Love it but 12.3 problemIOS 12.3 seems to have broken the URL / search input field. When text is entered to attempt to do a Google (or whatever) search, or when entering a URL, instead the current page is searched like a “find” command. A failed “search in page” message box pops up in either case which leaves you and the browser dead in the water. You can still select from your bookmarks but that’s about it. Can’t type in anything new, unless you manually add a bookmark for a search engine or something else. I have not been able to fix this by changing anything in settings, not even “combined URL+Search Field”. This is a real show stopper with the 12.3 update. The other problem I have always had is that on older style textual “bulletin board” type forums that involve lots of hyperlinks up and down the page, iCab usually doesn’t “Go to” the right place when you click a link; in other words it goes to the wrong message which is a bit annoying. It sometimes returns to a previously visited link and in other cases seems to go some fixed percentage of the way up or down the page. So I have to do a whole bunch of manual scrolling to get to the right place and this is constantly! Even given the above, iCab is still pretty much the only browser I’ll use on iOS (but the URL field problem has to be fixed pronto!).OldVMSGuyVersion: 9.12.2

A great app!!!Okay so I don't even know where to begin lol. I am totally blind and use this app with Voiceover. I love how accessible it is, and that the creator of this app bothered thinking of us, as many do not think to make apps accessible with voiceover. First of all, you can customize what commands you want to use for gestures and bluetooth keyboards. I use a bluetooth keyboard and so this is awesome. I notice when I have the option to add a new command, it's the same options that already have commands generally. Hoping for new ones in the future. I also like that there's a download manager so I can download anything I might need. I sent an email with some questions to the developer and he was quick to get back to me with answers, and also very patient haha. He has already offered to fix a bug I discovered unintentionally involving Voiceover and brightness. Apparently when you turn brightness down to 0 on the app, Voiceover is unable to read it. This makes me wonder why I can adjust brightness to 0 on my IPad itself. Maybe 0 isn't really 0 on the ipad? Anyway there is more I could add but this message is too long as it stands. Haha. Great browser with two important suggestions1. It needs a dedicated night mode like in Opera. Simply being able to lower the lighting isn't enough because only the main browsing is affected. Since earliest days of Mac and iOS!ICab has been around since the earliest days of the Mac and iOS and it seems to have matured leaps and bounds. I spent the last two hours just pouring through all of the deep, deep settings that allow you to configure this browser to do literally everything you can imagine. Not for the casual browser crowd - of course you can ignore the infinite options, but if you spend time tailoring your experience you are greeted with what I’d call your personal Internet. Dark mode is awesome... full screen browsing is immersive and impressive especially on the newest huge screens. I didn’t know half the search providers supported even existed. Only browser with “Bookmark all tabs” featureI’m dumbfounded that this alone doesn’t exist in all mobile browsers. It’s such a killer feature for productivity, focus, and keeping sessions clean and organized. Not to mention performance. How many times have you used mobile Chrome or Firefox to find yourself with infinite ([:)]) tabs open? I use OneTab all the time on my Mac. Now with iCabMobile and its killer Firefox Sync and Dropbox Sync features, I can maybe get some work done on my phone when I finally stand up, move, and get away from my laptop, and not feel like I’m living in two different unsynchronized worlds when I have to go back. 5 stars! Getting buggierLet me preface this review by saying that I've used this browser for a few years and it's been great... until recently. Maybe it is because the progression of iOS versions are breaking things, but iCab doesn't always work now, and the settings are becoming too complicated. I frequently get timeout messages when clicking on the result of a search. Some pages freeze. The developer is very nice and puts a lot of time into this, but when the suggestions are things like "try disabling filters" or "use the modern Web engine, not classic", that is a sign that there are perhaps TOO many settings that people really shouldn't need to know about. If Safari opens a page and iCab doesn't, that tells you something is wrong. I tried Edge and it actually isn't too bad..Gianmatt9Version: 9.14.7

Desktop-Class BrowserThis is hands-down the most powerful browser available for the iPhone or iPad. It has all the features and abilities of a full-fledged desktop browser. There’s been so many times I wanted to do something that’s easily done on a desktop, looked and found the exact same feature in iCab. The browser supports downloading and installing additional ad-blocking and privacy scripts, making it one of the safest browsers to use. Finally a replacement for Atomic WebThis is quite honestly one of the best browsers for iOS out there right now. It has incredibly granular customization and doesn’t feel like a gimped desktop browser, unlike the mobile versions of Firefox & Chrome. I’ve been looking for something to fill the browser sized hole left in my heart after Atomic Web stopped updating, and this is definitely it. One thing I will say is, some people might not be willing to take the $2 leap of faith, maybe offer a free version with locked features? Definitely my new daily mobile browser!.KfrehiVersion: 9.10.5

