really like it. It’s pretty intuitive and easy to use. It’s not perfect. But really good I really like that you can use an Apple Pencil. It’s just like writing flash cards by hand. GREAT! I wish the pencil point was finer and we could change colors of ink. I wish there was an easier way to review the cards and flip them over other than the small grey button. I wish I could import photos/diagrams. Thanks for making a very good product..Version: 6.0

Great if you want hand write flash cardsMy only gripe is that every time you open the app or a new set, you have to adjust the card to be able to flip it over or move on to the next card..Version: 5.9

Pretty goodSo far, I like it. I would’ve given it more stars if i could change the color of the cards and also have multiple font sizes within each card..Version: 3.1

Like the app, terrible palm rejectionI really like this app, but it has terrible palm rejection for Apple Pencil. It flips the cards, draws random lines and dots. The program itself is a great thought mapping experiencing with being able to move cards around. I would enjoy it much more with the extra Apple Pencil sensitivity..Version: 6.0

Almost perfectThe color palette doesn’t come up when I tap on the pencil icon also if this had a highlighting option it would be perfect. Really organized though.Version: 4.6

Missing one important thingThis looks good. This is almost what I need. The one essential feature that I feel is missing is the spaced repetition and scheduling aspect like what anki does. If this feature was implemented than I would definitely buy the + version..Version: 6.0

Has everythingThis app is like a combination of all notecard apps in one, and then some! The only problem is you have to pay to upload images..Version: 3.1

No flashcard option?Great if we could only have the option to let the index cards flow as flashcards for memorizing stuff. Right now it’s really a pity you don’t have that option.Version: 6.0

Brilliant if you’re planning your novelSo easy to use. Intuitive. Useful to outline your novel..Version: 5.9

Good app but lacks essential featuresI understand that there is a pro mode with expanded features but for the standard version I would expect at minimal that it would contain the features advertised, ie different colours of ink at least. There is also a weird menu you can drag up from the bottom that seems to serve no purpose. Edit: support for copy and paste of drawings should be added.Version: 6.0

Great app, loving it! Possibility to change card ratios?Such a great app, very flexible definitely see the value for many type of projects. I wonder if it could be possible in a future version to change the format of the card for a specific board? I’m working on card game prototypes and of course Cardflow is a fantastic tool for it! But I’d like to be able to work in other card ratios. Could be useful for wireframes project as well. Even if it’s in the plus version only, I’d be more than happy to pay for it :).Version: 4.7

Makes life easyIn a world that values storytelling in so many aspects of life, this app is an invaluable tool for compiling ideas and making them flow coherently. Thank you for putting the effort into making this app.Version: 3.7

I like itGreat way to plan projects.Version: 4.7

I love it! Except one thing...Great app, nice an simple and useful for brainstorming. Only thing that is difficult for me is that I can’t have different size fonts in the texts. Only complaint! The rest is great!.Version: 4.6

Clean and simpleMind maps are fine but can get cluttered. Cards help simplified ideas and keep them straight. Helpful..Version: 3.7

No hesitation - try it!I’ve spent hours going through apps related to Mind maps, notes, story boards, reviews, articles etc... and was immediately pleased with this free app and how it functions. I’ll try it for a couple of days to be sure of my use BUT if I’m using it as much as I think I will I fully intend to purchase the ‘plus’ version. Success!.Version: 3.1

Excellent toolLove the ease of view and the ability to organize my thoughts!!.Version: 2.3

Easy Visual ToolJust the perfect visual tool for quick mock up of important concepts and projects. I just use an iPad so this is a brilliant tool for the form factor and offers versatility in features..Version: 2.2

Picture book story boardWorking well thus far.Version: 2.2

I like itGood!!.Version: 1.2

Excellent for an intro version!I use this for indexing my screenwriting process and quite like it. It has however, crashed a few times during use and other bugs are certainly starting to show. There are a few reviews that complain about the lack of features (frills, really) which would be fair if this were the only version available. But do keep in mind that there is a paid version as well, with additional features. Nice and minimalistic. Would be a five star app if not for the bugs..Version: 2.2

Great free app, with plenty of featuresI love this app and I will definitely try the paid version. The only reason why I rate this one 4 stars instead of 5 is that the pencil support could be better. It works well, it just feels a bit wonky compared to other apps. Regardless, it's a very good app and I will recommend it..Version: 1.7

Potential is thereNeed colors for ink. More font choices *** stylus support *** Get this and I'll upgrade to pro version. UX is still rough... You move from left to right on the top tool bar, as you work with different tools. Type is on right side; draw, erase, select (lasso) is on left. When you select the type option those tools are now on left. So in type mode you cannot use other tools.... Only one type size per card. There is more. But I'll detail to the developers..Version: 1.3