Consistently amazingAlexander does it again and again. iCab Mobile is the single most sophisticated and full featured browser available for iOS, a title that it has held for years. With support for the modern web engine (which is admittedly flakey, but this is not under the control of the app developer) iCab Mobile takes the browsing experience to another level. Support for many advanced uses and web apps makes this browser one of, if not the, most important apps I have today. Just keeps getting betterI’ve been using this app for several years, across multiple phones, and it regularly comes out with new releases that improve it. But even if it didn’t; even if it were only updated to be usable on each new phone and version of iOS that came out, it would still be the most feature-filled, customizable browser by far. Goodbye Safari crashes, awkward ux, repressed optionsThis thing is Amazing. It can handle all pages with out using all the phones memory, it is super efficient. Goodbye Safari’s crashes and reloads due to crappy coding and careless memory management. The Ux is simple and obvious, you can have tabs like you wanted them, and not having too reboot after all Safari mem leaks. Game changer!I got this app quiet a while ago but I didn’t see any use for it in the beginning. Recently, there was an update (or already I noticed it recently) which made importing filter lists easier which is a game changer. I could do a ton of stuff which I can’t do in safari. The BEST alternative browser in the AppStoreI used to run iCab on my Mac back in the day, when I was also running Atomic Browser. Both were VERY configurable, and as time and OS upgrades passed I missed both & moved on... Recently I’ve been looking for a browser that has as configurable UI, like a “dark theme” because white toolbars & backgrounds are just plain eyeburn. So I revisited iCab, and dropped US$2. I’m NOT disappointed at all, iCab is wicked quick and plays well with AdGuard Pro. Even if you don’t have an outside Ad/Tracker blocking solution, iCab can help out there too. Great Developer ResponseAfter doing the latest update yesterday, the app would crash on startup. I contacted the developer. Within a couple of hours he had discovered the fix and replied back. Safari on steroidsICab’s level of customization and features is unmatched on iOS / iPadOS. For instance, the layout is fully customizable. This browser may not be for the average Joe, unless pre-configured. However, if you are willing to spend time to tweak your browsing experience, iCab mobile does so much more than other browsers. Some of my favourite features include mobile split view (both portrait and landscape) and filter list support (Easylist, for instance, blocks lots of junk) and its integration with lots of services such as Firefox Sync. iCab Mobile is easily the most complete and customizable third-party browser on iOS / iPadOS. New version needs workI’ve used this as my primary browser for over a decade. It’s been fantastic. The new rewrite has shortcomings however. The app freezes after starting it and then again about 20 seconds later. You can’t type or surf till these mandatory and intrusive pauses are done. I used to use the classic view which has been removed. The tabs are now an inch long and too much of the space is taken up with “… X” to make out what is loaded in each tab. Version 11 on iPadOS 15.8.3This is my default and favourite web browser on iPad. Unfortunately, the recent major upgrade version 11.0 broke the app and it cannot be launched on my iPadOS 15.8.3 anymore. After upgrading to 11.0, it only opens a completely blank screen with “iCab Mobile” written in the center. I look forward to a fixed version to change my rating to 5 stars again. Update: I found that the new version 11.0 was not able to load itself using the remaining settings and data from the version 10. Offloading the app and reinstallation had no benefit. I had to completely remove the app and reinstall it. It did the job. Unfortunately, I lost all the bookmarks and settings but considering the amount of the app improvements in version 11, it was worth it. I noted another issue with the new Filtering feature which allows you to directly select webpage elements to filter. Filtering by this new tool does not create any visible entry in the “User-defined” Filters settings. As a result, you can’t modify or remove such filters. There is no issue with the original method of creating a filter inside the Settings > Filter section. The developer’s great efforts not only deserve 5 stars rating, but also some Tip Payment via the in-app purchase. Well Done!.TiredSubscriberVersion: 11.0.1

OK. Not Fantastic.Safari still seems faster starting up and reloading on an iPhone 3G (not sure on a 3GS). I like the full page mode, and the scroll page is helpful on really long pages (but not really helpful for normal pages). The tabs don't really work like real tabs, just other pages. Over the top everything you want browser.This browser has every feature you could ever think of and you can customize everything. I used to use sleipnir however they never listen to their English customers and I consider it totally inferior for the first time ever after discovering this app. My favorite feature is the large graphical tab display to show thumbnail and detail titles of open tabs where you can also rearrange their order. Version 11 is really brokenThis was my go-to web browsing app for private browsing. The user experience was awesome. The tabs worked well. And most importantly, when I switched to another app, it would hide whatever I had on screen. With the “privacy” features fully enabled, it would completely clear my history, cache, and any open web pages for ultimate privacy. But all of that is now broken. It doesn’t work at all… there is no privacy, and these key features no longer work. They should work, but they just don’t. And, the new version has several UI changes that make it much harder to use. For example, tabs are smaller now, so tapping on them is difficult. Tap-and-hold on a link, so that I can open it in a background tab, only works some times now. And trying to get a video to play (one that you have to tap on to start playing), doesn’t work most of the time either. Scrolling the playback marker in a video, by tapping and scrubbing the place in the horizontal scroll bar doesn’t scrub the video any more. Instead, it is being interpreted as a screen swipe, which causes the window to move, or to switch to another tab (which I had to disable), or to simulate pressing the back button. Horrible update ruined a once great browserIcab used to be intuitive, simple, and felt focused on usability. It was a lesson on how to make a modern browser that had just the right features and users enjoyed using. The latest update tosses all that. Everything takes extra taps, from switching profiles, tap tap tap, to attempting to view or browse downloaded images. The photo viewer / slideshow was a feature of perfection, now destroyed with tiny buttons in the center bottom (you must literally set down your device and obscure the screen with your hand to tap arrows to swap between photos, as opposed to the prior right / left side of the screen tap. Oh, and Animated gifs? No longer browsable in the viewer without 'tap tap tap' to open each individually. Deleting all of your tabs randomly also seems to be a new feature. Usability is now cumbersome & feels like "work". The only good thing left is the independent download management, but even that has been updated to take more taps and generally be more difficult. icab now genuinely causes frustration and grief to use, which is sad to experience after over a decade of it being near perfection. Crashes, Tabs don’t load, Memory Drain(Note To Devs: If you Add Encrypted Password Protected Bookmarks, I will literally spend another $10 and give you 5 stars haha) Now to my issues; If you open too many tabs you will never be able to open the app again without it crashing. All tabs will be lost indefinitely since you’re forced to go to iPhone iCab Settings and Logout Users or reinstall the app. Activating “Delay loading background tabs” fixes this but then some background tabs will fail to load unless you close them, copy the link, and send another web request through another Tab. My previous problem was with the tabs container, it will always annoyingly asks if you want a private tab or new tab. Just when you thought iCAB couldn’t get any worse…Along with clunky tabs that only display part of the first word in a website title, or all appear as Untitled, inability to partially edit or delete as before, now it’s all or nothing. You either allow websites to track every move you make, you can now only delete the whole cookie or leave it as is. Lots of other features that have been eliminated or ruined. But now the big one. As of last update, you can no longer save webpages as PDFs. You get a single blank page. Also gone is verification that the pdf has been saved. You have to check your downloads after every single pdf is created. From the best browser in the universe for more than a decade to a completely destroyed, all but useless piece of junk. Sorry Alex. New update ruins appThe new update is horrible and I want to roll back to the prior version. This version loses tabs when you reopen the app. As in KNOWN opened tabs open as blank pages when the app is reopened and it is too dumb to remember to let us go BACK to the previously opened page in that tab. It seems to do this because it wants to fully load EVERY opened tab when the app loads instead of HOLDING background tabs as pending, leading the load to fail. Version 11 nightmareI have been using and loving iCab Mobile for literally over a decade, but this recent version 11 release is such a slap in the face. Almost unusable really. User agent doesn’t workI bought this app to use the browser agent so i could edit my website from my ipad. Unfortunately, changing my device type to mac our windows or linux kept me locked out off my web admin tools. Also the user interface is dated and just not good. There are features like quickstart that have no setup and no explanation. consider updating your icons and UI elements to be more in line with modern standards or at the very least give users an option to do so. Also create an onboarding experience that explains some of the features of iCab. If browser agents are a key feature to you, i would advise against purchasing this app. It really needs a major revamp overall. Just doesn’t workIt claims to do much more than it actually does and really fails to do a lot. Cannot render consistently. For example, google docs tables turn into a dead block the crashes the app whenever simply trying to place the cursor there. The other comments about strange blocks and fields that seem to be random are very true. It would be amusing if it weren’t so painful. Really neat but UNUSABLE!I find this is a really neat browser, well designed, neat looking, features that match those of full-fledged PC browsers and way ahead of Safari, but...
